The Last Fix

Summary:

Amidst the explosive grunge scene in 1993 Seattle, Riley Brooks finds herself broken after an abusive relationship with her first love comes to an end. Struggling to put the pieces back together, she has a chance encounter with the friendly, but enigmatic Landon Cross one night at a bar, oblivious to his burgeoning career as a rock star. Despite being warned about Landon, she can't help but feel drawn to him, repeating the toxic patterns from her past. Complicating matters, Landon is entangled in a toxic relationship with Meadow, his girlfriend. Riley finds herself torn between her friendship with Meadow and her secret love for Landon, who represents everything she desires, but is also battling a dangerous heroin addiction. In the midst of a chaotic mix of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, Riley experiences danger and loss, unsure of her own limitations. As she invests in Landon's tumultuous journey, she must decide if she can save her own shattered soul before it's too late.

8/20/2025 I’m sorry I haven’t been updating. I’ve put myself into the horrible anxiety/perfectionism cycle.
I want to let my readers know that The Last Fix is NOT an abandoned project and will be finished. I know everything that happens from beginning to end and I’ve actually written a good amount of the book already.
My primary issue has been that it’s very overwritten and I just haven’t had the discipline lately to make myself sit down and edit it. It’s a lot to sort through.
Not to mention, I’m pregnant and have been feeling too shitty to make myself do anything more than go to work and then lay in bed when I get home.

I’ve had the next two chapters ready for months and they ended up being 55 pages!
I have looked them over so many times that I no longer can see them through an editor’s lense and needed to give myself a break.

Not only that, but I ended up rewriting the end of chapter 14 (15 on here) multiple times. Landon and Riley have an intense and spicy moment and I had to decide how far I could take it without fucking up the trajectory of the rest of the book.
There was originally going to be nothing happening, but I figured by page 200ish there should be payoff for the readers while still keeping things believable and without deviating from Riley’s arc.
Anyway, I plan on getting these out soon, I’m just waiting on these first trimester trenches to pass!
