Loki knows he’s adopted

Summary:

a jotunn named Bestla and his father aesir they had four children Fárbauti, odin, Vili, and ve. Fárbauti was married off to Laufey who already has two sons. Thor loves his aunt and is excited to have a cousin close to his age but war break out and when Fárbauti gives birth to a runt she tries to save her child but is gravely wounded by Laufley on her death Odin promises to take care of her child as his own

Chapter 1: The promise

Odin had just finished the last battle with Jotunheim. He was hoping to find his sister Fárbauti. He hadn't seen her since her husband declared war against Asgard, and he misses her so much, but Thor had missed her more; he adores his aunt, and he is so excited to meet his new cousin, especially since they will be around his age. As he enters the temple that they agreed to meet at, Odin doesn't see her at first, which is not hard because she got their mother's height." Fárbauti? Are you here." Suddenly, Fárbauti appeared; she was always good at magic, but when Odin saw her, he could tell something was wrong, and that was soon confirmed when Fárbauti collapsed." Fárbauti!"
When Odin gets to his sister, he sees two shocking things: first was that Fárbauti was gravity injected, and second was that she had a baby jotunn in her arms that was the size of aesir baby." Brother, this is my son, Loki Laufey. I was not pleased he came out small. Do you know how he put a ruler that any small jotunn born will be killed? I tried to get us both out, but Laufey found us. I will not survive, so please, brother, take Loki and raise him as you own." Tears started falling from Odin's one working eye as he took Loki from his mother's arms. Loki shifted his appearance to look like an aesir baby with pale skin, black hair, and emerald green eyes." I promise, sister." And knowing her son would be safe, Fárbauti took her last breath.

When they got back to Asgard, the first thing Odin did was find Frigga. Luckily, little Loki has slept through the whole trip." Odin, my love, thank the Norns. You came back safely. Is that a baby?" Odin nodded." When I went to the temple to meet Fárbauti, I found her significantly injured, and she didn't survive. This is her son, Loki. I promise her that we will take care of him as if he were our own." The saddest fills Frigga's face. She holds out her arms. Odin carefully passed Loki over to his wife. As soon as Loki is in Frigga's arms, Loki wakes up looking at Frigga and smiles." Your mother loved you, Loki, but she couldn't be here now. but me and Odin are your new parents now, and you even have a big brother now, too." At the  mention of her son, Frigga looks at her husband with despair." How are we going to tell Thor he loved Fárbauti." Odin sighed, not looking forward to this." The truth."

When Thor saw his father, he ran up and hugged him." Father! I'm so happy you saved Aunt Fárbauti!" Odin looks at his son sadly. " I'm afraid aunt Fárbauti has gone to Valhalla. She was gravely injured and didn't survive before she passed. I promise her that we will take care of her son." Frigga steps in, showering him Loki." This is Fárbauti's son. His name is Loki, and he his your new brother." Tears fill Thor's eyes, but he holds it together." Why does he look fantastic, and why is he so small? Isn't he supposed to be mostly jotunn?" Odin spoke up." He is a small jotunn. Both his father thought he was weak because of that and tried to get rid of him, but Fárbauti was able to save him." Thor looks up at his mother." Can I hold him?" Frigga nodded and carefully handed Loki over to Thor. Thor looks at his new brother." Hi Loki, I know you will miss Aunt Fárbauti. I will, too, but mother, father, and I are your family now, and I will protect you, brother."

Chapter 2: Childhood

After the war with Jotunheim, the small jotun helped Asgard win the battle because Laufey enacted a rule that all runts were to be killed, but that was a grave mistake. While small jotuns may be physically weaker, they are incredibly talented in magic, so with their magic, they helped tip the scales in Asgard's favor. Still, they are not welcome in Jotunheim anymore, so Odin welcomes them to Asgard as citizens. Most Asgard citizens were okay with this, believing that small frost giants don't have the monster gene, which heightens frost giants. This was not True. There is no such thing as a monster gene, but Odin didn't tell the truth, thinking it was better for the new citizen's safety.

Thor and Loki are playing with Markus, the son of their father's advisors, Sif, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg. They are playing a game of tag where the tagger is a Frost giant, and they chases them. It was fun, but Markus insists that Loki must be the frost giant." Do you want me to be the frost giant all the time, Markus?" Loki asked, but Markus rolled his eyes." I thought you were the intelligent prince. It's because you are one of them. Only you can play the monster." The group of children goes quiet. Loki froze in place. No one has ever said that to him. Tears fill his eyes, and not wanting to let Markus see him cry, he teleported away. Thor's blood boils with rage." How could you say that? Father is Half jotun, and I have jotun in my blood too, and what about Fárbauti? She was Father's sister, and she gave her life to save Loki!" But Markus crosses his arms over his chest and looks at Thor like he is stupid." Well, that's because the Asir in your blood, as well as the king and lady Fárbauti, counteracts the monster gene, but Loki has too much frost giant in him that the little Asir he has can not overcome the monster gene." Thor punishes Markus in the face. He burst into tears and ran away. Thor turns to Sif, Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg." Let's find my brother."

Loki didn't know where he teleported. All he knew was that he had to get away. He just curled up in a ball and started crying. Loki hates his birth father so much for all the pain he caused not only to his family but to the rest of his people." Hello, are you ok?" Loki looked up and saw an Asir girl with tan skin and bright red hair looking at him curiously. He can tell she was not from here, and she was of noble birth with how she had on expensive jewelry." I'm fine, just a jerk saying mean things. Who are you? You not from here?" She shook her head." I'm Sigyn, the seventh Daughter of Erik from Varinheim. Father is here to talk to the king, but that's boring, so I went to the garden to practice my magic. When I see you teleport in, you're the first interaction person I've met since I came here." Loki whipped his tears from his eyes.” You practice magic; I do too.” Sigyn smiled brightly.” You must be Prince Loki. You, the only boy who practices magic, and you have queen Frigga as a teacher, must show me.” Loki and Sigyn spend hours discussing magic and discover that they are both gender fluid.” Brother, there you are!” Loki turns his head, and Thor runs up to him.” thank the Norse, I’ve found you after you left. I punched Markus in the face for the things he said.” Loki looks at him with shock, not that Thor had punched Markus but that since he started talking to Sigyn, he has completely forgotten about what happened with Markus. Thor finally noticed Sigyn.” Brother, who is your friend?” Sigyn jumped up.” I’m Sigyn, and Loki, and I will practice magic together.” Thor gives Loki a sly smile.” Well, it seems like the two of you have a good time. I’ll leave you to alone.” Thor leaves them, and Loki and Sigyn go back to practicing magic.

Chapter 3: Chess

Loki and her father like to play chess. Her father is the only person that she can't beat.  " I've seen you've been doing good on your side with your mother, and you're doing well in your jotun gerdr. Your snowballs are getting a lot better." Loki blushed." How do you know it was me?" Odin chuckled." It is the middle of summer, dear daughter, and the staff and guards have complained about being hit by snowballs. Huginn told me that he saw you and Thor on the balcony laughing as you made the snowballs, and you and Thor took tours in throwing them." Loki huffed, being snitched on by a bird. " I ensured the snowballs wouldn't hurt them when it hit them."

" there have been some problems in Jotun town. There was a group of Aesir after the war who still held hatred for all Jotun. They don't like that I've let the small Jotuns live here. They've formed a group they call Frost Giant hunters. They are not violent now, but I've been keeping a close eye on them for now." Loki was as worried as a small Jotun herself. She can relate." Father, I think it would be good to go into Jotun town and talk to them. They might open up more to me since I am one of them." Odin nodded." We both will go after this game."

As Loki enters Jotun's town, she goes into Jotun's form. Jotun town is just as golden as the rest of Asgard, but the Jotun that live there have decided on the city with images and objects from their culture. The culture that Laufey wanted to eradicate. Odin took Loki to the storefront that had been being harassed. The shop sold handmade clothes that were a mix of Jotun and Asgardian. All the windows were broken, and painted on the building was the frost giant hunter symbol, a Jotun being killed." Princess Loki! Your majesty, it's good to see you today." The people here always greet Loki first." We are doing well. I do wish we could have met in better circumstances." The Shop owner frowns." We will pay for the repairs to your shop, but can you tell us anything that can help catch these people?" The shop owner sighs.” Thank you, Your Majesty, but I don’t have much information. They all attacked at night while wearing masks, but I could tell that their armor was high-tempered stuff only the elite could afford, so I’d keep an eye out, my princess. There might be members in the castle.”

Chapter 4: Wedding bells

Loki was nervous as Hel and Sigyn had been counting since they were teens, not that they were legally adults. Loki and Sigyn were getting married. Loki was chosen to be the bride, while Sigyn was the groom. In the bridal room, her mother braided her hair in an Asgardian way but also added some Jotun jewelry. She wanted to show both her cultures. She wore a white and gold dress with a snowflake pattern. Thor barged into the room and paused upon seeing her little sister." You look beautiful, sister. Sigyn better not hurt you, or I'll destroy him." Loki rolled her eyes." Please do not scare him off, brother; no one else will have me." Thor scoffed." Anyone would be lucky to have you, Loki, and don't worry, Sigyn has always been loyal to you." " It's time," Frigga said

The thrown room was packed with the citizens of Asgard and people from Sigyn, home of Varinheim and many other realms. It is not every day that a princess of Asgard gets married. Odin was officiating. Sigyn stands nervously at the altar, but that all changes when Loki finally enters, and Frigga walks her down the aisle. Everyone in the room got quiet, and upon seeing Loki, Sigyn calmed down, and nothing but love was in his eyes. When Loki finally faced her lover." You're gorgeous." Loki snickers at his comment." So are you." Odin begins to speak, then comes the vows Loki goes first." Sigyn, I felt so alone when we first met, but then you popped up. I was just a child back then, but even I could tell you that you are the most beautiful person I've ever seen. You were the first person outside my family with a genuine interest in what I magic and so me for who I was, not my title. At that moment, I knew I would spend the rest of my life." Loki was finished. It was now Sigyn's turn." Loki, my love, was the seventh child in my family, which was tricky. While I do love my family very much with so many people, I was overshadowed by my siblings when I saw you in the garden all alone. It reminded me of myself, and when we began to talk, I felt seen for the first time. As we got to know each other, I fell in love and knew nothing could separate us.” After the vows, the two of them kissed. It was perfect.

When everyone was well and drunk at the reception, Sigyn and Loki snuck away and found their way to the garden where they first met. The night was fantastic.” What are we doing here, Sigyn?” Loki asked. Sigyn used his magic and a ball of light in his hand momentarily. It stayed there, but then it shot up into the air and exploded into smaller light that floated in the air, lighting the area.” Is it a crime to want my wife to me? Come on, love, let’s dance.” Loki takes her husband’s hand, and they dance in the moonlight. With Sigyn by her side, she knows nothing will go wrong.

Chapter 5: Tragedy

Loki and Sigyn had been happily married for five years, and now they were expecting twins, which were rare for such a long-living species. Odin and Frigga were excited to be grandparents, and Thor wanted to be the fun uncle. He and his wife were excited as well. From what they found out, both of their twins showed signs of seidr. They were happy that their children would inherit their Seidr, and no matter their gender, they would not let others put them down for their seidr.

Sigyn was 8 months pregnant, and there was an important feast that night." My lovely wife, I think you should not attend this feast. Twins tend to come early." Sigyn rolled her eyes." I know my beautiful husband, but do you know what the people will say? Nothing terrible will happen if I'm not there, and my parents will be there." Loki sighed." It's just the Frost Giant hunters have been very active lately. They are planning something big; I don't want you hurt." Sigyn kisses Loki on his lips." I'll be fine. There will be extra guards there."

Loki continues looking at his wife sitting next to him during the feast. His anxiety never goes away; he keeps his eyes out on everyone in the hall. Loki jumps when feeling a hand on his arm." Calm, love, everything will be alright." Loki was able to settle down a little, but that all changed when Sigyn ate the food that was given to her face, the pail, and she collapsed. A person jumped up and yelled." Die you monster lover and die  spawn of the monster." The man was tackled, and Loki rushed Sigyn to the healing hall. They find out that dark elves poison Sigyn, but sadly, they have to choose to save Sigyn or the babies, and Sigyn begins to save her children. After Sigyn passed, Loki was holding his twin sons. Narfi had black hair, and the one with red hair was Vali. Their skin was a litter blue to himself, but when they shifted to Asgard forms, Narfi looked exactly like Loki, except he had his mother's blue eyes, and Vali looked exactly like Sigyn but had his father's green eyes. At Sigyn's funeral, Frigga held her grandchildren while Loki fired flaming arrows at the Sigyn funeral boat. Loki knew she would be going to Valhalla. It is well known that mothers who die in childbirth go to Valhalla to let their children live.

Chapter 6: Coronation

Chapter Text

Today was a big day for Thor. It was the day when he would finally become king of Asgard. Loki was standing in the corner. He had told his father that he didn't think Thor was ready to be king. His father thought the responsibility of the throne would be suitable for Thor, while Loki didn't know, so he could tell there was no way of changing his father's mind. Thor walked over to Loki." Nerves, brother." Loki asked, but Thor just scarfed." I'm never nervous." Loki chuckled." I remember you being anxious in the battle against those fire giants. We would not have made it out alive if I hadn't used that mist spell." Thor rolled his eyes." I was just concerned about you getting too close. You know you and fire do not mix well."

As a waiter walks by, her goblets of wine turn into snakes, which causes her to yell and drop the tray, breaking the illusion. Thor looks at his brother." Now that was just a waste of good wine, brother." "It wasn't me." As soon as he said that, the brothers heard the sound of a child laughing. Loki turned to the noise and waved his hand in that direction, and two previous invisible boys appeared ( they looked to be about the age of kid Loki in the Loki TV show). The red-haired boy laughed while the black-haired boy glanced at his twin." Vali, you blow our cover!" Narfi yelled at his twin for laughing and giving them away." It's not my fault you, so that's a woman's face. It was hilarious." As the twins argued Thor smiled it had been hard after Sigyn murder as it turned out odin's adviser was the mastermind of the plot and all who where involved where executed. Thor was uneasy when the old advisor's son took his place. Markus clambered that he didn’t share his father's views. But Thor was happy to see his brother interact with his children. He gives them enough love for both of them and constantly tells them how much their mother loved them. Loki snatches the boys and pulls them into a big hug." They are just like you, brother." Loki rolled his eyes." You say that like it's a bad thing."

A servant came with their helmet." Cow," Thor said. Loki rolled his eyes. You're the one to say feathers." Vali put on his helm, which was in the shape of a wolf's head, and Narfi's helm, which had deer antlers on it. " It's time for the show.”

Notes:

So north mythology Vali gets forcibly turn into a wolf and eat his brother so that’s why Vali helm is a wolf and Narfi's helm is a deer which wolf’s eat
