Chapter Text
Chris loved barbecuing. So in return for the Christmas vacation he’d invited Alcina to their place for the great american holiday, 4th of July. Seeing as Chris himself and most of his partners were either current or ex-military, the 4th was something he’d always done. It felt like a natural return. Besides, Alcina’s daughters would thrive in the warmth of Raccoon city in the summer. Chris had even invited the rest of the extended family, and S.T.A.R.S team. It was gonna be a crowded get together, but hopefully it would be fun.
Alcina, her daughters, and Donna had been flown in a few days ago. Albert had to pull strings to get her flown in. there was no way she’d fit on a normal plane. It was actually nice to have their company again. Angie’s constant scuttling through the house was less than pleasing. She made more messes than Rose and her puppy. Yes, she had been allowed to keep the damned licker. She named it Fido even. The thing freaked Leon out a lot, and whenever Claire was over she’d avoid it much to no avail. It loved laying in her lap.
The day of the cook out came, Ethan had helped set it all up, Chris was on cooking duty much to Karl’s chagrin. Alcina lounged in the sun. inside Claire, Daniella, and Donna were bonding over some board game. Piers was bringing food out of the house, Rebecca Luis and Albert were chatting. Everything was going perfect. It was getting late, and yet Sherry and Jake hadn’t shown up yet. Has Jake finally snapped? Was he not going to come due to Albert? Right when Chris was about to throw the towel in, up walked the pair, Sherry held a perfect strawberry shortcake in hand and Jake lugged a thing of beer with him. They were both actually smiling. It was a relief. What was even more of a relief was Jake hugging Albert, it was quick. Blink and You’ll miss it. Chris honestly couldn’t believe it. He turned to see if anyone else caught it. Ethan was holding his phone giving Chris a wide grin. “I got it on camera.” He whispered. It was nice to see the two trying to form a relationship. He was glad. Finally, Chris could call everyone over to dinner.
The cookout was a success. And now fireworks (That Krauser swore were legal, but everyone knew differently) were being set off. The bright color’s sparkled across the sky. Chris sat on the Porch, his arm Lazily looped around Wesker who was smiling. For once he’d taken his sunglasses off. The normally thin slit-like pupils were blown wide, like a cat seeing a christmas tree for the first time. It was cute. Chris leaned over and pressed a kiss to his cheek. He blinked away from the sparkling lights and smiled at him. There under the fireworks with their loved ones surrounding them, they shared a soft sweet kiss.
