Work Text:

A few text messages ringed Doyoung’s phone.

Followed by a blurry and shaky video of a frat party that lasted 5 seconds long.

Imagine waking up as Kim Doyoung, his headache still throbbing as hard as last night when he fell asleep on his desk from studying too hard, and getting these types of texts without any context from the bane of his existence. Jeong fucking Jaehyun , always out to ruin Doyoung's day.

So he dials Jaehyun’s number because his head hurts too much to look at a phone screen.

The line connects.

“Nnnnn…” The sound of rustling could be heard from Jaehyun's line, along with his muffled, deep voice.

Doyoung rolls his eyes, clearly knowing where he is. “Jeong, what do you mean by that?”

Oh- ” more rustling noises, a thump, and Jaehyun cleared his throat. “Doie! Hey, morning.”

“Don’t Doie me,” Doyoung hisses, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Your texts. Why did you send them?”

“Texts?” Jaehyun squeaks. “Oh, OH! Yeah, about that - Your boyfriend! I saw him last night.”

Of course, he’s one of Jaehyun’s basketball teammates.

“And h- he was with another girl! ” Jaehyun shouts, “I saw him! He’s cheating on you!

The thing is, this is not the first time Jaehyun has meddled in Doyoung's relationship. It’s getting more annoying each time, like he’s out for Doyoung’s happiness. Jaehyun clearly hates Doyoung, and doesn’t want to see Doyoung happy, that’s for sure.

“Do you have any evidence?” Doyoung humors him.

“I did! I think there's a video, right? I sent you last night.”

“You mean the trash-ass video you sent me of your dumb party?”

“I zoomed in on them!”

“Can’t see anything,” Doyoung shuts him. “And can you please mind your own business? Stop bothering me and my boyfriend.”

“Doie, you better trust me. Honestly, between us, he’s been totally lying to you. It’s not the first time I’ve seen him with another girl like that.”

“How am I supposed to believe you, Jaehyun? You’re always talking shit about us, just leave us alone.”

“Doyoung-”

And Doyoung ends the line. He was so wrong to call Jaehyun with this throbbing headache killing him, at this point, he’ll really die in college, and it’s 99% due to the existence of Jeong Jaehyun in his life. He’s going to swallow painkillers after this and take a nap before calling his boyfriend to ask him to go out.

.

“Hyung!”

“Hi baby,” Jiwon says, opening his arms wide to welcome Doyoung into a warm hug. Doyoung snuggled his face against the crook of his boyfriend’s jacket, happy to see him for the first time this week. He’s been cramming day and night for his midterms, and now that he’s free, he’s so ready to spend his day with his boyfriend.

“Hmm… you smell really good,” Doyoung whiffs a sweet fruity scent from the hug, “Did you change your perfume recently?”

“Oh, yeah?” Jiwon pushes him away gently and looks at his own clothes. “I did, it’s almost winter so I’m thinking of changing into a new scent. You like it?”

“It smells nice, like cherries.” Doyoung softly inhales his boyfriend’s new scent and says, “I like it.”

Jiwon brings a hand up to ruffle Doyoung’s soft hair. “Now, where does my baby want to go? Anything you’re craving to eat?”

“Hmmm…” Doyoung purses his lips to think.

“We can go wherever you’d like,” Jiwon kisses his lower lips and squeezes his cheeks. “It’s my treat, for my hardworking baby.”

“Then, let’s go to the newly opened cafe! I kinda want to try their pasta.”

“Anything you say, baby.”

They arrive at the cafe that opened 2 weeks ago just outside their campus, famous for their student priced meals and drinks. The cafe has some sort of a nice romantic ambience, with soft music playing in the background. They sit next to the window with a clear view of the campus lake. Doyoung lets his boyfriend order for them, watching him with excitement and giddiness from being out on a date.

Their meals arrive and they proceed to talk while eating, catching up for the last week they’ve been away from each other. As usual, Jiwon asks for Doyoung’s class notes after being busy last week, and sends it to himself through airdrop.

Suddenly, someone approaches their table.

“Hey, Jiwon, man! You’re here again!”

Doyoung recognizes him as Yuta, one of Jiwon’s friends. He’s not very close to his boyfriend’s circle, as Doyoung is more of a nerdy type he clearly doesn’t fit in with the popular kids. He’s lucky that he’s paired with Jiwon once for a class project, and got his confession accepted at the end of the semester. It’s like a dream come true, having your crush liking you back. Doyoung still couldn’t believe having Jiwon as his.

“Haha,” Jiwon laughs, doing his bro handshake with Yuta. “What’s up, man?”

“I literally saw you here yesterday, right?” Yuta says, then looks at Doyoung. “Why are you here again?”

Huh. Doyoung thinks, he’s never told me he’s been here before.

“The food here is clearly good, and I wanted to bring someone special.” Jiwon says, with a tender smile, looking at Doyoung.

“Someone special, huh,” Yuta smirks. “Hey, Jae! I think this table needs your special service.”

Oh hell no. Doyoung grimaces, not him…

The same exact person Doyoung didn’t want to see appears from the kitchen with an apron, wiping his hands on it. “What goes on? I was busy, man.”

Yuta gives him a look, and Jaehyun instantly walks over to Doyoung’s table.

“Huh, it’s you two.” Jaehyun says, “Long time no see, Doie.”

Doyoung looks away from the lake, doing his best to pretend Jaehyun doesn’t exist.

“Captain,” Jiwon greets with a smile, “My compliments to the chef.”

“Of course, I make the best pasta in the world,” Jaehyun stretches his arms to grip on the table edges. “You like it enough to come back for seconds, I see.”

There was some awkward silence and snickering from Yuta, and Doyoung sighs exasperatedly. He gives Jiwon a look, his signature pleading eyes to let him know that he’s uncomfortable. But to his surprise Jiwon was not even looking at him, but talking to some other person that greeted him. That’s what he gets for dating the popular guy in college.

“Doie,” Jaehyun whispers beside him. “Can we talk?”

“No,” Doyoung mouths at him, not wanting people to know that they’re acquainted.

“Baby?” Jiwon calls him, breaking the tension between Jaehyun and Doyoung. “I’ll go out for a bit, someone’s calling me. You can finish your food first, yeah?”

“Oh, uuh…”

“That’s fine, I can accompany him!” Jaehyun offers with a smile, and grabs a chair to sit next to Doyoung. “I’ll make sure he finishes his food, and ask for his rating.”

“Great,” Jiwon says, then walks out with his phone.

“I don’t want to talk to you,” Doyoung says, poking at the now-cold cream mushroom pasta with his fork. It’s half finished. “Doyoung, listen to me. He’s talking to one of his bitches.”

“There you go again-”

“No really, he was here yesterday with one of the cheerleaders and ordered the exact same thing for you. I’m getting really tired of making this fuckass pasta for that bastard. We’re all out of cream because of him.”

“No wonder it tasted like shit,” Doyoung says.

“I don’t lie when I make the best pasta in the world, but I really half assed this one. I had a feeling it’s that bastard’s order.” Jaehyun says.

“I’m done here,” Doyoung wants to stand up but gets stopped by Jaehyun’s sudden grip on his thigh.

“I’ll make you a better one, no, the best pasta you’ve ever had if you come back here without him.”

“Jaehyun, get your paws off me. And no, I won’t be coming back as long as you still work here.”

Jaehyun now crosses his arms on his chest, and presses his lips into a thin line. “You’re that into him?”

Doyoung tries hard not to notice how deep Jaehyun’s dimples are poking his cheeks. “Yeah, I love him.”

Pfft ,” Jaehyun huffs. “He’s a cheating bastard, Doyoung. You deserve much better than that.”

“Jaehyun,” Doyoung shuts his eyes and sighs, gathering all of his thoughts. “This is the last time I’m gonna say this. I don’t believe you, and I know you’re doing this just to mess with me. Now while I’m still in a good mood, I’m kindly asking you to just leave us alone.”

Jaehyun looks at him with a frustrated expression, Doyoung knows that from being with him for the longest time. It’s a look where Jaehyun is angry but he always tries to hold it in, even with Doyoung. It sends a wave of shame to Doyoung, who has said unpleasant things to him just now. Jaehyun almost looks like he’s serious about this.

But who’s to say that Jaehyun wasn’t teasing him?

“I’m going back to Jiwon. He’s already paid right?” Doyoung stands up, without Jaehyun stopping him this time.

Jaehyun sighs, still sitting. “Yes,” he mutters in agreement, looking straight at the ground.

“Then I’ll take my leave. Thanks for the food.”

.

A few months ago…

It’s just Doyoung’s luck to be paired with the most insufferable people for his assignment. He’s always hated socializing, having only a few friends throughout college. And for this class, the professor took liberty to pair students based on their performance in class. And Doyoung, as the class’ top student, is expected to guide these two basketball boys to at least pass the class.

Jaehyun, the basketball club’s captain, whom he’s unfortunately acquainted with ever since they’re young boys, being from the same neighborhood they’ve hung out during their childhood. Up until high school, they’ve been distant since Jaehyun got busy with his basketball activities and Doyoung running the student council.

After high school, they stopped talking when Doyoung moved out to the city with his brother to do some part-time jobs as he prepared for his college entrance exam. It’s peaceful, not carrying the title of Jaehyun’s childhood friend whenever he goes, he’s honestly done with people approaching him just for the sole reason of getting Jaehyun’s number. Jaehyun’s personality has also changed ever since hanging out with his new friends, it’s as if Doyoung doesn’t even recognize him anymore.

So their friendship ends there.

Well until, the moment Jaehyun and another basketball guy Doyoung didn't know the name of sat together with him and other teammates in a circle to discuss the benefits of AI and Robots in daily life.

“Doie,” Jaehyun finally talks to him, despite Doyoung’s avoidance of the whole discussion. “Hey, how have you been?”

“Good,” Doyoung waves off the fact that Jaehyun still calls him by his childhood nickname.

"Great!" Jaehyun smiles, familiar dimples poking his cheeks, even now with less baby fat and a more sculpted face. “Let’s catch up after class.”

They don’t really catch up, because Jaehyun’s always too busy with either his basketball practice or hanging out with his cool friends , as Doyoung likes to describe them. One day though, Doyoung was left alone with another group

to finish the powerpoint slides, one of Jaheyun’s cool friends appeared in front of him. He’s tall and handsome. wears a beanie above his curly hair, smiling at Doyoung sweetly that Doyoung could melt.

“Jiwon,” Doyoung calls out, of course he knows him, they’re in the same group. “You finally came.”

“Yeah, sorry for missing our meetings. The coach is having us practice every evening for the upcoming tournament. I took a quick shower and came, didn’t expect you guys would still be here.”

“We’re still not finished,” the other member says.

“Then maybe I can help? I need time to catch up on what you’re working on first though.”

And so Doyoung takes on the task to brief Jiwon on their points, and Jiwon has listened to him word by word. Doyoung’s heart races when Jiwon agrees to present on behalf of them, thinking that he’s really cool, unlike some freeloader captain that couldn’t even come to attend their presentation day. They grew close, as Jiwon liked how Doyoung helped him with his studies, Doyoung enjoyed all the free treats he got after their tutoring sessions. It’s been a while since Doyoung has developed a relationship with someone other than his roommate, Taeyong.

The day Doyoung confesses his crush to Jiwon is the same day the basketball team won against their rival after a tight match, and they kiss inside an empty classroom, only to be caught by the captain.

“Jiwon, you’re here.”

Jaehyun says from the door, Jiwon looks behind him not letting go of Doyoung’s waist.

“O-oh, captain. Yeah, I had to uh…”

“It’s fine. Coach wants to treat us to a meal, you’re coming?”

Jiwon looks at Doyoung hesitantly, but Doyoung gives him an assuring nod, and mouth a soft, “You can go.”

When Jiwon leaves to change and Doyoung waits for him outside, he finally meets Jaehyun for the first time ever since the day they reunited for the group project.

“So, Jiwon?” Jaehyun breaks the silence.

“What about him?” Doyoung crossed his arms, putting his guard up.

“I don’t remember being a part of the group project?”

Doyoung laughs. “You must have lost track of time, the project is long over. Everyone got an A, by the way. Except for you, because we handed your name to the professor.”

“He was busy training too,” Jaehyun says.

“But he came at the last minute and presented it to us. So he’s eligible to share the marks. Attendance is everything.”

“Doie,” Jaehyun calls, “I don’t remember you being this mean.”

“I’m mean ?” Doyoung scoffs. “I’m just being fair. And it’s not my fault you had to repeat that class.”

“You’ve changed.”

And that made Doyoung look straight at him, his gaze as cold as the night breeze blowing at them. The audacity of Jaehyun saying something like that, saying that Doyoung’s changed as if he’s still the same when Jaehyun’s the one that changed a lot from what he knew. So Doyoung gives him a piece.

“Change… it’s inevitable. We’re not kids anymore, and we both grew up and had some sort of character development. I don’t know what version of me you still have in your head but, I’d like you to know that whatever we had before are just memories. We don’t have to act like friends.”

Another beat of heavy silence.

“Then we can start over?” Jaehyun says after a while.

Doyoung opens his mouth, speechless. Didn’t he just say that they can’t be friends?

“You said it, we’re not kids anymore. And definitely not friends. So as a fellow colleague, I want to get to know you.” Jaehyun reaches out a hand at him, “Nice to meet you, I’m Jeong Jaehyun.”

“Doyoung-ah!”

Before Doyoung can get back at him, the voice of Jiwon running out shakes him from his thoughts. Oh right, he was waiting for his newly made boyfriend.

And so Doyoung leaves Jaehyun still with his arm extended, walking away beside Jiwon.

.

“What makes you think I’ll join a frat party?”

“Come on, Doyoung. It’ll be fun!”

Doyoung loves his roommate to bits, Taeyong has been with him for all his ups and downs. Has been a super great friend for Doyoung, he’s grateful to be able to meet someone like Taeyong. One thing about his roommate is that he’s in a 3 year relationship with one of Jaehyun’s basketball teammates (wait, why is everyone dating the basketball boys?), and frequently joins the weekly parties they throw at their dorm.

“Jiwon didn’t invite you?” Taeyong asks curiously, “They’re celebrating their 10th win this season, it’s a special occasion unlike their normal parties! Their coaches and managers will be there too. It’s an official event.”

The thing is, it’s been days since Doyoung’s talked to Jiwon. After their date, Jiwon said he needed to go back to his hometown after their match and spend time with his family. Doyoung has been waiting for him to call or text everyday but to no avail. He reasons with himself that Jiwon might be busy with his family, so he didn’t want to be a bother.

“I’ll pass,” Doyoung waves his hands, getting back to the Netflix series he’s watching. He doesn’t like loud parties anyways. “He’s not going, he’s back home.”

“What do you mean? Johnny literally just posted that they’re out drinking last night.”

“Huh?” Doyoung sits up to look at Taeyong’s phone, there’s a video of familiar basketball team faces - Johnny taking the video of Yuta hugging Jiwon, whose face is red from drinking and Jaehyun calmly sitting beside them. Doyoung’s heart skips a beat.

“He must’ve arrived yesterday,” he lies to himself.

“Doyoung…” Taeyong says with a lace of concern in his voice. “Is there anything he’s not telling you?”

“No,” Doyoung quickly says. Even if they share everything, Doyoung definitely doesn’t want to share the way his heart churns right now. He sends a quick text to Jiwon asking if he’s back to uni, hoping he’ll get a text soon.

“Remember that one time I told you during Jaehyun’s birthday party and Johnny got shitfaced so bad?” Taeyong speaks up from his bed.

“Uhuh…”

“Johnny told me the next day that he kind of saw Jiwon leaving with some freshman.”

Not you too… Doyoung sighs, “Well you said Johnny was drunk, and I doubt he could see things properly…”

Taeyong opens his mouth, but closes it. “...”

Ping! Doyoung’s phone rings. It’s a text.

Not from Jiwon.

Image

It’s Jaehyun, of course. Doyoung shuts his phone and turns his attention back to his iPad. He doesn’t need to reply to that. But it’s hard to focus on this scene when his phone keeps ringing with text messages, and Taeyong looks up from his phone curiously at Doyoung.

Doyoung’s fingers hover over his keyboard. No, Doyoung. Don’t fall for his tricks.

At the right time, a text from Jiwon appears. Doyoung perked from his bed.

Image

Doyoung frowns at this phone, feeling a sense of distance from his own boyfriend. When they’re together, Jiwon has always made Doyoung feel loved and cherished. But getting his calls and texts was so rare that Doyoung sometimes wished he’s beside him so he didn't have to wait so long.

Image

Doyoung squeals into his pillow, feeling giddy at the thought of his sweet boyfriend. This is what he wanted, this is why he’s been in love with Jiwon ever since that day he confessed.

When Doyoung falls asleep that night with a warm heart that night, his phone pings with a few text messages.

Image

.

Doyoung doesn’t call him. But he’s done something worse.

“You’ve been staring at your ass in the mirror for 10 minutes now, Doie.” Taeyong says from his bed.

“Okay then be honest, does it look good on me?” Doyoung turns around to show himself to Taeyong.

“You look good in anything, and if you needed to hear this: Yes your ass looks fat in those pants.”

“Really?” Doyoung turns back to look at the mirror. He’s made sure that his belt is cinched tight on his waist to accentuate his bodyline. He’s worn that black turtleneck he’s been told he looks hot in, and a necklace to complete the look. He’s out for something on this fine Friday night.

“You look hot for someone who didn’t want to come to the party,” Taeyong comments, having done his own makeup.

“I’m agreeing because you’re going, and Jiwon’s also gonna be there.” Doyoung says, packing his stuff in his bag.

Well, it’s sort of true. Doyoung decides to go for Jiwon, only because of the texts Jaehyun has been sending him, and the uneasy feeling after reading them. It started last night when Taeyong almost confronted him about it and he started to realize something was wrong. His own boyfriend didn’t really care about him, and the constant unwanted reminders have been feeding his mind.

As much as he doesn’t want to admit it’s because of Jaehyun, it IS mostly because of Jeong Jaehyun.

Image

Doyoung scoffs, he’s really adamant about exposing his own cheating bro. Very unlikely of him, aren’t they supposed to be bros before hoes? Jaehyun’s a snitch.

Doyoung types back a reply. No need, I’ll be there soon.

Image

True to his words, he’s already waiting for Doyoung at the front door and just briefly greets anyone passing by to enter their house. He visibly perks up seeing Doyoung and Taeyong walking towards him, and jogs after Doyoung.

“You’re here,” Jaehyun breathes out.

“Yeah,” Doyoung says, then looks at Taeyong, “You can go. I’ll be waiting for Jiwon.”

Taeyong went inside leaving both Jaehyun and Doyoung behind. Jaehyun scratched the back of his head, looking anywhere but Doyoung. Doyoung feels awkward, like Jaehyun has been acting strangely ever since he came.

“Is everything alright?” Doyoung asks, worried.

“Oh, y-yeah! Uh, you look nice.” Jaehyun says, covering his mouth.

“Oh?” Doyoung says, “I put in some effort, actually.”

“It’s nice, you look hot.”

“?”

“Hot like, because you’re wearing a turtleneck. Don’t you feel hot? The weather is crazy nowadays, right?” Jaehyun blabbers, then he calms down. “But you still look good, I’ve never seen you like this.”

“Thanks… I guess?”

Jaehyun clears his throat before inviting Doyoung in, “So uh, I haven’t seen Jiwon anywhere. He might be somewhere around the pool.”

Although Doyoung came with only one intention, he’s starting to feel at ease in Jaehyun’s company. Jaehyun’s house parties have always been the most attended party amongst everyone in college. He never really attended any parties, disliking the crowd and loudness, but being with Jaehyun makes him feel safe and guarded. Doyoung walks close beside him as they navigate through the people.

Somewhere in the crowd, Doyoung has lost Jaehyun to someone pulling him for a drink. Like this, Doyoung is clueless and vulnerable in the middle of the party, unsure what to do or where to go. He feels suffocated and hurriedly makes his way out to the outdoor pool area in hopes of getting some fresh air. He sends a quick text to Taeyong asking if he’s around so he could join him.

As Doyoung waits, his ears catch the group gossiping not far away from him.

“Hey, did you hear? Jiwon just broke up with his girlfriend.”

“What? Again ?! I thought he just got a new one though.”

“Didn’t he already have a boyfriend? That nerdy guy?”

The group laughs.

“That’s a funny joke!”

“You all know Jiwon’s dating him to get better grades right?!”

“Smart dude, I would do that too.”

“I heard someone saw Jiwon with another guy just now, they’re there by the pool.”

Doyoung cranes his head to quickly scan the crowd for the sight of the subject of their gossip. He feels uneasy, his heart is rapidly racing against his chest, praying hard that the Jiwon they’re talking about is not the Jiwon he’s got in mind right now.

At that moment, someone calls out to Jiwon out loud and finally, Doyoung sees him.

Jiwon is dressed up to the nines, and Doyoung’s very sure that he’s bought those clothes for him once for his birthday. Doyoung’s blood boils, his fists shaking when he sees another guy clinging to the same clothes and whispering to Jiwon’s neck. His boyfriend smiles down at the guy and leans in for a kiss.

That activates Doyoung’s fight response and before he knows it he’s charging towards the scene.

“Doyoung!”

His steps halt as someone hugs his waist and pulls him away from his trail.

“What the fuck?” Doyoung hisses, helpless in the person’s strong hold in his arms. It was Jaehyun.

“Doyoung, I’m sorry I lost you earlier. They wanted to talk to me and…”

“I don’t care!” Doyoung shouts at him. “I need to talk to Jiwon.”

“No, don’t!” Jaehyun holds him tighter. “Stay here, let him be.”

“What?? You’re asking me to watch him suck face with some random guy without doing anything?? Weren’t you the one that wanted to prove this to me?? Now that I’ve seen it, let me go at him!”

“No, please Doie! Trust me. I have a plan.”

Doyoung calms down in Jaehyun’s hold, looking into his desperate eyes. The last time he saw Jaehyun was when they’re waiting for Jiwon outside the stadium. That night he told Jaehyun to leave him alone. It’s bare and honest, and it convinces Doyoung that Jaehyun is taking care of him amidst this chaos.

“Just… watch.” Jaehyun says this behind him, still hugging his waist tight. Doyoung looks back to Jiwon who’s already going at it with the guy, and Doyoung looks at it with teary eyes. What if this is one of Jaehyun’s tricks to play with him? Jiwon is Jaehyun’s friend, and of course he’s going to support his friend. Who is Doyoung to believe Jaehyun would do something nice for him? Doyoung might’ve been just a victim of one of their silly pranks again. I can’t believe this, I can’t believe I need to see this.

Who is Doyoung to Jaehyun?

Suddenly there’s loud shouting and someone running around and pushed both Jiwon and the guy into the pool. Doyoung opens his mouth in shock, jumping into Jaehyun’s hold as he watches his scum boyfriend fall into the pool helplessly. Everyone gasped and took out their phones to record the moment.

“Park Jiwon is a cheating bastard!” Someone shouts and points at Jiwon who rises to the pool surface. “Everyone raise your hand if you’ve been played by this scumbag!”

To Doyoung’s surprise, more than half of the people gathered in the area raised their hands and looked at Jiwon angrily. Jiwon has climbed up from the pool and now stood with his clothes drenched looking like a wet dog. Everyone approached him and threw their drinks at his face.

“Let’s get him!”

(Don’t worry, no violence is condoned at Jaehyun’s house parties.)

“What the hell is going on…” Doyoung finally says that after all of his shock died down. He turns to look at Jaehyun, “You planned this?”

“Well, not just me…” Jaehyun smiles at him, “I just asked around and let them do the planning, and provide my precious pool as their platform.”

“That’s so…” Doyoung returns his smile and says, “... evil of you. I like that.”

“Did it all for you, so you can see what I’ve been talking about.”

“Thank you,” Doyoung cups Jaehyun’s face and leans in to plant a kiss on his cheek. “I believe you.”

Jaehyun’s eyes widen and his ears turn red. His expression makes Doyoung laugh. “Now I think I owe you one. How can I make it up to you?”

The way Doyoung laughs and the feeling of having him in his arms have severely lowered Jaehyun’s inhibitions, and he blurts out whatever’s on his mind.

“I kind of want to kiss you right now.”

“Oh?” Doyoung tilts his head, but is not surprised.

“Only if you’d let me.”

Doyoung never really thought of Jaehyun in any other way than he was his childhood friend that grew apart. When they were kids, he really enjoyed playing around with Jaehyun and laughing at Jaehyun’s jokes. Jaehyun was an honest and gullible kid back then, and Doyoung really likes him for that. Doyoung never really got the chance to unpack his feelings when Jaehyun disappeared from his life, was he angry? Was he sad? He’s always thought that it was just because he’s lost a friend.

But Doyoung didn’t know that all this time, maybe Jaehyun wasn’t just a friend.

He likes him.

So Doyoung breathes out a soft, “Yes.”

Jaehyun leans in to capture his lips, it’s chaste and polite. He hugs Doyoung tighter in his arms, and slowly sucks on his bottom lips, having Doyoung let out a satisfied noise. Jaehyun walks him over to one of the tables and sits Doyoung there, and he kisses him harder. Now nibbling on each other’s lips, Doyoung feels Jaehyun’s hands wander all over his waist and stays respectfully there. He reaches out to wrap his arms around Jaehyun’s neck, then opens his mouth for Jaehyun to ravage with his tongue.

He’s almost forgotten that they were in the middle of a crowded party.

“Hey, is that Jaehyun?”

Someone whistles, “Whoo, go get it, Captain!”

“Who’s that with him? He’s kind of hot.”

“I saw him earlier, he’s so pretty.”

Doyoung’s heart races as he listens to the people talk about them, while Jaehyun is busy kissing his neck. Now he can properly look at the others, his eyes locked on one person only.

“Oh shit, isn’t that Kim Doyoung?”

“Doyoung? That nerd Jiwon is dating?”

"Well, not anymore…”

Jiwon’s looking at them with a priceless expression.

Doyoung smirks.

“Doyoung deserves someone much better anyway.”

He pulls on Jaehyun's hair and captures his lips again, this time he uses his tongue to lick into Jaehyun’s mouth, causing Jaehyun to moan into the kiss. All this while he opens his eyes and looks straight at his scum-now-ex-boyfriend, then proceeds to let Jaehyun have his way with him. He kind of enjoys the attention people have on them going at each other, it’s a newfound fun that Doyoung just recently discovered.

When they’re done, Jaehyun looks at him with blown eyes and glistened lips. His hair is now messy thanks to Doyoung’s handiwork. “Doyoung.” He calls out.

“Jaehyun.”

“I think I like you,” Jaehyun says.

Doyoung leans in to rub their noses together, “You think?”

“No, I really, really like you.” Jaehyun closes his eyes and kisses Doyoung sweetly. “Will you be my boyfriend?”

“Hmm…” Doyoung hums. They’re both in the heat of the moment, and their judgment could be clouded by their desires. He also has unfinished business with Jiwon, although he likes Jaehyun as much, he wants to have a clean start with him. “Not now…”

“Will you wait for me?”

Jaehyun blinks at him, then flashes his dimples. “I’ve waited all these years for you, I don’t mind waiting a few more if you ask me to.”

Doyoung feels his heart skip a beat, he’s definitely going to talk about that with Jaehyun later.

But for now, Jiwon.

“Let me talk to him first, okay?”

Jaehyun seems hesitant, but he lets Doyoung. “Call me as soon as you’re done?”

“Sure.”

Doyoung walks over to Jiwon who was pathetically standing, wet from pool water and smelling like cheap alcohol people poured at him. He couldn’t help but laugh at his face, seeing Jiwon in such a bad shape made him feel so much better after being angry at him earlier.

“Doyoung,” Jiwon calls out.

“I’ll keep it simple. We’re done here.” Doyoung says curtly.

“I can explain-”

“I think we both made it clear tonight we don’t need each other anymore? Unless, you need my class notes?”

Jiwon looks at him bewildered, too speechless to say anything.

“I can still give you my notes, but I’m gonna have to start charging you for them… maybe $10 per paper? I already included a special ex-boyfriend discount for you.”

“Doyoung, please.”

“This is the end for us. Don’t contact me anymore and work on yourself. Maybe start with a shower, you stink!”

Doyoung turns his heel to walk away but Jiwon grabs his wrist.

“So, are you going back to the Captain?”

“What about Jaehyun?”

“How long have you been with him?”

Doyoung laughs. “If you’re thinking I’ve also been cheating on you, you’re dead wrong. I don’t lead such a low life like you, Park Jiwon. I’ve been with Jaehyun for what… 10 minutes? Since you fell into that pool with your little boy toy. Send my regards to him by the way.”

Jiwon loosens his grip on Doyoung’s wrist.

“That’s all, I’m done talking to you. Toodles!”

Honestly speaking, this is the best Doyoung has ever felt in his 3 years of university (minus the times he’s gotten into the dean’s list). Finally, his shoulders feel much lighter after throwing Jiwon back into the trash, right where he belongs.

Doyoung walks away from the party, and fishes out his phone. He likes Taeyong’s texts and videos of the scene earlier and tells him he’s going home. Then, he opens Jaehyun’s texts.
