Chapter Text
It is mid-2005, the Autobots have defeated the Chaos Bringer, named Unicron. Saving not only their home world, but the whole of the universe itself. The Autobots as well as Cybertron itself, are under the leadership of the new Autobot commander and prime, Rodimus Prime. Who took over leadership after the death of Optimus Prime. During the Battle of Unicron, Galvatron was defeated by Rodimus and was hurled into deep space. Seemingly never to be heard from again, with the Decepticons going into hiding. Now, we move to present day on Cybertron. Where Rodimus has begun to adjust to his new position.
He was currently in a meeting room with his top lieutenants and Ultra Magnus. Sitting at the end of a silver table in a metallic orange walled room. Sitting around the table was Ultra Magnus to his right, Jazz to his left, Skyfire next to Jazz, and Blaster next to Ultra Magnus.
"Thank you all for joining us," said Rodimus Prime. "So, let's begin the meeting, shall we?"
"Wait, Rodimus." Blurted Ultra Magnus, "shouldn't we wait for Grimlock to join us?"
"He's actually busy on assignment with the rest of the Dinobots down on Earth." Replied Skyfire.
Rodimus nodded, "so, we can begin without him then." He then pulled out a small metallic and circular device and placed it on the table. Before pressing down on it before a holographic display appeared. "Through Agent Blurr's Intel, we have discovered many possible locations related to Decepticon hideouts. Through this we could devise a battle strategy to wipe them out."
"Wait, why bother scouting them out?" Asked Jazz. "We're at peace now and Galvatron is seemingly offline. Why bother inciting more conflict?"
"Because, we'll never be at peace without destroying the Decepticons completely." Rodimus reminded the group, "though we may be at peace, its only a matter of time before the Decepticons return to attack us and conquer Cybertron."
The Autobots looked around at each other, unsure of Rodimus words.
"Are you ... really sure that is the best next step we can take, Rodimus?" Asked Blaster. "We're still rebuilding our home and our forces, I don't think its in our best interest to incite conflict right now."
"Enough!" Barked Rodimus. "I am the supreme commander, so my orders go! I know what's best for us all!"
The entire room went silent, as the Autobots looked in worry at their commander. Rodimus noticed this, before standing up and leaving the room to his left.
"I'll ... be right back," Ultra Magnus told the Autobots as he hurried after Rodimus.
He caught up with the Autobot supreme commander in the metallic orange walled hallway's. Rodimus was visibly frustrated, something Ultra Magnus took notice of as he approached him.
"Rodimus," he said, "what's wrong?"
"I can't believe them, Ultra Magnus. Questioning my orders like that. They would've never questioned Optimus orders."
"Maybe because Optimus would've thought of the whole picture before deciding on our next move." Rodimus stopped walking, before turning to Ultra Magnus. Who stopped walking alongside him. "What is it?"
"Maybe I need a little bit of a break, I've been so caught up in the rebuilding process of Cybertron and our forces that I think its starting to frag my hard drive."
"But Rodimus, we can't take a break now. You have an important command decision to make."
"Well ... what do you suggest we do? Shouldn't we eliminate the Decepticons at their weakest, in order to prevent more death and bloodshed?"
"If you ask me, I feel we should hold off an attack until we fully rebuild our forces."
Rodimus nodded, "then let the lieutenants know that." He said, as he began to turn away from Ultra Magnus.
"Wait, where are you going, Prime?"
"Away, I'll be back later." Rodimus replied as he began walking away from Ultra Magnus.
Ultra Magnus wanted to follow, but decided not to. Instead he decided to follow out Rodimus command. Although, with less confidence than he would've wanted.
...
On a far off volcanic and desolate planet, in a distant galaxy from Cybertron was where the Decepticons main headquarters was. Astrotrain began heading towards the planet from space in his space shuttle alternate mode.
"Astrotrain returns," said Soundwave as he picked up Astrotrain's signal.
"About time," said Scrapper as he, the Constructicons, the Stunticons, the Combaticons, the Sweeps, Blitzwing, and Dreadwing looked on at Astrotran's approaching figure.
Once he made it through the planet's atmosphere he crash landed in front of many of the remaining Decepticons. He then transformed into robot mode, a pile of energon cubes falling out of him as he did so.
"Energon!" Called Scrapper as he and the other Constructicons rushed towards Astrotrain and tackled him to the ground.
"Wait! I need some energon too!" Cried Astrotrain as the other Decepticons looked on at the sight.
Up above, on a cliff overlooking the other Decepticons. Scourge watched them move about like bugs finding a food source. He snorted at the sight.
"Pathetic, those animals are moving about like Earth bugs." He said, turning around to face Cyclonus. "We can't keep operating like this, sir. We need to attack the Autobots as soon as possible, otherwise we'll die of energon loss."
"Don't you think I know that!?" Cried Cyclonus as he turned to face Scourge. "But we need to wait until Galvatron can be found. I've told you this before."
"I know, sir. But things are getting worse out there. I think it is time to accept the fact that Galvatron is offline."
Cyclonus peered down at the ground, "maybe ... but I am still holding out hope, Scourge."
"Hope won't keep us alive, Cyclonus." Scourge replied.
"Just go down there and make sure they don't take all of the energon at once." Cyclonus barked.
"Yes, sir." Grunted Scourge, as he turned away from Cyclonus. But before walking away, he secretly sent out a secret coded message from a communicator on his arm to a Decepticon warlord far away in space. Someone who had been banished long ago by Megatron, and who had been searching the universe and conquering planets for centuries as a warlord.
...
Back on Cybertron, Rodimus was in his futuristic space Winnebago vehicle mode. Driving towards a huge golden metal building. Once inside, he transformed into robot mode as his trailer rolled into the distance behind him, before disappearing. Rodimus then began walking throughout the building until he reached a room where huge golden statues of previous Autobot leaders stood. They stood on podiums that doubled as graves with their names inscribed onto golden markers on the podiums. Rodimus passed by Zeta Prime and Sentinal Prime before arriving at Optimus Prime's grave. He peered up at the statue of the former leader.
"Why me?" He asked the statue, "what did you see in me, Optimus?"
"I thought I'd find you here," called the joyful voice of Ultra Magnus.
Rodimus turned around to see his right hand man walking towards him.
"What are you doing here?" Rodimus asked.
"What do you think? Checking in on my superior. What's going on, Rodimus?"
"I just ... I think Optimus wasn't right when he picked me as his successor."
"What are you talking about? You defeated Galvatron and saved the universe from Unicron. You've already done more than most primes have done in their entire reign."
"But ... one moment doesn't define a legacy, Ultra Magnus. What if I fail as a leader? The Autobots need someone to look up to, and ... what if I'm not ready to be leader yet?"
"Hey, don't say that, Rodimus. The Matrix wouldn't have chosen you if you weren't ready."
"How do you know? You were never a prime." Ultra Magnus was taken aback, as Rodimus sighed. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that."
"I know," replied Ultra Magnus. "Look, Prime, you should give yourself more credit. Give yourself a chance to grow as a leader and to better yourself. Can you do that for me?"
Rodimus nodded, "I suppose."
The two Autobots then looked up at the statue of Optimus Prime, paying their respects to the fallen leader.
...
On the Decepticons base, a jet began to fly towards the planet. It quickly passed through the planet's atmosphere as Soundwave began to detect it.
"Lord Cyclonus!" He called as he watched the skies from the cliff, alongside Scourge. "Decepticon signal detected."
"Decepticon signal?" Cyclonus asked as he approached the two. "I didn't order any of them to leave the planet."
"No, but ordered this soldier to appear." Replied Scourge.
"You did what!?" Cyclonus barked as he grabbed ahold of Scourge. "Without my authorization!?"
"It was what needed to be done," replied Scourge as the jet finally landed on the planet.
It then transformed into robot mode, revealing the form of Scorponok. The Decepticons were surprised, as Cyclonus, Scourge, and Soundwave headed down the cliff to meet Scorponok.
"Ah, Scorponok, how are we?" Asked Cyclonus.
"I could be better, after I heard about your lackluster command here I knew I had to intervene." Scorponok replied, his bulky figure towering over every other Decepticon.
"Well, I'd be glad to have you as one of my lieutenants." Replied Cyclonus as he glared at Scourge.
"Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of ... commander." Scorponok smirked before he punched Cyclonus onto his back.
The Decepticons looked on in shock as Cyclonus was taken aback by Scorponok's move.
"What ... what are you doing!?" Cyclonus cried.
"Your leadership has proven to be inept and unreliable, a new commander must be chosen." Scorponok told Cyclonus.
"But ... but we are trying to find our true commander, Galvatron!" Cyclonus retorted as he got back to his feet.
"I admire your loyalty, Cyclonus. But you cannot let the other Decepticons die just to bring back Galvatron. He had his time and he failed."
"If he could hear you now ... he'd have your spark for that."
"That may be, and if Galvatron does resurface I will gladly hand command back over to him. But until then, I am in-charge now. So, you can either accept this or you can die."
Cyclonus growled, before looking around at the other Decepticons. Before finally locking optics with Scorponok. Knowing with his lack of energon that he could not fight Scorponok, let alone win against him.
"I will go find Galvatron, and then you all will be sorry." Cyclonus replied, before transforming into jet mode and flying into the sky.
"So then, who is the highest ranking officer here?" Asked Scorponok.
"I am," said Scourge as he stepped forwards. "Soundwave, Scrapper, and Dreadwing are our only remaining lieutenants."
"Then, Scourge you will become my second-in-command."
"Yes, sir!" Scourge saluted.
"Now then, we need to find a new energy source." Scorponok began, "these scraps you all have been consuming will simply not cut it, we need something better."
"Like what?" Asked Dreadwing.
"Follow me, Decepticons: transform and rise up!" Scorponok cried as he transformed into his jet mode.
The rest of the Decepticons soon followed after him, transforming into their flying vehicle modes or just jumping into the air and flying after him.
...
The Decepticons flew for thousands of light years through space, before arriving nearby Planet Cybertron.
"Lord Scorponok!" Cried Scourge, "we can't invade the Autobots territory now."
"Relax," smirked Scorponok, "we're simply stopping by for a pit stop, before the real invasion begins."
"What do you mean, sir?" Asked Soundwave.
"Wait and find out." Replied Scorponok.
The Decepticons followed Scorponok passed Cybertron and towards the floating head of Unicron, caught in the gravitational pull of Cybertron.
"Is that ... Unicron?" Asked Motormaster.
"Yes, his head has been floating around Cybertron ever since his defeat by those Autobots." Replied Scourge.
"How can he help us? He's offline," asked Scrapper.
"Simply, one of the fragments of Unicron flew nearby on my universal travels. I had examined it and we found that it's fuel possessed strange properties." Said Scorponok.
"What ... kind of properties?" Asked Mixmaster.
"Powerful ones." Smirked Scorponok as the Decepticons closed in on the head. They then flew through Unicrons left eye before landing inside of his head. "Decepticons: fan out and find something with his energon fuel source on it. It should be purple in color."
"Yes, sir!" Cried the Decepticons as they began flying throughout Unicron's head.
"So ... what can his energon provide us?" Asked Scourge as he stood next to Scorponok.
"You ask a lot of questions, which is good since you are my second-in-command." Replied Scorponok, "Unicron's energon can provide us with extraordinary power, power unlike anything you have experienced before."
"How do you know this?" Asked Scourge.
"I took some if it to rejuvenate me and increase my power. By the way, I am surprised you would call me back to lead the Decepticons after Megatron banished me."
"Well, unlike Megatron I do not fear you overthrowing me. Because being commander is not for me, however, we need a leader. One much more effective than Cyclonus."
"Indeed, you made the right call, Scourge." Scorponok then smirked. "I'll have the Autobots extinguished within a week."
Suddenly, Long Haul ran up to the both of them. "Sir! We found it!"
"Excellent, take me to the source." Replied Scorponok.
He and Scourge then followed after Long Haul deep into Unicron's processor. Where a purple liquid began leaking from his massive electronic brain and onto the metallic floor of his head.
"This right here seems to be what you were looking for, sir." Said Motormaster.
"It is, Soundwave!"
"Yes?"
"Turn this into Energon Cubes for us to consume."
"Yes, sir!" Saluted Soundwave.
Soundwave quickly followed through with the order, resulting in a pile of Dark Energon cubes being produced and placed in a pile in front of the Decepticons. The Decepticons then one-by-one began drinking up the substance, their optics briefly flashing purple for a moment as they were coated in a purple glow. Laughing manically as their power and energy levels increased, feeling as if they had been reborn. The purple glow soon faded from both their figures and their optics. Resulting in them calming down.
"You were right, Scorponok." Said Scourge, "this really was the stuff we needed."
"Yeah, I feel like I could take on Optimus Prime if he was still online." Added Scrapper.
"Let's stop wasting time," boomed Scorponok. "We have some Autobots to kill."
"Yeah, let's invade Cybertron!" Roared Astrotrain as Scorponok held a hand up to him.
"No, I don't feel we are ready for such a task. We need to strike at a much smaller target." Scorponok then turned to Soundwave. "Soundwave, are there any Autobot bases we could attack that are not on Cybertron."
"Yes, Cyclonus ordered me to send out Lazerbeak to find out such information. He discovered that there is a small lunar base located on Earth's Moon, only guarded by a few Autobots."
Scorponok smirked, "excellent, we shall attack there first."
"Yeah!" Roared the Decepticons as they pumped their fists into the air.
...
The Autobot's lunar base was a tall and silver structure with a few tall towers that was guarded by a few sentry guns and a handful of Autobots. It was being commanded by Springer, with a few Autobots stationed inside and outside. Infero, Kup, and Hubcap were patrolling the base outside. Armed with black and gray machine guns.
"Why do they even have us guard this old place?" Asked Hubcap. "The Decepticons are gone for good."
"Shut your yap!" Barked Kup, as he chewed on a cy-gar. "The Decepticons aren't gone until they surrender, which I doubt will ever happen."
Suddenly a black and purple portal opened, a spacebridge of some kind. The Autobots looked upwards at it as purple globs appeared from it. Before they transformed into the forms of Scorponok and his army.
"Scrap! It's Decepticons!" Called Inferno.
"Open fire!" Cried Kup, "and don't stop shooting until they're dead and gone."
The Autobots and the sentry guns began to open fire on the Decepticons, but the red laser just bounced off of the Decepticons or were just obsorbed by them.
"Those Dark Energon portals really helped us out," said Scourge as he flew alongside his leader.
"Decepticons: open fire!" Scorponok cried, as purple energy blasts began to rain down upon the Autobots below.
Up inside the highest tower of the Autobots lunar base, was the commander center for the base. There, Springer began to try and reach Rodimus on the Autobots Cybertron base.
"Cybertron base! Come in Cybertron!" Springer cried, "we're under attack from the entire Decepticon fleet. We need immediate back-up!"
...
On Cybertron, Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Blurr, Blaster, and Jazz were stationed at the communications room of their Cyberton base. Blaster and Blurr were sitting on orange chairs in front of the the orange communications center console.
"Springer! This is Blaster, we read you loud and clear. We'll be sending reinforcements immediately."
"Good, cus I don't think we're gonna last much long-" Springer spoke through the console's speaker, before the line went dead.
"Springer! Springer!" Blaster cried, before spinning around in the chair to face Rodimus. "Prime! We need to help them out now!"
"Right, let's go!" Rodimus said confidently, as the room fell silent. "What're you all waiting for?"
"Who do you want to go with you?" Asked Jazz.
"Oh, right. Um ... Ultra Magnus, Jazz, Blaster, and ... Omega Supreme will take us there. Blurr, prepare a spacebridge for us to pass through."
"Yes, sir!" Blurr hurriedly cried as he saluted.
"Autobots: roll out!" Rodimus cried as the Autobots headed out of the command center.
They hurriedly found Omega Supreme outside, sitting in his spaceship alternate-mode. He quickly opened his ship bay door from underneath him as he saw the Autobots approaching.
"Rodimus, what is going on?" Omega Supreme asked.
"Our lunar base is under attack, Omega. We need a ride." Rodimus replied as the group all headed inside.
"Understood." Replied Omega Supreme as his ship door closed and he began to ascend into the air.
A blue and white portal soon opened up in the sky, Omega Supreme then flew into it before disappearing. He instantly reappeared through another portal on the Moon. Once through, they found the lunar base completely destroyed.
"Primus," said Rodimus as the group looked through Omega Supreme's cockpit window.
"Those monsters, they completely destroyed our base." Added Blaster.
"Omega, land nearby and transform to robot mode. The Decepticons are still probably here." Ordered Ultra Magnus.
"Yes, sir." Replied Omega Supreme before he landed a few yards in front of the base.
His ship door then fell to the ground, before the Autobots ran down it. Seeing the downed bodies of Kup, Hubcap, and Inferno as Omega Supreme transformed into robot mode.
"Jazz! Blaster! Check their vitals!" Cried Rodimus as he ran towards Kup. He knelt down to Kup, before cradling him in his arms. "Kup! Kup, speak to me!"
Kup had a huge slash across his chest, his wires and energon exposed as his blue optics flickered on and off.
"R-Rodimus ..." Kup said before falling unconsious.
"Who did this ... who did this, Kup!" Cried Rodimus as Ultra Magnus approached Jazz and Blaster.
"Anything?" He asked as the bots shook their heads.
"Nope, they're long gone." Replied Jazz.
"I can confirm!" Called a bruiting voice as the group looked to see Scorponok and his Decepticons standing before him.
"You ... who are you!?" Cried Ultra Magnus.
"Who cares, he's mine." Growled Rodimus as he stood up and glared Scorponok down.
"Wait, Rodimus!" Cried Ultra Magnus.
"Yes, wait, Autobot." Scorponok said mockingly as he threw the body of Springer towards Rodimus. He was missing an arm and leaking energon all over the ground.
"Sp-Springer." Rodimus stammered as he starred down at his old friend, before looking back up at Scorponok. "Y-you're dead!" Rodimus cried as Ultra Magnus held him back.
"Rodimus, wait! We're severely outnumbered, plus, Kup and Springer might be able to be saved. We can't risk their safety for revenge."
"I'm still leader around here, not you!" Cried Rodimus.
"I may not be the leader," Ultra Magnus replied calmly. "But I am your second-in-command. I can take command if the commander is incapable of leading. Don't make me do that, Rodimus."
Rodimus and Ultra Magnus locked optics, with Rodimus relenting. Knowing Ultra Magnus was right.
"Okay, Autobots: retreat, and take our friends and load them into Omega Supreme."
"Yes, sir!" Cried Jazz and Blaster as they began grabbing the downed Autobots, while Omega Supreme transformed into vehicle mode.
"Decepticons: destroy them!" Cried Scourge, before Scorponok held a hand in front of him.
"No, belay that order!" He cried.
"What? Why?" Asked Scourge.
"Because, we've already won this battle. Plus, this kid is so hotheaded that he'll come for me soon enough. So, we'll have plenty of chances to kill him."
Scourge nodded as the Autobots finished loading their men into Omega Supreme.
"Rodimus! Are you coming!?" Asked Ultra Magnus.
"Yes," nodded Rodimus, as he glared at Scorponok. "This isn't over."
"I know." Smirked Scorponok as Rodimus turned and entered into Omega Supreme with Ultra Magnus.
Omega Supreme's ship door then closed, before he ascended into the air and flew away into a spacebridge that Blurr summoned for them.
