Escape Death by the skin of your teeth.

Summary:

When Luo Binghe saw a figure dressed in green robes, he followed like a moth to a flame.
When his dreams escaped his control and conjured up Qing Jing Peak, his Shizun usually followed.
And yet, when he approached the figure, raising his claws, ready to strike and tear this scumbag limb from limb, his Shizun turned as he neared, and did the oddest thing.
He smiled.
“Luo Binghe.” He spoke his name with favour, almost excitement almost as if he was…happy to see his wayward disciple.
“You’re a demon and incredibly Handsome, so of course you’re Binghe.”
...What?
Upon further investigation Luo Binghe realised this entity had a soul! But it wasn't his Shizun, that old man was still alive in his dungeon bereft of his legs. Who was this creature wearing his Shizuns face?
And why was he so kind?

Chapter 1: Beloved Shizun

Chapter Text

[System warning- misplacement of soul user 002 Shen Yuan please standby]

When Shen Yuan opened his eyes, he found himself somewhere peaceful.

A mountain top, alongside a forest of bamboo.

It figures that when he died he would be surrounded by something the last flashes of his brain produced before he officially passed on.

He wasn’t afraid, how can he be when he’s died? The worst has happened.

He wonders what else will happen in this last dream before he moves on, would this be it? Would he drink Meng Mo’s soup?

Who knows?

But when he saw something dark appear at the corner of his vision, he turned and blinked surprised.

 Luo Binghe stood before him.

Ah, that makes sense, PIDW was the last thing he read before he died maybe it was his subconscious making his favourite protagonist the reaper that will take him away.

Shen Yuan smiled, to be fair, he may have hated the story, but he never hated Luo Binghe.

The other slowed down his gaite, Luo Binghe was coming towards him with intent but when Shen Yuan smiled he faltered.

 It was surprisingly cute.

When Luo Binghe saw a figure dressed in green robes, he followed like a moth to a flame.

When his dreams escaped his control and conjured up Qing Jing Peak, his Shizun usually followed.

Shen Qingqiu was nothing but a husk in the dungeons, but here in his dreams ripping that scumbag to peieces always brought him pleasure, never mind the damage it does to Luo Binghe, he was already damaged? What more could do to him?

And yet, when he approached the figure

Raising his claws, ready to strike and tear this scumbag limb from limb, his Shizun turned as he neared, and did the oddest thing.

 He smiled.

“Luo Binghe.” He spoke his name with favour, almost excitement almost as if he was…happy to see his wayward disciple.

“Of course you would be here!” He nodded self assuredly.

And Binghe paused before adjusting, with a smile of his own.

 “Oh, and why is that?”

He reframed from calling this entity his shizun, yet.

He wondered if maybe it was some form of madness he created of his Shizun…

But then the creature did the strangest thing.

It approached him! The man circled around Luo Binghe, like an emporer assessing a potential concubine.

Luo Binghe bristled, until he saw the self satisfied look on the man’s face as he nodded.

“You’re a demon and incredibly Handsome, so of course you’re Binghe.”

He spoke and kept looking at him with that strange look.

No one had ever looked at Luo Binghe like that before.

He was caught of guard, yet the strange man crossed his arms.

“I died so of course it makes sense that of course my mind would create this world before I pass on.”

Luo Binghe caught onto that and latched onto it, “How did you die?”

Maybe he had to prompt the dream, then he’ll continue with ripping his limbs off.

“I choked to death on a meat bun. Figures. But no I will say that what did me in was my fevir induced rage at the like of garbage I was forced to read through!”

Luo Binghe almost took a step back from the switch.

Choking to death checks out, Shen Qingqiu did swallow the shards of Xuan Su.

“To think I invested so much of my time just for it to end that horribly! So much world building- and monsters and plots! Pointless! A complete waste of my time, over 90,000 chapters and for what!? Ugh I only read it for the protagonist he was the only one who made it bearable.”

Luo Binghe lips twitched into amusement.

 “And who was the protagonist?”

Probably Shen Qingqiu, maybe his Shizun went mad and pursuaded himself it was a story-

“You?” Now the man who had labelled as Shen Qingqiu looked confused.

“Isn’t that why your here? Conjured up as my favourite character? Maybe explain to me why Luo Binghe’s story was so tragic?”

…this was not his Shizun.

On second thought, maybe Luo Binghe had started to lose it- after killing so many Shen Qingqiu’s in his dreamscape it was akin to self harm.

Maybe it came back to bite him in the ass.

To create this figment to look and act like his Shizun who was kind ?

Luo Binghe might be sick to even think of this apparition and yet- Meng Mo wasn’t anywhere to be found to confirm this apparition…

But the more he approached and the lack of fear from the other made Luo Binghe grow more bold as he leaned in closer.

His Shizun looked up at him, always irritated before at his height but this one didn’t mind it, only looked bemused by how close Luo Binghe was and even took advantage himself to look at his face more closely.

His eyes kept flickering up to his huadin and seemed in awe of it.

And by the close proximity Luo Binghe realised with a start that this person, this apparation was real.

It was small and weak but it had a soul.

 Just who was this person?

“Shizun?” He tried, maybe it was Shen Qingqiu’s soul- maybe it was reincarnated from another life and he was softer.

But what did he mean by story?

Shen Qingqiu looked behind him, almost looking for someone before his gaze pinned back to Luo Binghe’s looking perplexed.

 “Shizun?”

Not once has he ever seen Shen Qingqiublook this way, he was always a cool jade statue, unfeeling, cold and aloof.

Looking so lost, it was like looking at a different person.

Luo Binghe took his hand- another thing wrong, Shen Qingqiu was repulsed by Luo Binghe’s touch- and led him towards the lake.

In dreams certain details were fuzzy until Luo Binghe refined them.

But reflections showed someone’s true image.

As he neared closer, his suspicions were confirmed.

The creature had short hair, and wide frames on his face. He was also so much more shorter in the water.

 Luo Binghe found himself mesmerised.

Sure, the young man wasn’t a peerless beauty, but he was pretty.

And had the strangest most revealing clothes.

The other was just as shocked, “what-“

He paused to see the mouth move in time.

He raised his hand and touched his long hair.

So only Luo Binghe could see his true self.

 “Who is that?”

The man asked the reflection, but he had a feeling he knew, his face growing pale.

“Shen Qingqiu, the Qing Jing Peak Lord.”

The man’s green eyes snapped to his in horror.

 “I’m the scum villain !?”

He looked honestly horrified, raising his hands up to clutch his head in distress.

Luo Binghe had to hold back everything from smiling.

His lip gave betrayed him by twitching.

Seeing this creature wear his Shizuns skin and act in such a way was almost a miracle to see.

This is Shen Qingqiu!? He’s so good looking and yet he was jelaous of a kid? What was his problem?” The self hate and disgust was entertaining. Luo Binghe had to raise a hand to hide his traitorous mouth that couldn’t hide his smile.

The man was even spitting on Shen Qingqiu’s divinity by falling to his knees and peering into the water more closely.

Hmm, Shen Qingqiu would never do anything so ungraceful. And yet, if Luo Binghe came across such a sight he would assume this was a fairy, or some immortal beast or tree cultivating a human form and seeing it for the first time.

Shen Qingqiu gazed up at him, eyes filled with emotion, and Luo Binghe inhaled, his smile vanishing.

“Why do I look like Shen Qingqiu?” The poor thing sounded so dejected, honestly Luo Binghe couldn’t blame him, who would want to be the Scum Villain.

Luo Binghe manuevered his robe sleeve and sat beside the man.

“I don’t know,” he was sitting closer so it was easy to cup the others face.

He disguised the touch by tilting Shen Qingqiu’s face side to side as he observed.

The other still looked at Binghe as if he had the answers.

 It was intoxicating.

 “What is your name?”

“Shen Yuan.”

Interesting…they have similair last names.

“This is such a bizzare after life…” he was wringing his fingers and so on a whim, Luo Binghe created a fan and passed it to Shen Yuan.

The other blinked before smiling, “Thanks.” The other spoke then looked away and wringing the fan inbetween his hands.

“How so?”

“Well I was just reading your story before I died, Proud immortal Demon way then here I am and I look like the Villain…” He looked so lost and Luo Binghe wondered if there was anyway to stay asleep and pick this person apart.

Before Luo Binghe could ask more questions or even decide on what to do with such a small thing.

Maybe it’s not too dissimilar to Meng Mo, he wouldn’t mind sharing Shen Yuan in his space and helping him get stronger.

Until the other flinched eyes locked onto a certain point, it instantly raised the hackles on Luo Binghe-

Where was the threat?

But he couldn’t see it, Shen Yuan spoke, sounding panicked-

“What- I transmigrated- this is real !?” The other gasped looking panicked.

Luo Binghe could… feel something, if he concentrated and could feel a distant static sound like a buzzing from very far away.

“What!? Why do I have to be the scum villain!? I’ll die! No I refuse to have my limbs ripped off-“

Luo Binghe could feel the static get stronger, and Shen Yuan become more frantic before the other tensed.

 “I could change it?”

What?

The other gazed up at this threat with cautious hope.

“I could give Luo Binghe a happy ending?”

A happy ending- what was his end before?

Suddenly, Luo Binghe watched as Shen Yuan looked at him eyes wide, he looked scared for the first time they met and and Luo Binghe moved forward just as the other reached back-

Shen Yuan’s form snapped and vanished before his very eyes.

Luo Binghe woke up with a start, almost startling his wife who lay beside to him. Luo Binghe sat up, rubbing his hand across his face. What a strange dream- he must be losing his mind…

Shen Yuan was fuming, before he left that strange waiting room space or whatever it was-

The system told him there was a glitch and they couldn’t load him properly yet and so it was time to begin Luo Binghes story!

Hopefully he had time to fix everything and be kind to this sweet bun-

Wait he had an OOC lock and couldn’t act differently, and worse Luo Binghe was already abused.

That was it!

So no one could fault him when he fainted.

Chapter 2: What a fascinating creature

Summary:

Luo Binghe can see into this other Shizuns dreams, and thinks he could make this man do ANYTHING in his Shizuns skin, he ends up spiraling and tries to keep the two seperate, the soul may have his scumbag shizuns face but he wears it so much differently.
The Binghe who was abused and hurt and always wanted some affection from this man felt starved and greedily took any moment with this soul that he could.

Notes:

Binghe: I’m going to make this creature do a lot of gross things as Shen qingqiu 😈
Binghe later: *blubbering to Shen yuan* I don’t know what I did wrong why did he hate me! 😭

Chapter Text

It happened the same night…

Luo Binghe found himself back at Qing Jing Peak. Usually he never has such dreams, when he was bored he would entertain others' dreams or go back to happy memories of what little he had.

But Qing Jing Peak was here before his eyes, and he saw the green robes before he saw him.

He approached the soul, still weak. But it smiled again as it saw him.

 “Binghe!”

It was strange the locations they found each other were secret places he and Ning Yingying came back to in their disciple days…

The man approached him, anybody else would call it graceful, but on his Shizun it was clumsy and full of excitement.

“Binghe- you can’t believe what happened!”

Luo Binghe found himself smiling, and encouraging it was no different than an excitable wife as both walked side by side at the bamboo grove.

Shen Qingqiu was…animated, he spoke with his hands and aired out his frustrations of the system and raising a younger version of himself.

Luo Binghe realised that he was accidentally witnessed to a different variant of his Shizun. One who had foreknowledge and was kind.

And another younger Luo Binghe would have that given to him.

At least Shen Qingqiu answered what that strange creature was the previous night.

A system.

But Shen Qingqiu sounded distressed, “I’m at a point where you’re a disciple. I’m so screwed- if I don’t treat this Binghe right then I’ll end up like Shen Qingqiu with my limbs ripped off along with my tongue and eyes…” He spoke, stressing the cloth on the fan. If he wasn’t careful he'd break it.

Luo Binghe felt sorry for the small soul.

“Why can’t you just do what you want?”

Shen Qingqiu sighed “I can’t disobey the system. If Shen Qingqiu was suddenly nice to Luo Binghe I would be punished. I would be killed again . I managed to give him medicine…if I get enough points I can break the OOC protocol and do what I want.”

Luo Binghe had no idea what he was talking about, but this was the most entertaining thing he’s ever had since his Shizun died.

Except for the part where he had to listen to Shen Yuan lament and coo at his younger self and how he realised how cool he was, being so humble and a good character, how he took the abuse as training and never took it to heart. How he wished he could just stop the abuse and treat Binghe well.

The way he spoke of his younger self had this Luo Binghe growing envious.

“What will you do, once you’re free?”

Luo Binghe asked to distract himself from his turmoilous thoughts…

Shen Yuan crossed his arms and nodded in a matter of fact way. “Hug, Luo Binghes golden thighs.”

Luo Binghe almost tripped and fell head first into a bamboo stalk.

“Binghe!? Are you alright?” he felt the other's hands on his arms and adjusted him.

The demon Lord brushed him off, how mortifying. He cleared his throat trying to change the subject.

Who would think his little Soul was so bold!

“So you’re only being nice to him from self-preservation?” Luo Binghe wished he could hate him…but he understood that this creature was forced to look like his Shizun and had the knowledge of his gruesome end.

He couldn’t judge someone who wanted to survive…but he had admit it was still cowardly, and a bit unattractive.

The other looked away tapping his fan to his lips, and Luo Binghe found himself transfixed, almost missing what the other would say next.

“Almost, but…I read your story, and I can’t help but want to spoil him. Luo Binghe’s life was so heartbreakingly sad. He deserves at least some form of happiness. He’s such a hard worker too- and so strong even while using a fake manual! Luo Binghe is impressive.”

The Demon lord walking beside him smirked, of course he was.

“Even when others tried to drag him down and were jealous Binghe would end up proving them wrong. So many people were in support and even loved seeing you grow up strong. So many were rooting for you.”

It was strange that others would read his life, but knowing Shen Yuan who hated the story, only read it for him . Was with him every step of the way.

“Once this protocol is gone, I’m going to treat Luo Binghe as he deserves. I’m going to be a kind Shizun and help him grow stronger. He’s so hard working I doubt I’d even have to try hard.”

His Shizun was so informal as well, but the growing anger of envy began to surface.

“It’s not fair.”

Shen Yuan paused to see the dark stormy cloud over his face, Shen Yuan tensed, almost terrified and that made Binghe even more irritated.

For once he didn’t want this one to fear him.

Then saw the other give a soft huff and reached to pat his head .

“Oh, Binghe. You know I’m treating him like this because of you . That everything I do for him is what I wish I could do for you. Your story is the reason I want to change things, make it better. Give you a more happier fulfilling ending.”

Luo Binghe never cried, not once since his vow to never shed a tear when his Shizun poured tea on his head.

Not even when Shizun tossed him into the Abyss. And yet his eyes burned.

“But it’s not fair , this one deserves a kind Shizun.” He looked away and felt the other cling to his sleeve.

“Binghe, without you- without the story of Proud Immortal Demon way, I wouldn’t be here. If you had the kind Shizun there would be another version of you out there who didn’t have one. It’s a paradox.”

There again with those strange terms.

“Without you, I wouldn’t be here. Without the knowledge of your story and wanting to change it- you know time travel?”

Luo Binghe knew the concept, it was another type of fiction.

“If a son went back in time and killed his father, then the son would not exist. BUT if he did not exist how would he go back in time to kill his father.”

Luo Binghe blinked. That was…interesting.

“The roles could just as easily be reversed. You could be my Binghe. And he could be you here. Having this conversation.”

Luo Binghe knew what the other was trying to say, it was still unfair though…

“And if you were transported back in time as a disciple, and all of a sudden I acted differently, treated you better and was more kind, then you found out it was because I KNEW of Shen Qingqiu’s demise? Wouldn’t you not trust it? Assume that the kindness was a lie? That Shen Qingqiu never truly cared but wanted to save his own skin.”

Luo Binghe clenched his fists…he had to admit, he wouldn’t be pleased and would hurt his Shizun even more for it…

The silence was stifling, and he felt the other slowly reach out then tossled his hair. Luo Binghe kept still, still unsure on how to take this gesture, something even his wife didn't do.

“But I’m also here, so I can also spoil this Luo Binghe too. Even if he’s just a dream.”

…A dream?

Shen Qingqiu said to himself, “I wonder if I made you up to give into impulses that I’m holding back from Binghe. You’re such a good kid, it’s hard not to touch your hair. It’s so fluffy.”

Shen Qingqiu hated his hair. It was untamable.

They exited the Bamboo grove and moved back to the training ground that was empty.

“There is something else…” Shen qingqiu spoke fiddling with his fan again, Luo Binghe raised an eyebrow “Hmm?”

“I found your jade Amulet.”

Luo Binghe inhaled sharply, then cursed himself for reacting. He thought he buried those feelings years ago.

“This one searched hours to find it.” To come up empty handed. Shen Qingqiu nodded “It was high up in a tree, because of the colour it blended in with the scenery.”

Luo Binghe clenched his fists, he burned Cang Qiong down- he doubted it was still there but…he could try.

“Did you give it back to him.”

Shen Yuan shook his head “It’s a really valuable item, it has a lot of points. If something happens I could use it to save myself if Luo Binghe decides to kill me.”

On second thought- he understood why this person became his scum teacher.

“That amulet was this ones mothers- it’s the last thing this one has to remember her.” He growled almost close to losing it. Shen Yuan nodded.

“I know, but Binghe isn’t strong enough to protect it, he lost it to Ming Fan. And if some events transpire, Binghe has to take them on. Like the Endless abyss he could lose it…”

Luo Binghe scowled, he had a point.

“The Abyss? You plan on throwing him down? Isn’t that worse being kind one moment then acting like a scum villain to save your own skin?” He snorted in derision and saw the steel in Shen Yuans eyes. He almost believed him to be Shen Qingqiu.

“I want to live.” He spoke in a small voice, “Luo Binghe will survive it and grow stronger. He’ll have a harem, and a family. But I could be torn limb from limb…I don’t want to die…”

Luo Binghe faltered, then sighed. He tugged Shen Yuan close and held him, tucking his chin on top of his head. As his hand stroked the others back.

His anger evaporated instantly.

 It’s not him.

This was not his Shizun, but a weak soul trying its best to live. Luo Binghe berated himself. His hand soothing the others back, Shen Qingqiu was tense before slowly relaxing in the hold.

“You’re not going to die.” he spoke, he won’t allow it.

He forgot how weak others were and what they had to do to survive. He knew how monstrous he was, he payed back kindness and cruelty ten fold.

“Come on, you want to break that OOC thing right?”

Shen Yuan nodded, leaning back his hands no longer shaking. But also unsure about the change in topic.

“You act nothing like Shen Qingqiu. I don’t know how no one expelled you for possession yet.”

Shen Yuan gave a huff as Luo Binghe took him to the training ground and apparated a faceless disciple, both went through the lessons he went through in the peak.

“Now, what would you do?”

When the disciples made a mistake, Shen Yuan would sigh but would then tell them what they did wrong…with a freakin smile on his face.

To anyone who didn’t know Shen Qingqiu this would look cruel, but to Luo Binghe he knew everything about his Shizun. All the way down to the microexpressions, tics and movements.

“No- no, use the fan like this.” Luo Binghe directed and slowly he saw Shen Yuan acting more and more like Shen Qingqiu.

Luo Binghe almost paused to see it in motion, the spark of hate igniting. He looked away. “you’re getting the hang of it.”

Then the spell broke as Shen Yuan beamed and fist pumped, “Yes!” He was going to get over that OOC function as quick as he could!

He then bowed to Luo Binghe, tensed unsure on why this man was bowing to him of all people.

“This Master thanks Lord Luo Binghe for his guidance.”

Luo Binghe was unsure on how to feel about this, secretly he loved it, his face splitting into a grin. Oh, he could make Shen Yuan do anything in this body.

Finding his thoughts running away with themselves he cleared his throat.

“This one is happy to help his Shizun.”

Notes:

Luo Binghe shivering, and even Xin Mo purring with the thought of making this creature wearing his Shizuns face to do anything he wanted.
Shen Yuan bowing to Binghe and calling him his lord.

Binghe fifty shades of uncomfortable: NEVER do that again.

Chapter 3: Getting to know you.

Summary:

Chapter Text

Months had passed.

And Luo Binghe was beginning to find himself too excited to go to sleep, he found himself enjoying his time with Shen Yuan.

Although the other told him never to use that name, in case he fails to respond to Shen Qingqiu and ends up found out.

So Binghe only referred to him like that in his head.

But Shen Yuan made changes in his world, his hairstyle was not as severe and softer than Shen Qingqius, how he requested Luo Binghe to remove the wood shed from Qing Jing peak.

Luo Binghe could change some things, but he dare not go to far in case he broke the connection.

Shen Yuans soul was becoming stronger but the connection between their dreams was a bit fragile.

Shen Yuan was able to make changes himself, the surprise on his face as he was able to show the Demon Lords his Binghes side room.

Luo Binghe hoped that was true, it did give Luo Binghe the courage to ask if Luo Binghe included Huan Hua Palace into the dreamscape, he couldn’t introduce it to the dream but he could add to it.

Almost like anchoring a boat to the harbour, at least that way if something were to go wrong only the palace would be affected and not harm Shen Yuan's dreams.

When he asked if they should try it, Shen Yuan's eyes sparkled like starlight. Even using his fan to hide his reaction, Luo Binghe could tell he was excited.

“Is that a yes?”

“Yes, please! Oh if thats okay?” Shen Yuan dimmed, almost forgetting he was talking to the Luo Binghe even for a dream counterpart it was rude to order him around like that.

Luo Binghe hummed, raising an arm and wrapping it around Shen Yuans shoulders as he turned him towards the door of the Bamboo house.

How could Binghe not not indulge him?

It wasn’t too hard, Luo Binghe knew Huan Hua like the back of his hand, it was his second home.

…A small part wondered if he should show the small house near the Luo River- then immediately thought second of it.

He smiled, guiding Shen Yuan to the door, “After you, Shizun.”

As the Door opened they found themselves outside the gates of Huan Hua. A bridge between the palace and Qing Jing Peak, green bleeding into yellow.

Shen Yuan appeared calm and poised trying so hard to remain that poser act, and he would have succeeded too, if his head didn’t keep turning to take in the details of the bridge between worlds that Binghe had just made.

That was just the bridge, never mind the Palace.

Of course as Shen Yuan stopped to look up at the palace did he gape [in his own way, the way his eyes widened a fraction was enough to tell Binghe]

The palace was beautiful and large, it was ostentatious and seemed to be worthy of Luo Binghe.

As they neared the gates they were opened up to an open hallway, the floor was marble and reflected their images and Shen Yuan was only dazzled as it was Luo Binghes ability that did so.

It was one thing for Huan Hua to be spectacular, it was another for Luo Binghe to convey such a thing in his dreams so effortlessly.

Even if this figment of Luo Binghe wasn’t real, it was still impressive.

Shen Yuans eyes were awe filled, he even looked in excitement at the tapestries, the fine workmanship of each detail, the jade statues, and other artefacts.

Shen Yuan practically skipped to each one.

Putting Po from Kung fu panda to shame.

Shen Yuan was in awe, even more for the function they seemed to have, “You used that chalice to save Liu Mingyan! Oh how delightful for you to have it here to convey the love you have for one of your wives!”

It was just a cup, and yet Shen Yuan found it beautiful, and maybe thought holding tokens such as this was romantic…Binghe would have to remember that.

Luo Binghe took his arm which Shen Yuan wrapped his own around as he escorted him around his palace, gearing towards things Shen Yuan seemed to find interest in. Luo Binghe didn’t think much of it, but Shen Yuan seemed to like most of this junk…

Only because that was the things Luo Binghe earned, how Shen Yuan remembered and even commented on the trials Luo Binghe went through.

“You were so brave, and doing all that for the one you love, that was so admirable.” Luo Binghe smiled, “It was nothing.”

It truly wasn’t, he only did it because he could. If anything Luo Binghe found himself more excited for the journey to achieve the cure, or defeat the monster than marrying his next wife.

They soon found themselves down a familiar corridor amongst the popular rooms of PIDW, the courtrooms, the gardens, the kitchens, here Luo Binghe wondered if it was possible to taste food in dreams…then Luo Binghes room itself.

He was watching Shen Yuans reaction, and noticed the other raise his fan higher to hide his face.

Here Shen Yuan flushed using his fan to hide his face, Luo Binghe almost wanted to pull Shen Yuan to his bed and ask him if he wanted to re-enact any of his favourite scenes from his favourite novel. Play the part of the wife and calling Binghe his husband…

Luo Binghe almost did before holding himself back.

Shen Yuan was shy, no need to scare him away, but thoughts of the bedroom were distracting.

“Can we see the dungeons?” Shen Yuan asked, with an awkward smile.

And just like that, Luo Binghes own amused smile stiffened on his face.

Seeing someone like Shen Qingqiu in the dungeon- with the passing of his Shizun in his world…

“Not today,” Luo Binghe spoke, “Shizun seems tired.”

As they moved back to the courtroom, the long tables as well as the ostentatious throne.

Shen Yuan gazed  at the throne and seemed to fidget, Luo Binghe raised his own hand to hide his smile.

“You can sit on the seat, if you like?”

Shen Yuan flushed at having been caught, “It- it wouldn’t do for someone who is not the Emperor to sit here.” He spoke, diplomatically.

Luo Binghe hummed, unless it was the Emperor's lover.

“Overall its amazing.” Shen Yuan changed the subject as he glanced around.

Overall?

“There are some parts that seem like the old Palace masters hand at decor,” His nose wrinkled at the feng shui in the courtroom and the paintings on the walls.

Shen Yuan used his fan to gesture, “How tacky, this is just a way to flaunt ones wealth but it’s not even visually appealing to look at nor does it match anything in the room, we get it gold means your rich but its as blunt as a brick. It screams insecurity.”

Shen Yuan spoke, missing Luo Binghes eyebrow twitch and closing his eyes as he breathed in slowly.

“Once the light hits those golden frames, most people will be glazed by the reflection of the sun, making it difficult to concentrate. Not to mention the sun will bleach the paintings and ruin them before long making it that you’d have to replace them again,”

Is that why his staff complained of having migraines, and why he had to get rid of that portrait of his when it began to wash out?

Shen Yuan kept roasting Luo Binghes possessions, “At least the things you earned proved that you fought for them by strength, but also to highlight how effortlessly he did to achieve something those lesser could only dream off.”

Ah, what a demonic way of courtship. Shen Yuan valued strength and trials of commitment more than wealth. It appears he didn’t care that Luo Binghe had wealth but only that he wasn’t using it properly.

Luo Binghe held his tongue that everything the old palace master had was removed or burned leaving no trace, the tacky furniture and paintings that Shen Yuan was critiquing?

 Was all Binghe.

He had to admit his Shizun wasn’t wrong, Luo Binghe was foolish and young in his early years as an emperor, and well he didn’t really care about this sort of stuff before.

But Shen Yuan spoke about how it was a reflection of him. That being knowledgeable in the arts as well as having a sense of style adds to a person's character.

If Luo Binghe were to commission anything it would be of much better quality and taste.

And so the tour ended, as Shen Yuan walked back to the gardens, seeming more excited for the flowers.

He seemed to know so many things about the flora, and it put Luo Binghe at ease. At least now he’ll know if anything happened, Shen Yuan will be prepared, or not be involved in any unfortunate sex pollen tropes. As his Shizun so fondly called them.

And so the tour ended, Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe stood atop the bridge looking down at the koi fish, Shen Yuan seemed to like the gardens well enough…

 “So is Luo Binghe happy?”

  “Hmm?”

Shen Yuan elaborated, as he gestured at the palace. “The home you carved for yourself? All those women who adore you, Luo Binghe is satisfied now, right?”

Shen Yuan smiled at him, and Luo Binghe paused, happy?

After everything he had done, all those people he had saved and killed…happy?

The Luo river, the drafty house and a sick women…that was the only kind of happy he had and in all that time has he felt that way since?

…Even the death of his Shizun did nothing to bring that satisfaction. He would kill him a thousand times but after he felt…nothing.

The palace walls began to crumble.

“Binghe?” Shen Yuan spoke worriedly, noticing the palace falling apart-

“Happy?”

The gold faded and became tarnished and rusted, the structures began to collapse as Luo Binghe lost control.

“This one cannot recall a single time he was happy…”

Shen Yuan tried to move closer, and Binghe panicked seeing Shen Qingqiu instead-

Luo Binghe threw his hand out in desperation as he removed Shen Yuan from the dreamscape- before he did something he would regret.

Xin mo exasperated his Qi deviation as the storm swirled around him as the palace was destroyed and sucked up into a whirlwind.

Qing Jing Peak remained untouched and continued to stand, with Shen Yuan alone watching Huan Hua crumble and blink out of existence. He woke up from the dream in a sweat, panting.

His binghe woke up looking worried “Shizun!”

“It’s alright Binghe, just a night terror, sorry this Master woke you.”

“It’s okay, Shizun. Perhaps this disciple could you make you some tea?”

“That would be nice, if it wouldn’t trouble Binghe.”

The other shook his head and ran off, Shen Yuans smile faded as he placed a hand to his face.

He hoped Luo Binghe was alright…

Luo Binghe thought he lost Shen Yuan forever. To think such a simple question could break his control and let Xin Mo take advantage of him. So when he saw Shen Yuan again he felt pure relief enough to almost make him collapse, Shen Yuan was safe…

The other saw him and immediately brightened up as he ran towards him, “Binghe! Are you alright!?”

Shen Yuan touched his arm, his eyes checking him over and Luo Binghe felt his own worries. Shen Yuan was touching him, bringing Binghe more comfort than himself, relieved that Shen Yuan wasn’t afraid of him.

“This Lord is fine, Shizun. Thank you for your concern.” He spoke his voice laced with warmth. Shen Yuan pressed his lips together then took Luo Binghes hand and led him towards an open hall in QIng Jing Peak.

Luo Binghe didn’t recognise it, but it was beautiful.

Shen Yuan sat before a qin after making sure Luo Binghe was comfortable in his seat, then began to play for him.

Luo Binghe smiled indulgently, feeling touched that Shen Yuan would care to try to cleanse his spiritual energy even in a dream.

And yet, even though it shouldn’t be possible as the qin strings were plucked as Shen Yuan began to play for him, Luo Bighe found his mind calming.

Shen Yuan was more impressive than he realised, feeling so much better, he gazed at his once despicable Shizun and found it impossible to dredge up the anger or resentment he once felt.

He felt calm and at peace.

…it was strange, and for once he couldn’t recall the last time he had ever felt this… safe .

Even awake, he was on edge, pleasing a wife, having sex even when he didn’t feel the need, slaying monsters, avoiding assassination attempts from both enemies and his wives even having to appear strong for Mobei-Jun the closest he has to a male friend who never seeks to harm him, unless he appeared weak.

Shen Yuan glanced over and saw Luo Binghe shaking, eyes slowly looking more red- not demonic red, but red before tears fell.

 “Binghe- what's the matter?”

Was his playing that bad that it brought the protagonist to tears even when he vowed never to cry ever again?

Luo BInghe clenched his hands “It’s foolish, to think that Lord has everything, achieved so much and its nothing. That in all those years of fighting has never known peace until now, this lord had almost forgotten what it was like.”

Shen Yuan slowed his playing down to a stop, he was utterly useless with feelings, but this was something he couldn’t brush off.

Shen Yuan stood up and sat before Luo Binghe and placed a hand on the other's shoulder, when Binghe didn’t shake him off did he speak.

“Binghe, it’s not your fault. You were failed by so many Masters and those who claimed to be righteous, it’s normal to feel this way.”

“...Shen Yuan, what did I do wrong?”

“What?”

Luo Binghe looked lost as he finally looked Shen Yuan in the eye, and the other had no idea what the right thing to say was…

It made Shen Yuan uncomfortable, Luo Binghe was never described this way. It was always a trick to bed a potential wife.

There were no wives here- Binghe was being genuine!

 Luo Binghe felt this way.

“After all,” Binghe spoke, looking up at Shen Yuan.

“You read my life, surely it should’ve explained why Shen Qingqiu hated me.”

Shen Yuan remained quiet, truthfully? Even PIDW never clarified what Shen Qingqiu’s deal was.

“...This one wonders what he did wrong…why was this disciple not good enough…?”

Shen Yuan's eyes widened, looking alarmed he leaned forward with urgency, and grabbed Luo Binghes arm.

“Binghe. You did nothing wrong. You didn’t deserve any of those punishments, Shen Qingqiu hurt you because he was resentful and a jealous man. He hated you because he knew how strong you could become because you had potential, and you grew up powerful in spite of being a cruel man. One who tried to kill you three times doesn’t deserve the time of day. You should let him go, if you let him get to you even when he’s not here you’re giving him the satisfaction. You are better than him.”

Luo Binghe felt his chest tighten, to hear the echo of the man responsible, say this. He shut his eyes, tears falling down his cheeks, he knew he never got closure, not really. But this was something close to it and he’ll have to settle for that.

 “I can’t let him go.”

“It's not healthy to keep trying to- to meet the expectations of someone who never cared- it’s not fair on you. You don’t have to forgive him, that's not what I’m asking, what he’s done is unforgivable, but you have to move on. You have a life, there's no need to be held down by a ghost.”

Luo Binghe turned to look at Shen Yuan and couldn’t help but think, if he truly renounced his Shizun and tried to move on?

…Then what about Shen Yuan?

He noticed as times wore on, Shen Yuans soul became stronger. Almost as if the soul was barely holding on was now being accepted into their world. If Luo Binghe killed  him in that one moment…he doubted the soul would’ve survived.

 “Binghe? Can I hold you?”

“You can do whatever you like,”

“But it’s not about me, what do you want?”

Luo Binghe raised his arms and Shen Yuan hugged him, letting Luo Binghe hold him close. Luo Binghe hid his face in the crook of his neck and Shen Yuan let him cry, even in a dream he could feel wet tears on his neck.

He found himself sitting near the lake with Shen Yuan doing his hair, Shen Yuan was surprisingly good at it. He even felt envious of his younger self who had the attention of this kind Shizun…Luo Binghe was happy to have this- a Shizun who gave him kindness, but maybe this was just as cruel.

To show Luo Binghe what he would've had in comparison.

You would think revisiting Qing Jing Peak and witnessing the seasonal changes as the years went by would drive Luo Binghe insane, time worked differently here, Shen Yuan's time was faster than Binghes.

Shen Yuan even with his own flare and style still acted like his Shizun. But he didn’t want Shen Yuan to be like his old Shizun; he wanted the soul to be himself. How much the soul hid away behind that facade.

Shen Yuan had to act the part of a scum Shizun and clearly failed at it.

Alas here in his dreams, Luo Binghe became greedy, holding each reaction and discussion and comparing the differences.

It kept him grounded and confirmed any doubts that this was just his Shizun reincarnated.

For one, Shen Yuan didn’t know about the fan language, Luo Binghe was worried he would accidentally gather suitors back in his world. Especially when he fluttered the damn thing willy nilly.

He just wanted to look dramatic or aloof, both either walked around the bamboo groove, others around the peak or the lake.

Shen Yuan asked if he wanted tea once, and Luo Binghe smiled wanting to indulge him after all Shen Yuan indulged all of Luo Binghes selfishness previously.

“This is only a dream, Shizun. We have no need for tea.”

Shen Yuan looked unruffled, “It’s only polite.” He sniffed, ah he was pouting. How cute.

“Of course, Shizun. Let this disciple serve you, it’s only proper.” Now it looked like Shen Yuan was slapped in cold tea with how horror stricken he looked.

“No!”

Luo Binghe blinked, what was with that reaction?

“You’re a demon emperor! You can’t serve me tea! What’s proper is the other way around.”

Luo Binghe felt his lips pull into an amused smirk, it almost looked like his Shizun wanted to beat him with his fan.

“Oh? As the emperor I can whatever I like,” Shen Yuan seemed to relax at the cocky response.

 “Very well, my lord.”

Luo Binghe hated that, for some reason he didn’t want that title coming from his Shizuns mouth, it created distance.

Luo Binghe raised his arm and it became the norm for Shen Yuan to wrap his arm around his as he escorted him. Shen Yuan didn’t seem to mind that he was being led around like a wife.

Luo Binghe was beginning to have thoughts of kidnapping Shen Yuan, he now dubbed those as Xin Mo’s dumbfuck ideas that he refused to indulge in.

Although it would be wonderful, take him from the unworthy Binghe and keep him here, in his harem where he would continue to be in awe of the real Luo Binghe.

Because as he said, Shen Yuan fell in love with him first not that other lesser version of him. It was his story Shen Qingqiu obsessed over. Who wouldn’t be flattered?

As he served his Shizun tea, those thoughts scattered.

Being in the bamboo house, seeing the face of Shen Qingqiu watching him.

Waiting for him to make a mistake- watching him with those eyes, and this time it wasn’t Xin mo. No- this was all Binghes weakness.

The cups shattered in his hands, and Shen Yuan flinched, eyes wide in alarm.

“Binghe are you alright!?” Shen Yuan gasped, clutching the other's hands, seeing the other hold him tenderly, shattering the illusion of the lofty immortal.

“It’s just a dream, Shizun. It can’t hurt me.”

“Bullshit! If you hurt yourself in your dream, its the same as harming you in real life!” He snapped, still cupping his hands that were clean from blood or tea. It was almost silly.

Luo Binghe couldn’t help it, he laughed.

Shen Yuan stared at him as he watched Luo Binghes manic strained laughter grew louder as he covered his face with one hand.

 “You’re nothing like him.”

Shen Yuan brow furrowed before realisation coloured his expression.

“Oh, Binghe.” he spoke softly and moved closer gathering Binghe into his arms, and Luo Binghe eyes widened as the other stroked his back.

 “Shizun won’t hurt you anymore.”

Luo Binghe’s eyes burned as he bit his lip.

 “I’m sorry Binghe I shouldn’t have-”

“This Master.”

“Oh, hmm?”

Shen Yuan leaned back and saw Luo Binghe look up at him with a boyish tilt of his lips.

“Not ‘I’ this Master. Wouldn’t want you to forget and be accused of possession.”

Shen Yuan did not acknowledge the subject change, actually felt relieved for the subject change.

“This lord enjoys our company and wouldn’t want anything to happen to Shizun due to tenses.” Shen Yuan flushed as Luo Binghe looked at him.

He used his fan to hide his face as he cleared his throat “Well, likewise.” Luo Binghe was so intense. Currently he was fine as his sweet bun back at home, just plain adorable.

But older Binghe really felt as if he was looking through him.

“Ah you can control dreams,” he spoke shutting his fan, “Why not change locations? If Qing Jing Peak isn’t preferable?”

“When this Lord attached Huan Hua it was attached to me and Xin Mo, it became unstable. Qing Jing Peak is strong, if this Lord tried to change anything I could lose this connection.” And possibly Shen Yuan.

“This Lord prefers meeting you here like this, this one cannot continue to be blinded by rage over a mountain.”

Shen Yuan sighed placing his fan down, “He hurt you, no one will fault you for that if this place brings back tragic memories- I mean exposure therapy could work but sometimes it could have the opposite effect.”

“With Shizun here, this lord will be fine.” Luo Binghe spoke, sounding so sure that And the most wonderful thing happened, Shen Yuan blushed. It seemed even he wasn’t immune to Luo Binghes charms.

The other cleared his throat hiding behind his fan as he opened it with a sharp snap, “But since I look like him-”

“You seem different. This Lord has encountered many people with similar faces with Shen Qingqiu’s and came to the realisation that just because someone is similar it does not make it him.”

Shen Yuan still looked lost.

“You are so drastically different,” Luo Binghe took his free hand and stroked his thumb over the smooth pale skin.

“I could pick you out in a room with a thousand Shizuns and I would know it was you.”

“Ah t-this master will take that as a compliment.”

Luo Binghe placed a hand on his cheek a smile on his lips, “Now it seems as if we’re at an impasse, you know everything about this Lord but I cannot say the same for Shizun.”

The man blinked then glanced away, “There’s nothing much to say…”

“Indulge me.”

Luo Binghe found himself soaking up everything about Shen Yuan his likes, his dislikes, even the things he didn’t seem to say.

And Luo Binghe found himself deeply invested.

Shen Yuan said he was a sibling of four, his two older brothers, Dage and Er-ge as well as his little Shiemi. His parents were wealthy and so Shen Yuan was in want of nothing he never had much expectations placed on him nor did he want to be ambitious, his older siblings took over the company and in turn Shen Yuan and his sister were spiled. But from what Luo Binghe gathered, Shen Yuan seemed to downplay his life and didn’t seem to care much about it.

Most would mourn their family, or even feel something about it. He just shrugged that he died and woke up here he was Shen Qingqiu now. His little soul was very strong. Or was trying to bury those feelings Luo Binghe was unsure.

He described his life as boring, he wasn’t a good or bad person, he was utterly useless and did nothing for himself or others, or so he claimed just an average pretty boy.

He went to university but never really followed up his degree or looked for anything himself. And so he poured all of his money into reading PIDW and invested so much of his time in Luo Binghes story.

It was surprisingly sweet.

Luo Binghe found himself enjoying these talks, he wanted to take Shen Yuan for himself, steal him away to his world and hold him in his hands. And yet Luo Binghe kept putting it off, he slept in longer, neglecting his wives and soon came to appreciate Qing Jing peaks beauty.

Luo Binghe walked the familiar pathways of Qing Jing Peak, the sunlight leaked through the bamboo and caressed his skin as the shade hid him from the rays of the sunlight.

He found himself smiling at the irony that now a place that was the birthplace of his suffering was now painted with warmth. The demon Lord Luo Binghe found himself too excited to go to sleep, he found himself enjoying his time with Shen Yuan.

And each time he fell asleep and found Qing Jing peak, he felt the familiar excitement, Shen Yuan was never in the same place, it was like a game of hide and seek.

 Except for that one time.

When Shen Yuan fell away from him in terror then tried to laugh it off, playing it down as if nothing happened.

He even flinched at Binghes touch, the demon Emporer begged Shen Yuan to tell him what was wrong, he never wanted Shen Yuan to be afraid of him. He promised he would never do anything to make Shen Yuan feel safe.

And Shen Yuan told him, telling him it was silly to be afraid.

But his counterpart had found Meng Mo and the dream demon sent Shen Qingqiu off in a dream. And Shen Yuan had nightmares of Luo Binghe as a Demon Lord calling him Shizun while his arms were ripped of and he was in that dungeon.

Luo Binghe raised a hand slowly, then hesitated. Shen Yuan was the one who huffed and grabbed his hand.

 “I’m fine.”

Luo Binghe pressed his lips together and looked away. “Binghe…?”

“I’m sorry.”

Luo Binghe never questioned his actions before, but facing the consequences to realise that maybe the way he treat others so callously, how Shen Yuan could still look at him.

Shen Qingqiu was scum and deserved it all, but what about the others? That grievances was not that serious?

And now Shen Yuan was afraid, he knew Luo Binghe intimately and as a character that was maybe admirable but in person of course he’d be afraid, it was his main fear.

“This Binghe will never harm Shizun. You have my word.”

The fear won't vanish over night. Even when Shen Yuan slumped in his arms, probably needing the hug more than Binghe did.

Luo Binghe’s gaze narrowed darkly, he’ll be better. He’s never had to change for a wife before, he was secure in who he was and when he escaped the abyss that was the man he became.

But now? A nightmare revealed that deep down Shen Yuan was afraid of what Luo Binghe would do to him because he happened to be in the body of his scum Shizun.

He knew being the typical demon who would take what he wanted wouldn’t be encouraged by someone like Shen Yuan, he would have to ask, or prove that the other was safe with him.

But also convey that Shen Yuan was his priority, he’s never been captivated by another person for this long before, and he wanted Shen Yuan to choose him not his weak counterpart.

He’ll do it, he’ll make Shen Yuan ask. Maybe even persuade him it’s his idea that Shen Yuan would want to escape that other Binghe and hide out in his world and seek refuge in Luo Binghs palace.

Luo Binghes smile widened, the connection between their worlds wasn’t strong enough yet, but with time Luo Binghe will be attuned and may even be able to use Xin Mo to travel to Shen Yuans world.

The other still thinks this is a dream so Luo Binghe will start slow…

Notes:

A/N:
Me: Bingge…you are kenough. [Speaking off rewatching the live action scooby doo movie fred is giving MAJOR ken energy lmao]
And yeah, the toxic masculinity Binghe has to deal with, and never came to terms of his own sexuality, and like that time he looked after the disciples of Huan hua is a people pleaser sure he’s learned to never be taken advantage of but with Huan hua thinks each kind act is just an excuse to take something unless he gets something back equel value thats enough. But the only thing I will say thats the diff between Binghes wives/Shen Yuan and why Binghe is never satisfied and feels as if he’s lacking.
Is that his wives love him or admire him and yet he can’t appreciate it because he doesn’t want it. Sure he could be loved but then it feels like an obligation. Shen Yuan only see’s Luo Binghe as this cool guy whose a friend. And doesn’t expect anything from him because he’s Binghe. Which is refreshing. But of course the whole no-homo thing ah well…

Also the reason I like the cartoon is that Shen Qingqius goofiness peaked out. But in the book it felt like the only time he was a goober was when he was being his plant body mushroom self.

Chapter Text

As months bleed into years, Luo Binghe watched his Shen Yuan grow more sombre and quiet.

He smiled at the presence of Luo Binghe, but when he thought the other wasn’t looking his smile would fade as he became lost in his thoughts.

Luo Binghe took his hand and began to lead him away from the bamboo and walked back to the same hall his Shizun played music for him.

 “Binghe?”

Luo Binghe smiled, “Please indulge this one's selfish whims,” Shen Yuan huffed and followed into the hall.

He moved a seat for Shen Yuan to sit and picked up an instrument, Shen Yuans eyes widened, “You play?”

Luo Binghe hummed, “This disciple practised until his fingers bled, my Shizun claimed it was an assault on his ears,” Luo Binghe beamed, “If this Lords playing is bad would Shizun please guide me?” Shen Yuan nodded, thanks to being Shen Qingqiu was able to play any instrument and instruct those younger.

No matter what, he’ll be polite and wouldn’t react badly if Luo Binghes playing was awful.

Either Luo Binghe was a liar, or that Shen Qingqiu was a real scumbag, Shen Yuan was frowned, actively glaring at Binghe and the other glanced up looking uncertain.

 “Is it that bad?”

“On the contrary, it’s perfect. Who said you couldn’t play?” Shen Yuan spoke feeling irritated, Luo Binghe played better than him! It wasn’t fair.

Luo Binghe laughed softly feeling himself relax, to be honest he truly thought he finally found something that pushed Shen Yuan to finally confront him about.

Shen Yuan never found Luo Binghe lacking, and Luo Binghe never wanted to disappoint him.

As Binghe kept playing, both enjoying each others company was when Shen Yuan finally wanted to speak.

“Binghe has gotten so much stronger,” Ah his weaker counterpart, Luo Binghe still felt envious of his other self, the one growing up to be a strong promising young man, much more different than him who grew up stunted from a cruel Shizun, That Binghe flourished.

Luo Binghe was envious that his other could wake up alongside his Shizun, could make him meals, to take care of Shen Yuan as they lived together like a married couple with Shen Yuan oblivious to it.

If Luo Binghe knew himself, even weaker versions of Luo Binghe would want Shen Yuan.

But no matter how much vinegar he drank, he was happy when Shen Yuan wanted to share the moments he had with the other Luo Binghe, how kindly he treat him. It was important to Shen Yuan and so it was important to him too.

“I’m sure Meng mo is treating him well,” Shen Yuan spoke wistfully then grew quiet again.

Was this the source of his distress?

Was Shen Yuan envious of Meng Mo? Binghe could relate, he opened his mouth then closed it. But Shen Yuan wasn’t acting like a Shizun whose Disciple had outgrown him.

Instead he acted even more withdrawn.

“Shen Yuan?” Luo Binghe asked as he moved over to sit beside his Shizun, legs almost brushing together.

Shen Yuan leaned into his side, and Luo Binghe held his waist making Shen Yuan lean into him more comfortably.

“Whats wrong, Shen Yuan?” the other sighed.

Shen Yuan thought, this demon lord was so touchy feely, maybe it was his subconscious that wanted contact the only people who hugged him were Ning Yingying or Luo Binghe and he- he was going to…

“I have to push Binghe into the abyss.” Shen Yuan spoke, words devoid of feeling.

Luo Binghe turned his head, the only sign of any distress of his Shizun was the tremble in his hands.

 Shen Yuan had gotten better.

And if he pushed that Binghe into the abyss? Would he not want revenge? Was everything Shen Yuan had done been a waste?

“If I don’t I’ll die…he’ll survive, he’ll be back in five years but what was the point? What was the point of saving Liu Qingge just to use him as a shield? Being kind to Binghe only to throw him in the Abyss?” His voice raised anger lacing his words, “Why? Why does it have to happen!?” Shen Yuan looked up to Binghe eyes beseeching.

“Should I not bother? Maybe if I refuse to do it then Binghe will be safe- I’ve already lived my life I’ve done everything I’ve already wanted to do-”

“No.” Luo Binghe pulled him close, panic clutching his chest, the last time he felt this way was when he saw how sick his mother was becoming and realised he would lose her forever.

Not again, even with his wives, when they were in peril he did everything he could to save them, the ones who were kind to him he always saved and Binghe has never lost a life since!

Shen Yuan will be no different!

“Don’t-j just let me think.” He held Shen Yuan close trying to think of some way to save Shen Yuan.

Or maybe spare him from doing it, but time worked differently here, if only Binghe didn’t procrastinate he would Shen Yuan would be here with him in his palace free from this burden!

Shen Yuan was still staring ahead, like a dead man walking, “I’ve been thinking on this for months, -I…there’s nothing I can do. I can’t remove Binghe from the conference, I can’t take him home or hide him either he has to go into the abyss…unless.” Shen Yuan leaned back into Binghes arms biting his lip.

Shen Yuan leaned back looking at Binghe.

“Can a human survive the abyss?” Luo Binghe frowned, not liking the sound of that.

Why was Shen Yuan asking that?

“No,” Luo Binghe spoke, becoming more worried, “No human can survive the abyss, the toxic fumes alone could kill a man, and a lack of spiritual energy no cultivator could practise inedia and you have to move forward all the time or be eaten.”

Shen Yuan nodded, “But if I was with Binghe- If I went into the abyss with him-”

“No.” Luo Binghe growled clutching him closer, his claws almost ripping the green robes, “You will die, a much more gruesome and pointless death so there's no need to waste it by jumping into the abyss when you know he’ll survive it. This one is proof that he’ll come back.”

Shen Yuan shut his eyes, “I know he’ll come back- I know you survived it but why!? Why did you have to go back into the abyss!?”

Shen Yuan yelled almost frustrated, Luo Binghe sighed.

“Once the seal was removed this one was a danger to everyone and others, the abyss made this one into a demon lord and-”

Luo Binghe paused, hold on.

“Shizun, could you ask Luo Binghe to go into the abyss?”

Would the system allow it?

 “What? No-no I couldn’t just ask him.”

“Would it be allowed or do you have to push him?” Luo Binghe asked, and watched how Shen Yuan looked unsure.

“I don’t know.”

Luo Binghe turned him around pulling Shen Yuan into his lap, “You have to ask Binghe to jump, tell him all the masters disciples were brutally murdered by demons, if they saw Binghe a heavenly demon they would kill him no questions asked. And all of Cang Qiong will suffer by being affiliated with demons.”
Shen Yuans eyes widened as Binghe shook him, Shen Yuan had to understand.

“Tell hi to find Xin Mo and that he can return in five years- if you make it look like you’re saving him and he won’t take his revenge.”

Shen Yuan looked unsure, looking up at Luo Binghe with scrutiny, “Are you sure this will work?”

“This Binghe promises.”

Although, with the hell that is the endless abyss, Binghe might question everything his Shizun taught him, it’s how he came to the conclusion that his Shizun was scum and tried to kill him.

And if he touched Xin mo it might warp and twist the very memories of his precious Shizun and persuade him he was Scum.

But like him, he hoped his counterpart was smart enough to not harm his Shizun…

The more Luo Binghe spent at Qing Jing Peak, the more he found that he didn’t want to leave, seasons came and went. Not consistent with his time but more to Shen Yuans.

It was Autumn, then chill winter and then…rain.

Rain was new, the mountain was bleak with fog hiding the bamboo. This was the first time Luo Binghe saw the heavens weeping over Qing Jing Peak.

He tried to find Shen Yuan, he wasn’t in his usual place, Shen Yuan tended to appear in different parts of the peak, at the pools, the bamboo, his home, the training ground, even now the Demon Lord passed the bamboo house and felt his breathing hasten.

Even now he was still plagued by those memories, he shook it off and scowled to think he still hadn’t yet go yet.

The rain soaked him to the bone, making his hair drip into his face.

He couldn’t even change it, but why was it raining?

As he climbed up the path and turned down the bamboo house he paused to see the man in green robes kneeling beside something.

The man was also soaked from the rain, paying it no mind.

Luo Binghe stared, eyes wide. Shen Yuan mentioned that he may lose Binghe to the abyss…and time passed differently here.

Luo Binghe took a hesitant step forward and saw the grave with his name on it.

Now he knew why Qing Jing Peak was like this, it matched the emotions of the soul gazing at the shrine, incense extinguished in the rain and Luo Binghe hesitated.

If the soul saw him, the very person he was mourning-

Maybe seeing him, seeing any type of Binghe may make Shen Yuan worse.

But Shen Yuan knew he was there. He let out a shaky exhale.

“He’s gone.”

Luo Binghe, had nothing to say. Waving his hand he disrupted the rain and walked over, the drops no longer hitting Shen Yuan and him like an invisible umbrella.

Luo Binghe sat beside Shen Yuan his knees tucked beneath him, both cushioned under the small barrier as the rain fell around them.

Seeing his old sword, he felt something buried begin to stir but ignored it.

“Do you want to talk about what happened?” Luo Binghe asked, and Shen Yuans eyes grew red, chest rising.

He shook his head and Luo Binghe leaned closer, their legs touching, he sat in silence with Shen Yuan both gazing at the grave, it was pretty morbid to see a grave with his name on it.

Luo Binghe ignored it.

“I’m here, Shizun. Take all the time you need.”

It was the wrong thing to say as Shen Yuan crumbled, a sob escaping his throat as he fell against Luo Binghe who caught him and drew him in as Shen Yuan breath hitched trying to hold his tears back.

Mourning his Binghe, mourning those easy disciple days, the last of those happy memories, now tained.

Shen Yuan finally spoke, the rain soothing and Luo Binghes hand on his shouler a warm comforting embrace.

“He’s going to kill me, after all that, being kind to him then throwing him away? I’m no different than the original goods, a scum villain.”

“You had no choice, can’t you explain?”

“I can’t talk about the system with anyone or I’ll be punished.” Luo Binghe scowled trying to concentrate. It was strange, he could sense it on Shen Yuan like a parasite no different than Meng Mo or other demons latching onto a host.

And it was more suspicious that this creature was being silent, allowing them to talk unless, like Shen Yuan,  thought this Binghe was a dream.

“I don’t know what to do…”

Luo Binghe glared at the sword mound then decided.

How could he ask Shen Yuan to come with him to his world?

How could Luo Binghe asked such a thing, after seeing the state of his Shizun, ripping him away from his home, his fellow peak lords who genuinely seemed to care for this Shizun unlike his scum teacher who pushed them away. Shen Yuan wouldn’t abandon them to that fate or a wrathful vengeful disciple.

If losing Binghe to an abyss that he was guaranteed to survive made his Shizun like this, how could he ask him to stay in his world?

Luo Binghe wanted to fix it-

Oh…yet the answer was so simple.

“I could handle it.” He spoke, face splitting into an excited grin. Shen Yuan looked up, confused by the tone, “What?”

 It was brilliant.

“What if I came to your world,” he was going about it the wrong way, he was connected to Shen Yuan. It would be difficult to bring him to the world of Proud Immortal Demon way, but quite different if it was Luo Binghe making the trip !

“Explain to your Binghe, that I’m his future and I wanted to change it, maybe take the blame of why he had to fall into the abyss.”

Better than Shen Yuan, the man sat up straight “What- I couldn’t ask that of you-”

“It’s fine, this Lord wouldn’t suggest it otherwise,” He extended his hand cupping Shen Yuans face, “And this Lord is far more experienced and stronger while your Binghe has only just learned his demonic powers. This Lord can protect you.”

Shen Yuan looked unsure then gave a hesitant smile, glancing back at the grave.

“It seems so simple.”

Maybe Shen Yuan didn’t believe he could do it, Luo Binghe laced his hand through the others, holding him tight.

“If I’m there, I can explain everything. I can even protect you.” Shen Yuan hummed, “I can’t ask you that,” Luo Binghes smile faltered, had Shen Yuan given up?

He spoke, pushing Luo Binghes hands away, and the other did not pout, “Why not?”

“You worked so hard for your palace, your harem. You’re the emporer. You earned that. If you came to my world- it’s Binghes birthright he needs that and I doubt the two of you will share.”

He had a point, he doubted either of them would share Shen Yuan when it came to it, they’ll probably fight to the death for his hand.

Lord Luo Binghe almost snarled his world was worthless, his harem used him- he could very well vanish and they probably wouldn’t even notice he was gone! They would rejoice, he was always looking over his shoulder just waiting for some demon or human cultivator trying to assassinate him.

And Luo Binghe he…he was tired.

He never realised that the last moment he felt true genuine love was from his own mother and he’s never known anything close to it since.
And the one time he felt peace was with Shen Yuan. He wanted to stay here, in this dream forever.

Shen Yuan gave him his time, his many faces, his praise and his vulnerability. And he asked for nothing back.

But Shen Yuan was alone, he was alone on his peak and no one knew why he was mourning for his disciple, and yet Binghe knew.

He understood all of his fears, his delights, Luo Binghe knew this Shen Qingqiu intimately even more than that counterpart of his! He could help, and the thought of abandoning everything and risking it all, to go to Shen Yuans world, to kneel at his feet to pledge himself to follow his Shizun and protect him from all harm.

Even if Shen Yuan wanted nothing in return, if he only saw Luo Binghe as a friend, so be it.

With Shen Yuan he felt whole, complete. As if that missing piece was found, and no matter what form, husband, friend or even his servant Luo Binghe would gladly take anything Shen Yuan had to give, Luo Binghe was greedy, he will take anything.

The thought of abandoning it all to go to Shen Yuans world, felt right.

Shen Yuan wasn’t like his wives or his subordinates, and yet he radiated warmth and kindness without trying. And Luo Binghe wanted that- he would trade his entire world for that.

“I don’t mind giving up my palace, my harem for you.” He spoke softly, his hand slipping back into Shen Yuans.

He always wanted to take this man - but not in his dream no, if he could meet him face to face actually touch his hand.

“Even giving up Xin Mo? I don’t think it’s a good idea to have both in the same world and Luo Binghe needs it right now.”

Luo Binghe scooped Shen Yuan into his lap, there was just something about him that made Luo Binghe want to hold him, even Shen Yuan went limp letting himself be manoeuvred.

Luo Binghe looked at the burial mound they sat at, how Shen Yuan was staring at it - was probably still staring at back in his world, alone.

“I survived the Endless Abyss without a sword. I don’t need one to be in your world.” It was true, Xin Mo needed him more than he needed it.

Shen Yuan laughed “You’re making me feel like one of your wives,” Luo Binghe tensed did Shen Yuan really-!?

“You can’t flirt with other girls in my world- not Ning Yingying or the others. That’s Binghes harem.”

Luo Binghe relaxed, oh. Instead he chuckled and couldn’t help but smile down at him cheekily, “But I am Binghe.” The other hit him with his fan.

A year ago, Luo Binghe would’ve snapped that fan in half, or done worse. From Shen Yuan he didn’t mind so much, he found he rather liked it.

Notes:

A/N: imagine Binghe as Howl from Howls moving castle, you know when he gets excited when he asks Sophie to see the king in his place, thats Binghe :D
So Binghe makes the plan to pack his bags and dip, Shen Yuan who thinks this Binghe is just some dream is going to FREAK the FUCK out when the actually OG PIDW Bingge suddenly knocks on his door aha!

Chapter 5: Your saviour has arrived!

Summary:

You know the Jumanji movie with Robin Williams?
When he's like "Its me Alan!"
Sara feints
"You killed her!"
yeah that.

Notes:

okay it’s not canon that Bingge is killed by his own children/wives I just thought that was tragic and angsty and would defiently make Shen Yuan so angry it would kill him after all that- that’s the ending Binghe gets!
So yeah there is a gap, a lack of Bingmei chapters and his chemistry with both Shen Yuan and Bingge.
The only thing I know is that Bingmei will be a complete brat who is utterly Shamless even Bingge raised by Shen Qingqiu and Shen Yuan both who withdraw and keep things close to their chest in fear of rejection will be flabbergasted at blunt Bingmei who’ll sing odes of his Shizun.
at first I was unsure HOW I was going to be Bingge/Bingmei but I kinda figured something out.
Now I'm thinking wait theres ton of Shencest stuff...but what about Luocest? Does that exist?

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The harem has never seen Luo Binghe this excited before, not even torturing Shen Qingqiu or acquiring a new wife. He ran around the palace barking orders, picking up items then throwing them away with a scowl, he was preparing for something…big.

 But Ning Yingying knew.

She knew her husband was leaving, he wasn’t cruel enough to leave them unprepared, he gave promotions to the deserving men, and kept his wives busy making sure that things could be maintained when he was gone. And this point in time, she didn’t know how to feel. The one she called a-lou had died long ago. A man wearing the face of her precious Shidi. And the corpse of Shen Qingqiu, her Shizun rotting in the dungeons, swallowing the shards of Xuan Su. Ning Yingying stood by, only confirming orders but staying quiet.

What right does she have to be upset? This crushing guilt, a palace full of people and voices and yet hers was ever silent. It was always silent.

And even now she stayed silent, hoping this creature wearing her Shidis face would quietly leave and abandon all of them in the mess he made. A ruined world, forced to live together as one, the heavens, the mortals and demons. His own personal hell and yet he wont even stay to appreciate the mess he has done?

Ning Yingying turned away, like he was contemplating doing. Like this broken world, she followed in his footsteps and washed her hands of it.

Luo Binghe even began to pay attention to his first son, alost remembering he existed!

The youngest Luo had wanted the throne and had a hunger for it, planning to rip his own fathers throat for the damn thing. And even he looked wrong footed as Luo Binghe all but told him he was retiring and it was up to his son to take over.

It had to be a trick.

But Luo Binghe was practically packed, wearing less regal clothes than his typical trademark, more black with red accents.

He stood concentrating with Xin Mo in hand. Gathering as much energy as he could and focusing on that connection with that soul. The youngest Luo grimaced covering his face and braced himself as the dark demonic qi pooled together to a certain point.

The younger Luo realised the man was truly leaving for good, and never realised how strong his father was. Of course being one third Heavenly demon his son had no chance. It was only now he truly saw the scope of how powerful his father was and knew the old man stepping down was the only reason he had a chance to take the throne-

No not take, it was given to him, not earned. He gritted his teeth at the humiliation of it.

As the portal ripped open, it looked strange, neither could describe it but any modern person would notice that the edges of the portal looked like screen pixels.

Luo Binghe turned and the youngest tensed wondering if he’ll strike him or remind him that it was Luo Binghe giving him this boon.

Instead Luo Binghe passed him his sword.

“Close the rift once I’m gone. You are the emperor now.”

The youngest blinked, watching how his father vanished through the portal, only carrying quicken pouches of what he considered important. Everything else he left behind.

The youngest Luo eyes narrowed, gritting his teeth, raising the sword and slashing down removing the portal and found himself alone, and frustrated.

To think he would leave, never truly caring, he was a selfish man who disregarded so many people and only toyed with their emotions for his own amusement.

He sneered at the portal, good riddance. They’ll be better off without him.

As Luo Binghe appeared in this new world he knew it was different. He could sense it. The same feeling of that entity, same as before but… larger. It felt as if it was wrapped around this entire world, so inconspicuous, Luo Binghe never would’ve noticed it if he wasn’t sure what he was looking for, it was lurking in the shadows. Watching.

The system could appear before him, but nothing happened.

Luo Binghe immediately got changed.

He changed his hair style, and used a tight black mask to cover his face.

So far his counterpart was younger no one would think it strange if this older man appeared from nowhere even so- He may be envious of his younger self that didn’t mean he hated him or wanted to make things difficult for him by announcing to the world that Luo Binghe was alive and well, before his time.

He had no idea what the others' plans were, he thought as he began to walk in an aimless direction. Guessing that the quicker he found a nearest town or village he could request for a rented sword if they had one. Or even find out where he was so he can make the journey to Cang Qiong mountain.

Seeing the worlds unmerged once more…Luo Binghe was afraid he was quite lost.

No matter, he was still excited at the possibility to finally see Shen Yuan, to hold him and speak to him outside their dreams!

And yet he felt different, lighter and not as…agitated as before. The thought of being delayed hasn’t made him upset, or irritated on the contrary, he found himself looking at the scenery actually taking in the sun, the trees and how high they were with luminous green leaves shining gold on the sun, even the sounds of birds singing. He found himself taking it all in.

Xin Mo felt like a dark blanket, hiding the world from him. He took a long breath in, no anxiety, anger…nothing.

When he passed over Xin Mo the connection snapped.

Almost as if the sword itself wanted a new host, and in doing so, he felt so much lighter and calmer than before.

As he found a local village, he was lucky enough that they sold rented swords! What were the odds that the first village he came upon seemed to have them?

He payed and decided to use the sword and after taking off into the sky did his face split into a boyish grin, making the journey back to Cang Qiong Mountain.

It truly was strange, in one lifetime he came to the mountain to see it to ashes, now with exhilaration to find his Shizun.

Then the thoughts of what his younger counterpart would do reappeared, if it was his typical revenge he would go to Huan hua and plan the demise of Shen Qingqiu.

But Shen Yuan changed things, by being kind. Even cast into the abyss would Luo Binghe return that cruelty ten-fold? The fact that he was here, in this world trying to save Shen Yuan from his younger counterpart showed that no.

Shen Qingqiu will not be harmed by the Luo Binghe of this world.

That didn’t mean he was safe, this Luo Binghe could do anything, maybe the love for his Shizun would become twisted?

Luo Binghes reason to escaping the abyss was his Shizun and his need for revenge, would this Binghe even manage?

…What if the younger one stayed in the abyss, what if he truly felt discarded and tried to end his own life by the betrayal of his Shizun?

Luo Binghe sighed, you’d think being the same person he would know of his plans.

And yet he was completely clueless.

The only thing he could rule out was that the revenge for Shen Qingqiu would not be the same.

It was all speculation, and even this Luo Binghe had no idea what the other was thinking or feeling and there was no way of knowing until the crossed that bridge.

The only thing he can do, is to be by Shen Yuans side, help him with the loss of his beloved disciple and prepare for the youngers arrival.

As he neared Cang Qiong Mountain he flexed his hand disabling the alarms, temporarily only enough for him to slip inside.

He landed sheathing his sword and made his way up on foot.

Wouldn’t want others to see him.

He could feel his excitement and glee grow, how would Shen Yuan react?

Would he be happy? Sad? He looked off in his dreams, sure cultivators didn’t need to sleep or eat but Shen Yuan seemed the type to need to, even if it wasn’t encouraged. Shen Yuan always looked happy when talking about his Binghe’s cooking.

Just like his marital prowess, Luo Bingge’s cooking would be superior to his counterparts, as he’s well travelled and was able to experience and experiment more with food and make even better dishes than before.

So as he neared the bamboo house, a small voice cautioning that maybe this was a bad idea-

He ignored it and knocked on the door.

“Ming fan? This Shizun already said no visitors!”

“What about old friends?”

Luo Binghe spoke, a smile curled into a self satisfied grin.

The door opened, and Shen Yuan looked-

He looked awful, Luo Binghe’s smile faded, he already pulled the mask down so the other would see his face, and his Shizuns mouth gaped in shock.

Dark bags under his eyes, skin pale and dry, hair a mess, lips chapped…

Shen Yuan downplayed how bad it truly was in his dreams only presenting a front.

“Shen Yuan?” He asked, raising a hand and Shen Yuans eyes tracked the movement if anything becoming more pale and sickly.

“What-“ Luo Binghe asked then flinched, when Shen Yuans eyes rolled back and fell backwards into a dead faint.

Luo Binghe yelped, grabbing his wrist and holding him from falling further, his other hand wrapped around Shen Qingqius waist, Luo Binghe checked his wrist then sighed in relief when it wasn’t a qi deviation.

He had to admit, he could’ve planned that better.

He picked up Shen Yuan then paused by how light he was.

Was he eating at all? And how long ago since he slept?

Luo Binghe shut the door with his back then moved forward.

Thanks to Shen Yuans dreams of the bamboo house Luo Binghe knew where everything was.

He passed the side room gathering dust and paused, it hadn’t been touched.

Luo Binghe continued on until he found Shen Yuans bed and placed him there, he removed his outer robes then pulled up the blanket to cover him.

He left to make tea for both of them, but he had a feeling that Shen Yuan may sleep in longer if he was prolonging sleep. There was papers everywhere and so Luo Binghe sat and began to order them, even copying the others hand writing as he helped finish of the last.

It appeared as if Shen Yuan didn’t have much to do…?

Other than this- you would think he would be buried in paper work or struggling with the loss of his disciple-

ah…Luo Binghe understood now.

He felt similar once at the loss of his mother, when she died he thought he would be still, and wallow. But instead he moved on, not thinking or feeling, almost floating above it all. He felt guilty that he should be more upset, that he wasn’t mourning her correctly unaware he was barely emoting at all and only focused on putting one foot in front of the other.

There was no right or wrong way to grieve, and Shen Yuan seemed to focus on running his peak and working himself to death.

One foot in front of the other.

Luo Binghe sat at the small table near Shen Yuans bed.

The table had small trays of food and sweets with a heating charm, if his Shizun woke up, if not he’ll remove the food for a disciple to have and prepare another bowl.

The other stirred and Luo Binghe stopped writing, placing the utensil down and looked up, his heartbeat stirring wildy almost terrified- before he was excited now he’s not too sure, he felt his mouth was dry and swallowed, bracing himselff.

Shen Yuan groaned, sitting up and covering his face with one hand.

He was so cute waking up, Luo Binghe placed one hand on his cheek waiting for the other to notice him. Trying to act aloof, hoping Shen Yuan bought the act.

Shen Yuan turned his eyes clocking Binghes and stiffened to see Luo Binghe looking up at him from the floor and smiled.

 “Good morning Shizun.”

Shen Yuan stared, mouth opening wide in a silent scream. Luo Binghe had already placed silencing talismans just in case.

“Would Shizun like something to eat? Tea?”

Luo Binghe asked as he made to pour.

 “This disciple can serve you.”

Shen Yuan moved closer not before taking Xiu Ya and unsheathing it.

 “Who are you?”

“Luo Binghe.”

Shen Yuans eye twitched, no shit!

Then he frowned looking at Luo Binghe’s face.

 “Bingge?”

It was a nickname he gave him to differentiate the two and Luo Binghe’s smile widened.

“Hmm!”

Shen Yuan fell to his knees, eyes wide in shock.

 “But you- how?”

Maybe he finally lost it, Shen Yuan thought, All those times waking up alone without his white lotus, how he called out Binghe’s name with no answer, how he couldn’t eat as everything tasted like ash in his mouth and now this apparition.

How he was such a mess even Ning Yingying yelled at him to get his shit together!

Ning Yingying of all people!

Shen Yuan laughed hysterically covering his face with his hand the other hugging Xiu Ya.

 “I’ve lost my mind! Aha!”

“Shen Yuan! Please, I’m real!” Luo Binghe pleaded, almost falling over the table to get closer to Shen Yuan, he never realised it was this bad!

Shen Yuan looked up at him and Luo Binghe’s face crumpled.

“Shen Yuan, you appeared before this Master in my dreams, and each night we spoke.” Shen Yuan's eyes widened.

All this time- all this time he was talking to the original Luo Binghe!?

“This Binghe promised he would help you fix this problem with you, if you let me.”

Shen Yuan shook his head- how did Bingge get here? And what about his world did he just leave it!?

“B-but your harem? Your palace?”

“My son will take over, he has Xin Mo, this Lord can never go back.”

Even if he wanted to , was left unsaid.

Now Shen Yuan looked distressed, and Luo Binghe felt more panicked; he had no idea it would go like this.

“If it distresses you, you can send this lord away, but please Shen Yuan let me help!”

Shen Yuan stared, eyes looking red and shiny, he opened his mouth-

“Shen Qinqiu!”

The door slammed open and Luo Binghe moved, pulling up the cloth to cover his face while the other raised his rented sword as he shielded Shen Yuan from the potential threat.

Liu Qingge who was making his way into the Bamboo House to badger Shen Qingqiu to get his meridians cleansed, faltered at the strange man standing in front of his martial sibling.

 He raised his own blade.

“Who is this!?” He yelled at Shen Qingqiu who after peeking from behind the stranger- IN HIS UNDER ROBES!- yelped moving in front and placing both hands out.

“Wait- if you two are going to fight then take it outside!”

“Apologies Shen Qingqiu,” the strange man spoke, putting away his blade.

 “This one was merely startled.”

“Who is he!?” Liu Qingge growled not trusting this stranger at all.

Luo Binghe glanced at Shen Yuan and raised an eyebrow, it’s up to him to name him.

After all, having two Luo Binghes will be confusing to others, so he can change his name since it wasn’t his world, he would gladly step aside and let the younger take the mantle as the demon emperor and enjoy his wives in that palace.

Meanwhile this Luo Binghe will enjoy his time here in the bamboo house, or in a remote location somewhere in the country side away from others sounds nice.

Shen Qingqiu stood up straight looking Luo Binghe in the eye, almost dramatically.

Maybe he knew of Binghes aliases in PIDW, would it be Tiangmo Yingcang again or-

“Hong Xingyao.” Shen Yuan spoke looking away, Luo BInghe hummed.

A demon who causes trouble Huh? And a grand one at that if that’s the meaning Shen Yuan meant to entail.

Liu Qingge scowled, “And how do you know of him? Shen Qingqiu, you have never mentioned anyone like him and to have a random cultivator in your bamboo house is something to question.” Liu Qingge scowled inching closer to hide Shen Yuan behind him.

Shen Yuan wasn’t having it, he huffed crossing his arms.

“He’s a friend, I have friends outside the sect. He told me he was coming over but I didn’t think he’d actually visit. That was on this master's foresight.”

Liu Qingge didn’t trust him at all, and Luo Binghe drank him in.

So this was the great Bai Zhan War God, he had to admit he imagined this man to look a little different.

He would like to fight him, to see if Liu Mingyan was honest about her brother being as strong as she believed he was.

 Even so…

“What is a Peak Lord doing inside another’s house at this time?”

He asked, and noticed the others' derisive sniff.

“This master could ask the same about you.”

Oh, feisty.

“After hearing that my dear friend lost his most beloved disciple Luo Binghe, this Xianyao wanted to offer some…comfort.”

He pointedly glanced at Shen Yuan in his under robes, the other completely forgetting and unaware of the conclusion his fellow martial brother came too.

Liu Qingge’s face was scarlet in mortification, or it was just anger.

“Well I am here to cleanse his meridians.”

So Hah! was silent.

As if Liu Qingge was more close to Shen Qingqiu.

It was the same as finding out your best friend had another best friend. How childish.

 Wait- cleansing his meridians?

“Why would Master Liu need to do that?” Luo Binghe asked, eyes narrowing in Shen Yuans direction.

The man downplayed his problems sometimes, the absence of Binghe hitting him the most was one thing, what else was he hiding…?

Liu Qingge pointed.

“As his dear friend you should know!”

Shen Yuan panicked and spoke, “I never told him as I didn’t want him to worry- and the Sect Leader and I had agreed that that information wouldn’t leave this bamboo house.”

Liu Qingge faltered, it was reckless advertising a weakness to a stranger even if it was to catch them in the lie it was reckless.

“It’s without a cure, I had a mishap a while ago.”

Liu Qingge openly glared at Shen Qingqiu for admitting said weakness with a shrug no less.

“Why would you tell a potential enemy your weakness!?”

“Without a cure?” Luo Binghe gaze seemed to burn into Shen Yuan who looked sheepish and avoided Luo Binghe’s eyes as he coughed.

“It happened a long time ago.”

Luo Binghes eyes narrowed, why didn’t Shen Yuan tell him?

Hmm.

“Well Liu Qingge, you are no longer needed. This one will gladly help Master Shen in purifying his body.”

Shen Yuan flushed as red as a tomato and covered his face with his fan to hide it.

Liu Qingge had enough, “This Master has been cleansing his meridians since the start. There is no need to have someone inexperienced handling something so delicate.”

“I have been known to being good with my hands, and after all it’s up to Shen Qingqiu.”

Shen Yuan stiffened as two eyes pinned his, he felt like a deer with two panthers locked onto him with their eyes glowing, about to strike.

He could feel himself sweat.

Meanwhile Shen Yuans thoughts were pin ponging all over the place, he thought;

Luo Binghe knew how to cure without a cure- the demon lord wasn’t thinking of- no that was silly, I’m a man not some wife!

Luo Binghe’s gaze softened, his smile hidden behind a black mask.

“I won’t do anything differently than what Master Liu usually does.”

Oh, he must have noticed his anxiety, Shen Yuan thought, Luo Binghe was such a sweet protagonist. Really the best!

“This Master…” well it would be a good reason to keep Luo Binghe here.

He was startled at first to see Luo Binghe at his door, but the thought of losing another Luo Binghe, of him leaving Shen Yuan alone- neither of them planned this! Or how to explain Luo Binghe being here or wondered how to integrate this man into their world, that wasn’t suspicious already, and now they stepped into a Liu shaped land mine!

 “That is-“

“Let’s fight for it, whoever wins gets to help Master Shen with his curse.”

Liu Qingge glanced at Shen Qingqiu who nodded, fine then!

“Ah- take it outside! Don’t destroy my bamboo house!”

“Don’t worry Master Shen, I’m sure Master Liu won’t be too destructive.” Luo Binghe bowed and as he stood up tall, his eyes crinkled further.

“We’ll both leave Master Shen to get dressed.”

Shen Yuan glanced down and blanched to see he was missing his outer robe.

Luo Binghe honestly thought with the bags under his eyes that Shen Yuan may sleep in longer! He didn’t mean for Shen Yuan to be in his under robes!

…And yet, Luo Binghe thought after being introduced to topics such as ‘meta’ and worldbuilding it was odd that happened to Shen Yuan…

Things like that only seemed to happen to his wives, or very attractive men in his employ…

Before he followed Liu Qingge, he felt his Shizun slip something into his pocket, he glanced down and saw the Qing Jink token, used to enter or leave Qing Jing peak for only those trustworthy.

This will temporarily sell their story of being close friends later…

As both Ex-Demon Lord and Peak Lord stood before each other on the training grounds of Bai Zhan Peak. The wind disrupting their hair, and Shen Yuan felt excitement to see the stand of but at the same time WORRIED deeply, truly worried!

…And a little excited to see this showdown that people had only theorised off.

Luo Binghe suggested they fight here, admitting it would be rude to destroy his precious friends Peak that he cherished.

Liu Qingge just wanted to fight and get it over with, he’ll have great satisfaction kicking this man of the mountain.

But after seeing Shen Qingqiu [now ready!] beam and thank Luo Binghe profusely did he relent.

So when both squared off on the training ground, with both Bai Zhan disciples and nosy Qing Jing Peak ditching classes to take a look and nervously glance at their Shizun who was too distracted to notice them skiving.

Did Shen Qingqiu speak up, almost looking worried.

“Please don’t hurt him!”

Luo Binghe smirked behind his mask, and how Shen Qingqiu’s eyes flickered over to him, it was meant Luo Binghe ears only.

“Don’t worry Shen-Shixiong. This peak lord will hold back.”

Liu Qingge spoke, assuming it was for him instead, hilarious.

Luo Binghe tutted, “Please don’t hold back on my account at all. How would this lowly one know true strength if others are too polite to give him a handicap.”

And at the signal both pounced, Liu Qingge was shocked at Luo Binghe’s speed and the only reason Liu Qingge was still standing was by changing to the defensive, raising his spiritual sword to block Binghe’s rented one.

Luo Binghe held himself back, he couldn’t expose himself as a demon after all by going all out. Liu Qingge was an excellent fighter, just as good as Liu Mingyan said he was.

Luo Binghe found himself having fun, as he leapt upwards and Liu Qingge followed, both trading blows, he was strong. Luo Binghe will give him that, maybe he might tucker him out in his early years. But this Luo Binghe has fought stronger and more difficult foes, he noticed the frustration on Liu Qingges face and the mistakes he was beginning to make.

Luo Binghe smile faded, this man was so young…

He noticed Liu Qingge growing tired, and Luo Binghe has fought and clawed his way to victory more times than the war god.

 It was an easy defeat.

As Liu Qingge found himself on his back, blade at his throat as a masked stranger looked down on him with familiar eyes.

 “Do you yield?”

Liu Qingge lips pulled into a snarl, “This Master yields.”

The man looked bemused as he extended his hand to pull the other up, which Liu Qingge begrudgingly accepted.

Shen Qingqiu sighed with relief at the outcome.

 “You both did so well,”

Luo Binghe practically skipped over to Shen Yuan, the smile behind his mask obvious with his eyes crinkled as he ducked low to Shen Yuans height.

“Did you like watching me fight, Master Shen? Now that I’ve won this lowly one can help you.” He purred, receiving a head pat and the sight reminded Liu Qingge of that little brat.

But no- this man was older, he would say older brother or maybe due to his cultivation his father perhaps?

Maybe he came in search of his son and both were grieving together…?

“A stranger cannot just live with a peak Lord,”

Not unless it was marriage and even then there was no evidence of courting, or even asking the sect leader for his blessing!

“Ah we should ask the sect leader, it’s only polite.” Shen Qingqiu spoke, and Liu Qingge almost throttled him.

“Master Shen should ask, Sect Leader Yue likes you.” Luo Binghe said sweetly, and it infuriated Liu Qingge even more.

Now Shen Qingqiu frowned, looking beyond perplexed.

“No he doesn’t, he’s just acting the role of a supportive Shixiong.”

“Ah my mistake,”

Luo Binghe to this day still has no idea what the relationship Shen Qingqiu had with Yue Qingyuan, and with Shen Yuans lack of knowledge and no memories from the previous host both will never know.

Luo Binghe almost felt bad for the Sect Leader then scoffed, the old fool turned his back on those abused and even gave his life to someone who didn’t deserve it. Luo Binghe cares not for the cowardly Sect Leader.

Even so it was beginning to become obvious that Shen Yuan had many admirers that he himself was not aware of.

It appeared his younger counterpart and Binghe had plenty of competition.

Even for an emperor with wives in the three digits, this seemed like a challenge even to him.

As they all journeyed to Qiong Ding peak, did Luo Binghe find himself thinking as he followed behind Shen Qingqiu and Liu Qingge.

If what Shen Yuan said was correct that ‘Binghe’ is the higher power and world's child then surely Shen Yuan would’ve perished with Without-a-cure.

His wife Qin Wanyue was dying and yet here Shen Yuan stood.

Hell the fact that Shen Yuan was even hit with a poison only a heavenly demon could cure was another hint.

It wasn’t possible, but alas the answer was there as clear as day.

The Luo Binghe of this world loves Shen Qingqiu, he gave his Shizun a ‘halo.’

This was as good a confirmation, on one hand it shows not all is lost, on another….

Luo Binghe sighed, on another his plans of quietly settling down with Shen Yuan was a bust as the other Binghe probably won’t be acquiring his harem and would want his Shizun instead.

But this was good news if his younger counterpart loved his Shizun that meant he had no need to worry too much.

Then again the only danger is Xin Mo’s corruption.

The sword will still be a danger to Shen Yuan, his younger counterpart wouldn’t kill him.

But would he take Shen Yuan against his will? Would he just kidnap the man he loves and chain him to his bed?

Uncaring of how Shen Yuan feels?

This Luo Binghe had those same thoughts clouded by Xin Mo in his world, before he came here….

Luo Binghe won’t kill Shen Yuan, but he’s still a danger, he may even entertain the idea of ripping off his limbs to keep him immobile and have Shen Yuan trapped with only Luo Binghe to take care of him.

This Luo Binghe shivered at the dark thoughts clouding his head.

No matter what, he’ll do everything in his power to keep Shen Yuan safe.

And yet the same cosmic entity that made the world bend to Luo Binghe was doing the same to him.

The sect leader smiled and accepted this stranger into Cang Ciong and allowed him to enter Qing Jing Peak whenever he liked.

Luo Binghe was wary at first Yue Qingyuan was always stronger than him, he was someone he could never hope to beat, even now he felt as if he could fight a thousand lifetimes and still not be close enough to lasting a minute against Yue Qingyuan.

The man nodded and let them go, Shen Yuan was fuming at the bad ‘writing’ and how easy that was.

Luo Binghe thanked his lucky stars it was that easy.

But this was concerning, if the world wanted to bend to ‘Luo Binghes’ will, what would happen with two Luo Binghes with opposing goals?

Would it destroy their world?

Now Luo Binghe was beginning to regret coming here, what if his presence made things worse? What if he broke the rules of the world and threw it into disarray- already they had no idea how the younger Luo will act by the actions of Shen Yuan.

And with no idea how this ‘story’ will progress, Shen Yuan was definitely anxious. Luo Binghe never had to worry before, he lived his life not knowing what fate had in store for him. But he had to admit, being told he was a character, who had rules and law to protect him and that he was unbeatable?

He found himself unbothered by it, existential crisis who? No what matter was how he could manipulate these ‘rules’ in his favour, better yet…he wondered if Shen Yuan would like to experiment with these rules and see if they still hold true in this world.

Would he have…plot armour? Is that what Shen Yuan called it? He wanted to try it out, but alas. Shen Yuan looked tired, maybe another time…

Even so once they arrived back at the bamboo house, did Shen Yuan point at Luo Binghe with his fan.

“I don’t care if you're a powerful demon lord- that was way too close! We need to think of a good cover story!” Luo Binghes smile widened further.

Even seeing the face of Shen Qingqiu glare at him and waving around his fan should make Luo Binghe’s hackles raise.

And yet hearing Shen Yuan make plans, incorporating him, including Luo Binghe to make him stay he happily obliged.

They began to work on a cover story to make it more believable, Yue Qingyuan may interrogate them later individually to prove Luo Binghe isn’t some spirit taking advantage of their weakest Peak Lord.

“Shizun, you’re not the weakest…” Luo Binghe took his hand, and the other huffed.

“You can’t call me Shizun, either.”

“Hmm Shen Qingqiu, then?”

The other nodded but Luo Binghe leaned closer “Or can I call you Shen Yuan?”

The other slapped him with his fan, his pale face burning red.

“You know why that’s a bad idea-“

“In private then?”

Shen Yuan hit him with his fan again.

And the next most daunting question, if the need happened to arise, where was Luo Binghe expected to sleep?

Shen Yuan immediately glanced at the side room then blanched. Luo Binghe smiled, patting Shen Yuan's hand.

“This one will rent a room at the inn down town-“

Shen Yuan's mouth open in alarm.

“It’s okay, Shen Yuan, this Lord will not be callous as to take the side room, after all it means to you and my counterpart.-“

“It’s fine- I mean the side room is not fine I mean- you can just sleep in the bamboo house with me.”

Luo Binghe’s eyes widened.

How bold of his little soul!

“It’ll be like a sleepover! I’ll sleep on the floor and you can take the bed-“

“Nonsense, a stranger can’t take a Peak Lords bed!” Luo Binghe spoke alarmed- and Shen Yuan had without a cure, Luo Binghe may be awful but he wasn’t that cruel!

“Then we can share a bed then.” Shen Yuan smiled, as if it was that easy.

…Shen Yuan might kill him.

Or maybe that brute will be lucky and end him, himself.

Luo Binghe coughed looking away, his face burning “For the time being.”

Shen Yuan titled his head, was the thought of sharing a bed with another man that awful?

Or was it because it was him?

Shen Yuan was unsure how to take it but truthfully? He missed Binghe, it was a struggle to wake up once he actually went to bed. He focused on his work so much that he had nothing left to do.

…he had a suspicion that Ming Fan was purposefully taking over the workload. Damn him.

But if he woke up again, and this was all a dream, that Binghe wasn’t real and he was losing it?

He wasn’t replacing his Binghe, but if he woke up with no one there he didn’t know how he’ll continue on.

He could manage before, but this little hope? It might push him to the brink…

The next morning, Luo Binghe having falling asleep the travel and using Xin Mo to make the portal must have made him more tired than he thought and Shen Yuan practically dragged him to bed, and when the morning rays illuminated the bedroom,  Luo Binghe was already watching Shen Yuan.

He liked watching the other wake up as the morning rays made his skin glow, the others eyes scrunched up annoyed at the sun for waking him but when he saw Binghe he flinched.

“Good morning, Shen Yuan.” He spoke softly, he would gladly call him Shizun, but it ended up frightening the other more than making him relax.

Shen Yuan outstretched his hand, cupping Binghe’s cheek looking unsure.

 “Bingge?”

“Hmm!”

Luo Binghe cupped his hand and moved into the touch.

 “So last night happened?”

“Yes. Want this disciple to make you breakfast?”

Shen Yuan nodded, withdrawing his hand.

Luo Binghe got ready then pulled up the black silk to cover his face and went down to the kitchens, he knew what his younger counterpart made.

So he decided to do the opposite. He didn’t want to replace the other Binghe or fill that void until he came back.

He wanted Shen Yuan to see him as his own person.

And to do that is to stand out.

Luo Binghe had been with Shen Yuan for a few months now, easily slotting into this lifestyle as if he was made for it. At first he thought that he was replacing the other Binghe, thinking when Shen Yuan looked at him he was seeing the ‘other’ Binghe.

But when Shen Yuan took his arm to realise he was real, when he asked if he was still dreaming, Luo Binghe took his hand and told Shen Yuan he wasn’t dreaming he was wide awake.

Even so, when Without a cure flared up, even with the medicine prescribed from Mu Qingfan, Luo Binghe couldn’t help but feel distressed and so decided to take a chance and hope Shen Yuan would not think differently of him.

But truthfully, Luo Binghe was worried, if this world was designed for Luo Binghes wants and he wanted Shen Yuan- would without-a-cure that was once manageable suddenly become worse to force this scenario?

And when Luo Binghe watched Mu Qingfangs worried look, wondering if maybe it was a different person cleansing his meridians but as he supervised, and Luo Binghe was ready to let Liu Qingge take over, the doctor shook his head.

“It’s nothing different, if anything nothing should be putting Shen Qingqiu in this state- don’t worry this Doctor will find other remedies-”

The fact that the man even has medicine and knows how to mitigate Without-A-Cure was amazing enough even so…

Luo Binghe couldn’t help but think this was somehow his fault. But…if the worlds rules were to bend to Luo Binghe maybe…?

He decided to try something.

“Shen Yuan,” he spoke after pouring the other his tea, and waiting for Shen Yuans attention to focus on him.

“You know that without a cure has a cure.”

Shen Yuan almost choked on his tea, after coughing and clearing his throat his eyes narrowed. “This Master knows,”

“Shen Yuan, this lord could help you. You won’t have to be burdened anymore,”

Shen Yuan wasn’t looking at him anymore. And Luo Binghe bit his lip, “Please Shen Yuan-”

“I don’t want Luo Binghe to do this because of obligation, you repay kindness and cruelty tenfold, but Binghe doesn’t have to push himself for this one, this master has managed Without a cure for a long time that I’ve gotten used to it.”

Luo Binghe shook his head, thinking of reaching out then pausing.

Usually both didn’t mind contact. But for this- it was important.

Luo Binghe retracted his hand and instead held his cup that was still hot, untouched tea.

“Shen Yuan, this one doesn’t want you to be uncomfortable, or see this Lord in a different way, or withdraw. But the truth is I would gladly help with this as it’s no burden to me, This Lord will marry you,” He spoke, and the strangest thing? He’s never felt this tongue-tied with a wife, he never cared for the bonds of marriage but with Shen Yuan he felt himself terrified.

“-and I’ll be your one and only devoted husband.”

Shen Yuan finally looked at him, his eyes wide with shock.

 “You can’t be serious-“

“This Lord is deadly serious.” Luo Binghe spoke, looking him in the eye, and saw how wrong footed Shen Yuan looked.

This actually set Luo Binghe at ease, being apprehensive or even second guessing Luo Binghe felt genuine. It wasn’t the world bending itself and Shen Yuan to his whim, no one would second guess Luo Binghe and would nod and blindly follow.

If Shen Yuan wasn’t a puppet to the world, then without-a-cure should also no longer be as dire of a threat.

“This Binghe doesn’t want to pressure Shen Yuan or frighten him. It’s your choice. This Binghe will still be here, as a friend or a servant, anything you need.”

Shen Yuan looked lost and honestly bewildered by Luo Binghes confession, did he truly think that no one would desire Shen Yuan? That he wasn’t beautiful- even with Shen Qingqius face, Luo Binghe still cherishes the man with short hair and glasses.

“I love you Shen Yuan,”

“B-but your harem you- you’ve never-I’m a man!“

Was that what the problem was?

“Man or women, it’s the same to me. Never be in doubt of my feelings. But if you don’t return them then this Lord will accept that,”

Shen Yuan looked shaken and pale, so Luo Binghe stood he may have went too far but he believed being blunt might actually help Shen Yuan realise he was being honest..

“I’ll leave you to think about it, I’ll return to cook breakfast for you tomorrow.”

Before he left he lingered at the door and turned back, “And Shen Yuan?”

His Shizun looked up, still looking uplifted as Luo Binghe smiled, “You don’t owe this Lord anything. No pity, or obligation. No matter your answer I’ll accept it, or if you do accept we still don’t have to deal with without a cure. I won’t use that as a bartering tool for your hand.” Luo Binghe spoke, he wanted to be clear that he never wanted to use anything as an excuse, but hey two birds one stone.

And if they did remove without a cure, and continue on as friends and never cross that line in the future…

It was all up to Shen Yuan.

Notes:

A/N: me: wouldn’t it be great if SY the hardcore fan and Binghe defender sat during the night stewing and thinking.
“I would give a great courtesy name to Binghe. But the airplane hack didn’t give it to him so Binghe goes around without one because his scum teacher didn’t give him one grrr.”
How sweet would it be that SY gives Binghe his courtesy name as his Shizun and how touched the other would be.
Cool let’s google “how to make a courtesy name.” As Chinese is not my first language!
Also Chinese isn’t my first language AND I don’t plan on writing any Chinese novels irl or professional [if I did I WILL do research] but for Fanfic? Yeah I just want to get the story out as quick as I can at this point I havnt read the novels for Mo Dao Zu Shi, Heavenly official blessing, white cat and his Shizun and Thousand Autumns.
I haven't read that yet so I don’t get confused when writing my mini stories here.
So making names when google is against me makes me want to lose it.

Just found a website and one word for demon/fiend came up as èmó.
I thought it was fucking with me but it’s not Aha!
So for his alias it’s Hing Xingyao.
Hong: “rainbow.” Hong also means to “expand,” or “something grand.” 🤭
Xīngyāo: summon demons to create havoc stir up all types of trouble

Then the other names I wrote in case.
Bai: means white
Méi: charm demon magic
Yinmó:lewd demon/pervert

So yeah if you guys know any websites PLEASe share. That to me is a helpful critic.

Chapter 6: Shrooms

Summary:

God DAMMIT I just named the chapter Shroos and I should've had a funny drug scene ugh missed opportunity.
Both Qinghua, Qingqiu and Binghe like "It's too damn depressing lets smoke this spare mushroom while the other spare body grows."
Ah well.
So both Binghe/Yuan go get their mushroom body back-up and also go to the brothel so if Shen Yuan does get killed by Bingmei then he'll send a essage and stay at the brothel and Bingge could pick him up- and both can go retire in a far away run down village and continue their honeymoon :D

Notes:

…agh I always have tons of ideas oh well but how cool would it be if Shen Jiu did come back- and I’m not messing with you guys but there is another story where Shen Jiu is vomited by the system and both Bingmei and Shen Yuan raise him and is called their son and it’s super wholesome until bingge comes in and kidnaps his former Shizun lmao. Also me- agh can I upload this yet? I want to get to the Bingmei arrival but I have to write the annoying bits first plus I have a word limit and don’t want it to be too short.
-Sees pages- YES
[Note; I go by pages instead of word limits like 15 pages etc. the last story was 26 pages at least but I’m pacing myself ALSO my google doc is failing me- please don’t I’m dyslexic ;^;- I wrote thouroughly and it was JUST the first ‘U’ thats wrong so its thoroughly.
And it just said ‘word MAY be mispelt- I KNOW you have the red wiggle line on it so how DO you spell it- and it gives me no suggestion like a whole
Idk YOU figure it out.
I swear ever since ai/ predictive text spellcheck is suddenly no longer working? And to realise it was just the ONE ‘U’ and it was so simple like you were stumped at that really??????????? ugh.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Luo Binghe placed his hands on Shen Qingqiu’s back, then pushed his qi through and felt it travel through the others meridians.

No thanks to his previous Shizuns teachings, Luo Binghe had to learn from scratch.

Its what got him out the holy mausoleum after all, even so he felt thankful that he knew enough about this to even put Mu Qingfang to shame.

And to even sit here and help cleanse Shen Yuans meridians from without a cure, Luo Binghe truly thought he ruined it.

When Luo Binghe left Shen Yuan to think at that time, the later returned the next morning after a quiet and tense breakfast, Shen Qingqiu spoke after placing down his chopsticks.

 “This Master is undecided.”

Huh?

Now Shen Yuan looked away, “This Master comes from a world where two men being together is looked down upon,” he spoke and Luo Binghe blinked that sounded ridiculous.

Shang Qinghua was this close to marrying Mobei-Jun if the little rat hadn’t betrayed his close friend, Luo Binghe recalled from his world, so someone wrote the story to include diversity, unless Shen Yuan missed it….

“This one is unsure, and does not want to raise up Luo Binghe’s hopes just to realise down the line that we are just really close friends, more like brothers,”

Hmm, Shen Yuan wanted friendship and that was fine, but this uncertainty…

Luo Binghe was stumped usually from a wife this meant, I’m saying no when really I want you to fuck me into the floor to the point I can’t remember my name.

…he had a feeling Shen Yuan was t asking him that, but Shen Yuan knows the world building and language to convey a characters wants and needs.

Surely if he was aware of this then the way he phrased it like a shy wife-

No. Luo Binghe closed his eyes, there was too many variables here, there was only one solution.

“Why not try courting, contrary to my story it’s not meant to be quick. Most courtings last years,” Luo Binghe spoke.

“We can both try to see if we’re compatible without going too far, that way Shen Yuan can know for sure.”

Shen Yuan fidgeted with his fan then nodded, “Okay.”

“Before we begin, is there anything Shen Yuan is uncomfortable with?”

“Hmm? Like what?” Shen Yuans face was slowly becoming red, what was he imagining?

 “Can this Lord kiss you?”

The others mouth fell open, “That’s, well…that’s fine, I suppose.”

Luo Binghe almost flung the table between them out the way. He mentally glared at it, it was a worthy barrier.

“And what we’ve been doing so far? If Shen Yuan is uncomfortable with casual touches because of the context, this Lord will understand.”

Shen Yuan opened his fan, looking more flustered “D-do what you like.”

Oh Shizun, don’t say that in such a cute way, this Binghe self control is that of rotten straw that will break at the slightest weight.

Once they figured out rooming arragments and hilariously concocting a story for him being there, Luo Binghe settled in at Qing Jing Peak flawlessly.

Others speculated he was an old disciple returning to court their Shizun.

Others had sour impressions believing he was taking advantage of Shen Yuans state to brute force a marriage with a respectable peak lord.

 As if.

He had enough riches to live independently, other than Ming Fan and his croonies Luo Binghe got along well with the younger disciples well enough.

And his theory was correct, after Shen Yuan and he set the boundary that sex was no an option and that courting will take a long time, without a cure calmed down significantly. If Luo Binghe wanted it he could will it.

But the world has a funny way of giving him what he wanted.

Shen Yuan said it was like a genie the one who granted your wish in an obnoxious way to the point where it was probably better to not to make the wish at all.

Luo Binghe had to be careful in how he wanted something, but the younger Luo Binghe doesn’t know that. The world will bend itself into knots to deliver Shen Qingqiu to him even with broken pieces…

Luo Binghe spoke to Shen Yuan about a possible stratergy to deal with the younger when he returns, physically Luo Binghe can fight him.

But what should they do when it comes to that?

Hmm, Shang Qinghua was a traitor, but he worked for Mobei-Jun and in turn, Luo Binghe.

And so Shen Qingqiu decided to hassle his Shidi, and confront him about the massacre of the immortal alliance.

“Should I accompany you, Shen Yuan?”

The man waved his fan, “No need, the rat will keep silent with a stranger present.”

He had to trust him, it was awful seeing Shen Yuan go,  if anything were to happen to him-

Maybe he should ask him to drink his blood parasites- no the younger will take advantage of such a thing.

Even so, he felt like a dog abandoned by his owner.

He kept licking things up, then putting them away, and the next thing he knew, he was cleaning.

It wasn’t until he found himself in the side room did he realise what he almost did, he placed a dusty journel back down. Disturbing the dust and took a step back.

He almost bumped into Shen Qingqiu at his back.

He tensed, “Shizun-“

“It’s fine, I saw you cleaning the incense here, you didn’t do it on purpose.”

Shen Yuan was still staring at the room, the look he had when Luo Binghe first arrived here began to fade as he was begining to be more aware of his surroundings.

But it was back again, and Luo Bknghe hated himself for putting it there.

“Maybe since you are Luo Binghe- it would be okay?”

Luo Binghe took his hand.

“I promise I won’t disturb too much, I’m only dust and clean the sheets Hmm.”

Shen Yuan nodded, “Yeah we’ll do that, I’ll get the broom-“

“It’s fine, this Lord can manage, how about you tell me about your meeting with Shang Qinghua?”

He asked manouvering Shen Yuan away from the room and moved to the cleaning supplies closet.

“Oh, that reminds me! Shang Qinghua can get stomped by a Month Python Rhino!”

Luo Binghe’s attention snapped to his Shizuns “is he a threat?”

“To my mental health, sure. He’s another Transmigrator like me. He claims he didn’t want to do any of that stuff but the system is as much of a hardass on him as it is me.”

Hmm, “do we work with him? Or should this Lord dispose of him?”

Shen Yuan looked surprised, “Oh he’s harmless, he promised to help me out and hassle a mission from the sect leader. I think I have a solution for…  my Binghe.”

Luo Binghe perked up, “And what is that?”

“Ever heard of the sun and moon dew mushroom?”

Luo Binghe had to cast his mind back to recall and made a sound as he remembered, “Ah my wife, that was a interesting one.”

Shen Yuan nodded, “So when Luo Binghe arrives in five years, this one will have a backup body to jump to just in case.”

“Hmm, would it be here or-?”

Shen Yuan shook his head, “too obvious, and…it’s be better if people believe that Shen Qingqiu died.”

“Then how will this lord find Shizun?”

What if something goes wrong? How would Luo.l Binghe know?

“I’ll write a message to Cang Qiong for the Red light pavillion, I’ll claim I’m an old friend of Shen Qingqiu’s and send condolences. That will be my message to meet.”

 Luo Binghe felt something settle.

They had a plan.

Luo Bonghe accompanied Shen Yuan along with the rat on their mission to Huan Hua.

Already Luo Binghe zeroed in on the… wrongness of Shang Qinghua.

Already he carried himself differently, he seemed nervous, yet easy going. Lazy but still a sharp mind.

Hmm, if he didn't have Binghe to compete with he’d say Shang Qinghua plays the part of a two faced blackened protagonist.

He seems polite and easy going, but he seemed to type to spit in the face of the people who wronged him.

But the other Shang Qinghua was more cold, greedy, almost more vile than the scum villain.

And yet this one was almost cute, more like a hamster than a rat.

He must have been staring too long as Shang Qinghua was sweating bullets at this stranger glaring at him.

Shen Yuan sighed, “You’re being rude.”

Luo Binghe beamed, like a switch.

“Apologies Shizun.”

Shang Qinghua had no idea who this intimidating person was and it scared the fuck out of him.

As they began to walk further into Huan Hua territory, did Luo Binghe hold Shen Yuans arm.

“Careful, Master Shen. There’s a ward here.”

Instead of being shocked or even surprised instead Shen Yuan looked delighted.

“Ah your speciality is wards! You never fail to be impressive, to detect this.”

Luo Binghe for once found himself looking away clearing his throat.

“It’s just wards, once you know what to look out for…”

“Why doesn’t Binghe show me?”

Luo Binghe was stunned at this little soul, how smooth.

“Of course, Master Shen.”

Shang Qinghua who tried to listen in only huffed as he was practically the third wheel to this illusive cultivators date with a peak lord.

There was no need to cub it in! He wept, Shang Qinghua kicked a rock, feeling sullen at his lack of love life.

Until the bush he kicked the rock in trembled he cried out falling back behind Binghe and Shen Qingqiu as a creature sprung free then slithered away.

It’s movements were so freaky bordering on unnatural!

“What is that?”

Shen Qingqiu asked, even with his extensive demon knowledge even he was at a loss.

Luo Binghe was in a similar boat, on all his travels in his world he’s never came across a creature such as this.

…that was worrying.

It was another variable that changed from his story, the more changes the more unpredictable the outcome.

Shang Qinghua squinted at the thing that slithered away, it was running away so it was no threat.

“I don’t remember writing that.”

Luo Binghe stiffened.

“Apologies Master Shang, Written?”

Shang Qinghua blinked “Ah nothing nothing- this one was just-“

Luo Binghe grabbed him and slammed him into a tree towering over the smaller man.

“You mean to tell me you wrote my story!?”

Shang Qinghua blanched trying to make himself smaller,

Shen Yuan was yelling “Binghe! Stop he didn’t mean for this to happen-“

“Binghe!?” Shang Qinghua cried out eyes wide, then rolled as he slumped, at first Luo Binghe thought it was a trick then blinked to see that Shang Qinghua was truly dead weight.

 He’d feinted.

Shen Yuan sighed, “Believe me I hate him as well, but he was writing a story, he had no idea it would be real if it did I’m sure he would’ve wrote you a happier ending.”

Luo Binghe sighed closing his eyes.

It appeared he was still clinging onto the past.

He picked Shang Qinghua up and carried him in a firearm carry until the other woke up.

 “We should keep going,”

Shen Yuan only stared at him.

“Binghe, do you want to talk about it?”

“Talk about what, Master Shen?”

“How this world was a story, it may have started out that way but we’re real. Both of us, and you have thoughts and feelings too, in one world it’s a story but we’re here now. Together.”

Luo Binghe stared then chuckled adjusting Shang Qinghua on his shoulder.

“But Shizun,” he spoke with amusement, “How do you know that this isn’t a story, with thousands of eyes watching us same as how you watched me?”

Shen Yuan shivered turning away, “I never thought about that till now.”

Luo Binghe laughed, who knows maybe the stories in this world is real somewhere else.

The creature appeared again, but it was Shen Yuan who called out.

“Don’t be scared! We’re not going to hurt you!”

The creature paused then scurried back looking up at them with big cloudy eyes, it even made Luo Binghe shiver and he’s seen a lot of things.

As Shen Yuan spoke to the creature kindly, intelligent eyes drinking him in, Luo Binghe couldn’t help but think Shen Yuan was some animal whisperer…

Of course the creature knew what they needed and decided to be their guide.

Very lucky.

Until a sword almost skewered their guide.

Binghe drew his own, the guide scampering off, until a Huan Hua robe appeared in view.

Oh.

“Ah Gongyi Xiao! What a surprise to see you here!”

Gongyi Xiao smiled good naturally, “Likewise, Master Shen. This one felt a disturbance in the wards and came to investigate.”

Ah, the promising Huan Hua disciple, Luo Bi ghe felt bad for tossing him at an outpost in the middle of nowhere, then again with the mood he was usually in, Gongyi Xiao was spared all the calamity of the worlds destruction at Huan Hua’s hands and was spared the blame.

He wondered if the Palace Mistress went back to her old lover once Binghe left, although if Gongyi Xiao had any back bone, he would tell the princess to get lost.

“Where was Master Shen planning to see? This Gongyi Xiao will gladly escort you both away from our illusion wards.”

There was no need, with Binghe here. alas, Gongyi Xiao didn’t know that, and probably planned to detour the two away from anyway suspicious.

“Oh we were looking for a plant, hidden in a cave and wondered about its properties.”

Gongyi Xiao nodded, “This Xiao will accompany Lord Shen and his friend.”

Here Gongyi Xiao’s eyes flickered to Luo Binghe’s then turned to escort them away.

Shen Yuan ended up walking in front as he had some idea where it was, after getting lost and explaining the cave did Gongyi Xiao nod in recognition.

“It’s this way,” he spoke and Luo Binghe found himself watching the young man, what a promising helpful disciple, lots of potential too…

He sighed internally, the human aspect of ruling would’ve been easier with Gongyi Xiao taking over their affairs, to think he was reliant of that Rat Qinghua then Mobei-Hun killed from from a perceived betrayel which of course- Qinghua betrayed his own family for power and his eyes lingered onto Binghe for far too long in the Kings tastes and thus believed Qinghua betray him for the demon lord.

Unaware previously Qinghua asked their junshang on advice on courting since he had so many wives, and Mobei-Jun Misconstructed it.

And Luo Binghe had never told his loyal right hand man, thinking it was too distracting to think Mobei-Jun ruined his own chances on his own without any input from others.

So Luo Binghe told Mobei-Jun before he left, revealing that if he had stayed his hand and heard that his servant was only asking their emporer for advice not propositioning him as a bed mate, the two would’ve been happily married now.

Mobei-Jun only nodded walking away, it looked like he didn’t care, maybe the man had moved on, maybe he himself realised it, maybe Qinghua explained in his final moments and Mobei-Jun already knew his clumsy hands destroyed something that he wanted loved and treasured.

He found his eyes moving to Shen Yuan, his own fears ignoring, that someone so warn and kind could be sniffed out so easily.

If he brought Xin Mo with him he would want the sword, just in case, it was powerful and could travel-

He shook his head. No need to fall into withdrawals, he gritted his teeth thankful for the mask.

He didn’t need the sword he was a heavenly emporer, and survived the eternal abyss without it.

He kept telling himself until a hand took his own and he glanced at Shen Yuan who still chattered excitedly with Gongyi Xiao who was receptive to Shen Qingqiu’s babbles.

Shen Yuan squeezed his hand and Luo Bknghe focused on that finally feeling his thoughts settle down.

Aware of where he was and who he was with.

…thinking of Gongyi Xiao and his world along with Mobei-Jun he never realised how callous he was.

At least this time Huan Hua would have a better Palace Master and by the looks of it may even have a close relationship with Cang Qiong.

From mortal enemies to close friends, how impossible yet a lovely fantasy of that we’re to happen…

They came across the cave, and walked inside treading lightly, until their was a scuttle and something brushed up against his leg-

Luo Binghe reacted almost attacking before pulling his hand back as he relaxed.

“You need to stop scaring us, little one.” He spoke, using his qi to create a light, the creature followed them in, Gongyi Xiao’s hand flew to his sword.

“There’s no need Master Gongyi. There have been no reports of incidents here and it appears with how the skin looks it has been here for a long time.”

Gongyi Xiao finally looked at the creature and put his sword away.

“Master Shen is truly wise, this Xiao will learn to be more aware in the future.”

Shen Yuan nodded and the creature turned around and began to lead them in deeper.

Once they saw a lake inside the cave they noticed the creature shuffle on its feet like a dog trying to get its treat that was too far away.

Shen Yuan almost stepped on the water, but Luo Binghe took his hand.

“No need Shizun, let this disciple retrieve it.”

Shen Yuan smiled, “Thank you, Hong Xingyao”

Luo Binghe completely forgot about his fake name, and that they had company.

Luo Binghe stepped on the water, using his qi and was able to get back just as quick, not before giving a mushroom to the creature.

“Here, it looked like you needed it.”

There was something about this thing that made Luo Binghe feel sorry for it and want to help it. He almost felt a kinship with it and had no idea why…

It nodded, seemed to glare at Gongyi Xiao [For almost killing it] and scurried off.

All seemed well until-

That feeling- the static and even a muffled buzzing sound like a voice talking in another room.

It was sudden, and Shen Yuan flinched looking up at a certain point calm as if nothing was wrong and he was casually looking around the cave.

But it was the system.

Luo Binghe could feel panic- was something wrong?

But instead, Shen Yuan looked relieved and nodded.

Nothing wrong, good.

Luo Binghe had no idea how he dealt with it, or maybe it was different experiencing it first hand.

Even so, mission accomplished! And Gongyi Xiao was kind enough to escort them out of the cave and the forest of Huan Hua.

He even promised not to say anything about their foraging trip.

“Ah, may this Master ask why?”

Gongyi Xiao did the equivalent of a shrug.

“Knoledge on Flora may benefit the cultivation world. What use is pride if it keeps one ignorant, knowledge should also be shared as well.”

Oh Gongyi Xiao did have a spine.

Shen Yuan laughed, “We’ll send you a report on our findings as soon as we can Master Gongyi.”

The man beamed, sunlight and sunny.

He was similair to Binghe, like his opposite and yet still had some cunning.

That was good, already there was so many differences at least they have a reliable ally in case things turn south…

The years slipped by like sand through their fingers.

Both worked on their story to the point where all of Cang Qiong mountain had it in their heads the two were already engaged.

Yue Qingyuan had even joined them for tea and grilled them on their relationship.

Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan lying their asses of seamlessly.

And both even went to the brothel, he hated his scum teacher but for Shen Yuan he figured it’s be best if he had more allies and options.

His reaction when he saw he was taken to the brothel and his face shut down, cold and blank.

Luo Binghe almost flinched at the look.

“Binghe- I know this Master has promised to entertain such a relationship- but this is too much!”

Luo Binghe blinked, Hmm?

“Oh? oh ! Shizun no, we’re not going to be using any services, don't worry!”

That may have been too fast even for him! and too forward even for Shen Yuan!

“This lord wanted to surprise you- it’s a good surprise,”

Shen Yuan relented and was dragged into the red light pavilion and saw the ladies brighten.

“Peak Lord Shen!”

“Jiu-ge!”

“You’re back!”

Shen Yuan felt uncomfortable by all the attention glancing at Binghe uncertainly.

The girls noticed as they came close.

“Master Shen, are you alright?”

Luo Binghe coughed stepping forward.

“This one is pleased to meet all of you, Master Shen expressed in his letters how much you were like his family, this one is Hong Xingyao, a friend to Master Shen.”

The girls glanced at him then back to Shen Yuan. And their faces fell as Binghe explained his Shizun lost his memory and believed in the rumours that he came to the brothel for leacherous purposes and never stepped foot back in the establishment.

The women were horrified that they almost lost Peak Lord Shen and how his own marital siblings dissuaded him from coming.

“Oh that mountain- that sect leader wait until I get my hands on him!”

Shen Yuan was reintroduced to his family, and even seemed to fit in, you wouldn’t think he had amnesia the girls thought as he plaited one’s hair while he spoke softly and how nice it felt.

He could actually relax.

Even Luo Binghe relaxed, pulling down his mask to drink wine and ask stories about his Shizun, especially since he couldn't remember.

Luo Binghe never bothered personally after all he hated Shen Qingqiu, but he had a feeling Shen Yuan would appreciate learning more about the person he was supposed to be.

In contrast to the mountain that never divulged such information in case it made him remember and reverted him back to his old state, angry, on guard, distrustful of others.

Luo Binghe began to understand his Shizun with a calm tiredness. Weary acceptance that if Shen Jiu was a rogue cultivator on his own without so much burdens probably would’ve been happier.

And the ladies told him everything, every little experience and issue he had with the mountain both Binghe and Shen Yuan were stunned by how much he slept here in his early years before ascending as peak lord never feeling safe, or being upset by how harsh Liu Qingge was for beating him up when he knew his cultivation was weak!

Shen Yuan still valued the war gods company and saw him as a friend and still liked him, he knew that teenagers were also little snots who didn’t know what they were doing and their relationship was better now. And who knows maybe Shen Jiu magnified or omitted some parts of his story-! Even so it did change his opinion of the war god and the others because at least he has some gaps in the timeline filled with actually moments meanwhile the mountain was silent and never explained his life if they knew he had amnesia.

He would trust the ones who actually gave evidence than the ones who said nothing.

Of course Liu Qingge and Qi Qingqi put up a fuss claiming Luo Binghe was dragging their Peak Lord back into bad habits which of course Shen Yuan stayed quiet, accepting the tongue lashing but Binghe had enough.

With undisguised glee told he told the two to go to the brothel and receive their complaints themselves, then punish Shen Qingqiu as they saw fit.

Shen Yuan blinked unsure why Luo Binghe would defend him like that, but Binghe smirked, his eyes crinkling to show his smile hidden with the mask.  “Shizun, don’t underestimate this one, after all. Once the jiejies are done their will be nothing left of the two peak lords.”

Ah, Binghe just threw them to the wolves they were going to hear complaints alright but not against Shen Qingqiu!

It went even further, giving that danger always strikes the lowest of society. As they are easier targets and no one cares if they are killed compared to a noble, crime became rampart without a peak lord patreon to keep order. Wasn’t it righteous to be kind and generous to those who are poor and needy? And yet turn around to only help the rich and the strong ignoring those in need? Hypocrites!

Liu Qingge had never looked so bruised, even Qi Qingqi couldn’t look Shen Qingqiu in the eye.

Especially when the brothel women said Shen Qingqiu acted like them, a person who was once abused and how dare they jump to conclusions about their own marital sibling, no wonder he looked for comfort in a brothel! Free of judgement and just wanted to sleep as he felt unsafe on his own peak !?

The ladies told them they would gladly take him of their hands and host Shen Qingqiu as their permanent tenant if they do t treat him with the basic human decency he deserves.

Luo Binghe was, of course, enjoying himself. Now no one will bother them when they plan for the Younger Luo Binghe’s arrival at the brothel and assume they were both messing around.

But Shen Yuan looked sad and guilty.

“Shen Yuan? What’s the matter?” Did he go to far?

“I just feel bad, Shen Jiu has never been defended like that, now he’s not here to realise how much the women loved him.”

Luo Binghe sighed, wrapping his arm around his waist and pulling him close.

“It’s okay Shizun. Shen Jiu in this world passed away peacefully in a qi deviation. It’s better than the death he would’ve gotten, hated by his sect and sacrificed like a lamb to slaughter, there’s no need to feel guilty when it’s not your fault you didn’t choose to be Shen Qingqiu.”

Shen Yuan nodded, “Thanks Binghe…” He leaned in closer, and both Peak Lords who watched drank vinegar at the sight. But they had to get used to it, in the meeting with the arrival of this new man, Shen Qingqiu admitted he was only entertaining him and was waiting for him to grow bored and didn’t mind indulging as he had nothing else to do to…take his mind of things.

So they allowed it- confident in Shen Qingqiu kicking the young man off the mountain sooner or later.

…But this was ridiculous, was it all hot air? Did he act coy, because now the two were being sticky and practically being lovey dovey in public. He began to brighten up again, smile again.

And the Peak Lords were in a precarious position because this man had weaselled his way past their Shixiongs defences and he may be a permanent resident and familiar face for the future of Cang Qiong!

This was unfair, and yet their hands were tied.

If this young man truly made their Shixiong happy…they had to bite their tongues and watch the man and make sure he never even thought of poking Shen Qingqius heart never mind getting the chance to break it!

Notes:

not me breaking the fourth wall, and also not me forgetting Binghe’s fake name already agh!
Also [commenter] was kind enough to give a courtesy name for Binghe, [I honestly can’t wrap my head around Chinese thank god Im not doing this professionally I’ll cry]
I fuck up english on a good day and THATS my native language I'm too dumb for Chinese ;^;
but I have no idea who should get the courtesy name because it’s romantic to call your spouse their actual names it’s intimate so calling Binghe his courtesy name is sweet but only referring to him as such creates distance.
And Bingmei will just be happy being calling Binghe [or the word for the Peak Lord spouse I forget it but Inll write it here later] so Bingge should get the name. But his moment has passed no matter what it’s not his Shizun so it makes sense for SY to give it to Bingmei as he is his Shizun and Bingge may be happy just being called Bingge [and have his fantasy retirement home fantasy while the younger actually rules the realms lol] Ah I don’t know. I might have to save it for a future fic.
and for the next couple chapters also I thought man imagine if Bingge is extra flirty with men and Bingmei gets annoyed by it?
Like “Oh we’re keeping Gongyi Xiao,” and Bingmei is like Huh?
“Oh Mobei-jun and I fucked before- it was a sex pollen thing.”
Huh?
“Oh, Shang Qinghua is cute when he’s scared-“
Huh!? Then Bingmei is like- then get with those guys and stop bothering me and Shizun! >:(
“You’re pretty cute too.”
Bingmei:…🤬😡😖😳!?!?

Chapter 7: Too Calm...

So what can go wrong for this Skinner mission at Jinlan city?

Chapter Text

A/N: I am speedrunning this fic- at least it always feels as if I’m re-writing the first/second book of scum villain but forgetting that the third one exists and what happens there.

So here I am re-reading the third book for ideas, just to realise by actively stopping Gongyi Xiao from dying and other stuff in this chapter I had just removed a domino and wondering why nothing is falling so I’m gonna have to rewrite stuff Ah.

A/N: Yeah sorry guys I got the flu/ I have a deadline in June for a Charity illustration project and theres nothing better than showing my illustrations and the teacher going.

“Thats good, keep experimenting!” better say better not quit my day job -_- [I love her we vibe, but god that was brutal XD]

So yeah here’s the next chapter and afterall it was around here that I HAVE no notes on what I’m going to do- if anything I don’t want to rewrite scum villain I want Mushroom Yuan to be a badass, thriving and maybe even end up saving the Binghes instead 😀

Luo Binghe was in bliss.

He noticed how much brighter Shen Yuan became, and more relaxed. Of course that could be because they had three comfortable [stress filled] years in his younger self- training montage? Shang Shishu called it?

Shen Yuan hit Qinghua with a fan when he said that so maybe that wasn’t accurate.

Even so, Luo Binghe ended up taking over Ming Fans duties. He was living with Shen Yuan so it was just easier, plus purposefully taking over his tasks and seeing Ming Fan glower up at him was sweet revenge.

Binghe already got that out his system, but putting Ming Fan in his place and getting under his skin made him feel better.

It was just easier to send correspondence, he was bored easily. One moment he’s ruling the three realms buried in paperwork and now even after he cleaned the bamboo house top to bottom, he pouted waiting for Shen Yuan to finish his Peak lord duties.

After cuddling Shen Yuan close and had the other sit in his lap while he worked,

“Binghe this isn’t uncomfortable?” Shen Yuan fretted adjusting a little and Luo Binghe beamed. Using ALL his self control to not act or even twitch and make Shen yuan uncomfortable.

“Of course not, Shizun. I can sit here all day.” He wrapped his arms around the other's waist and pressed his head into the crook of the other's shoulder.

But it didn’t take long for Binghe to sit opposite his Shizun and help him with his paperwork, and when Shen Yuan suddenly found himself with tons of free time did Luo Binghe strike, dragging him down to the village at the bottom and go sightseeing.

He helped Shen Yuan with missions too, Shen Yuan began to enjoy himself the more he left the peak, maybe he wasn’t reminded of that burial mound when he was away. Even the disciples pushed him off the mountain with Binghe seeing the big change.

Even Ming fan begrudgingly told Luo Binghe to look after their Shizun.

Luo Binghe nodded and stuck to his duties diligently.

Even now, reading over their brief of the mission Luo Binghe hummed, this sounded familiar…he was stumped.

He couldn’t tell if this was something HE did to someone or if it was a wife plot, even so it was better to be prepared. He cooked snacks, organised their supplies and made sure Shen Yuan was comfortable for their trip to Jinlan City.

Luo Binghe honestly couldn’t understand the man, he was honestly fascinating.

From the world Shen Yuan described, he lived in a world with no cultivation, no demons, or other types of monsters. The thought of going to a plague infested city that has most cultivators stumped would make someone feel a little bit of fear?

If anything it was Luo Binghe fretting and trying to hold his Shizun back!

He was so excited to learn what this new creature could be! Like a murder mystery!

And so Luo Binghe accompanied him, like all his other missions.

They flew on their swords towards the city, although Luo Binghe pouted and told his Shen Yuan he didn’t have a sword, can he fly with him?

Shen Yuan was this close to telling him to take a hike and make Liu Qingge take him.

…But he caved to the puppy dog eyes.

And Liu Qingge kept bitching and making it known how much he didn’t like Luo Binghe, calling him shameless.

His Shishu was always grouchy, nothing at all like Mu Qingfang and how elegant he looked acting above it all.

Luo Binghe held Shen Yuan close but his eyes were on Liu Qingge and he grinned, the same smile he used on his victims before he gutted them, making the other look unnerved.

His Shishu could never get over the humiliation from their joined succubis mission, Luo Binghe stilled laughed over the time Liu-Shishu was affected with the pollen.

But then he dared drag Shen Yuan into the pool. Luo Binghe was still peeved but it let him drape his outer robe along Shen Yuans shoulders and he beamed when the other obviously understood that his wives wore the outer layer.

He even teased Shen Yuan that they never actually did any activities earning him that outer robe, he stroked the others cheek.

 “Should we fix that, Shizun?”

Shen Yuan smacked him with his fan, drawing the robe closer and Binghe laughed, backing away.

Even so, after landing on the outskirts of Jinlan city, something was bothering Luo Binghe.

Something about this place was really familiar but he couldn’t recall why .

It was important.

“Shizun, we should be on guard.”

“Hmm.” Shen Yuan agreed and they walked into the tunnel leading into the city.

After being verbally abused by a child, and then finding lodging in an inn. Luo Binghe cleared the room, making sure it was safe, then cleaned the linens.

“Binghe, you don’t have to clean every inn we go into.” Shen Yuan huffed with a smile.

“Shizun, if we had a blue light to expose all the germs on these sheets-”

“Okay, geez. I blame Qinghua for telling you that now I can never go to another Inn without freaking out.”

Luo Binghe laughed then began to redress the covers with their own sheets.

He may have ‘ocd’ as Shen Yuan said, but as long as his Shizun wouldn’t get sick.

And when they woke up together in the morning, ready to face the city and investigate, Shen Yuan did the most wonderful thing.

Maybe it was the sleep, maybe it was waking up to Binghe and seeing the other wake up, but Shen Yuan leaned close and kissed his cheek. Then his face flushed when he saw Luo Binghe look up at him in wonder.

He must of thought Binghe was still asleep!

“Shen Yuan!”

“Don’t look at me!” Shen Yuan grabbed the blanket and hid under and Luo Binghe felt his face split into a grin.

“Hmm, Shizun is still tired this Disciple will go and prepare breakfast, hmm?”

Shen Yuan mumbled something but it was fine.

 Shen Yuan initiated!

And that was their downfall.

In just one moment it was all ripped away. It was as if they were caught with their trousers around their legs- well Luo Binghe has usually been caught like that before and nine times out of ten usually someone joins in- or the one time where he hastily grabs Xin Mo to defend himself.

All this time, he has been glued to Shen Yuans side, going slow with their planning, their courting- because he thought-

He thought they had time !

Why did he think the system would let them have five comfortable years to plan and have Luo Binghe pull out all the stops to marry Shen Yuan and plan their honeymoon- he was so distracted!

He took this mission too lightly, they both concluded it may be sowers, or other demons infecting potential people to eat, or for the demons of the south who feasted on rotted human flesh.

All it took was one kiss! And Shen Yuans face-

You couldn’t even call it a kiss, just the press of skin against skin their lips didn’t even touch!

He wished he did more, drag Shen Yuan back into bed and kept him there.

But that morning as they both separated, the four of them decided to meet back at the inn with their findings, and Luo Binghe figured as long as he was there he could mitigate any plot and give Shen Yuan time.

With another two years to go, with Luo Binghe in the abyss they should be fine…

When he finally ran through the alleyway, panting harshly and came across the scene, hoping against hope he was wrong. He saw the other younger weaker version of himself…cradling Shen Qingqiu in his arms.

Dead.

Luo Binghe froze eyes wide, to see Shen Yuan held tenderly in the other's arms, he- he was just with him that morning! Shen Yuan kissed him just that morning!

Shen Yuan was alive just a moment ago and-

“You…y-you-” Luo Bingge spoke, voice dripping with despair and gaining in volume in a rage. He stalked forward, ripping off his mask.

His younger self gazed up, still in shock, his black eyes shining in tears and then looked more surprised to see himself standing before him.

“Do you know what you’ve done!? You impertinent brat! Do you realise how lucky you were to have a kind Shizun and you killed him- you murderer!”

If Shen Yuan were alive he would be naming all kettles and pots black.

The other Luo Binghe gaped, eyes wide as the elder approached.

Had Binghe gone mad? Has he finally lost his mind after the abyss?

Luo Bingge grabbed the front of the others robes and pulled him forward, “He mourned you! He was going to jump into the abyss for you, if it would not have killed him, now he died in vain!”

Luo Bingmei shook his head, tears staining his face. “I just,” He dropped his informal speech, choked up on tears, “I just wanted to know why- why he would throw me away.”

Luo Bingge felt his own eyes burn, the closer he looked at this pitiful version of himself and Shen Yuans limp body.

 It was too much.

He let go with a huff, watching the other crumble but still have the strength to hold Shen Yuan tenderly.

“He didn’t want to. He was cursed to do it- he couldn't speak of it which was why this Lord is here ! If you weren’t so impatient none of this would’ve happened!”

The other almost looked ready to argue, until there was a commotion. Luo Bingge scowled, readjusting his mask, “Move- take him to the Northern Palace. The cold will preserve him better.”

“What- why?”

“We’re going to bring him back.”

________________________________________________________________

Luo Bingge carried Shen Qingqiu tenderly, while the younger opened the portal, the Bai Zhan War god along with the entire Huan Hua and cultivation world witnessed it.

This was going to be a headache he couldn’t believe his younger self would blunder the whole thing up so easily.

As soon as they stepped into the palace, Luo Bingge the elder of the two, barked out orders left easily falling back into the familiar routine of running an empire.

After a cold room was prepared, did Luo Bingge place down Shen Yuan gently onto a cold slab of a bed. And began placing tailsmans around the body to deter possession.

There was a chance Shen Yuans mushroom body was created just in time and activated, until then Luo Bingge had to watch over his body AND explain to the younger Binghe what was going on.

He’ll have to wait for Shen Yuan to contact him when he woke up until then…Luo Binghe took a step back then glanced at the younger and sighed.

“You know how to preserve his body and halt liver motis?”

The other nodded and Luo Bingge stepped aside and gestured.

“Never skip a day or it’ll ruin all your hard work-”

“This Lord knows what he’s going.”

Oh touchy.

Luo Bingge left the youngest to it, and began to deal with the servants who were nosing around.

Ugh, and here he thought he was going to retire!

It was reckless, letting someone order around his subordinates. He was able to gather information on what his younger self had been doing.

And he left the abyss two years early…

Luo Bingge was not upset at all, nope didn’t bother him.

…he was more forgiving on why his younger selfs actions, he didn’t have the patience to think or plan revenge. Because there was no revenge to plan.

He will admit to being…impressed that the youngest was quick to return, while it took him five years.

But then Bingmei kept surprising him! The Luo Binghe of this world was NOT married to Sha Hualing!?

Nor Liu Mingyan which- of course her brother is alive and whole what point was there aligning with Binghe?

As the days passed and he watched how the youngest looked so utterly heartbroken and took care of his Shizun?

The elder wasn’t surprised, he sighed when he realised why Luo Binghe did what he did.

…This was going to put a wrench in things.

When Luo Binghe came to this world to help Shen Yuan grieve over his disciple, he found himself going over old habits.

Now he was helping the younger grieve, the other of course didn’t want his help. He was prickly, quick to anger and the two ended up brawling.

The staff realised quickly that this stranger could keep up with their Junshang and soon began to respect him more.

Even so, he forced the other to sleep by knocking him out, forcing him to eat. And even kicking him out the palace to kill something and when Luo Bingmei returned more irritated that he did feel better Luo Bingge smirked and continued on with his duties.

He took over the court since Luo Bingmei didn’t care.

It irritated him to death, to think that he conquered and became the new emperor just to abandon it and focus on his Shizun.

His youngest self was living his dream! Why was he acting like the Emperor with the younger one cuddling with his Shizun!

This wasn’t fair.

He sighed as he made his way back to the heavily guarded room, and as he opened the door he saw the younger growl, clutching Shen Yuan’s naked body close like a starving dog with his food.

It wasn’t strange, Luo Binghe needed skin to skin to pass Qi.

But to anybody else this would look strange and wrong.

Luo Bingge sneered, “If this Lord was going to take him, I would’ve done so by now.”

The youngest placed Shen Yuan down gently and re-wrapped his clothes.

“If you were here to help- where were you? Why was Shizun alone?”

Binge grit his teeth, what was with that tone?

“It was not by choice, both of us had to split up to cover more ground and this Lord was looking after a potential ally.”

That was Gongyi Xiao, after the young man helped them escape the water prison, Luo Binghe was in a panic and needed Shen Yuan out of there now!

Gongyi Xiao understood and even believed that Master Shen was innocent and led Luo Binghe into the cell and helped him escape, it was a debt he had to repay.

Suddenly Luo Binghe sensed killing intent and told Shen Yuan to run, assuming it was him it was after.

It wasn’t until he saw Shen Yuan escape and stayed behind with Gongyi Xiao to defeat this new threat he saw that it was attacking the young disciple instead!

A large snake lunged forward and Luo Binghe intervened, halting it in its tracks. It was strong, and Luo Binghe was worried.

The only reason both he and Gongyi Xiao were able to escape was because the snake realised it was out matched and ran.

Luo Binghe waited until Gongyi Xiao reunited with his sect safe and sound before running to find Shen Yuan.

Shen Yuan always stated how much he adored Gongyi Xiao, along with Yue QIngyuan.

Luo Binghe would’ve been jealous if it wasn’t for Shen Yuan clarifying he appreciated the two like brothers.

If Gongyi Xiao died, Shen Yuan would’ve been heartbroken!

And there was something about that snake, it was suspicious.

“What are your plans?” He asked at last, Bingmei’s actions were strange at least.

If it was truly that Luo Binghe’s emotions were more…romantic? Then why was Shen Yuan shit terrified?

Luo Bingge face gave away his opinions and the youngest bristled, what on earth did Bingmei DO that made Shen Yuan certain he was definitely here for revenge and nothing else?

And when he felt the blood parasites in the body?

Luo Bingge had to sigh scrubbing his face, obviously Shen Yuan didn’t consent to that.

Even so, Luo Bingge felt bitter that it was not something he could entirely blame, he himself never took no nor cared how his actions portrayed him. When Shang Qinghua straight up called him a rapist, Shen Yuan defended him but-

When he thought of treating Shen Yuan the same way as his wife, Luo Binghe found himself realising he was the problem.

Shang Qinghua was scarce after that. Luo Binghe was beside himself telling Shen Yuan over and over that if he ever acted like that never put up with it!

And with that in mind he needed to get a read on his younger self. Even though they were the same person their past did shape them up differently.

He was under the assumption the younger wanted his Shizun dead.

“Don’t you want revenge on your Shizun for what he had done to you?”

Bingmei sneered, “You as well? It’s so easy to assume I would be a mindless beast when this Lord has done nothing to earn it-”

“Speak plainly, brat!” Luo Bingge snapped, having enough of the temper tantrum.

He couldn’t even fully relax knowing about the plant body because- what if it didn’t work? With no way to find the body how could he check if Shen Yuan was alive and nothing had gone wrong?

“What are your intentions with Shen Qingqiu?”

Luo Bingge asked, it’s better to know for sure so when Shen Yuan returns nothing else will go wrong.

 Bingmei laughed, derisive and cold.

“What are my intentions? What do you think- aren’t you me? Shouldn’t you know?”

Luo Bingge counted to ten. Don’t kill his younger self, Shen Yuan would be upset.

He took a breath then opened his eyes and gazed down at Luo Bingmei.

“In my world I orchestrated the Shen Qingqius trial and when he was in my grasp, this Lord ripped of his legs and sent them to Yue Qingyuan. The man perished from a thousand arrows and Cang Qiong was burned to the ground. And my Shizun? I kept removing piece by piece until there was nothing left to remove. He died choking on the sword of Xuan Shu. So tell me, is that what you had in mind for Shen Qingqiu?”

The youngest looked horrified, almost cuddling Shen Yuans body close (It’s not a teddy bear!)

“Y-you, why would you- He’s our Shizun!” He yelled enraged, and Luo Bingge scoffed.

“He’s your Shizun. His name is Shen Yuan,” He nodded at the man on the table.

“He was kind to you, devoted. You lived with him in his bamboo house, correct?”

“Yes?”

“My Shizun was called Shen Jiu, he…” Luo Binghes brow furrowed, then he sighed, “Do you recall the time your Shizun changed? You realised he was actually looking out for you but deep down you’re afraid of doing something wrong and have him return to that cruelty?”

Luo Bingmei glanced down at Shen Yuan, he must have realised it.

“The qi deviation.”

“Never thought to question the sudden change? Some people thought he was possessed-”

“They checked,” Bingmei spoke suspicion in his voice almost denying it and thinking he caught the lie in what Bingge was telling him.

“How could you possess a body that easily gave itself up? Shen Jiu died, there was no soul to return to the body after that.”

Binge crossed his arms, “Have you gotten over your tantrum? Do you realise why your Shizun was so afraid? He knew of his demise by our hands and when he was with you you never showed him otherwise. Forcing your blood parasites into him?”

Now Bingmei looked ashamed, “He set out to change everything, he never wanted to throw you into the abyss, it tormented him for months. He was losing his soul on that mountain knowing you were down there, alone.”

Luo Bingmei was crying, but the oldest didn’t let up.

“And you wonder why he was afraid when you never gave him the chance to prove otherwise, by being at Huan hua, by orchestrating the trial-”

“I didn’t! This Binghe never was a part of that trial! This one had no knowledge of those skinner demons this one- I wanted to make Shizun proud. Be a strong and powerful cultivator and prove I was worthy and could make it on my own that he didn’t fail as a Shizun! And this one tried to ask him why he would throw me away but he said nothing but accuse me and-”

“He couldn’t speak of it because he was cursed. But he regretted it. Every damn day did he regret throwing you down there without an explanation.”

Luo Bingmei covered his face and heaved almost falling to the floor, Luo Bingge watched him, unsure on what to do.

When he reached over his hand touching the youngest the other flinched and he drew back.

He decided to leave him alone. To take a second to process truly what it was he had done.

Notes:

So Bingmei's here! but now it's Shen Yuan whose gone :^; meanwhile Bingge finds himself doing the same thing with the younger, picking up the pieces.
Also in other fictions I had realised that I wrote Binghe being a dick and Shen Yuan being all not bothered then remembered he's an independent bitch who don't need no man. And was all for being prickly and holding Binghe accountable in the fake bamboo house in Binghe's realm.
So I need to write something where it's the BINGHE'S in trouble and its Shen Yuan who saves THEM it'd be super funny. And Bingmei is all for being the wife in distress but it's not something Bingge is used to lmao.

Chapter 8: Just keep going...

Summary:

Do I have writers block? No...yes?
Reminder this IS A Binghe/Binghe fiction. So yeah, but nothing gets TOO graphic just allude to it.
So Luo Bingge and Luo Bingmei have to learn to live together.
But yeah this may suck but these stories are going on a hiatus. I was supposed to work on an original story and have done nothing yet and since I can't think of how to continue this its best to end it here.
So happy new year everyone and hope you enjoyed the scum villain stories :D

Chapter Text

Luo Bingge knew Shen Yuan's soul wouldn’t come back to this body. Not in the conventional way, it was their fail safe in case the younger Luo Binghe wanted to return the soul to torture him for good.

But this Luo Bingge had the thought, what if it was Shen Jiu’s soul that had returned instead of Shen Yuan?

He would have to deal with it, when the time comes. His younger self will be too heartbroken and soft to handle that viper if he ever returned.

Instead of telling the Luo Binghe of this world his thoughts, his worries, the truth.

He held back.

To help Shen Yuan buy some time.

Bingmei may not want his Shizun dead or tortured but it was still too soon to know what his intentions truly were.

Just because he may have some designs on their Shizun didn't mean he was safe to be around.

His spiritual and demonic energy was out of balance, along with Xin Mo whispering poison in his ears.

It was strange seeing it from the outside…

And he hadn’t duel cultivated. Not once.

It was beginning to drive Bingge insane that the other was purposely harming himself.

Luo Bingmei had not mastered Xin Mo. And so hopefully in the next few years they’ll both be able to temper such a blade and be safe.

Or have it destroyed. Between two heavenly demons it should be possible.

What good even was Xin Mo?

Transportation? Mobei-jun can do that. A well structured talisman can do that!

Power? He’s already a powerful demon?

Even so, if Bingmei wasn't going to do something about it he will!

But of course he must of been badgering Bingmei too much or scowling whenever the other would look tired.

And the youngest surprised him yet again.

Instead of falling into bed with Sha Hualing or even Mobei-Jun no matter hard Bingge tried to strategically place them in the others Path-!

Bingmei avoided them.

The younger truly did not care for anyone but his Shizun.

Bingge’s smile faded, was he same? Even with a harem, being loved and adored it mattered not all he cared about was making Shen Qingqiu apologise or see what he had wrought.

All he got was the man's mad laughter.

Ah what a mess.

“Call for Mobei-Jun.” Luo Bingge requested, and even with this the younger eyes squinted suspiciously.

 “Why?”

“You have lost face, you exposed yourself as a demon to the cultivation world and lack any human allies, and instead of burning any more bridges and making things more difficult for yourself and Shen Qingqiu-” His voice rose in volume when it looked like the younger was going to interrupt with another ‘I don’t care’

Luo Bingge can’t recall the last time he had to raise his voice before,

“We’re going to calm down and organise and make a plan. As something tells me you don’t have one.”

The youngest Binghe’s face darkened, “Do you want a fight?”

“At this moment, no. But maybe later when I’m in the mood,” Luo Binghe teased as he moved forward and patted the others cheek condescendingly.

And once Luo Bingmei reluctantly called for Mobei-Jun and sent him off his task did he turn to the elder Bingge.

 “Do you have a plan?”

“Yes,” He spoke arms crossed with a smirk on his lips as he gazed up at the youngest (He was not upset that he was shorter due to lack of food as a kid he was not angry)

“We lay low, don’t draw attention to ourselves. We use someone else as the figurehead of Huan Hua. They’ll present the front while actually helping us behind the scenes.”

 “And who will that be?”

Mobei-Jun kicked Gongyi Xiao through the portal, falling on his face before.

_______________________________________________________________

Gongyi Xiao was torn, on one hand, he did not like Luo Bingmei given that he was the one who killed Master Shen.
And Gongyi Xiao really liked Shen Qingqiu.

On the other hand, the man who saved his life was also working with Luo Bingmei in bringing Shen Qingqiu back to life, which was a heinous crime but then again…

He also thought that Shen Qingqius fate was unfair, and given that both genuinely wanted what was best and had no ill intentions…

“Master Shen is afraid of Luo Binghe. If Master Shen wants distance from his wayward disciple Luo Binghe will respect it.”

That was his terms in helping them, the youngest looked ready to cry as he nodded.

“Only if Shen Qingqiu wants nothing to do with this disciple.”

Gongyi Xiao agreed, now with the absence of Luo Binghe he was now the head disciple again, but that caused a strain in between the Old Palace Master and Mistress.

Both liked Luo Binghe and seemed to be licking their wounds in private and embarrassed at opening their arms for someone who was ungrateful.

But as Gongyi Xiao was now disillusioned with the Huan Hua palace had decided to investigate why someone would welcome a stranger and be so ready to replace a disciple who had proved his worth time and again, who had given nothing but his loyalty.

To say that Gongyi Xiao was pissed was putting it lightly, so he did some digging to better secure his place at the palace.

If having two heavenly demons as his potential benefactors could work in his favour…

Luo Bingge watched him go with a hum, “To think all this time I should’ve kept young Xiao in my employ, banishing him to some outpost was such a mistake. What a waste of his assets.”

Then again, maybe he was safer in that outpost away from the corruption of the world. It amused Luo Binghe that Gongyi Xiao did nothing and was in fact happy of his life and the world falling into chaos and never thought to fight against Luo Binghe.

Even so, Luo Bingge had regrets and decided to make up for them in this world by saving the young master's life and promised to aid the young master in anything he wanted.

It was strange, Luo Bingge never cared before in his world but maybe…it was Shen Yuans influence.
Shen Yuan liked this world, and the people in it, and strangely it made Luo Bingge want to treasure it and found the beauty in it because of him. He actually made him look and appreciate it all the more.

And knowing how upset Shen Qingqiu would be if anyone was hurt, made Luo Bingge want to try even more to preserve this world for him.

And that included his younger self, if helping Luo Bingmei was something he had to to do to help him and in turn Shen Yuan? Then so be it.

When Gongyi Xiao pulled through now as the new Palace Master and made reports of the world above and how they all ran around like headless chickens by the absence of Shen Qingqiu?

It was definitely necessary to know where everyone was located and in turn how they would respond to the Binghe’s and their plan.

Luo Bingge praised young Xiao and even copied Shen Yuans habit of patting people on the head for a job well done.

Gongyi Xiao was stunned before standing straighter and began to help even more.

Once Gongyi Xiao was escorted back to Huan Hua by a frosty Mobei-Jun, Luo Bingge could feel the others eyes burning a hole through his back.

“Why don’t you marry Gongyi Xiao instead and leave Shen Qingqiu alone.”

Luo Bingge blinked as he gazed by at the other who looked infuriated.

Where did that come from?

Instead he grinned as he leaned towards the youngest and his hand reached up his hand sliding through the others hair before tugging it playfully.

“Jealous, didi? Don’t worry the only person my heart belongs to is Shen Yuan-” The youngest slapped his hand away, lip firming in frustration.

Luo Bingge liked teasing him, but he wondered where that little outburst came from.

He wasn’t flirting with Gongyi Xiao to gain that reaction.

As both of them were so focused on keeping Shen Yuans body alive, and now with access to Huan Hua, the thought of dealing with Xin Mo was last on their minds.

And so when he came across Luo Bingmei in a qi deviation, Luo Bingge realised they had forgotten all about Xin Mo.

To be honest he thought the youngest had it handled! Luo Bingge had sealed his own Xin Mo, but that couldn’t happen here. It was Bingmei’s world and his sword, his palace. His priority came first.
And this Bingge was fine playing second fiddle, his plans were mostly retiring with Shen Yuan and dote on his husband and relax in nature while this Bingmei worked at the palace with a harem!

But now the plans had changed, and Xin Mo wasn’t even mastered!

When Luo Bingge brought this up, the youngest would spit like an angry kitten.

“I’m not Duel Cultivating. I’ll send Sha Hualing to round up criminals.”

Criminals?

“What for, didi?”

“For Human cauldrons.”

Oh… oh! His younger self was a little dark. He glanced down at Shen Yuans prone body, and couldn’t help the smile tugging at his lips.

Did Shen Yuan know his precious white lotus was fully blackened? Or would Shen Yuan not see it?

It was only a short term solution, they needed to fix the body and free it from without a cure until Shen Yuan came back. He wasn’t told where his mushroom body was- but Shen Yuan told him his plan. A letter will be sent to Qing Jing Peak that a pearless cucumber is in the red light district.

That was so he and Shen Yuan could meet up at the district undetected, but it’s been a year now and Luo Bingge was starting to worry…

And now he had to watch this idiot.

The human cauldrons weren’t working as well as they should, but given that Bingmei had no one and was purging his Shizuns meridians of course he needed more…

well if Xin Mo was becoming a problem then it needed to be mastered by Luo Binghe, he had done it once before. He knew since he was the same, maybe Xin Mo wouldn’t be able to tell.

As Luo Bingmei was losing control in the throne room again, and Luo Bingge always noticed a smear of a demon on the floor he knew the demons in their employ exploited weakness.

They would purposefully rile their emperor on purpose and this time it worked, as he watched the youngest fall to a qi deviation and he and Mobei-Jun dismissed the staff or killed the ones who were trying to take advantage did he turn to Bingmei and try to approach the situation delicately.

The human cauldrons were working. But with HIM there something happened to create tension.

Luo Bingge knew because both had protagonist halos and needed to make an intriguing story something would happen sooner or later.

Even so, the youngest couldn’t make this a life long solution, unless he wanted Xin Mo destroyed but it seemed as if the yougest was still depended on it.

Luo Bingge drew closer his eyes looking down at Xin Mo in trepidation.

He thought of Shen Yuan and made the decision.

As Luo Binghe was on his knees, face grimaced in pain. Luo Bingge leaned over his hand laying on top of the others holding the hilt, taking in the excess demonic energy, opening his mind to the madness once again.

“You survived the endless abyss with your bare hands. You don’t need this sword, the sword needs you .”

He spoke out loud to himself, as he took in the anger, the pain and lust of Xin Mo it was overwhelming every demonic entity amalgamated in this sword and they would be the tempest.

But it seemed that Bingmei heard and felt as if the older one was speaking with him.

With both sharing the burden, their energies balanced and for once the youngest could think clearly, he slumped into the other's arms, sweat on his brow as Xin Mo pulsed weakly in both their hands. He turned to see the others smirk before he gave him a playful shove.

 “Now that's more like it.”

___________________________________________________________________

With three years passed, he could start to feel the mental toll of Xin Mo, being free of it now suddenly being consumed again was becoming more difficult to get through the years.

Shen Yuan would probably be disappointed in his relapse. Of course Luo Bingge had his own share of complaints, when Shen Yuan failed to mention his without a cure and kept it hidden from the one person who could fix it.

He closed his eyes, even though both have spoken about it, Luo Binghe found he was thinking in circles that Shen Yuan hid something from him so it was all fair.
Speaking with Gongyi Xiao helped rationalise these thoughts and keep him centred. Shen Yuan was used to keeping secrets, but even so it was never anything harmful or malicious, when Shen Yuan came back this Bingge will have to tell him about Xin Mo.

At least it wasn’t all bad, the burden was shared, or maybe it’s because he spent years with Xin Mo it wasn’t as bad.

Or maybe a small part of him was terrified of falling into bad habits again and he was probably making a bigger deal out of it than usual.

Luo Bingge could already feel the strain of Xin Mo, the paranoia, the sudden urge to kill Gongyi Xiao and take back his throne at Huan hua, and yet-

In all his mad thoughts he never once thought to destroy Luo Bingmei and take Shen Yuans body for himself.

Instead he found himself seeking out the others' company only to remind himself he wasn’t the lonely emperor back in his own world surrounded by many, yet always alone.

When he came back to the cold chamber and saw the same scene of Luo Bingmei holding his Shizun in a warm embrace, skin to skin.

Nothing too strange just casually passing Qi easily and platonically, but if anybody else were to see such a scene they would jump to conclusions.

Luo Bingge leaned against the bed and gazed down at the two, arms crossed.

“You know, there is a cure for without a cure.” He spoke, gaining the youngers attention.

Luo Binghe looked up shocked to see the others face then it darkened at the answer.

“Dual Cultivating with a heavenly demon should do the trick.”

“You’re sick.”

“No it’s true-I’m not lying. And Shen Yuan knew it too.”

The youngest tensed and sensing blood in the water Luo Bingge decided to poke him more, “Hmm? What’s this? What are you thinking?”

“Nothing you pervert. He just knew the thousand snow lead lotus was useless…”

“You are clinging to a naked Peak Lord and yet you’re calling me the pervert?”

Now the youngest frowned, and Bingge had no idea what he could be thinking, “What is it?”

“If he knew what the cure was and both of you were…why…why hasn’t he?”

“Why is Shizun not cured? Hmm that’s a bit difficult to explain.” Luo Bingge spoke as he gazed down at the two then huffed as he moved to help the youngest dress Shen Yuans body and fold the robes to hide untouched milky skin.

“Shen Yuan has never been pursued before, never thought anyone would look at him that way, or the effect he had on people.” Luo Bingge brushed Shen Yuans hair from his face as Luo Bingmei laid him down onto the bed.

“He was only indulging this lord, both of us had decided to try courting and if Shen Yuan felt uncomfortable at all, or wanted to stop and let us remain friends instead…years passed and Shen Yuan began to grow comfortable, enough to initiate touch to hold my hand…he even kissed him that morning.”

He could feel the others eyes burn in the back of his head so he turned to give him a smirk, “You could barely call it a kiss, but from Shen Yuan, it was perfect…” He touched the corner of his lips and sighed.

“It was the last touch this one had…but what this Lord is trying to tell you. Is that this,” he gestured to the man on the bed “Is a direct result of what happens when you try to take what you want, good things come to those who wait.”

They can’t help what they are, both are beasts with sharp claws, what fragile rabbit would gladly sniff at the paw that had blindly grabbed them once before with their heartbeat thumping in their chest at the obvious danger?

Shen Yuan was like a rabbit, scared as he should be but still brave to venture out there. And a runner too.

“When Shen Yuan comes back, he’ll be afraid of you. So don’t give him more reason too.” The youngest nodded.

 “Whats the point,”

“Hmm?”

“He has you, even though he was my Shizun first, he went to you instead the one he should be afraid off-”

“What are you muttering about? Shen Yuan loves you too. If he knew you meant no harm he would have welcomed you with open arms.”

“What?”

Luo Bingge stared at the others face and nodded “hmm.”

Both glanced back at Shen Yuan, their breaths misting the air.

“This lord doesn’t mind sharing, he wouldn’t want us to fight.”

And since both were the protagonists…would that destroy the world who would win? The original? Or the world the Binghe was born into?

He left the youngest alone to think on what he said, maybe he should talk more about Shen Yuan, and how he was raised to think that two men being together was a sin so he needed more time to be open to the idea-

Until he saw Shang Qinghua power walking around the corner, hands full of scrolls.

His eyes narrowed, Luo Bingge began his hunt as he intercepted the hamster and slammed his hand against the wall making the other yelp dropping his scrolls and Luo Bingge pressed closer eyes narrowed “Hello Shang-Shifu,”

“B-B-Binghe!” The other stuttered smiling nervously, “What can I d-do to help?”

Luo Binghes hand cracked the wall and he delighted in the others flinch, “Shen Yuan was supposed to go into the mushroom body, hmm. So where is he?”

Shang QInghua blanched looking more pale, that wasn’t a good sign.

“P-please Junshang,” really bad if he was calling him Junshang .

“Cucumber bro sent me to make the body ready and to do anything so I used fertiliser to speed up the process and umm, I don’t know?”

Luo Binghe tensed as the other kept rambling,

“This Qinghua guesses that an additional five years was added instead maybe, especially since Shen Qingqiu destructed in such a violent way…”

Luo Binghe shut his eyes-

“Junshang this one is sorry he didn’t mean to make you upset-”

“Are you saying that… Shen Qingqiu could be in a coma for all we know?”

Shang QInghua was visibly shaking but nodded “Y-yes, the fertiliser used to speed up the process for Shen QIngqiu may have done something but- he needed his plant body he thought he was going to die!”

Luo Bingge didn’t need a reminder of his failure.

When Shen Qingqiu was brought to trial, Bingge sought out Gongyi Xiao to sort it out before the youngest turned his Shen Yuan into a human stick-

If Shen Yuan stayed in the water prison any longer…except once Shen Yuan was free, reunited with Luo Bingge and Gongyi Xiao, the ex-demon lord tensed as he sensed killing intent, he assumed it was Luo Bingmei, so he instructed Shen Yuan should escape while he handled it and was caught of guard when it was revealed to being a large snake and instead it was aiming it’s ire at Gongyi Xiao!

Luo Bingge grappled with the snake barely defeating it- it was strong!

It was attempting to kill Gongyi Xiao but if he wasn’t there the two would not have been able to defeat this strange foe alone.

At the time it was concerning that something was strong enough for him , but Gongyi Xiao was alive, he was an important ally and the man seemed grateful.

Until a sudden pulse of energy almost shook the heavens, both he and Gongyi Xiao made it out of Huan Hua and ran into the town that was creating such a stir. Gongyi Xiao branched off to join his fellow disciples but Bingge began to panic.

The one time he was separated from Shen Yuan…

As his Shizun would say “Thats going to give me a complex, just add it onto the pile of trauma.”

Why didn’t he tell him where he planted his body-?

What if Shen Yuan was buried alive and had to crawl his way out from the dirt, cracking and breaking his nails bloody, ripping from the panic unable to breath-

He was spiralling and Shang Qinghua wasn’t helping, trembling in fear.

It was the rats fault for trying to jumpstart his body. The man could feel the killing intent as Luo Bingges red eyes glared down at him, his voice low and gravely.

“You knew Luo Binghe had returned and defeated Mobei-Jun, why didn’t you say anything?”

Instead of ducking his head and begging for forgiveness, this Bingge was begging for any excuse to beat- hurt something!

Instead Shang Qinghua scoffed, it was startling enough to see from the usually timid man it actually calmed Bingge down.

“The system wouldn’t let me! This one has missions and has to complete them or this one will die! The system is world building and filling in plot holes and character developments, this is probably a wife plot for Bingmei but there's you as well! You are still a protagonist and a Binghe never had a wife that he didn’t have to fight for.”

Luo Binghe scowled, Qinghua had a point. Shen Yuan should now be categorised as a wife.

A heavenly tribulation for the two. And it’s twice as bad.

But it gave Bingge hope, a wife never stayed dead for long.

Even so, it was coming up to their fourth year, and he was beginning to feel desperate. He kept checking in on the brothel women and asking if they have any news, but they had no messages to give him. So distracted was he, he didn’t notice his own shadow…

The younger Bingmei felt his lip curl to see the older Bingge visit brothels and indulge in their service while claiming he loved his Shizun!

He also saw him cornering that rat Qinghua, he didn’t hear what they said but he saw how he pushed the other against the wall.

He was a liar!

Luo Bingmei scowled, turning around and leaving the other alone, frustrated. He was so angry and with Xin Mo wasn’t helping- it became even worse- how dare he betray Shizun like that!?

Even though he should be happy, at least it showed that Bingmei was more devoted that he was a better choice- but a small part of Bingmei refuses to acknowledge, was also frustrated.

Bingmei was here wasn’t he? So why?

WHY would he look at other people when Bingmei was right here?

He’s never felt so alone, first his Shizun would rather die han have anything to do with his disciple, and now his own self hates him.

Other than his mother, Luo Binghe curled into himself the backlash of Xin Mo over clouding him like a incoming storm. He fell to his knees clutching the sword to his chest and for a moment- He felt like giving in, maybe Shizun would be happier with another version of himself even if he was a cheater, and fickle and kept looking at others…

Suddenly a hand grabbed his and he opened his eyes to see the panicked and enraged face similar to his own.

“What happened!?” The eldest growled, Luo Bingge took the sword throwing it away but that wouldn’t do, it was still connected to them both.

Luo Bingge was cupping his cheeks, tilting his face up.

“Binghe, whats wrong?”

The care and way his eyes looked tense as they flicked over him, looking for an injury.

It hurt- because Luo Bingmei felt as if he didn’t deserve it.

Luo Bingmei’s eyes filled up as he clutched the others hands and pulled him close practically dragging him in closer as whimpers spilled from his mouth.

Binge stiffened arms wrapping around the other unsure and awkward, they twitched then slowly rubbed up and down the others back.

“I’m here, I’m not going anywhere.” he soothed, he tried to think of what Shen Yuan would do, how he would comfort him…

It made the youngest cry even more.

It was shameful, before, Luo Bingge would tell him to stop blubbering like a baby to deal with it.

 But after seeing how Shen Yuan cared for the younger disciples, how he interacted and treated them with a soft hand. How he even patted Bingge on the head and told him;

 “Shizun won’t hurt you anymore.”

So telling the younger to just deal with it and stop crying? Would not only be detrimental it may even make it worse.

Both of them had scars but how they attained them was different so how they both responded to certain things would be different too.

Luo Bingge’s fear of not being strong enough to protect those closest to him.

And the youngest had abandonment issues, he was scared of Bingge leaving him?

It made his own chest tighten knowing that someone needed him just as much, it could be because Shen Yuan wasn’t here and both were filling the void-

He hoped that wasn’t true, that he wasn’t just filling a space, he genuinely enjoyed spending time with his youngest self.

The two couldn’t be any more different.

“Now tell Gege what is the matter.” Luo Bingmei felt his face burn, beyond mortification.

 “It’s stupid.”

“Probably, tell me anyway.”

Luo Bingmei wiped his eyes, looking straight up at the eldest, “You can’t flirt with other people.”

“Huh?”

“You claim to love Shizun, yet you flirt with anything with legs.”

Luo Bingge scowled, “This Lord has no recollection of flirting with anyone.”

“Shang Qinghua, Gongyi Xiao and all those women at the brothel!” Luo Bingmei snapped, face flushed red.

Luo Bingge couldn’t help but feel like laughing at such a cute face glaring at him, a complete opposite of Shen Yuan yet similar!

His Shizun would just pout behind his fan and hope that Bingge could read his mind, meanwhile his youngest self said whatever was on his mind.

“Huh? Are you jealous?” He asked pinching the others cheek, and the other slapped his hand.

“Other than Shizun, you can’t look at anyone that way!”

“What way?” He can’t look at people now?

“You look like you want to sleep with anything that walks!”

Binge pinched the others cheek harder “Hah? I resent that you brat. Apologise.”

“No it’s true-”

“This lord doesn’t go to the brothel to use their service its Shizuns family.”

The youngest blinked eyes spilling past his cheeks, “What?”

“His family, Shizun doesn’t use their service either. The jiejies took care of him.”

The other was silent, his face was flushed red and his eyes was gleaming and seeing his youngest self looking so bullied, something in Luo Bingge burned at the sight.

Or it was probably Xin Mo.

…Even so his Didi was cute.

He stroked the others cheek that he bullied so ruthlessly, the other flinched.

“You know, you still haven't fixed your problem with Xin Mo, and I know Shen Yuan would be so disappointed knowing what you did to people to sate it.”

Luo Bingmei’s lip curled, “Shut up-”

“You already said so right? Other than Shizun I can’t look at anyone…what about you?”

Luo Bingmei stared, not registering before tensing “What?”

“You heard me, we both deal with this problem-”

“I-it’s wrong! We’re like brothers and it would be seen as incest!”

Luo Bingge shrugged, “Not really, we’re the same person so it counts as masturbation instead.”

“You-”

“You cannot last long like this, and you are going to make a mistake and hurt Shizun because of it.”

Luo Bingge took his face in hand as the younger looked away the hand aking him look up at him.

“If Shen Yuan woke up and saw what you were doing to yourself he would be horrified. I’m a heavenly demon I can’t take it-”

“No, I can’t-”

“Why not?”

Luo Bingmei pressed his lips together, he obviously likes Bingge it was obvious the way he watched Luo Binge. He knew when someone wanted him he saw the signs so what was it?

“...I want Shizun to be my first.”

Oh.

“Well, thats an easy fix. Your Shizun and I were courting-”

His younger self looked ready to kill him.

“But Shen Yuan is Shy, he’s never thought of us that way before, we have not even shared a proper kiss yet.”

That settled the other down a little.

“We spoke about it, what he thinks he might like, and he said with certainty with no hint of a discussion that he would never ever be the one on top. He said he was fine being the receiver but he has it in his mind he would always be well, the wife . I have tried to persuade him-” The thought of having Shen Yuan fuck him instead, having that intense look focused on Bingge was only just a fantasy, but his Shizun never felt comfortable with that. And he’s fine with it.

“So that leaves us room to deal with your problem, and sate Xin Mo. But you’ll still have your first with Shen Yuan.”

Luo Bingmei but his lip, so Luo Binghe demonstrated as he moved closer his hand reaching out, “This is spoken for,” Luo Bingmei’s breath hitched as a large pale hand cupped his front and palmed him softly, he felt the other react and his lips pulled into a grin revealing his fangs.

“But this part here is being neglected.” His hand moved and slid down the dip of of his ass his fingers sliding back up and down, Luo Bingmei shivered, feeling himself become light headed.

Luo Bingge pulled the youngest into his lap the other easily moving in place, even shifting and gasped feeling Luo Bingge pressed against his back.

“And that’s enough room for me isn’t it? I can teach you how it should feel to satisfy Shen Yuan, how to make you feel good so he can feel good.”

Luo Bingmei was moving against his hand, face flushed and bullied, and the eldest knew he had him.

 “N-no kissing.”

“Of course.”

Instead Luo Bingge attacked his neck, sucking the skin and pulling off with a pop. His younger self was like putty in his hands.

Luo Binghe had faced many things, many strange adventures in his life, and he always thought if he could fuck his clone (as many of his adventures were strange he figured it wasn’t too strange to think about) that he would.

And now it was time to make it a reality.

Luo Bingge had experience with men before, Movie-Jun was of course someone who frequented his bed when Luo Binghes wives just weren’t doing it. And he went all the way exploring something new with his right hand man.

As demons they liked it rough and fast.

But with his younger self he wanted to take his time, afterall what he did to Bingmei he would then do to Shen Yuan.

Can’t have his didi learn bad habits.

And of course Bingmei shivered, “I-it’s not weird?”

“Of course not, it’s just us, then when we get Shen Yuan back we’ll surprise him with how well we’re getting along, hmm?”

Bingmei was practically nodding drool down his chin.

“Yes, Shizun would- he would keep me if he has to because of you…”

Oh- that wont do.

Binge nipped his cheek then licked the flesh in apology.

“We have to work on that, Shen Yuan loves you. He always made you his priority.”

“R-really?”

“Yes, he said that Xin Mo was yours, the harem was yours-”

“But I don’t want a har-” The youngest almost yelled out.

“Shh, as I was saying he said it was your world, and I was fine playing second fiddle. Pretty sure if you returned to Qing Jing Peak and simply asked to return he would’ve said yes and welcomed you with open arms.”

Bingmei hiccuped as almost cowared, making himself smaller.

“I made a mess of things-”

“Yes, so we have to work on how to make up for Shizun in our own way.” It probably wasn’t healthy to have sex as a coping mechanism.

But until Shen Yuan comes back, it would have to do.

….Seriously Luo Bingmei was his shadow at the brothels!? The eldest scowled as he rolled over in bed, I should’ve sensed him! Is THIS why Shen Yuan gets so annoyed at plot armour!?!?

Peerless Cucumber, Shen Yuan, Shen Qingqiu, Shen Jiu…Just a name.

So the man who stayed hidden in the southern demon realm, watched as the demon with his general discuss his plans for the Cultivation world.

This is bad- really, really bad! It was a full five years since his death , and he did plan on messaging Bingge but but-

He saw this suspicious looking snake, and said snake tried to kidnap him and one thing led to another and now…

…It appeared as if he fell onto a plot device. But it was fine! Shen Yuan can go and tell Bingge about this new foe.

The system was adamant he was here to progress the plot, and if in the five year absence maybe Bingge helped out the youngest. Shen Yuan wanted to go home, he didn’t want to be here on reconnaissance; this sucked!

[Exposition acquired! Now to report back to the human realm!]

Thank the freakin cosmos, now all he had to do was-

“Hmm, Zhuzhi-Lang? Did you bring me what I wanted?”

“Yes Junshang.”

Hmm? What now-ack!

Shen Yuan stiffened mouth falling open in shock, no- no way-!

“Hmm, Nephew was there any need to bring these two?”

“Ah Junshang well, you needed Xin Mo and this one…was unsure which one…had it.”

The man laughed whole and hearty, “Oh my poor nephew now lets see hmm,” Even the man began to stare looking unsure.

 “Hmm, maybe it is both.”

He reached for the sword, and just…took it.

And the men who were tied up in immortal binding cables and additional seals for the demonic aspect.

But this…this was just too tragic-

Both Binghes looked like the bullied damsel in distress. It was so wrong, just so-so wrong!

Luo Bingge scowled, “You will regret humiliating this Lord.” The man leaned back resting one hand on his cheek.

“Don’t make it so easy then.”

How dare you bully Luo Bingge- whoever you are!

Even so, if someone can take down two heavenly demons then they're obviously strong…but neither of them knew he was here. They were so focused on the Binghe’s!

Aw and Luo Bingmei look so cute, it’s been years since Shen Yuan saw him looking that frustrated and since they were both together then that meant the oldest got through to him!

Shen Yuan raised his veil and reached into his sleeves, as long as he was quick and fast if he cut the binding cables then he would gain two Heavenly allies.

They might be able to escape…

Shen Yuan threw a bottle, a mixture he made when he was being pursued by- what was it Zhuzhi-Lang?

It was unfused with the worst of the PIDW pollen and alcohol it won’t take down a heavenly demon but would be enough to blind them.

He moved fast cutting the ropes and pulling the two demons onto his sword they couldn’t rise high but as long as they got away the better.

To think he had to save Luo Binghe, Shen Yuan huffed, shouldn’t he be the one getting saved and relaxed instead of doing all the work jeez!

“Who are you-” The youngest almost knocked them off, “Stop moving, are we being followed?”

The youngest squinted into the distance blinking the pollen out his eyes “N-no.”

“What do you mean no?”

“We’re not being pursued.”

Shen Yuan almost faltered, what? Why not

The eldest sighed, “Because they have what they want. Xin Mo.”

Shit- along with the information Shen Yuan just heard- this is bad.

“Hmm? You look like you know something? Do you know why they needed Xin Mo?” The eldest asked, adjusting his weight on the sword.

“And why are you helping us!?”

The eldest scowled at the younger.

“Umm, l-lets uh find a safe place first, hmm?”

He hated how both were looking at him, one with suspicion the other more teasing.

He hated it.

Notes:

Welp this is the end, no more fanfiction until I'm able to write at least half a novel in the new year at least of my og story. If I had more ideas for these chapters I would end it, but I'm honestly drawing a blank and have no idea how to end this story.
See you guys next year.

The theory that none of Binghe’s wives loved him- is only because he doesn’t love them. He would want someone who looked like his Shizun in his harem when he wanted Shen Qingqiu to come with him to the shitty PIDW, and when SY said statmengs like “binghe and rape are not in the same vocabulary anyone would open their legs to binghe-“ then in the end he’s confirmed a rapist and majority of everything is without consent.
So safe to say that if SY stated that as a fact was proven wrong then when he says with full confidence that Binghe’s wives love him then wouldn’t you also think that was wrong?
So yeah another Binghe/Yuan story idk I just really liked the short in the fourth book when Shen Yuan was pampering the og binghe and had no clue Aha.
