Notes:

Hey, everyone. I hope you're doing well. This is a very short story I wrote for fun while I was bored, so I apologize it's not my best. I wasn't even sure to actually publish this at first. Consider this either a filler or the beginning of a series where I post very short stories at random. School keeps me very busy, so I don't really have time nor strength to write anything more high quality and elaborated. I hope this is still somewhat enjoyable. This fanfiction is the first Diablo piece that I post, and it features my Diablo III OC Larwix Solares. You're going to see more of him and Kormac in more high quality stories in the future. Again, I hope you will still enjoy this work.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Well, I guess it was nice to know you all,"
Lyndon's words reflected a sarcastic desparation as his charming, manly voice echoed through the never ending corridors of the cave. The scoundrel, along with Larwix, Kormac and Eirena had been surrounded by an endless herd of monstrous beasts, entities lustful for the sweet scent of flesh and the bitter taste of dreath. The four travellers prepared to fearlessly fight the malevolent, ravenous entities that approached the group; Larwix swiftly jumped back, casting a powerful, destructive Nova spell towards the unprepared, bestial foes, before mentally commanding his undead skeletons to rush forward, attacking the monsters with no trace of mercy. Kormac swung his sword as he fiercely hurried into battle, his muscular form protected by his strong, proud armor, slaying any enemy that dared to cross his unstoppable rush towards a glorious victory. "For the innocent!" He screamed as his sword decapitated one of the beasts, his voice echoing throughout the cold, harsh walls of the cave, Larwix smirking at his companion’s voice as a light shade of pink adorned his candid, gorgeous face. Lyndon loaded his crossbow, shooting an arrow to a closing enemy and masterfully hitting the monster right between its yellow, animalistic eyes. He smiled to himself, before noticing a pair of monsters silently creeping towards him from behind him. He shot a self reassuring glare towards them as he swiftly threw a smoke bomb at his feet, allowing the aeriform fluid to swallow him as the two beasts coughed, their eyes stinging while the smoke penetrated within their lungs. They opened their teary eyes to look for their succulent prey, but as the gaseous substance dissipated, the thief was nowhere to be seen, and before they were even given the chance to frantically move their tight pupils and look around to try and find him or sniff the air to detect his scent, arrows coming from behind pierced their chest and abdomen; they wailed in agony, releasing an uncontrolled, painful scream that seemed to echo within the deepest, most intimate insides of the cave and beyond, before their trembling legs could not substain their forms anymore, their bodies colliding with the cold, rocky, merciless ground. Lyndon's smile merely increased as he observed his work; Eirena's fascinated, glimmering pupils were directed towards the scoundrel, whose actions had unconciously distracted the young enchantress from a spell she was about to perform. "Wow, you certainly got tricks up your sleeves, Lyndon!" She exclaimed with admiration, and Lyndon winked at her, however, his pride and assurance soon faded into obscurity as he noticed a large, monstrous beast getting closer to Eirena from behind, without the young woman noticing. "Eirena, look out!" Were the words he barely had the time to pronounce, before Larwix pounced forward and grabbed Eirena, taking her away from the monster that was just about to strike a powerful swing of its muscular fist. They fell onto the ground, the necromancer protecting her from the harsh impact with the rocky ground, before he extended an arm and a hand, hitting the beast with a decaying curse as his summoned army of the dead rushed towards it, finishing the monster as its bones had already began to rot under the merciless touch of Larwix's dark magic. From within the safe, secure grip of the white haired man’s arms around her frame, Eirena looked towards the necromancer's war hardened, yet still gorgeous face, her eyes sparking with grateful admiration, "Thanks, Larwix," she pronounced as she exhaled, realizing she had been holding her breath within her lungs. The Priest of Rathma looked at her, a determined look painted over his eyes as he released his grip and helped her get up, "Save your strength and get ready to fight, we've got more of those coming." He said, not blessing her with enough time to even think of a proper response as he rushed back to battle, his undead skeletons soon following him. Eirena smiled at him, before she finally casted the spell she had prepared earlier towards the beast that was closer to her. Kormac had observed the whole scene, a smile painted over his face; over the time he had spent with the necromancer, he had learnt to admire him more and more, appreciating his bravery, his intelligence and his remarkable desire to bring peace to the troubled world. It was thanks to Larwix if the four of them had come together, and they truly made a great team; as he continued slaying any beast that dared to cross his path, Kormac's arteries were suddenly flooded with a wave of peace and serenity; even when all hope appeared to be lost and the darkness of life would mercilessly blind them, they knew they could always count on each other and serve their presence as a source of benevolent light, a glimmer of joy within the unbearable obscurity, born to restore peace within their conscious when it was needed the most. He knew that, with Larwix by their side and the trust they felt towards each other, they would have succeeded yet another day, they would have been able to see the sunrise once again.
