Chapter 1: Ragna the blood phantom

Chapter Text

That sword… That… sword… What was it about that sword… That was driving her insane!?

Why did that sword exist? It looked so familiar, yet she didn’t know who’s it was!? And every time she tried to remember, her memories were barely fuzzy and seemed like they never existed?!

Okay, maybe its just a regular sword! A regular sword that stood taller than her, was wider than her and couldn’t break even when compressed between Tager’s hands. And it turned into a scythe that one time!

Okay! Maybe not so normal!

“…How troublesome”

All this time, she had been going to the red jacket and sword that lay neatly on the ground near Rachael Alucard’s Mansion. In fact, this whole operation had become a joint operation with herself and Rachael, because when she found out that Rachael was determined to bring the owner of those clothes back, both knew this madness had to stop. It also didn’t hurt to have a few extra funds.

Kokonoe wouldn’t let a jacket and sword be her primordial downfall.

Cool! Now she had help, and an ally she could trust. All that was to figure out where the mystery outfit came from. Sadly, things didn’t pan out for weeks (months? She stopped counting a while ago) and all because of one major flaw.

Despite getting a familiar feeling from it, they could never even seem to remember what the jacket looked like, let alone it’s owner. And thing was… they could almost tell. They remembered parts of history that just seemed to have a… blank.

For example, when Rachael was rapidly losing her powers, she had someone protecting her… but she never knew who. Her memory just didn’t comprehend that person, apparently. Or what about when Kokonoe’s mother, nine, was killed? Someone must of done it, probably whoever owns this sword and jacket, but why couldn’t she remember something so important?

Well, to each question you can’t solve with reason, you can brute force (magic). Much to Kokonoe’s Dismay.

Gathering Tager, Herself, Rachael and her butler, Valkenhayn of the ex-6 heroes, they got to work on something to solve this situation. A way to break into the boundary.

Although there seemed to be gaps in their memory, they could still remember being ruled by a god, and being unable to access the boundary without excessive needs and needless excess of human lives.

But there was no god.

Not anymore.

How could they have overlooked this! It was too simple to pass on, but since seither was roaming free, and was still kept in control, that meant there was no one enforcing the rules anymore. It meant there was a way into the boundary now.

And with a (reluctant) call of magic, Kokonoe coursed the seither from out of her veins and emitted it to split the gap between the boundary and this world… and got more than she bargained for.

A large wave blasted around the laboratory, sending anyone nearby several feet back. “Are you alright, Kokonoe?” “Tch, that’s not important right now. Help the other try and keep that thing in check!” White energy was oozing from the centre of her experiment. Was this going to work?

Instead of just splitting a crack, she accidently let loose the contents of the boundary. Several of Kokonoe’s equipment started cursing under the weight and she was barely holding on herself, although Tager seemed just fine. Kind of like it was breezy to him, actually.

Disregarding the people in the room, the white started growing and growing and growing- until it eventually collapsed and suddenly the weight on them was gone.

She’d done it! She’d successfully split the rift between this world and the boundary momentarily, and even though she was tired, she had brought that man back! And she’d finally get some answers and she’d finally clear that headache she had for so long and... Wait, wasn’t there more than one person popping out?

A large ball of gloopy black, harbouring a silent and violent, smiling, and hollow white atop its face. Beneath that face It hid a humanoid appearance, one that looked mad in power or something akin, quickly squirming out and around the Alucard mansion, until it finally broke free of that place and headed off to the unknown.

“…Miss Rachael? Have we met this beast before”

Valkenhayn was right. A beast it was indeed. It was eery just looking at it, and it probably would have made a great experiment, but that Black Beast was simply too much of anomaly to deal with right now.-

“Wait… Black Beast?”

That name was familiar… It Brought back some heinous thoughts; a world screaming in ash and pain until there was no one left to scream. She saw the chaos that Yuki Terumi (another unfamiliar name, but also..?”) caused to start an infinite loop to cause pain and torture, more pain and torture to even her own mother, making her a phantom because of his wicked schemes…

These weren’t her memories, though? It was almost as if that creature, That Black Beast, was here right now with them that she could almost make out what they were…

…Front facing them stood three figures. One Man that looked like he was missing some clothes. One Woman that looked confused and perplexed, looking all too familiar. One she couldn’t see but could definitely hear. “ Ahahaha, isn’t this just WONDERFUL~ To think there’d be such a shit show like this~ ”

But that didn’t matter as the Woman’s body grasped around Kokonoe. “Kokonoe!? Is that you?! Are you alright?!”

She didn’t know what was going on, but first of all she had to escape her grasp. Easier said than done, but eventually she did and looked at this witch like figure that seemed so confused that her eyes might have turned white. Or maybe they were like that before? She couldn’t tell.

“…?”

“Kokonoe… Of course you’d forget about me… I don’t know what happened but the boundary has been abused much less over however long I’ve been there… But I still need an answer. Where’s Jubei?” Kokonoe hadn’t said anything yet, so she wondered how she arrived at that conclusion.

Even if Kokonoe was, for lack of a better work, a dick with no dick, she could still hear- feel, the desperation in her voice. Even she couldn’t say no.

“…He’s living in some place in the forest. I’m not sure why you’d assume I know, he only comes here occasionally comes here to look at the sword… for whatever reason. Oh and speaking of the sword, It wasn’t even anything special- in fact, let me show you, the swords in this lab right now!”

That damned cat kept showing up every now and then, and kept looking at that sword… and whenever she asked him he’d just say it looked familiar, and then leave. He’d also steal her snacks and ruin her furniture! LAY OFF THE SNACK, YOU FUCKING HAG!

However, when she’d arrived at the sword, the unknown man had already taken that sword, and skedaddled.

“OI! WHERE THE HELL’RE YOU GOING?!”

Watching this ridiculous sight were Tager and Nine (Valkenhayn observing from slightly behind them), who were not quite sure what to do now.

“…I’ll be back soon”.

With such commending words that he absolutely would not fulfil, Tager rushed off to catch Kokonoe before she accidently blew up the forest.

“…Where exactly is ‘House somewhere in the forest’?”

“Likely where the others went”.

“Oh, thank you, Valkenhayn”

“…Are you sure you’re alright, miss Nine?”

“…Yes? I believe that I’m fine, though what’s happened recently and before are still a bit fuzzy, everything feels normal to me.”

“Hm…”

Perhaps there was something amiss here… but that witch lady was already gone before Valkenhayn could question it… No point in chasing after her, he guessed.

“Well, Lady Alucard, shall we head to our scheduled teatime now?”

“Yes, I Believe we shall, Valkenhayn”.

*Rustle* *Rustle*

“FUCK!”

Ragna, the once-unknown-hero-now-forgotten was confused as all hell. I mean, seriously! What the hell is going on!?

To recap events, Ragna had not only sacrificed himself to save this planet, but had also reconciled with the only people he could call (Alive) family. And he thought that he’d all but vanished.

So for the love of god (or lack thereof).

WHAT THE HELL WAS THIS?!

It seemed nobody even remembered him. Usually Kokonoe would throw some silly- actually more like aggressive- phrase at him as a greeting. She didn’t even look at him with an ounce of clarity, like she’d completely forgotten him.

This lead him to two conclusions. 1. He had succeeded in removing himself from the world and forming a new one. 2. He was somehow back in it.

Y’know, as much as Ragna’d like to question it, he had to check on something.

Whether his remaining family was doing well.

“HEY YOUUUU! SLOW YOUR ASS DOWWWWNNNNN!!!”

Oh shit. It was Kokonoe and Tager.

She didn’t take well to strangers, so he’d probably need to pick up the pace unless he wanted to be turned into a frozen fish fillet.

Well, off he goe- *SMACK*

‘Did I just run someone over? SHIT! Wait, was that butt floss?!’ Maybe he’d gone too fast. All he could do was watch as she tumbled down towards the Ikarugan village.

... I should probably help her, but I’d rather not turn into ice cream… Eh, I’m sure somebody’ll help her eventually…”

Noticing Kokonoe catching up, he took a detour and headed towards Ikaruga village, where he plan to hid himself.

Wait, is that a bar?

Eh, Good enough.

Deciding that walking into a bar would be the best course of action, as he could use the crowd to escape. Surprisingly, it was pretty peaceful in here. There were both men and women drinking inside, enjoying their time whether it be because they were on break or had just finished a night shift, or even just passed out in the corner. Well, it was mostly quiet except for the sight of a midget little girl- No, a literal child- sitting on a stool, demanding alcohol claiming herself to be a dwarf.

She stood out even with her hood on, partly because of her hair which coloured itself yellow with a slight shift of pink in the middle- No wait, that was just the hairs shadow. It was THAT big. It split off into two- no wait, Four ponytails: Two small ones at the top and two comically sized one’s going down, all of which had a blue ribbon at the end of them; None of that distracted from the absolutely comical magic wand she strapped on her back.

And of course she was being told no, because Y’know, she’s a child. T’was just the Nature of Platinum the Trinity.

‘Gah, it’s Luna right now, isn’t it?!’

“…Luna?”

“Hmm?!?! Who the hell’re you!? You trying to start a fight mister!? Well, bring it on!!”

He may need to tactically dispose of her. Maybe hire a babysitter, or something of the sort before she got lost and wreaked havoc (I mean he could just fight it out, but also, Child). Actually, he might know just the guy for taking care of young children responsibly… as responsible as that man could get.

“…*Sigh* Look, I know a good spot where you can find some unicorns, okay?”

“…You drive a hard bargain. Now c’mon, show me the goods”.

Ragna, just roll with this.

*CLUNK**CLUNK**CLUNK*

“Oi, we need some wood over here!”

“Does anyone have a spare hammer?! I lost mine!”

“HEY! WATCH YOUR STEP!”

Clunking and clattering scattered across a wide, lively community. A community stood upon the stilts of blood and sweat and tears and, houses on stilts. The market was busy today again, whether it be business or the re-construction of this loving community. This city of Ikagura was a large, wide, and an ever-remaining creature that had been through the harshest of times, harshest of wars, yet still stood tall and strong.

Something that could well describe the leader of this city.

The bringer of Love and Justice, the masculine, scruffy hero who tried his very best with everything asked of him, the one with a will far surpassing his intelligence! The ninja who stood upon those stilts with all the others.!

The man leading these stilts to a new civilization!

Bang Shishigami. The man running this city, this state, and leading the people before him! This man! He was…

…preparing to attend a child’s birthday party.
