Cyberheads: Their Models and Histories
Written by: Dia "Paragon" Man
Have you ever wondered about the origins of your Cyberheaded neighbors? Or are you a Cyberhead who wants to learn more about your own head and others?
A great many only know Cyberheads as "Those guys/gals with robot heads" and don't think on it further. There also exist a great many Cyberheads who barely know the roots of their own head! As a Cyberhead myself, It's my duty (And personal wish) to rectify this problem the best way I know how: With a clickbait-title article!
Yeah I know it's cheap but people gotta learn somehow right?
The following pages will first over the basics of every Cyberhead before moving on to the specific models and their origins. If you enjoy what you read, please give this article five stars! Or honestly speaking just do that now cause I gotta make a living and higher ratings mean better pay so please?
Notes:
That's a joke, I'm making no money off of this. Only Kudos this if you enjoy the work!
Chapter 2: General Facts
Summary:
Basics of Cyberheads, and Universal Properties
Chapter Text
So let me be honest: If you're a Cyberhead reading this part of the article, just go to the next page. Nothing here you don't already know.
This is for those of you who still got flesh heads and want to know more about Cyberheads and how they work. I mean, we're not robots, we got organic bodies and everything. So what's the deal?
Cyberheads came to exist due to a mixture of medical invention and pure accident. See, New Amsterdam doctors were already working on the idea of copying/transferring someone's memories into a robotic replica, alongside the idea of prosthetic heads for those who would just be dead otherwise.
But in the AI scene, by pure accident, they successfully made an AI dream. And by studying the makeup of the dreaming AI, they were able to understand both the human mind and make an AI indistinguishable from a human mind. This allowed not only the copying of pre-existing individuals into cybernetic heads, but the creation of entirely new individuals within the same models.
This means your fellow Cyberhead neighbors are one of two things: Either someone who for whatever reason lost their head and had their memories copied into a new head and popped on their old body, or someone born as an AI that was planted onto a body that the original user wasn't, well, using anymore.
(Don't just casually ask them which they are, that's considered incredibly rude.)
As for why there's more Cyberheads on fleshy bodies then there are full-blown robots, the answer is decently simple: We got the brain down, but the nervous system is confusing, and the brain does not agree with fully robotic bodies. Turns out a mind that can't feel, taste, smell, etc. tends to suffer from wild sensory deprivation. It's why most pure robots run a slightly older/simpler AI to prevent such issues.
NOW ONTO SOME CYBER FACTS!
- All Cyberheads are equipped with basic internal antenna and radio systems. It's like a car having a built in radio. This means Cyberheads can tune into the radio with their own heads!
- All Cyberheads can see the same prismatic spectrum of light as humans can. Only specialized or custom models can see in other methods (Such as Infrared, Ultraviolet, Thermal, Etc.)
- Cyberheads can smell! All models come with a basic olfactory system. This is part of preventing that whole Sensory Deprivation mess, but Cyberheads can also toggle it off. Hey, you can hold your nose too.
- All Cyberheads can taste, but they also all require a liquid diet. Basic Hand-Crank powered Food Liquidizers are freely available at any prosthetic clinic, but full appliances or mobile battery-powered ones do cost money. If you're not a Cyberhead and you want to also want to reduce pretty much anything to a liquid diet, go off I guess.
- All Cyberheads still require a full 8 hours of sleep for optimal function. They do not "Fall" asleep, they simply switch off. However, they do still dream! And even when asleep, auditory, olfactory, and sensory input is still recorded so they can still be woken up by alarm clocks or by rude roommates. No they can't turn those parts off. Please don't assume they can.

Recon, Exploration, and Defense
RED Models, Nicknamed "Redheads," are by technicality the oldest known model of Cyberhead. This is because they were not originally made to be Cyberheads. Rather, they were originally intended to be helmets worn by regular flesh and bone-head people.
Intended for Military/Police use (What's the difference nowadays?) the RED Model "Helmet" was intended to protect the user and assist with exploring areas and recording them thoroughly.
However, as they were built within the same time-frame as the first successful memory transplant, they were quickly repurposed into Cyberheads with the intent of military-trained AI. Of course that plan very quickly fell through when it was revealed that Cyberheads were not basic AI or computers but full thinking people with opinions. All sorts of conventions and laws would be broken by forcing what are essentially newborn adults into military and police work, so they were given full citizenship and provided with the same basic amenities any citizen would expect.
A few did indeed join the military and police, but many others went their own ways.
The RED Model is no longer in production. Any "New" Cyberheads with the model are using recycled tech, and with the knowledge that some Cyberheads are made by under-the-table doctors, it's not uncommon to see one with slightly damaged or banged up tech. Of course, they are still citizens of New Amsterdam. Do you really want to be known as the guy who is racist towards a specific model of Cyberhead? No? Then leave them alone, man.
RED Model Facts!
- The name "Redhead" is both a pun on the model name and based on the fact that a majority of the models came in Red or similarly warm colors.
- RED Models are extremely durable, intended for military use. They can take a high caliber bullet with nary a dent!
- RED Models can use their second pair of eyes as night-vision goggles.
- RED Models can tune into certain radio frequencies other Cyberheads can not by default.
- RED Models are hollow! Due to their original intention of being helmets, there is a hollow space large enough to snugly fit a human head within. Several RED model Cyberheads use this space as a sort of secure container for precious items.
A word from the Writer: If you're a flesh head and you find a discarded RED model, please do not wear it as a helmet. Not only do they lack any functionality without an AI installed, but you're likely wearing a deceased person's head. That's like walking around wearing someone's skull. So don't.

Memory Repository and Head Prosthetic
MRHP Models, Nicknamed "Seniors," are the first intentionally created Cyberhead. Intended as both a method of copying someone's memories and replacing the head in case of irrecoverable injury, the MRHP model was a medical breakthrough. Thanks to the discovery of Dreaming AI and the unlocked understanding of the human mind, several individuals were able to be saved from otherwise life-ending injury and diseases through the use of memory upload and head replacement.
As this model was the first of its kind, attempts were made to give it a more "Human" appearance, hence the clear nose and jaw despite neither being necessary additions. As this was also intended for civilian use, it lacks the military hardware found in RED models.
Due to its age, it lacks several features found in more modern Cyberhead models. It is considered very outdated and is no longer in production, as newer models make for better prosthetics. As a result, only the older Cyberheads still use this model, and do so by choice.
MRHP Model Facts!
- The Nickname "Senior" comes from both the age of the model and the age of those using the model.
- This model lacks the built in Antenna found in every other model.
- Despite the visible jaw, which does move when speaking, they still require a liquid diet like every other Cyberhead.
Respect those that have this model, as you should always respect your seniors.

Civilian-Grade Full-Function Head Prosthetic
CGFFHP, Nicknamed "Muffin Top," is the first Cyberhead model made FOR Cyberheads. Combining some of the tech found in RED models alongside the medical intentions of the MRHP model, the CGFFHP was intended not only as a head prosthetic to those who required them, but also to house Cyberhead-Born Citizens.
With the intention of holding AI-born citizens alongside those who would receive the model as a prosthetic, this Cyberhead was the first to hold many of the features considered standard, including the internal antenna, standardized components, and far cheaper cost of creation and repair.
By this point in time, Cyberheads are an acknowledged part of the New Amsterdam Citizenship, These newer models would use standardized components which would allow for easier repair and replacement.
CGFFHP Model Facts!
- The nickname "Muffin Top" comes from the beanie-like headpiece of the model.
- The model is noticeably similar to the RED model! This is because it was built using it as a baseline, though intended for civilian use rather than military/police use.
- The CGFFHP is currently the cheapest model of Cyberhead on the market.

Chapter 6: Hammerhead

Civilian-Grade Aerodynamic Athletic Prosthetic
CGAAP, nicknamed "Hammerhead," is the first known Specialized Cyberhead intended for Civilian use. Built with a sleeker shape, the CGAAP model was intended for athletes and those competing in sporting activities such as sprinting and swimming to have a more aerodynamic frame.
Those who are in the sports scene may know of the controversy that surrounded this model for a few years. Many argued that, unlike the relatively human-head-shaped "Muffin Top" Model, this model provided an unfair advantage to those with the model that was unavailable to flesh heads without considering medical decapitation. Luckily, the creators of this model had considered this possibility. Those looking at the provided picture may noticed the very large neck of the model. That is because the most vital systems, such as the Memory Storage, Central Processing, and Emergency systems are all stored in the neck, while the actual head can be removed and replaced with a second model!
This lead to the CGAAP-CV Model (Not pictured,) a Competition Viable version of the Cyberhead that can be slotted onto the base of the original model. It still provides the necessary functions of a normal cyberhead, but with a more rounded, humanoid shape. This model was judged competition legal, and so athletes need only a short replacement to compete rather than installing a brand new Cyberhead.
The original model is still very popular with non-competitive athlete, such as recreational skateboarders, bikers, skaters, and similar. It's also popular to those who simply prefer the aesthetic alone.
CGAAP Model Facts!
- The nickname Hammerhead comes from the similarities of the original shape and the Hammerhead Shark.
- As stated earlier, most of the important functions are contained within the neck. Those not contained include the Visual, Olfactory, and Auditory sensors. The model is made so that Sleeping is not possible without a proper head attached to prevent sleeping through potential disaster.
- While all Cyberheads are waterproof, the CGAAP was made with hydrophobic material, meaning water and other fluids slide right off.

Chapter 7: Cauldron

Civilian-Grade Internal Blender and Liquifier
CGIBL, nicknamed "Cauldron," is a model with a rather fun history attached to it.
Regardless of Cyberhead model, the organic body still requires nutrients. While taste sensors are easy to do, the human mouth is more than a tongue. It is teeth and saliva, both of which are quite important to properly digesting food for consumption. To date, no Cyberhead manufacturer has successfully been able to properly replicate a human mouth on a cyberhead, meaning Cyberheads require a liquid diet as they have no means to properly eat and chew food.
The CGIBL was an attempt to rectify this problem.
Originally known simply as the Prototype Ingestion Prosthetic, the idea was for the top of the prosthetic to open like a lid and for food to be deposited within. Then the lid would be closed as internal "Teeth" and a basic low-acidity mixture would allow them to chew the food and swallow it as a normal human mouth would.
This was an utter failure.
The first few Cyberheads with this model complained immensely about nausea and headaches as a result of trying to ingest food through this method. It was difficult to tell if the food was properly chewed enough to swallow, if there was too much food to swallow, and reports generally found the act unpleasant. In addition, the low-acidity mixture that was intended to replicate saliva did not agree with some food combination, causing nausea and mild illness. Lastly, the lack of proper lips meant that it was possible to "drool" or "spill" the low-acidity mixture, which was reported as smelling foul and being generally disgusting. Getting spit on you is gross. Getting fake, synthetic spit on you is worse.
The original idea was scrapped, and all current users of the old prototype Cyberhead were given a free conversion to the current model: The CGIBL. The top could still open and food can still be placed within, but rather than try and replicate an organic mouth, it simply has a built in blender to liquify the food into the same sort of mixture all Cyberheads eat. This was considered a massive upgrade to those few who had the Prototype, as now they don't need to worry about needing a seperate blender to eat and the only fluid required for eating is water.
The model is popular nowadays to anyone who genuinely enjoys eating. Foodies, critics, or just lovers of flavor in general. And I personally cannot fault them! Consistency be damned, I still love me a good pizza.
CGIBL Model Facts!
- The nickname Cauldron comes from the general shape and the method on which food is place within. Some models even come in a black/dark gray color, further enforcing the nickname.
- The standard antenna of this model is external rather than internal, due to issues with the signal interference caused by the blender.
- There exist only 17 known instances of the original prototype components. These components are considered collectors items for some reason.

Signal Monitor, Broadcaster, and Display
SMBD, nicknamed "TV Heads," were a model of Cyberhead originally made for those working in the entertainment and/or television industry. Actors, Comedians, News and Weather Anchors, Advertisers, Influencers, Etc.
The SMBD model was first revealed in a spot of the NAN, where the original Cyberhead with the model showed off the broadcasting capability by displaying various videos, faces, commercials, and even the very new broadcast itself within the built in monitor.
Despite being made for a particular industry, there was a massive demand for their availability in the open market for the sheer amount of expression it allows. As a result, it was made commercially available, though it is well known as being a very expensive model both to purchase and repair.
The actual display is made of a durable one-way monitor, allowing the internal ocular sensors to view out of it like a helmet visor. The display itself is able to broadcast a wide variety of images and video. It is possible for a Cyberhead to imagine an image and make it appear on the display, but the result is unrefined and usually unclear. The model is intended for preset images and videos.
It is common for users of the model to have a "Default" expression. Sometimes this is a literal expression, but usually it's a unique symbol the individual associates with. Some even use their displays to advertise, be it their own business or being paid to advertise for others. Those advertising for others for cash are usually not respected by their fellow televised-peers thanks to the artistic and expressionist community surrounding the model.
SMBD Model Facts!
- The nickname TV Head comes from the obvious connection of the model with television sets.
- The model includes a far more sophisticated antenna set up, able to pick up long and short wave radio, television broadcasts, and a variety of other signals.
- The display is far more durable than a television set, being more akin to a car windshield in durability. It is not uncommon however to see the occasional user with a cracked display.
- Due to the proprietary parts, the model is much more expensive to repair than others.
- There is a shockingly similar model in Neo-Japan, to the point where legal action was at one point threatened, but not acted upon.
One extra fun fact: This is the model I own!

(Bro I swear I will pay you part of what the article makes PLEASE calm down.)
Mimic
So, time for me to shoot down an urban legend!
The simply named M Model, the Mimic, is a very new Cyberhead model that was not intended for civilian use. Commissioned by an unknown group, the Mimic model is a modular Cyberhead intended to be incognito.
The default model is best described as looking like a plain white mannequin-esque head. All of its parts are internal, including the ocular sensors thanks to one-way material.
The thing about the model is it's small and compact enough that it can wear regular clothes and helmets over it. Most Cyberheads have a bulk to them that prevent regular helmets, headware, or eyewear to be comfortably worn by them (Not that they need it.) This one does not. The owner of a Mimic model can wear a motorcycle helmet and be visible indistinguishable from a normal person wearing similar.
Then comes the modular parts. Some models exist that have visible eyes made to replicate human eyes as close as possible. Some have (non-functional) teeth.
The entire idea behind the model is to blend in with non-cyberheads without notice. Why? I don't know! I couldn't find any definitive evidence as to who commissioned the model or why, only rumors and hearsay. Nothing publication worthy. But the model itself is not a legend, it does exist.
How do we know this? Because as with various older models such as the RED Model, someone found a discarded M model and decided to plug it into an unused body, creating a new person. This has happened a few times now, so there are a few regular citizens walking around with this suppose-to-be secret unseen model of Cyberhead.
This has caused a strange situation where other Cyberhead producers had to reverse engineer the M Model in order to repair them and make spare parts. The New Amsterdam Police denies any involvement in its creation and has stated they are searching for whomever commissioned this model's creation.
All of this is to say: Yes, Mimics exist. But if you see one, they're not some part of a secret state conspiracy to overtake flesh heads and rule a new cybernetic empire. Or whatever flavor of ridiculous you want to spin it as. They are regular citizens and should be treated as such.
M Model Facts!
- There are currently 32 registered citizens with the Mimic Cyberhead.
- There have been calls from the public asking for the Cyberhead to be commercially available, but as the creators are unknown, it is unknown if this will be the case.
- One anonymous Mimic Cyberhead has described the teeth of his model as being "Annoying" and wanting to replace his model with a different one.
To the individual whose picture I took and whose name will remain anonymous: Dude seriously relax, I am going to pay you for the picture. I needed SOMETHING to prove I wasn't making it up.
To those who still believe in some sort of conspiracy: All Losers Go Outside. Touch some grass or something.
I hope this article has proven informative and entertaining! To those with further questions, feel free to write in or send us an email! I may make a followup if new, pertinent information is found! Thank you for reading!
