The Commander was engrossed in an old movie when a soft knock interrupted his evening. Pausing the film, he opened the door to find Forbin standing nervously outside.
"Hello, sir. I hope I'm not disturbing you," she greeted.
The Commander smiled warmly. "No, not at all. Come in." He motioned for her to follow him into the room. "I'm just watching a movie."
As Forbin stepped inside, she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. She admired the Commander from afar, and now being in the same room with him felt surreal.
"Come on, join me on the couch. I have some popcorn you can snack on," the Commander invited, patting the couch invitingly.
Hesitant but intrigued, Forbin walked over and sat down on the edge of the couch. "Thank you, sir."
As they watched the movie, the Commander noticed Forbin's initial nervousness. Throughout, he kept glancing at her, offering her popcorn and creating a comfortable atmosphere. By the end of the movie, Forbin seemed more at ease.
The Commander turned off the TV and turned towards her. "That was a good movie. Thank you for watching it with me."
Forbin blushed slightly. "You're welcome, sir. I enjoyed it too."
"So, what brought you to my house?" the Commander asked.
Forbin cleared her throat. "Well, sir, I wanted to introduce myself since we'll be working closely together. And I also wanted to apologize if I've caused any inconvenience with my... enthusiasm earlier."
The Commander chuckled softly. "Don't worry about it, Forbin. Enthusiasm is always welcome. As for working closely together, I'm looking forward to it. I believe we'll make a great team."
Forbin smiled back, feeling encouraged by his words. Feeling the warmth of his smile, Forbin's heart skipped a beat. She couldn't help but feel drawn to the Commander, both professionally and personally. "Um... sir, I have a question for you, a personal one."
"Go ahead, Forbin. I am all ears. What is your question?" the Commander asked softly, looking over at her.
Forbin took a deep breath before continuing. "I... I was wondering if you'd like to go on a date with me, sir." Her heart raced as she waited for his response, feeling both nervous and hopeful.
The Commander looked at Forbin in surprise, his eyes widening slightly. "I think that sounds perfect. Tomorrow night, you come over, and I will cook for you. Does that sound acceptable, Forbin?"
Forbin's face lit up at the Commander's response. "Thank you, sir! I would love that." She felt a wave of happiness wash over her. She had never been on a date before, and the thought of spending time with the Commander, both professionally and personally, filled her with excitement.
The next day, the Commander prepared a meal of grilled chicken seared to perfection, mixed vegetables, and a bottle of water. He set up the table with candles, creating a cozy ambiance for Forbin's visit.
When Forbin arrived, she admired the thoughtful setup. "This looks incredible, sir," she said, blushing slightly.
"I promised you a date, and this is as nice as I could make it on short notice," the Commander said as he walked her to the seat and pulled it out for her to sit in. "So, tell me what you think. I hope it is up to your standard of cooking."
Forbin looked around, taking in the cozy atmosphere. "It's perfect, sir," she said, smiling. "I can tell you put a lot of thought into this. And your cooking is always impressive."
As they ate, the Commander asked about Forbin's experience in the port, her interactions with others, and how she found her dorm.
Forbin felt her cheeks warm at the Commander's question. "Well, um... I've met a few people, but I haven't made any close friends yet. And the dorm is... comfortable. It's nice to have my own space."
"I see," the Commander nodded, observing Forbin carefully. "Well, don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything." He said with a reassuring smile. "And now, let's enjoy our meal."
As they enjoyed their dinner, the conversation flowed effortlessly, covering various topics from work to hobbies. As they finished their meal, the Commander cleared his throat, signaling the end of their conversation. "Thank you for joining me tonight, Forbin," he said, standing up from his chair. "I hope you enjoyed our little date."
Forbin felt a pang of disappointment as the evening seemed to be coming to an end. She stood up as well, her heart racing a little at the thought of being on a "date" with the Commander. "It was... wonderful, sir," she replied, her voice a bit shaky.
The Commander noticed the look on her face, "How about we watch another movie tonight? I don't think you want to return to your dorm yet, do you?"
Forbin's heart skipped a beat at the thought of spending more time with the Commander. She tried to hide her excitement as she replied, "That sounds perfect, sir. I would love to."
As they made their way back to the living room, Forbin couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and excitement. The Commander selected another movie from his extensive collection, this time a romantic comedy that Forbin had never seen before. They settled into the couch together, the Commander putting an arm around Forbin's shoulder, causing her heart to race even faster. As they watched the movie, Forbin found herself laughing along with the characters, feeling more at ease in the Commander's presence.
"It is nice, yesterday you were at the edge of the couch, tonight you're right here with me," the Commander teased slightly.
Forbin blushed at the Commander's remark, her heart racing even faster. She couldn't deny that spending time with him like this felt natural, almost like they belonged together. "Thank you, sir," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. "It means a lot to me."
"I see, I think you have a small crush on me, Forbin," he said, wanting to see her reaction, as he was sure she had a large crush on him.
Forbin's heart skipped a beat at the Commander's words. A small part of her wanted to deny it, but she knew he was right. She looked up at him, her eyes shining with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation. "I... I might have developed feelings for you, sir."
"I thought that might be the case. New girls don't randomly hug me when I first meet them," he teased, "I find you rather amazing, a beautiful knight, and a sweet girl."
Forbin felt her cheeks heat up at the Commander's teasing. She was grateful for his kind words but also nervous about where this was going. She took a deep breath before responding. "Thank you, sir. I've always admired your strength and leadership, but more importantly, I appreciate the way you've treated me. You've been nothing but kind and supportive, even when I've messed up. I don't know if I deserve someone like you."
The Commander smiled, he moved closer to her and cupped her cheek, "You deserve someone who will be there for you, someone who will guide you and help you grow, someone who will love you for who you are." He paused for a moment, "And Forbin, I believe that person is me."
Forbin's heart skipped a beat as the Commander's hand touched her cheek. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. He was offering her more than just guidance and support; he was offering his love. Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked into his kind gaze. "Thank you, sir."
The Commander smiled warmly at her, "You're welcome, Forbin." He gently wiped away a tear from her cheek before leaning in closer to her. Their lips met in a soft, tender kiss that sent shivers down her spine. When they pulled apart, he rested his forehead against hers, his eyes closed.
Forbin couldn't believe what had just happened. She had never imagined sharing a kiss with the Commander, let alone feeling this overwhelming sense of happiness and joy. She took a deep breath to steady her nerves before speaking. "I... I'm not sure what comes next, sir, but I know I want to be with you."
The Commander smiled and wrapped an arm around Forbin's shoulders, pulling her close. "Forbin, I'm happy to hear that. We can take things slow if you'd like, but I want to explore this relationship with you and see where it leads us. We support each other, we help each other and have each other's backs."
Forbin couldn't help but smile back at him. "That sounds perfect, sir. I'm ready for whatever comes next." She took a deep breath, feeling more confident and hopeful than she had in a long time. With the Commander by her side, she knew that anything was possible.
