Chapter 1: Insert the Banshee's
Chapter Text
The five of them ran through the forest headed in the direction of the Ogre village, that was the direction that the Orc army headed after it tore through their own village. They are running behind because they had to wait for their princess, who is now leading them, to wake up after she used all her magicules trying to hold off the Orcs allowing the other four of them to escape certain death.
They run right into the edge of the village which was still overrun by the tail end of the Orc army, “Brothers,” the princess yells, “take to the sky's and look for survivors,” with nods they take off without question.
It isn’t even a full minute later that she hears a screech from close to the center of the village, gesturing to the two women behind her, “let us make a path, try to keep whoever is there alive.”
Turning back to the army they open their mouths in sync and scream, revealing their monstrous visage, causing a swath of about six across to drop, not wasting a moment the three women trample over the dead Orcs still screaming until they made it to a self-made clearing occupied by six Ogres.
As the princess drew close to the obvious leader, an incredibly angry looking red ogre, the twins in the sky dropped down into the clearing, the woman addressed the other four Banshees, “Help the Ogres hold this position we need only a few minutes,” getting affirmatives she turned back to red ogre.
“Who are you people?!?” the man looked both confused and angry.
The red-haired woman answered, “I am the Banshee princess, I apologize that we couldn’t get here earlier, but my kin refused to leave me behind.”
Nodding slightly, “Yes, I understand, that is why we are still here, we needed to find our father, the village chief,” here he angled his head to indicate a pink ogre, “the others refused to leave without us.”
Noting the distinct sadness in all the Ogres faces she assumed that the father did not make it, “I see,” she paused for a moment before continuing, “we need to get out of here,” before the prince could argue, as she could see he was going to, she interrupted, “we are all low on magicules if we leave now, we can come back stronger and make them pay.”
The prince only took a moment to angrily huff before nodding his head, he was well aware that the village was lost.
Sweeping around, the princess addresses everyone in the clearing, their conversation had lasted just over a minute, “alright everyone, my handmaidens and I will take point, Brothers to the rear, watch our backs so no Orcs follow us, they have thinned out considerably but I will not underestimate our enemy, Ogres to the center, they are low on magicules and I refuse to lose anyone due to negligence.”
The Ogres almost argued until she added the last comment, deflating when they were forced to acknowledge her words as truth, it only took moments for them to get into formation and a minute or two to make it out of the burning village.
Once they made it far enough away, they turned around and watched the glowing orange blaze in the distance, the Ogre princess gave a few soft sobs for their lost home, twin hands dropped onto her shoulders offering silent comfort, empathizing for their loss.
The red headed princess approached the Ogre prince, seeing his distrustful look, “I know that us showing up at the end of the battle is a bit suspicious, allow me to assuage your concerns,” getting a curious nod she continued, “As a Banshee I have the ability to see the future, this is a skill that allows me to see those I consider family or something that directly effects them, usually their death.”
With a raised eyebrow the red Ogre questioned, “and what does that have to do with us?”
All five Banshees in the area blinked quietly at each other, unanimously deciding that they weren’t ready to hear the whole truth regarding their connection to these Ogres, the princess continued with only half the truth, “the Orc army is a danger to everyone, if it continues to march, I will continue to have visions until it is brought to an end.”
The prince nodded and looked away so he could think on what they should do now, the elder Ogre came up next to him, “whatever you and the princess decide young master, we will follow.”
Nodding his head again he turns back to the red haired woman in front of him, who merely meets his eyes calmly, he is sure she and her companions just saved their lives, if they meant harm, they could have just left them there, so he takes a deep breath and tilts his head to the side slightly, “what should we do now then?”
She smiled softly at his concession before looking off to the southeast, “we need to head in that direction, we will find someone extremely powerful that will be able to help us defeat the Orc Lord.”
Everyone else in the area drew back in shock, “the Orc Lord?!”
“Yes, as we are now, we can’t do anything to him, but there is a leader of a Village in that direction that will get a request from the dryads to defeat him,” she gets mild amusement from the looks of shock on everyone’s face.
Getting himself back under control the Ogre prince sighs, “then we head in that direction, lead the way, Princess.”
Blushing softly at his words she spun around and immediately started off in the right direction, much to the amusement of the rest of the Banshees, as she drew closer to her handmaidens they started to giggle, “oh, shut up!” she whisper shouted at them.
Her brothers watched on for a moment before snorting in amusement at the prince’s confusion at the abrupt departure, “come on,” they motioned after the women as they walk away, “we should follow them, before they leave without us.”
Chapter 2: Meeting the Village Leader
Summary:
The group finds just who they were looking for.
Notes:
as promised here is a much longer chapter
Chapter Text
They had been traveling for two days before the Banshee princess swung her arm out to halt everyone, “hold on,” she whispered, “there is a hunting party in the area, we should head them off in the clearing ahead,” seeing their confused looks she continued, “They are from the Village of the powerful leader I mentioned a few days ago.”
“Then shouldn’t we just introduce ourselves and ask to speak to their leader?” the purple warrior asked.
The princess shook her head, “no we need to draw them here, we need to prove our strength to the Village before they will be comfortable bringing us into the fold, plus I know you Ogres wouldn’t feel right until you can assess for yourselves the power of the leader you will be following.”
Grinning down at her, “you know us well, Princess,” the prince has noticed she blushes every time he calls her that, and he vowed days ago that would be what he calls her from now on.
Fighting down the blush without success, “Yes well,” taking a breath she continued, “we shouldn’t hurt the hunting party, at least not very much, if you could put the majority to sleep Princess?” aiming the question at the pink Ogre.
Of course,” they had been working on building up her confidence in the last few days and the Banshee princess and the Twins are proud to say that it has been working.
Before anything else can be said they watched several monsters burst into the clearing, shocked at what they see, “those are Hobgoblins riding Dire Wolfs!” the blue ninja quietly exclaims.
“Yes, do you see now why we will need this leader’s help, if he has these monsters under his rule?”
The whole party nodded their heads, “good, Princess, you surprise them first by putting most of them asleep, leave the tall hobgoblin, the one with the bulbus nose, and the large Dire Wolf with the white mane awake.” pointing at her brothers, “you two protect the Princess.”
Getting acknowledgement, she pointed at the blue ogre, the old one, the large one, and her handmaidens, “stay back in the tree line, we don’t need everyone for this, only come out when the leader gets here.”
She pointed at the purple warrior after she knew the others understood, “keep the tall hobgoblin busy, I’m sure you won't have a problem with him,” the warrior gives a serious look and slight nod back.
Looking at the remaining Ogre, “good, you and I will go after the short hobgoblin and the dire wolf alpha,” here she gives him a stern look, “they won't be a challenge but please remember not hurt them too bad.”
He gives a lightly offended look back but agreed none the less, “good, let us go out there and take the next step towards avenging our villages!”
With a loud roar they leap out of the tree line and into battle, it doesn’t take long for what looked like a small blue haired child to run into the clearing right after the prince took an offence to a rude comment the short hobgoblin made about the red headed woman next to him, cutting the man and flinging him across the clearing.
Seeing the mask on the child's face the prince goes into a bit of a rage thinking they were conspiring with the masked Majin who attacked their village, it takes a bit of convincing and a huge display of power from the child before he stops.
Taking a knee in front of the slime that is now on the back of the dire wolf alpha, “I apologize for our rash actions, I saw the mask and could no longer think rationally.”
“I understand, my name is Rimuru Tempest,” patting the head of the Alpha, “and this is Ranga, why don’t we go back to my village?”
The prince blinked at his blasé attitude, “but we hurt your people?”
Snorting the slime answered, “and we put the hurt on yours, but no one died or was seriously injured, plus we are having a party, the more the merrier right?”
It took a moment for him to process that statement before he looked over at the woman standing next to him, it only took seconds of eye contact for him to understand what she was saying, turning back to the slime, “very well we will go with you, would you like assistance with hunting as we interrupted your hunting party?”
Rimuru took a moment to consider before nodding, knowing it would make the newcomers feel better for their misstep.
Both leaders bowed slightly in thanks and turned around, making eye contact with the blue ninja and reddish pink haired twin with the bow, both knowing what they wanted and moved over to the hunting party.
Looking back towards the slime the larger party started making their way back to the village, informing Rimuru when he asked that none of the newcomers had names, it wasn’t long later that the hunting party caught up with two bulldeer's in tow.
That evening both new leaders were sitting on a blanket just inside the tree line on the fringes of the party, watching on with amusement, with them was the largest ogre, the elder ogre, Kaijin, Rigur, Rigurd, and the twin banshees.
“So,” Kaijin started hesitantly, “what are six Ogres doing traveling with five Banshees?”
Sharing a look, the woman started, “we were driven from our home by an army of Orcs.” the prince just nodded.
All the monsters that hail from Rimuru’s village spew out their drinks in shock, Kaijin finds his voice first, “Orcs? And an army? But both Ogres and Banshees are stronger monsters!”
The man scowls, “regardless they were stronger than they used to be, and their numbers filled the forest, they were also all in full plate mail armor like the human's wear and carried weapons.”
“Is that really a problem?” mumbled Gobta as he walked around the large hobgoblin king,
“Hey Gobta, yes this indicates the Orcs are probably working for someone else,” Rigurd replied.
The prince growled, which was echoed from the large ogre next to them, “they are, there was a masked Majin who was extremely powerful with them when they attacked our village.”
Rigurd questioned “And when you saw Lord Rimuru with a mask you assumed he was connected to the one who attacked your village that was why you were so angry and attacked him.”
“Yes.”
“But what does this all mean?” Gobta butted in.
Rigur answered, “it's only a guess but it could mean that the Orcs have sided with a Demon Lord, but we can’t know for sure.”
Kaijin brought his hand up to his chin to ponder, “A Demon lord huh?”
Glancing over Rigurd voiced his concerns, “perhaps but why side with Orcs?”
“Hm, I’m not sure but I can tell you this, of my three hundred brethren, only us six managed to survive,” the Ogre prince stated.
The Banshee princess nodded her head, “Yes, we may have been a smaller village with only numbering just over a hundred, we were also eradicated down to just the five you see here.”
“I see,” Rimuru walked up to their group and leaned against a tree next to the blanket, “no wonder you were so upset.”
Smirking, “had your fill of meat already Rimuru?” the comment caused the woman next to him to giggle.
Leaning up against a tree next to their blanket, “I’m taking a break, your sister and handmaidens are really something,” which elicits curious glances towards the group farther into the camp. “The Princess knows so much about medicinal and cooking herbs, and your handmaidens are so naturally helpful that the goblinas took to them immediately.”
His words bring soft smiles to both leaders face, the prince answers first, “Yes, she was a sheltered child, so it probably means the world to her that she is being relied on.”
“My handmaidens and I grew up together, but it was drilled into them that their role was to serve me, my mother was a task master, and refused to have it any other way, so all they know is to serve, they seem so much happier already with more people around,” she gave a sad smile.
Turning to her and the two male banshees the slime questioned, “that reminds me, you call the twins here brothers, but they seem to be older, but you are the princess, are they also princes?”
The woman reaches over and takes the younger twin's hand, this one had purple to pink ombre hair, and shakes her head, “No, Banshee culture is matriarchal, so even though the twins are older they couldn’t hold power, also being male they also didn’t receive the same skills that are passed to daughters,” they both smile back at her, neither bitter with their lot in life, the princess being nothing but loving and kind to them their whole life made them happy to serve under her.
“So, what are you guys going to do now?” Rimuru questioned.
The princess looked over at the leader and tilted her head, “what do you mean?”
“As in what is your next move, will you rebuild your village, or maybe move somewhere else? Both your people are depending on your leadership, aren’t they?”
The ogre prince stared off into the distance with a deep scowl on his face, “that's easy, once we regroup, we go back and get revenge.” the banshee princess letting him speak for both groups for now, knowing that whatever the Ogres do the Banshees will follow, though she had no doubts that they will stay here.
Rimuru sent him a deadpan look, “do you even know where they are?” which was more of a statement than a question. Causing the prince to give a panicked look before pretending he didn’t and taking a drink of his beer, he’s sure that the princess next to him knows where their enemies are but she is also completely sure they need this small blue child to defeat the army and he is inclined to believe her, after all she has been correct so far, and he will continue to believe her until she is proven wrong.
“Might I make a suggestion?” the price’s attention was brought back to the Slime, how about you guys join me and become my subordinates?”
He could barely believe that it took no effort for this to be brought up, he was expecting a bit of a wait at least, the woman next to him placed a light hand on his arm, reminding him that he likely wouldn’t have agreed right away she hadn’t told him what to expect, “Join you?”
Taking a seat Rimuru smiled at the two leaders, “Yeah, I can’t offer much, just food, shelter, and clothing, but you need a home base, right?”
They both nodded softly, but the princess answered, “We do, but that would mean that we could be dragging your village into our vengeance.”
Looking out over his people Rimuru sighed, “I’m not just offering this out of kindness, you said there were thousands of Orcs, and a Demon Lord could be pulling the strings.”
Rigurd nodded his head, “this could also be part of a devilish plot to seize control of the great forest of Jura.”
Rimuru nodded his head and hummed, “which would mean our little village is already in danger, you guys are strong, and adding numbers to our ranks would only help us in the long run, and if you were ever in trouble I would help you out,” here he looked directly at the two sitting next to him, “I would never abandon a friend.”
The ogre prince looked down at the hands in his lap, “I see, please let us give it some thought.”
“Of course, take all the time you need,” his piece said Rimuru stood up, “on that note, back to all you can eat meat.”
The Princess squeezed the hand of the younger twin that she was still holding before standing, causing the prince to stand as well and follow her farther into the forest, the blue ninja stopped him before they could go too far, “it’s not a bad offer, but we will do whatever you and our princess chose.”
The two leaders walk far enough that they could no longer hear the party in the village before they finally stop, the prince takes a deep breath before punching a nearby tree, “if only I was stronger.”
Sighing the princess addressed him, “there was no way you would have been strong enough to stop what happened, I’m sorry if this is insensitive but no matter how many different futures I saw, they all ended up the same, no amount of preparations or training would have changed what happened.”
“I just want to save the few brotheren I have left, and I'm afraid I am not going to be strong enough,” he wasn’t sure what brought him to think he could be vulnerable like this, but he seemed to instinctively know that she not only wouldn’t judge him for it but wouldn’t take advantage of his weakness.
All she did was nod her head, “I completely understand,” and he knew she did, they both just wanted to do what was best for what was left of their people. “If it is strength you want, if we accept this leader’s offer to join his village, he will offer to name all of us.”
This caused him to whip his head up and stare at her with wide shocked eyes, “and will he be successful, not to judge but he is a slime, no matter how many magicules he has, he would be naming nine superior monsters.”
His words had her bursting out in peals of tinkling laughter making him glad of his red skin for the first time in his life as it hid the light blush that rose to his cheeks at the sound, “He will be fine, he will end up falling into a recovery sleep after he names the Ogres for three days, when he wakes, he will name the Banshees, where he will fall asleep for another three days.”
“And that is fine?”
Smiling wryly, “this is not the first time nor the last where he names a whole race only to fall asleep for days.”
Staring off into the forest for a while the prince contemplates the future before turning back to his companion, “then we serve this lord, though I will be giving him the stipulation that we will only follow him until the Orcs have been defeated, then we will likely leave unless we find him suitable.”
The princess nods, “I understand, the Banshees will also serve, though I feel like we will be staying, once a Banshee finds a home, a family, they will protect it to the end,” her she paused, before taking a deep breath and continuing, “the only reason we are not all dead is because our mother had long ago destroyed any connection we felt to our ancestorial home, and I had been having visions for the last half century of a new home, a new family.”
He wasn’t sure how to respond to that, so he only blinked, “I see,” he won't admit it, but he was seriously considering staying if the banshee in front of him did, and for now he refused to acknowledge why, “then we should head back and get some sleep, we can give Rimuru our answer in the morning.
Chapter Text
The next morning finds the two leaders standing before Rimuru in his slime form, “have you two come to a decision on staying?”
The prince answers first, “yes the Ogres are a waring clan, we have been known to follow another when we deem them strong enough, although we will only stay until the Orcs have been dealt with.”
When Rimuru turned to her, the princess didn’t need him to ask, “yes, we will also join, us Banshee’s have been looking for a home.”
“You can do whatever you want after, you can stay to build a nation or go on your way,” Rimuru reassures.
Both leaders take a knee and bow their heads with sighs, and the prince speaks, “then we and ours will follow you.”
it was only moments before they hear Rimuru, “raise your heads, thank you for excepting, please bring in the others.”
When everyone was standing before the slime, Rimuru smiles at them and looks from one end of the tent to the other, “I’ll give you all names to mark you as my subordinates.”
His words visually shocked everyone in the room, even if the two leaders had to fake their surprise, “to all of us my lord?” even though the princess told him about this the prince was still mildly shocked that he was willing to name all of them.
“Why wouldn’t I? Makes things easier, doesn’t it?” Rimuru smiled at his perplexed audience.
The prince eyed the Lord, “Are you sure?”
“Please don’t do this,” the Ogre Princess butted in, “naming someone takes a lot of power, and is very risky, and we are already strong.”
Rimuru smiles kindly at the princess, “it will be fine, no need to be worried about me.”
“But...”
Smirking, “Are you saying you don’t want to be named?”
“Well not exactly...”
Here the prince barged back into the conversation, “We except,” they didn’t need to have the Lord rescinding his offer because his sister was worried about him, which was fair, but he knew the Lord would be fine, as the princess had told him he would be, “it would be our honor.”
Giving a nod the elder Ogre nodded, “we will abide by whatever the young master wishes.”
Rimuru smiles in welcome and walks in front of the Ogre prince, “alright your name is Benimaru!”
He gains a glazed look to his eyes as soon as he said the name but continued down the line, a shared look with the Banshee princess shows what they both were thinking, their new lord underestimated how many magicules it would take to name them, and it was only a matter of time before he completely passed out.
The ogre princess became, “Shuna,” the elder, “Hakurou,” the large one, “Kurobee,” the blue ninja, “Soei,” and the purple warrior woman became, “Shion.”
Before he could continue, he made it to the Banshee princess but fell and reverted to his slime form, looking down at the dimmed mass of slime in her arms the banshee princess smiled softly and looked at her family and newly named friends, “you should go lay down, I will look after our lord, your transformations due to your new names will take a lot out of you, I will use the next three days to look for a way that he can name us banshees without the drawback of passing out for days.”
The newly named Benimaru waited until the last of the group left until it was just him and the princess with the passed-out lord, “if you don’t mind Princess, I would like to remain here with you.”
Blushing heavily the aforementioned princess carried their lord to his padded pedestal and placed him on it, before sitting at the base where she could protect him in his time of vulnerability, then she patted her lap and gestured for Benimaru to lay down, “I wasn’t being facetious Ben, you will be incredibly drained here soon, if you don’t want to leave, you should at least lay down.”
It was the prince's turn to blush before he said to hell with it and smirked roguishly back at her, and lay in her lap, “Ben? I like it, though if you wanted to be close to me all you had to do was ask Princess.”
Raising one hand to cover her furiously blushing face she took the other and lightly pushed at the head in her lap, “Your lucky I don’t have a pillow on me, or I would smother you with it,” she said lightly.
Benimaru snorted lightly and his speech was slightly slurred as he seemed to already be drifting off to sleep, “You would never actually hurt me Princess...”
The princess smiled softly down at the sleeping prince, “No, not even our lord would come before you, Benimaru.” She said these words softly so none could hear her, for these were words from her heart and not ready to be heard by others.
For the next three days the princess sat there as everyone waited for Rimuru to wake from his self-induced slumber, the first day she had the prince in her lap as she threaded her fine fingers through his hair as he slept.
The next day he awoke but didn’t move, neither pointing out that it was inappropriate for their current relationship.
The third day saw Benimaru and his clan walking through the village to get a feel for the land and how everything was set up, and getting a feel for the lord they chose to follow from the people's point of view, they had to admit that he seems well loved which spoke volumes for the slime.
As they made their way back to the Lord's tent, they could hear the banshee princess exclaim, “ah, Lord Rimuru, welcome back!” They quietly made their way inside as he questioned what happened.
“Lord Rimuru, I am glad to see you well, my name is Benimaru.” he said when there was a lull in conversation.
Rimuru looked at the new person in his tent, “Oh are you the young master of the Ogres?”
“Yes, though we have evolved into the Kijin because of the names you bestowed us.”
It took a moment for Rimuru to process everything he has been told before turning to the Princess to his side, “Then did I get to name the banshees?”
Smiling softly at him, “No my Lord, you made it through the six Ogres but fell into a recovery sleep before getting to us.”
“I see, well we can’t have that, please have the Banshees come back to the tent and I will get them named.”
Before they could continue or Rigurd could return with the rest of her tribe the princess spoke up, “My Lord, I don’t wish to overstep but we don’t want you to fall into another recovery sleep so soon, things will come to a head in the very near future and we need you awake for them.” seeing him getting ready to protest she plowed on, “there is something I should tell you before the others get here.”
Getting a nod from her lord she delved into the specifics of her abilities to see the future and what that will mean for the village, “I can’t divulge too much at once or things that need to happen will not come to pass, but I will tell you what I can when I can.”
Rimuru nods his head, “I understand, so what can you tell me?”
“Not a lot at the moment unfortunately, but I can tell you that if you give an hour between each name for me and mine you will not fall into a recovery sleep.”
Nodding again he goes to say something, but Rigurd comes back with the rest of the banshees, “I will name the Princess first if that’s alright?” getting a round of agreement he turns to her, “Your name will be Aurora,” after the flash of light he continued, “In my world Aurora means beauty, and I know some lore about Banshees, but I will say, you have the most beautiful, kindest soul I have ever seen.”
His words had her falling to her knees in tears, causing the rest of her family to follow her to the ground and pulling her into a ‘cuddle puddle’ as they use to call it as children, and all of them seemingly letting out years of pent up, repressed trauma and pain, once she had collected herself they all rose to their feet, and the newly dubbed Aurora bowing low, “Thank you my Lord, you have no idea what that meant to me.”
He smiled softly at the group, “I have a feeling and your welcome, as it has been nearly an hour, I would like to name the next,” getting another round of agreement he continued, pointing at the older of the two handmaidens with the white, blue hair, “Your name will be Lillian.”
This continued for the next four hours, the other handmaiden with orange hair receiving the name, “Penelope,” the older of the twin brothers with the reddish pink hair and good with a bow was named, “Gladiolus,” and the younger with the pink and purple ombre hair was bestowed the name “Lupine.”
