   Summary

   Rufus remembers a time when he’d let down his walls and made a real connection with another human being. It was supposed to be a one-time display of vulnerability with a person he never imagined having anything more than a fleeting encounter with. Unfortunately fate always had a way of unraveling his machinations. So when he sets his sight on rebuilding the world with Shin-Ra at the helm, he paints a rather large target on his back and drags the one person he had no intentions of ever dealing with again into the fray with him.
