Work Text:
Tim looks up from where he’s seated at his desk, his eyes focus on what was outside. There it was in its glowing glory, the moon.
A beautiful thing, a small fickle one for it is thousands upon millions of miles away. It glows and hums in the night, in the polluted skies of Gotham. Tims table lamp shines light across his desk, his clothing is thrown across his floor in at least 3 different kinds of piles in each corner of his room except the one where a singular tall slender mirror sits.
Tim silently brings his hand towards his eyes and rubs its achiness away. It's been nearly 72 hours since he had properly slept, and the 30-minute nap does not count. The clothing he wears rustles against the quiet night as he scratches far above his head, his legs kicked out, and he himself pushes out from the cramp desk that he ought to buy a new one in the future.
His back popped as his shoulders made a loud cracking noise. The Moon laminates the one singular place by his side. It was a beautiful colour to shine, a somewhat watered down cyan. He gets up from his hunched position to walk over to the window. He stares as the city lights shine brightly against the dark and brooding buildings.
He swore he could have caught the eyes of a lone crime lord jumping by. Though he stays quiet. The man has quickly adapted his patrol routines on the days when he couldn't. He reminds himself to send an anonymous health package towards the ex-robin.
He blinks, and the figure has gone away. He smiles idly to himself.
He comes closer to the window, and the wisp of breath catches on his reflection. He squints his eyes to see clearly through the haze.
A figure wearing worn leather jackets flows down unexpectedly.
"Kon?" His name flows from his mouth. A sweet taste was left behind.
The boy in front of him smiles. Dimples on both ends of his cheeks are darkened by the illuminated glow of the moon behind him.
He looked beautiful.
"Hi." Tim said, exasperated.
"Hello." Replied the beautiful boy.
The boy leaned forward, crowding the windows' view. Tim felt his breath lose itself.
Somehow, the moon's direct light makes the warm olive skin that had speckled of stars across his face painted all over the floating Super make him look ethereal. Kon smiles down towards Tim.
Tim's mind echoes the sentiment before. He is beautiful.
"Hey, how you doin'?" He asked, his voice flowing and slightly damped by the closed off window. Tim abruptly was taken out from his gaze under his eyelashes. His cheeks turned rosy pink against his soft and pale skin.
He unlocks the window and slides it upwards. He nods towards Conner. "I- yes." He replied back.
Kon laughed, the sound high and mighty, Kon softly touched down onto the fire escape platform and leaned into Tim's space. "Dude, thinkin’ about something?" He wiggled his eyebrows as he propped his chin on top of his hand.
Tim, who had stepped closer, chuckles. "Not anything related to work, if you're so worried." He said as he reached over and turned his table light lamp off, and the room was filled with darkness.
The soft glow of the moon managed to make Kon's shadow cast over his room floor. "If i didn't spot the laptop and buildup file cases on the bedside table, i would've believed ya." Teased the Super.
Tim huffed. "My bedroom usually doesn't look like a real robin's nest. I can tell you that." Kon cocked an eyebrow. "I smell bogus."
Tim snorted. "What in hell does that mean now?" He asked as he lifted his arm out to lightly touch Kons cheek, his finger grazing his cheek and trails it to the high bones. Kon quickly places his mouth towards the trailing finger and leans out.
"Well, you'll have to come with me to find out!"
"And where are we going, clone boy?"
Kon shrugs jokingly and jumps back onto the fire escape railing. "I can show you the world!" He drags the last word.
"Shining shimmering sple-!"
"Alright! Alright! Don't wake the whole city with your horrendous singing voice already. Some people need their beauty sleep."
Tim cuts the singing off with a laugh as he climbs over his window and out from his Nest. The wind touches his skin, and his hair flows following its tamer. He turns around to close his window softly but clicks the lock that he had placed beforehand outside of it.
It was after a mental debate on whether he should place a lock on the outside only or not, the choice was made after finding out the resident crime lord had stepped in and graciously made himself a grilled sandwich, courtesy of leaving one behind for him.
He straightens and turns around, facing Kon. The other boy already had his feet in the air, his arms placed onto both sides of his hips. He was making what Superman's signature pose would be doing.
"Alright, Superboy, fly me away." He said out loud as he made small steps towards the railing and jumped on top of it. Not even a second his feet touched the railings he was already placed inside of someone's arms.
"Your wish is my command." Said the Superboy.
And fly they did.
Tim watches as his beloved city grows smaller and quieter. He doesn't know where Kon is taking him, but he wraps his arms around his neck and places his cheek on his collarbone. He watches as their surroundings change colours, with trees flying under then, and the moon shines ever so brightly above them.
It was peacefully quiet, and then a voice started to speak, rumbling against his ear.
"So..." He draws out.
"Our anniversary day is soon." He nods against the collarbone.
"Any place in mind, buttercup?" Tim giggled at the chosen nickname for the night. "Seriously?" He said a second later. "You sound so... Arkansas." He snorts."Definitely a farm boy."
Kon made a humming sound. "I thought you loved farm boys?" He asked jokingly."I mean, you're already in the arms of one!" He said as he tightened his grip on Tim. Tim chuckled and only nodded.
"Maybe I like kids that have villains as their dad too." He said as he remembers the first time he had complained - to Kon and before that to Dick - that he always fell for those kids that were either the ward or kids of a super villain. Stephanie Brown was a great example!
"Definitely a type."
"Shut up."
"I wonder how many types you have. Did you ever get to write down a list for it?"
"I will shove my boot high up your ass. Plus it's more of an unfortunate magnet disposal, I always manage to attract them."
Kon chuckled. "Unfortunate magnet disposal, as if."
Tim swaths at the back of Kon's head as he made a noise.
"You're awful, I'm just stating a fact." He whines
"Keep your eyes ahead, or I'll make someone crash. It won't be me."
Kon only smiled as he dipped them towards the ground, slowly decreasing his flight as touching down. The sound of soft glass swaying on itself. "Where are we?"
"Near my house."
Tim looked towards Kon. "If you wanted a sleepover, you could've waited for me to pack my things." Kon shrugged."I mean, it wasn't my intention to buy now that you've mentioned..."
Tim huffed, "you’re unbearable."
"You love me."
Yes, I do.
Tim watches as the wind picks up and slowly backs down. He was transfixed with the way the grass was moving. He always wondered what it would feel like watching them every night.
From the corner of his eyes, he could see Conner smiling ever so lightly, the moon behind him once more. He wonders idly if the moon loved him as much as he did. The moon decided tonight that the boy behind him was its earth. Revolving around him as the gravity pulls them around.
He couldn't help but feel like the moon.
He turns his head and looks towards Kon, catching him in the act of holding his phone up - since he did, he brought it out - and taking a photo. Kon only gave a dazzling smile. His pearly white teeth show.
Something in Tim's heart swelled, and it twisted rather playfully. He coughed and looked away. "Awe, don't be shy."
He spluttered. "I am not!"
Tim felt arms wrapping itself around his waist and a chin placed upon his shoulder. "Is the Robin shy of feeling emotions?"Tim held one out of the two arms that encircled him. "It's 3 in the morning. Give me a break."
"It's 4 am. Technically."
"Same thing."
Kon only hummed as he stood by, his chest pressed against Tim's back. A steady wall of Kryptonian. They let the wind make it sounds and listened to its song.
And the silence was broken once more.
"This was the place Clark's spaceship hit the earth."
Kon said quietly. His words were loud but had a soft hint beside Tim's ear.
"Why bring me?"
"Well..."
Tim waited Kon's response, feeling the way Kon's finger wiggled against his stomach and in his hands. "He was given a second chance. To live and have a life."
Tim hummed for him to continue.
"Well, it's like. He found earth, or well his ship did." Kon said. "Raised and bred for farm boy life." Tim chuckled.
"I couldn't help wondering when I would be given the same chance." Kon breathes. "I didn't need to, I saw you, and I've known ever since."
"When did you become such a sap?"
Kon pulled away and turned Tim around, holding his elbows." I wouldn't mind, if in another life, timeline or place, we were moving hay stacks and feeding cows together."
He says earnestly. Tim stares at the boy in front of him. He slowly reaches up towards Kon's leather jacket and pulls him down. So that they were face to face. Tim's smile is benign. "We can always run." He says, Kon choked a laugh. "Tim, don't even."
Tim chuckled as he leaned closer, his lips gently ghosts against the others. "Come on, it would be fun." It was Kon's turn, and he moved forward, his hands that were holding Tim's elbows quickly finds it perch behind Tim's back, and the back of his neck.
The kiss was gentle, but utterly felt like the sun was pouring its delightful rays of shine against both of their lips, like honeyed butter, with little daffodils. Their lips move againts each there, soft againts rough. Tim widened the opening of his mouth, and Kon didn't stop to plan before he was already tasting the 7 shots of espresso and a tinge of sugary doughnuts.
Tim huffed through his nose as Kon deepened the kiss, slowly arching Tim's back as he leaned over. Over five seconds later, Tim pulled away, being human meant he needed to breathe. He wishes at the back of his mind that Kon was the only oxygen he needed.
"You're a goddamn betty."
Tim chuckled. "Thank you,I try."
Kon snorts as he leaned forward to lay his forehead against Tim's soft curly hair trapped between them. Tim closes his eyes as he heavily leans onto the boy properly, trusting - with his whole heart - that he would stand him strong.
"Can we do it again?"
Tim laughed. "Stop asking, just take it."
Kon's smile crinkled the skin under his eyes. "Well, for that, we need a bed." Tim thumped his fist against Kon's chest. "Kon, I swear to god." Kon laughed again. It's airy and short. "What? I can't be truthful?" He asked. Tim shakes his head.
"I've made you too honest of a man."
Kon chuckled. "Which is really not surprising." Tim blinked his eyes open and stared onto Kon's, "Then let me be honest, too. Let's run away and hide ourselves from the heavens." Kon blinked. "Was that a quote from Queen Charlotte a bridgerton story?" Tim eyes sparkles."You know me so well."
Kon laughed, loud, and boisterous.
"I love you, you zeek."
"I, to you too.”
