Chapter Text

On June 4th 1986 

"ugh I wish I could stay in bed I already feel sore and I wont even be able to stay in my comfy bed stupid inheritance"

Draco mumbles and starts to get ready putting on one of his more casual robes and heads down to the dining room

"Morning Mother, Father" as he sits down in his seat and waits for his father to eat as he is the head of the house 

"Morning dragon" Narcissa warmly smiles at him and goes back to eating her breakfast and working on her newest charm

"Draco your finally awake are you excited to find out what ###### you are" He looks over at Draco while reading the daily prophet

Lucius finally starts to eat while awaiting his son's response                                                                               

"Father I was reading about how some ###### can be combined by the parents genes like ##### ###### or an ######### ###### but that's really rare so I'm expecting to be a ##### ###### or maybe I won't be a ###### at all".

"Hmm while this conversation is very intriguing you do still have things to do today so eat up it will be a busy day for you"

"yes father"

Time-skip to midnight of June 4th 

"I know that isnt the most comfortable spot however it is the most practical incase your creature feels threatened and so that you dont accidentally hurt anyone pippy will be the one you call for once your inheritance has finished."

"I understand father, one more thing father I have a feeling my mate will be a guy I hope that doesn't upset you or mother."

"Draco regardless of who you love you will always be my son now I have to go I'll come back once its over try to get some sleep you'll need it." and lucius leaves and the door locks behind him wards are fully activated 

" I was born around 1am so I have more than likely around 45 minutes of sleep but i should still try" he tosses and turns for all 30 of those minutes only getting 15 minutes of sleep. Draco starts screaming almost as soon as it was 1 he feels weight on his upper back and lower back, his teeth started getting sharper, his gray eyes soon changed to a light coral color he doesn't have claws but he does have scales all around his body this entire process took about 2 hours and by the end of it draco passed out

Time-skip 

When draco wakes up he instantly smelled food and used his magic to place it in front of him to eat and began devouring the food and chugs the water into his system afterwards draco pays attention to what has changed he has a different eye color ,tail, wings, fangs, scales, his height also changed from 5,11 to 7,3 so he spelled his clothing to make it fit his new height he also notices that he has a more lean body and a six pack but overall he's not too muscly thank god he thinks. He calls for pippy "yes young master draco" "I would like to leave please pippy i feel fine" "yes young master draco" he gets side along apparated by pippy to the non-formal living room. 

"Mother, Father"

"Oh my darling your eyes" she says as soon as she got close "they're stunning"

"I cannot believe my eyes my own son is taller than me this is unacceptable!" Lucius teases his only son

Draco and Narcissa chuckle at Lucius dramatics "alright darling I'm headed back home be sure to visit before you Hogwarts" Cissa says and hugs her only son 

"Yes, yes mother I'll find time as I always do" Draco waves his mother off 

"Alright now we have to figure out what you are so get ready and we'll headed off to Gringotts"

Draco puts on a glamour, after changing Lucius side apparates with Draco to Diagon Alley 

"Alright Draco after we head to gringotts we can head to the pet store to see if you have a familiar"

"Of course father" eventually they head into gringotts and ask to take a creature inheritance"Alright I'll need 3 dots of your blood onto this parchment " Draco pricks his finger with the needle and let's 3 drops fall onto the parchment

"Draco your dragon type is very rare plus your a veela I wish luck for your mate." Draco hands the parchment to his father and pay the goblins for their services they head on out to the pet store

Once they arrive Lucius stays back and Draco starts looking around Eventually he feels the pull around the back of the pet store where the cats are and he stops at the Japanese bobtail he reaches out with his magic and the cat is able to help grasp his magic and he feels the pull in the bird section his second familiar is a raven named Augustus

Draco pays for all the supplies he'll need for his familar's Augustus tells Draco he hasn't named the cat yet "oh yeah that's what I forgot thank you" Draco pets the raven as he thinks of a name" You will be called Ignatius little kitty cat"

Lucius ask Draco to tell him what his familar's names are"Well the raven, father is called Augustus and my kitty over here is named Ignatius"

Wonderful names tis a pleasure to meet the both of you now Draco since you took a while I've already got your books but now we're going to head to Ollivander's wand shop as your old wand won't work anymore since you've gotten a creature inheritance ".

Draco walks just a tiny bit faster as he is excited for his new wand he has always liked reading about wand making theory in his free time Alright Draco I'm going to head to knockturn but let me know what wand you get as they stop outside of Ollivander's shop Draco nods and heads into the store " I need a new wand and one that's untraceable". 

"Well let's get started then" because it's been a few hours at the shop due to none of them being his wand eventually harry potter stops at Ollivander's and ask's" Malfoy what are you doing here, well if you couldn't tell potter Im getting a new wand isn't that why your here after all ,uh yes I've recently come into my creature inheritance so I need a new wand, how come your not here with the weasel and Granger? Well apparently they were being paid to be my friends... Draco thinks Ha I was right but says What creature are you? Oh I'm a Phoenix, huh definitely didn't expect that well perhaps we'd come to a truce I'd like to befriend you without any bias, oh really potter "asks cautiously excited yes I think we'd make a great team" Ollivander tells Draco he'll have to make his wand and pulls out the cores whichever feels the strongest to you take understand? "Yes sir " Draco pulls out the veela hair and phoenix feather and the wand is 13 inches hawthorn wood 

"This will be finished around noon and shipped to your estate have a good day Lord Black,Lestrange." Thank you"

Draco meets Lucius at the end of Diagon Alley and requests for his new wand information " I have a 13 inch hawthorn wood with veela hair and phoenix feather father. Definitely interesting combination alright let's head home I know today was rather exciting day for you.

Timeskip to when Draco visits Narcissa and Pandora lovegood 

"Did you pack everything you need unfortunately I won't be able to come with you to the train to Hogwarts but you can go with the lovegood family  

"Yes father I've packed and I understand but it better not happen again understand father"

"Yes I understand Draco now run along I'm sure they're all waiting for you"

Draco yells "Lovegood Manor "and exits the fireplace where his sister,mother and stepmom reside

"Oh hello Draco Luna says it's nice to see you again."

"I've missed you too Luna. Where is Mother and Mom?" 

"Ah mother is currently gardening and mom is in her office working."

"Alright well how has your day been moon?"

"It's been rather peaceful And I'm sure you're aware of my seer tendencies you and your mate are quite the power couple you could say."

"Alright now that's not fair you already know who my mate is.....Has 'lava' visited you yet?"

"No she's rather busy as she got her inheritance a year early so she hasn't visited yet."

"Yearl! Can you put Draco things away in his room please?"." Yes of course young mistress lovegood" Yearl takes Dracos bags and apparates to Draco room to put away everything.

Draco sits at his regular seat on the couch and starts talking with Luna about his creature inheritance and Luna's crush 'lava and Owl'.

"Draco! You do want to find your mate right?"

"Yeah..." "Then get up "Pandora tells him 

Draco yawns as he gets out of bed and changes into the robes he picked soon he gets downstairs

"Morning Mother, Ma."

"Good morning my dragon now unfortunately I can't come with you to the train"

" Draco! Are you excited to find out who you're mate is "

"Honestly ma I'm more worried and nervous than excited". 

"Don't be whoever they are is lucky to have you even if you're spoiled".

"Hey! Ma"!... Draco finally pays attention to his food

Luna giggles at the dramatics of her brother

Draco groans " hey your supposed to be on my side here!!Mother she knows and won't even give me a hint nothing!!"

"Alright Doves let's head out say goodbye to Narcissa and we'll be on our way"

Luna and Draco in sync say "buh-bye Mother dearest"

Cissa chuckles at her children" bye Dragon,Dove"

They finally arrived at the train station and Pandora gives Draco & Luna a long hug telling him to "owl her once he finds out who his mate is" and Luna to "owl every other week now go aboard the train " 

Draco whispers bye ma while Luna calmly say goodbye mama

Draco and Luna head to the back of the train inside they put they're trunks on top " y'know I somewhat envy you Luna because we have to pretend like we're not siblings so I can't say bye ma without raising suspicion and my own mom will never be able to come here unless polyjuice potion " Luna smiles sadly before saying " Your mate isn't one of us" but that's impossible he has to be of wizard-kin if he has a creature inheritance " that's not what I was talking about dray but you'll find out later"

Luna starts practicing spells and soon enough Draco starts reading he's potions book 

Draco and Luna after a while change into their Hogwarts robe

Timeskip

It's after dinner

"Hey dray soo Im a nymph what are you?

A combined Veela & Dragon"

They soon enough make it to their common room and it appears that they missed Snape's annual speech

"Alright Draco let's talk more later tomorrow I'm exhausted" and pansy heads off to her room 

"Huh so my mate is a slytherin but Luna says it's not one of us, she's not talking about it being a muggle maybe my mate is a.....

                        Draco Malfoy POV 

It couldn't be plus even if it was true nothing would change he wouldn't care Draco thinks

Draco does his nightly routine and heads off to bed

Oh...YOU PONCY GIT WAKE THE MERLIN UP DRACO MALFOY Blaise screams into dracos ear

Draco is startled until he sees his best friend Blaise "seriously Blaise" he says annoyed

Yes you have thirty minutes before I leave your sorry ass behind and go to the great Hall

Draco grabs all of his supplies in a hurry and finishes in 27 minutes

"A new record last time it was 29 minutes and 38 seconds"

Draco rolls his eyes too tired to bicker back and forth with Blaise

"Say draco what even is your inheritance I don't think you mentioned it last night"

"Oh umm I'm a shadow dragon and a veela combination"

"Ha! Your creature is literally your name in Latin!"

"And pray tell what's yours Zabini" by this point they had arrived at the great Hall

"Oh I'm a High elf not as rare as yours but definitely different "

"Oh most certainly any clues as to whom you think your mate is"

"Oh yeah I know who it's Theo and he has a fae inheritance so a perfect match eh?"

"Undoubtedly"Draco responds as he sits next to pansy and starts to plate his food

"Oh what classes do you have this time draco " Theodore asks

"Uhh today I have history of magic with the Ravenclaws, herbology with the Gryffindors, arithmancy with the Hufflepuff and potions with Gryffindors"

"Yikes off to a boring start of the day" Theo says

Timeskip to potions

Draco picks the furthest away corner near the slytherins as to avoid the man he's crushing on and waits for Severus to enter the room and because this room is filled with ingredients he can't even attempt to find his mate here... The door Is slammed open and closes by himself as the man in question Severus Snape glides into the room and puts the potion on the board 

"Now thankfully the ones who are here are trusted enough to not cause severe damage or pain to themselves or anybody nearby and with that the potion you'll be making is on the board."

Draco grabs the fresh ingredients as there more potent and helpful than the dried ingredients and get started slicing and dividing now after finishing the cutting section he adds in the water and puts the fire on medium heat and adds in each ingredient and begins to stir when needed.

By the time Severus reaches the slytherin side of the room Draco is finished and puts the potion in a bottle with his name on it and puts it on Snape's desk.

Severus Snape's POV

Id finally arrived to Dracos table for some reason he chose to sit all the way in the back which I must admit surprised me as he usually sits up front however i think I know why.... (flashback starting)I was headed to the goblins before school started when I finally smelled my mate it was peppermint with a hint of green apples I immediately knew who it was without needing to see him but there he was he hadn't noticed me as it was far enough away that there were to many people to noticed however I always a bit more of stronger sense of smell than seeing as I am a vampire after all. (The flashback ended)

I looked at his potion and observed every inch of it "outstanding draco you made a perfect Angels Trumpet Draught (Hogwarts legacy) slytherin get 20 points and you may take your leave as for the rest of you I want an 200 inch essay on why Angels Trumpet Draught is so advanced to make even for potion masters."

Draco POV

Draco has always loved reading wether it was informational, Fiction or historical. So after potions class since he had the free time he decided to learn more about his mates creature to know more about it in case something happens, and while he doubts it he's going to try to find a book on dragon-veela hybrids to see how bad his instincts were going to be as both dragons and veela are extremely possessive over their loved ones and especially their mate.

He uses the spell accio for any hybrid shadow dragon veela hybrid and nothing showed up so he accio to get a book on submissive vampires and starts reading. Vampires in general aren't deadly allergic to garlic and they do not need large amounts of blood to survive, a vampire could live off a single drop of blood for about 3-4 months and a blood bag lasts for at least 2 years. Huh? I'll keep that in mind...Hmm Vampires aren't the possessive type however they are obsessive with their mates. Most vampires know who their mate is as they tend to meet them really early on unless their mate isn't born obviously...What then maybe... Vampires law are allowed to mate once their mate turns of age and isn't forced. That's somewhat surprising but necessary to know.. I'll need to know if my kind are like that..

Hermione's POV
I'm surprised Malfoy hasn't started anything with Ron or Harry, it just seems like he doesn't care about it anymore honestly thank god.. Harry seems to think he planning something but honestly I don't think so he just seems more focused on his own life than making ours horrible..He does have more of a glow to him as of recent why?? Oh that's right j forgot this is the year that some wizard kin start their creature inheritance this year. Hm perhaps he's a veela then it would make sense however fleur said that only females could be veela so that's not likely but he has every other characteristics of them.Ughh I need to focus more on homework now I refuse to be behind.

Severus Snape's POV
I'm well aware that I am allowed to pursue him as he is now of age but I don't want him to come if I tell him.Hes gonna have to talk with me first, hm well see how that goes... Oh my Merlin! You idiot! I quickly evaporated the potion before anyone got hurt. The instructions are on the board so why did you put the beetles in first their the last ingredient. Oh oh you were following the book, this book is so outdated! that is why we follow what I put on the board. Here let me help, get the fire started now your going to put in crushed beetles and then after we add in the...
Timeskip before dinner

Uhh I should probably send them both a letter telling them I found my mate..ugh they're going to tease me soo much when they find out who it is....

Blaise Zabini POV
Theo? Hmm what's up?
Uh well I wanted to see if we could have a date in hogsmead this weekend?
Well what would we be doing? He asks curiously
Well I figured we could have a picnic near the great lake and then we could go for a walk in town, I just want to spend time with you...
of course id love to Blaise! You know picnics are my favorite and well finally have some private time alone.
