Chapter Text
Character Bio: Captain Alaska (female Barnacles) is Bianca's younger twin sister, and the maternal aunt of Orson and Ursa. After going home to the Arctic for mating season, Alaska became pregnant and gave birth to triplet cubs; a rarity for polar bears.
She has green eyes, medium-length white fur reaching her shoulders and a quiff brushed to the left of her face.
Captain Alaska was very excited for her upcoming trip to the Arctic because it was mating season for her kind. Her older twin sister, Bianca, already had two cubs of her own, and now it was her turn to start a family of her own. The best part was that Prof. Inkling had already given permission for her to go, since they were going to be stationed in the Arctic for a while.
She still remembered the conversation they all had regarding her decision.
Flashback
The Octonauts were gathered in the library, at the request of Prof. Inkling, because Alaska had an announcement to make. W hat's the announcement, Captain?" Dashi, the crew's photographer, asked. The question brought a beam to the polar bear's muzzle, her green eyes sparkling with excitement.
I'm going home for breeding season!" Alaska said, barely able to contain her happiness. E xcept for Peso, Prof. Inkling, and Shellington, everyone else looked confused. "Breeding season?" Tweak echoed. "What's that?"
Prof. Inkling explained, "The captain will be heading home to start a family of her own. Unfortunately, the couples are only together for a week and the mothers raise the cubs alone,".
Alaska nodded in agreement before adding, "I won't be alone. After all, my cubs will have an older brother and plenty of aunts and uncles to help me take care of them,". One thing she said caught Peso's attention. "A big brother?" The female polar bear smiled and replied, "Yes, Peso, I see you as my son. You all are my family, and besides, I'll be back before you know it,". The young penguin positively beamed at her and didn't hesitate to embrace her. Following this, they all engaged in a group hug.
Flashback ends
The day it was time for her to leave, on the first of March, the crew was seeing her off. "Good luck, Captain!" Kwazii, her best friend/younger brother cheered. He was probably looking forward to becoming an uncle. Alaska smiled and with a wave, she leapt into the water and swam off knowing that her crew was in good hands.
For the few weeks that Alaska was gone, it's been pretty quiet and the crew had mostly been able to do their own thing. It was the middle of April and currently, Tweak was in the Launch Bay doing GUP repairs when a knock sounded from the door. One look at the camera told the green rabbit that their captain had returned. She pressed the Octo-Alert and ordered, "Octonauts, to the Launch Bay!"
Once everyone was there, Kwazii couldn't contain his curiosity anymore. "Yarr, why'd you call us down here, matey?".
Tweak didn't answer, but opened the door to let the captain in. Right when someone else was about to ask, Captain Alaska emerged from the pool and climbed onto the dock. "Halu," she greeted. It was obvious that her time home had done Alaska a world of good since she was much more relaxed and at ease. Peso rushed over to her and hugged her abdomen tightly. Then, he noticed a slight firmness on her stomach.
Alaska noticed the question in Peso's eyes, smiled, and nodded in affirmation. "That's right, Peso. You're going to be a big brother in eight months." she said.
Cheers rose from the crew as the news sunk in: Alaska was pregnant and the Octonauts family was growing.
