The Great Accomplishment

Summary:

Severus Snape’s greatest accomplishment

Notes:

I haven't posted anything in a year but does this really count as something new if it's just an edited version of a ficlet I posted three years ago and then deleted?

Enjoy 454 words of basically nothing. I'm working on a full Twilight fanfiction that I refuse to post until it's finished so I don't abandon it like everything else I've written lol. And if that takes me another 2 years of well

Work Text:

On Platform 9 ¾ stood a family of three with three of their close friends. They were saying goodbye their goodbyes to a young boy ready for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When they finished their farewells and sent a young Harry Potter onto the train, a delighted call of a child for their father made them all turn their heads, partially because it could be heard over all the hustle and bustle of the platform.

A girl with chin length, curly, dark brown almost black hair ran past them and into the arms of a man they all recognized to be Severus Snape. The little family was surprised to see the man on the platform let alone embrace an adolescent girl. This obviously wasn’t the Severus Snape they’d grown to hate in school, this was a completely different man.

They embraced and exchanged a conversation that didn’t reach their ears. The girl pointed passed them to a tall and slender woman that was walking by them pushing a cart piled with trunks and a boy no older than 6 sitting on top. Severus looked up and clearly saw the friends standing only yards away but showed no sign of acknowledging them, only focusing on the woman and child walking around them.

A woman, not one that any of the friends recognized. She had dark brown hair with sharp features and seemed to be a pureblood from the way she dressed and carried herself but then again a proper pureblood wife would never be caught dead pushing a luggage cart. She kept walking until she stopped in front of Severus and leaned forward and kissed him gently, whispering words they couldn’t hear over the train and loud chatter surrounding the station.

Sirius and the rest of his friends looked in shock at the scene before them, Severus Snape with a family. They'd never expected to see it. Not even Lily who grew up with him. His daughter was also obviously the same age as Harry because her robes were unmarked of any house so when had they gotten married? Hell when had they even gotten together? Snape was never in any relationships during school that they knew of. If they did they’d surely have made his life hell and tear it apart just like his friendship with Lily Potter nee Evans.

The conductor yelled the last call for passengers to board and they small group watched as the family of four said their goodbyes and the girl boarded the train, Severus following after her but not before he turned to them and smirked, proud that he could make something of himself that nobody expected of him.

That was his greatest accomplishment.
