Summary:

Helen finds Kate in a cell.

Notes:

I have moments in my day where I can write, between fares and spinning and watching tv (and the whole parenting thing, can't forget that, or the cat fostering that I started last night - that is an interesting one gotta admit), and this popped out. Think I just wanted some comfort without the stress of writing the trauma. (Also, what a person can imagine is sometimes scarier than what someone else can write so I'm using that today.)

Anyhoo, hope you enjoy. :)

Work Text:

"Is it over? Is it really over?" Kate asked, clawing at Helen's arms to get closer, her eyes darting everywhere. Her voice shook, her hands shook, her whole body shook - hard.

Helen nodded. "Yes, yes it is, Kate." Kate fell forward. Bundling her in her arms, Helen rocked her gently back and forth, stroking her hair as Kate's tears fell fast.

"I-- I thought--" Tears choked away the rest of the sentence. It didn't matter. Helen understood.

"You're safe, dear heart, you’re safe," Helen chanted as Kate sobbed, clinging to her for dear life. They rocked until the tears subsided.
