What If We Were Vampire and Werewolf Boyfriends That Love Each Other?

Summary:

They were two worlds apart.

Stereotypically, they were meant to hate each other. He was a vampire of noble blood, and he was a mangy werewolf. But that's not going to stop them from loving each other.

Or

A series of random moments between a socially awkward vampire and his emotional support pupper boyfriend.

Notes:

I have no regrets. I don't (read as: I do). I thought this would be a fun idea since Halloween is inching closer and closer. I may or may not write some horrible porn later on, but that's for later, not now. So, uh, enjoy? - Imp

Chapter 1: You Take My Breath Away, My Love

Chapter Text

He can't breathe.

That's the first thing he notices.

As a vampire, he has no need for the function, his heart having stopped so long ago. However, the human part of him desires the refreshing feeling of taking a breath, the memories of his heart pumping and blood flowing. He has little to no pulse, but sometimes he swears he can feel his heart beating steadily, the comforting thumping reminding him of his existence. So, in his half conscious haze, he panics. He tries to flail, to buck, to anything, as long as he can breathe. Something is pinning his legs down, preventing any movement he attempts.

There's something in his mouth, dry and prickly. He surges forward, clamping his jaw down as hard as he can. He's starting to lose consciousness, his head full of fluff. He hears a yelp, before the environment starts to change around him. He sees blood red fur, rippling in his view while strangled whines and whimpers beat his ears. He hears scraping, and suddenly, he can breathe again. He gulps down air while his vision swims and adjusts to the pale moonlight.

He blinks and sees a hulking beast looming over his bed, yellow eyes staring down at him. The beast is clearly a canine, but it's so large and humanoid looking. It's standing on its hindlegs, teeth bared with a growl, clearly annoyed. He hears thumping and sees the canine monster beating its tail on the floor. He feels grainy fur in his mouth and sputters, trying to spit it out. "What did I say?" The beast stops growling, its mean face melting into something pathetic and sad. Its ears flatten on its head and it lowers itself down to his level.

"No. You know exactly what you've done wrong. You can't expect me to just-" A wet nose presses against his cheek, prodding insistently before a heavy muzzle rests on his neck. He groans, petting the monster's head. "No more cuddling, you almost killed me. Just be patient, your shift will end. Eventually." A shrill whine hurts his ear. He pushes the head off of his shoulder and bats its muzzle gently. "No more, go back into the living room." The beast begrudgingly pads out of the bedroom, throwing sad kicked puppy looks over its shoulder.

He sighs and lays back down, pulling his warm covers further up his body. He feels his eyes droop before he falls back asleep.

"-up, please." He stirs, the voice of his lover rousing him from his sleep. "C'mon, Bya, I'm back to normal now. Wake up so I can get in." He buries his face into the covers, ignoring the pleas. He feels his hip get grabbed before he's manhandled to the side. He grumbles, face now buried in a warm and soft pec. "Unhand me, you beast." He feels the man laugh, his chest rumbling with the sound. "Sorry Byakuya, I just wanted to cuddle with you. I felt lonely and cold without you." Byakuya grabs a handful of his lover's pec, lifting his head to glare at him with bleary eyes.

"Renji, I am really tired. I am in no mood to play games." Renji rumbles another laugh, cupping Byakuya's ass with a large palm. "I won't bug you, scout's honor." Byakuya huffs in annoyance, squeezing Renji's pec in retaliation. Byakuya gets a sweet kiss in return, Renji's unruly hair tickling his cheeks. Byakuya tries to deepen the kiss, grumbling when Renji pulls away to give his bottom a squeeze.  Byakuya lays back down with a sigh, nuzzling into Renji's side.

"I'm sorry for almost killing you again. I can't help but want to be in the same room as you when I shift, you make me feel comfortable." Renji murmurs, running a hand through Byakuya's hair. Byakuya kisses Renji's exposed skin, pressing himself as close as possible to the werewolf. "I suppose I can forgive you. I did bite you particularly hard." Renji pulls Byakuya up until he's on top of the larger man. "Maybe you could kiss-" Byakuya scrapes his fangs on Renji's neck in warning, threatening to bite the foolish man again. The werewolf shudders, but keeps quiet.

Byakuya yawns and tries to doze off before Renji leans up, jostling Byakuya violently. "Shit, today we were supposed to meet up with Rukia!" Byakuya sits up in Renji's lap, trying to center himself again. "What time is it?" He asks the redhead, resting his head on Renji's tattooed shoulder. "Um, 9:50, it looks like." Byakuya jolts, head connecting with Renji's chin. They both hiss and pull away. "Hurry up and get dressed, we'll pick up something to eat on the way there." Renji is cradling his hurt jaw, but nods. "Damn, Ruki is gonna kill me."

"Don't you mean us?" Byakuya ponders as he shuffles around the room, looking for his phone. "No, she'll blame our lateness on me. She thinks I'm some kind of bad influence on you or something." Renji pecks his neck, briefly scenting him with his cheek before he heads to their bathroom to change. "I believe she might be onto something." He hears Renji bark out an incredulous laugh. "Oh, cram it you asshole!"

Rukia stares out of the window, hoping to spot her brother's car. "I bet they were fucking again." She sighs, looking over her shoulder to peer at her boyfriend. The orange haired human looks up from his book and screws up his face. "Don't ever say that shit to me again."

Chapter 2: The Moon Is Beautiful, Isn't It?

Summary:

The Moon's beauty pales in comparison to yours, my love.

Here's another random thingy. Um, I'm not even sure what I've done, all I know is that I require sleep, but the brain temptress be temptin'. Enjoy! - Imp

Chapter Text

"Y'know, the moon is really pretty tonight." The confession is soft and rumbly, melting into the peaceful atmosphere and seeping into the bones of the nearby vampire. The werewolf turns to look at his lover, catching a glimpse of the light pink crawling up milky skin before being hidden by a curtain of black hair. He chuckles, brushing the strands back behind the pointed ears, the other shuddering for a moment before gently pushing the werewolf's hand away. "I mean, you are too, Byakuya." Silver eyes snap to scowl at him, a barely there pout on the vampire's face. "You say that as though I am not attractive regularly, Abarai."

"You are!" He laughs when Byakuya huffs lowly, crossing his arms over his chest. "You just can't rival the moon," Byakuya's hand swats his shoulder, making both men laugh. Renji shakes his head, his thick braid (courtesy of Rukia) following the movement. "I was just reminded of our first date." He smiles, the memory fresh in his mind. "Oh, you mean when you fell into the river." The werewolf splutters, his cheeks warming with embarrassment. "I-I did not! You're remembering it wrong."

Byakuya smirks, silver eyes glinting with mild amusement. "I've been alive for over a hundred years, Renji. My memory is very good, I even remember the names of past historians that I used to converse with." The vampire's tone is smug. Renji laughs, refuting Byakuya's statement. "But you had no clue what the hell a car was. I watched you practically leap outta your skin when you heard what kinda sound it made. Then you asked me what humans were doing, letting creatures like that terrorize their streets."

Byakuya grumbles, the pink returning to his soft skin. "Silence, beast." Renji can't help it, he laughs, pulling Byakuya into his arms. "Anyway, I remember romancing you so hard on our first date. There was no falling into rivers or lip stapling." Renji gets nipped angrily. "I told you, it was an involuntary response! You triggered my instinct to feed, so yes, I gave you a little bite." The red head raises a brow. "A little? Bya, you practically gave me a damn lip piercing."

"Oh, shush you fool." Renji rumbles lowly. "Why don't you make me?" He kisses Byakuya's earlobe, grinning when the vampire squirms. '"Weren't you telling me about you wooed me? Are you trying to distract me from your poor storytelling skills?" Renji growls and pushes the asshole off of his lap, sticking his tongue out at the startled man. "Just for that, you no longer get to sit on my lap." Byakuya huffs and sits back down beside the sulky werewolf. The leaves rustle with the breeze, causing Byakuya to shiver from the chill.

"Well, I remember that our date was definitely a mess. Endearing, yes, but a disaster. Especially when we were chased by those dogs." Renji makes a quizzical sound. "I think that was our fourth date, babe." Byakuya shakes his head, loose black hair falling over his eyes. "No, I'm certain that it was our first." The two start to bicker about who was recalling their first date properly. "No way, that was our fourth date. When we went on that hike?"

"I thought that was the one where we went to that flower festival?" Byakuya asks, feet dangling off of their porch. Renji shakes his head insistently, sure that he was correct. "Nope, that was, I think last year's date." They continue to argue, only stopping when Byakuya's statements start to sound slurred. "We'll be talking about this later." Renji says, scooping up the sleepy man. Byakuya mumbles, trying to weakly squirm out of Renji's tattooed arms.

"Nope, it's time for little shithead bats to go to sleep." Renji coos, hissing when he gets bit. He expected Byakuya to remove his mouth after the quick bite, but the vampire remained, teeth pricking the werewolf's skin while he drools on Renji's shoulder in his sleep. The werewolf rolls his eyes fondly, taking his slumbering lover back indoors to sleep in their bed.

He saw the car before the man even knocked on his door. Alight with nervous energy, the black haired man opens the door, catching the other off guard. His hand his raised up to knock, his muscles flexing with the movement. His hair is loose, unlike last time, which he had it styled in a messy bun. In his other hand, he has a bag full of red tissue paper and a single rose. Brown eyes widen, a red hue flushing the taller man's cheeks.

"U-Uhh, damn." Suddenly, he feels as though he's overdressed. "What, is this too formal for our outing? I don't have very many casual clothes." The red head blinks before waving a hand. "N-No, you look great. I mean, gorgeous! Hot. Fuck.." He can't help but to chuckle at the werewolf's actions. "Well, aren't we supposed to be going out? Or is our date here, on my porch, where everyone can see us?" Once again, the redhead flounders, moving so he could exit his house.

The vampire exits his home gracefully, closing the door behind him in one smooth movement. He watches the werewolf scurry off to open the passenger door, smiling to himself. Byakuya feels his still heart skip a beat. God, this man was adorable. He walks up to the man's car, silently thanking him. Byakuya slides into the seat and buckles up. He was about to close the door, but the tattooed man places the gift bag into his lap and closes the car door for him.

Confused, Byakuya looks at the other man when entered the car. "Am I to open this?" The man nods while he buckles up. The man starts the car and pulls out of Byakuya's driveway. "Yep, that's all for you Kuchiki-san." Byakuya brushes a lose strand of hair out of his face, holding the gift bag upright with his free hand. "There's no need to call me that. I'm off work, so I don't mind being regarded casually. You can call me Byakuya." The werewolf blushes and mouths Byakuya's name to himself before saying it out loud. "T-Then you can call me Renji or whatever you'd like."

"Thank you very much for the gift, Renji." Byakuya purrs, carefully looking into the bag. He takes out a jewelry box. He opens the box and holds back a touched gasp. Inside the box was a silver necklace with a cherry blossom charm attached to it. The pale metallic pink was so pretty and made the vampire's heart swell. "Ah, but I'm allergic to silver." Byakuya says forlornly. He hears Renji chuckle. "Me too, it's fake silver. I, uh, made it myself."

He made it? For Byakuya? God, he's fallen deeper in love with him and they haven't gone out on a proper date yet! "It's lovely. I'm afraid to wear it, it's so delicate and beautiful." Renji laughs before muttering a low curse. Byakuya looks up and sees droplets of rain on the windshield, the scenery of a quaint café distorted by the water. "I didn't know it was gonna rain." Renji sighs, leaning his forehead on the steering wheel.

"That's unfortunate, but I don't mind just chatting. This is a nice way to get to know each other." Byakuya puts the necklace back into the bag and smiles gently. Renji stops the car and huffs. "Well, I guess that works. I planned on taking you out all over the place, y'know, woo you and all that." Byakuya snorts, covering his mouth when the involuntary sound escapes him. He flushes when he sees Renji's wide-eyed expression.

Suddenly, the other man breaks into laughter. When he finally calms down, he smiles. "If you think I'm that funny, then I bet we'll be getting along a lot better than I thought." Byakuya smiles behind his palm, heat pooling in his stomach when he notices the suggestive tone behind the man's words. They had started to chat, Renji starting up his car again to drive them to his favorite forest while the spoke. When the pair had arrived to the forest, the rain had finally stopped.

The moon was out, not quite full, but so bright. Renji had dragged Byakuya out of the car, showing him his private spots and the river full of stars. They had danced, barefoot and awkwardly, Byakuya tripping on twigs and clumps of grass. They kissed at the end of the night, deep and passionately. Sure, the date didn't go as planned, improvised at the drop of a hat, but to the two of them, it was perfect.

Notes:

Context: Saying that the moon is beautiful is another more poetic or romantic way to say I love you in Japanese.

I thought it would be cute or something by adding in this phrase. I of course ruined it by trying to be funny. Anyway, moving on, moving on. The next chapter will be out soon, like maybe they kiss or something, y'know, be gay and lovely. I probably should've said this already, but this fanfiction is extremely unserious, well, until later, but for now, enjoy the (horrible) funnies.

Comments (of any kind) are welcome, I want to improve as a writer, so lemme know what you think!

Chapter 3: As Elegant As He May Be, He Still Falls Short

Notes:

I'M BACK, I'M BACK!!

This fic is more like, indulgence and me doing whatever I want, so it has no rhyme or rhythm. So, yeah, that's why this wasn't updated for so long. It's still gonna be updated whenever I have an idea, but like, I dunno when that'll be. This is just random one-shots in one spot, y'know? Anyway, enjoy! - Imp

Chapter Text

The moon is but a thin sliver in the night sky, hidden away behind a veil of thick gray clouds. The windows are firmly shut to not let in the cool night air, but the curtains are opened just enough for him to see the silvery light catch the fine, inky hairs of his lover. His lover is beautifully flushed, trying to hide his red tipped ears and pinkened face behind his long hair. Renji chuckles lowly, only to grimace seconds after as Byakuya chokes for the fifth time, pulling away from him and leaving his inner thighs wet with an abundance of cooling spit and drool.

Byakuya coughs, wiping at his wet… everything and trying to catch his breath. "Don't you dare say one more time, I beg you." Renji groans, brushing the vampire's long hair out of his face and back over his shoulders. "And don't say I'm too big again, either. I wasn't even halfway down your throat, and I told you not to try it anyway." The vampire grumbles, pushing at his shoulders and trying to settle on the werewolf's lap.

This issue is the same as always: Byakuya is frighteningly terrible at oral. His gag reflex is shit, he can barely brush his teeth without almost throwing up twice, his teeth are sharp, he bites his lips and tongue on the regular, and is so fucking impatient. At first, his bad blowjobs were endearing, seeing how happy he was to try and make Renji feel good no matter how shit his head game is. His teary eyes, flushed cheeks, and pink lips, all of its worth being slobbered on like a chew toy. Now, while it's still cute and devastatingly sexy, he'd rather not have drool pooling on his lap the way it is at the current moment. The vampire hides his face in Renji's shoulder, rubbing a cold thigh on his flagging erection.

"Don't pout," he murmurs, petting Byakuya's flank. "I can think of a couple things that pretty mouth of yours can do instead."

Byakuya is hunched over his computer the following morning, a thick blanket wrapped around his bare body.

His reading glasses are slanted on his face as he searches with a scarlet face, "how to perform oral sex."

Notes:

Yeah, so the headcanon of Byakuya being bad at oral sex came to me suddenly and I couldn't help but run with it. Like, esteemed Captain Kuchiki is shitass at head? Count me the fuck in.

Chapter 4: The Red

Summary:

Everywhere he goes, he cannot escape the red.

Notes:

I've updated this sooner than I thought I would.

I'm working on my other RenBya fic, the pirate one, and I suddenly got an idea for this one. Hopefully, I'll have updated that fic and have it posted by today, but at least I got this out of my system. - Imp

Chapter Text

There's red everywhere.

It's on his face, his hands, his clothes.

Everywhere he goes, he cannot escape the red.

Sometimes, it's in his mouth, and he chokes on it.

A shrill whimper attacks his ears as he rasps the grooming brush over rough, grainy fur. "Enough! You shed far too much, no matter the form. I cannot take it anymore. It's in the food, my mouth. I refuse to choke down fur like this, especially during the warmer months." Sad, wet puppy eyes stare him down, pleading for freedom as Byakuya brushes the clumpy fur gathered by Renji's neck. "You are grown. Stop whimpering and whining like a soppy mutt, or I'll give you a reason to." The werewolf huffs, plopping his heavy head onto the floor with a dull thump.

"Ugh, there's just so much of it. That Ishida boy could probably use your fur for stuffing or yarn with how much you're shedding." Renji growls, baring his teeth at the vampire. He gets bopped on the muzzle with the handle of the brush. He sneezes, agitated, and rises to his feet, knocking Byakuya over as he does so. "Don't leave! I know you dislike it, but it's either the brush or the dog shampoo." Renji waves a heavy paw disinterestedly. "I thought you like it when I pet you." Renji's tail wags a little, but his face is that of a cranky dog. He wipes a paw over his muzzle, fur falling in his wake. Byakuya frowns and puts down the brush. "Renji, I love you, truly. Even though we both have… quirks that are hard to navigate, I am willing to… learn for you." The werewolf huffs, a smug expression on his not-so-expressive canid features. Byakuya grits his teeth, annoyed. "However, I cannot bear to have all of your fur dirty up the house. You may be accustomed to consuming fur, but I am not, and I refuse to start."

"Uh, Rukia's not home right now," Ichigo says quickly, as if it were an automatic response. Renji huffs. "Well, good for you. I ain't here for her." Renji looks scruffier than usual. His hair isn't up in a high ponytail, it is loose and messy. "I'm not letting you in." Renji looks impatient, rumbling with an irritated growl. The human sighs. "Tell me why you want to come in first. Then we'll see if I want to let you in." Renji's face crumples before he speaks up. "I may or may not have run away from home." Ichigo suddenly feels tired. "Why did you run away?" Renji suddenly throws his hands up, exasperated.

"Byakuya is so fucking insistent on brushin' out my coat 'cause I'm shedding. But he doesn't seem to realize that he ain't gentle, like, at all. And I'd tell him that, but he gets mopey, even though he doesn't look it. And it sure doesn't help that he likes it when I'm shifted since he likes fluffy things, and he's more affectionate when I'm like that, too. Like, I don't wanna upset him, and I understand that the shedding sucks, I hate it too, but the brush, the brush, Ichigo-"

The human shuts the door in his face, locking it swiftly. He opens the curtains beside the door to flip off the werewolf before trudging back into the kitchen to make himself dinner.

Notes:

I thought this one was perfect for April Fools'. Like, we think someone's in distress, but it's not the kind of distress you think it is.

Ichigo will be long-suffering in this fic, ya'll. The tired human stuck in the middle of nonhuman affairs, yessiree, that is Ichigo.

Chapter 5: Love Bites

I got this in my head and rolled with it, lol. - Imp

Chapter Text

Byakuya has always looked corpse-like from the moment they met. His lips were blue, his body cold as ice, and his eyes glazed over with the sheen of death. The man had no heartbeat and rarely breathed. However, that's not normal for vampires- well, the blue lips and the glassy eyes, at least. The reason why Byakuya looked like that was because he didn't like feeding.

It was shocking, to say the least. Blood is something that's supposed to sustain vampires. Renji may not know the specifics, especially since he's not a vampire, but even he knows that blood makes up literally their entire diet.

The first time Byakuya fed from Renji, it had been terrifying.

It had been really late. Renji was out cold for the night. He remembers waking up because the side Byakuya slept on was empty, which was very odd. Byakuya rarely got up in the middle of the night for any reason, and he was almost always glued to Renji's chest or back, leeching warmth off of him since he runs eerily cold. With that in mind, Renji got up to look for his missing cuddle buddy.

Yeah, so Renji ended up stumbling upon Byakuya struggling to drain a whole ass rat. Where it came from, he doesn’t know and would very much like to keep it that way. There was a lot of coaxing (fearful demanding) from Renji to let the rat go and release it. Then, Renji made Byakuya brush his teeth five times and wash his hands double that to be safe. Afterwards, they talked about… the Rat Situation, which was when Byakuya expressed his dislike for live feeding and why he was having such a hard time with the rat. That, and Byakuya hadn't eaten in a while, so he was very apprehensive about asking Renji for such a favor and how he was fearful he'd hurt him.

When Byakuya did relent and feed, after Renji cleared him of his germy rat-ness, Renji will admit that it was probably the most intimate thing they've done since being together. Byakuya is as emotionally vulnerable as a stray cat and only lets up his stoic front when he's really comfortable and sure he won’t be judged for it. Renji thinks that has something to do with his family, them being rich and all that. It was the most trusting they had been. And it felt really good, so they obviously had hot sex after.

The only thing is, Byakuya isn't terribly fond of how fatty his blood is. Renji didn't know it was fatty, but it probably has a lot to do with his diet, and how it consists of raw meat sometimes (he cut down on it since moving into a more suburban area as there aren't very many means to hunt while shifted, or maybe werewolf gene shit, he doesn't know). That, and Byakuya's a surprisingly messy eater. His chin is almost always covered in Renji's blood when he's satiated, and he stays tucked in Renji's arms while he licks himself clean to the best of his abilities.

Byakuya is clearly pissed.

Even though his face betrays no emotion, Renji can feel his cold rage coming off him in waves. Why is he mad? Well, to help Byakuya get accustomed to feeding regularly, which is about every four weeks, Renji asked Orihime to help him make a schedule. She even handed him a sheet of 1,000 glittery star-shaped stickers, saying, "Chad and Uryu like them, and it’s a nice motivator for self-care when you have a reward system in place." He gives himself a mental reminder not to copy anything she does with her boyfriends as his looks short of mauling him to death because he gave him a glittery sticker.

"Can I get like, a three-minute head start before you start trying to chase me down and cuss me out?"

He gets an airy hiss in reply.

Notes:

Byakuya: I am not a child. I don't need stickers!

Renji: Okay, you may not need them, but do you want them? You could even put one on the cowboy-themed Wakame Ambassador plush I got you last year, the one whose little sheriff's badge fell off.

Byakuya: *Sudden realization* I could do that....

Chapter 6: When He Who Is Accustomed To The Cold Feels Warm For The First Time

Notes:

Hehe, so lovely, so lovely. Ugh, there's not enough fics of them being cute and absolutely in love (I mean, I understand why, have you seen them?), so here I am, thinking about all the fluffy shit I've been storing in my brain and writing it down. I'm glad you guys like this fic, I was just throwing down random bullshit that makes me happy, not realizing it'd make ya'll happy too.

Thank you so much for reading! And hey, if you have something you wanna see these dorks or their friends do, feel free to comment and I'll try to deliver! - Imp

Chapter Text

Byakuya's house is warm.

The furniture and décor are nice fall colors; he and Renji picked them together. Their couch is soft and easy to comfortably cuddle on. There are warm browns, dark reds, cream whites, and hints of royal blue everywhere he goes. The kitchen, which is more Renji's domain, is just as homey as the rest of the house. They have mismatched dishes and cutlery, some of them Byakuya's and some of them Renji's from when they lived separately.

The house doesn't smell like expensive fragrances or incense, but cheap flowery candles and earthy notes. He's not alone in this house, forced to bear the weight of his family and work, and even when he is, it doesn't feel like it. Out of all the places that he likes to be in his house, it’s the entrance. When he comes home, Renji likes to stand in the entrance of the hall, arms open, and usher him into a warm embrace, melting away all of his stressors. He'd take Byakuya's coat and hang it up for him, wrinkling his nose when it smelled too much of others, and then he'd rub his face against Byakuya's before kissing him on his forehead.

Byakuya had never felt more at home than he did with Renji.

Notes:

So, I had an idea about the cowboy-themed Wakame Ambassador and am currently in the process of writing it. I couldn't resist the temptation, so that'll be next.

Chapter 7: Gift

Notes:

Did you know that Byakuya and Rukia share a birth month? They were both born in January. Rukia's birthday is on the 14th, while his is on the 31st. I had to hunt down this info, damn. - Imp

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Despite not being a blood relative to Rukia, or even of the same species, well, not entirely, Byakuya and his adoptive sister are very similar. Byakuya's family consists of mostly vampires, but his mother was not one. She was a demon, he's not sure what kind, no one in his family that knew her desires to tell him, and his father is long dead. However, Byakuya does share very minuscule demonic features with Rukia. She has a long, pointed tail, while he has an uncomfortable stump where his own tail used to be.

As a youth, it would often be slammed in the doors or trapped underneath things. At some point, when he was a teenager, he had gotten into an argument with his grandfather and stormed off. On his way to slam the door, which was hard and aggressive (Byakuya refuses to admit this, but he used to have very bad anger issues), and slammed it right on his damned tail. The damage was unfortunate, so he had to get it removed. He had to relearn his balance without it, but he still veers off to the side while walking to this day.

He also has wings. Very small, pathetic wings. All they do is buzz annoyingly when he flaps them because of their size, and the movement is usually involuntary. When he's happy or excited, he buzzes. Renji had to ask him if it was normal for vampires to buzz the way he did, and the explanation was rather humiliating. He and Rukia also share the same interests in animals. They once teamed up to harbor a duck in her apartment, only to be caught by Ichigo and forced to return Bui to the park he came from.

But the one thing that they have in common, the one thing that Byakuya isn't obvious about, is his interest in "weird" things. Rukia's special weird interest is Chappie. She collects everything: charms, gacha pods, shirts, pajamas, key rings, whatever she can blow her money on. His, while more secret, is Wakame Ambassador. The little seaweed creature is just so adorable, and he loves snuggling with his life-sized plush whenever Renji is away for a while, especially after the werewolf very jealously and aggressively scents it, pretending that he never did and that he's also not jealous.

Renji looks a bit constipated, holding out a blue colored bag to Byakuya, who had just barely woken up from his midday nap. Groggily, Byakuya gropes around for the bag, bleary eyes not yet in focus. He takes the bag, plops it in his lap, blinks the sleep out of his eyes, and stares at the mildly grumpy werewolf. "What is this?" Byakuya asks, staring at the bag. "Well, we've been together for a long ass time, but I didn't know when your birthday was. You never put it up on any of your calendars, never really hinted at it either, but you know pretty much everything about me." Byakuya looks down at the bag. "It's a gift for me? A birthday gift?" Renji nods. "Rukia told me when it was, told me it was a week ago. I know you've been alive for a long ass time, so aging ain't really a big deal to you long-lived types, but it's a big deal to me, at least. I wanna celebrate you too." Byakuya's vision blurs. He clears his throat and hurriedly digs into the gift bag. It's Wakame Ambassador, but he's got on a cute little cowboy hat, his limbs are cow-patterned, and he has a sheriff's badge.

Renji grunts as he's tackled in a hug. He says nothing as Byakuya cries into his shoulder, sighing fondly as he rubs the shorter's back.

Notes:

Like I promised, the Wakame Ambassador plush backstory has been written. I hope you enjoyed it, I really had fun writing it.

Chapter 8: The Popped Soda Tab Strikes Fear Into Many (But Not That Damned Nuisance)

Notes:

Man, I've noticed that I'm on a relatively consistent posting schedule, which was not my intention for this fic, but I got that RenBya brainrot ya'll. Writing these silly little one-shots or whatever is pretty fun, and kinda therapeutic in a sense. - Imp

Chapter Text

"All done. I got clothes for a week, nightclothes too, tents are already in the trunk, got snacks for the road, blankets, pillows, all the good shit." Renji announces triumphantly to himself, making sure to list what he's completed aloud so he remembers. He picks up the two overnight bags, one heavier than the other since he had to account for Byakuya's poor circulation and packed warmer, thicker clothes.

This will be Byakuya's first time camping, and they'll be going by themselves since Byakuya prefers solitude and this'll be a nice retreat for them both. If he had his tail, it'd be wagging so hard. He heads downstairs to go load up the car with what they need. As he clomps down the stairs, Renji clocks a sharp hissing noise, similar to the sound a can makes when you pop the tab. Obviously, that's Byakuya. Since knowing him, Renji's learned all the different hissing noises the vampire is capable of making.

He can even spit, like a cat, which is one of his least favorite noises. It startles him every time it happens. Byakuya only spits on two occasions; he's either been caught off guard (very rarely does this happen), or he's giving a warning that usually ends with a sharp bite (Renji has been on the receiving end of this twice; both times were definitely his fault). This hissing sound means that Byakuya is pissed and is about to get aggressive.

Renji dumps the bags and pinpoints where the sound is coming from. He stumbles over himself to find Byakuya and deescalate the situation. He finds Byakuya standing at the back door, tense as he hisses at… a cat? His hissing reaches a more unsettling quality when it gets closer to the porch, meowing pathetically. Byakuya isn't territorial, per se; he is possessive and makes sure people know what's his, but he doesn't bar anything from entering he backyard or in the house.

Letting random strays and kittens roam his yard and home is what he lives for, no matter how unwise Renji says it is (Renji got fleas from one of the kittens that comes by once, never again). Renji doesn't dare approach the agitated vampire, slightly cowed. "Is… Is something the matter?" Byakuya glances to look over his shoulder, pointing at the black cat pawing at the glass.  "Remove her, now. I refuse to let her remain here while we leave."

Meow!

Meoww.

Mraow!

Mraowww.

Myaa!

"Uh, what'd she do?" Renji asks, confused. The cat suddenly stops meowing. She stares at him for a second before her face warps with a smile. Renji nearly screamed in horror, but don't tell anyone that.

"What are you up to?" A pointed ear flicks in question, dusty blond fur ruffled from the damp air coming through the opened windows. "Don't worry about it, Urahara, just focus on whatever it is you're doing." The kitsune watches as his feline companion waltzes around the shop, digging around for something. "Well, you broke my kiseru, Yoru, so I'm trying to fix it. Stop jumping on the counters to break my shit, by the way." Yoruichi laughs, ignoring him.

"I heard through the grapevine that Byakuya and his pup are going on a trip, does your little scheme have anything to do with that?" Urahara quirks a brow that goes unnoticed, hidden under the brim of his bucket hat, his ear twitching from where it's awkwardly flattened beneath it. Yoruichi pauses in her rifling through drawers and cabinets to place a hand on her chest, mock offended. "What? How could you ever accuse me of such a thing? I'm just bidding my favorite nephew a warm farewell."

As if.

Notes:

Eeeee, I am having too much fun with this! I seriously didn't mean to post like, somewhat regularly, especially since this went untouched for about a year or so (the number is fuzzy). This was meant to be a Halloween-themed collection of fics, but here I am, doing this. I'm not upset in the slightest, it's just funny how it turned out in the end.

Chapter 9: Ice and Marble Shell, Soft, Fearful Insides

Notes:

Renji and Byakuya are consuming my life, ya'll. I think about them when I'm supposed to be doing schoolwork, when I'm bullshitting, when I'm sleeping, when I'm trying to sleep, and god, how heavenly it is. - Imp

Chapter Text

Byakuya doesn't worry about many things. He often has a fairly cool head when he's to deal with matters regarding his colony or work-related stressors. He's very good at keeping his thoughts and tasks organized so they are easy to work with. Even if something were to come crashing down and tear up his plans by the roots, Byakuya would still be able to manage. If he couldn't do that, he wouldn't have been the head of his family for so long.

Byakuya is calm and collected, he rarely panics when things go wrong.

Something is wrong with Renji. The werewolf shifted about 30 minutes ago, not even that long ago. Byakuya will admit he's not there when Renji shifts, despite the fact that he really wants to be. Renji tends to Byakuya, even when the older isn't pleased about it. Renji's always caring for him. However, since being in a relationship with Renji, the one thing Byakuya was not to do was be present when Renji shifted. He's not entirely sure how to pinpoint the day the redhead might shift, but Renji's got it down to a t. He has charts, calendars, and different little schedules that Byakuya can hardly make sense of. But today was a little different. Instead of the weeks of Renji tearing up his home office and littering every surface with papers and old calendars and warning Byakuya three weeks in advance, Renji instead told him two days before. The vampire should've known something was wrong then. Renji had seemed tired, maybe run ragged by his work, and asked for Byakuya to come home a lot closer to the time Renji would have shifted. Now, Renji's large canid form is sprawled on the floor, face scrunched up as he huffs and stretches out as far as he can. Byakuya has approached him with water and snacks at least twice, only to be halfheartedly growled at or nipped. Renji wasn't normally this lethargic, nor was he averse to Byakuya touching him like this. Maybe he's just tired. Byakuya doesn't possess the ability to shift like other vampires (it's a fairly rare gene that his family doesn't have), but he's sure that it takes a lot out of them.

Byakuya hesitantly leaves Renji in the living room, giving himself a mental reminder to check on him again in ten minutes.

Ten minutes have passed, and while Renji isn't trying to become one with the carpet anymore, he still doesn't look too good.

His eyes aren't fully open, he's curled up awkwardly, and he's huffing loudly. Byakuya's heart sank.

Contrary to the belief of those around him, Byakuya isn't always swarmed with work. He makes time for everything. If he wants to take a stroll on his property, he'll do it whether he's supposed to be working or not. He has time to do what he pleases when he pleases. That's why when Hisana fell ill, Byakuya pushed all his work to the side to be there for her. He'd tend to her when his attendants couldn't, wouldn't; he'd bring her back to the cusp of health, only for her to fall ill once more. Illness in mortals was deadly. No matter what you did, they'd still be sickly and dying. He'd wake up to her retching in the morn, blood painting her pale lips as she lost color day by day. He stopped sleeping for her, for if she died the next day or in the middle of the night, he would have left her to be fearful alone.

Byakuya flinches when a heavy paw nudges his hip. Renji looks tired, his normally sharp puppy eyes bleary. He's not sure when Renji dragged himself off the floor to approach him. The werewolf isn't standing at full height, he's standing just tall enough so that Byakuya could pet his head if he wanted to. Red fur tickles his arms as the were whines inquisitively, nudging his wet nose against Byakuya's stomach. Byakuya grits his teeth and bullies his way into Renji's fluffy chest, curling into the warm body as he chokes back gut-wrenching sobs. Renji grunts and whines softly, resting his large paws on Byakuya's trembling frame. "Are," Byakuya sniffles. "Are you… please don't leave me." He says, soft, watery. Renji jolts violently, yelping as he gathers Byakuya in his arms more securely. The vampire hiccups when Renji starts insistently nudging his muzzle against his cheek, licking away his tears.

This was part of the reason why Renji was hesitant to be in the same space as Byakuya when he has to shift. It's excruciating. He's always aching and sore when he shifts and after he turns back. Maybe it's instinct that has Renji ducking off to shift alone, to cry and hurt where no one can see. Renji does his best to calm down Byakuya, his heart twinging with each muffled sob or sniffle. He's not open about his emotions like this. Renji has never really seen him cry openly or ask for comfort. But here, like this, Byakuya's terrified, he doesn't know what to do, and Renji can't tell him it'll be fine, that he's okay.

When the night's over, Renji will be sure to explain everything and give his little bat the comfort he deserves.

Notes:

... okay, so this is the second time I've written Byakuya crying, but it's not the first time I've imagined him crying. I... I might write vague smut featuring a wrecked, crying Byakuya for one of the chapters, but I don't really feel entirely confident in my ability to do so. But the urge... the urge.

Chapter Text

Colony meetings are the worst.

As the head of his family and colony, it's Byakuya's responsibility to participate and mediate in meetings held by his elders. It's annoying, having to listen to fully grown vampires scold Byakuya about his decisions and lifestyle when they themselves hardly have lives to even speak of. If Byakuya wanted to be subtly insulted to his face, he'd go with Renji to whatever hangouts he and Ikkaku put together and sit right next to Yumichika.

Honestly, even the tengu's company is more desirable than having to pretend to listen to his aunties and grandmothers nag him about marrying a more suitable partner or having children. It also doesn't help that they love to bring up sore spots from his past, such as Hisana, or the fact that Rukia is part human and demon, while her sister was just a lowly human, or that Rukia is now following his footsteps and is coupling with a human. It pisses him off, and as much as he would love to yell at them and tell them off, he's weak.

This is all he's ever known, and even though his friends(?) are more like his family than his colony, they're what he's grown up with.

Byakuya slams the front door shut, still riding the anger leftover from the colony meeting. Renji, who was standing in the entryway, no doubt waiting for his return, startles at the sound. The redhead frowns, concerned. The vampire ignores the glances thrown his way and sheds his coat and shoes on his own, despite knowing how much Renji likes to do it for him and how lovingly and gently he does it. Byakuya walks right past Renji, who's still reeling from the surprise. "B-"

"I'm taking a bath." And with that, he stomps up the stairs.

Renji blinks in shock. Even if Byakuya's family duties were particularly awful that day, he'd never just brush off Renji like that. It hurt, just a little, to be so harshly put to the side. With a sigh, Renji neatly puts up Byakuya's coat and shoes. So, he's having a bad day, maybe bad's an understatement- but Renji likes to think he's good at getting Byakuya out of those moods.

The bathwater is cold.

They've been having heating problems for a while, and Renji's been working to find someone to fix it, but the only people that can are human plumbers, but they're scared of being in a neighborhood full of people like them. Sure, there are services worked by other nonhumans, but for some reason, plumbing and electricity is not one of them. Byakuya drains the water, abandoning his hopes of soaking away his problems. He gets dressed once he's nice and dry, but he's incredibly cold. Because he has little to no blood to circulate, he's very cold. Now, imagine always being cold and jumping into a bathtub full of cold water. Byakuya can feel his mood worsen as he digs through his clothes, only to realize that he doesn't have garments warm enough. He nabs a pair of Renji's boxers and one of his thick winter shirts. Byakuya isn't active during the colder months, so he doesn't need insulated outerwear since he doesn't go anywhere during then. That and the fact that he's always so tired during the winter and sleeps for at least a week, but being that warm indoors makes him sleepy, he literally can't help it.

Byakuya's bundled up in his clothes! He looks so cute and snuggly on the couch, but he's still upset. Renji pushes away the part of his brain that wants to smother and scent his mate, er, lover, fingers itching to scoop him up and squish him close. Renji shakes his head and sits on the opposite end of the couch, knowing from experience that when Byakuya's upset, he doesn't want to be alone, but doesn't want to be held either.

"-rry." Renji hears Byakuya mumble. "I didn't catch that, love." Byakuya scowls and turns away. Fuck it, Byakuya's really upset, and Renji's instincts are crying to scent him and comfort him, and he can tell that Byakuya's cold, even from here. Renji slowly approaches the vampire, scooting closer and closer until their thighs are almost touching. Byakuya tucks himself into his knees, purposely trying to avoid the situation. Renji pokes Byakuya's cheek, snorting when the vampire gets annoyed (it didn't even take that much) and bites his finger. It wasn't hard enough to break skin, but it was certainly a warning.

"You're ignoring me? Why?" Renji whines, nudging his head against Byakuya's shoulder. Byakuya doesn't respond. Renji huffs and puffs and whimpers until Byakuya glares at him, albeit halfheartedly and starts to push Renji away. "Ah ha, got you!" Renji grasps Byakuya's arms and holds them above the vampire's head with one hand while using the other to draw the smaller into his lap. Just like he thought, Byakuya's skin is damn near colder than ice. The werewolf ignores his mate's helpless squirming and complaining, situating them both on the couch so Renji can warm him up.

Byakuya stops struggling, sighing tiredly as he melts so easily in Renji's embrace.

"There we go," Renji rumbles, smoothing a hand down Byakuya's back. The vampire shivers, burying his head in the crook of his tattooed neck. "Alright, now, you wanna talk about what happened earlier, or do you want a distraction instead?" Byakuya moves to do something, but Renji holds him tighter. "Nn! D-Don't squeeze me, you brute." The werewolf loosens his grip, hands moving down to cup Byakuya's ass through his shirt. "But you like it when I squeeze you?" Byakuya squirms when Renji's hands lift the shirt over his rear, making no other moves but to rest his hands atop it. Byakuya doesn't reply. "Okay, I'm sorry for pushing your buttons. I'm still a little butthurt about the ignoring me, but that doesn't mean I should antagonize you. You want down?" The vampire wraps his arms around Renji's neck and clings on tightly. "No. I'm sorry for my earlier behavior… I was… it was unfair of me to take out my irritation on you. I don't want to talk about what happened yet, but I would like," Byakuya whispers the rest, suddenly shy.

Renji coos at him, the sound slightly muffled as Byakuya buries his face in Renji's pillow, trying to dampen the sounds of his pleasured cries. He should've chosen his own, Renji's scent on the pillow is making his head feel light and fuzzy, fuck, he might even be drooling. Renji can be a very gentle and patient person at times, but in the throes of passion, he becomes a bully. There's no other words Byakuya can think of that best describe the torture Renji puts him through. Renji's fingers, warm, thick, sticky with lube and… and other fluids, are prodding against his walls, searching for the spot Byakuya loves the most. "R-Renji, hah, s-stop teasing me." He says, shifting his hips just slightly. "Mm? Sorry, Bya, I can't hear you with your face in the pillow." Renji pulls out his fingers with a lewd pop, sending a shiver down Byakuya's spine. The werewolf's large hands are braced on his thighs, rubbing circles into the flushed and slightly sweaty skin. "Come on, don't hide. I know what you sound like anyway."

Renji presses a kiss on Byakuya's thigh, licking the skin there to make him jump just a little. Byakuya lifts his head a little. The stark contrast of his flushed skin and the black of his hair is making Renji feel as though he's losing his grasp on self-control. "There he is, my little princess finally stopped hiding from me." He teases. Byakuya glares at him, temper flaring, but the flush of arousal and slightly watery eyes make him look more petulant than irritated. Renji lifts his hands from Byakuya's thighs to his ass, parting the cheeks to finally get to the good part.

"T-That's enough! N-No more, un, pl-please!" Byakuya wails, struggling to wriggle his body from Renji's grip.

Renji just chuckles, the vibration against his puffy hole making him whimper in mild discomfort. Renji licks messy, broad stripes against- "Ah! W-What did I- teeth, mm, no more teeth, puh-please!" Byakuya is laid bare, spread open for Renji to see, to use. Despite how rough he's being, biting his thighs and scraping his teeth against his rim, Renji's holding him gently, like he's something meant to be cherished, loved. Byakuya blinks away tears, hiccupping with broken sobs. He feels so warm and good, but Renji isn't doing it right, he doesn't want his tongue anymore. Renji pulls away, licking his lips happily. "So pretty. As much as I wanna take you the way you like," Renji presses a warm hand against Byakuya's stomach. "I gotta take you apart just a little bit more." Renji licks away Byakuya's tears, grinning sharply.

Notes:

YEEK, EEK, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT. Like, I'm not terribly pleased with the sex scene, or the fact that I kept jumping around to avoid more detailed sex, I will admit that it is a bit hot... like, this is not really my element, but I think it's good for my first time writing s e x.

If you have any advice, please, please, please share your tools of the trade. These two feel like they'd definitely be fucking on every surface of their house, that's just the vibes I get of their relationship, so them having sex is most likely going to show up more than once in this series.

Chapter Text

"No, and that's final."

Rukia barely keeps herself from yelling, instead curling her fingers into the fabric of her sweatpants. "I don't think you're being very fair, Nii-sama." She says, as level as she possibly can manage. Her brother, blank-faced as usual, takes a sip of his tea and blinks impassively, which is basically his version of a shrug! "As a Kuchiki, especially one not tied down by species or blood, you have to work harder to be respected by the elders. I am simply watching out for you." Rukia picks up her own cup of tea with trembling hands, gritting her teeth as she takes a sip of the bitter drink. Her tail is curled around her waist, wriggling in anger and tightening as she keeps a grasp on her temper.

Renji, the dope, is sitting with Byakuya, unsure of what to say or do. Fine! If this is how it's going to go, she's taking collateral. She schools her expression into something soft and casual. "Well, what about you, Nii-sama? While you are the head of the family, you are the youngest blood relative, and you have quite the track record with… unconventional partners. I believe you once spent the night with one Oni in particular?" Her brother chokes on his tea, spilling the warm beverage over his light colored sweater.

Renji knocks his knee on the table in surprise, shooting Rukia a look of shock and mild awe. "I highly doubt the elders would care if I were to court a human, especially since there's no way I would ever become the family head any time soon." She watches with silent glee as Byakuya has a coughing fit, and while she can't see it, she knows for certain that the tips of his ears are scarlet. Once her brother stops coughing, he speaks. "That may be so, but I still forbid you from being with a human, especially that one." He stands and quickly leaves, slamming the door to the room on his way out. Both she and Renji flinch at the noise.

"Damn, Ruki." She glares at the werewolf, who raises his hands and averts eye contact. "Look, look, I'm one hundred on your side, I mean it. It's just, you know why he's touchy about this." The demon sighs, staring into her cup of tea. "He's scared for you. He doesn't want you to be hurt the same way he was when… when Hisana passed." Rukia slumps her shoulders. "I'm scared too, terrified even, but he's not gone yet, and he'll be here for a long while. Maybe it's because I'm a demon that I don't understand why Nii-sama's so scared. Even if Ichigo were to die today, or tomorrow, I would still be able to find him and be with him, even if he's but a weak spirit." Renji stands up, stretching out his arms and legs. "Then tell him that. Give yourself a moment to calm down, and try again. When you two are done crying and hugging about it, I'll be there to cook you dumb hoes some food-" She leaps from her seat and kicks him in the leg, darting out of the room just as fast as her brother.

Nii-sama's outside, in the garden.

He looks as though he belongs out there, his beauty complementing the flowers. Stepping out into his special place feels as though she's walking into a painting. "Nii-sama," Byakuya hums, his focus on a budding flower, not once sparing a glance to look over his shoulder at her. "I'm sorry for my outburst, I was particularly cruel." Her brother snorts, shaking his head. He pats the ground next to him, so she takes up space next to him.

"You have no reason to apologize to me. I misspoke and overstepped. I am unused to having a sibling, as I grew up an only child. With you, you're much younger than I, a mere child in my eyes, but you are not. You are grown, capable of making complicated decisions and facing the consequences of those decisions. Even so, I worry. Humans are fragile and die so easily, I did not want you to fear for that day to come as I did once." Rukia leans her head on his shoulder. "I have no right to dictate your relationships, and I sincerely apologize to you, Rukia."

She nudges her head firmly against him, poking him with her horns. "I forgive you. I'm very happy that you care for me that much. I used to worry you didn't really love me for me, but instead cherished me only for your bond with Hisana. I see now that I was worried about nothing."

The two lapse into peaceful silence, enjoying the company of the other.

"Renji called you a dumb hoe."

Notes:

SIBLING DRAMA TURNS INTO SIBLING BONDING AND HAPPY AND EEEKKKK, I LOVE THIS ONE SO MUCH!!! This chapter fills me with joy! I really wanted sibling bonding between the two, especially since I'm pretty sure Rukia gets her interest from Byakuya. I mean, he has money, so he has the means to get her things she wants, and he probably was the one who got her into Chappie.

Anyway, I also wanted to get into how Rukia and Ichigo started dating, but on Rukia's end. I'll establish how they met (Renji and Byakuya too) eventually, but this was just something I really needed to write.

Also, RIP Renji, but it's well deserved lol.

(If you can guess who the Oni is, I will write you a special chapter, just for u ;3c)

Chapter Text

This is the worst day of his life! He might just die of embarrassment, of shame! If there is a god, please, end his suffering here and now!

"Renji! Stop all the howling, please! You're not dying!" Renji whimpers and yelps, trying and failing to scramble out of the bathtub. Sure, the water's nice and warm, and the tub is a good size to fit his large form in comfortably, but he's heavy and wet, and all Byakuya's doing is sitting there, trying to keep him in the tub. The betrayal! "Just 20 more minutes, and you can come out, I promise." Renji barks petulantly, purposely splashing Byakuya with the water. The vampire sputters, huffing in displeasure.

"20 more minutes, puppy. Please. It's for your pain, to make it more bearable and not an ever-present ache. If it doesn't work, and you really hate it, we won't do it ever again." Renji silences, resting his soggy head on the rim of the tub. Byakuya's slender fingers card through the fur on his head, nails rasping against his scalp. Well, Byakuya's been really worried as of late, especially since he now knows that Renji's shifts aren't as comfortable or painless as he's been making it out to be. It's sweet, really, and Renji genuinely appreciates it. He's not a fan of being wet while shifted, but if Byakuya's really trying to help him out, Renji will let him.

Being blow-dried isn't awful, but the hot air by his ears startles him a little bit. Byakuya is being very thorough with his drying, and the neck and chin scratches are heavenly. Renji knows damn well that his tail is wagging fiercely, Byakuya huffs every time he has to be behind the wolf's back. "Okay, all done. Now you're free to-' Renji gathers Byakuya into his arms, ignoring the smaller's yelps, rubbing his scent into Byakuya's exposed skin. Taking a bath makes him feel off sometimes, especially since it changes how he smells a little bit.

It's common practice for Renji to smother his scent everywhere he can reach to make sure they both smell exactly the same. Renji sticks his muzzle underneath Byakuya's new shirt, licking the skin there. "Ah! Your nose it cold, c-cut it out!" Byakuya squirms away, biting back what Renji knows is a giggle. Renji listens, only to rub his cold nose on Byakuya's neck and shoulders, preening when he hears the vampire snort and muffle his laughter. "S-Stop that! I should be fine now, no?" Renji huffs, pretending to think about it before licking Byakuya's ears and cheeks, barking softly at the shriek of laughter he's rewarded with.

"Okay, that's enough. It's supposed to be bedtime." Is what Byakuya says, but the man is too busy burying his face in Renji's fur and playing with it.

Renji still isn't allowed to sleep in the bed, not that it's very comfortable anyway. But they've had too many close calls where Renji's full body weight has trapped Byakuya beneath him, nearly suffocating him while asleep. Byakuya is prepping for bed, wearing one of Renji's shirts, big enough that he's basically swimming in it. From experience, Renji knows that he's definitely not wearing anything underneath, and the thought is driving him crazy. If he wasn't shifted, he'd probably already have Byakuya laid out beneath him, panting and begging for-

Renji grumbles, resting his head on Byakuya's soft thigh. Byakuya stops brushing his hair to pet the werewolf, smiling gently. "What's the matter, puppy?" Ugh, and that cute ass pet name, it's not fair! He's being cockblocked by himself! Himself! If Renji wasn't scared of hurting Byakuya, he knows they'd definitely have sex while he's shifted. Fuck, the idea of knotting him and-

Renji stands to full height, gives Byakuya his goodnight nose kiss (it's just him bumping his nose against Byakuya's cheek) and goes to retire for the night in the guest bedroom. He makes sure to give a soft, "wuff," before he goes.

It really is the worst day of his life.

Notes:

Original Title Idea: Puppy-Dog Blue Balls, scrapped almost immediately and burned in a fire.

I will admit, I have been thinking about Renji blowing out Byakuya's back while shifted and it hasn't left me since.... I'd blame them for being horny fuckers, but I'm the one holding the strings, smh.

Chapter Text

Byakuya does not want to be here. He wants to be spending quality time with his sister and not, not this. "I can see you pouting over there, Byakuya." Renji snorts, taping up another box containing Rukia's Chappy themed items. Her room is almost barren, no longer full of her quirky decorations or Chappy merchandise, but instead looming with cardboard boxes.

Byakuya scowls, gingerly placing a picture frame containing a photo of Rukia and himself at a theme park, the pair of them wearing ridiculous bunny ear headbands, into a box filled with paper to keep it safe, as well as other picture frames. "I do not pout. I am simply…"

"Sulking cause Rukia's moving out to live with her boyfriend?" Renji says, suddenly behind him and reaching for his hands. "This is good for them, her especially. I get it, her suddenly not being here is gonna be weird. She's lived with you a good while, so I don't blame you for not wanting her to go." Renji wraps him up in a hug, resting his chin on Byakuya's shoulder, looking at the contents in the box he's responsible for. "She's not even properly moved out yet, but I still… I miss her." Byakuya sighs.

"That's normal too. When you adopted her, I felt the same way. We were thick as thieves, we spent every second together, and then she moves in with you. I was still going to see her, but it didn't feel the same. I'm sure it's very different for you since all your family pretty much lives in the same house, well, before you moved out." Byakuya leans into Renji, closing his eyes. "Does it get better?" Renji chuckles, nuzzling into his neck. "In time. I mean, you'll see how happy she is living with him, and you'll be happy too, seeing her grow more independent."

The vampire sighs, slumping his shoulders. "I… suppose so. It will do her good to make a life of her own, as I have." Renji pecks his cheek, loosening his hold. "Let's pack up the rest of her stuff and when we're done, you and Rukia can spend some time together before we have to take all this shit to their new place. Tell her how you feel, 'kay, Honey Bee?" Byakuya flusters, grumbling as he shoves away from Renji's embrace. "Enough."

Rukia has her ear pressed to the door, her eyes glassy. "Rukia? The hell are you doing?" Ichigo asks, baffled by her… whatever she has going on right now.

Rukia peels herself from her former bedroom door, sniffling. "Nii-sama doesn't want me to go." Ichigo frowns, putting down the box containing her clothes. "This shit again? You know he doesn't own you, you can make your own decisions, fuck what he thinks." Rukia shakes her head, wiping her red-rimmed eyes. "N-No, not that. We've already talked about that, and he's supportive. He said he's going to miss me, t-that he already does! I-I miss him too!" She starts sobbing, scrubbing fruitlessly at the tears running down her face. Ichigo sighs, pulling her into his chest, patting her head. "There, there. You two are so fucking weird, you know that?" She nods. "Well, now it's starting to make more sense to me. He's just as emotional as a brick wall, I couldn't tell that he was trying to be brotherly when he was barring us from meeting. Byakuya's just a big softie who loves you very much, huh?"

Notes:

:3c fluff because I need more Byakuya and Rukia being siblings and bondingggg

Chapter 14: The Big, Bad Wolf And Sleeping Beauty

Notes:

I've been watching TYBW after I dropped it for an actual year. Byakuya is just too pretty sometimes. I'm thinking of making a chapter based on a thought I had when he complimented Rukia and called Shuhei his friend (WHICH WAS SO INSANE TO ME LOL??? LIKE, WHEN HAVE THESE TWO (Shu and Bya) HAD A CONVERSATION AND BEEN BUDDIES?? LIKE, YASS KING, BEING IN TOUCH WITH YOUR EMOTIONS AND BEING MORE EMOTIONALLY PRESENT IS SEXY, BUT WHAT????). - Imp

Chapter Text

Renji grumbles, roused from his peaceful sleep by an insistent chill on his skin.

Why is it so cold?

He still has the blanket, right?

He pats his chest, searching for the wayward covering, only to be met with, well, not a blanket. He shifts his feet, but nothing. He sighs sleepily, now certain of where his blanket has gone. Seriously, this happens every time. He should honestly just get a separate one at this point. As much as he loves snuggling with his darling vampire, the little shit runs so cold he's either hogging all their blankets, and they have at least four on the damn bed, or he's pressing his freezing cold body to Renji's and waking him up. Blindly, he gropes around for his half of the blanket. "Byakuya," he croaks, trying to locate where the vampire could be on the bed, but refusing to open his eyes lest he wake up entirely.

It's his off day, no work, no errands, just relaxation, and he can't commit to a lazy day if he gets up this early; he knows for sure that the sun hasn't risen just yet. "Byakuya," he repeats, just a tad bit louder. He earns an annoyed grunt in reply, blankets rustling as the other no doubt curls up into a tight ball. Same thing every time. Byakuya isn't a heavy sleeper by any means, nor is he a light sleeper, but if he doesn't want to get up, he won't. He sighs, scrubbing a hand down his face.

Fine. If that's how he wants to play, Renji will play just as dirty right back. He rolls onto his side, opening his bleary eyes. Right there is Byakuya, buried underneath a mound of blankets. Renji pats along the surface of the lump, ignoring Byakuya's muffled complaints. Once he finds where he thinks Byakuya's hip is, he drags the smaller towards him. "Renjiiii, stop itt. I'm sleeping." Byakuya whines, squirming as his back is pulled flush against Renji's chest. "No, you aren't, you're talking and stealing blankets from me." Renji gripes, squashing the vampire with his arm. Byakuya hisses, so Renji growls back in reply. "Use the other ones." Byakuya mumbles, settling right back into sleep.

"I can't, you piece of shit, you have them. Lemme in with you." Renji starts trying to peel the layers of blankets off Byakuya. "Stop that! It's cold." Byakuya grumbles petulantly, clutching tightly to the covers, and Renji does not feel like struggling to wrench them away. "No shit, that's why I want at least part of your stupid ass cocoon." He's starting to feel more and more awake the longer he fights this dumb battle. If he's gonna be cold and up at this hour, then so is Byakuya.

As expected, Byakuya doesn't deign him with a reply, instead sighing softly and leaning away. It's the same song and dance; they bicker, mostly one-sidedly. Renji tries to nab a blanket or two, but instead ends up with handfuls of nothing and is left to either freeze in bed or wake up for the day. He gives him exactly ten seconds before he snakes his hands over Byakuya's belly, hidden away underneath the layers of blankets, and presses his fingers as best he can against it, grinning as Byakuya jolts awake, trying to lurch away from him with angry squeals.

His warmth-seeking nature is his undoing, as he's trapped beneath his once cherished mound of blankets. "Renji, you piece of- eek! S-Stop, stop!" Byakuya hiccups with laughter, wriggling away as best he can. "Okay, okay, I'm done." Renji chuckles, letting Byakuya free. The vampire catches his breath, kicking himself free. "Y-You, you bastard. I hate you." Renji laughs, yelping when Byakuya pinches his arm. "Ow! That's so mean!" Renji cups his stinging arm, throwing puppy dog eyes at his irate partner. "Good. That's the least of what you deserve, disrupting my sleep like that." Renji scoffs in amusement, rolling over into Byakuya's lap. "You did it firssttt. You stole the blanket from me and left me to freeze!" Byakuya glares at him, tugging a lock of Renji's hair.

He lets Byakuya pout and manhandle his hair for a few moments longer before taking his hands as best he can from this position, kissing his fingers as an apology. "Alright, alright, stop looking at me like I'm a bad dog. I'll make breakfast so Kuchiki-sama will forgive this lowly one for disturbing his precious rest." He earns a snort, Byakuya's lips curling in amusement. "Don't start with me, Abarai. And it's not like you'd let me make breakfast anyway, so your promise holds no allure in my eyes." Renji hums. "You got that right. I'm surprised how you've lived this long without knowing how to feed yourself even a little bit. Without me, you'd probably be eating bananas for the rest of your life. We'll work on teaching you how to cook at some point, I'm very attached to my cookware, you know." His cheek is pinched, Byakuya's nose wrinkled in displeasure. "It was one time, and I replaced it."

The man leans up, pecking his lover's jaw sweetly. "Sure, it was one time, but to have done that in the first place, that's a skill no one but you has." Byakuya grumbles at him and pushes his face away, planting his hand firmly over Renji's mouth. "You promised me breakfast, focus your time on that instead of bothering me further." The werewolf grins mischievously from behind Byakuya's soft palm, licking it like a child. In true Byakuya fashion, he yanks his hand away, cheeks scarlet. "Renji, don't be disgusting!" He admonishes, wiping his damp palm on the bedding. "What? You only like me licking you when-"

Byakuya, in a movement so swift, Renji barely sees it, hurls his pillow at the redhead's face and scrambles to the bathroom, slamming the door shut. "Go make our food already!" Renji bursts out into laughter. 'Okay, my dear. I'll get to it." Maybe early mornings like this aren't so bad if he gets to see Byakuya like this all the time. He knows damn well that he got shy and ran away to save face, he always gets like this the second Renji starts talking just a little bit dirty outside of intimate settings. Renji chuffs. Byakuya is just too funny sometimes.

Notes:

:3c

Yeah, I need to finish writing the chapter I have planned of them having sex... This was cute and all, but my bottom Byakuya needs have not been met.

Notes:

If you like, you can make suggestions for the next chapters! This'll help me write stuff and practice with prompts and all that jazzy jazz. Also, comments, they are my lifeblood. I would love to see what you have to say and what ideas you guys will have for the next chapters. Until next time!
