Chapter 1: Gintoki of the Natural Perm (Ft. Suzaku of the Rule Enforcement)
Chapter Text
2010 a.t.b, Somewhere in Japan
Standing in front of the ruins of a burned school were three young men. The first was a boy with a white natural perm.
"…" the white haired boy was kneeling in despair.
"Gintoki, they took him away didn't they." The second was a brown haired boy with a look of rage on his face.
The silver haired boy let out no response.
"Damn it all! I'll never forgive them!" The brown haired clenched his fists. Nothing filled him but rage; he was holding the urge to go berserk for whatever caused this ordeal.
"Gintoki…Suzaku…" The third was a foreign boy with black hair; Suzaku turned to the foreign boy, "…I swear…so help me…"
"I swear I'm going to crush them." the black haired boy clenched his fists, "Both Britannia and the Bakufu pigs who serve them. I'll crush them all."
"Lelouch, I'm willing to walk down the same path to hell." Suzaku affirmed, "For his sake, let's do this together."
"Gintoki?" Suzaku then turned to the white haired boy, "You with us?"
"…" Gintoki finally stood up and turned to the boys, "…"
Many Years Later
"…" Here Gintoki was eating chocolate sundae within the confines of a cafe. He was currently wearing a white yukata with its right half drooping over his sash. The white robes were layered over a black red-lined shirt.
Meanwhile in the background, a pair of glasses wearing a registrar-I mean a registrar with glasses was being yelled at by the owner of the cafe. Three britannian officers also happened to be there, observing the commotion like vultures.
"You've been here for a year! Why can you use the registrar right!?" the owner yelled.
"I'm so sorry sir. I'm only used to working with swords." the registrar pleaded.
"This ain't a place for swords!" the owner smacked the registrar, "This is no place for samurai! You wanna be a Samurai huh?!"
"That's enough." one of the britannian men said, "You there Eleven. Forgot about the register and got me some milk."
Ever since the Britannians had entered Edo 20 years ago, the people of Japan had grown weaker and weaker as the times had passed. Now branded as Area 11, its people had to suffer under Britannia's rule. Their lands, their dignity and even their names were taken.
The samurai especially had to suffer dearly. Either you become an outlaw wanted by the government or you lose your soul to Britannia. Having to lose their swords and main lines of work, many of them had lost meaning. It seemed to Gintoki that the boy, while not a warrior who fought on the battlefield, was a samurai just like him.
Just as Gintoki was about to take another spoonful of the sundae. One of the britannian men tripped the employee. The young man fell on Gintoki's table and hit his head. The table shook; spilling the sundae he was eating from.
"What the hell were you doing Shinpachi!" the owner yelled, "Oh we are so sorry! Please have mercy on me!"
"You good for nothing oaf!" The owner started pulling up the young man's hair. The britannian men smile in sadistic glee, "Apologise now!"
"…" Gintoki could stand this no more. He stood up and approached the man. Everyone now turned their sights on him.
"Hey." He then decked the owner in the face, sending him crashing towards the britannian men's table.
"What the hell?!" all of the men stood up in reaction.
"Who are you eleven?!" one of the men yelled.
"Wait, is that a sword?! That's illegal!" One of the other men noticed his wooden sword.
"Yada Yada Yada" Gintoki didn't care about what the men had to say. There was something that was more important to him than the outrages of some foreign punks, "Would you brits please shut up?"
"The mess you morons caused…" Gintoki presented the empty glass that once held the sundae he was gonna eat; an aura of danger was already surrounding him, "…My chocolate sundae…"
"IT SPILLED BECAUSE OF YOU ASSHOLES!" With all his might, Gintoki struck one of the men with his sword.
"You have no idea who you're dealing with Eleven!" The remaining two britannian men prepare to rush at Gintoki.
"Yeah, do you even know who we are?!" The arrogant Britannians thought they could match the samurai; they were wrong.
"I don't care! The doctor said my blood pressure is way too high!" In one strike, Gintoki defeated the remaining men as they all dropped to the ground, "And today was my only chance to eat sundae this week."
"Guh…" the first of the britannian men he beat up was about to recover. Gintoki prevented that by throwing his sword at the man, knocking him out for good.
Gintoki was about to take his leave. But before he did, he turned to the employee and said: "Oh yeah. Tell the owner the Sundae tasted good."
Gintoki took his leave and got out of the cafe. He put on his helmet and drove away on his white scooter. As he drove along the highway, he couldn't help but think about the sundae he wasn't able to eat.
Ugh, this is bad. He still felt livid about the spilled sundae. Not getting my sugar today…I'm starting to feel-Huh?
Gintoki's thoughts were cut off by the honking of a large cargo truck behind him.
"What the?!" Gintoki steered his scooter and was able to stop, Akira style. The truck on the other hand, steered left and crashed into a nearby parking garage. All the commotion had caused bystanders to gather nearby.
"Ah crap…" Gintoki got off his scooter and turned to the crashed vehicle.
Feeling responsible for the crash, Gintoki made a run towards the truck.
"Hey are you alright there?!" Gintoki called out; there was no response.
Hm? Gintoki quickly noticed the ladder on the right side of the truck as well as a roof that opened as a result of the crash. He climbed the ladder of the truck and checked through the open roof only to see a strange capsule.
"Is anyone there alright?! Hello?" Gintoki called for the truck's occupants. No response looks like I gotta-"Whoa!" Suddenly the truck started moving quickly in reverse as Gintoki fell into the truck.
"Hey, stop the truck! I'm still here!" Gintoki yelled but there was no reply again.
Damnit. Maybe I can find a way to escape. Gintoki searches the room for escape routes.
What the hell was the point of that stupid ladder if there weren't any inside? The only thing he could see in the room was just that capsule. Maybe he could just ask the driver nicely to stop…
The door was locked
Ah shit. Wait, maybe if I just scream loud enough they could notice me-
"Oy! To the guy that just took out the parking garage. Please pull over." Gintoki suddenly hears the voice of a police officer, "We are 93 % sure that's against the law."
"If you surrender I will give the chance to shoot my good-for-nothing Vice Commander." the officer continued, "If you manage to kill Hijikata I will happily clear you of all charges."
Oh fuck me. Gintoki just realised he was dragged into a terrorist operation.
"Sougo you'd better stop that! Ignore everything he said and stop right there! This is the Police!" the voice of another more pissed off policeman was heard, "Surrender now and you may get a chance to defend yourselves in court!"
Meanwhile, all the aircraft tailing the truck opened fire on it. The truck moves around to avoid the shots.
"Last Chance! Surrender at once!" All of the shots purposely missed; it was made as a warning.
"I gotta get out of here-Oh crap!" Gintoki screamed before shutting up. He realised he spoke too loud.
"The hell was that?" Gintoki hears a feminine voice coming from the door. He takes cover behind the capsule to not get caught by whoever the terrorists were, "Eh must've been nothing"
"Nagata, can you enter the subway via the Azabu Route?" Gintoki peeked to see a red haired woman talking to her accomplice on the radio. She took off her white coat, unveiling a more revealing outfit consisting of a headband and leather vest-shorts layered over a red top.
"Kallen, we gotta use it here!" Nagata replied through the comms.
"And endanger the people of Edo?! We can't resort to that yet." Kallen tried to ration.
"..." Nagata replied, "Alright then. Please be careful Kallen."
"This Glasgow may be rusty but they ain't getting through me." Kallen affirmed Nagata.
Kallen went up the stairs leading to a Glasgow, a mech with a red colour scheme. The backdoor to the truck opens as the Glasgow activates. Facing the police, it springs out into action.
Shit they've got a Knightmare Frame. Gintoki recognized the giant mech. The Knightmare Frames were the machines that were Britannia's trump card to bring Edo into submission and repel rebellions.
Alright, don't panic. Just think Gin, think! What would someone like Lulu do in a situation like this? What did he do back in his first episode? Oh right.
Gintoki took out his phone. He checks it, trying to search for a signal but it was to no avail.
Shit, no signal. Everything's getting dark too. Probably headed towards a ghetto.
The Truck finally came to a halt as it probably got stuck somewhere along the way.
Ah jeez what the hell is with that driver-Wait, now's my chance to escape. Gintoki tried to make a run for it. Unfortunately as he made his move…
"Stop right there!" Gintoki turned to see an armoured britannian trooper jump at him. preparing to perform a spinning kick. Gintoki reacted just in time to block it.
That kick? Gintoki faintly recognized that kick but he couldn't remember when.
"That's enough terrorism for you!" The soldier pinned Gintoki to the ground.
"Get off me! I just got dragged in this mess." Gintoki pushed the soldier. The soldier jumped back assuming a fighting stance, "Besides, wasn't that capsule Britannian property? Like, just saying."
"Wait, that voice…" The soldier stopped, "Gin, is that you?"
"Huh? How do you know my name?" Gintoki suddenly realises why that kick looked familiar., "Wait, is that you?"
"Yeah it's me, Suzaku." The soldier removed his helmet to reveal a japanese man with brown hair, "Long time no see old buddy."
"Wait, why are you serving Britannia? Didn't you and Lulu hate Britannia?" Gintoki questioned.
"I'm no longer a Joui Patriot. I left that life long ago." Suzaku assured, "I swore to end the cycle of violence and change Britannia from within-wait a minute…"
"What-" Before Gintoki could finish Suzaku punched him in the face.
"Gah! What the hell was that for?!" blood was comically dripping from Gintoki's nose.
"You called Lelouch Lulu." Suzaku said in a disappointed tone, "Didn't he specifically say only I get to call him that. I'm very disappointed in you."
Gintoki frowned at Suzaku as he wiped his bleeding nose.
"By the way how were you dragged into this-" the capsule started to open before Suzaku could finish.
"Gintoki!" Suzaku pushed his old friend out of the way, covering Gin's face with his mask. Both men prepared for the worst. The capsule finally opened but there was no poison gas. Instead of Poison Gas…
"What the?! A girl?!" Within that capsule was an unconscious girl. She was a young girl with short orange hair and was bound in a straightjacket with all sorts of restraints.
"Wait, those aren't killer hasbro trucks…" Suzaku's eyes widened to what actually was held within the capsule.
"Yeah it's-" Gintoki stopped upon realising what Suzaku said, "Killer Hasbro Trucks?! Where the hell do you keep getting these ideas?-"
"Ah, nevermind. It's just you being you. Mind helping me untie her?" Gintoki rushed towards the girl and tried untying her. Suzaku followed and did the same.
"Hey Suzaku, you work for those lolicons now." Gintoki asked Suzaku, "Why the hell is this girl here?"
"I don't really know. I was just told this was a Hasbro Truck carrying a bunch of smaller Hasbro trucks. Not a girl."
Just as they were about to finish untying the girl a sudden flash of light shone upon the three. The source was a unit of Royal Guards, ready to fire their guns.
"You brainless monkey!" The Captain of the Royal Guards swore, "Being an Honorary Britannian does not give you the right to help your kind."
"Sir! You said this was a Hasbro Truck carrying smaller Hasbro trucks." Suzaku stood up and was about to approach the Captain. However, Gintoki stopped Suzaku before he could do anything else.
"Hang on Suzaku, I got this."
"Gin, we can resolve this peacefully. That guy is my superior. I'm sure he could he lenient enough to-"
"Shoot me? Suzaku, just look at him." Gintoki pointed at the man, "Guy just looks like some generic Badguy Mcfodderscar we're gonna beat by the end of this chapter."
"You know I can hear you perfectly." the captain frowned at Gintoki's comment.
"Hey. Just let me handle this." Gintoki glared at the Royal Guard and reached for his sword…which he just couldn't find at all.
Shit! I must've forgotten my sword. Ah what do I do?! Wait! Gintoki improvised by assuming the position similar to Goku when doing a kamehameha.
"Kame…" an aura of awesome might menacingly surrounded Gintoki. It was as though he was channelling all his energy into one blast.
"What the hell is he doing?" The entire Royal Guard were baffled and a bit unnerved by what Gintoki was doing.
"hame…" Gintoki channelled all his might onto his position. Everyone present (except the sleeping girl because she was you know, sleeping) swore a ball of energy materialised in his hands.
"Such P-P-Power!" All the royal guards were trembling in fear. Even the captain couldn't help but quiver at the sight of Gintoki's 'power'.
".…haaaaa!"" Gintoki grabbed both Suzaku & the girl and made a run for it.
"Kyahh! Run away!" The entire Royal guard ran in the opposite direction; They ran for about 10 minutes.
"Wait a minute…" The captain of the Royal Guard just realised they'd been tricked, "All of you morons stop! We've been fooled!"
The entire Royal Guard stopped. There was an awkward pause.
"Uh what should we do now?" one of the Royal Guards finally spoke up.
"Report back to Clovis?" another suggested.
"No, we would have our heads on pikes if he found out that we violated rule 691 and come back with nothing to show!"
"How about we just omit that part then?" yet another Royal Guard proposed.
"How about we keep quiet about it. We are not going back empty handed!" the Captain exclaimed, "All we need to do is find those guys, kill them and retrieve the girl. Got it. Any objections?"
There was only silence from his lackeys.
"Good. I'm glad we could come to an agreement."
"…" There was another awkward pause.
"Well what are you morons waiting for?! Get them!" the Captain yelled as the Royal Guard rushed to achieve their objective.
The royal guard ran back to search for Gintoki, Suzaku and the girl. Unbeknownst to them, they had run past the three hiding behind a counter.
"We lost them"
"Hey Gintoki." Suzaku called.
"Yeah" Gintoki turned to Suzaku.
"Mind if I borrow your helmet? I forgot mine back at the truck." Suzaku asked.
"Okay, here you go." Gintoki gave Suzaku his helmet, "Wait why do you need a helmet?"
"I don't know why but anyways thanks Gintoki." The Suzaku moment Suzaku put on his helmet and started to run off into the distance.
"Wait Suzaku! Where are you going?!" Gintoki asked.
"I forgot something back at base. I just gotta get it back from the base." Suzaku answered, "I'll catch up later. See ya Gintoki."
"I don't want to be completely responsible for the girl! Suzaku, don't leave! Suzaku!" Suzaku!" Gintoki's cries were futile as Suzaku was already gone.
Ah dammit. Looks like I'm stuck with her. He looked down at the sleeping girl and sighed. He carried the girl and walked away to find the exit. He walked atop some stairs and stopped upon seeing the Royal Guard.
"Report." the Captain ordered.
"We found nothing of Suzaku, the girl nor the other guy"
"We're at one of the exits aren't we? They should be nearby."
"Yes sir. It matches with the map of the old city."
"Search the area again."
Crap. Too many of those guys. Looks like I'm going down again-
Gintoki's phone started to ring. He quickly hung up on whoever was calling him.
"Oh crap!" Gintoki made a run for it but was stopped with a bullet that barely missed him.
"Don't move or we kill you quicker!" The Royal Guard Captain grabbed Gintoki by the collar while his men grabbed the unconscious girl.
The moment they got the girl away from Gintoki, they then threw him to a wall. Loading their rifles, they prepare to fire.
"What an appropriate location for a Samurai to meet his end." All the Royal Guard pointed their guns at Gintoki. " First you couldn't save your country, then your pride , now your life. Your life will end! Any last words?"
"…"
"Are your last moments going to be in silence? Oh well-"
"My life will end huh? Don't put the crap on me, we all die one day." Gintoki cut the Captain mid-sentence. He merely stood there menacingly, "It goes for me, you & everyone else. Death is something we can't escape from. But what truly matters is the journey we walk and I won't end it here."
"Doesn't matter how much you trample over me or the people of Edo." Gintoki prepared for a fight, "I will still stand for my soul will still walk the path to the future-"
"Hey Gin. Catch!"
"Huh?" Gintoki heard Suzaku call him. He turned around…only to be met with a metal pipe headed toward him!
"Puh!" He fell to the ground just in time for the bullet to miss. The source of the attack was Suzaku as he walked up the stairs holding a book.
"What the hell was that for?!" Gintoki quickly got up, looking really pissed off. Blood was dripping from his forehead as glared at Suzaku.
"You're still alive aren't you. That's what truly matters." Suzaku replied with an innocent smile.
"I could've died from that!"
"But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
"Ah yes getting with a pipe is enough to make me stronger. Did the same happen to you at birth."
"As a matter of fact, yes. My mom said you could develop a harder head to reduce pain if you experience enough of it."
"Yeah but it still hurts like hell!" Gintoki and Suzaku argued for 5 minutes.
"Sir, should we fire now?" Meanwhile the Royal Guard was witnessing the whole thing unfold.
"Let them be…I wanna enjoy this chaos." the Captain arrogantly stated, "Besides, it's just 2 guys against a dozen of us. I don't think they'll win."
"Oh yeah by the way, aren't you forgetting something?" Gintoki gestured towards the Royal Guard.
"Oh that's right." Suzaku said and turned to the Royal Guard. Gone was the cheery attitude the man displayed a while back; he now had a look of pent up fury instead. He presented the book to everyone, it was a Rulebook for Britannian Soldiers.
"Look at this…" Suzaku opened the book to a certain page; he pointed at rule 691, "You all just violated Rule Number 691…"
"When faced against a man about to blast an energy beam, never run away because the energy beam wasn't real to begin with. I can tolerate all the abuse you can inflict upon me but…" Suzaku threw the book upon one of the Royal Guards, knocking him out at an instant, "I DRAW THE LINE AT BREAKING THE RULES!"
"What kind of rule is that?!" Gintoki's jaw dropped upon hearing about the stupid rule.
"A rule to keep the people safe!" Suzaku hit another man straight in the jaw, "How dare you people break the rules! You're all supposed to be enforcing the law!"
"Prepare for divine retribution!" Suzaku rushed in to kick the asses of the remaining Royal Guards. Some of the Royal Guard aimed at Suzaku; they were quickly beaten with a metal pipe.
"Hey Hey." Gintoki grinned as rested the pipe on his shoulder, "Did you punks seriously forget about me?"
"Blast them!" The Captain yelled.
The Royal Guard opened fire upon Gintoki and Suzaku. Both men dodged the barrage of bullets and made their next moves. With each strike, the Royal Guard's numbers diminished at an accelerating rate. It continued for a while until the only one left was the Captain himself.
"You monkey. How dare you keep defying us!"
"And how dare you break the rules." Suzaku retorted.
"So long as our souls walk their course. You won't beat us." Gintoki pointed his weapon at the Captain.
"Doesn't matter. Prepare to die!" The captain pointed his gun at Gintoki.
Wait a minute…The Captain quickly realised that shooting the silver haired samurai would be a futile attempt knowing what happened to the rest of the Royal Guard. He took a look at the unconscious girl instead. A smile appeared on the Captain's face; he pointed the gun at the girl. If if he couldn't hit Suzaku or Gintoki maybe he can-
Whatever the Captain was planning, he couldn't do it. Gintoki was quick to notice the Captain and uppercutted him. Suzaku then followed with a punch to the face. The Captain was sent flying toward the building's wall. A hole was torn through the wall as sunlight gleamed through it.
Suzaku hissed as the sun's rays shone upon him. He covered himself as a means to shield from the sun.
"Hey. You alright?" Gintoki approached Suzaku.
"I'll be fine. The sun's light is just irritating me as usual." Suzaku replied,
"What are we gonna do about her?" Gintoki gestured towards the girl.
"We'll just ask her questions once she wakes up."
"Alright then, you just wait for her to wake up." Gintoki suggested, "I'll be on my way."
"But Interrogating her here isn't a good idea…" Britannian soldiers would probably be on the lookout for anything suspicious; little girls in straightjackets are definitely suspicious, "Maybe I'll interrogate her at your place. Mind telling me where it is?"
"Absolutely not. I do not want people (Especially her) to get the wrong idea." Gintoki argued with Suzaku, "She is not my problem anymore-"
Suzaku immediately stomped on the ground beneath him. The stomp caused a mini-earthquake that shook the building to the point of near collapse.
"You were saying?" Suzaku smiled.
"I'll bring her to my place at Kabuki-Cho," Gintoki affirmed, "It's atop an Old Hag's bar."
"Alright, I'll meet up with you later. I'll just have to deal with these guys." Suzaku gestured to all the Royal Guards they had just beaten up.
"Wait, you're still gonna stay in the Britannian Military?" Gintoki was a bit worried for his old friend (Even if he was threatened by the same friend a moment ago.), "You'll definitely get in trouble for what we just did."
"No worries. I'll be fine." Suzaku affirmed, "I do know some people who could get me out of this."
"You sure? Oh well just be careful. I'll just bring her back to my place. See ya" Gintoki carried the girl and took his leave.
"I'll see you too. Oh and by the way, Gintoki…" Suzaku said before they parted ways, "It warms my soul to see you again."
"Me too buddy. Me too"

“Big Brother!” a little girl had called for her brother as he was about to leave.
“Where are you going?” she pleaded, “Don’t leave mommy!”
“…” For a moment her older brother stopped walking down the stairs. He turned to his sister one last time, most of his face shadowed under the umbrella he was wielding.
“Kagura…” her brother finally said, “Get lost.” He replied, “I have no need for weaklings like you.”
Many years Later, Somewhere at Sundawn
“Gintoki! You’d better have the rent! You’d better pay up now!”
“Quit whining about the rent you old hag! Wasn't the rent already paid!”
“You’d better stop relying on others to pay for you! Pay up now!”
“Well, I don't have the money! How the hell am I to pay for them?!”
“Uhh…” the ensuing argument was loud enough to wake Kagura from her sleep.
“Stupid Scientists.” she got up from the couch and ,“Why can't you let me sleep-” she stopped upon realising something, Hang on, This isn't a creepy lab…
“How should I know!? If you aren't gonna pay, you’d better sell your liver!”
Where am I? She got up and observed her surroundings. She wasn't in a lab anymore but rather a standard looking room.
“Err…I fixed your video last month! That makes up for the rent!”
Hm? On a nearby table was a packet of something labelled as ‘Sukonbu’; It caught the attention of the girl’s eye. She grabbed the Sukonbu and ate from it.
“Yummy.” she muttered.
“Excuses! Excuses! That's all that comes out of your mouth! No matter how many months pass, there's still no rent! That fix of yours was a failure anyways! The video still broke!”
That noise. Kagura explored the place to find an exit; she wanted to shut up all the commotion and go back to sleep.
“Keep trying, it'll work again.”
The young girl exited the room to the entrance of the building. By the exit she saw an old lady arguing with a man with a white natural perm.
“I don't care!” The old lady was about to grab Gintoki and mercilessly beat him into submission, “Just pay the rent you natural perm head-” She stopped upon seeing Kagura.
There was an awkward silence.
“Gintoki. You are a complete good-for-nothing slacker who barely pays rent…” the old lady narrowed her eyes in disgust, “…But I didn't think you were rotten enough to stoop lower than that.”
“How in the hell am I that rotten-” Gintoki stopped to realise something, The girl Suzaku and I found…she’s right behind me isnt she…
“Hey old lady, It's not what you think” Gintoki tried to explain.
“Oh really. That young girl being in a straightjacket seems to explain a lot.” The old lady said, “I’m going to call the police.” she then held Gintoki's struggling body high up in the air, “Right after I go kick your ass!”
“Wait?!” Gintoki tried to explain, “A friend and I just found her when we got caught up in a military operation-”
“A likely story! You’d better make more believable lies if you want to avoid rent!” the old lady grabbed Gintoki and threw him off the stairs.
“What the hell does this have with reeeeeeent!” Gintoki screamed as he was mercilessly thrown off the stairs.
Meanwhile Suzaku just arrived wielding an umbrella. Gintoki’s old friend was now clad in robes heavily covering his body with the exception of the head. Gintoki landed face-front in front of Suzaku.
“Hey Gintoki. Did the girl we take from the military wake up already?” Suzaku nonchalantly looked down at Gintoki.
“Ugh…” Gintoki groaned, “…Is that the first thing you say after seeing your friend get injured…Uhh”
“Oh she already woke up.” Suzaku walked up the stairs past the old lady and approached the girl, “Nice to meet you girl. What's your name?”
“Kagura.” she said.
“Nice to meet you Kagura. Mind if I ask you some questions?”
30 minutes later
“…And then that's how we got here.”After the whole mess was settled Suzaku explained the entire thing to the old lady, Otose. Currently, they were all discussing matters on a table within the old lady’s bar beneath Gintoki’s home.
“So is that what happened?” Otose asked.
“Yes, ma’am.” Suzaku answered.
“Alright I believe you.” she said.
“Oh bullshit! How come you didn't believe me, you Old Hag?!” Gintoki screamed.
“I know that even if it was true, it was still another one of your schemes to avoid rent.” Otose deduced, “You people still owe me the rent.”
“How the hell would that relate to rent?!”
“I just know it.” She narrowed her eyes on Gintoki.
“So Kagura. That your name right?” Suzaku asked the girl, “How’d a girl like you end here?”
“I thought you people carried me here,” Kagura answered.
“He didn't mean that.” Gintoki facepalmed, “What were you doing in that capsule?”
“That? Some bad men just ambushed me.” Kagura explained, “I get struck with some needles and the next thing I know I’m in some lab getting experimented on.”
“Ok good to know.” Gintoki responded, “Where do you live?”
“I landed here.” she replied
“An immigrant huh?” Suzaku assumed.
“Yup.” Kagura answered, “My family was really poor and we didn't eat much outside rice bowls.” she continued, “I heard this was a good place to make money. So I came all the way to this planet.”
“Case solved, let's just bring the brat back home” Gintoki suggested.
“I’m not going back without my stuff.” Kagura exclaimed.
“Yeah, I care.” Gintoki replied, “I’m certainly sure we can get you new clothes-”
“Gin, let's go get her stuff back.” Suzaku suggested.
“No!” Gintoki detested the idea, “The last thing I want is to get in trouble with the law again.” he added further, “You always follow the rules, don’t you! Whatever were gonna do next is definitely against the law”
“Not unless you follow this.” Suzaku brought out a rulebook for helping illegal immigrants, “According to rule 109-”
“Why is there a rule book for that crap?!”
“Oh that. It's to make sure even criminals can follow the law as best as they can.” Suzaku answered, “As I was saying: Rule 109 states that if the immigrant we helped happens to have an unknown background, is a prisoner and asks to retrieve something, we retrieve it so we can figure out more about them.”
“That rule sounds bullshit!” Gintoki exclaimed, “Where would her stuff even be?!”
“The capsule she was in was stolen from a military compound.” Suzaku explained, “So it would be probable that her stuff is still there. So who's ready for a military raid?”
“I am!” Kagura childishly raised her hand.
“I have nothing to do with this.” Otose said, “I’m definitely not tagging along.”
“Understandable,” Suzaku said.
“Me neither. I’m not getting dragged into this again.” Gintoki added.
“Why Gin? You helped save this girl.” Suzaku asked, dissapointed.
“I am not risking my life for some little girl’s stuff.” Gintoki answered, “Besides we don't know where it even is-”
“I was debriefed on it, remember.” Suzaku informed Gintoki, “It was stolen from the Research Base in Narita. The sooner we get this done, the better.”
“As if you know anything on how to break into it” Gintoki made a slight chuckle.
“Which is why I also brought this.” Suzaku brought out another book. It was yet another rule book, this time it was for breaking and entering.
“Another one?!” Gintoki's jaw dropped upon seeing the book, “Who would make a Rule Book for Breaking & Entering?!” the white haired samurai exclaimed, smashing the table beneath him, “Its suicide! We're breaking into a highly armed military compound.” he reasoned further, “Rescuing that girl is all I am willing to-”
Simultaneously, Kagura and Suzaku smashed the table. However, unlike Gintoki, their smash had caused the table to collapse into millions of little bits.
“-not just do! I am so happy to help!” Gintoki complied with a shiver.
“Gintoki, I am adding the damage fees to your rent.” Otose added.
“Good, I’m glad we could come to an agreement.” Suzaku smiled, “Gintoki, pack up. We're headed for the mountains.”
Midnight, Somewhere in the Narita Mountains
A truck drove through an empty road.
“Are we there yet?”
“No”
Within that truck was a cargo of supplies. Nothing seemed out of place…
“Are we there yet?”
“No”
Well nothing except for a cardboard box sealed in tape. Within that cardboard box were Gintoki, Suzaku and Kagura, all garbed in dark ninja-like clothing. Gintoki had a box cutter knife & the metal pipe he had from Chapter 1, Suzaku wielded an umbrella and Kagura was eating from a packet of pickled seaweed.
“Are we there yet?” Kagura asked, mouth full of Sukonbu.
“No,” Gintoki replied, his eyes twitching.
For the past 2 hours, Kagura kept asking if they were there yet. Gintoki really really wanted to shut her up. Too bad for him, Suzaku was right beside him.
Curse you and your stupid rule books. Gintoki couldn't do a thing without breaking one of Suzaku’s rules. According to Rule 501 of Suzaku’s stupid rule book for helping illegal immigrants: When escorting an immigrant, if he/she happens to keep asking if we are there yet, you must not shut them up and answer truthfully.
“Are we there yet?”
“No”
Why must I suffer for this torture?! Gintoki was screaming on the inside.
The truck stopped by a Secret Research Facility. A guard went to inspect the truck; he was currently engaged with asking the driver some questions.
Finally, I can get to shut her up! Gintoki let out a sigh of relief.
“Are we there yet-”
“Yes! We’re already here!” Gintoki screamed at the top of his lungs, “You can shut up now!”
“The hell was that?!”
Oh crap. Gintoki quickly realised his yell alerted security.
Hearing the sound of a scream, the guard & the driver inspected the inside of the truck. The box sealed in tape caught the attention of the guard’s eye.
“Scuse me Steve, what's with the box.” he called for the driver.
“That? I dunno” the driver honestly answered, “It's probably some weird-sounding machine the guys need for their weird science project.”
“Ah I see. I guess you’re clear then.”
“Aight.” The truck moved into the confines of the facility.
Using the box cutter, Gintoki cuts through the box. He emerges and observes his surroundings.
“Is the coast clear?” Suzaku asked.
“Seems so.” Gintoki exits the box followed by Kagura and Suzaku, “What's our next step?”
“The sneaking part.” Suzaku answered.
“Alright let's go.” Gintoki said.
“Hang on Gin.” Suzaku stopped Gintoki before he could do anything else.
“What is it now-” Gintoki was tackled and pinned to the ground by his old friend.
“According to Rule 1 of Sneaking & Entering. You must always keep quiet, otherwise you might alert the guards!” Suzaku yelled, “You screamed and alerted them!”
“You're screaming too!” Gintoki pointed out.
“Stop screaming, you rule breaking deviant!” Suzaku screamed, “You might alert security again!”
“Hypocrite!” Gintoki shouted back, “You’re breaking the same rule too!”
“How dare you!” Suzaku lifted Gintoki by the collar, “Questioning a man of the law is a serious offence!”
“What man of the law are you?!” Gintoki cried, “You're a soldier, not a policeman!”
“What are you people doing here?!”
“Ah shit…” Gintoki & Suzaku turned to see a bunch of guards open the truck’s inside. They were fully armed with rifles.
“If only you had kept quiet…” Suzaku said in disappointment at Gintoki.
“Alerted them!” Gintoki was livid at Suzaku’s rule-obsessing antics, “They wouldn't have been alerted if you hadn't shouted!”
“Shut it! What the hell are you Elevens doing here?!” one of the guards demanded.
“No need to worry, good sirs.” Suzaku affirmed, “We’re just breaking & entering to retrieve this young girl’s clothes.” He pointed at Kagura.
“Alert the others.” one of the guards ordered.
“Wait before you go report us, may I go through this book first.” Suzaku asked as he presented the rule book on breaking & entering.
“Yeah right. As-”
“Let's see here…” Suzaku skimmed through the book faster than the guard could finish his sentence, “aha!” Suzaku stopped at a certain page. According to Rule Number 99: if you get caught by security, just beat the hell outta them.“Okie dokie!”
“-If we’d let you do that.” The guard stated, “Y’know what? Screw calling the others. Boys! Open fire-”
In one swift kick, Suzaku had disarmed all the guards.
“What the hell-” The guards were then decked by Kagura. They were launched all the way to another nearby truck, shattering the vehicle’s side.
“Looks like the coast is clear.” Kagura stated as the truck the guard were launched to started beeping loudly.
“Not for long!” Gintoki screamed, “We better do this quickly!” He did not want to get killed today, “Where off to next?!”
“Oh simple, let's just go through the compound and force our way in.” Suzaku answered.
So much for keeping quiet, Gintoki facepalmed.
Gintoki, Suzaku and Kagura had already progressed through most of the compound. Of course, the entire security had been alerted to the highest degree. Though thanks to Suzaku and Kagura, the guards weren't that much of a challenge.
After busting through every single door they came across (Courtesy of Suzaku & Kagura), they finally came across the room containing Kagura’s stuff. There really wasn't that much save for her clothes and an umbrella.
“There's my stuff!” Kagura exclaimed.
That umbrella… Suzaku’s interest peaked upon seeing that type of umbrella. He recognised its design.
“Hey, Kagura.” Suzaku asked, “You don't happen to be one of the Yato? Are you?”
“Why are you asking?” Kagura asked in return.
“I recognize that umbrella.” he replied, “I know for a fact Yato hate sunlight. So they never let go of their umbrellas”
“Oh, yeah. I am a Yato.” she replied back.
“Huh. Neat to know.” he said, “Mind if I ask you more-”
“Who cares about the Yato! Let's make a run for it.” Gintoki said. He made a dash for the door only to be pushed back by armed men.
“There they are!” Multiple Guards suddenly rushed into the room to surround the three.
“Well, well, well.” A man in a lab coat entered the scene. Kagura gasped upon seeing him, “If it isn’t the Yato girl.”
“You're the bad man.” Kagura shivered at the man’s sight.
“So what if I am? It ain't saying much coming from your kind.” the man gloated, “With that mess you caused back there you're probably even worse. Y’know with all the bloodshed you Yato love to cause.”
“That's not true!” Kagura exclaimed.
“Yeah right.” the man ordered, “You alien freaks only know bloodshed.”
“Alien?” Gintoki & Suzaku wondered.
“Quiet elevens! You have no right to speak.” the man said, “You're gonna die anyways.”
“To think the Yato they’re from space…Intriguing.” Suzaku answered, “Hey, mind if I ask you about the Yato?”
“Why should that matter? You're gonna die anyway.” the man pointed out, “Oh well, Kill those elevens and retrieve the alien.”
“Yes, sir!” the guards complied as they aimed their rifles.
Suzaku narrowed his eyes as he reached for his umbrella.
Gintoki observed Suzaku. His eyes suddenly widened as he realised something .
[“I know for a fact that Yato hate sunlight. So they never let go of their umbrella”]- Suzaku said that the Yato hates the sunlight.
[“Mind if I borrow your helmet? I forgot mine back at the truck.” Suzaku asked.]- Back in Chapter 1, Suzaku asked to borrow Gintoki’s helmet before going out. It was as though he needed to cover himself from something outdoors, like the sun.
[Suzaku hissed as the sun’s rays shone upon him. He covered himself as a means to shield from the sun.]- From the times they spent together, he knew Suzaku was sensitive to sunlight.
[Meanwhile Suzaku just arrived wielding an umbrella. Gintoki’s old friend was now clad in robes heavily covering his body with the exception of the head.]- Suzaku usually wore a lot of clothing while holding an umbrella too.
[Simultaneously, Kagura and Suzaku smashed the table. However, unlike Gintoki, their inhuman smash had caused the table to collapse into millions of little bits.]- He constantly displayed feats of immense power throughout the times they spent together.
Does that mean Suzaku…
Suzaku quickly got a hold of his umbrella’s handle. Hidden from the umbrella, he unsheathed a katana. In one fell swoop, he cut down the Guard’s rifles.
“To answer your question.” Suzaku responded, “ I learned of the Yato through my mom. She happened to be one of them.”
“Shit, there’s two of them…” sweat was dripping down the britannian man’s face as he shivered in terror.
“What are you idiots waiting for!?” he exclaimed, “Blast them!”
The men prepared to fire only to be struck down by Gintoki & Kagura.
“Yet again you morons forgot about me.” Gintoki let out a confident smile, “So, which of you lolicons are first in line to get their asses kicked.”
“How about all of them?” Kagura put her fists together.
“That I agree with.” Suzaku pointed his blade at the men, “They all deserve justice.”
The man in the lab coat cowardly retreated out of the scene, making turns at every corridor. He still heard the sound of loud gunfire but was diminishing with each second. There was less and less gunfire until he heard nothing.
He finally stopped and took a moment to breathe.
“Cursed Yato!” He clenched his fists, “I won't let those alien freaks run amok on Britannia’s lands!”
“Can't really fight them…” The man realised that fighting the intruders was a useless attempt, “No matter! I just gotta escape from those freaks and come back stronger than ever.”
Britannia may lose this battle but they wont lose the war! For I am still able to escape from this unscratched-
“Hey, Hey.” The man felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see a certain red haired alien with an umbrella gun. The girl let out a smile, aiming her umbrella at him “Remember me.”
Oh shit! Oh Shit! Oh shit! The man runs along the compound, narrowly avoiding rapid gunfire. He runs and runs until he comes across some guards, likely the last ones remaining.
“We heard the commotion. Something wrong?” one of the guards asked.
“Of course there's something wrong!” he yelled and pointed to where he was running, “Deal with the intruders!”
The guards ran towards the direction the man pointed at, Those guards may not last but at least I’ll have enough time to-
Before he could escape, the ceiling was hit with a barrage of bullet fire. The impact caused the ceiling to collapse, blocking the exit.
escape… He turned to see Kagura walking towards him. The remaining guards lay beaten next to Suzaku & Gintoki.
“About what you said…” Kagura said, “It's true. I do like fighting but I won't give in.” she affirmed,”From now on I will fight my Yato blood.”
“You alien freaks! I won't let you ruin our-” before he could finish he was hit in the mouth by a metal pipe, courtesy of Gintoki.
“Quit yapping! I ain’t even a Yato!” Gintoki said, “Anyways. got any last words before we cut to the next segment.”
The man gulped in terror knowing what was about to happen.
One really painful beating later
“Finally, it's over.” Gintoki sighed in relief, “Now that we got that brat’s stuff back, she can finally go home.”
“But I can't.” Kagura replied.
“What do you mean you can't. You already got your stuff back-” Gintoki remembered that Kagura was an alien from outer space, Oh wonderful…
“Thanks to your planet’s primitive technology, I can't go home.” Kagura said, “I don’t even have money…” she continued, “In the meantime, I think I’ll just hang around you guys.”
“Sorry, Kagura. Can't hang out with me right now.” Suzaku assured, “Going to the Britannian Military honestly sounds like a horrible idea.” he then turned to Gintoki, “I guess I’ll leave her under your care.”
“Hell no!” Gintoki objected, “I may have helped rescue this brat & risk my life retrieving her stuff but I am not letting a violent little girl-”
Kagura hit the wall behind Gintoki, making a humongous crack on it.
“You were saying?” she asked nonchalantly.
“Nothing. You can live in my house.” Gintoki replied, paralysed by pure fear.
“I'm glad you people came to an agreement. I’ll be taking my leave now.” Suzaku said as he nonchalantly smiled, "Oh well, good luck Gin!
After that ordeal, Gintoki & Kagura return back to Kabuki. By the time they had returned home, it was already noon.
“Hello, is anyone there?” they heard the unfamiliar voice of a young man. The voice was coming from upstairs.
Hm? Someone must be looking for me. Gintoki & Kagura walk up the stairs to find a young man with glasses knocking on the door. Accompanying him was a woman with brown hair.
“What brings you people to my house?” Gintoki asked
“You’re the freelancer, Odd-Jobs Gin right?” The woman replied.
“Yeah, I’m Odd-Jobs Gin.” he answered, “What do you want my help for?”
“Please help us!” the woman pleaded, “We need your help to find someone.”
“Okay, who am I supposed to be looking for…” Gintoki then noticed that the young man with glasses was menacingly staring at him.
“What's with that guy?” Gintoki pointed at him, Hang on? Where have I seen that face before? For some reason he looks familiar, Eh must’ve been nothing.
“My brother here just lost his job.” the woman answered, “We're looking for the guy who got him fired.”
“It's you.” the young man finally spoke, “You're him.”
“Huh?” Gintoki noticed that a wooden sword was hanging on the man’s sash, it was his wooden sword.
“Hey is that my swor-” Before Gintoki could finish he was smacked in the head with a wooden sword.
“I finally found you! You goddamn jackass!” the young man yelled in unrelenting fury.
“Ah! What the hell was that for?!” Gintoki yelled back.
“Shinpachi, what are you doing!” his sister yelled, “He’s supposed to help us!”
“Aneue, he's the guy!” Shinpachi yelled, “That's the Samurai who made me lose my job!”
“Oh my…So you're the guy responsible for my brother’s unemployment” Shinpachi’s sister turned her attention to Gintoki, “Good to know.” She let out a killer smile as she clenched her fists together, “ I thank you for helping me find him.”
In the next few minutes, the only thing Gintoki would yearn for was the sweet release of death.
Author’s Notes:
Finally done, I can finally focus on chapter 3.
Anyways, here are some stuff to clarify:
Clovis and his goons aren't just focused on Code-R with C.C. but also another project involving the Amanto (Not sure on what to name it so I’ll take any good suggestions if you guys have any).
Also Suzaku is a Yato (Half-Yato at least). As for why, with all the crazy stuff he was able to pull in cannon (e.g. outrunning bullets) I thought it’d be funny to make him a Yato. Initially it was gonna be Shirley who was gonna be the half-yato but I later realised Suzaku would fit much better and would also make for more interesting ideas I could play off in future arcs. Plus with the lack of cannon info on his mom, I figured I could also flesh her out in my own way (She’ll show up much later, I assure you). As for his umbrella, I figured an umbrella sword would work better the standard Yato Umbrella with him never being born into the clan in the first place.
Anyways that’s it. See you next chapter
