Chapter one
The school bell rings as it blares loudly. You could see some students wince in pain in the background as they rubbed their ears gingerly. LotusFlower, or also more commonly known as Lotus, could be seen waking up from their dazed state as Syropie waved their hand in front of their face.
Syropie placed their hands on their hips as they smiled goodnaturedly at Lotus with their head tilted slightly. Syropie is Lotus‘s high school sweetheart. Just as Lotus was theirs.
“My sweetest Lotuseronnie…sometimes I fear that I will lose you to that headspace of yours!” Syropie dramatically acted out as they dabbed their nonexistent tears away with a napkin they had stashed inside their jacket.
Lotus‘ lips could be seen curved upwards in slight amusement as they averted their eyes away from Syropie‘s theatrical acts, opting to check out the time instead. It was currently 4:05 P.M. and school had ended 5 minutes ago.
“...‘m sorry. You know how easily I get lost in thought.” Lotus mumbles out in a slightly quiet tone as they look down at the ground, fumbling with the ring on their finger as if to appease their nerves.
Syropie just playfully shook their head as they grinned cheerfully at them. “I know pookiebug! As a penalty I want to hold hands with you, m‘kay? Oh and you owe me a date!” They winked at Lotus, eyes practically gleaming as they had a mischievous smile on their face.
Lotus simply blinked in surprise before nodding slightly as a light pink hue coated their cheeks, you couldn’t really notice it from afar but upclose it really was visible. “…okay, whatever you say pookiefart.” They sighed as they fidgeted with their clothes before allowing Syropie to hold their hand as they beamed at them.
“Great! Come on, I heard that in our mall they recently released some other Shakespeare books!” Syropie squeezed their hand as they gave Lotus an affectionate smile while walking out of their classroom hand in hand. “You like that type of stuff don‘t you?” They added in a lighthearted tone as they both exited the school.
“I do.” Lotus‘ eyes gleamed with interest, a small smile on their features. “Where exactly did you get that information from?” They asked in a questioning tone before their eyes widened slightly as they quickly added in. “That there will be other Shakespeare books released, I mean.”
Syropie loosely swung their intertwined hands in the air as they casted them a quick glance before looking straight ahead again as they grinned in slight mischief. “It‘s a secret! ♡” They playfully replied before laughing at their bewildered expression.
“I‘m just kidding sweet cheeks! I found it on the mall‘s website and it said they were gonna release the other Shakespeare books.” Syropie lightheartedly poked fun at Lotus as they comfortingly squeezed their hand.
“…if you say so Syro.” Lotus murmured with a slight huff as they had finally arrived at the mall. “Come on come on! Let‘s go get those books for you, my wittle strawberry parfait!” Syropie teased as they tugged Lotus along with a newfound energy. They stumbled slightly before regaining their composure as they just followed Syropie.
Syropie and Lotus practically went everywhere inside the mall after they had gotten her books. They went to try on clothes and even bought some matching clothes to wear.
(“Do we really have to wear…these Syro?” Lotus fidgets with the clothes as they slightly gritted out those words with an embarrassed look on their face. “Absolutely. No take backsies Flower.” Syropie said with a determined tone, obviously not gonna accept any other answer. “…fine.” Lotus closed their eyes as they sighed in resignation. There’s no winning against that stubborn mind of theirs.)
They both bought some Baileys together as well and some creamy caramel chocolate that they shared together. They even went to go and try this new ice cream shop that had recently opened downtown together! …although it took some persistent pestering from Syropie for Lotus to finally give in to their lovable infuriating shenanigans. Overall you could say that their date went pretty well!
Currently, Syropie and Lotus could be seen sitting on a bench together as they watched the sunset in the distance. “…I’m really glad we could spend some time together today, Lotus.” Syropie whispered with a happy glint in their eyes.
Lotus fidgeted with her drink, lips pursed as they picked at their healed scabs slightly before perking up at the sound of Syropie‘s voice. “…mhm. Me too, I‘m so glad as well.” They nervously smiled, yet it was also a giddy looking one. It was clear they also enjoyed their sudden outing together.
Syropie grinned before their eyes widened, as if they suddenly remembered something important. “Oh right! I totally forgot to give this to you earlier!” They excitedly said, rummaging through their pockets before presenting Lotus with a nicely decorated box.
Lotus let out a quiet gasp, delicately reaching out to grab the gift box as their eyes twinkled. “You didn‘t have to…I didn’t even have anything prepared.” They fumbled with the box before opening it.
Inside there lies a pretty sparkling bracelet, consisting of their favorite colors that complimented each other quite well. Their eyes widened slightly before softening at the sight of Syropie‘s bashful smile as they scratched their cheek.
“…thank you. Really. I love it so much—?” Before they could even finish their sentence, a loud scream interrupted them as they both whipped their heads forwards where the sound seemed to be coming.
A tough looking man in his late thirties seemed to be chasing after a thief as they ran away with his pants, said thief clutched the pants securely to their chest as the intimidating man chased after them.
Both of their eyes darted towards the pantsless man, a look of confusion swirled with bewilderment was evident on Syropie‘s and Lotus‘s face.
…
He was wearing some…very cutesy themed Sailor Moon boxers. Like very cutesy. There were even pink sparkling hearts surrounding said Sailor Moon characters on the boxers.
It was…a strange sight. Who would have known that such a tough and intimidating looking man would be erm…seen wearing those types of boxers. Who could have possibly thought…???
The screams of the thief slowly subsided as the rough looking man and thief could both not be seen in the distance anymore, slowly fading away as if they never appeared at all.
The two protagonists slowly turned to look at each other with a baffled look on their faces, blinking as they turned to look at the spot where the two used to be before gazing at each other again.
“…I think it‘s time for us to go.” Lotus swiftly announced as Syropie nodded their head in agreement. “Yup. I‘ll message you on Discord when I‘m home.” Syropie said with an exasperated expression, clearly a bit out of it.
And with that, the two of them quickly bid their goodbyes. Although of course not without Syropie blowing them a kiss as they winked at Lotus while they just tried to ignore their usual shenanigans.

The moment the two of them were home, they logged into their respective Discord accounts as they called in a group chat. KAngel, their mutual friend soon joined in on the call as well as she showed off her new glamorous nails.
“I did my nails! Aren‘t they so pretty? I love this color!!!” KAngel gushes as she shows off her new nails. “Wow! You really are good at this KAngel!” Syropie complimented as Lotus nodded in agreement. “They really are.” Lotus gave her a thumbs up as KAngel smiled. “I think I can proudly say that I‘m the luckiest angel in the universe right now!” KAngel boasted, a smile planted on her lips.
They both just agreed, leaning into their chairs while listening to KAngel‘s rambling.
After an hour or so, Syropie hummed as they yawned in exhaustion. “Sorry guys, I think I‘m gonna log out now. I‘m feeling pretty tired.” The both of them didn’t seem to mind as they all just said their goodbyes while they hung up.
They truly were grateful to have both of them in their lives, they wish things could stay like this forever.
They quickly brushed their teeth and did their skincare before laying in bed as they scrolled through some Twitter posts. Syropie was about to place their phone down before receiving a message from a person they don‘t know, even though it felt so familiar at the same time.
“Hey Syrobug, I miss you. Care to catch up on some old memories with me?” The message innocently stayed there on their phone as they gnawed their lip in realization. Only one person called them that.
“Lindt…Lindor?” Syropie mumbled out, feeling conflicted as they just gazed at the message.

At the same time, Lotus could be seen on their device as they got all cozy within their room. They fidgeted with the bracelet Syropie had given her as they smiled. The bracelet was something they would definitely cherish. They swore that.
“…Sypie.” They whispered affectionately, their cheeks feeling warm as they eyed the bracelet on her arm.
They couldn’t wait to see them tomorrow.
