Chapter 1: Tommy wakes up.
Chapter Text
Tommy woke up with a sharp pain in his entire body and the first thing he saw was technoblade sitting by his bed.
"Oh, you're finally awake! Thank god, how are you feeling?" he smiled softly. "Do you need anything? Dream's outside right now so he can get you whatever you need, and dont try getting up. I know you're stubborn but you need rest. you literally almost died.." Techno said, a bit of sterness in his voice, but thta was normal, what shocked him was the fact that Techno was smiling.. He had never exactly smiled before. At least, not infront of Tommy.
Tommy slowly sat up, and looked over at him as his body hurt badly and was practically screaming at Tommy to lay back down "Ugh...w-what even happened..?" Tommy asked, a bit disoriented.
Techno was shocked that Tommy would try sitting up, he gently pushed him back down. "You need to lay down dude, I'm surprised you're awake at all. And what happened is you got attacked, I won't get into detail on that but you need to rest. I won't let anyone come in here and disturb you."
"Ah.. fine.." Tommy huffed and he laid down more comfortably. "It was that mad Quackity again, wasnt it..?"
He looked surprised. "How the hell did you guess that? But yeah it was."
"Well, theres no one else that has an absolute hatred for dream and everyone on Dream's side so.. it was kinda obvious." Tommy said and he looked away for a bit, before looking back at Techno.
"You're right, that guy is a pain in the ass." he said, annoyed. "I don't know why he won't leave us alone..."
"He wants that damn revival book from dream doesnt he..?" he sighed again "Why does he even want it? does he plan to take one of someone's lives or something?"
Techno nodded. "He's an insane psychopath, he's so desperate for that book I think he might kill someone. He wants it because he wants to be able to have control over our lives."
"Yeah.. God i just wish we could back to normal. When it was just friends pranking each other... and potencially commiting crimes." Tommy chuckled and looked at Techno.
“Yeah, me too.. things have gotten so out of control.” he looked towards the window “The server’s gone from a place where people can relax and have fun to a world of death, pain and heartbreak..” he shuddered . “I guess that’s how things are now, huh?”
"Mhm.. but hey, at least we have each other right? I mean, i've got the bloodgod himself on my side so.." Tommy smiled a bit
Techno chuckled. "You're right, if it weren't for you guys I don't know what would've happened. You guys are like my family, the people I can rely on. Thank you, for everything." he smiled and ruffled Tommy's hair.
Tommy scoffed "Oi, i'm not a kid you know!" Tommy pretended to be annoyed but in reality, he loved it when Techno ruffled his hair.. he'd never admit it though. Of course not.
"Oh come on.. you look so cute when you get pissed." he was clearly enjoying this.
"Oh fuck off-" Tommy looked away from him but a small smirk was on his face
He couldn't stop laughing at this, he laughed for a good minute before finally calming himself down again. "You know what? That just made my day, seeing you pissed off, its adorable. You're so easy to annoy, it's funny"
"Piss off! I'm not fuckin' adorable! I'm a big man!"
"Yeah yeah, you are." He giggled, his face turned to a grin. "And there's nothing you can do about it, so just accept that you're a precious little bean!"
"I am not!" Tommy weakly punched his shoulder
"Aww, look at you. You're so upset" He laughed "You're so cute right now. Oh my god. I can't take much of this or I'll pass out, you're just too sweet." he ruffled your hair again.
"Hmph. You're such a dick." He pouted and puffed his cheeks as he looked the other way
"You're trying so hard not to smile, you're just adorable" He could tell Tommy was trying really hard to be annoyed and he laughed again. "You're like a kitten."
"Yeah? well kittens can be feral and can bite."
"I'd love to see you try and bite me." he chuckled, he was clearly having a lot of fun with this. He loved getting Tommy all riled up. Tommy was always trying to be so tough so it was amusing to him.
"You're on!" Tommy took his arm and bit him, it was an effective bite since his canines were actually really sharp for some reason...
"Ow! Jesus christ! I should've seen that one coming." He looked down at his arm, it was pretty deep. He looked back at him. "Wow, you aren't kidding. Those are some sharp teeth."
"Told ya! Thats what you get!" He stuck out my tongue at him mockingly
He laughed "Oh yeah? How about this then?" Without you expecting it, he quickly turned around and bit his shoulder and, like Tommy, his teeth were pretty sharp. It stung. "How does that feel?"
"Oh Fuck!" He pouted a bit and rubbed his shoulder.
"Does it hurt?" he said with no emotion, he seemed a bit proud of himself. "That's why you don't mess with bloodgods" he laughed again, he obviously enjoyed that a bit too much.
Tommy thought for a bit and got an idea, he looked up at him with tears in his eyes, they were fake but he made it look real
He tilted his head, obviously confused when he saw the tears in his eyes. "What..? What is it? Are you okay?" He said frantically, slightly worried that he seriously hurt him.
Tommy burst into giggles "Gotcha! I always get the last laugh after all!" He giggled a bit more.
He laughed "You- you little liar! I thought you were genuinely hurt.." He looked a bit annoyed, he really believed him. " How do you always seem to get the last laugh?"
"Hehe! A magician never reveals his secret!" Tommy smiled mischievously
“You little sh-.“ he stopped himself. “Well, I guess that’s just how it is, huh..?” He rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed but he was still trying to hide it.
He stuck out his tongue at him like a little child.
"You're so adorable, you act like a kid" He chuckled, he ruffled Tommy's hair again. "You're just like Wilbur" He thought for a second. "Actually, you're worse than Wilbur." He joked.
"I'll take that as a compliment!" he giggled a bit and tried to sit up again forgetting he was still injured, he winced in pain "Owh fuck!"
"Oof, yeah no. You're staying right where you are. I'm not risking anything, so just stay quiet and still." He had a serious tone, no more fun time now. "You're too stubborn, I might have to tie you up to stop you trying anything."
"Mmph.. fine.. i wont move.."
"Good, then I dont have to tie you up." He smiled slightly, but then thought of a brilliant idea. "Wait, I have something better." He ran out of the room, he was gone for a minute before coming back with something. "Ah, here it is, a straight jacket!" He smirked as he held the jacket up to him, he was so proud of himself for some reason. He clearly wanted to put Tommy in it .
As Tommy saw the straight jacket, his pupils constricted into cat-like vertical slits "Do not bring that thing near me." he said practically growling as sharp canines were showing.

Chapter Text
He was shocked by Tommy's reaction, he was just joking around. "Woah calm down, it's just a joke! I wasn't ACTUALLY going to put you in it. Here, why don't you have a closer look." He held it out in front of Tommy. The straight jacket was clean and smelled new. It didn't give him good memories. He was staring at Tommy, waiting for Tommy to say something.
Tommy just stared at the jacket as if it were some sort of deadly weapon, Tommy's pupils were in vertical line shape (like constricted cat pupils). As Tommy stared at it the traumatic memory of what Quackity did to him in the prison came back to him, due to that, he startled to tremble uncontrollably.
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongue?" He smirked, he could tell Tommy wasn't too happy with the straight jacket, and that's exactly why he was holding on to it. The fact he had an actual visible reaction only made it better. "C'mon, just try it on to get me to shut up."
As he got closer Tommy only got more defensive and growled like a feral cat as his pupils were still constricted in a line shape and my iris had a red tint to it, He seemed... feral... Techno couldnt help but wonder; What had Quackity done to Tommy to had turned him into this..?
He was shocked by this sudden change in Tommy's demeanor. Tommy scared him greatly. He held back a slight chuckle as Tommy growled at him. This was almost too funny for him too handle, but he was also a little scared by this. "Are you.. okay?" He asked, his voice raised slightly with concern. Tommy seemed traumatized by that straight jacket, almost like Tommy had a phobia of it. He didn't understand what would've made him react this way, but you looked scared and angered
"G-get it away from me..." Tommy said as he crawled back up on the bed a bit, but couldnt move much due to the pain of his injuries. "GET IT AWAY!" Tommy shounted, it was visible to anyone how much Tommy was trembling.
He sighed. "Is.. is this what quackity did to you? Is that why you seem so scared of the straight jacket?"
He said, you could tell by his voice that he was trying to be gentle with Tommy, he was trying to not let his curiosity get the better of him. He didn't want to upset Tommy. He dropped the jacket and stepped back a little bit. "I'm really sorry.. is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" He said, concerned. He was never quick to comfort but.. this time he was.
Tommy didnt reply, he was still trembling, just keeping his eyes on the jacket, even tho it was away from him, he was to petrafied to even speak.
“You can talk to me about anything, if you want.” Techno said before he went silent for a second, not sure what else he could do to help. He was scared for Tommy, but it wasn’t just that. “Would you like some water or food?” he tried to change the subject, to at least take your mind off what had happened to Tommy with quackity.
"N-no.." Tommy said. Suddenly Techno got an idea, he saw that Tommy's behaviour was very much like that of a cat so maybe he could distract him like a cat too?
He thought for a minute about how he would distract a cat.. "Hm.. I got it! *He went to his backpack and grabbed an object.
It was a laser pointer. "I'm pretty sure this will do the trick." He held it up, waiting for Tommy to look.
Tommy tilted his head in curiousity and confusion "What's... that...?"
He smiled, his plan worked.
"See this?" he held the laser pointer up and moved it around. "It's a laser pointer. I use it all the time when I see cats, they seem to go completely nuts over this thing." He said with a grin.
as the red dot moved around, Tommy's pupils constricted once more and all his attention was on the dot as it moved around.
He chuckled, he could tell this was going to be enjoyable. "Now watch this." He kept slowly moving the dot around and then he suddenly stopped it. He sat the laser pointer down on the table. "How about that? Did you enjoy that?" he was genuinely curious about Tommy's reaction, but it was also hilarious to him.
"It stopped moving..?" Tommy kept looking at the dot and slighty tilted his head to the side in curiousi ty.
he laughed, Tommy was just like a cat. "It's so funny to me that you're a human being yet you get distracted by a laser pointer." He picked the laser pointer back up and started slowly moving the dot again. "How about this?" He did a slow circle with the laser dot, he found this very entertaining.
Tommy perked up a bit and he strate dto try to catch the laser, when he though he caught it, the laser just phased through his hand. "..HUH..??"
He chuckled again. "This is too good." he sat the laser point back down and leaned back in his chair, he looked at HIM with a grin. "I'm not sure if I'll ever get bored of this, it's just so cute to me." He chuckled again, he was amused but he was also genuinely happy. He enjoyed this. "You're just so cute when you're like this, you know?" He ruffled your hair a little bit, it was like he had no control over it. He just found it adorable.
Tommy enjoyed it when he ruffled his hair and just nuzzled to his touch completely unlike last time, he could've sworn he might've heard him purr a bit.
He noticed the purring, he smirked and continued ruffling Tommy's hair. "Aw, that's so cute! It's like you're literally a little cat!" He chuckled again and couldn't help but smile. This was just too funny to watch. He continued ruffling Tommy's hair for a little while longer, not able to stop himself. Tommy seemed to respond to these soft strokes, showing a sign of trust.
Tommy kept purring more and more, and he kept getting closer ofr more pets, he was practically clinging onto Techno's arm.
"You're honestly like a pet.. you're not even trying to deny it, are you? What if I do this?" He started giving him little strokes on the side of Tommy's head. "Does that feel nice?" he said, thinking it was very cute that Tommy purred a bit. He continued doing this for a few minutes and then stopped. He was still amused, he had never seen a human behave this way. It was funny, and adorable to watch.
Tommy looked up at Techno. "..Why'd you stop..?" He asked, slightly pouting.
*Techno laughed and he continued to Pet Tommy, eventually, about two minutes later, Tommy was in Techno's lap, soaking up all the pets and affection as Techno petted him, Tommy's purring was really loud now, Tommy was completely clinging onto Techno now, just taking in all the affection.

Chapter Text
Tommy seemed to soon drift into a dreamless sleep. Well it wasn't dreamless for long. Tommy felt like he was falling... Falling.. And Falling..
Finally, he opened his eyes, finding himself in an abyss. A voice, hauntingly familiar spoke out. "Oh Tommy..~ Did you think,... you could just.. Escape? Don't make me laugh."
It was Quackity. His voice rang in Tommy's ears, Tommy's eyes widened as he searched around for someone who wasnt there, he wante dto run but couldnt see a path, it was just pitch black. He took in breaths to try to calm himself but to no avail.
"No no no.. I'm not back there.. I-i know I'm not.. this is just a bad nightmare...." Tommy tried to reassure himself, but it wasn't very effective. He felt a cold hand touch his cheek. A pale complexion, his eyes trailed up the hand of the person to see the face he dreaded most.
Quackity.
Quackity lifted his chin up to face himself, "Little kitty can run alllll he wants, but he can't escape me.. He'll never escape my clutches." Quackity spoke, dark malice filling his voice, a Chesire grin on his face.
Tommy tried to pull away from Quackity's grasp but found himself frozen in place, unable to move. His heart raced as he stared into Quackity's pale, almost ghostly eyes. "P-please... leave me alone..." Tommy whimpered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Quackity just chuckled darkly, his grin widening. "Leave you alone? Oh, my dear Tommy... I can't do that. You see, you're far too... special." He traced a cold finger along Tommy's jawline, making the boy shudder.
"You're the key to everything I've been working towards. A human, on the brink of ferality... it's unheard of! And I won't let you slip away now. Especially once i get that damned revival book.. Then you'll know what true pain is." Quackity's voice was filled with a twisted sense of excitement and obsession.
Tommy felt bile rise in his throat as Quackity's words sank in. He tried to shake his head, to deny it, but Quackity held him firm. "I'm not... I'm not feral... I'm still human..." Tommy insisted, but there was a tremor of uncertainty in his voice.
Quackity threw his head back and laughed, a harsh, grating sound that echoed through the void. "Human? Oh, my sweet summer child... you haven't been human for a long time now. You're something so much more..." He leaned in closer, his breath cold on Tommy's face.
"You're my masterpiece, my Magnum Opus, Tommy. And I won't stop until I've perfected you." With that, Quackity's eyes flashed a wild, manic gleam in the darkness. He tightened his grip on Tommy's chin, forcing him to meet his unblinking stare.
Tommy whimpered again, feeling a shudder run through his body. He wanted to scream, to cry, to beg for help... but no sound escaped his lips. He was trapped, trapped in this nightmare, trapped in Quackity's twisted grasp. There was no escape, no matter how hard he tried.
Quackity's grin only widened, revealing sharp, jagged teeth. "As we speak, do you know what you're doing little cat? You're attacking your rescuer... How sad... I bet once you gain your 'humanity', he'll abandon you.. Then you'll be back to me.."
Tommy's eyes widened in fear and confusion at Quackity's words, his heart pounding wildly in his chest. He tried to shake his head, but Quackity's grip on his chin was too tight. "N-no... that's not true..." Tommy stammered, his voice shaking.
Crystal here, if you couldn't tell, I lied to you. Enjoy~! <3
Quackity just laughed a cold and heartless sound. "Oh, but it is true, my dear. You'll see... once he realizes what you really are, he'll cast you aside like the monster you've become."
He leaned in even closer, his nose brushing against Tommy's, his eyes boring into the boy's violet ones. "And you'll have no choice but to come back to me... back to your true home."
Tommy felt a tear slip down his cheek, followed by another, and another. He wanted to believe Technoblade wouldn't abandon him, but the seeds of doubt Quackity planted were starting to grow.
"No... please... don't say that..." Tommy whimpered, his voice breaking. He tried to close his eyes, to block out Quackity's horrible words, but the scientist forced them open with a finger under his chin.
"Open your eyes, Tommy. Look at me. Look at your savior... your only choice." Quackity demanded, his voice a cold, cruel command.
Tommy had no choice but to obey, to stare into the abyss of Quackity's manic eyes, trapped in a nightmare that felt all too real. He had no idea how to escape, no idea if Technoblade would truly abandon him once he saw the monster he was becoming.
He was utterly at Quackity's mercy, a plaything for the scientist's twisted experiments and obsessions. And the thought terrified him more than anything.
Tommy felt like he was drowning and couldn't swim, fear overtaking him as fell and fell into what seemed like an endless void until he finally seemed to gain consciousness, he took a moment to understand where he was. He was being held down by a ragged-looking Technoblade; he had some scratches on his face, fresh from what he could see.
"W-what...?" he mumbled, confused and shocked. Quackity was right. Tommy had gone berserk while he was unconscious.
Technoblade looked down at Tommy with a mix of concern and confusion in his crimson eyes. He had managed to pin the thrashing boy down, but not without getting scratched in the process. The red marks on his face stung, a reminder of Tommy's feral outburst.
"Easy there, buddy. You're okay, you're safe now," Technoblade said softly, trying to keep his voice calm and reassuring despite the worry etched on his face. "You were having a nightmare, a pretty intense one. But you're back with me now."
He gentled his grip on Tommy's shoulders but didn't let him go entirely, knowing the boy might startle again if given the chance. Technoblade's brow furrowed as he noticed the fear and confusion in Tommy's violet eyes.
"What's the last thing you remember, Tommy?" Technoblade asked carefully, wanting to understand what had set off the boy's feral episode. He needed to know if Quackity had somehow reached out to Tommy through the dream realm, twisting the poor kid's mind even further.
"...T-techno... He said... he said you'd leave me... You won't leave me, right? You'll stay with m-me, right? R-right?? Tell me you won't leave me! Tell me- tell me- tell me!" Unshed tears filled Tommy's eyes, and he gripped Techno's arm like a vice, his claws digging into Techno's skin through his clothes, not enough to hurt or draw blood, but just enough to be irritating.
Technoblade winced slightly as Tommy's nails dug into his arm, the pressure irritating but not painful. He could see the desperation and fear in the boy's teary eyes and hear the urgency and panic in his voice. Techno's heart clenched at the sight, hating to see Tommy so vulnerable and afraid.
"Shh, hey... hey, it's okay. I'm not going anywhere, alright? I promise you that," Technoblade said, his voice soft and soothing as he cupped Tommy's face with his free hand, his thumb brushing away the single tear that had slipped free.
He held Tommy's gaze, his mismatched eyes filled with sincerity and determination. "I gave you my word that I'd keep you safe, and I meant it. I won't abandon you, Tommy. Not now, not ever."
To emphasize his point, Technoblade shifted his grip, pulling Tommy into a tight embrace, one arm wrapped securely around the boy's back while his other hand cradled the back of Tommy's head. He pressed their foreheads together, nose to nose, so there could be no mistaking his honest intentions.
"You're stuck with me, kiddo. I'll stay by your side through thick and thin, no matter what. Quackity's just trying to mess with your head, make you doubt the people who care about you." Technoblade's voice was low and fervent, filled with quiet intensity. "But I won't let him win. I'm here for you, Tommy. Always."
Tommy just glanced away for a second before he looked back at Techno and instead of seeing Techno's softened face comforting him, he saw a deadpanned scowl on Techno's face.
"I lied. I'm not here for you. I will never be here for you." Techno said, his words stinging like a whip. Tommy was taken aback
"W-what..?" He stuttered out, his bottom lip quivering. Just a second ago, techno was promising him, how did he change so soon? What was going on? Technoblade's face hardened, his heterochromatic eyes flashing with a cold, uncaring light. The warmth and sincerity from moments before evaporated, leaving behind a chilling indifference.
"I'm here for one reason and one reason alone - to use you. To exploit your abilities for my own gain." His voice was flat and emotionless, each word hitting Tommy like a physical blow. "I don't give a damn about your feelings or your well-being. You're just a means to an end."
Technoblade's grip on Tommy tightened, his fingers digging into the boy's back hard enough to bruise. He yanked Tommy's chin up with his other hand, forcing the terrified boy to meet his deadpan, scornful glare.
"Get it through your thick skull, cat. I. Am. Not. Your. Friend." Technoblade enunciated each word with biting clarity. "I'm not here to comfort you or be your emotional crutch. I have a mission, and you're going to help me complete it, one way or another."
He released Tommy roughly, shoving him back and standing up in one fluid motion. Technoblade looked down at the cowering boy with a mix of contempt and disgust, his arms crossed tightly over his chest.
"Quackity should've kept you back at that lab. You never deserved to be saved, you ungrateful wretch."
Tommy's breath hitched, the waterfall of tears freeling rolling down his cheeks as he looked at Techno, horror in his eyes "What-what are you saying- Stop! Please stop!"
Tommy recoiled as if Techno had slapped him, shock and anguish etched across his tear-stained face. His violet eyes, usually so bright and full of life, now shone with unspeakable hurt and betrayal.
"No, no, no... Techno, please, you can't mean that!" Tommy cried out, his voice choking with emotion. "I thought... I thought you cared about me. That I was more than just a weapon to you!"
He scrambled backwards on the bed, putting some distance between them as he shook his head in desperate denial. The movement sent tears flying from his cheeks, glinting briefly in the dim light before disappearing onto the dusty ground.
"Please don't say those things, Techno. Please don't push me away," Tommy begged, his small hands coming up to clutch at his chest as if trying to physically hold himself together against the onslaught of pain.
His eyes searched Technoblade's face, desperate to find any shred of the warmth and care he'd seen before, but found only cold indifference staring back at him. The realization that Techno might truly abandon him, that he'd been right all along to fear this moment, shattered something deep inside the boy.
Techno stepped forward, one step, then another. He gripped Tommy's shoulder tightly with one arm, this tiem Tommy could feel it harder- bruising, a vice like grip, the other up pulled back as if charging up to punch Tommy. Tommy's breathing picked up teh pace but he was frozen in place, his eyes wide open in fear, but he couldnt move, it was just he had lost all strength in his body to move. He was just going to take it.
He deserved it didn't he?

But instead of a punch coming his way, a splash of water came his way instead. He shook the water again and rubbed his eyes. When he looked up, Technoblade's face shifted away from Hateful to concerned again.
"You okay there now..? You zoned out and started to say... well.. You were scared.." Techno said, trying to not sound as concerned but his voice was wavering.
Tommy blinked rapidly, shaking his head and rubbing his eyes to clear away the lingering tears and confusion. He looked up at Technoblade with a mix of lingering fear and cautious hope in his violet eyes.
"I... I don't understand..." Tommy whispered, his voice hoarse from crying. "A minute ago you said... You said you lied. That you didn't... that you weren't..." A shuddering breath escaped his lips as fresh tears threatened to fall.
He searched Technoblade's face intently, trying to reconcile the cruel, hateful expression from before with the current one. The concern and gentle demeanor were back, but Tommy was no longer sure what to believe.
"Did you mean what you said, Techno? Or was that just..." Tommy swallowed hard, dreading the answer but needing to know the truth. "...was that just another lie?"
Technoblade's brow furrowed as he noticed the lingering fear and uncertainty in Tommy's eyes. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration. It was clear he struggled with opening up, with showing vulnerability.
"No, I... I didn't say anything, Tommy. I was just going to ask you if you wanted anything to eat and you just started to cry and plead... Tommy... Are you... Did you hallucinate me saying stuff to you?"Technoblade looked at Tommy with a mix of confusion and growing concern, realizing something wasn't right. He leaned in closer, studying the boy's face intently.
"Damn it, Tommy... Did you just imagine me saying all those awful things? Is that why you were crying and begging me to stop?" His voice rose slightly, a hint of panic creeping in as the realization hit him.
He gripped Tommy's shoulders tighter, shaking him slightly to snap him out of the apparent trance. "Answer me, Tommy! Did you hallucinate our conversation just now? Because if so, that's... that's not good. That's really fucking concerning."
Technoblade's mind raced with troubling possibilities. If Tommy was starting to imagine things, to conjure up false conversations and accusations... it could only mean one thing. The boy's mental state was deteriorating rapidly, the line between reality and fiction blurring dangerously.
He had to act fast, had to find a way to pull Tommy back from the brink before the delusions consumed him entirely. But for now, he needed the truth, needed to understand the extent of the damage.
"Talk to me, Tommy! Tell me exactly what you think I said, and when you think it happened. We need to get to the bottom of this, and fast."
Tommy just stared at Technoblade, tears streaming down his face, shaking his head slowly. His violet eyes were wide with confusion and fear, staring blankly at Technoblade.
"I... I don't know..." Tommy whispered, his voice small and distant. "I thought... I thought you said..."
He trailed off, his brow furrowing as if trying to concentrate, to remember. But the harder he tried, the more the memories of Technoblade's cruel words seemed to slip away, blurring together until they were indistinguishable from the countless nightmares that plagued his mind.
"I... I'm sorry... I can't remember..." Tommy said, finally, his voice breaking on a sob. He covered his face with his hands, his slender shoulders shaking with the force of his crying. "I...i don't know what's re..real anymore, Techno. I don't know if I can trust my own m-mind."
He looked up at Technoblade with a face streaked with tears, his eyes pleading. "Please... please don't leave me, Techno. I'm scared. I'm so scared. I don't want to be alone again. I can't... I can't go back to the way things were before. Please..."
Tommy's words dissolved into incoherent, anguished sobs as he clung to Technoblade's shirt, desperate to anchor himself to the one person he thought he could count on. The fear of being abandoned, of being left to face his demons alone, consumed him utterly.
Technoblade felt a wave of concern and protectiveness wash over him as he watched Tommy unravel before his eyes. He knew he had to act fast to pull the boy back from the edge of despair he teetered on.
He wrapped his arms around Tommy, pulling him into a tight, comforting embrace. One hand cradled the back of the boy's head, pressing it gently against his chest, while the other rubbed soothing circles on his back.
"Shh, it's okay, Tommy. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere," Technoblade murmured, his voice low and calming. "You're not alone, kiddo. I promise you that."
He held Tommy close, letting the boy's tears soak into his shirt as he rocked him gently. Technoblade's heart ached at the feeling of Tommy's slender body shaking with sobs, at the desperate way he clung to him as if he were a lifeline.
"Listen to me, Tommy," Technoblade said, his voice taking on a note of quiet authority. "Whatever you thought I said... it wasn't real. You imagined it, maybe because you were scared or tired. But it wasn't real, you hear me?"
He pulled back slightly to look Tommy in the eye, his heterochromatic gaze intense and earnest. "I am not going to abandon you, Tommy. I gave you my word, and I keep my promises. Always."
Technoblade brushed away the tears from Tommy's face with his thumbs, his touch surprisingly gentle for such a large man. "You're stuck with me, kiddo. Through thick and thin, through good times and bad. I'm not going anywhere, so you don't have to be afraid of being alone again."
He cupped Tommy's face in his hands, his gaze softening with a rare display of vulnerability. "You're not alone, Tommy. You have me. And I'm not going to let you face anything else alone ever again. I swear it."
*Technoblade pulled Tommy back into his embrace, holding him even tighter as he felt the boy's sobs start to subside. He knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy, knew that Tommy's mental state would require constant vigilance and care. But he was determined to see it through, to help the boy find his way back to a place of peace
Techno just held Tommy in his embrace for a solid minute before he made a decision. He hoisted Tommy into his arms, holding him like a child so he'd be comfortable still. "I'm taking you to Phil.. You should be safe and well cared for there with us.."
Tommy clung to Technoblade's shirt, burying his face against the fabric as he felt himself being lifted into the man's strong arms. He could feel the warmth of Techno's body, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, and it brought a flicker of comfort to his anguished soul.
As Technoblade carried him through the tundra, Tommy kept his eyes downcast, not trusting himself to take in his surroundings. He focused instead on the sensation of being held, of being safe and protected in a way he had never truly felt before. Even since the cold was biting and unrelentless, he didn't focus on the cold; he just focused on Techno holding him, keeping him close, protecting him.
Soon, a cabin appeared in the distance; it was his and Philza's shared living space. Pushing open the door to the cabin, Technoblade carried Tommy over to Philza's bedroom and laid him down gently, his hands lingering on the boy's shoulders for a moment before pulling away.
Phil looked up from his desk, concern etched on his face as he took in the sight of Tommy's tear-streaked cheeks and red-rimmed eyes. "What happened?" he asked, already moving to stand at Technoblade's side.
Technoblade shook his head, his expression grim. "I think... I think Tommy might be hallucinating, Phil. He had an episode, started crying and begging me not to leave him. Said I'd said some awful things to him, but... I don't remember saying any of it."
He glanced down at Tommy, his eyes softening with worry. "I want you to keep an eye on him, make sure he's okay. I'm worried about his mental state, and I don't want him to be alone right now."
Phil nodded solemnly, patting Technoblade on the shoulder. "Of course, Techno. I'll take good care of him, don't you worry."
He turned to Tommy, his voice gentle and soothing as he sat down on the bed beside the boy. "Hey there, little one. You're safe now, okay? Technoblade brought you to the right place. I'm going to take care of you and make sure you feel better soon."
Phil glanced back up at Technoblade, a question in his eyes. "Do you want me to give him something to help him sleep? Might do him some good to rest and process this in his own time."
Technoblade hesitated for a moment before giving a sharp nod. "Yeah... that might not be a bad idea. The poor kid's been through a lot today."
He looked down at Tommy, his expression softening. "Phil's going to give you something to help you sleep, okay? Just for a little while. Nothing else will hurt you here."
Turning back to Phil, Technoblade said, "Make sure he's comfortable. Keep an eye on him, and... let me know if anything changes. I'll be back to check on him soon."
Technoblade gave Tommy's shoulder one last gentle squeeze before turning to leave, pausing at the door to glance back at the pair on the bed. "Thanks, Phil. I owe you one." With that, he slipped out, leaving Tommy in the capable hands of his friend.
Phil smiled warmly at Tommy, his eyes filled with kindness and understanding. "Alright then, big man, let's get you sorted out. I'll make you some tea and some food, and then I'll give you some sleeping medication so you can rest."
Tommy huddled into himself on the bed, his knees drawn up to his chest and his arms wrapped tightly around them. He kept his violet eyes downcast, staring at the white blanket that covered his legs. The soft fabric felt smooth and cool against his skin, a small comfort in the midst of his turmoil.
He listened as Phil moved around the room, the sound of a kettle whistling and cups clinking together. The scent of herbal tea soon filled the air, the soothing aroma of chamomile and honey helping to calm Tommy's frayed nerves.
Phil set a steaming mug down on the bedside table before perching on the edge of the bed, his hand coming to rest gently on Tommy's shoulder. The boy flinched slightly at the contact, but didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned into the touch ever so slightly, craving the comfort and reassurance of another person's presence.
Tommy took the mug with trembling hands, the warmth seeping into his skin and chasing away the lingering chill from his episode. He sipped the tea slowly, the hot liquid soothing his raw throat and the honey sweetness coating his tongue.
As he drank, Phil busied himself with preparing a small tray of food - soft, easily digestible items like soup, knowing that Tommy would need to keep up his strength. He set the tray down on the bed beside the boy, giving him a gentle reminder to eat when he felt ready.
Phil sat quietly, letting Tommy drink his tea and collect himself in peace. Every so often, he would glance over at the boy, checking in on his well-being and offering a small, encouraging smile. He knew Tommy needed time to process everything that had happened, and he was determined to give him that time, no matter how long it took.
When the mug was empty and the tea had been drained to the dregs, Phil took it carefully from Tommy's hands and set it aside. He then reached out and squeezed the boy's shoulder once more, his voice soft and gentle as he spoke. "Let's get some food in you, yeah? I bet you're famished. Here, I'll feed you." He said, lifting a spoonful of soup to Tommy's lips, Tommy blushed from embarrassment at being babied like this. "I'm not a fuckin' child.." he mumbled, but despite that, he didn't move away; he just let Phil feed him, much to Phil's amusement.
Tommy ate mechanically, not really tasting the food as Phil fed him spoonful by spoonful. He felt childish and embarrassed being hand-fed like this, but he was too emotionally drained to protest further. The soup and tea seemed to calm his stomach and soothe his frayed nerves, even if they didn't fill the aching emptiness inside him.
As he finished the last of the soup, Phil took the empty bowl away and set it aside. He then produced a small pill from his pocket, holding it out to Tommy in his palm. "This is just a mild sleeping aid, nothing too strong. It should help you rest and give your mind a chance to process everything in peace."
Tommy eyed the pill warily, hesitating for a moment before accepting it from Phil's hand. He popped it into his mouth and swallowed it down with a final sip of now lukewarm tea, grimacing slightly at the bitter taste.
Phil smiled encouragingly as he watched Tommy settle back against the pillows, the medication already starting to take effect. The boy's eyelids grew heavy, his violet eyes struggling to stay open as a sense of calm and lethargy washed over him.
Tommy's thoughts began to blur and slow, the events of the day starting to fade into a distant, hazy memory. He felt himself drifting, the soft bed and the gentle rocking of his body as he breathed in and out slowly. He felt Phil's hands pushing him down onto the bed and covering him with a blanket. He wanted to mumble out a 'thank you,' but instead, mumbled out incoherent words. Phil just chuckled and patted his head, "Just go to sleep, big man. We'll talk when you get some proper rest."
Tommy drifted off to sleep, but this time, he had no nightmares, nor any dreams, just a dreamless sleep. For once, he got a chance to finally just...
Rest.
As the medication pulled Tommy down into a deep, dreamless sleep, Phil sat by his side, watching the steady rise and fall of the boy's chest. He brushed a few stray locks of silver hair from Tommy's face, his touch gentle and almost loving.
Phil's heart ached for the poor boy, for all he had endured and the trauma he still carried. He knew that Technoblade's presence was crucial for Tommy's well-being and healing, but he also understood that sometimes, Tommy needed a softer touch, a gentler hand to guide him through the more delicate moments.
As Tommy slept, Phil kept watch, his eyes never leaving the boy's peaceful face. He made a mental note to discuss Tommy's condition with Technoblade later, to brainstorm ways to help him cope with the lingering effects of his past and the stress of his abilities. But for now, he was content to let Tommy rest and heal in his own way.
Hours passed, and as the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow through the windows of the medbay, Technoblade pushed open the door and stepped inside. He had spent the day checking on other matters, but his thoughts had never strayed far from the boy sleeping in Phil's care.
Phil looked up as Technoblade approached, a small smile on his face. "He's been out for hours, sleeping peacefully. No nightmares, no disturbance at all. The medication seems to have done the trick."
Technoblade nodded, relief evident in the set of his shoulders as he moved to stand by the bed. He looked down at Tommy, taking in the sight of the boy's peaceful face, the way his lashes fluttered softly with each breath he took.
Reaching out, Technoblade brushed a lock of blonde hair from Tommy's brow, his touch surprisingly gentle for such a large, rough man. He let his fingers linger on Tommy's skin for a moment, feeling the warmth of his skin.
Phil watched as Technoblade leaned down, his eyes softening as he studied Tommy's face. He could see the concern and protectiveness there, the deep well of emotion that the boy had stirred within him.
Turning to Phil, Technoblade kept his voice low, not wanting to disturb Tommy's rest. "I don't want him to be alone tonight. Will you... Will you stay with him? Just in case he needs anything, or if...-"
He trailed off, not needing to finish the thought. Phil nodded immediately, understanding the unspoken request. "Of course, Techno. I'll stay right here all night if I need to. He won't be alone, I promise you that."
Technoblade let out a slow breath, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you, Phil. I owe you one." He glanced back down at Tommy, his expression softening once more. "I'll be back in the morning to check on him. Until then, just... keep him safe. Keep him peaceful."
With that, Technoblade straightened up, giving Tommy one last long look before turning to leave. As he reached the door, he paused, looking back at Phil with a rare moment of vulnerability in his eyes. There was more to this small request, he knew Phil needed someone to take care of right now, especially after having lost Wilbur... He knew his friend needed to care for someone, to feel needed, to feel depended on. Just like before.
As the night deepened, Phil settled into a chair beside Tommy's bed, making himself comfortable for the long vigil ahead. He watched the steady rhythm of the boy's breathing, the gentle rise and fall of the blanket covering his small frame, and felt a sense of peace wash over him.
Hours ticked by, and Phil remained steadfast in his duty, his eyes never straying far from Tommy's slumbering form. Occasionally, he would rise to check on the boy, placing a gentle hand on his forehead to ensure he wasn't running a fever or tucking the blanket more snugly around his slender shoulders.
Eventually, Philza needed to get himself a glass of water. He sighed and got up, 'It'll only take a moment.. It's not like he's running away.' He reassured himself as he got up and stretched, before walking out of the room and to the kitchen.
But unbeknownst to Phil, Tommy may not be running away, but he'd wish he could. Quackity had tracked down Tommy's location. And had been waiting for Phil to leave so that he to take Tommy back. He chuckled darkly as he saw Phil finally leave. That one minute of leaving Tommy alone was the major mistake he'd made. Quackity crawled into the room through the window, taking the unconscious Tommy in tow before he used an enderpearl to make his escape as soon as he heard the door click.
Phil returned to the room a few minutes later, a glass of cool water in hand. As he pushed open the door, he expected to see Tommy exactly as he had left him - fast asleep and untroubled in the bed.
But as he stepped inside, Phil's heart seized with sudden, icy fear. The bed was empty, the blanket thrown back and rumpled. Of Tommy, there was no sign.
"Tommy?" Phil called out, his voice echoing in the suddenly too-silent room. The glass slipped out of his hand and shattered, the shards falling everywhere as he panickedly looked around. "FUCK- TOMMY- WHERE ARE YOU??"
He shouted as he looked around the room, the wardrobe, the bathroom. Yet. No sign of Tommy. It was only then that his gaze fell on the open window and the ender particles left lingering there. "Ender particles...? Shit shit shit- He's been kidnapped... I need to tell Techno-"
He scurried towards the door, but in his haste, he forgot about the glass on the floor, and he cut his foot, the warm blood gushing out of the wound instantaneously.y "Fuck fuck fuck- No time for that...-" He muttered, gripping the doorframe to steady himself. He limped out to the communications table (Communications table meaning as in the server chatbox ofc.) he had, and he typed a message to Techno, urging him to come here instantly.
Technoblade's eyes flashed with fury as he read Phil's urgent message on the glowing screen of the communicator. He was already on his way to Phil's house before he had even finished typing, his heart pounding with a mixture of fear and rage.
He burst through the door, taking in the scene of shattered glass and blood on the floor with a swift, horrified glance. His gaze immediately went to the bed, his heart clenching like a vice as he saw the rumpled, empty blankets.
"Where the fuck is he, Phil?" Technoblade growled, his voice low and dangerous as he turned to face the injured man. He took in the blood on the floor, the way Phil limped and gripped the doorframe for support. "What the hell happened here? And why the fuck weren't you watching him??"
Phil flinched at the accusation in Technoblade's voice, guilt and self-reproach etched across his face. "I... I'm sorry, Techno. I'm so sorry. I only left him for a minute, just to get a drink of water. I didn't think... I didn't think anyone would be stupid enough to try something like this, not here, not with you watching over him."
He gestured weakly to the open window, the glimmer of ender particles still visible in the darkness. "Quackity... he must have tracked him down, must have been waiting for the chance to strike. I'm so sorry, Techno. This is my fault. I should have been more careful, should have known better than to leave him alone even for a second."
Technoblade's hands clenched into fists at his sides, his entire body trembling with the effort of holding back the rage that threatened to consume him. He wanted to scream, to shout, to tear apart the very walls of the room in his desperation and fury.
Phil felt desperation and further panic kick in. How could he fuck up this one simple task? All he had to do was not let Tommy get kidnapped; this was his fault. It was all his fault; he shouldn't have gotten up, he shouldn't have left Tommy alone... Damn his needs, damn it all to hell!
"I...I'm sorry.. I'm so fucking sorry- it's all my fault." He croaked out, his body trembling, his breath getting caught up in his throat. Oh god, it was like Wilbur all over again. What had he done? Phil doubled over, his knees felt weak, he needed to sit down, but he felt like he couldn't move, everything was shaking and blurry with tears.
And at the moment, Techno wasn't paying attention to Philza's anguish. He walked out of the room, his thoughts and mind all a mess, and he wasn't even realizing his surroundings. He ran a hand through his hair, pausing just in the middle, gripping his hair back, his other arm steadied him by gripping a table nearby. He bent over a bit to get his bearings.
"Fucking hell... What can I do now? Where... where do I find him.. Where could that bastard have taken him...? Las nevada? Somewhere in Pogtopia? Where the FUCK!" He erupted, overturning a table, earning a loud crash as the table broke a few of its poor legs (rip table). Just then, it sparked in his head. "Fuck- Phil-" He turned and went back into the room to see Phil in a spiral of his own. He didn't realize how much blood had pooled on the floor by now. Fuck fuck fuck- He'd have to take it slow, take care of Phil first, then find Tommy with a clear head.
"Phil- PHIL- listen to me, it's not your fault, It's not okay?" He said as he squatted down beside phil, gripping Phil's shoulders, shaking him slightly, trying to get some sense into him.Philza looked up at Technoblade with bloodshot, tear-filled eyes. He shook his head weakly, his voice a hoarse whisper. "No... no, it IS my fault. I swore I would protect him, keep him safe. And I failed. Just like I failed Wilbur..." His breath hitched on a sob, fresh tears spilling down his cheeks. "I'm sorry, Techno. I let you down. I let Tommy down. I'm so sorry..."
Techno sighed "Look, you're not okay right now, you're injured and you're not thinking right. I told you, you didnt fail anyone. Wilbur asked you to kill him... And you didnt know Tommy would get kidnapped.." He gently lifted Phil's chin up so he was looking into his eyes. In the most sincere voice he could muster, he spoke, "Please Phil. It's not your fault. It was never your fault..."
Philza looked into Technoblade's eyes, searching for any hint of deception or anger. But all he found was a sincerity and honesty that made his breath catch in his throat. He wanted to believe Technoblade's words, desperately needed to believe that he wasn't entirely to blame for this latest catastrophe.
He took a shuddering breath, his hands coming up to grip Technoblade's wrists as if anchoring himself to the man's strength and conviction.
Techno didnt hesitate any further, he picked up Phil in a bridal carry, taking him out of the room, he sat Phil down on the big armchair close to the fireplace. He then walked to the potion pantry, but paused. He couldn't just shove a regen or healing potion into Phil's mouth; he'll have to help him manually, plus, maybe it'd calm him down more.
Techno instead went to the the kitchen and got a med kit out of the sink cabinet. He went back to where Phil was, sitting on the floor in front of him. He carefully disinfected the cuts, picking sure to pick out and pieces of glass that could be in his feet, he was taking his sweet time, tending to his wounds with care that Phil had never seen before.
Phil felt like he should say something, but he felt exhausted, too exhausted to even think right, too tired to speak the words. So Techno spoke for him. "You lost a lot of blood, you know. You could've bled out, old crow..." He muttered in his gravelly voice, using the teasing nickname as a means to try to lift the mood, though it wasn't very effective.
Phil let out a weak, breathless chuckle at Technoblade's attempt at levity, but the sound was tinged with a deep weariness that spoke of far more than just the blood loss. He watched through heavy-lidded eyes as Technoblade worked diligently to clean and dress his wounds, the gentle care and attention a balm to his battered soul.
"I know..." Phil murmured, his voice hoarse and ragged. He tried to smile, but it was a poor imitation of his usual warm, comforting grin. The events of the night had taken their toll, leaving him feeling drained and defeated. Techno started to finally started wrapping the bandages around Phil's feet. After finishing doing so, he got a thick blanket from the couch closest to him, he wrapped it around Phil, he cupped Phil's face in his hands.
"Get some rest, okay? You need it. Go on, I'll be here all night."
