As Long As I’m Alive, Everything Is Fine!

Summary:

Fourteen-year-old Ranpo Edogawa opens the door of Fukuzawa’s house to find a ginormous man outside. The man invites him to Hogwarts and he uses his deduction skills from there. Learning and weaving his way out and in to trouble, chowing on sweets and chips all at the same time.

This work is inspired by Allegory_for_hatred’s ‘Magic & Mystery’ and ‘Coil’ books, which are inserting Dazai into the Harry Potter universe. This book will be similar, but as Ranpo instead Dazai. I hope you all enjoy reading this.

Notes:

This work does not include Harry Potter nor other Bungo Stray Dogs characters aside from Fukuzawa and Yosano.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Lollipop

Chapter Text

Having a random man come to Mr. Bodyguard Fukuzawa-san’s house was awkward, I shouldn’t have answered the door. He said his name was Hagrid and he came at Dumbledore’s command.
“Uh, ya, I’m not going.” I’d respond, sinking into the living room seat,

“Huh? Wha’ ya mean?”

“I don’t wanna go.”

“Don’ ya wanna see magic, kid?”

“Not really, seems boring.”

“Wha’ if… ya learn magic?”

I’d sit up at that, “Listening.”

“Hogwarts all ‘bout teachin’ kids how t’ use magic, you could learn too. Wha’ ya say?”

“I’d have to ask, Mr. Bodyguard Fukuzawa-San.”

“Mr. Body- wha’s-ah?”

“Nothing. He’ll probably say yes.”

“Alright. Jus’, uh, send a letter to tha’ address on th’ envelope, ya, kid?” I’d just nod as he’d try to get out of the door, creaking and breaking sounds were heard all through out the house, good thing Mr. Bodyguard Fukuzawa-San wasn’t here right now. I’ll tell him later.

…ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ

“Hogwarts, hm? And magic? I’m afraid I’m not keeping track.” Mr. Bodyguard Fukuzawa-San would say rubbing his temples,

“I know! But he seems trustworthy, and we could study magic! Well, I could study magic.” I’d chew on a few Calbee that he got at the store, “I will admit, it is pretty weird to get a kid all the way from Japan to a school in Britain—“

“It’s in Britain!?”

“Yep! But it’s probably because it’s the most prestigious magic school, and they must have heard about my super duper smartness, hehe!” Mr. Bodyguard Fukuzawa-San would rub his forehead,

“Well, am I coming with you?”

“Sure! You can live in Britain well I’m at school, or stay here, and have me come back to Japan when the breaks come around!”

He’d nod at that, “That seems better, would you write? Tell me if anything bad happens? I already know I can’t stop you from getting involved, but please, make sure to inform me.”

I’d shove some chips in his mouth, “Calm down, I will, I will!” He’d chew on them, as not to choke.

He’d swallow, “I do want to ask, what happened to my door.” He’d turn his head to the door with broken pieces scattered around and splinters sticking out,

“Oh, the Hagrid guy was HUGE!” Lifting an eyebrow at that, he decided not to press any further, “Soooooo, is it a yes to go to Hogwarts?”

“Yes.” I’d whoop in joy at his response,

…ᘛ⁐̤ᕐᐷ

“I’m so glad ya accepted!” Hagrid would rub my head very violently, in a kind sort of way.

“Yep! I’m excited to learn magic, heh.”

“Tha’s good!”

“Soooo, where we going first?”

“Jus’ through here.” He’d gesture at the wall, it was just a normal wall. If you were dumb enough to believe that, I’d feel myself smirk at it, gesturing for him to tap his wand. He’d do it, smiling at how fast I figured it out. The wall would open at a few taps, showing off an alley. Diagon Alley.

“Welcome t’ Diagon Alley!” He’d wave his hand out at the newly shown alley,

“Looks cool, what we doing first?”

“Ollivander’s Wand Shop.”

“Ah, a wand shop! So cool.” We’d walk into the wand shop, being greeted by an older-looking man.

“Hello, Hagrid, who’s your friend?” The man named ‘Ollivander’ would gesture to me,

“Ah, this is Ranpo Edogawa, a transfer student.”

“I see, I see! Alright, let’s find you a wand.” He’d wander off to the back, looking around for a while, “Here we are, cherry wood, unicorn hair, eleven inches long, slightly flexible. Here you are, Mr. Ranpo.”

He’d place the wand in my hand outstretched hand, I’d stare at it for a second, “This one won’t work, trust me.” I’d hand him back the wand,

“Ah, uhm. Alright.” He’d look at Hagrid for a second before retreating to the back, muffled noises were heard before he came about out, “What about this? Ash wood, Phoenix feather, thirteen and three fourth inches, supple.”
He’d hand me the wand, this time, I gave it a swoosh. The wand produced a dim light, “Ah, seems right. Interesting, interesting.” Ollivander would say, rubbing his chin.

“Is something wrong?” I’d ask, “If not, we should get going.” I’d look over to Hagrid, “Is it possible to exchange ‘Muggle’ currency for Wizard currency?” Hagrid would think for a second before shrugging, “We’ll check it out, then!”
