“You mistake of a child!” He roared, “after all I have done for you! “
“You speak like you have done so many things for us! “ he screamed, his voice filled with pure anger. His face showed so much hatred.
“I should have thrown these flowers away long ago… “
He didn’t bother to hear the words coming out of his mouth. He had to have a clear mind after all.
“… don’t you think so? My child. “ 'no.' Is what he would say.
No words were formed for his mouth to let out. His hands and legs spoke for him instead.
“You dare speak to your father that way? “
Slash
Slash
Clank
Dodge. Dodge. Charge. Slice. Repeat.
He was once taught to have patience.
His brother taught him to never rush to victory, 'never become cocky. ‘ he would smile.
He didn’t know for how long they have been fighting. He couldn’t remember why.
'Yet, he was the one who done that mistake like a fool he was. ‘
Swords clashed each second, he had made the mistake of charging without timing. His father dodged like it was nothing, earning a kick to his side, sending him backwards.
‘Let’s run away together, brother. ‘
He tried to catch his breathe, he didn’t know what he was doing anymore.
‘I’m sorry. ‘
His father appeared in front of him catching him off guard. He was too quick, too skilled.
'Of course, he has experience.’ His brother would say.
He could feel his legs hurting. He blocked the sword and continued to block each slash aiming at him. His breath was shaky, uneven. He was losing.
He felt the edge of the sword make a cut on his cheek, he immediately made distance between them. While catching his breath his father took the opportunity to speak.
“Surrender child. “ he hissed, “let your father guide you, and I shall actually teach you how to become the next census bureau. “
He wanted to cuss, scream, yell at him.
“You have potential to become the next ruler of this house. “ he continued, coming close to him. He couldn’t help but become a bit nervous, one wrong step and it’s game over, he knew.
His legs were close to giving out on him, and his hands shaking non stop. He wasn’t build to last this long.
'weak.'
“you share the same flaws as your twin brother. Too loving, too weak. “ he spat. Smile's eyes turned sharp at the mention of his brother. 'The one he killed. ‘
'How dare he mention his name! ‘
“innocence and kindness can be beautiful qualities, “ he changed into a fighting position, smile's body screaming at him to do the same, “yet they are so useless. “ father laughed before charging towards him with the tip of his sword aiming to his stomach. His body moved on instinct, his arms moving to block.
“foolish child! “ he grinned.
The fight continues.
“Where is your brother? “ father asked,
“I don’t know. “ he answered honestly.
“I saw him outside, he’s making a funeral for his pet spider. “ a kid answered for him.
“I see. “ father hummed.
“baribal, go see your brother. “
“yes father. “
“what are you doing? “
Smile didn’t bother responding.
“I brought cake…you know, for your pet. “ he said awkwardly.
He hummed, “spiders don’t eat cake. “ despite baribal only being able to see brother's back, he could tell he had a small smile on his face.
“I see… “ he totally knew that.
…
“Do you want it then? “ he sighed. As long as his brother responded, that would mean he was okay.
After some moment of awkward silence his brother finally responded,
“Okay.”
-
“Let’s run away. “ his brother once said. He didn’t know where it came from or why he wanted to leave.
Actually,
He knew why.
Father.
Father has always been the root to their problems. A parental figure who once made them believe that he was caring, loving father.
One who was not strict, harsh.
In the end he was the opposite. A manipulator who shaped the innocence of children into the opposite. He turned them all into weapons.
Weapons for his Lord, one of the higher ups of the federation.
‘Mr. Duck', an innocent enough name to fool one into thinking they were no harm.
Part of him wanted to agree, to run away and start fresh.
The other part of him though… it craved change to the house. Part of him believe he could be better, that he could be someone who would actually have the children of the house be loyal to. A better ‘father' per say.
So he decline.
“Baribal has been eliminated, “ he couldn’t breathe,
“he committed the sin of betraying the house. “
Ah.
-
At that moment, he could feel the electro flowing smoothly around his body.
It was almost as if he had been doing this for a long time now. Perhaps he has, perhaps not. The overwhelming feeling demanded blood, it started to take over his vision. The curse was speaking loudly. For once, he decided to listen to its wishes.
“father.” He breathed, making his hatred be known. Father sensing his next move, he charged up Pyro around his sword.
In a blink he appeared in front of father, his body was moving on its own now. He was the spectator, watching as he flung father up to the roof with a single kick, so much force he didn’t think his body possessed. The colorful windows on the roof shattering the moment his body made contact with it, revealing the beautiful night sky that was shut out. The moon shinning proudly as father became trapped in the center, resembling an insect trapped in a spider web. His blood appearing out of his mouth.
He wondered if he had broken any bones yet.
With a single hand movement large amount of electro was formed, listening to every bit of his movements. Craving to be released, to satisfy and put his hatred to rest for once and for all.
“The answer is no. “ he refused to become king. He refused to become everything father wanted.
He breathed.
“You’ll be a great ruler. “ his brother had said.
At that moment, smile couldn’t help but think,
‘That sounded nice. ‘
Almost everything was destroyed in a matter of seconds.
-
“You are telling me a weakling like him managed to kill one of ours? “
“They should be executed. “
“… why does the emperor want to recruit someone like them… “
He ignored the murmurs going around his cell.
He tried to distance his hands away from each other only for the restraints to stop them from moving further. Testing how tough they were again before settling down. 'Be patient', he told himself, trying to stop a laugh from escaping his lips.
‘Foolish.’
The room had no windows therefore there was no telling whether it was day or not. He wondered if he could kill everyone present and flee, there was always a chance right?
His stomach turned at the possibilities. He bit his tongue. 'Now wasn’t the time to be anxious. ‘
He made it so far.
‘But brother… ‘ Ah he almost forgot.
His brother was dead, wasn’t he?
Realization finally sink in.
He lost his only family left. Hell, what was he supposed to do now?
'To think it would be him dying before me… ‘ he could only laugh at his misery.
Anyway, he had to think about what to do next.
Finally, the sound of keys rattling and the door opening made him look up.
“your trial begins. “
He let his mind wander.
-
It’s been years since he officially joined the federation.
Years since he became the new guardian of the house.
If he was being honest, at first it felt like he could finally breathe again. Of course he didn’t exactly have much freedom, after all he was only a recent ‘employee’ meaning he had a lot of paperwork and missions to complete ahead of him.
He breathed in the fresh air of his old home, now become one with nature. How long has it been since he came back here? Looking back at it now he really should have held back a bit. Perhaps then there would have been a building left.
Just as he made his way across the ruins that once used to be a beautiful building, a figure caught his eye.
He couldn’t help but be taken a bit off guard.
Right in front of him stood a child.
A boy who looked no older than 5 years old. white hair coated in dirt and leaves, he could see some small branches sticking out in some places. Their eyes being blue, his face too was covered in dirt. Lastly, he was carrying a toured blanket. He couldn’t help but wonder for how long he stayed here, how is the child still alive? Why hasn’t he noticed him until now?
The child stopped right in front of him. He didn’t know what possessed him to immediately kneel down to their level but he did.
He didn’t know why but he felt the urge to take him and have him get cleaned up immediately. Perhaps he knew if they stayed like this any longer, they would not survive.
'Wouldn’t that be a waste.' He thought.
Right, he needed people loyal to him if he wanted to survive being part of the federation.
He sighed.
“come with me, child. “ slowly he raised his hand, carefully taking a leaf out before resting his hand on top of the child's hair.
“I will raise you like one of my children. “ he spoke softly.
“I hereby pardon your crimes, and bestow upon you a new name. “
“not like one who claims to be a 'loving’ and 'caring' father. “
“This title and legacy of bloodshed are yours and yours alone to bear. “
“But a 'strict’ a ‘unfeeling' mother. “
“For the children shall call you cucurucho. “
“and shall we call you, census bureau. “
As far as he knew, he had chosen a steady path.
There is a lot of work to be done.
