Desdinova slept in Imaginos' arms.
For nearly thirty years they had been married. No one would ever believe it had been so long, because they both still looked as they had when they were in their twenties.
Desdinova had eight children, seven with Imaginos. Their names were Balthazar, Alassa, Vulturophane, Aeon, Aerie, Myra, Celestia, and Imaginos the last a tiny duplicate of her father. With the exception of Balthazar, all of the children were no taller than five or seven inches, her two sons Aerie and Vulturophane being seven inches tall while her daughters stood at five.
Despite the time that had passed since the captivity that had resulted in Balthazar's birth, Desdinova still had the occasional nightmare about it. And this night was no exception.
She was in the Captain's cabin, her baby having been sacrificed to the sea hours before. Tears ran down her face as she was forced to sit on the cruel Captain's lap, facing away from him as he held her arms behind her back, her breasts exposed as his crew lined up before them.
"Drink up!" the Captain encouraged as the first two stepped forth and began to suck at Desdinova's breasts. "Yes! All of you! Drink your fill!"
"No," Desdinova groaned in her sleep. "Stop. Stop!"
She screamed aloud as her eyes flew open and rolled over, burying her face in her husband's chest.
"Nightmare?" Imaginos asked, rubbing her back.
"I dreamed that you never came," Desdinova replied. "Balthazar was sacrificed and the pirates were..." she shuddered as her voice dropped to a whisper. "They were feeding off me. Drinking from..." She fell silent.
"I would never leave you to such a fate," Imaginos promised. "You're my aspect. My soulmate. You're precious to me and always will be."
Desdinova drew closer and closed her eyes, hoping the rest of the night would yield more pleasant dreams.
