Chapter Text

Barry started coming to after he was struck by lightning. There were two people who were staring at him.

"Dr. Wells please come to the cortex," Cisco said.

"Vitals are steady, pupils are reactive to light." Caitlin said.

"Hold on what's going on."

"I need you to urinate in this," Caitlin said.

"Not right now," Cisco said. "I'm Cisco Ramon and this is Caitlin- Dr. Snow and you were in a coma."

"For how long," Barry asked wondering how long he has been away from CCPD and from Joe and Iris.

"For nine months," Wells said from a wheel chair, "Welcome back Mr. Allen, we have a lot to discuss."

As Barry and Dr. Wells walked through the hall Barry looked to Dr. Wells.

"I've always wanted to meet you," Barry said to Dr. Wells.

"Well you certainly went to great lengths to do it." Wells said as they arrived at the particle accelerator ring where Barry saw the damage.

"What happened?" Barry asked.

Meanwhile in the cortex Caitlin just sighed after Barry left.

I think I'm falling in love with him. She thought. But I don't know if Iris and him are together.

Cisco looked at her, "Caitlin are you okay."

"Yes why do you ask."

"You're doing that thing where you are biting your lower lip." Cisco said, "Have you fallen in love with Barry."

Caitlin turned red and quickly denied it, "W-what n-no."

"Uh-huh," Cisco said not believing what she said.

After Barry left STAR Labs he went straight to Jitters to see Iris. When she saw him he smiled and opened the door. They walked up to each other and hugged.

"You're awake," Iris said, "Why didn't STAR Labs call us."

"I just woke up."

"I saw you die, your heart kept on stopping."

Barry grabbed her hand and put it on his chest, "It's still beating."

"It's very fast, besides that, Caitlin didn't do anything too crazy when you woke up did she." Iris asked which made Barry looke at her. "She may have told me that she kind of developed a crush on you while you were in a coma."

When all of a sudden the world looked like it was stopping right before him. Until it went right to normal and glass shattered. Iris looked back worried about her co-worker.

"Are you okay Tracy?"

"Yeah thanks Iris," Tracy responded.

"Let's go, Dad is so going to be thrilled that you are finally awake." Iris said as she grabbed her things and they left Jitters to head to CCPD.

Meanwhile in STAR Labs Caitlin was in the med bay when Cisco knocked on the door.

"What is it Cisco?" Caitlin asked perturbed that he was bothering her.

"I know you have a crush on him."

"So what if I do," Caitlin yelled. "It's not like I have any chance with him."

"Is this about Iris?"

Caitlin nodded her head, "Yes, I mean how can I compete with a childhood best friend like her."

"Well, let's just say that I have some intel that Iris isn't dating Barry but a detective at CCPD."

"What are you saying?" Caitlin asked.

"I'm trying to say that he is available," Cisco said. "Although I think you should wait a bit before you ask him."

"Ask who?"

"Dr. Wells, I...." Caitlin said but was cut off by Dr. Wells holding his hand up.

"I know you fell in love with Barry," Wells said which made Caitlin's mouth drop in surprise. "Speaking of Barry he thinks he has superspeed, so we are going to Ferris Airfield to do some tests."

At CCPD Barry was about to leave to head to Ferris Air when she saw Iris kiss Eddie. He shook his head and quickly ran out although not with his superspeed because he can't really control it yet.

As soon as he arrived Cisco handed him some clothes to change into.

"You seriously don't think he can run that fast do you." Caitlin asked thinking it was completely scientifically impossible.

"Well, I believe anything is possible." Dr. Wells said. "And pretty soon you will too."

At that moment Barry walked out and Caitlin just stared.

"How does it feel?"

"It's very snug." Barry replied as he stared at Caitlin a bit when Cisco tapped him.

"Go easy on Caitlin," Cisco said. "She lost her fiancé in the particle accelerator explosion."

"What are you talking about Cisco?" Caitlin asked.

"Oh nothing I was just telling him that Wells is going to measure his energy output and you were going to measure his vitals." Cisco covered quickly and walked off.

"What was your major?" Barry asked trying to get to know her a little bit.

"Bioengineering," Caitlin responded as she continued to input the data into the tablet, "Now may I ask you a question."

"Sure." Barry said, "You can ask me anything."

Before Caitlin continued she looked back to Dr. Wells and she saw him nod.

"Are you available tonight?"

"Yes, I am why?"

"I was wondering if you'd like to grab something to eat later on." Caitlin asked nervously.

"Sure, I'd love to." Barry said smiling and he felt something that he hasn't felt for anyone even Iris. It may be the feeling of true love.

Barry walked to the start of the runway and got ready to run. Once he took off Cisco was knocked off of his feet. Caitlin's mouth dropped in shock at how fast he was running. She looked at the tablet and saw that his vitals were perfectly normal for his new cellular body.

"He just passed 200 mph." Cisco said, "How's his vitals Caitlin."

"They are stable," Caitlin said when the heard a huge crash.

When they got back to STAR Labs Caitlin walked into the med bay to see Barry.

"You seem to be okay," Caitlin said, You had a fracture in your hand."

"Wait, had."

"It's completely healed in three hours." Caitlin said, "I'm glad for that because I didn't really want to cancel tonight."

"Why?" Barry asked caringly.

"Because this would be my first time going to dinner with a guy since my fiancé Ronnie died." Caitlin responded, "I mean if you want it to be like a date then we ca...."

Barry cut her off with a kiss which surprised her. Barry quickly backed away a bit.

"I'm sorry if that wasn't what you wa...." Barry said but was cut off to Caitlin kissing him back.

"It's okay Barry, I've kind of had a crush on you since I was taking care of you in the coma for 9 months," Caitlin said. "I told Iris the way I felt about you but she didn't say anything back about if she felt the same way about you."

"Now, Barry you take care of her now." Cisco said at the door.

"How long have you been watching?" Caitlin asked.

"Long eneough to see you two kiss each other." Cisco said which made both Barry and Caitlin turn red.

"I'm not judging you two but I didn't expect you guys to do that this soon."

"I'm guessing it was love at first sight to you, isn't that right Allen," Dr. Wells said as Barry's phone went off.

"It's Joe he said that he needs to see me at CCPD." Barry said, "I'll see you tonight Dr. Snow."

With that Barry left in a rush which caused Caitlin to fix her hair.

"Caitlin, let me be the first to say I'm happy that you were able to finally move on," Wells said. "But let me ask you this, would go back with Ronnie if he was still alive."

"I'm not really sure." Caitlin said looking down, "But I think I will probably stay with Barry because I think that I love him alot more than I did Ronnie."

"Okay."

Chapter Text

Hello everybody this is where the story won't be exactly like the show. Although there will be some similarities like the meta-humans they fight. But it won't exactly be word for word like chapter 1. I hope all of you are enjoying it.

Barry stopped by Jitters to grab a coffee for him and Joe before he heads to CCPD when he saw Iris and Eddie kissing each other. When Iris looked up she saw him and tried to separate.

The two of them were walking down the street.

"Dad doesn't know about this," Iris said.

"Are you really happy with him?"

"Yes I am, are you going to be okay wth that."

Barry nodded, "Speaking of relationships, Caitlin asked me to dinner tonight."

"Really," Iris said surprised, "And what did you say."

"I told her yes."

"That's great Barry, you deserve to be happy," Iris said. "Besides she saved your life."

When all of a sudden Barry saw a police car coming in slow motion. Instinctively he tackled Iris to the ground. He saw who they were chasing. It was Clyde Mardon in the same mustang that was the getaway vehicle for the murder 9 months ago. He ran and got next to him. But Mardon was about to pull a gun on him. So Barry grabbed the wheel and flipped the car over. But when Barry crawled out of the car he saw him.

"Mardon!"

He quickly turned around with a grim look on his face. He held out his hands and fog started to form.

A Few Minutes Later

"That fog came out of nowhere," Iris said. "I've never seen anything like it."

At that moment Joe ran to them, "Iris are you okay."

"Yeah Daddy, I'm fine but Barry has something that he needs to tell you," Iris said as she nudged him.

"Can I talk to you over there?"

As they walk over there Joe nodded to him.

Barry took a deep breath, "I have a date tonight."

"With Iris?"

Barry shook his head, "No with Caitlin Snow from STAR Labs."

"Okay but you just met her and you're already dating her."

"It's not a date per se," Barry said sheepishly, "Oh but before I get side tracked I know who did this."

"Who?"

"You may not believe me but it was Clyde Mardon."

Joe rolled his eyes preparing to hear one of Barry's weird stories.

"I confronted him and as soon as I did the road was completely enveloped in fog." Barry said, "I think that he can control the weather.

"Do you want to hear this now, here, fine." Joe said as he rambled about how his father killed his mother. But Barry let his mind wander to Caitlin wondering what she was doing right now.

"Are you even listening?" Joe asked. "Or is your mind wandering to your date tonight."

"Of course not." Barry denied even though that was exactly what he was doing. "I'm sorry it's just I'm worried about my first date for awhile."

Joe couldn't help but not stay mad anymore.

"Well, I think you should go talk to her then," Joe said. "And know that I'm happy for you."

"Thanks Joe I will."

Meanwhile In STAR Labs

Caitlin was in the med bay working on something that might help Barry control his speed when there was a knock on the door. She turned to see who it was and once she saw that it was Dr. Wells she covered the paper that had some ideas on what she can do to help him.

"What're you working on?" Dr. Wells asked.

"It's just something that will probably help Barry control his speed." Caitlin replied, "Besides we're going to dinner tonight and I was hoping that I'd get to know him more."

When all of a sudden Barry walked into the cortex, "I wasn't the only one affected by the particle accelerator explosion was I."

"We don't know," Dr. Wells said. "We've been trying to find other meta-humans such as yourself."

Barry looked at them, "Meta-humans?"

"That's what we decided to call them," Caitlin said. "What powers did this one have?"

"He had the ability to control the weather and I wasn't fast enough to save someone when their car exploded," Barry looked down ashamed. "I need to stop Mardon but I need your guys' help."

"I have something that might help," Cisco said which made Dr. Wells look at him with a nod. Cisco walked over to a door and Barry saw what looked like a suit. It was a single piece plain red suit.

"This was meant to replace the original outfits that firefighters were supposed to wear." Cisco stated, "We thought that if we did something nice for the community people wouldn't stay mad at Dr. Wells anymore."

"Okay how do we find Mardon." Barry asked as he put the suit on.

"I've monitored atmospheric pressure and it dropped near a farm." Caitlin said, "I want you to be careful and remember our date tonight."

"I haven't forgotten," Barry said as he ran to the farm. As soon as he was gone Dr. Wells looked to Caitlin and realized how Barry's relationship with her will affect the timeline. Although the future is intact with only one change he doesn't know if that will change in the months to come.

As soon as Barry arrived at the farm there was a tornado. In the distance he saw Joe hiding taking cover from the heavy winds of the tornado.

"Barry can you hear me?" Cisco said over Comms.

"Yeah, I can read you loud and clear," Barry said as he looked at the tornado. "I have an idea to stop the tornado."

"How?" Dr. Wells said.

"I'll unravel it."

"How are you going to do that?" Caitlin asked.

"I'll run around it in the opposite direction cut off it's legs."

"How fast does he have to go in order to do that?"

"Roughly 700mph." Dr. Wells responded which made Caitlin's eyes grow wide.

"Barry, your body may not be able to handle that kind of speed," Caitlin cried worriedly. "But I know you have to do this because I feel that you want to be a hero and I know that so be careful and don't over do it."

"Okay I will," Barry said as he started to run around the tornado which made Joe stand up really quick in surprise. Mardon saw a light circling around him he tried to hit him with lightning but failed because he was moving so fast.

A Few Minutes Later

Joe and Barry were standing outside the farm house late at night leaning on the car.

"What you can do it was the lightning?" Joe asked.

"More or less," Barry responded. "I need to go so I can get to my date."

"Sure but can you promise me that you won't tell Iris about what you can do." Joe said, "I want her to stay safe besides I have one question where'd you get the suit."

"I'm going to be working together with STAR Labs." Barry said, "Caitlin works there as a doctor so she'll make sure I don't do anything stupid."

"You bet I will," Caitlin said as she walked up to him at the farm. "You must be Joe, it's nice to meet you."

"You're the one that Iris mentioned that was always standing next to Barry when he was in a coma," Joe said.

"Yes that was me," Caitlin responded. "Barry are you ready to go on our date."

"I'll need something to change into because I'm sure that I shouldn't go out in this if it's my superhero disguise."

Caitlin smiled at that as she pulled something out of the car. It was a shirt and pants and when Barry saw them he quickly changed into them.

"Did you get these for me?"

"Yes although I kind of had to ask Iris your size so..." Caitlin said slightly embarrassed.

"Alright you two better get going before the places close up," Joe said.

"Are you trying to get rid of me?" Barry asked trying to sound like he was hurt when Caitlin just pulled him by the sleeve to drag him to the car. Joe couldn't help but laugh at that.

I guess I don't have anything to worry about. Joe thought as he got into his car and drove to head back home for the night.

Chapter Text

Barry was sitting in the passenger seat of Caitlin's car as they rode through the city. He was thinking about what the future would be like since he has super speed.

"What are you thinking about?" Caitlin asked as she looked at him before turning her face back on the road.

"Nothing it's just I don't know what my life will be like since I'm a Meta-Human now." Barry said a little hesitantly, "I just feel now that I have this speed I can help all kinds of people and not just get justice for the families of victims of homicide."

"You're very kind about that," Caitlin said as they arrived at Big Belly Burger to grab a late dinner.

"Do you remember me telling you how my mother got murdered?" Barry asked as he held the door for her.

"Yeah."

"I couldn't do anything to save her but now that I have this ability I can actually save others." Barry said as he stood at the menu looking to see what he wanted to eat. Caitlin was looking at his face. Looking into his dark-eyes and the way his hair looked on his head. She couldn't help but admire the way he looked when it was their turn to order Barry pulled out some cash out of his wallet. "Don't worry I'll pay for dinner for what kind of man would I be if I let you pay for dinner."

"I wasn't really planning on you paying that's why I have my own money."

"I'm sure you'd pay me back somehow," Barry said with a little grin until he realized the implications, "I-I'm sorry I didn't mean anything b-by that."

"It's fine besides I am a doctor so I will be able to take care of you."

"Excuse me, but are you two newlyweds." A voice said behind them.

"Uh no, we've just started dating." Caitlin said when she turned and saw that it was an old friend from med school, "Janice is that you."

"Wait, you know who I am?"

"It's me Caitlin Snow, we went to med school together."

"Oh, I barely recognized you," Janice said in sudden recognition. "Why don't you introduce me to your boyfriend."

"This is Barry Allen." Caitlin said, "This is our first date together."

"So Barry what do you do for a living."

"I work for the CCPD as a CSI."

"Oh, another science nerd." Janice teased, "You need someone to be able to keep up with your science talks."

"Yeah I kind of loved science a little too much," Caitlin said. "So how have you been?"

"I've been good I've been working at Mercury Labs, hey maybe since you don't really work at STAR Labs now why don't you come work for Dr. McGee."

Barry looked at Caitlin, "It's up to you if you want to take the opportunity."

"I'm sorry but I still work at STAR Labs helping to get the place up and running again."

"Oh that's to bad, I really wanted to work with you again," Janice said sadly when she looked at her watch. "Oh, I'm sorry I have to get home because I have to go to a meeting with Dr. McGee."

"Alright, it's good seeing you again," Caitlin said. "I haven't seen anyone from med school in a while since graduation."

"Yeah, I never really had any friends when I went to school to be a CSI but I'm sure some of them would recognize me."

Whenever they sat down with their food Caitlin looked at Barry. "Hey Barry, can I ask you something that you don't have to answer."

"Sure then can I ask something as well."

"Of course but I'll ask you first," Caitlin said as she took a deep breath. "What was it like growing up, you know with your father in prison?"

Barry tried to not spit out his drink in his cup. That was a question that he did not expect. "It was tough I mean I got bullied a lot but I handled it as best as I could well with the help of Iris and Joe."

"Oh I can't imagine what it was like."

"Now my question is what was Ronnie like?"

"Well before you came into my life I was really guarded but he knew how to make me laugh."

"I'm sure you were devastated whenever he died but are you sure that you are over him."

Caitlin nodded her head, "Yes, I'm sure if I knew him then he would want me to move on so I'm trying this with you."

"So are you saying that you're not really sure if we'd work out," Barry said with a little hurt in his voice.

"Oh, I didn't mean it like that I mean I feel it will work out." Caitlin asked slightly embarrassed, "I'm sorry if you took it wrongly it wasn't my intention."

"I know you didn't really mean anything by that but I'm glad that you are giving me that chance." Barry said, "I've never really had a serious girlfriend ever since high school."

"Really?"

"Yeah I mean it was kind of hard since everyone knew that my father was in prison," Barry started. "Also I'm going to tell you the truth, at one point I did have a crush on Iris but there's something that I feel for you that I've never felt for her."

"And what is that?" Caitlin asked teasing.

"I think that I know what it means to truly love someone." Barry said which made Caitlin smile, "Are we going somewhere else or are we going to end things here."

"I think this is a good point to end things that way we can takes things slow so we can find out what our schedules are like." Caitlin said, "And besides don't you have to go to CCPD in the morning."

Barry hit himself in the head, "Oh yeah you're right I probably have a lot of catching up to do since I haven't been there in nine months."

"I'll try to see if I can stop by although I might have trouble getting past the front desk." Caotlin said as she drove to Joe's house since that's where Barry is living until his room could get fixed up.

"Well, I'm sure if you run into Joe then he'd probably help you." Barry said as they pulled onto the street that Joe lives on.

"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Caitlin said when Barry leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Caitlin melted into the kiss when they pulled apart Caitlin scowled. "Now you're making it to where I don't want to let you go."

"Well, I do have to get some sleep especially since I have to go back to work in the morning." Barry countered, "Don't worry if I don't see you when I'm at work I'll stop by STAR Labs tomorrow."

"Oh alright I guess that will have to do." Caitlin said, "Now get out of my car."

Barry got out with a smile as soon as he shut the door Caitlin drove off. Barry stood there for a second with a grin before he decided to walk into the house to get ready for tomorrow.

Chapter Text

The Next Morning

Barry woke up early in the morning that way he can make his way to CCPD early that we he can get started on the work he missed in the 9 months that he was in a coma. His mind automatically went to Caitlin.

I wonder what she is doing right now.

As soon as he was done getting ready he ran to Jitters to order a coffee to take into the work. Once he arrived at CCPD, Captain Singh walked up to him.

"Allen welcome back," Captain Singh said. "There has been some backlog of cases that you need to got through."

"I'll get to it as fast as I can." Barry responded, "Oh, by the way my girlfriend is coming to visit me later today but she thinks she will have trouble getting past the front desk."

"Oh, who is your girlfriend Allen,"

"She was the one who take care of me when I was in a coma for nine months," Barry responded. "Do you think that will be a problem her coming to visit me when I am at work?"

"As long as you keep it professional while you are on the clock I don't mind it." Singh said, "Oh, by the way congrats on finding yourself a girlfriend."

"Thanks, I better head to my lab so I can see how much work I need to do," Barry said. "Can you let the officer at the front desk know that if a Brunette asks to see me then send her up to my lab."

"Of course now get to work."

"Yes sir."

Barry walked up the stairs to the lab and saw piles and piles of paperwork, "A little backlog."

"Well, it looks like you have a lot to catch up with," A voice said when Barry turned he saw Caitlin.

"Hey Caitlin, you're here earlier than I thought," Barry said. "I thought you wouldn't be here until later."

"Well, Dr. Wells wanted me to tell you that he would like to talk to you about something that involves your... job at STAR Labs."

"What do you mean about that?"

Caitlin blushed, "Well I may have mentioned that I would like to work with you more and he told me to send you an offer to work at STAR labs instead of working here at CCPD."

"Does Captain Singh know about this."

"I told him about it and he told me to tell you that you are welcome to start a new branch in CCPD where you work out of STAR Labs instead of here."

"I don't know Caitlin, I mean I would love to see you at work everyday but I think I am more help to people here helping get murder victims peace by finding their killers unlike what happened with me and my mother's murder."

"Do you really think that your father was wrongfully convicted?" Caitlin asked.

"Yes, I mean my abilities show that it could be someone and I know Dr. Wells said that my abilities are unique and that there is nothing like it but how can that be true when we don't even know the full scope of my abilities."

Caitlin remembered Dr. Wells' hesitation when he said that Barry's abilities were unique, "Do you think that he may know more about your abilities than he is letting on."

"I don't know," Barry responded. "I mean you knew him for a lot longer than I have."

"Yeah but the thing about that is he doesn't share his private life at all," Caitlin responded. "I mean he spent his whole life dedicating himself to making the world a better place."

"Yeah until his dreams went down the drain."

At that moment Captain Singh walked into the room, "You must be Barry's new girlfriend."

"Yes, I'm Dr. Caitlin Snow."

"Allen did she tell you that I wamt you starting a branch in STAR Labs."

Barry nods, "Yeah, but I told her that I feel more useful here getting justice for murder victims."

"Oh, Allen, you'd still be doing that but inside of STAR Labs."

"Really."

Captain Singh nods his head, "Yes and besides they may have more updated equipment."

"We do," Caitlin said. "Everything is set up to where you can continue your work there and besides we need your help with somethings that only a forensics expert like yourself can handle."

Barry looks at Captain Singh, "Are you sure this is okay."

"Of course Allen, you need to learn to accept things that come your way." Singh said as he whispered in Barry's ear, "I know you are this new 'Streak'"

"Wait what?"

"I'm a detective and it doesn't take much to put two and two together to know that right after you got out of your coma that people start seeing something save them from fires and its someone with super speed."

Barry looks at Caitlin.

"I didn't tell him." Caitlin said as she threw her hands up at him, "So are you going to work out of STAR Labs."

"Do I have a choice?"

"Of course you have a choice." Caitlin said, "I wouldn't want to force you into something that you aren't comfortable with."

Barry looks to Captain Singh, "Okay I guess I will work out of STAR Labs for the time being and if I don't like it then I will come back here."

"Alright then, Allen," Captain Singh said. "Good luck okay, you will come here once a week to pick up your cases or turn in any cases that you finish here is that understood."

"Yes sir."

Barry and Caitlin walked out of CCPD and got in her car to head to STAR Labs. As soon as they got there Dr. Wells was nowhere to be seen but CIsco was in the cortex looking through blueprints on whatever he is planning on building. Once he turned he saw Barry with a suitcase full of his things from his office in CCPD.

"So you decided to take Dr. Wells' offer of working out of STAR Labs."

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to working with you more often."

Cisco grins, "Well, since we are all here there is something that I would like to discuss with you."

"What is it Cisco?" Caitlin asked, "If it is about me and Barry being together you might as well forget what you are about to say."

"It's not..." Cisco said, "I take that back well the reason why Dr. Wells isn't here he has reason to believe that Ronnie is still alive."
