Chapter Text
The moment those words left Caster’s mouth Sunny shot towards him with the Midnight Shard aimed for his eye.
However no matter how fast Sunny had gotten, Caster was faster. He ducked to the side to avoid the strike and brought his own sword up to slice at Sunny.
Sunny was able to shift his blade to block and was sent back a few feet. Even though he was uninjured Sunny felt as if a Carapace Scavenger stepped on his chest, he couldn’t breath. How did he know? What was going to happen? Sunny let out a shaky breath before asking in an unsteady tone.
“How?”
“I heard you talking to Harper, I don’t know why you hid your true name but apparently knowing it was enough to kill Harper over.”
Caster’s arrogant voice grated on Sunny’s ears and he wasn’t done.
“The fact you answered him was also surprising, why did you do that if you were going to kill him anyways.”
Sunny was compelled to answer but the Weaver’s mask stopped him from telling Caster about the real reason.
“He was a dangerous person and deserved to die.”
Caster seemed surprised then disgusted at Sunny’s words.
“How could that boy be a danger? Maybe he is too a sewer rat like you, honestly you disgust me. All you do is ride Changing Star’s coattail and waste air.”
Caster leveled him with a glare.
“You should just get out of my way and stop wasting my time.”
Sunny felt as his body registered the command. He moved to the side and gave Caster unrestricted access to the corridor.
Caster looked at Sunny with confusion.
“What are you doing?”
“I am getting in your way.”
Caster looked at Sunny for a moment then threw his head back in laughter.
“I have already figured out that your flaw is what causes you to tell such ridiculous lies, so now I want to know why you are letting me pass. Did you realize how futile it is to resist?”
Sunny struggled to move but the command held firm and all he could do was answer Caster’s questions.
“I am letting you pass because I want to, and I have stopped trying to resist.”
Caster walked up to Sunny but kept his sword ready.
“I don’t trust you. Drop your sword and may-.”
Caster was cut off by the clash of Sunny’s sword hitting the floor.
Caster narrowed his eyes at Sunny.
“You are being strangely obedient, why?”
“Because I will do the opposite of what you say.”
Sunny’s lie surprised Caster.
“You have never listened to me before, but you have done everything I’ve said since I said your true name.”
As Caster spoke, he became less confused, and a smile grew on his face.
“Tell me Sunny, did me saying your true name have anything to do with you listening to me?”
Sunny shook his head.
“Nope, saying my true name does nothing. I don’t even have a true name.”
Sunny grew more and more frantic as he went on and that made Caster’s smile grow wider and wider.
“Kneel.”
Sunny dropped to one knee.
“On your face.”
Sunny’s other knee went to the ground and the forehead of the Weaver’s mask met the floor.
Caster laughed cruelly and put his sword to the back of Sunny’s neck.
“It feels good to finally put you in your place.”
Caster draws the sword back and is about to bring it down before he thinks for a moment.
“As much as I want to kill you, I have a better idea. You are going to help me kill Changing Star.”
Sunny’s eyes widened and his breathing grew rapid.
“That is a great idea, I would love to help you. I definitely don’t hate you and I would never stab you in the back and cut out you're fucking tongue for saying something like that you piece of sh-”
Caster kicked Sunny across the face making him see stars.
“Be quiet. Now listen here, I am going to confront Changing Star now that she is tired from fighting and while I do so you are going to hide in the shadows and kill her from behind when you get the chance.”
Sunny felt the order cement itself and he was overcome by rage. He wanted nothing more than to kill Caster, but he was on the ground kneeling, and he couldn't get up if he wanted to.
Caster then stepped back from Sunny.
“Before I tell you to stand, let's set some ground rules. You are not to attack me in any way, you are not to make any noise that could give the plan away, when you attack Changing Star, you will always go for the kill. Now stand up and grab your blade, you are to hide in the shadows and make your way as unseen as possible behind the Changing Star. If you understand, nod your head.”
Sunny nodded his head.
“Good, let’s go.”
Caster started walking to where Nephis was, and Sunny was close behind him. Sunny was trying to stab Caster in the back the moment he turned but felt his body fighting him. It refused to make a move to attack him. Sunny felt like a passenger in his own body as he entered a shadow and disappeared into it. The mix of the Weaver mask and his own ability to hide in shadows made him practically unfindable.
After a while Caster reached the broken doors that led to the lair of the Terror.
The lair was in a state of disarray as cracks covered the walls and floor. Nephis stood in the middle of it, her armor was mostly destroyed, and she was covered in burns. Her flames were working on healing her, but it was much slower than normal.
“So, you actually managed to kill it.”
Caster’s voice made Nephis flinch. She looked at him in a mix of surprise and despair.
“What are you doing here, where is Sunny?”
Caster let out a little laugh.
“Your pet dog is dead, and I am here to make you join him.”
Nephis’s face seemed to go through many emotions before straightening out, but flames of anger could be seen in her eyes.
Before she could respond Caster disappeared from where he was and was right in front of her with his sword lashing out. Nephis was quick to block with her silver sword and a dance of fire and steel commenced.
Caster was fast and unrelenting, Nephis was skilled and adaptable. When it looked like Caster had an upper hand Nephis wrapped herself and her sword in fire. The bright light distracted Caster for a moment, and he got a cut on his cheek for his mistake.
Nephis did not say a word as they fought but Caster was not as silent.
“Oh, did I touch a nerve, if it makes you feel any better you are putting up a much better fight. Sunless died on his knees after he dropped his sword in surrender.”
“Lies!”
Nephis seemed to erupt in fire and went even faster and more brutal in her quest to kill Caster.
“He would never kneel to someone like you.”
Caster would have laughed at her if he wasn’t putting all his focus on defending himself from Nephis’s onslaught.
“You must not have known him as well as you thought, little Lost from Light was nothing but a coward.”
Nephis almost stumbled in surprise from hearing Caster say Sunny’s true name. Caster noticed this and a smug smile stretched across his face.
“Oh, you knew his true name and what happens if you say it, that must be why he followed you around like he did. Seems we aren't so different.”
Nephis’s surprise changed to rage that even her poker face could not hide. She was ready to rush back at him but a shake of the spire collapsing stopped her.
The floor started falling apart and large chunks fell from the ceiling. The spire started to shift and quake. This stumble wouldn’t normally be a big deal since Caster was also unbalanced but he was not the only one waiting for a moment to kill Nephis.
Nephis felt a sharp pain in her chest and looked down. The shadow covered blade of the Midnight Shard was protruding out, it had cut through armor, flesh and finally her heart. She looked over her shoulder to see Sunny’s face illuminated by the light from the Weaver’s mask being recalled. His eyes were red, and tears rolled down his cheeks.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
Nephis opened her mouth to respond but was unable to as the Moonlight Shard found itself buried in her throat. A wet gurgle was all the sound she could make as her lungs filled with blood. Sunny kept chanting he was sorry as the fire around Nephis withered and died. The last thing he saw was her eyes which seemed to convey an entire conversation to him.
‘I’m glad you're alive. I don’t blame you. I forgive you.’
Sunny felt the tears come harder and he almost missed the sound of the Spell.
[You have slain Dormant Demon: Changing Star.]
[Your shadow grows stronger.]
[You have received a Memory…]
Sunny almost shut down there, but the spell kept talking.
[Your shadow is overflowing with power.]
[Your shadow is taking shape.]
Sunny felt a heat building in his soul. It felt similar to when he absorbed the Weavers ichor just in his soul instead of his body. Sunny was convulsing on the ground enduring the pain when the Spell spoke again.
[Your shadow is complete.]
The world came back into focus, and he saw Caster looking down at Nephis’s dead body. When she died her memories disappeared leaving her naked and covered in wounds. Sunny was overcome with the want to kill Caster, but the previous orders stopped him.
The spire shuddered again and more of the floor and ceiling fell around them.
“So, she’s finally dead, good riddance.”
Caster looked up from the body to Sunny. He hefted his sword and started making his way to him.
“Don’t worry pest, you will join her soon.”
A large shudder took the floor out from under Caster, and he fell a short way. It was not a big enough drop to kill him, but he was no longer able to reach Sunny. He knew he needed to get to the gate quickly, but he had one last order for Sunny before he left.
“You are not allowed to go through the gate, do you hear me?”
Sunny felt himself nodding but he was unable to take his eyes off Nephis’s broken body. A piece of rubble fell and crushed her from the neck down leaving only her head showing, her lifeless gray eyes staring into his own black ones.
For some reason the Dawn Shard didn’t disappear with the rest of her memories but Sunny thought it was fitting. The crown made her look like a warrior goddess and even death could not take that from her.
Sunny crawled over to her and cradled her head on his lap. His tears dripped onto her face and carved lines in the dirt and blood that marred her pale skin.
A feeling of hopelessness filled him. He had just killed Nephis. His feelings about her were complicated but he would be lying if he did not feel some kind of love for her. He didn’t really know what it was to love someone but whatever he felt for Nephis mad losing her the most difficult thing he ever experienced.
“I’m sorry.”
His broken voice was lost in the sound of the spire collapsing around him. It was perfect in a way as Sunny felt as if the world was coming down around him literally and figuratively.
“What do I do? I can’t even go through the gate, what does it matter? I’m going to die here. What should I do?”
Sunny dropped his forehead down on hers. The moment that he touched the Dawn Shard it disappeared in light.
[You have received a Memory.]
While the Spell spoke to him, he could almost imagine that he heard Nephis’s voice as well.
‘Survive.’
The single word echoed in his head.
That's right, I just need to survive. Survive to spite all thoughts that thought I wouldn’t make it. Sunny felt a fire of determination being kindled in his chest.
It seemed as if his sword was waiting for this moment because the moment the determination hit the Unbroken enchantment activated.
Sunny stood up and gave Nephis’s face one last look. He walked away and summoned the Dawn Shard. It empowered the Midnight Shard which empowered Sunny more in turn.
Sunny made his way through the crumbling tower with one thing on his mind.
It did not matter where he was going or what manner of abominations stood in his way.
Sunny would survive.
Chapter Text
Sunny stood up and cast one last look to Nephis’s body before turning around and running. As he was running, he summoned the Dawn Shard in a brilliant flash of light. The empowering feeling rushed over him and then seemed to double.
The Unbroken enchantment of the Midnight Shard made his physique almost equal to an Awakened but now with the Dawn Shard empowering it he was stronger than most Awakened. He went to wrap his shadow around himself to further increase his strength but found something strange.
He had two shadows.
It must be because he reached 1000/1000 shadow fragments. He remembered the Spell saying something about a shadow taking form, but he wasn't really listening to it.
Instead of wrapping the shadow around himself Sunny wanted to try something else first. He used one on the Dawn Shard and the other on the Midnight Shard.
With all of these boosts Sunny felt weightless as he dashed through the crumbling spire. When he reached a hole in the outer wall he jumped out and summoned the Dark Wing.
The transparent dragonfly wings beat furiously as he fled the spire behind him. He saw no living creatures around him, as they were all killed by the soul attack from the fake sun.
Sunny moved unhindered as he went in the only direction he could think of, back to the Dark City.
It took the Sleeper army over a week to reach the spire, but Sunny was able to move much faster than they did. As Sunny was running, he noticed that the coral labyrinth was a shadow of its former self.
Even the monstrous coral was not safe from the soul attack. The once vibrant red was now hues of gray and black. All but the largest pieces crumbled and littered the ground in small chunks.
Sunny ran through the day barely stopping for a few moments to drink from the Endless Spring before running once again.
Sunny was exhausted, he had been fighting all day and now he had been running all night into the next day. At least he assumed it was the next day, considering with no sun cycle it was hard to tell. He was physically drained, but it had nothing on his emotional exhaustion. Sunny kept running because the pain provided a good distraction from his feelings.
Sunny spent most of the next day doing the same, the only thing keeping him moving was the Unbroken enchantment of the tachi.
As his body finally started failing him, he saw a familiar sight, the headless statue of the lord. He had run half the way in one go. Sunny stumbled over to the statue and used the last of his strength to climb. When he made it to the top he rolled over onto his back and passed out.
Sunny did not know how long he had remained asleep, but it did not feel like nearly enough as he awoke. It was dark but that was not a huge issue for him. Sunny stood up and his weary joints popped and creaked in resistance.
He summoned the Endless spring and sat down on the edge of the platform. The rest felt good but with it came free space for his thoughts.
What was he meant to do?
He did not know of any more gates in the area, and even if there were he would have to take it alone.
Alone.
He wouldn’t be alone if he didn’t kill his last friend here.
Sunny sat for a moment. He had no more tears to shed but that did not stop the gaping feeling in his chest. He had never felt so alone. Back in the outskirts there were still people he could talk to. He had also not known what true friendship was before he met Cassie and Nephis.
When he was in the Dark City, he did feel alone but he could go and talk to people if he wanted to. Besides he had Saint and his rock.
Sunny told himself he summoned Saint to give him an extra measure of security, but it really was to try to fill emptiness he feels.
Looking for something else to occupy his thoughts he turned his attention to his runes. He dove into his Soul Sea and what he saw blew him away. He had two Shadow Cores. That is what the Spell meant when it said his shadow was taking shape.
Name: Sunless
True Name: Lost from Light.
Rank: Dreamer.
Class: Monster.
Shadow Cores: [2/7].
‘Am I even human anymore.’
Sunny did not know how to take the fact that he had achieved something impossible by humans, and truthfully, he didn’t care about the implications. It would help him survive and that is all that matters.
Sunny then thought of the Shadow Dance, he had seen Caster and Nephis fight and with nothing else to do he studied their shadows.
Sunny stood up and summoned his sword. He started mimicking the movements that he remembered. At first it felt wrong, and he realized why, he was not to perfectly mimic the movements, but he was to understand them and turn it against them.
He danced and when his body tried to fail him, he didn't let it. He would not allow anything to hold him back anymore. He would do more than just survive, he would thrive. No abomination would stop him, no fear would hold him back. If he comes across an obstacle he can't overpower, he will outthink it, if he couldn't do that, he will study it. Find its weakness, wait for an opportune time, and strike.
Sunny would not let this break him and his sword agreed. The familiar strength of the tachi flowed into him and he finally reached the understanding he was searching for.
He opened his eyes that he didn’t remember closing and looked at the runed in front of him.
Aspect Legacy: [Shadow Dance].
Shadow Dance Mastery Level: [1/7].
First Relic: [Claim].
“Claim”
The runes glowed for a second then changed.
First Relic: Claimed.
[You have received an Aspect Legacy Relic.]
[You have received a Shadow: Soul Serpent.]
‘A shadow?”
Sunny summoned it but he looked around and could not see it.
‘Where is it?’
Sunny kept looking around but could not find it, so he looked at its description in hopes of finding a reason why.
Shadow: [Soul Serpent].
Shadow Rank: Dormant.
Shadow Class: Monster.
Shadow Attributes: [Shadow Guide], [Soul Weapon].
Shadow Description: [When the end came, Shadow was the last of the gods to be destroyed. Many have resented him for creating death, but in the end, death embraced all.]
Sunny put a mental pin to come back to the connection between shadow god and death and looked into the attribute descriptions.
[Shadow Guide] Attribute Description: "Soul Serpent guides shadow essence as it flows through your body."
[Soul Weapon] Attribute Description: "Soul Serpent can assume the form of a weapon."
‘Essence, the serpent guides essence in his body. Normally one has to be Awakened to control the essence in their body but with this snake maybe Sunny could do so as a Sleeper.
Sunny still could not see the snake, so he tried to turn it into its weapon form. He saw a black serpent tattoo that he didn’t have before slithering out from beneath his sleeve and into his hand. It then turned into a dark blade in his grip.
Sunny had it turn back to its tattoo farm and summoned his armor. The tattoo stretched across his torso and arms and seemed to be alive and moving.
He then tried to use it to guide some of his essence and after a moment he felt something. It was small but he could feel an energy coursing through the scales of the shadow. Sunny quickly found his well of energy running dry. He doesn't have a lot of essence but the fact he could use some was amazing.
Sunny thought for a moment what to do with it. He had the ??? enchantment of the Weaver’s Mask that he could try and activate but he did not think he could power a divine memory. Besides, he did not want to play around with something so powerful. He then thought of the damaged armor that he bought.
Sunny brought up his runes to look at his memories.
Memories: [Silver Bell], [Puppeteer's Shroud], [Midnight Shard], [Ordinary Rock], [Prowling Thorn], [Endless Spring], [Blood Blossom], [Dark Wing], [Moonlight Shard], [M… Un…old], [Weaver's Mask], [Broken Oath], [Light Bringer’s Flame].
Sunny summoned the broken memory and struggled under its immense weight. He set it down and leaned against it. He used his little bit of essence and fed it to the onyx armor. It was a slow-going process that took multiple cycles of feeding essence and taking breaks to regenerate it.
While he was doing this Sunny looked at the two new memories that he acquired.
The first one was from the coral golem of the first lord and the second was from Nephis herself. Sunny decided to look at Nephis’s last.
Memory: [Broken Oath].
Memory Rank: Awakened.
Memory Tier: I.
Memory Type: Charm.
Memory Enchantments: [Oathbreaker]
Enchantment Description: [The Broken Oath erodes souls of all those who approach it.]
‘A soul attack!’
Sunny quickly summoned the charm but dismissed it shortly after as he felt a burning pain in his soul from being close to the charm.
It seems like it hurts everyone near it and the wielder is not exempt from that fact.
Sunny then turned his eyes to the last memory. Sunny did not want to even look at it but not using every recourse available to him was foolish.
Memory: [Light Bringer’s Spark.]
Memory Rank: Dormant.
Memory tier: III.
Memory Description: “A divine flame that was not allowed to grow past a spark. The treacherous Lost from Light stuffed it out and this is what was left.
Memory Enchantments: [Wound Searing, [Brilliant Ember].
[Wound Searing Enchantment Description: “This flame can burn away wounds at the cost of great pain.”
[Brilliant Ember] Enchantment Description: “The flames are stronger when used by those of divinity.”
The memory appeared as a torch made of bleached white wood with a brilliant silver flame burning at the end.
Sunny looked at it for a moment, the dancing flames mesmerized him. He could see a small golden spark glowing in the center of the flames, a spark of divinity. Sunny used his sword to make a small cut on his arm. The Blood Weave would close the cut shortly but Sunny wanted to test the new memory.
He held the lit end of the torch to the wound and all he felt was agony. It was almost as bad as the feeling of growing a new shadow core. The pain was worst around the cut but the fire seemed to burn him everywhere.
Sunny pulled the torch away and saw that his arm was completely healed. The flames did as they said, healing for pain. Sunny wondered if this was what Nephis felt due to her flaw.
Either way a healing memory was more than Sunny could hope for. It almost felt like Nephis was still with him. Pushing him forward and telling him to survive.
Sunny stood and looked out over the forgotten shore. He could see the Dark City and estimated it would take him two, maybe three days to get there. It would not be too bad and the way back appeared safe.
Sunny climbed down from the statue and assessed his immediate surroundings. He saw all kinds of creatures dead around him, they must have been caught in the fake sun’s soul attack. He approached the corpse of a Carapace Scavenger and started cutting into it. He collected meat but found no soul shard. Looks like the shard was destroyed by the attack.
Not that it really mattered since Sunny had no use for the shards.
Sunny then took some of the meat and found out that the fire created by the Light Bringer’s Spark was able to cook the meat.
'Nephis is still a better cook than me and she’s dead.’
Sunny laughed at his morbid joke as he ate the cooked monster meat. With not much more to do he continued on his way to the Dark City, and then who knows from there.
Chapter 3: Not A Normal Chapter
Summary:
This is not a normal chapter. To be honest I don't know if I will ever get back to writing this novel. Life has become more complicated but in a good way. When I started writing I was quite lonely and wanted to do something with my time other than doom scrolling on YouTube shorts. I was not in a great place mentally and was looking for an escape. Things have changed since then. I made some friends and am doing better mentally and spiritually. So, what does this mean? I don't plan to stop writing but I will only do so when I get the urge to. I'm sorry if that isn't what you wanted to hear but that's what is happening. So, with that in mind, I don't think having multiple stories is the best thing for me right now. I have two main stories right now and this is the less popular one by far. It only seems fair that I continue the one more people seem to like. So, I am putting this out there as a very rough outline of where I saw this story going. I like some of it and think other parts could be better, but hey, that's why it is still an outline. If you read this and get inspired to use any of it in your writing, go ahead and have fun. Other than that, have fun, be safe, don't die.
Oh, and Spoilers ahead.
Chapter Text
Sunny meets Castor in crimson spire and Castor says his true name and makes him kill Nephis. He gets the dawn shard from her corpse and a tier three dormant memory of a torch of healing divine flame.
Sunny wanders the forgotten shore alone for a while. One place he visits is the bottom of the crater now that the dark sea is gone. He finds the skeletal remains of the radiant figure with a spear stabbed through its body pinned to the ground in the middle of the crater. Looking into its three empty eye sockets Sunny feels a seed of nightmare signifying a chance to attempt his second nightmare.
Sunny leaves not wanting to risk it and on the other side of the crater finds the withered form of the soul devouring tree. Sunny burns it down and gets an echo of it.
In the real world people ask Caster why Sunny is gone and Nephis is dead. He tells them Sunny killed her. Effie and Kai do not believe him but Cassie does as it lines up with her vision. She wonders why Nephis did not use Sunny’s true name and tells Effie and Kai about her vision and Sunny’s true name.
The story becomes well known and the public calls for the death of Sunny’s sleeping body.
Caster goes to his father and tells him about Sunny’s status and how Caster has become his master.
Caster’s father plans to use this to depose his cousin as head of Han Li Clan and tells Caster to not tell anyone else about this, even the clan head.
Cassie leads the fire keepers to clan Valor and says they will join if Clan Valor pushes for the death of Sunny.
Sunny is looking for a way to find a citadel to get home and as he is just about to give up he gets a notification that his sleeping body has been killed. Granting him a new attribute called [Lost].
During this time Sunny has been using the echo of the tree to draw in any remaining creatures for the tree to drain their power and turn it into fruit for Sunny to eat, bringing him a quarter way to his next core. Sunny has also been killing the monsters as they were controlled by the tree to get victories for the mantle of the underworld.
With no other option Sunny challenges, the nightmare he found.
The flashback scene shows the creature came from underneath the hollow mountains. It was a part of a large force that was fighting against stone soldiers. It got injured and was knocked into a large river that looked like black oil. The oil went into his bloodstream and weakened him so as it tried to run away it fell and was killed by the people of the forgotten shore. The small amount of river water mixed with the creature's blood and exploded out, turning into the dark sea.
Sunny wakes up falling. He looks down to see the dark river below him and summons his wings to glide away from it. He looks at his reflection on the glossy liquid and sees that he is a stone statue that looks similar to saint. He calls saint to him and equips the mantle of the underworld. Walking around he comes across other stone statues that show surprise when seeing saint and bow to him when they see the armor his is wearing. Eventually they are approached by a small group that is led by a tall statue that looks even more impressive than saint and is wearing armor similar to the mantle.
The statue gestures for them to follow and with no other choice Sunny does so.
They are led deeper into the mountain through clouds of mist that Sunny must keep his eyes closed through and across great stretches of true darkness.
Eventually they come to a great workshop set on a bend in the river where a tall figure with large wings is dunking some kind of armor into the oil like liquid of the river.
As the figure looks up Sunny feels a great headache and colapsis to the ground. He is bleeding from his eyes, ears, and nose. He tastes blood on his toung and the only reason he doesn't bleed out or get a hernia is the blood weave.
He looks to the side and sees Saint kneeling to the figure.
The figure speaks to Sunny, but he can’t understand it and its voice causes Sunny great pain. Eventually the figure covers his face and speaks as softly as posable and in a language Sunny understands.
It is Nether, the daemon of destiny and choice.
Nether questions Sunny on how he is there and how he is waring armor made by him with an old creation of his tainted with the presence of shadows.
Due to the specific nature of the questions and his headache Sunny cannot come up with any trick answers and tells Nether everything about the waking world, the dream realm, and his connection to Shadow God and Weaver.
Nether takes a close look at Sunny and is able to sense the connections and believes him. Looking around Nether is able to tell that this is an illusion of the past made by the nightmare spell and he curses his brother and is in awe of him for making something like the spell.
Nether wants to run some experiments including how Sunny gets memories and echos, what happens if he completes the mantel of the underworld and what happens if saint ranks up again.
He pits Sunny against increasingly difficult stone soldiers that nether says were failuers. Sunny ends up fighting, but the midnight shard is struggling to damage the higher ranked enemies, even with the dawn shards help.
Nether takes the dawn shard and dunks it into the river of the underworld. The river burns away anything too weak to withstand its power but with the unbreaking enchantment the midnight shard turns from an awakened weapon to an ascendant weapon.
Sunny asks about the river, and it turns out anything dunked into it is forced to rank up to the next tier but every time it does, so it puts more pressure on the object. It also can work on people or things, but the pain is immense, and no one has done it and survived.
Sunny asks if the daemon has dunked himself, but the answer is no, the river can only make things weaker than it stronger. Sunny asks how strong it is, and Nether says it is a Cursed Titan.
Months pass for Sunny under the roof of the daemon. During this time Sunny completes the second form of the shadow dance and gets the shadow god blood. Nether tells him not to absorb it yet because the blood weave will eat it.
He also won enough fights for the mantle to turn into its soul bound form called rock shell. But because Sunny is only dormant the armor actually got weaker, leaving Sunny with only the puppeteers shroud as his best armor.
Due to this the next fight Sunny gets in ends with him being hurt badly. He uses the healing torch for the first time in front of the daemon and Nether is surprised Sunny has an artifact holding divine flame, even weakened to the dormant level like it is.
Nether tells Sunny if he submerges himself in divinity then it will be able to suppress the blood weaves attempt to eat the shadow gods blood but Sunny needs to get a deeper connection to one of the shadow gods domains.
Life continues and Sunny has turned into a devil. Nether wants to see Sunny turn an echo into a shadow but Sunny has not gotten any echos. Sunny does not want to turn the tree into a shadow because he still does not like it.
Nether asks Sunny about the echos he has seen, and Sunny tells him about the quiet dancer. Nether wonders what makes an object an echo rather than a memory. Nether says that he wants to get one over his brother and teach his heir nether's form of sorcery.
Nether teaches Sunny to use his bastardized form of sorcery that is made of pieces of his siblings' sorcery.
Nether teaches Sunny to make a stone statue like saint. Nether tries to teach Sunny how to make a false life but even nether has not perfected it yet. Sunny asks if he has to make a new life.
Sunny makes a statue, and Nether tells him to make it as close to perfect as he can. Sunny decides not to make it look like storm goddess like nether does. Sunny decides to make the statue look like nephis wearing the sunlight legion armor.
Nether helps Sunny turn the statue into a memory. It is a tier three dormant memory that holds the same enchantments of the torch Sunny got from the torch.
Sunny enters his soul sea and calls the orb of light that represents the new statue memory. Using the sorcery of Nether Sunny is able to see the connection point between him and the shade of Nephis. Sunny cuts that connection and reattaches it to the memory turning it into a makeshift echo.
Sunny then turns it into a shadow called rock saint. This shadow has a similar mannerism to Nephis and due to the enchantments in her construction gives her the ability to produce divine flame. She requires memories to increase her strength, so Sunny uses the memories that he has been collecting to turn her into a devil and also increases saint to a devil as well.
Dunking rock saint in the river of the underworld increased her to a stone saint. Nether warned not to use her flame as that could set the section of the river alight.
Then he calls a creature that looks close to the fallen knight that saint killed to become marble saint. Nephis stone saint kill it in a similar way and becomes a marble saint with similar attributes.
With her help Sunny goes to an area of true darkness to kill something for marble saint who then becomes onyx saint.
Then an attack happens that Sunny saw during the flashback. Nether had learned about forgotten god and due to this his battle with storm goddess has now begun. Sunny spends most of the time running and eventually he comes to the place the demon and goddess are fighting. Nether purposely gets stabbed so he takes one of his feathers from his wings and stab it into one of the goddess’s wounds.
Nether threw the feather at Sunny and it dissolved into light becoming a memory.
Seeing this storm goddess sends one of her soldiers to Sunny. Nether tries to destroy them but storm blocks and the soldier is only injured. Sunny sees that this is a great demon and knows he cannot win. He summons both saints and drags the soldier down into the river of the underworld.
Sunny feels immense pain and the blood weave tries to hold him together but fails. Sunny activates the unbroken enchantment on the midnight shard, and it holds Sunny together, but it is not enough.
Sunny looks at the soldier who is starting to be destroyed by the oily river. Sunny sees its face start to dissolve and sees that it has three eyes. This is the radiant figure; Sunny only needs to outlast it, and the conflict of the dark sea will end, and Sunny will complete the nightmare.
The midnight shard cracks then break leaving Sunny with no options. The rock shell fails, and the oil starts running into Sunny’s wounds and entering his blood stream. It starts eating its way through but is not able to eat the blood weave easily.
Sunny summons healing torch memory and the dawn shard sunny is wearing is ranked up to transcendent due to being in the river water for so long. With the dawn shard empowering it Sunny brings the torch to his wounds and calls the divine flame.
The oil lights on fire and Sunny feels as the fire enters his body. The divine flame interacts with Sunny’s innate divinity and the divinity of the blood weave. The white flame turns red and all Sunny can see is a sea of flames.
Sunny is reminded of nether's warning of needing to be immersed in divinity to suppress the blood weave long enough for sunny to absorb shadow gods blood.
Sunny absorbs it and his divinity increases. Sunny expects his connection to shadows to increase but due to the fact Sunny is close to death, that he has learned to interact with the shades in his soul, and the fact he has the lost attribute and his body is dead Sunny’s connection to death is increased.
The shadow god's blood then runs through his veins and interacts with the blood red fire turning it black. Due to the intensity of Sunny’s divinity the fire becomes very stong. Sunny then summons Nephis marble saint. She joins in and uses as much fire as she can.
Sunny can not see but he hears notification Great Demon Storm Goddesses Angel Is Defeated and he gets a memory.
Sunny thinks this is all but then he gets notification Cursed Titan Styx River Of The Underworld Is Defeated and he gets an echo.
The fire was so strong it spread to the whole river and burned it away. It was this strong because nether brought his fight with storm goddess over it and their blood dripped into the river and the divinity in their blood acted like gasoline.
Nightmare ends and Sunny gets an impossible grade. He made it so the dark sea never existed. He destroyed the river of the underworld. And due to his actions the storm goddess killed nether.
He then gets another notification that due to his actions the Cursed Titan Styx became the Divine Titan Phlegethon
Sunny becomes a master and gets his shadow movement and shadow control.
He also gets a new attribute called blood of the Styx but it immediately evolved to blood of the Phlegethon. It makes it so his blood is always on fire inside of him. It makes it so he is always under the effects of the healing flames giving him a regeneration factor on par with or stronger than what nephis would have at an equal strength.
It also increases in strength relative to his divinity which is much higher due to shadow god blood and divine flame being inside of him.
Another thing is while it heals him it burns away things that are harmful to him which means sunny can use his blood as a weapon and it becomes impossible for him to be corrupted.
Sunny then wakes up and with shadow sense he can tell he is underground in a coffin. Going to the surface he sees Cassie waiting for him with a large group of fire keepers and clan valor.
Sunny runs and is on the run for a while. Everyone is looking for him and Sunny can not hide forever. Caster’s dad has told the king of swords about Sunny and the king sent a group of saints to track Sunny down.
The saints find Sunny and Caster commands him to stop running. Sunny is forced to do as Caster says. Caster tells Sunny to give him all his memories and his echos. Sunny then quickly uses many of his shadow fragments to turn the soul devouring tree and the river styx into shadows.
Caster is furious with this as Sunny can not transfer Shadows. Caster tries to take Sunny’s divine memories but the weaver mask refuses to be transferred and the feather from nether is tied to Sunny through different means than through the spell so Caster can not take them.
The divine flame torch, the midnight shard, and the puppeteers shroud were destroyed in the flaming river. The only memories of note were the dawn shard and the spear he got from killing the great demon soldier.
Caster takes both.
Sunny then is approached by Cassie and after talking she realizes that Caster has been lying and says she wants to help Sunny. Sunny does not want her help as he learns she asked valor to destroy his waking body.
For months Sunny is made to do as Castor wants but during this time he learns the only people that know his true name is Caster, Casters father, Cassie, and the King of Swords.
Sunny is also approached by Morgan who becomes obsessed with Sunny due to the fact that the marble shell makes him immune to her flaw. She is constantly around him and she learns Caster can control him but does not know why.
Caster has orders from the king to not tell so she stops asking but she negotiates with Caster and ends up helping Caster’s father become head of the Han Li clan and gives him many gifts. In exchange Caster orders Sunny to accompany Morgan during the night.
The blood of the phlegethon makes Sunny’s body temperature high compared to normal so Morgan ends up calling him her personal body warmer.
Caster makes fun of him calling him a back alley prostitute and the knights of valor say similar things.
Sunny ends up hating Valor Declares to destroy it alongside Caster and he will make it as painful as possible.
One day Caster is not paying attention and while Sunny has been forbidden from hurting Caster Sunny has a plan. Caster is in a fight he can't win and is being held by a large creature and is hurt. Sunny is commanded to save him so Sunny jumps in front of the monster's claws.
Sunny’s fiery blood drips into Caster's mouth and Caster erupts into fire and burns from the inside out. Nothing is left but a chard skeleton with the dawn shard on its head.
Due to the way the shard worked it did not disappear when its owner died so Sunny grabbed it.
Sunny then runs to the government and joins them in exchange for a pardon for his crimes. He is in a squad with Jet, Effie, and Kai who both joined the government to get away from Cassie.
They tell Sunny how Cassie told them about his true name and they promise to never say it.
Sunny has some close calls with valor but it seems like none of the soldiers of valor know his true name so they can not catch him.
Eventually it is decided that Kai will become Sunny’s master so that Valor can not take control of him again.
This is good as next time Sunny sees knights of valor they are led by Morgan who threatens to say his true name if Sunny does not surrender. Sunny starts killing them but they buy time for Morgan to escape to the dream realm, the rest die.
Kai and Effie are sent to clear their second nightmare and become masters.
Then Sunny, Jet, Effie, and Kai are sent to antarctica.
They fight for a while and during this Sunny gets his sixth core and the fourth step of the shadow dance.
After a large battle they are drawn into a conflict with Valor.
During the fight a golden spear shoots across the sky and hits Kai in the chest. The spear flies back into the hands of Caster's father.
He just returned from his third nightmare and became a saint. Sunny looks at the spear and realizes it is the tier three Great memory that Caster took from him.
Sunny goes to Kai’s dying body Kai grabs his hand and transfers him the blood arrow memory. The memory that Sunny originally sold to him. with hopes of stopping his soul from truly dying he kills Kai himself to preserve his shade in Sunny’s soul sea.
Han Li then calls Sunny lost from light but before he can give an answer Sunny takes two daggers and stabs himself in the ears.
Sunny then goes on a rampage taking a lot of damage but he heals it off. He killed a lot of masters and even a Valor saint but his essence was running low. With no other ideas Sunny summons the shadow of the styx.
It submerges him and the Valor forces trying to destroy them all. Due to the fact Sunny had already been dunked in the styx once before it was much harder on him now. The Phlegethon blood and the fact that he was the owner of the styx were the only reasons he survived.
The valor force was killed and Sunny's personality ripped Han Li’s head off under the raging surface of the river. Sunny dismissed the shadow but in his rampage the river flowed downhill into one of the settlements killing the civilians that were there.
Being submerged in the river also ranked him up to saint but Sunny could tell that if he tried to rank up again in such a way he would surely die.
Effie and Jet become angry at Sunny for accidentally killing civilians and Sunny shows no remorse.
Sunny then puts on the mask of the weaver and uses it to see the strings of fate.
Sunny follows it to the dream realm and deep into the desert. Following the strings Sunny hid from the monstrosity in the desert, killing the ones he was able, until he found his way to the tomb of ariel.
Sunny enters and finds his way to the river people led by Daeron. Sunny is questioned and eventually allowed to enter. Sunny learns about the tomb and when he learns of the weaver's worshipers of the weaver he wants to go to them.
He also asked Daeron about becoming a sovereign and in exchange for Daeron’s help Sunny uses the Mirror of Truth, which he got from a Fallen Titan he killed on his way through the desert, and used it to momentarily give Daeron’s daughter the attribute Blood of the Phlegethon.
The attribute burnt away the corruption inside of her and Daeron told Sunny about how to become a sovereign.
Sunny visits the weaver worshipers and learns from them. He then visits the prophets and finds out everything he can about the river.
Sunny hunted the creatures in the river until he got his seventh soul core.
Sunny eventually finds his way to the end and finds the soul weave and the body of both the daemon of oblivion as well as the hibernating body of the Vile Thieving Bird.
Sunny finishes off the VTB and gets an echo that he turns into his sixth shadow. Sunny calls it out and uses its ability to steal his fate.
Sunny exits to see that no time has passed and he sets out to leave antarctica. A week later he hears about the King of Swords taking to the battlefield. He also learned that Effie, Jet, and Cassie had challenged the nightmare in the tomb of Ariel and become saints.
Sunny wanders around for a couple years. He crosses the mountains looking to find a way to nethers underground workshop but instead he finds the forgotten temple.
During Sunny’s travels he visits the chained isles.
He kills a mirror monster and meets the prince of nothing. He finds out that this is prince Mordret and they come to an agreement that Sunny would free him and Mordret would tell him the secret of the ivory tower and of a hidden tower.
Sunny kills Valor’s forces and frees Mordret. Mordret enters Sunny’s soul but what he saw scared him half to death.
Seven black Suns circled the sky. In the middle was the soul devouring tree, which had become a transcendent terror, that stretched high into the space above. On its branches a monstrous looking bird glared at Mordret. Flanking Sunny on either side stood two armored statues. One a woman in black armor with darkness radiating off her and the other in unblemished white armor with platinum flames coming off her. Surrounding them was a raging river that looked to be made of dark oil. An army of monsters of all kinds stood on the other side of the river but they looked ready to jump over at any time.
Mordret was kicked out of Sunny’s soul with a warning that next time would be the last.
Mordret told Sunny about the towers and Sunny brought Mordret to the seed of Nightmare. As Mordret was completing his nightmare, Sunny explored the two towers. Sunny found the bone weave and learned the truth that nether left behind.
Sunny was able to use the feather nether gave him that was covered in storm goddess’s blood to create two Drop of Ichor memories.
Sunny goes to Song with Mordret and joins them. During the next three years Sunny made himself loved by the people of Song as a young man who ranked up very quickly on his own, he became known as Song’s only son. No one remember him but that was fine, he didn’t have a reputation other than as nephis’s killer.
He found Rain and started training her and after a few years he says that she is his adopted sister.
Sunny uses the fact he has eight bodies to great use and assassinates lots of Valors people. He ends up finding out Cassie convinced Jet and Effie to join valor as the government has collapsed due to the death toll in antarctica.
Sunny learns more about his control over death as a child of shadow god and learns from the Queen of Worms.
He learns that he can use one of his shadow bodies and instead have it manifest as one of the shades of creatures he killed. It is similar to the ability of the soul serpent.
After a lot of learning Sunny is able to do necromancy like the queen of worms can. Eventually Sunny stages a coup, with the help of Mordret who became a saint and worked with Sunny.
Sunny takes over the Song domain and becomes a Sovereign. His new abilities allow him to turn any dead creature into a shade in his soul. He also is able to manifest any shade from his soul into the real world. When they are outside his soul they can not defend it and If it dies outside his domain then it is gone forever.
Sunny moved the Forgotten temple to Godgrave and manifested his domain. With his army of unkillable shades he claimed many of the citadels and expanded the song domain.
He gave the drop of Storm Goddess blood to Rain and trained her to be a saint.
He then crafted another stone statue that had wings made from nether’s feather. One other thing that separated this saint from the others was that this saint was male. Looking at the face many people would be able to recognize Nightingale. Sunny then took the shade of Kai that he got from finishing him off when he was on the brink of death and he entered it into the body of the stone saint.
Sunny then upgraded it to a marble saint and brought out the second drop of storm goddess’s blood. Giving the ichor to the marble saint caused it to turn into the Sapphire Saint.
Sunny then waged war against the Valor and the Sword domain.
