Work Text:

Sidon knew that hylians were strange, but he understood there usual tack-tics when it came to fishing. Spear fishing, fishing rods, or even just grabbing the fish with quick and steady hands. However, the last tack-tic he was expected was a literal bomb.

A beautiful dawn had sprouted upon the Domain. Birds were composing their melodies, Zora's were going about their casual routines, and a dashing Zora prince rested atop his bedroom balcony, and looked down at the glittering architecture and emasculate floors as he dreamt of a certain pretty little hylian. Just yesterday Sidon had received a letter from Link, informing Sidon of his up-coming arrival. The prince couldn't help but flush and girlishly giggle at this news, and ever since he's had a distinct hop to his confident stride. Now, Sidon waited, heavily fatigued by princely duties, and mundane chores that he'd ploughed through ever since Link's last arrival. Every 5 minutes, he glanced at the entrance of Zora's domain, only to pout and look away. The likelihood of Link's appearance today was incredibly slim, but Sidon still waited, still hoped.

"Sidon? You in here?" A soft, boyish voice spoke. A voice that could only suite one person in Sidon's eyes.

"LINK!" Sidon completely abandoned his balcony, and rushed over to Link faster then his Zorian anatomy would usually allow. He then scooped Link into his arms and held him tightly to his chest.

Sidon began his usual enthusiastic and genial greeting, “hello my dear friend! Im so glad to see you! I've missed you greatly! I-.”

”Slow down Sidon! Please!" Link spoke with a little laugh, lighting a flame in Sidon's chest.

Sidon sighed apologetically, “Oh I apologise Link. You see, I've been plagued all week with horrifically boring duty's.”

Link groaned “ohh, all that complicated prince paper work.”

Sidon snickered “yes link.. All that complicated prince paper work.”

"Yes, well ah...is it done?" Link gave a pleading, wide eyed look, which was code for ‘please say yes so we can hang out.’

Sidon smiled, “why yes actually, I just finished up.”

Link's sapphire eyes brightened and his smile rose “Great! I found the perfect fishing spot near by, completely secluded by foliage and shrubbery with some of the tastiest fish in the Domain!” He said whilst exentuating his point with a chefs kiss.

”Are you trying to sell a property to me? If so your doing a fine job” Sidon was prepared to buy anything from Link if necessary. Link only laughed and scratched the back of his neck, flustered with embarrassment. A charming sight, Sidon thought.

”Well I might be, and if so you need to inspect the property before purchase, so let's get going!”

”They exited the main castle and began their journey to the supposedly perfect fishing spot. Sidon followed closely behind Link, who passed several Zora who were in close enough proximity to notice Sidon's obvious antsy and nervous stature around the hero, everyone besides the hero himself. Sidon's crush had been painfully apparent for months now, and only recently had he admitted to himself, and unwillingly his father, that he wished to court the hero. Sidon swore that there was absolutely nothing Link could do or say that would change his mind. The angelic laughs and gentle mannerisms he constantly displayed only served to escalate the princes strong affections for the boy. Trapped within his rumination's, the prince hadn't realised there'd already arrived, but with a gentle tap on his shoulder from Link's, in complete contrast to Sidon's, dainty and delicate hand, he gazed upward at the fantastical scenery that surrounded him.

The appeal was evident. Within the opening in the deep, secluded, thick, and lush woods near the Domain, There lied a large, deep, pool within a continuous river. Clear, crystal blue water with plenty of bright green seaweed flowed with the steady current. Hyrule Bass, Salmon, and exotic fish that were beyond Sidon's knowledge peacefully swam with the current. It was like a small section from Adam and Eve's sacred garden, that they were lucky enough too even witness. It was beautiful, and Sidon hoped that nothing would ever interfere with the pure serenity that the spot effortlessly oozed.

Within that moment, Link manifested a glowing blue basket ball seemingly out of thin air, and twirled it on the tip of his pointer finger like a basket ball.

Sidon shot a confused look at the orb, “Link? What is that?”

"This? OH! This is a bomb!" Link responded with a light smile.

Sidon stood frozen, and ruminated, ‘How on earth could Link manifest a bomb?! And why would he do so during a calming activity such as fishing???,' during Sidon's contemplation, Link threw the bomb into the crystal water pool, where the fish were most prevalent.

”Stand back,”Link quickly warned.

However, Sidon's brain didn't register his predicament in time. “wait, wha-.”

BOOM!

Sidon jumped back at least 3 feet, before taking nearly a minute to gain his vital senses back. He glared at Link, who sifted through the water, as he picked up the obliterated fish that didn't survive the explosion. When he finished, he looked towards the imposing Zora, and could clearly see his shock and confusion.

”I...did warn you,” Link flustered and looked away as he cradled his mutilated seafood.

”E x p l a i n,” Sidon calmly demanded.

Link attempted to rationalise, but failed. “It's the most efficient fishing method out there!”

”NO IT IS NOT! It's a literal explosion! What if someone was walking by without realising they’re in close proximity to a surprise BOMB!?” Sidon screamed, flabbergasted while he waved his hands around flamboyantly.

Link rapidly blinked. “Ummmm... I caught five fish!?” He spoke in an attempt to impress Sidon and avoid further confrontation.

Sidon stood in awe, but eventually sat down, and submitted to Link’s very strange but charming antics.

Link exited the body of water, wielding his reward with a wide closed lip smile on his youthful face. He handed the fish to Sidon. “Hold these,” he said before he whipped out his Shika Slate, and scrolled through until he manifested a pile of wood. To Sidon's surprise, Link unsheathed his flame sword.

”Stand back,” Link warned. Sidon learnt from the mistake he made minutes before, and took a wide step back. Link swung his sword effortlessly, scraping the sticks and lighting them aflame. He then crafted a small plate to cook the fish on. Sidon couldn't help but watch in awe, wonder, but most of all confusion.

”So you use a flame swords to light fires, and bombs for fishing? God Link, next you’re going to tell me you use the master sword to trim your lawn!” Link blinked rapidly in his direction before he turned his head away guilty. “Link I swear to Hylia…” Link tilted his head down, scratched the back of his neck, and whispered,  “It's the most efficient method.”

“NO IT IS NOT!” Sidon screamed so furiously that he scared away the birds peacefully perched atop the trees above.

Sidon started mentally questioning his surety of dating the boy as he scolded him for utilising the most powerful weapons in all of Hyrule for such trivial tasks. Link simple nodded along, and enjoyed the prince’s passionate rant about how, 'specific objects have specific purposes!'
