Work Text:
“Please daddy! Please!”
“Jojo, why don’t you do mine again?” You asked gently to the pouty six-year-old, carefully brushing her bangs off her face.
“But I wanna do daddy’s!” Jolyne said. She had the most adorable expression, with her big green eyes popping out. Her entire face was covered in make-up; her eyelids wearing vibrant pink (matching with her rosy cheeks) and a shimmery pink lipstick. You even helped her by drawing some yellow tiny stars on her cheeks which she adored.
It was the other day when Jolyne had asked why you took quite the time in the bathroom when you introduced her to the beauty world. To say she was fascinated was a statement. Ever since then, every once in a while, you let her creativity shine by letting her do your make-up, while other days she let you do hers. Jotaro hadn’t had the possibility of being the test subject. Yet.
You looked up to Jotaro, who had been silently watching. His hat was covering half of his face, creating a shadow over it, though you knew he was calculating whether or not to comply his daughter’s request.
He thought for a moment. It was raining cats and dogs outside so he knew he wouldn’t be leaving the house for the rest of the day. He had just come home from work, so even though all he wanted to do was to lay down with both his girls in his arms (preferably with the smaller one asleep)—
Jotaro sighed with a small tug on his lips. “Okay.”
—her happiness meant just as much. Even if that meant his face would become the next canvas his daughter would be painting.
“YAY! Thank you, daddy! Thank you!” Jolyne exclaimed and, in an instant, attached herself to her father’s leg. Jotaro returned the gesture by placing his large hand on her head, smooching her hair a bit.
“I did not just spend an incredibly amount of time basically taming her hair just for you to do as you please, Mr. Kujo.” You said with a teasing glint in your eye, as if your smile didn’t betray you. “Go get the make-up, honey.” You kissed the top of your daughter’s hair and lightly pushed her forward to which she followed on to the direction of her bedroom.
Jotaro chuckled and the moment Jolyne was out of his sight, his arms were hugging your waist tightly. You of course immediately returned the action, your arms secluding its place around his neck. Soon enough, your fingers were twirling and brushing the hair on his nape, something you knew he loved, for he always seemed to relax when you did. He hummed contently.
“Another thing she’s inherited from you.” You said almost in a whisper and he could just hear the smile on your face. “Which I dearly love.”
Slowly, almost as if he didn’t want to, Jotaro broke apart from his hold to instead look you in the eye. It took all your willpower to not let your grin show as you saw his tainted cheeks.
You must have failed though, for his lips were enveloped in yours the next second, effectively making you stop grinning. But really, if the Jotaro Kujo who turned out to be your husband was kissing you with such passion and love, would it really be called a defeat?
You were feeling almost overwhelmed with the way he was deepening the kiss. So much were you feeling (even after six years of marriage) that you almost, almost missed the sound of small footsteps.
Instantly you pulled away, breathing heavily to then look at your daughter coming in with a small make-up bag. “I’m back!” She grinned.
Jotaro pulled his hat over his eyes. “You sure are, Jolyne.” He sighed, managing to control his breathing a little bit better than you and said, “let’s get this over with.” Not really trying to delay the inevitable. You openly laughed at that, and felt a small punch on your shoulder courtesy of Star Platinum. Taking the punch without much fuss you smiled at the stand, him giving you one back as he faded back to his user.
Father and daughter walked into the living room with you in tow. Jolyne turned around and quickly, putting her bag on the coffee table, started to pick her ‘materials’.
Jotaro flopped on the couch, but not before taking his white coat off which you easily took and placed it on the coat rack. You had pulled two chairs, one smaller for your little bouncing ball and one normal size for you to stay at his side.
“You already know what color you’ll use for eyeshadow, Jojo?” You asked to the still smiling child, who was rummaging into the bag. God she was so adorable. Yet another trait she and her father shared.
“Eyeshadow?” Jotaro lazily raised an eyebrow, still laying down on the couch. With a look over your shoulder you could clearly see that the man was dead tired.
“Blue!” Jolyne loudly exclaimed, much to Jotaro’s dismay, excited green eyes staring back at yours. You gave her an encouraging nod.
Without wasting any more time, Jolyne picked a small heart shaped palette, with multiple eye shadows, a pair of applicators and a lipstick. She grabbed one of the applicators and dug it on the poor blue eyeshadow. Yeah, she was definitely excited.
She turned back around to face her father and stood up on her chair, using Jotaro’s body as a cushion to lean on. She quickly dug the applicator over your husband’s left eyelid with more strength than it was necessary. Jotaro winced, sitting up a bit to rub his eye. “Jolyne.” He warned. “Be careful.”
“Jojo, remember what I told you when we practiced? Gentle movements.” You explained. “Like this.”
You grabbed the other small applicator, applying a little bit of the eyeshadow and seeing as Jotaro had laid back down again with his eyes closed, you gently rubbed it over his right eyelid. “Gentle.” You repeated, to which Jotaro hummed.
“Okay, mommy.” Jolyne said, your explanation seemingly managing to calm her down a bit. “You finish that eye, I’ll continue with this one.” She said, squinting her eyes looking as concentrated as a six-year-old could. You melted.
You and Jolyne continued to work on your respective eyes, and now that her movements were at least gentler than before, Jotaro had relaxed once more. With you on sight, he knew he wouldn’t have another eye-poking issue.
You let her use some of her pink eyeshadow as a blush and soon enough she was spraying her little fingers over Jotaro’s cheeks as carefully as she could. It was at that moment that you noticed he was asleep, with his lips slightly parted and unfurrowed eyebrows.
Slowly, you lifted his hat from his head, freeing his hair to which you stroked with your fingers, untangling the little curls, staring lovingly at him. Who wouldn’t, when he looked this relaxed? This calm?
“Mommy, I’m done!” She whispered excitedly and put back the lid of the small pink lipstick.
“He looks beautiful!” You whispered back and Jolyne nodded.
“He looks like a princess!” Jolyne giggled and quickly covered his mouth.
At the adorable sound Jotaro’s hand twitched, you gently grasped it and by him giving you a small squeeze you knew he was stirring back from his short sleep. He was a light sleeper after all.
“He sure looks like one, Jojo.” You giggled lightly and suddenly, you had an idea and grinned at her. “Say, do you think this princess will wake up with a true love’s kiss too?”
You knew Jotaro must be listening to the conversation, for he still didn’t ‘wake up’, but kept a firm hold of your hand.
“Yes, mommy, yes! Try it, try it!”
You squeezed Jotaro’s hand as you slowly moved your face toward his. And once you were close enough you gave him a sweet kiss, not too long and not too short. You pulled away slightly to look at your still unmoving husband.
“What happened? It didn’t work?” Jolyne questioned looking rather worried at her father. She climbed on top of him and sat on his lap to observe him better.
“Mmm… perhaps he’ll wake up if both of us give him a kiss.” You explained pointing your finger to your cheek. Without thinking, Jotaro’s lips curled up a bit. “The princess seems to agree!” You added laughing.
Jolyne laughed loudly at your comment and nodded her head furiously, she did want her dad back after all.
Both of you leaned forward and kissed each cheek of Jotaro’s face and pulled away once again.
When Jotaro slowly opened his eyes he was met with a grinning Jolyne who instantly slumped into his arms, who caught her instantly.
He turned his head to you, who was looking at the both of them with such love, he had no other option but to send you a look just as that.
As adorable as he was, you couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped from your mouth, which you instantly covered with your hand. It wasn’t everyday Jotaro Kujo had his make-up done by a six-year-old after all.
Jotaro clicked his tongue and looked away, his cheeks blushing from embarrassment.
“My goodness, it worked!” You exclaimed, sounding as princess-like as you could, to which Jolyne happily laughed.
“We did it mommy!” She said and let her father breathe for a moment as she went to hug you next. You safely caught her and spun around the room with a fit of giggles.
“Can I see how I look? Or is that a privilege for just the artist?” Jotaro asked sitting up.
You put Jolyne down before she said, “of course, daddy!” And so, she took out a small star shaped mirror from her little bag and handed it to him.
Jotaro stared at himself, moving his face ever so slightly, feigning his contemplation of his daughter’s work. “It’s really good, Jolyne. I’m proud of you.”
Jolyne beamed at the praise and once again, launched herself to her father.
All in all, the evening was pretty fullfilling, with laughs and smiles all around. And soon enough, Jotaro would realize that it wouldn’t hurt to play ‘princess’ again. Not when his heart would warm every time the sounds of his wife and daughter’s laugh would reach his ears.
