Chapter 1: Prologue (Journal Entry #4)
Chapter Text
—Ocotober 26th, 1942.—
My work is done, I’m being scrapped. They tried to preserve me but at least I fought well in these last few decades, from Santiago to the Boxer Rebellion. I hear that they’ve now made battleships larger and better than Dreadnoughts, I don’t think they’ll last though. Air power’s strong and not even the most powerful of guns can match a well placed bomb or torpedo. My memory shall live in though, I hear that my mast will be used to dedicate the fallen from the Spanish-American War.
Good…
(A/N: I’m back and refusing to sleep while typing this on a phone, I was inspired by a story on Wattpad and wished to make Oregon in the way I think it should be, covered in pitch and lit on fire before being tossed into the Grand Canyon)

In all seriousness I’m from Oregon and while a do visit for family I probably know that I will mess up a lot in terms of history when it comes to this.
Chapter 3: How it started
Chapter Text
He was supposed to be scrapped, then sold off to the Japanese. That’s how it was supposed to go. All timelines had this happen.
But it didn’t work this time.

February 13th, 1936, off the coast of Florida.
Recent activity shown evidence of other worldly life, a race calling themselves “##########”, we called them “Sirens”. They look like young pretty women however they used that to draw people into a sense of ease, killing and slaughtering everything in their way. Word has it they’ve attacked all major powers. Tokyo bombed, Rome burned, New York and San Francisco turned to rubble, London cast into darkness, Berlin blown to bits, Paris shattered, and Moscow and St. Petersburg flooded and frozen. A world non-aggression pact has been called by all major powers, it shall last till the Sirens are gone for good.

September 1st, 1939, Berlin.
The world of science rejoiced as a break through worthy of Athena was made. A glowing cube turned girl, she was young and wielded the name of the battleship and person; Bismarck.
Chapter 4: The Incident
Chapter Text
December 7th, 1941, 15 Miles West from Midway
—————————
The new Ship girls of the now Sakura Empire are arriving soon. Most militaries have switched to using these girls as elite fighters against the Sirens, which only have a land foothold in parts of Alaska and Siberia. However the Sovi- Northern Parliament is working on liberating those lands and in return securing a safer trade route with the west coast of North America.
Many see this as a diversion for the main front on the sea, that may be true but the ship girls have the coast secure.
However those people complaining are probably old naval folk who miss the old ways of naval combat. Most naval fighting ships are now destroyers for convoy escorts. The girls- sorry I shouldn’t call them that, they prefer Kansen rather than just “girls”. Anyway, they’ve replaced ship v ship fighting and prefer to be left alone unless another Kansen joins them. I see no problem for now, just worried about mutiny and revolt.
I have recently been assigned along with my ship to be a part in an expedition to Tokyo to help form an alliance. Many naval officers there are suspicious of other nation’s Kansen, so me and other veterans who served on this ship have been called to service to sail with British and “Eagle Union”- We still call them “American”- ships and Kansen.
The Sakuran Kansen joining us are Akashi, Akagi, Kaga, Nagato, Mikasa, and several destroyers. On the American side are Enterprise, Hornet, Yorktown, New Jersey, California, Arizona, and a large amount of destroyers and some submarines.
Oh yeah, the British. They’ve brought along Queen Elizabeth, Warspite, Illustrious, Unicorn, Hood, King George V, Prince of Wales, and a handful of destroyers including Javelin (A/N: While I don’t say it, all of the Starter Squad is here, Z23 came on her own to represent Iron Blood alongside the Royal Navy).
With that all stated it’s time I get to my ship, sadly the slowest ship in the formation, but the oldest;
USS Oregon
Looks like we’re meeting up with the Sakura Empire now.
—————————
(Mikasa POV)
As we see the American and British fleet in the distance, I can’t help but wonder about the non-Kansen ship that’s gonna be with us. Kaga doesn’t trust the fact that humans will see us in action, but I don’t mind. Nagato is nervous but that’s normal considering she’s supposed to make a peaceful exchange with the captain.
I am excited for one reason about the ship and her crew. I hear they’re a pre-dreadnought class battleship similar to me. I can’t wish to compare armaments.
———————— 15 days later… ————————
(Oregon Captain POV)
As we sailed past the Philippines I wonder if the amount of coal we have can last us. We’re still several days out and we may just barely make it.
We want to land and restock at the Philippines but the Kansen said to not hurt and to leave and need of supplies to them. They have stores of food and water aboard, but no coal. The Navy planned to turn the coal engines and convert them to oil like other ships, but this treaty is far more important.
I guess we’ll just have to be towed the final day-
What!
There, 20 miles out, was dim light. Based on the color and dimness, it was a fleet of siren ships. I immediately ordered my crew to general quarters in preparation of an attack, and radio silence ordered us to be quiet. I didn’t know why the Kansen hadn’t reacted, though by looking at the schedule they have a meeting now and are probably arguing. I do what I can and order my ship off the main fleet and send a customized landing craft turned motorboat to Enterprise and Akagi as that’s were the meeting may take place.
The farther we got from the fleet, the more braze my men got. I ordered all lights to be out with the engine barely running as we got closer and closer.
10 miles.
8 miles.
5.
3.
2.
By this time we had turned off the engine, silence enveloped the ship. I ordered all guns broadside to starboard the lay fire down in hopes of buying time for the Kansen to deliver the message.
We knew that death was inevitable, but we would take down as many as possible to buy time.
———————
(Mikasa POV)
That dumbass, he just sailed off without telling anyone. Kaga’s claiming he’s now aiming at us to sink us, Enterprise started an argument about sending search aircraft with Illustrious for some reason. Nagato and Queen Elizabeth are clearly stressed. And now Akashi is saying Sirens have been spotted 27 miles away.
Wait. That’s what they’re doing.
They’re moving to fight a fleet on their own. . .
———————
(No one’s POV)
Oregon’s guns opened up halting all arguments when they sound of planes appear. The Kansen quickly send up fighters to kill the planes, while doing that they noticed that a massive explosion came from the siren feet.
It was Oregon, a shell penetrated the armor and hit an ammo compartment. Luckily it only took out one of their main guns but knocked out a third of the lower calibers. The turret knocked out exploded hundreds of feet into the air and the ship started burning.
As the crew of the Oregon worked overtime to keep the ship afloat, the sirens moved in between the Kansen and Oregon. The aircraft proved vital in defending Oregon but they needed to focus most of their attention on the fleet coming towards them. Akagi launched wave after wave of Zeros as Enterprise and Yorktown’s dive bombers scored large amounts of damage on the siren vessels. Battleships like Hood and New Jersey were tearing apart any ships the planes couldn’t hit while the destroyers sent waves of torpedoes and laid down heavy anti-air fire.
As the fight carried on radio silence was broken in order to communicate easier in the heat of battle. During this Captain Smith was scolded for endangering his crew, in which he responded with:
“We’re all in our mid forties or late 30s at the youngest, we took the call to bear arms and we followed it with our experience. We are prepared to die to protect our nation.”
His words were taken by the Kansen and that encouraged them to fight harder, hoping that it would not have to come to their fellow captain dying. (A/N: The Kansen are at base level a captain, however many have been promoted based on age and experience.)
——2 Hours Later——
The fight was slowing down, overwhelming AirPower meant that the Kansen had a high chance of winning. And Oregon was still afloat somehow. The crew was experienced in the workings of their ship and was one of the best damage control crews in the entire navy. Of course the Kansen and their Manjuus were first with repairing months worth of damage in days but they always dumb down their achievements (sometimes *cough* Akashi *cough*).
As the battle neared it’s end Akagi was about to be hit by a handful of dive bombers, as she was tired she was almost hit before somehow a shot from Oregon’s 5 inch guns hit the bombers and blew them out of the air.
As Akagi looked towards their savior she noticed torpedoes coming towards Oregon, she yelled out over the radio “Oregon, torpedoes starboard!” But it was too late. A loud roar came from Oregon’s hull and the stern launched up about 50 feet in the air, before slamming down and splintering in half. The steel that made up the ship cracked and what little ammo remained blew apart the insides of the ship.
It took 5 minutes, and the USS Oregon was no more. Sinking with no survivors.
