Everything you need to know is in the summary, so in case you missed it, I’ll paste it under this text:
Being in a fandom with currently 81 fics total is, uhh.. boring to say the most. My brain is completely smooth so I AM accepting requests right now! I can do basically anything as long as it has nothing too dehumanizing.. 😟
Chapter 2: Flower Buds - Pony/Zizzy
Summary:
The main three head to the Old Oak, waiting to meet up with Settlement Six. Around an hour passes and they hear nothing, growing bored by the second. Suddenly, Zizzy has an idea for what they could do while they wait.
Or
Zizzy and Pony make flower crowns for eachother.
Chapter Text
After saying their goodbyes to Mimi and Giraffy, the three of them headed out. It was still surprisingly early in the morning, the smell of the rain from last night and the morning dew still evident on the grass.
Before the infection, the Old Oak was a nice place for people to hang out, the big trees used for shade during hot days, the long blades of grass comfortable to lay in.
All of that would’ve been delightful to take in, if not for the sliver of dread Pony felt.
The idea of meeting new people is something he’s never been a fan of, but he’s come to terms with it as the infection had gone on.
So why is this different?
☆
The three of them had finally made it to their destination. Across the plain, not a single person was in sight.
“That’s weird.” Player said, all of them looking across the field at the same time.
All three of them were thinking the same thing: Why wasn’t anybody there?
“Do you think they’re late?” Zizzy asked, turning to the officer. She looked back at the empty space, then at Player once again.
“They never did specify what time to be here..” Player replied, assuming what Zizzy asked was correct. They stood there, thinking of something to say as they noticed the horse pacing around.
Zizzy also looked at Pony as he walked in a circle, thinking of something. She softly chuckled at this, seeing how her friend was in a current state of deep thinking.
Pony looked up at them, stopping in his tracks. He took a moment to reply, thinking of the right thing to say.
“I was just.. thinking of the reasons they aren’t here. I mean, yeah, they could be late. But they could have also wanted to meet at a different time. They also might’ve just blown us off, leaving us far from our safe place to fend for ourselves. The possibilities are endless! I mean-“ Pony continued rambling on until he felt a hand on his shoulder.
He looked up once again, seeing the zebra by his side. He slightly blushed due to how close Zizzy was, not noticing her until just now.
“It’s alright, Pony. There’s no need to be so worked up over this.” Zizzy smiles, keeping her hand on his shoulder in order to reassure him.
Pony nervously smiles back, and the two smile at each other for a while, taking in each other’s presence
…
Until Player purposefully clears their throat, reminding them that they were still there.
“Oh. Uh- sorry, Player.”
☆
A few hours have passed by, and there was still no sign of Settlement Six.
Player had already fallen asleep, propped up against a tree like Pony was. The horse blinked away the sleep, his head starting to nod off.
Zizzy had caught him shaking his head after almost falling asleep, and had enough. She was a normally laid back person, but all this sitting around and doing nothing was starting to get to her.
She looked around once again, a patch of flowers catching her attention. There were regular dandelions, poppies, tulips, and violets.
All were very pretty, but a certain type of violet was what drawn her attention. It was a regular violet color with a dash of yellow on the inside.
Two different colors don’t normally go so well together but these two complemented each other very beautifully.
Zizzy set off towards the patch of flowers, an idea bright in her mind. As she walked past him, Pony jolted awake, trying to see what she was doing.
Zizzy sat down in the patch of flowers, the grass slightly staining her dress as she kneeled down on it.
She felt the stem of the flower, going further down to see if it was long enough for what she wanted. Seemingly happy with the length, she plucked it.
Zizzy held the flower in her hand by the stem, twirling it around. She then figured she’d need to do this quickly, so she’d pluck one after the other.
After she gathered enough of them, she began to braid three. In the regular criss-cross pattern used for braiding, Zizzy added one flower after each braid had been finished. This resulted in a loop, or a rather, a crown of flowers.
Happy with the finished product, Zizzy walked back over to Pony, who had already began to doze off once again.
She placed the flower crown on his head, seemingly bringing him back to his senses.
“Huh- What.?” Pony said, turning to Zizzy. He placed his hands on his head, feeling the flower crown Zizzy had made.
He brought it down, in front of his face to see it. “Woah. When’d you do this? How’d you do this, Zizzy?”
“I started around a half hour ago, it was starting to get boring. And, I learned for the girls. Zuzy was really into that stuff, so I did it for them.”
Pony looks back down at the flower crown.
“So.. You like it?”
“Wait- you made this for me?” Pony asked, looking surprised.
“Obviously. Why would I give it to you if it wasn’t made for you?” Zizzy said as Pony stood there, looking somewhat dumbfounded.
…
“Right..” He said, sounding embarrassed. “Can you, uhm, teach me?”
“Huh?”
“Can you teach me how to make one? I want to make one for you as well.”
“Oh, sure! The patch is over here, follow me.” Zizzy said, taking him by the arm as she drug her friend over to the flower patch she used for the crown.
“Pony, look, those ones look like us!” Zizzy said, pointing to the purple and yellow violas.
Pony looked slightly confused. “How do the flowers look like- oh..” He said, his face flushing as he realized the colors were what represented them.
“Aren’t they just pretty?” It wasn’t really a question, more of a statement, but Zizzy didn’t care.
“Yeah.. They are.”
“..”
“Did you know that violas usually grow in..” As Pony rambled on like he usually did, Zizzy smiled.
Both of them had been friends from way before the infection started. Although definitely traumatic, it has brought them very close to each other. Once again, Zizzy started picking the flowers.
“..And that’s why large and lush areas like the Old Oak are very good for the growth of these kinds of flowers.” Pony finally finished, as he was shoved onto the ground by Zizzy, who was now sitting across from him.
“Ow.” Pony joked as he sat up. He held his hands out as Zizzy handed him the flowers.
Zizzy showed him all of the steps she took to make these. She showed him which one to begin the crown with, and how to braid each flower into each other.
☆
“It’s good for your first try!” Zizzy said, trying to console her friend.
“Were my hands too shaky? Maybe I’m just no good at it” Pony asked, sad it didn’t look as good as Zizzy’s did.
“It looks amazing Pony, don’t be upset!”
“It looks like something Zuzy would draw.” Player said as the two looked at them, not knowing they were awake.
“Okay, fuck you.” Pony glared at them. Pony laughed afterwards, as it was somewhat common for them to joke like this.
After a few more attempts, and around an hour later, Pony spoke up.
“Are you sure this is the right place? We haven’t seen anyone.” He said worryingly as he looked around.
…
“Well, well, well… Look at these familiar faces!” A voice spoke up. An agitating, cocky voice.
Pony knew exactly who this was.
And boy, was he not happy to see her.

Chapter Text
"Georgie... we’ll find the person who did this, I promise."
Georgie had to admit, while that DID sound ideal, he found it hard to believe that they would ever find this guy. After all, if you started a global pandemic, turning (mostly) innocent people into flesh ravaging zombies, wouldn’t you make sure that you’d never be found?
Georgie was positive that the man who had started this all, Mr. Poppyseed, had already fled the state, if not the entire country. Not doing so would’ve basically been a death sentence for the man, especially if any overly aggravated survivors were to find out where he was.
"Are you okay?" Crap, he didn’t mean to brood. He was grateful for all that the officer, Zizzy, and everyone else was doing for him, but he truly couldn’t help but sulk. That’s all that he’s been doing since this thing started—besides surviving, of course.
"Yeah, I.. I’m fine." He muttered out, practically ridiculing himself for how.. bratty he sounded, he supposes. They just saved him, for God's sake, but he’s acting like more of a burden than he had hoped. He kept his eyes trained onto the ground, not wanting to face anyone right now.
"Alright. I won’t press you." Georgie finally looked up, slightly surprised. He had always been nagged about how he was feeling back when.. well, back when everything was normal. Even if it was something small, insignificant even, his sister always pressed him. It was refreshing to say the least.
But that only got him thinking about his family again. He couldn’t shake the idea of what had happened, how they had gone from a completely normal family to some beasts that recognized nothing besides the scent of blood. It was horrifying at the time, and it still was. It kept him awake every night inside of that forsaken room, and it probably still will in the nights to come.
Why did it have to be HIS family, huh? Couldn’t it have been anyone else’s? Probably not, fate had a funny way of tormenting him somehow, of cruelly messing up everything he loved and held dear. He knew why it happened. He knew who caused it.
Georgie was taught that hate was a strong word. Well, he hated him. He absolutely loathed that man. He wanted to wring out that stupid, rich, privileged asshole's neck until it turned the same disgusting shade of purple as his hair. He’d get back at him for what he did to his family. He’d-
"We’re here, kid." The woman in purple—Zizzy if he had recalled correctly—spoke. He looked up from the pavement, and sure enough, it was that hotel that he remembered from a while ago. "You’re around the same age as them. I’m sure you’ll get along well."
Right. Other people. He hasn’t been around another person for at least a month, and he’d honestly forgotten how it was like to live with them as well. This was his first interaction with things that could move, besides the mall droid that actively tried to kill any survivors it could find.
Georgie honestly had no clue how this would go. Sure, the officer—Player, he had to remind himself of their name—and Zizzy were welcoming, but that didn’t stop his imagination from getting the best of him. What if they didn’t like him? Or, what if they did, but he’d eventually lose them just like his own family?
He felt a hand on his shoulder, it was gentle, but firm enough to let him know that it wasn’t going anywhere. "Hey. Don’t worry yourself, Georgie. This is my first time meeting the rest of the survivors too. We’re both new, so let’s just go into this with an open mind, yeah?"
Georgie had to admit, seeing an officer up close was a bit intimidating. At first, he had thought he had done something wrong, just from trying to get by all by himself, or that they were mad that he had been watching them. But he knows now that he was wrong. After he listened to Player's words, he realized that no matter their background, everyone here was in the same situation. Everyone was just trying to live, and this group was trying to help each other do that.
Georgie nodded at Player's words, a small, hopeful smile working its way onto his face. He knew that they were right, that whatever happens from here on, it would all be a first time experience for all of them. And he found himself believe that the people behind that door would help him and each other survive this mess.
When Zizzy opened the door, the three of them were greeted with two girls—one definitely more enthusiastic than the other—and three other adults. "Zizzy’s back, and she has friends!" The girl in the hot pink said as she dragged her twin sister closer to the door, urging her to look at the newcomers as well.
Zizzy only laughed as she turned her body towards the two while still facing her sisters, a gentle smile on her face. “Zee! Zuzy! This is Georgie and Player.” She introduced them, knowing that her sisters, mainly Zuzy, would be ecstatic to have someone new to play with.
"Player looks pretty funny-" Zee commented, a smile etched onto her face. Georgie didn’t think that the officer looked odd, not really, anyways. But before Zizzy could scold her sister for how she greeted them, someone else spoke.
"Zizzy! Player! We tracked a helicopter signal nearby." A man said. Georgie hadn’t learned his name yet, but from what he could see, he could tell that he was a bit on the leaner side. He wore glasses, and was probably one for using logic rather than force like Player, or Zizzy, which he found a little funny.
"Mr. P... I need to go see him." Player said to themselves, and when he looked over at them, Georgie could see that their expression had changed from earlier. Clearly the man had also put them through something that they held a grudge against him for.
Georgie had to admit, he had almost forgotten about him. Almost. But at the mention of him again, he started to think about him once again. He has to do something. He HAS to avenge his family for what Mr. Poppyseed had done to them.
"Zizzy and I are coming with you." The guy had spoke once again, taking a step forward as he had also noticed the expression on Player's face. They snapped out of it, a grateful smile on their face as they looked up at him. "What?! But she just got back!" Georgie had heard Zuzy complain.
Zizzy only smiled at her sister, speaking kindly but in a way that held no argument. "I'll be back soon, I promise! Take care of Georgie while we're gone." Wait. He had to stay here? No. No, he couldn’t stay here. If he did, he would have no way to confront the man who had hurt him. The man who had hurt his family.
"Let's go stop him once and for all." Player had turned, already out of the door before Georgie could raise any arguments and try to get his way. And it stayed that way as Zizzy and the guy—which, Georgie still hadn’t gotten his name—followed them and shut the door closed.
No. He can't just let them leave like that. He has to- Wait.
"How about we play a game?" Georgie had asked with a strained smile as he turned towards the twin girls, Zuzy already bouncing with excitement. "A game?? I can already tell that I’m gonna like you, new guy!!" She said, or rather, exclaimed with a huge grin on her face. "What game do you wanna play?"
"Let’s play hide and seek. I’ll hide first."
