Not This Shit Again

Summary:

Myla is normal(ish) girl just trying to live peacefully with her friends when she comes across some ruins. She is transported to the Lord of The Rings (movie) universe, which has happened to her already.

Notes:

you may wonder why it is called "not this shit again". or maybe not.
this is because her story is a modern girl and her friends falling into a fantasy medieval world already and that was the one she lived in when she is transported to LOTR universe (movies).
she is good with a sword cause she was forced to fight in an arena and she also fought in a war. she is 22 and a half, having fallen into the first fantasy medieval world at 17. she fought in the war just before her 22 birthday and did the fighting in the arena not long after she fell into the world.

I wrote this chapter whilst watching the two towers. enjoy

Chapter Text

Myla had walked into the woods to get firewood for the stove when she heard a loud band. Startling, she drew her sword, which she kept with her at all times. Cathuna was going to be disappointed she missed out on the action, if there was any.

She crept the now familiar paths of the forest, before scaling a tree to get a birds eye view. Nothing as far as she could see, which, admittedly, wasn't a lot because of the trees.

Sighing, she climbed down. She kept looking, forgetting to redraw her sword. She came cross some old ruins that definitely were not in these woods before. Cautious, she examined them and carefully climbed them.

"Hello?" she called out, realising this was how every horror movie started, "nope." she said, going to climb off the ruins when a rock moved under her foot and she dashed her head on the rocks.

She shut her eyes to the pain and squeezed them hard, willing a headache to not begin. Myla let out a groan and slowly got up to peer at the sky. Which did not look like that when she closed her eyes. Groaning again, she got up to see where she was. She was surrounded by bodies. Weird ugly ones. But they looked familiar, but she couldn't quite place where from.

She wondered around not calling out for help due to the chance more of these guys were around.

She hear footsteps and snuck up to them. Two tall men were running away from her. A short one following behind. This scene felt familiar to Myla. uncertainty clouding her brain. Could it be...? no... She had read a couple fanfictions.... AND it had happened to her before.

Was she in the Lord Of The Rings universe?

Chapter Text

Legolas was the first to hear her, turning to face her before drawing his bow. Myla felt dread fill her. She knew this place. She knew these characters. Shit.

"Who are you?" Gimli asked, holding out his axe.

Myla sighed, massaging her temples with one hand, the other on her hip. This was bullshit.

"I am Myla", she said, holding out her hand for someone to shake.

Aragorn did so, "I am Aragorn Son of Arathorn, This is Gimli son of Gloin, and Legolas Greenleaf", he looked to his hands and noted the filth that coated them, "I apologise for the state of my hands."

Myla shook her head, happily remembering that her hair was cut short not too long ago. "It's okay, I've seen worse. Before you ask, about me. I don't know how or why I am here so don't ask."

Aragorn frowned, trying to wrap his head around her words. "Walk with us, we are on a time sensitive quest."

"I know. Don't ask. Yet."

Aragorn hummed, before continuing, "How do you not know how or why you are here?"

"It's complicated but it boils down to me being in one world and falling into another. This has happened to me before so I'm more used to it. Still annoying, though", Myla replied.

"Do you know why it has happened?" Aragorn inquired, brow furrowed.

"Not. At. All. Fun, right?" Myla laughed bitterly, tucking hair behind her ear, "I will be joining you because I know future things about your quest that I can't tell you because the fabric of time and space and the space time continuum and things I don't fully understand."

Gimli looked close to yelling.

"What does that mean?" Gimli inquired. He was probably happy he didn't have to look up as far, seeing as she was shorter than Aragorn or Legolas. Wait. She forgot the hobbits. Nevermind.

"Just-", Myla sighed, "I don't care what you say. I need you to trust me. I WANT you to trust me. Please. I don't even know where we are."

Aragorn looked ready to ask more questions but wisely stopped. "So be it, but we have no provisions or anything for you. You have a sword, I suppose you can use it?"

"Ha! Very easily", Myla smiled.

"Very well, we can get you supplies when we find a place to, wherever that may be."

Myla beamed internally at the thought of travelling with her favourite character.

Chapter Text

Myla stared at the grass whilst Aragorn listened to something. She wondered if he could hear worms moving round. She huffed a laugh at that, before remembering to be quiet.

"Their pace has quickened, they must have caught our scent," Aragorn said, sitting up.

"fan-fuckin-tastic ya'll" Myla mumbled, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. now she wished she hadn't had it cut.

"hurry!" Aragorn yelled, running off. Myla ran after him, the amount of running was, frankly, atrocious. She pitied Gimli, she was complaining behind her, Legolas passing her by swiftly. She had to agree with him, she may be athletic, she had a stitch. Probably since the most athletic thing she had done in the half year sincd he war was chop wood. She didn't even get time to marvel at the beautiful views.

They ran for a long while before she spotted something greener than the grass. A pin. She handed it to Aragorn, not even remembering this part of the movie, and prayed they were still on track. Aragorn said something about leaves and falling, she was too focused on the stench sweaty orcs or uruk-hai or whatever they were left behind. (it had been 6 years since she had seen the movies, give her a break).

"they may yet be alive", Legolas said, taking a look at it.

"Les than a day ahead of us", Aragorn replied.

Myla felt like whooping. Finally! Running all the time was boring and exhausting. At least when you walked you could sing. Gimli fell down the hill behind her and she rushed to help him up.

Legolas yelled something back at them that she failed to hear, only hearing Gimlis reply as She and Gimli ran after the two tallest.

"I'm wasted on cross country!", Myla frowned at that, how did he know what Cross Country Racing was?, "We Dwarves are natural sprinters! Very dangerous over short distances!" She could have laughed at their quarrel if it wasn't for the fact she was running. ugh. She needed a foot rub. Maybe if she ever got back; Hattie could give her a one? She could only hope.

They stopped again. "yayyy.." Myla said, sitting down momentarily.

"Rohan...Home of the Horse-lords" Aragorn breathed. Myla would have been confused but she knew a dragon called Remington the eighth who spoke like a cowboy on crack and called himself Remmy. "There's something strange at work here. Some evil gives speed to these creatures. Sets it's will against us", Aragorn continued before taking off again like that one comic character. The one who always wore black. Batman! That was the name. She tried not to thinking about how she started forgetting things from her original modern day life.

"Legolas! what do your elf eyes see?" Aragorn called.

OH MY GOSH. She knew this part! she still remembered the meme song! She waited with baited breath.

"The Uruks turn northeast. They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard"

"They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard! They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard! -Gard-Gard-Gard-Gard", she whispered to herself gleefully. Gimli gave her a weird look.

They continued to run, Gimli saying something about breathing beside her. She agreed. They ran into the sunset like a movie....well....

They continued on, stopping for a rest. They ate a small portion of food each and little talk was said. Myla looked at her companions. She did not know if she would be able to leave this world. She had gotten used to her new life with Cathuna and Hattie and Remington and the others. She couldn't go through the process of having to accept she would never see her family again. It hurt too much. Taking the first watch meant she could cry quietly while the others slept. which she did. Tears dripped down her face. She might never again hear May teasing Alecto about her painting skills. Never again would he play cards with Remmy or watch Hattie do Cathunas hair every morning after breakfast.

She let out a small sob. "Myla?" she heard Aragorn call

"'m okay", she mumbled.

"Are you?", Aragorn inquired, coming to sit next to her.

Without thinking, she leant into his shoulder, breaking out into sobs. It all came out in one big ball of soggy sadness. About Cathuna and Hattie and Remington and May and Alecto. How she missed them and feared she may never see them again. Aragorn let her cry out her worries and concerns. Before opening his mouth to speak.

"It is true, you do not know what will happen, but you can hope, and that is very powerful. I do not know if we may find Merry nor Pippin but i hope we do because they are my friends and matter to me. Get some sleep", He said quietly, giving her a gentle push toward his bedroll, since she lacked her own.

They heard a horse whinny and the foursome ran to hide in some rocks. The horses charged past, riders on them in armour. Aragorn got up

"Riders of Rohan! What news from the mark?" He yelled.

The horses circled them, Myla shrinking in, she hated being around more than a couple horses at once. Too many horses reminded her of the charging and death at war.

"Spears... fantastic", she sighed.

They all parted so one could ride up to them.

"What business does an Elf, a Man, a Girl, and a Dwarf have in the Riddermark?'

Myla couldn't tell him shit and let Aragorn do the talking. She loved forgetting the plot. Gimli asked him his name like it was a damn riddle.

The rider dismounted and approached Gimli, Myla's hand creeping for her sword.

"I would cut off your head, Dwarf, if it stood but a little higher from the ground." Myla's mouth fell open at that. He brought height into this! He was screwed!

Her point was proven when the man came face to face with an arrow aimed by Legolas. Aragorn pushed his arm down and turned around to speak.

The man- who Myla could not remember the name of for the life of her- spoke with Aragorn and he told of the possibility of Merry and Pippin being dead, gave them two horses, and left.

With Gimli on Legolas' horse and Myla on Aragorn's, they were off. They rode till they came to a pile of smoking Orcs (were they orcs or uruk-hai? She still did not know) and the stench of them too.

"Ugh, that is Foul', she commented, dismounting. She threw a disgusted look toward the pile of dead orcs. She knew Merry and Pippin were alive. Did she tell them? Or not? To tell or not to tell?

Gimli found a belt and Aragorn kicked an helmet. Did he break his toe in this universe too? That would have been real inconvenient, but he seemed okay.

"we failed them", Gimli said.

Myla felt like it was too late to say now that they were alive.

Lucky for her Aragorn found the trail and started telling them what happened. Could he really tell all that from some scuff marks? Even the royal tracker was not that good. Wow... now she had to hope they forgot she told them she was a seer thing. Aragorn led them to the forests edge, all four staring into the dark.

"Fangorn? What madness drove them there?" Gimli muttered. Myla shrugged in response.

The four ran for the horses.

"We follow them", Aragorn basically ordered.
