It was a pretty late night, both young turtles were awake waiting for their favorite cartoons to begin in a few minutes, it was a lot of fun for the youngest turtle of course the older one was getting very tired and was about to fall asleep any minute. The young turtle would whisper to his brother trying to keep him awake.
“Come on, don't fall asleep on me Donnie, we gotta stay awake for our favorite cartoon.”
Mikey reply, he was very hyper trying to keep his older brother awake, not wanting to miss a single minute. Of course the older turtle had other idea in mind since he was very tired.
“Why couldn't we record this episode and watch it later.... like normal people do....”
“Because it wouldn't be the same. If we recorded it, we wouldn't be watching it together. And no way am I going to watch it without you.”
Mikey replied, he wanted to be the first one to watch Super Robo Mecha Force Five with his brother, that's their favorite cartoon. Donnie would look at the time it was 2:56AM, and their favorite show would begin at 3AM so he thought of just resting for a bit would be a good idea.
“ just ...wake me... up...in 4 minutes…”
Donnie said, he was very tired while Mikey continued jumping around their room.
“Alright I'll wake you up in four minutes”.
Mikey watches the time every second waiting for those four minutes to pass, and right before 3AM, Mikey goes and wakes Donnie up
“Donnie it's almost three AM!!, time to wake up so we can watch our favorite cartoon!!.”
Mikey yelled, Donnie immediately cover his ears scared of how loud Mikey has been just now.
“huh?... Mikey...keep it down..you want us to get caught....”
Donnie said he looked back towards the door hoping his oldest brothers or father didn't wake up due to Mikey's yelling.
“Oh, my bad.”
Mikey said with a smile, speaking in a quieter voice now knowing that he might wake up the rest of his family.
“Come on, man, I know you're tired, but 3AM is about to hit and we don't want to miss our favorite cartoon. Do you?”
Mikey said enthusiastic, Donnie would only rubbed his eyes feeling really tired and spoke.
“I don't...want to miss it either...but I'm really really tired....Mikey.......and that's...two reallys”
Donnie was closing his eyes yet again but Mikey couldn't let that happen
“Come on, D, stay awake just for the show. Do it for me....”
Mikey was persistent in keeping Donnie awake since he knows that if Donnie falls asleep, he will miss the show. Mikey then shakes Donnie slightly to try to keep him up.
“Wake up big bro..”
“alright fine... I'm awake ..I'm awake”
Donnie would reply in an annoyed tone, he knew Mikey would not leave him alone unless he watch this with him.
Yay!
Mikey jumps of happiness knowing that Donnie is now fully awake and he would not miss the show. Mikey smiles brightly at Donnie, and both prepares to watch the show together.
Mikey and Donnie really loved watching Super Robo Mecha Force Five, it was their favorite TV show and they enjoyed it a lot. They both laughed alongside the characters on the show since it had a lot of funny moments and they loved that. It didn't take long at all for Mikey and Donnie to get into the show and become addicted to it since it was just that entertaining and hilarious.
Skele-lord:Dash coolstar. Once again your battle charge into battle has caused you great battle misfortune!
[Laughs]
Blip: I told you we should wait Dash
Ooh [thwack]
Dash:Quiet, Blip. Your cowardice stifles me!
Dashcoolstar then pressed a button on his wrist
Mikey began getting anxious at this scene he didn't know what would happen he was so excited and started getting a bit loud.
“Oooh, I wonder what is going to happen. This is so exciting!!”.
Mikey said feeling hyped as he watched the show. He couldn't help but be a little bit loud since he was so excited and the scene and was looking forward to seeing what would happen next as the show had captured his interest.
“...yes..he pressed the button... This should be good…”
Donnie said seeing how the character in the show had turned into a giant robot and it was about to attack the enemy, Mikey and Donnie were just too excited.
Dash: You don't know the information skele-lord that in our possession is a great cause of fear to you.
“Oooh the character just turned into a giant robot and he's about to fight the enemy which is really cool. I wonder how he's going to win or attack.”
Mikey said, he was getting even louder since the scene was very entertaining and exciting. He wasn't focused on being quiet since the show had his full attention. Mikey and Donnie were both getting quite loud as the cartoon continued playing, both not paying attention to staying quiet.
Went they were waiting for this moment the TV turn off, and then they hear the voice of their father with a stern voice which caught both boys off guard
“Why are you two doing awake at this hour?”
Mikey: Uhh...
Mikey and Donnie immediately froze up from the sudden voice of their father and the TV being turned off. Mikey knew that they were caught. They knew that they were both in a lot of trouble for staying up late to watch their favorite TV show.
Mikey: Well...ummm...
Mikey decides to throw Donnie under the bus as his way of trying to get out of trouble. Mikey hopes that by throwing the blame on Donnie, it would be enough to get him out of trouble.
"Uh...it was his idea to stay up late and watch the show".
Mikey screamed, Donnie then turn towards Mikey with a glare, did his youngest brother just blame him, Donnie wasn't going to let this slide.
"My idea!... It was your idea Mikey....."
Donnie reply, both boys were just arguing now who's to blame, so Splinter crossed his arms and looked at both of the boys as he spoke.
“So I am getting two completely different stories here. who really wanted to stay up and watch tv?”
Both brothers continue pointed at each other
Mikey: It was his idea! He's a liar.
Donnie: no!...it was his idea!
Mikey tries to put the blame on Donnie once again because he really doesn't want to take the blame. Mikey thinks that by blaming Donnie over and over again would make Mikey off the hook.
Splinter stands there as the boys keep point fingers at each other to the point that Splinter got quite irritated.
“ENOUGH!”
Splinter yells as he stands to his full height and stands looking at both of them with his arms still crossed.
"I don't care who came up with the idea, you two knew better to stay up this late."
Mikey and Donnie: .......
Mikey and Donnie look at each other as if they knew what was going to happen, which was to get grounded. The young turtles stayed silent as they both knew that they had no argument to back themselves up.
“you both are grounded for two weeks for breaking your bed time rule.”
Splinter says this without hesitation, he is not willing to negotiate with the two on this matter.
"two weeks...isn't that like 14 days..?"
Donnie spoke first which Splinter glares at him for playing smart so Donnie decides to just remain quiet.
“14 days? That's nothing.”
Mikey replied like it was nothing. Mikey would only smirk and chuckle.
Of course splinter didn't see it as some sort of joke for the young turtle so he decided to extend their punishment so he spoke with a more stern tone.
“Since you said 14 days is so easy, how about we make it 3 weeks.”
Donnie was immediately shocked
“3 weeks?.... Still nothing.”
Mikey responded by getting a cocky look on his face as if getting grounded for 3 weeks would be a walk in the park.
“make that 4 w__”
Donnie immediately covered Mikey's mouth from finishing that sentence and nodded to their father.
“We understood sensei ... 3 weeks it's fine....”
Donnie inmidiently responded, Splinter turned his attention to Donnie
“Well at least one of you is acting somewhat responsible.”
Splinter then turns his attention back to Mikey
“As for you, you keep this up and it could be 5 weeks.”
splinter would then lets out a sigh at the fact that Mikey still has not learned his lesson and that Donnie is now forced to be the brains in this moment. So Splinter lets his arms rest at his side and looks at both of the boys before speaking.
“you're both grounded for three weeks starting tomorrow. and no tv. Now go to bed!!”
Both Mikey and Donnie groan and headed to their bed, that didn't stop Donnie for been angry at Mikey.
“Mikey....I'm serious going to kill you dude”
Mikey began getting scared not understanding the joke seeing how his older brother was angry and knew he may had took it too far.
“Donnie you're not actually gonna kill me are you?”
“dude...get up.... Man...I can't believe we are grounded for 2 weeks….”
Donnie reply to Mikey who seemed scared but then a wave of relief cross him since this wasn't Raph who he was looking at, it was Donnie, the nicest brother to ever had, as he only grin at this even went they both got in trouble
Mikey: “You mean 3 weeks…”
Donnie: “3 weeks because of you!!....you ...idiot…”
Mikey would only giggled at this, knowing it was indeed his fault but he just didn't care.
“Yeah I know it was my fault but hey that doesn't mean we can just stay bored with all that time that we have before we get ungrounded.”
Mikey said, still trying to get that cocky attitude of his even as if his brother was rightfully angry at him.
Mikey: “so …any ideas?We can't just sit around and do nothing all day. We have to find something to do to pass the time.”
Donnie: “Right now what I should do is go to bed and you should too....”
Mikey: Yeah I know we should go to bed but like, I don't want to sleep just yet. I want to do something else since I still have some energy left in me and I don't wanna just waste it on sleeping so I was wondering if you had any ideas of things to do that would pass the time during our grounding?
Donnie smiled at this, knowing there isn't really a limit for Mikey's energy since he's always so hyper.
"some energy? Dude... You always have energy..".
Donnie said and it made Mikey smiles as he hears his brother compliment. Mikey then proceeds to go turn on the TV in the room.
"yeah I guess you're right about me always having energy".
Mikey reply, he was glad that his brother knows about him too well of being hyper and he can rely on Donnie to just understand him and know how he acts.
Donnie: Are we really going to continue watching Super Robo Mecha Force Five after dad told us not to?...
With the time been at 4:38AM both boys had enough time before it hits sunset
Mikey: yeah I don't really care about what dad said, I'm still watching this show.
Donnie only shrug and join Mikey, both boys stay up all night watching their show excited and happy as they giggled in some part of the show, Mikey and Donnie stayed up the entire night just to watch their favorite show as they get to enjoy the whole entire night with no worry about getting caught, or getting in trouble for breaking the rules that they had just gotten grounded for. Both brothers would make jokes and laugh about certain things that had happened in the show as they were now enjoying the show to its max.
Mikey and Donnie would fall asleep while watching the show as their tiredness would finally catch up with them after a long fun night of watching their favorite show. Both of the brothers would be so tired by the time it was day. Splinter made his way to see his younger sons and he spot them on the ground, what where they doing.
"Michelangelo, Donatello, you are both up early-"
Splinter said this and he notices that he can still see the tv still on, both had fallen sleep and left the tv on.
"wait, why is the tv still on?"
Splinter continue to wonder why was the TV on while both Mikey and Donnie continue to remain asleep and didn't respond to Splinter calls.
Since both Donnie and Mikey pass out watching TV the whole night, they were carried to their beds by their father, Splinter. he knew he should punish them for their misbehaviour, but seeing them like this got Splinter feeling soft-hearted towards his boys. instead of yelling or giving them a punishment right away, he decided to let them sleep the day away and have the talk with them in the afternoon.
After a couple of hours Mikey was the first one to wake up, he was so tired tired but the moment he felt he was on his bed he thought this was all a dream.
"Donnie wake up it was all just a dream!"
"hm?"
Donnie suddenly wakes up to Mikey yelling him telling him that it was all just a dream.
"what?"
Donnie said and looks around tired seeing that he was still on his bed as well, was it a dream, he just didn't remember what exactly happened last night. Donnie yawns a little bit as he begins to slowly wake up.
Mikey thought it was all a dream and smiled, Donnie was still too tired to react but all of that relief immediately became anxiety went Splinter spoke
"what was just a dream Michelangelo?"
Mikey: ...
Mikey immediately went silent when he heard Splinter asking him what was just a dream. Mikey just couldn't remember what he and Donnie had done last night, the TV was still on and Splinter just catch them.
Mikey: Donnie go back to sleep, go back to sleep! It's real, it's really real!
Donnie: what are you talking about?!.....
Donnie then rolls his eyes at his immature younger brother and was confused that is went he turn around and saw his father only for him to stay quiet and do the same exact thing Mikey did.
Mikey and Donnie both stay as still as they possibly can hoping Splinter won't notice them. Mikey and Donnie knew now that this wasn't going to work seeing how Splinter had caught on the both of them but it was worth the try.
Splinter continue staring at his two sons who were trying to fake sleep and it is clear as day that they were not actually sleeping.
"..Michelangelo...Donatello..."
Donnie remain silent and told Mikey to stay silent with his finger, until Mikey spoke.
"..we are sleeping sensei...."
Donnie facepalm himself after hearing that, Mikey was just this dumb he blow their cover
"Mikey, you idiot..."
Donnie gets ticked off at his younger brother for screwing up their attempt at faking sleep, Donnie was now silently fuming in anger as he knows their already busted.
"Get up both of you."
Mikey sighs as he realizes that the both of them are already busted and it just makes him feel even more nervous than he was before.
Splinter keeps his stern facial expression and stares at the two boys, who are clearly feeling guilty over what they did. He could tell that their little stunt had kept them up all night and he knew they would eventually fall asleep after watching tv for so long, but Splinter didn't care about that, he was more focused on the fact that they had disobeyed his bedtime rule.
Splinter then speaks up in a firm tone of voice as he looks between Donnie and Mikey.
"The two of you had been up all night watching tv and that is not a good thing. You know better than to stay up that late and even after I put you on a bedtime rule, you decide to disobey me yet again."
Donnie: "...We were just watching some cartoon we really like sensei..."
Mikey: "yeah...that's all we were doing...just watching our favorite show..."
both brothers are now talking, but their attempts at trying to convince their father that they were watching a show they really like were in vain. Splinter could tell just by how tired the both of them were and that they were up all night watching a show they really liked, but that wouldn't be the last of their punishments.
"you were watching television all night weren't you? If you really think that you can just get away with doing this, you are sadly mistaken."
Splinter says as he stares at the boys, Mikey and Donnie are just scared at what punishment will be next and look up at Splinter. Mikey's heart was racing as he knew that whatever punishment wasn't going to be pleasant, it was already their 3rd time that they had broken bedtime rule, meaning that Splinter was probably gonna get even more strict and harsher with the two of them.
Splinter stays silent as he stares at the two boys who look like they are about to cry now. he is unsure of what to do next, do he lets a few seconds of silence pass before he finally speaks up.
"I thought i could trust you two to behave and follow a simple bedtime rule, but from what I see it's clear that you both are not mature enough to handle such a simple task."
Splinter keeps speaking up in a more stern and disappointed tone of voice as he stares the two of them right in the eyes.
"I told the two of you that it is very important that you both to get a proper amount of sleep each day specially at your age, but it seems that all you two wanted to do last night was stay up and break the bedtime rule and for what? Just to watch some silly cartoon?"
Both boys are fighting back their tears as Splinter continues to stare at the both of them with that disappointing and stern look in his eyes.
"I am disappointed in the both of you. as your teacher and father, I thought I could trust you two to behave and follow the simple bedtime rules that I have set. but yet again, you two prove that maybe I should not be trusting you two to do such a simple thing as go to bed when you should."
Donnie: "we are sorry Dad..."
Mikey: "yeah...we are sorry... It won't happen again we promise..."
Splinter is holding himself back as he doesn't want to give them this punishment, but he must in order to make the boys understand the importance of their wellbeing and that if they don't keep their bedtime, it can lead to them getting sick and possibly falling behind on their training, which is something Splinter would never wish on the two.
"For the next month, you two will be getting sent to bed one hour earlier than your usual bedtime and you will be required to go to sleep the moment you get up to your room. You two will not be allowed to do any activities after bedtime until the morning and then once morning comes you are allowed to start your day. I will also be doubling your ninja training, this way the two of you have less time to goof off and stay up late at night, you both will have more practice and learn more about the ways of the ninja instead of those silly cartoons."
when Splinter said this the boys both looked at him with looks of horror as they knew that this would mean extra hard work and more training for the two of them.
"Dad please don't make us do this... We promise we won't do it again, we'll obey the bedtime rules from now on, please we'll do anything else, just not this..."
Mikey spoke feeling like there was barely enough time to watch TV and with more training would mean even less. Splinter looks at the two of them and as much as he doesn't want to give the two double training, he can't simply let the two of them get off easy after what they had done. he has to set an example and teach them both the values of doing the right thing and listening to his bedtime rule.
"I am sorry Michelangelo, but the two of you will continue doing your ninja training."
Splinter feels that Mikey will have a much harder time dealing with this extra training rather than Donnie as Mikey is more prone to being lazy and goofing off rather than actually training like he should, but Donnie will have his own difficulties due to his less muscular frame and less strength than his brothers. overall they both will have their own difficulties with this whole training.
Mikey sighs amd gives up trying to beg his father not to give him and Donnie extra training since he knows that his father made up his decision and there was no turning back, Mikey was just hopeful that his punishment would stop at just the extra training and his bedtime rule wouldn't get even more stricter than it already was.
"Well at least...our punishment could've been worse... I guess..."
Mikey said as he was trying to look at the bright side but the punishment didn't ended there, Splinter decided to add something to their punishment he was thinking all morning and only because both were living an unhealthy diet.
"and something I am going to add to your punishments is that both of you will be eating healthier and more well-balanced meals. Michelangelo, you will need to stop eating all those pizzas and Donatello you needs to eat an extra two meals a day so you can put more weight on your thin frame. the two of you will also be required to drink plenty of water alongside your improved meals."
This only made both of you worried, Mikey definitely can't go a day without 10 slides of pizza, and Donnie, he clearly hates to eat in general.
Mikey: ...
Donnie: ...
It was clear as day now that Mikey and Donnie's punishment was only getting worse and worse. First it was the bedtime rule being doubled, then the double ninja training, and now the both of them were to also make healthier decisions, Mikey wasn't worried about that he could always bend that rule, but Donnie most certainly was. Donnie struggles to eat and eating an extra 2 meal a day would be a chore for Donnie to take and he was extremely reluctant on doing.
"but ...that's not fair sensei"
Donnie spoke, Splinter understands his second youngest son seems to have more problems with eating than his youngest son does and he is willing to make some more compromises with Donnie regarding his eating disorder, however Mikey will have to still eat a healthier diet with less pizzas and sweets than he usually eats.
"It is fair my son, you need to eat a more so you won't be so thin. As for Michelangelo, you must also eat but healthier options as your diet is not the best either".
Splinter keeps his stern expression on as he speaks to the two little ninjas.
"it may not be fair my sons, but you both need to do this, I am doing it for your own good."
Splinter spoke but took a look at Donnie who seemed to be the one not taking this new punishment very well.
"Donatello, I know you have had issues with your appetite and not wanting to eat but i am sorry that you have to deal with this difficulty in life, this will be for your own health. I know you don't like to eat my son, but you must if you want to remain in good health. even if it is difficult for you, I only ask that you try and eat more for me, will you?"
"...I know I need to eat more...but...it's just ...too hard..."
Donnie was now beginning to tear a little bit before speaking again.
"and...i...I know I need to put my weight up, and I know that I need to eat more...b..but I just find it ...impossible to just....s..simply eat an extra 2 meals a day ..for 1... whole month..."
Donnie said as he was now beginning to have tears roll down his cheeks as he knew that his father was being serious about this punishment.
"I know, and I am aware that it is difficult for you to eat more and I know that is hard my son, but this will be for your own good, I'm not making you do all of this simply just because. I want to make sure that you are in good health and if that means I must to force you to eat more than so be it."
Splinter says this to Donnie, he wiped his son's tears and gave him a gentle hug, he can just feel the pain that the young boy is going through.
Donnie felt emotional, and accepts the hug from his father, Donnie felt that it wasn't fair that he has to not only deal with sleeping more earlier but deal with eating an extra 2 meals a day. Donnie was feeling so down in the dumps about the whole situation and wanted nothing more than to cry in his father's arms. Donnie was always sensitive to punishments of any sort.
