A Dream Come True! Start, Our Perfect Story!

夢叶う! 完璧なストーリー 始まり!

Yumekanau! Kanpekina Suutorii, Hajimari!

A young girl with dark magenta eyes and matching hair in twin drill-buns is running to school. “Oh no, oh no, oh no!! I’m late….!! This is so not ultra-happy!!” This is Hoshizora Miyuki. What was she doing the night before?

[Begin flashback: The night before]

Miyuki is reading various fairytale books under the covers. “My favorite fairytale..! Cinderella! This is really good!” “Ah, Peter Pan! How I love this book!” “Little Red Riding Hood! It gets better and better everytime!”

[End flashback]

“Curse me and my love for fairytales!! I hate oversleeping! I just hate it…!”

Just then, a sparkle of light appears in the sky. Miyuki, now curious, looks up at it. “Hm? What’s that? Could that be… a shooting star?” She looks closer at it, then makes a wish.

“What do I wish for…? Oh! I wish I was a princess like in the fairytales! And also for me to not oversleep as much.”

The “shooting star” turns into a pink storybook…flying out of the sky! And it’s headed right towards her! Out jumps a small lamb-like fairy with long, curled yellow ears in bows, and a girl with dark blue hair and a light blue dress.

SMACK!!

The fairy hits Miyuki in the nose, while the girl lands on her knees. “Ow…That hurt….” Miyuki gets up, holding her nose.

“Hey.. You okay?” Miyuki offers the girl her hand. She takes it and stands up, brushing herself off. “Ah..thank you, kind girl. Who are you..?”

“Hoshizora Miyuki! Nice to meetcha!” Miyuki smiles. “Your turn!”

The girl seems to be getting nervous at Miyuki’s energetic nature. “..R-Reika. Nice to meet you.” She bows.

The fairy speaks next. “And I’m Candy~kuru!”

“Reika..and Candy.. Alright!” It’s easy for her to memorize their names. “What nice names!”

Miyuki picks Candy up. “Where are you from?”

“Marchënland~kuru. But it got attacked by pure evil~kuru.”

“That’s so sad….” Miyuki tilts her head. “Is there anything I can do?”

“Well, not really…” says Reika. “Oh wait! Yeah, there is. You, umm…Miyuki, is it?…are the chosen one!”

“The ‘chosen one’…?” Our heroine gets confused.

“..It’s pretty hard to explain~kuru.”

“Hey, Reika..?” Miyuki asks. “Would you like to go to school with me? It’ll be super fun, I just know it!”

“Go to…where with you?” This time, it’s Reika’s turn to get confused.

“School! Though, you’ll need a proper uniform first! But I’m sure the school will provide you with one.”

“Ah, I’m not sure..”

“Well, you think about it, okay? Tomorrow’s Friday!” Miyuki realizes she’s still running late for school. “Oh! I’m still late! Gotta go, see ya!”

She rushes off. Candy falls from her arms, but Reika picks her up. “That girl’s so energetic~kuru… You think we’ll see her again~kuru?”

“No idea, Candy.. That ‘school’ thing she mentioned seems intriguing…”

[Opening]

At Nanairogaoka Middle School, Class 2-2….

“So, now I’ll introduce the new transfer student,” says Ms. Sasaki, “…when she gets here.”

Miyuki walks in, literally five minutes late. “I can’t believe it! I’m late..I’m so sorry….!”

“It’s alright, Hoshizora-san. Could you introduce yourself?”

“Yes.” After writing her name on the chalkboard, Miyuki turns to the class…getting veeeery nervous, freaking out internally. “I can do this!…No, I can’t! I’ve got to do it, I’ve got to do it!”

After that moment of silence, she spots a hand waving at her in the background. “Heeeyy! Aren’t ya gonna introduce yourself?”

“Right! Err, I’m Hoshizora Miyuki. Umm…I…err…anyway, I’m p-pleased to meet you!” She bows, still nervous.

“Is that it?” The student that waved to her, Akane, stands up. “Where’s the punchline?”

“What the..” Miyuki realizes, “Akane attends here as well?”

“I’ll do the introduction for ya! Don’t worry!” Akane gives her a thumbs up. She heads over to the chalkboard to help Miyuki. “Despite your kinda airheaded demeanor, in reality, you’re very focused! Oh, and you’ve got a younger brother who loves stargazing! What was his name again? I think it was Mitaro or something.”

Hoshizora Mitaro (星空見たろ) means “let’s look at the stars!”

“Akane..” A girl with green hair tied in a ponytail speaks up. “That’s not helping Hoshizora, is it? Besides, shouldn’t she do it herself since it’s her introduction?”

“Right, right..” Akane turns to Miyuki. “Miyuki, I’d like ya to meet this girl. That’s Midorikawa Nao. Good at sports, but soft-hearted and has a real sense of duty. She’s kinda like a gangster girl, don’tcha think?”

“H-Hey! I’m no gangster..!”

“And just in case ya forgot, I’m Hino Akane. I moved here from Osaka last year, so I know just what it’s like to be the new student.

“Thanks, Hino-san,” says the teacher. “You can take your seat now.”

Akane walks back to her seat, giving people high-fives on the way. Miyuki hears someone whisper to her. “M-Miyuki, was it?”

The girl that whispered to her has blonde hair with a white headband. “Akane was just horsing around to help loosen you up a bit.”

“Oop, forgot one!” says Akane. “That girl? Kise Yayoi. She’s pretty friendly and kindhearted, but equally as sensitive, so almost anything makes her cry!”

Yayoi turns around. “H-Hey…! You’re calling me a crybaby? I’ve only cried three times at most today!”

The class laughs. Miyuki, now feeling less nervous, smiles. “Thanks, everyone! Because of your help, I’m no longer all that nervous! Let’s start over, ‘kay? I’m Hoshizora Miyuki, a girl who’s loved picture books since she was young. I think it’s great how many picture books have a happy ending, so every day, I try to look for happiness just like it!”

“Miyuki,” says Akane, “what does happiness mean to you?”

“It’s pretty hard to put into words. But it’s kinda like… when you get really excited, and there’s a warmth in your heart… It’s kind of like, everyone’s ‘ultra-happy’!”

Yayoi smiles. So does Akane, though also confused. “Eh… I don’t think I totally get it..?”

“So, on that note, it’s very nice to meet you, and I hope we can all get along!” Everyone claps.

“Hoshizora-san, your seat is…” Sasaki turns to an empty seat behind Akane.

“Behind me!” Akane waves. “And it’s pretty clean, too!”

“Alright then! Hoshizora-san will sit over there! Is that okay with you?”

Miyuki walks to her seat. “Akane, long time no see! I had no idea you were a student here. How’s life?”

“Pretty good. And boy, do I have some stories for you!”

Both girls turn around as the teacher speaks. “Alright, time to start homeroom.”

That moment, Miyuki hears something outside. She looks out the window, seeing Candy hopping from roof to roof. “PreCure! PreCure~kuru!”

“Akane,” Miyuki taps Akane’s shoulder and points out the window. “Did you see that?”

Akane looks. “I..don’t see nothing.”

“Girls?” The teacher speaks to them, and they turn around.

After school…

“Alright, Miyuki,” says Akane, “I’m gonna show ya the rest of the school! Come with me!” She leaves the hallway with her bag, Miyuki following.

The first place to visit is the music room. “First stop: music room!” The girls walk around. “We usually practice in here for school concerts.”

“What a big music room!” says Miyuki, her eyes sparkling. She sits down near the piano and gets ready to play. “This is fun!” She..doesn’t know how to play the piano. “Maybe if I practice, I’ll make a better-sounding melody!”

The next stop: the library. Miyuki seems pretty excited. “Is this the library?”

Akane whispers, “Sure is! Lots of books with many genres. My favorite is action-adventure.”

“A library without any people is kind of mysterious!” Miyuki looks around. “I wonder if there’s any fairytale books here.”

All of a sudden, a faint pink glow catches her eye. It seems to be coming from a bookshelf in front of her. “What..?”

She grabs a book called ‘The Mysterious Library’ from the center. “What could this light be..? It’s coming from inside the bookshelf..”

Akane walks towards it. “So strange.. You usually don’t see that in a library.” Miyuki moves some books to the left, then a few on the shelf below to the right. “Again?”

The empty space in the center shelf catches her eye. She moves some books to the sides, as the light gets brighter. “What..? What is this?!” A portal seems to have opened up in front of her and Akane.

Next thing they know, they’re sent into the portal, to…who knows where.

Back with Candy, she’s still jumping from roof to roof, even more panicked. “PreCure~kuru! Where are you~kuru!”

Reika catches up with her, though not jumping from roof to roof. Candy lands in her arms, and Reika takes off running.

In front of them is a humanoid wolf in a biker outfit, looking very suspicious. “Oh no! It’s him again!” Reika frets. “A wolf has showed up~kuru!” says Candy.

Miyuki and Akane hop out of the portal. While Akane lands on her feet, Miyuki falls on her face. “That hurts!”

The girls look around. “Amazing!” says Miyuki. “But, where are we?” She decides to walk around, admiring the interior. “So pretty~ All the walls are lined with books! Fantastic!”

Miyuki has a moment of realization. “Wait.. They’re just like the book from before.” She takes the pink book out of her bag and places it on the self. Because of this, she makes another portal appear.

“Hey, Miyuki, what’s up?” asks Akane, who takes notice of the pink glowing light, this one similar to before.

“It’s glowing again..!” Miyuki looks in the gap, then notices Reika frantically running, Candy in her arms. “Oh, where in the world could they be? PreCure.. Where are you?”

“Wh-What’s going on?” asks Miyuki, panicked. “Candy and Reika-chan are on the other side! We have to go save them from whatever’s going on…!” Because she can’t see them, Miyuki frantically moves books to get out, Akane helping.

The portal opens again. “Again?!” says Miyuki. The girls are sent through another portal, this time leading to…

“The bookshop at the shopping center?” says Miyuki.

Akane scratches her head. “Why are we here?”

Just then, they hear Candy’s voice. “Candy!” Miyuki looks around, then realizes it’s coming from the left side. “…This way!” Miyuki takes off running, this time, Akane following.

“Reika-chan, Candy! We’re coming!” The girls spot Reika in front of them, seemingly tired of running. “What’s up?”

“There’s a wolf..He’s chasing after us!” says Reika between breaths. “Isn’t he scary..?”

Miyuki puts her hands on Reika’s shoulders. “Reika-chan… Please calm down. Now, what happened?”

“A wolf has come from the sky~kuru,” says Candy.

“And he’s here to give the world a bad ending,” says Reika, now calmed down.

Miyuki chuckles. “There’s no way tha..” She looks up, and to her surprise, there he is. “..There really is something up there!”

The wolf looks down upon the area. “Heheh… I think I’ll get started with this town.” He grabs a book with a dark purple cover, a tube of black paint in his other hand. “The world…and the worst possible ending. Be stained with a Bad End! I’ll blot out the pages where your future will be written!”

SMEAR!!

In a swirl, the usually blue sky turns dark, a moon hanging in the sky. “Wh-What?!” Miyuki gets confused. “Is it night already..?” says Akane.

“Oh no!” says Candy. “…Wolfrun’s trying to give the world a Bad End~kuru!”

“A ‘Bad End’..?” Miyuki is still confused.

“That means a terrible future!” says Reika.

“A ‘terrible future’…..?”

Miyuki looks around. Everyone in the area - even Akane - is surrounded by a purple glow, their colors desaturated.

“It’s over for us..” “It’s hopeless to even try…”

“Bad Energy is coming out of everyone…!” Reika turns to Miyuki, who is STILL confused. “Bad Energy..?”

“Right you are, little girl!” says Wolfrun. “The Bad Energy from these humans is helping bring back the Emperor of Evil, Pierrot!”

A large clock is seen. The clock strikes 1, and a gigantic clown shrouded in darkness can be seen.

“Stop it~kuru..!” shouts Candy, who’s trying to jump out of Miyuki’s arms, but gets held back. “W-Wait, Candy..!”

Wolfrun jumps down, causing Miyuki and Reika to fall, and Candy to jump out. “Candy..!!”

“Oh? So, you’ve come to this world, too?”

“Don’t give the world a Bad End~kuru!”

“What are you talking about?” asks Miyuki, confused.

“The future will lead to nothing but a Bad End!” says Wolfrun. “Whatever you try to do is hopeless!”

Miyuki and Reika worry, while Candy speaks up. “You’re wrong~kuru! It won’t be hopeless at all~kuru!” She tears up. “I’m sure people can be happy if they try~kuru!!”

“..Whatever you reckon.”

Miyuki picks Candy up to defend her from Wolfrun, which…annoys him.

“It’s just as Candy says! My self-introduction didn’t go too well!” says Miyuki. “..But instead of giving up, I kept trying! My classmates helped me, and it all worked out in the end! Doing your best, to the very end, no matter what.. If you do that, then one day, you can definitely be happy!”

Hearing Miyuki’s speech has Reika in awe. “Miyuki-san..”

“What are you on about? Just shut up and hand her over!” Wolfrun sharpens his claws. “I’ll eat her up!”

Miyuki tightens her hold on Candy. “I’ve decided..”

“Aren’t you scared of me?”

“Of course I’m scared..!”

“Then what are you sticking up for her for?”

“I don’t know… But if someone’s gonna pick on this little creature, I’ll try to protect her, no matter who it is!”

Reika steps forward. “And me, too…! I promised the Queen that I’d protect her, no matter what the circumstances are! Sure, I haven’t been here for long, but I’m willing to protect Candy and my new friend!”

“Heheh.. Aren’t you the cocky ones? In that case, I’ll eat you first, redhead!” Wolfrun charges towards the duo and Candy.

“Run away~kuru!”

“You think you can?!” Very fast humanoid wolf indeed.

“Leave us and save yourself~kuru!” says Candy.

“Yeah,” says Reika, “we’ll handle the fleabag while you go on ahead!”

“I can’t do that!” Miyuki cries.

“But I’m scared~kuru!”

“Keep on running,” shouts Wolfrun, “I’ll just keep chasing you!”

“At this rate, you’ll get eaten, too~kuru!” says Candy.

“But I made my decision, and I’ll do everything I can! I think what you said was right, y’know!”

Candy is in awe. “Kuru..”

“Whatever you do will come to nothing!” …It seems to be Wolfrun’s lucky day, because Miyuki (still holding Candy) and Reika fell.

“Now, end of story! Give up and hand her over!”

“Nope! I’m not giving up!” says Miyuki. “When I’ve decided to do whatever I can, I’ll see it through the end! Because…. That’s what.. That’s what….”

“Ya little brat..” Cue Wolfrun about to attack both girls. “…I reckon that for you little pals, it’s time for beddy-byes!”

“..being happy is to me..!” As Miyuki finishes, there’s an explosion of pink light, knocking Wolfrun back…oh, and he did a front flip. “What’s that?”

Miyuki is enveloped in a bright pink atmosphere, Candy floating with her. “H-Hey, what’s going on?”

“We knew it, we just knew it~kuru!” Candy is excited. “You really are the chosen one!”

A small, pink compact-like device appears in front of her. “What’s this..?”

“A Smile Pact~kuru! See, you’re one of the four legendary Pretty Cure~kuru!”

“Pretty Cure?!” Miyuki is even more shocked.

“Put it together with a Cure Decor and something magical will happen~kuru! Well.. only if you say ‘Pretty Cure, Smile Charge’, of course~kuru!”

“Miyuki-san,” says Reika, nodding. “We believe in you! Do your best, okay?”

“I don’t really understand…” says Miyuki, switching from confusion to determination, “..but I’ll do it!”

Insert Cure Decor. “Ready?”

Miyuki’s hairbows glow a bright pink. “Pretty Cure, Smile Charge!”

“Go! Go, go, let’s go, Happy!” Miyuki grabs the small puff from the pact, starting her transformation. First, her gloves are created..

Tap-tap! ..then, her stockings and heels - kind of like pink-tinted glass slippers.

Tap-tap-tap! After that, her outfit - very much reminiscent of Cinderella’s dress, with a Pretty Cure touch.

A tiara appears in front of her. Once she puts it on, her hair changes into bright pink curled low twintails. She also gets a pair of earrings.

Tap-tap! Can’t forget blush! she thinks. After she’s done, Miyuki - now a Pretty Cure - optimistically floats down, her heels glittering.

“Twinkling and shining..” She twists her hands back and forth, then holds them up towards the viewer. “A dream come true!” She spins around, holding the sides of her skirt. “Cure Happy!” Cue pose, the background being light pink with a vision of a clock with Roman numerals, both its hand on the twelve. “Shall we dance?”

“I’ve found her, I’ve found her~kuru!” Candy rejoices.

After transforming, Happy flips out. “Did I just..Did I really…What in the..Oh God, what did I just say..?! I’m..”

Her flipping out turns to excitement. “..very cute! It’s pink! I love pink! And I’m Cinderella! My favorite fairytale! I turned into my favorite fairytale!”

“I hate pink..” comments Wolfrun. “..she’s so annoying!”

“Hey, hey! Calm down,” says Reika. “I know you’re excited, but you’re a Pretty Cure warrior now!”

“What do you mean by that?” asks Happy.

“It means you’ll fight the wolf~kuru!” says Candy. Happy…flips out again. “No, no way! I’m too scared, I’m too scared! I can’t fight him!”

“C’mon, you’re a Pretty Cure~kuru!”

“What even is a Pretty Cure, though?” asks Happy.

“Geez, who cares, honestly…” Wolfrun rolls his eyes, about to charge again. “I’ll make you regret your cockiness!”

“Right! If he’s a wolf.. C’mon, Reika-chan!” Happy runs off, Reika following behind. They run behind a brick fence.

“Happy-san, what are you doing..”

Happy peeks out from the top. “In the Three Little Pigs, the wolf couldn’t blow down the brick house! I’m gonna cause a happy end!”

“Oh, I see~kuru!”

“Happy-san is so smart, isn’t she..”

A moment of silence, until Wolfrun laughs. “You fools! I can do this!” He grabs a red clown nose and holds it up. “Come on, Akanbe!” The brick fence glows red with darkness, and the trio gets out from behind it.

A giant monster based on a brick house, with striped arms and legs, and clown shoes, appears. This is an Akanbe.

“Oh no, a brick monster!” cries Happy.

“That’s an Akanbe, a monster born through Pierrot’s power when the power of Cure Decors is converted to a Bad End.”

Candy realizes.. “..Cure Decor~kuru!”

“That makes no sense!” says Happy.

“Go forth, Akanbe!” The Akanbe leaps over Wolfrun, ready to attack. To both their - and Reika’s - surprise, Happy and Candy have jumped so high that.. they’re nearly a hundred feet in the air. “What the.. Oh god, what’s going on?!”

“Amazing, Happy~kuru!” Candy exclaims, holding Happy’s pigtail so she doesn’t fall.

“What’s going on?!” Wolfrun points at her. “Akanbe! Go get her!”

“Wait!! How do we get down from here?!” Happy is freaked out, even more than earlier. “The Akanbe’s coming~kuru!”

The Akanbe charges at them. Happy, in a panicked state, lets go of Candy and holds her hand out…unintentionally pushing the Akanbe out of the sky.

THUD!!

“That….was amazing.” Reika is awestruck again.

Happy lands on the ground, amazed. “Wow! What was that superpower I just used?!”

Candy is amazed as well. “Pretty Cures are warriors that defend the world~kuru!”

Reika joins in. “This is the start of your Pretty Cure story!”

“Oh! I get it now! So, I’m a TV super hero, right?”

And now Candy flips out. “That’s not it~kuru!”

Happy is determined. “Leave it to me! I’ll give it a shot! So.. what’s next?”

What none of them doesn’t realize is…they’re all standing on the Akanbe’s nose. Happy runs off. “Oh no! I’m scared, I’m scared, I’m scared!!”

“Don’t run, fight~kuru!”

Wolfrun comments again. “What..is up with her? Akanbe! She’s getting away! Do something!”

The Akanbe starts to chase the trio. “It’s after us! What do I do?!” says Happy.

“Use your attack to purify the Akanbe!” commands Reika.

“What’s my attack?”

“Your Pretty Cure healing power: Cinderella Shower~kuru!”

“How cool!” Happy nods. “I’ll try it!”

They stop running, which makes the Akanbe and Wolfrun stop running. “Ugh.. What is it this time?”

Happy spins around, preparing to attack. “Bibbity-bobbity, ultra-happy! Cinderella Shower!”

…Nothing. “H-Hey! Nothing happened…?!” After multiple attempts, still nothing.

“How pathetic..” Wolfrun sends the Akanbe towards her.

…Back to it chasing the trio. “…Again, Happy-san?” Reika shakes her head.

“But whyyyyyyy?!” Happy whines.

“You didn’t have enough spirit~kuru!” says Candy.

“No way! I was totally fired up for it! Now I’m embarrassed! And it’s all my fault!”

“Akanbe-be-be!” Akanbe uses its tongue to attack, which fails. And then again, and again. Then, it manages to knock the girls down. Candy falls out of Happy’s arms.

“Hapuppu…it’s no good..” Happy begins to doubt herself. “If I keep running away, so will the happiness. And there’s no way on earth that..” She turns back to the Akanbe, mad. “..I’m letting that bad wolf beat me!” Her Smile Pact begins to glow in its bag.

”The Smile Pact~kuru! Put your spirit into it~kuru!”

“Spirit, spirit!” Happy chants. “Spirit!”

The Pact is sucking up energy. “It’s drawing out power?!”

“Don’t stop, keep going~kuru!”

“Just give up already!” says Wolfrun. “Akanbe, ready?”

“Spirit, spirit, spirit…spirit!” Happy shouts. Cue a big burst of pink light.

Reika and Candy shout to her. “Go for it, Happy-san!” “Do your best~kuru!”

The Pact explodes into light. “Pretty Cure!” Happy draws a heart with her hands. She takes hold of it, spinning around as the heart expands. “Cinderella Shower!!” It changes into a beam of light, rushing towards the Akanbe, then hitting it with full-force. BOOM!!

“Akanbe!” Its nose disintegrates. Bye-bye Akanbe.

“Did I..” Happy is exhausted. “….destroy it? I’m totally worn out!” She plops onto the ground.

“That was intense, wasn’t it?” asks Reika. Happy nods.

“Cinderella Shower uses lots of power~kuru! Might wanna take note of that~kuru.” explains Candy.

“You could’ve told me.. It was so scary!”

The girls see an item falling from the sky. The strawberry-shaped item lands in Happy’s hand. “What’s this?”

“It’s a Cure Decor~kuru!” says Candy.

“Yay, Happy-san!” says Reika. “That’s the first Decor! Isn’t it cute?”

“A what? Wait, where’d that wolf go?” Happy looks around.

To answer her question, the wolf is floating in the sky, mad. “That Pretty Cure…! I’ll get her, next time!” He disappears.

The moon fades away, and the sky turns back to its usually bright self. Everyone looks up, in cluelessness.

Miyuki, now herself, smiles. “Thank goodness… They’re all smiling again! Wait, where’s Akane….” She looks around.

“She must’ve gone home….” She turns to the others. “…By the way… you two have a lot of explaining to do.”

Reika begins. “It’s easy! Your job is to be a Pretty Cure and collect Cure Decors..”

Candy jumps down, smiling. “..and we want you to save our world~kuru!”

“I..don’t understand one bit.” Miyuki is shocked, but then it turns to determination. “But that sounds interesting! I’m so in!”

Candy’s eyes sparkle. “Thank you~kuru!”

“And we’ll help you, Miyuki-san,” Reika winks. “Got it?”

Miyuki nods. “Okay! I’ll see you tomorrow, Reika-chan!”

She walks home, feeling very giddy.

Miyuki’s voice provides narration. “My name is Hoshizora Miyuki, a new student at Nanairogaoka Middle School! It’s been a very interesting day, and now that I’m a princess…I mean, a Pretty Cure…my Pretty Cure story has just begun! I feel so ultra-happy!”

The Beautiful Transfer Student: Reika-chan!

美しい転校生: れいかちゃん!

Utsukushii Tenkousei: Reika-chan!

Hours later, after the events of Episode 1..

Reika and Candy are sitting on the grass at a park at night, gazing at the full moon. It’s quiet, until Reika speaks. “That place Miyuki-san mentioned..school, is that right?”

Candy nods. “I think so~kuru.”

“Sounds interesting…” says Reika. “I’ve never had an actual education back in Marchënland, have I..hmm..” A light goes off in her head. “..I’ve decided! I’m gonna go to school!”

“Oh wow~kuru!” Candy’s eyes sparkle, amazed. “I want to go, too~kuru!

“I’m not sure… We’d probably have to ask Miyuki-san if you can come with.”

“Aww..” Candy pouts as she sits down.

Reika yawns. “Wait a second, I just realized.. We don’t have a place to live, do we?”

“Oh yeah, you’re right..THAT’S A PROBLEM~kuru!!!”

Reika looks sad again “Great… so we’re homeless… I guess we can see if someone will take us in..!” She stands up and picks up Candy, leaving the park.

[Title Card: The Beautiful Transfer Student: Reika-chan!]

After walking for what seemed like hours, it eventually gets dark.

“This seems like the perfect neighborhood, doesn’t it..”

“Ah, this is Miyuki’s neighborhood~kuru!” thinks Candy.

Reika trips over something, possibly hurting herself..?

“Owwww..”

“Reika!” Candy panics. “Are you okay~kuru?”

“Hope so..” She tries to get up, but flinches in pain.

Then a woman with dark bluish-purple hair, Shizuko, exits her house, seeing Reika on the ground. Candy quickly gets in Reika’s bag to hide.

“Hm? What was that ‘kuru’?” Shizuko walks towards Reika, a little confused and tired. “Why, who might you be, young lady? It’s not safe at night.”

As Candy pretends she’s a plushie. Reika tries to get up off the ground, but flinches again.

“Oh my, young lady..let me help you!” Thankfully, Shizuko helps Reika stand up.

“Th-Thank you..” the latter says, in a rather shy voice.

“Oh, it’s nothing! Now, shouldn’t you be home?” Shizuko asks.

“Um, the thing is..” Reika nervously laughs, playing with the hem of her dress. “….I don’t really have a place to stay..”

This shocks Shizuko. “Oh my, young lady…. if you wouldn’t mind..” Her smile returns as she speaks. “Please stay with me and my family. I can’t bear to see a young lady like you alone out here.”

“That’d be great, thank you.” Seeing her smile makes Reika smile as well.

“No need to thank me, young lady. Let’s go now, it’s quite late.” Shizuku and Reika walk in. Candy sits in Reika’s bag, but hidden.

“This place looks lovely, doesn’t it..” says Reika, as Shizuko pulls out a chair for her in the dining room.

“Why thank you, young lady.” She sits down as well. “What might your name be?”

“It’s Reika.”

Shizuko nods. “Oh, it’s nice to meet you Reika-san. Do you have a last name?”

“No,” answers Reika, shaking her head.

“Oh, alright then.. Where do you come from? It must have been far.”

The young blue-haired girl gets nervous. “U-umm… well… I ran away…..from an orphanage? That’s right.”

“Oh, that must have been tough for you. I’ll make you some tea and onigiri.” Shizuko stands up and goes to the kitchen to make it for her.”

“Thank you, ma’am.” Reika nods, then looks inside her bag. Candy’s still in there. “Are you doing okay?”

“I’m...hungry~kuru..”

“Well, she’s making onigiri and tea… maybe I’ll share it with you. But..then again, she can’t see you..” Reika has an idea. “I’ll just have to sneak some onigiri into my bag for you!”

Candy’s eyes sparkle. “Yay~kuru!!” She and Reika happily wait for the onigiri and tea to be done. “So hungry~kuru..” Candy’s stomach growls.

Shizuko comes out with the tea and onigiri. “Hm? I heard it again..that ‘kuru’…what could that be..?”

Reika bows her head. “Thank you for the food.”

“Oh, so polite! It’s nothing, really..” Shizuko sits down next to her. “Have you also heard that strange sound? It sounds like ‘kuru’ or something..”

“I have not..” 

Shizuko blinks twice, then grabs her tea and takes a sip. “I must be hearing things, then.”

Reika grabs an onigiri. While usually ladylike, she begins to pig out - she’s that hungry!

“Are they good?” asks Shizuko. Her new daughter nods. “Oh, I’m glad.”

Later, after the meal, Shizuko gets up. “Alright, Reika-chan, I’ll make your bed ready for you.” She leaves the room, and Reika follows. Once she enters, the bed, a futon, seems to be almost done.

“Here it is, dear! Do you like it?”

Reika’s eyes sparkle in delight. “It looks nice, thank you.”

“It’s nothing, really.” Shizuko glances at a stack of clothes on the futon. “I put some clothes for you to sleep in there. And if you’d like to shower..” Then she turns to a door next to the dresser.

As soon as her new mom is gone, Reika takes her bag off and grabs the stack of clothes, heading off to shower.

“It’s so comfy~kuru!” Candy rolls around on the bed.

Once Reika finishes, she puts pajamas on and re-enters the room. “That felt good! Never have I used that kind of shower before..”

“You’re back, Reika~kuru!!” Candy jumps into Reika’s arms excitedly, hugging her. The latter yawns again, making the former yawn as well. “I’m sleepy~kuru…”

They get in bed and go to sleep, Candy laying next to her.

The next day, Miyuki and Akane are walking to school.

Miyuki stretches her arms. “Today’s gonna be an ultra-happy day, I just know it!”

“You said it!” responds Akane. “And I got a volleyball game today! You gonna go watch?”

“Of course, Akane!” Miyuki gives her a thumbs-up. “Count on me as your support!!!

“Thanks, Miyuki!”

At that moment, Reika walks up to them, now in her brand-new Nanairogaoka Middle School uniform. Her version has a light blue T-shirt-like top over the dress and a blue tie. In a somewhat excited mood, she twirls around and speaks in a rather singsongy voice. “Miyuki-san! Good morning~!”

“Oh my.. Reika-chan..” Miyuki’s eyes sparkle. “You look so beautiful!!”

“Ehehe, thank you..!” Reika is flustered, but quickly gets it together. “Can I walk with you and your friend?

“Of course!” Miyuki nods. “See? I said today’s gonna be an ultra-happy day!”

As they start walking, Reika turns to Miyuki. “Miyuki-san, who’s your friend?”

“Ohh, yea! Reika-chan, meet Akane! Akane meet Reika!!”

Akane offers her a handshake. “Hino Akane! Wouldja like to be friends?”

Reika nods and shakes her hand. As they continue walking, she thinks, “First, Miyuki-san and now me? I hope I make a good first impression..”

Akane turns around. “Here we are! Nanairogaoka Middle School!”

Reika looks up at the school in awe. “It’s so big, isn’t it..”

“It’s got like 9 classes here and several club rooms. I’ll give ya the tour later if ya want… or Miyuki can! I gave her a tour yesterday!” The girls enter. Reika follows Miyuki and Akane to class 2-2.

“I’d be glad to give her a tour!” Miyuki says, smiling.

“Thank you, Miyuki-san.” Reika nods. As soon as they walk in, all eyes on her. The students begin murmuring, “Oh my god, she’s beautiful..” “Who is she?” “Her hair’s amazing… oh my god!”

The students’ compliments make Reika flustered and once again a bit shy. She walks up to the chalkboard to write her name, then takes a deep breath and turns around.

Though still pretty shy, she speaks rather confidently “…My name is Aoki Reika, an ordinary girl from.. Nana-iro-gaoka? I like archery, and traditional Japanese fairy tales…It’s nice to meet you.” After introducing herself, she bows.

More murmuring from the students. “Such a pretty girl…” “I should ask her out later, shouldn’t I..” “She’d make a great archery opponent, I just know it!”

“You did a lovely job, Aoki-san,” says Ms. Sasaki. “There’s an empty seat next to Midorikawa-san reserved for you.”

Reika leaves the chalkboard and goes to her new desk. “…I did pretty good, didn’t I…” she thinks. “Oh, the people here seem rather welcoming.. I think I’m gonna enjoy it here..!”

Nao, the girl sitting to the right of Reika, turns to her. “Hey! Nice to meet you, I’m Midorikawa Nao.”

“Hm? Oh, hello,” says Reika. “It’s nice to meet you, as well, Midorikawa-san.”

“Looks like you’re already quite popular, how amazing!”

“Ahaha, yeah..” Reika looks up. “I wonder why that is…”

“It’s not obvious? Really?” Nao starts listing things. “You’re quite beautiful, for one..especially your hair!”

“Oh, umm..” Our blue-haired transfer student starts getting flustered again. “..Th-Thanks.”

During lunch time, Miyuki, Akane, Yayoi and Nao are sitting at a table. Reika is outside as well, holding a bento box, but not knowing where to sit until she spots them.

“H-Hey, umm, can I..sit with you?”

Miyuki nods. “Of course, Reika-san!!”

After finding a spot, Reika opens her bento box and begins to eat. While doing so, she listens to her brand-new friends conversing with each other. From Miyuki talking about one of her favorite fairytales to Nao talking about soccer, these conversations seem very fun to listen to.

“It’s all so interesting…” thinks Reika. “I think I’m starting to like school even more!”

After school, Reika goes to her locker to grab her stuff and sees some envelopes fall out. She picks a few up. “What in the world..?”

Miyuki, who had just gotten her schoolbag from her locker, turns to Reika, rather excited. “Your first day of school and you’ve already started getting love letters. You seem quite popular already, Reika-chan!”

“Love letters..? What are those?”

“Sometimes, when people want to confess their love, they write a letter! It looks like you’re pretty popular! Doesn’t it make you ultra-happy?”

“I-I guess…?” Reika puts them in her school bag. “Hey, you said you were gonna give me a tour of the school, right?”

“Oh yeah! Hehe, let’s go..!” Miyuki pulls Reika by her arm, taking her by surprise.

After several minutes, the tour is almost finished. The final part of the school tour is the student council room. Akane, who decided to come with them, opens the door.

“Aaaand here’s the student council room! It’s always super busy in there,” says Akane, “that’s ’cos of all the work they have to do!”

“That’s the student council members for you!” says Miyuki.

“So hardworking..” Reika mumbles, watching in awe as the student council members continue their work.

Miyuki grabs Reika by the arm. “Alrighty, that’s the end of the tour! Wasn’t it fun?”

The girls back away from the room, going towards the exit.

The girls are walking home. Since Akane already left, now it’s just Miyuki and Reika walking together.

“Miyuki-san… thanks for the tour,” says Reika. “You’re such a good tour guide, y’know?”

“It was very fun!” Miyuki nods. “I enjoyed it..!”

“Maybe we could…hang out more often? I’d love to get to know more about you..”

“Of course, Reika-chan!” Miyuki giggles. “Let’s get to know each other muuuuch better, alright?”

“Mm-hmm! Let’s start with you.” While twirling one of her sidepieces, Reika finally comes up with something. “Alright then.. did you live somewhere else before moving here?”

“I sure did!!” says Miyuki, enthusiastically. “Before coming here, I lived at my grandmother’s house in the countryside. She told me many stories as a child. That’s when I got into fairytales and such. Then my parents and I had to move… I was pretty sad at first, since I’d made so many ultra-happy memories there..”

Reika asks her next question. “And when you came here, were you nervous?”

“Ehehe~” Miyuki puts her hand on the back of her head. “I was, for sure! But then I overcame it!”

“Well, I’m glad you were able to overcome that. I wish I was as confident as you..” Reika looks down, her smile fading. “I used to be pretty confident before coming here, though.”

“Ehehe~ Yes, it might sound easy. Honestly, it was quite difficult for me...” Miyuki turns to Reika. “Anyways, Reika-san, what was your original homeplace called again?”

“Marchënland.”

“Yes, there!” Miyuki claps once. “It must’ve been a dream world!!”

“Mm-hmm, the land of fairy tales!” Reika winks. “And I’m a princess from there..!”

“Wow, a princess!! How great!!”

“That’s right, so bow down to me..!” The last part is said in a joking manner.

“Oh, of course!” Miyuki bows in front of her, also speaking in a similar manner. “How could I be so rude, your Majesty, Reika-san~!”

They stop by Reika’s house.

“You’re funny, Miyuki-chan,” says Reika, giggling. “See ya!” She runs up to her house and heads inside.

“Oh!” Miyuki waves. “Ahaha… Bye, Reika-chan!!” She walks away. What she doesn’t realize, however, is she and Reika switched bags..!

“I’m home..” Although still in a good mood, Reika is pretty exhausted.

“Welcome back,” says Shizuko. “How was school?”

“It was good. I made friends, and I’ve got…home-work?” It doesn’t seem like she’s heard of homework of it before.

“Oh, that’s great to hear!” Shizuko heads into the kitchen. “Alright, you can go do your homework now!”

Reika goes to her bedroom and sits at her desk to start her homework. Candy jumps up from behind and hugs Reika in a rather energetic manner. “Reika, your back~kuru! So how was school~kuru?”

“It was fine. And now I’ve got homework to do.” Reika turns back to her paper. “Candy, are you any good at math?”

“Math~kuru? Is it a fruit?? I wanna try it~kuru!”

“Ahaha… no. It’s a subject. I could teach you some if you’d like me to.”

Candy is excited, her eyes sparkling. “Yes, please~kuru!!”

Reika grabs her school bag and empties it. Out falls a math textbook and…a Smile Pact? While she thinks the textbook is hers, she gets surprised seeing the Smile Pact in front of her.

Candy hops on the desk. “A Smile Pact~kuru?”

“…? What’s…this is Miyuki-san’s, isn’t it..”

“I think so, too~kuru!

Reika, now even more confused, closely examines it. “But.. how…?”

“Magic~kuru?”

“Huh..” Reika puts it in her bag, still confused. “I’ll return it to her tomorrow…”

“Maybe it got swapped by magic~kuru!!”

“Yeah, maybe…” She grabs her pencil and continues doing the work. “Alright, point-slope form… y minus y1 equals m times x minus x one… Oh boy, this is gonna be so difficult, isn’t it…”

The next morning, Miyuki, Reika, and Akane are once again walking to school.

Akane turns to Reika. “Sooo lemme get this straight. You’re a princess from Marchënland?”

“That’s right, yes.”

Miyuki clasps her hands, very excited. “Ooh, tell us more, Reika-chan! What does your name mean? What do you like to do for fun? Do you have any friends from Marchënland? And… what’s your favorite fairytale?”

Reika starts getting shy again. “U-Umm…well…”

“Miyuki,” says Akane, “you’re gonna fry her brain with all of those questions!”

“Oh, oops.. ehehe~”

“Oh, that’s okay, I don’t mind.” That’s when she remembers something. “U-Um.. Miyuki-san?” From her bag, she grabs Miyuki’s Smile Pact. “We may have switched bags… I don’t know how it happened.”

“Oh! I didn't even notice! Thanks, Reika-chan!” Miyuki puts her Smile Pact in her bag again, then does a spin. “Today’s gonna be ultra-happy, too!” she thinks.

“Miyuki-san’s lucky that she has a working transformation item..” thinks Reika, “and mine doesn’t even work, does it.. I-I’m gonna figure out how to fix it!”

The girls arrive at school, where one of the male students speed-walks up to Reika, taking her by surprise. “Aoki-san! Oh, such a pretty girl… Please go out with me?”

“Ehhh—?!” Miyuki and Akane are taken by surprise as well. “What?!”

“Go out..?”

“Yes, please go out with me!!!” The student asks again.

Not knowing what ‘go out’ means, Reika misinterprets this. “..U-Umm.. Alright then.” She walks out of the building. “H-Hey, you coming?”

Akane facepalms. “He meant on a date!”

”A date..?” Reika tilts her head, slightly confused. “..What’s that?”

“It’s like..” Miyuki begins to daydream. “..in fairytales where the prince and princess fall madly in love and go on many adventures together! Usually going out for coffee, for ice cream, y’know..”

“Is he a prince?”

Miyuki decides to check. “Hmm..HMMMM? Oh, he doesn’t have a crown! Or a white horse!”

“Uhh… Miyuki..” Akane starts getting confused, while Reika just laughs softly. The student leaves. “Ummm.. I’ll just go.”

After he leaves, Miyuki is disappointed. “Awww man! I wish he was a prince! Happuppu..”

Akane calls to the student. “Ahahaha, we’re so sorry about that..!” She walks to Class 2-2. “C’mon, girls.”

Later, after school..

“Alright, everyone,” says Ms. Sasaki. “Don’t forget to do your English homework! It’s due next Thursday!”

Everyone walks home. “A 90..” thinks Reika. “Not bad… For someone who hasn’t had proper education on Earth… That was pretty good.”

That’s when she remembers what Miyuki asked her earlier. “Oh, Miyuki-san! To answer your questions from earlier…”

While answering these questions, she speaks quite quickly. “My name means ‘beautiful and elegant’, going with how I look and my personality.” Then she starts counting on her fingers. “My interests are scroll-painting, swordfighting, singing, and archery. Other than Candy, one of my friends is Mitsuya, whose family owns a millet dumpling store. My favorite fairytales are mostly Japanese, but I also really like Snow White.”

“Oh wow!!” Miyuki’s eyes sparkle.

“Any more questions? I’m willing to answer them!”

Miyuki thinks for a while.

“At least..” Reika briefly looks down, feeling disappointed. “He was my friend…”

“I love Snow White, too, actually!!” says Miyuki. “She’s so kind, the prince is so cute, but not as cute as Peter Pan!!”

“Oh?” Reika looks up. “Is Peter Pan one of your favorites?”

“Aoki-san, you have no idea.” As Miyuki’s childhood friend, Akane knows Miyuki well enough to know she’s very big on Peter Pan.

Miyuki does a spin while walking, almost tripping. “I love, love, LOVE Peter Pan!”

That’s when Reika has an idea. “Maybe sometime we could meet up and read fairytales together..? Then, we could get to know each other’s favorite fairytales better.”

“So.. like a book club?” comments Akane.

“I.. guess? What’s that?”

“We should have a book club!” says Miyuki. “Good idea, Reika-chan!”

“That’d be pretty fun. Maybe over the weekend,” explains Akane, “because I don’t have work. See, me and my family have a restaurant at our house. Maybe on Saturday, we can have the book club?”

“Saturday works. What do you think of this, Miyuki-chan?”

“Yes!!” Miyuki seems very excited to do a book club on the coming Saturday. “Perfection!”

Meanwhile… Guess who’s back, back again? It’s Wolfrun!

“Let’s try this again, Cure Happy!“ He grabs his book and a tube of black paint in his other hand. “The world…and the worst possible ending. Be stained with a Bad End! I’ll blot out the pages where your future will be written!”

SMEAR!!

Once again, the sky becomes dark blue.

Akane falls to the ground, emitting negative energy. “It’s all hopeless.. Just hopeless….”

“Akane!!” Miyuki kneels down next to her.

“What’s the point of happy endings anyway? So pointless.. honestly…”

“Of course they are!” says Wolfrun. “This world will get the saddest ending possible by the hands of the Emperor of Evil, Pierrot!”

The Bad Energy Memory clock strikes 2.

“Come out, Akanbe!” Wolfrun summons an Akanbe based on a bouquet of red roses.

Candy flies and hops towards the girls, panicking. “Miyuki, Miyuki..~kuru! Transform~kuru!”

“I’m on it!” Miyuki holds up her Smile Pact.

Insert Cure Decor. “Ready?”

“Pretty Cure, Smile Charge!”

The small puff from the pact appears. “Go! Go, go, let’s go, Happy!”

After this, cue introduction speech. “Twinkling and shining, a dream come true! Cure Happy! Shall we dance?”

“I’ll get ya this time!” Wolfrun holds up a red Akanbe nose. “Come out, Akanbe!” An Akanbe based on a daisy appears.

Cure Happy rushes towards it and jumps up, intending to kick it in the face. What she doesn’t remember is that she has soooo much power, that…. She falls flat on her face!

“Happy-chan~kuru!” Candy starts to get panicky.

“What’s wrong, is little Happy getting tired?” Wolfrun taints Happy. “That’s to be expected from a puny mortal.”

“Don’t give up~kuru!” calls Candy.

Happy tries to get up. “Th-thank you, C-Candy..”

Just then.. “You can do this, Happy-san! I believe in you!” Reika calls. Happy turns to her, hearing her cheer for her. “Hooray-hooray, Happy-san! Do your best, Happy-san!”

Candy does the same. “Hooray-hooray, Happy~kuru! Do your best, Happy~kuru!”

Happy stands up. “Thanks, you two. Today’s gonna get an ultra-happy end! I’m sure of it!” She rushes towards the Akanbe, jumping very high, and attacking it. This seems to make dents.

“Such bravery..” Reika gets a small item from her bag… and it’s broken. She gets a little sad, but nobody notices.

“I did it! It’s gonna be gone in no time!” Happy rejoices.

“Purify it before it’s too late~kuru!” says Candy.

“Ufufufu..” Wolfrun smirks, his arms crossed. “..if you can!”

“You bet I can!” Happy chants, her pact gathering energy. “Spirit, spirit, spirit…spirit!”

“Pretty Cure!” It’s attack time. “Cinderella Shower!”

“Akan..be…” Purified. Wolfrun leaves, as the sky goes back to its usual, bright blue self. A small rose falls from the sky.

“Another Decor..!” thinks Happy, holding the Rose Decor.

“You did it(~kuru)!” Candy and Reika are excited.

“It’s thanks to you guys that we’ve gotten another Décor!”

“It was no problem, really,” says Reika. “Just wanted to help our friend.”

Akane, free from the Bad End spell, looks around. “What in the..” She looks up, seeing Candy, Reika, and Happy. “Hey.. Where’s Miyuki?”

Happy turns to Akane, panicking a bit. “U-Um..uh.. uh…! Miyuki is..um..she is—!”

“….Miyuki, is that you?” Akane stands up.

“Wh-What?! N-no, of course, I-I’m not Miyuki, A-Akane..!” Happy is a nervous wreck.

“Then how do ya know my name?” Uh-oh..

Realizing the mistake she made, Happy gets more nervous. She turns to Candy and Reika, the latter of which giggling to herself. She seems to be enjoying this.

“Fine…” Miyuki detransforms. “..Tada~..!!” A nervous smile is on her face.

“What you did there was great.” Akane gives her a thumbs-up. “You really showed ‘em!”

“R-Really!? Heheh.. Thank you, Akane!!” Miyuki is no longer nervous.

“No prob! Alrighty..” Akane points in the direction where Miyuki’s house is. “Onward to your house!” She takes off running, with Reika doing the same.

Miyuki runs after them. “H-Hey, wait up!!”

Once Miyuki’s caught up to them, Reika turns to her and Akane. “Miyuki-chan, Hino-san? I’m so glad to have you two as friends. Let’s continue doing our best, okay?”

The girls nod. “You two make me so ultra-happy!” Miyuki does a small twirl, almost stumbling, but catching herself and chuckling.

Hot Blooded Power! The Thief is Cure Sunny!

[Recap]

I’m Hoshizora Miyuki! I met Candy and a girl my age named Reika, who both came out of a picture book, and somehow I became a legendary warrior: a Pretty Cure!

“Pretty Cure! Cinderella…Shower!”

And after I defeated a monster called an Akanbe, a Cure Décor appeared! The next day, Reika-san transferred to my school, and is quite popular there..! She even got asked out! Well, anyways.. Then another Akanbe came, and after I defeated it, Akane found out my identity..! And she took it better than I thought! Another Décor means another step to saving Marchënland, where Candy and Reika-san live!

Miyuki holds up the Rose Décor, admiring it. Candy sits on her head. “I want you to be a Pretty Cure and collect Cure Décors~kuru! And then I want you to save my world~kuru!”

“I don’t really understand…” Miyuki’s slight confusion turns into determination. “..but it sounds interesting! Ultra-okay! Let’s do this!”

[Opening]

Two kids had just left the nearby seafood market, and are now sitting on a bench. One sets a bag of items down and checks his phone, but once he turns his phone off…

“What in the world?” The bag had been bag-napped! Who could’ve done this?!

A silhouette takes off with the bag of seafood, whispering to herself. “Looks like we don’t hafta skip dinner after all..”

Miyuki and Candy sit in the former’s bedroom, practicing their formal introductions.

“I’m Hoshizora Miyuki!” “I’m Candy!” While bowing, they say at the same time, “Pleased to meet you!”

Candy’s stomach growls. “What was that?” asks Miyuki.

“That was the sound of my stomach~kuru.” Candy stands up. “At times like this..” She grabs the Strawberry Décor, continuing. “..the Cure Décor really comes in handy~kuru! The Cure Décor has mysterious powers~kuru. Miyuki, can you take out the Smile Pact~kuru?”

“Right..!” Miyuki gets her Smile Pact, still kind of clueless about what to do. “What do I do?”

“Put the Décor into your Pact~kuru!”

“I see..” Miyuki does just that. “Let’s go! Strawberry!”

A big strawberry appears. “It’s time to eat!” Candy gets on and eats it.

Miyuki, quite amazed by the giant strawberry in the center of her room, asks, “Didn’t you say the Cure Décor are for saving your world?”

Candy finishes. “That’s right, they’re really precious~kuru. On top of that, the only ones who can collect them are the Four..maybe five, Pretty Cure.”

“More Pretty Cure?” Miyuki looks at her hand, then gasps. “There’s other Pretty Cure?”

Silhouettes of various people appear in the background as Candy explains. Such silhouettes are of a girl with a long ponytail, a girl with long curled hair and small buns on the sides, and a girl with both a ponytail and curled pigtails.

“That’s right. You’re not the only Smile Pretty Cure!, there’s more that still aren’t found. Who knows, one of them could be someone you know!”

“Amazing~!” Miyuki falls backwards on her head. “Ow-ow-ow, my head..!”

“I’d be worried if it were just you~kuru..” says Candy, kind of snarky. “Hurry up and find the other Pretty Cure.”

“It’s gonna be super hard to do..” Miyuki pouts. “And I don’t think I’ll have the time to because school and stuff.” That’s when she realizes.. “Wait, ‘someone I know’..?”

In a dark and gloomy place, aka the Bad End Kingdom…

“That Pretty Cure..!” Fueled by anger after losing the last two battles, Wolfrun punches a rock very hard. There are two silhouettes looking at each other, one being of a troll, the other being of a witch.

“How could I lose to a brat like her? Whatever..” Wolfrun forms his paw into a fist. “Next time our paths cross, I’ll make sure I eliminate her.” He starts laughing and howls.

The next day, during volleyball practice..

“Right!” Akane is determined. “Time to show you how it’s done!”

The volleyball is thrown up, and Akane spikes it. She’s very good at volleyball, as some may see.

“She’s fast..” says Nao. The home score changes from 3 to 4. Yayoi panics while hitting the ball.

“Pass it, Miyuki!” calls Akane.

Miyuki freaks out. “Waaaaa—!” She holds her hands out to catch it, but..

BOOM!!

While Miyuki falls to the ground, Akane jumps up to spike it again. Nao turns to Reika. “Aoki-san, you ready?” She nods and they jump to block the hit.

“If you think you can block it, go ahead and try!” Akane winks. “Hino Special Attack!” She spins midair and spikes the volleyball.

The other team is taken by surprise. “She beat us..!” says Nao. One of her other teammates comments, “Hehe.. what do you expect from the candidate for the volleyball club’s ace attacker?”

“She’s amazing…!” says Reika.

Akane jumps down. “Alright!” What she doesn’t notice is a very dizzy Miyuki falling to the ground. “Hoshizora..!” Yayoi runs up to her, panicking. “Oh no, are you okay?!”

Elsewhere, a small bush is moving around. Candy’s head pops out. However, she soon leaves.

Akane, Yayoi, and Reika check on Miyuki. “Heyyyy,” says Akane, “are you okay?”

Miyuki does a double thumbs-up. “Somehow.”

“That was pretty good, that face strike!” She grabs Miyuki by the wrists and helps her up, then turns to Yayoi. “Same with your whimpering receive.”

“I wasn’t crying..!” Yayoi pouts.

“And Aoki-san, you’ve really gotten the hang of playing at all!” Akane gives Reika a thumbs-up. “Like, who would’ve thought a princess could make such an amazing strike!”

“Ahaha, it wasn’t all that easy, was it..” Akane’s praise gets Reika flustered.

Yayoi is intrigued. “Wait, you’re..a princess?”

“The sporty Akane, the gentle Kise-san, and the modest Reika-san..” Miyuki nods, as an idea pops into her head. “That’s it!”

“What’s what?”

Miyuki turns to her. “I want you two..” This takes Akane and Yayoi by surprise.

During lunch, Akane and Yayoi are eating together, when Miyuki comes up to them, with Reika behind her.

“..to be Pretty Cure with me!” She finishes, her magenta eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Pretty..” “..Cure?”

Candy pops up from the bush. “Pretty Cure?!”

“That’s right! Pretty Cure!” Miyuki hugs Akane, who’s still holding her lunch. “Let’s do it! C’mon, c’mon, please!”

“Wh-what the heck? What’s a ‘Pretty Cure’?” “We’ll have so much fun doing it together!”

Candy leaps out from the bush, jumping at Miyuki’s face, causing her to curl into a ball and roll away, even bumping into an invisible object.

Candy taps Miyuki’s head multiple times. “Pretty Cure are a secret~kuru!”

“Whyyyyy..”

She stops. “Besides, it’s not like just anybody can become a Pretty Cure~kuru..”

Miyuki gets up. “So.. what kind of person can?”

Cue the back and forth from them. “Well..” “Well?” “Well..” “Well?”

“I don’t know~kuru!” Candy’s response makes Miyuki falls over again.

“You don’t know?!” She crosses her arms. “But apparently, a klutzy airhead like me can become one..”

“That’s true.”

“Heyyy..” She stretches Candy’s face on the sides. “You’re not supposed to agree!”

Just then, Akane comes in, ticking Miyuki, taking her by surprise. “Ehh?! Akane?!” Yayoi and Reika are behind her.

“You just hid a sheep plushie, didn’t you?”

“Sheep?!” Ooh, Candy’s mad. “I’m not a sheep!!”

Miyuki covers her mouth, but Akane tries to see her. “What was that? Hmm? Hmm? Hmm?”

“N-Nothing at all!”

“Never mind.” Akane gives up. “Oh, hey, Miyuki! About that ‘CrePure’ thing, I’ll pass. Volleyball club’s givin’ me enough to think about right now.” She stands up, determined. “I’ve gotta become their ace attacker! Not just that, but I’ve also gotta win the upcoming volleyball tournament! The winner gets prize money.”

“No worries, no worries..! Besides, being the ace attacker would be pretty impressive!”

“Oh? Wanna come see me in my full glory?”

Miyuki is excited. “Can I? I wanna go!!”

“It would be fun to watch, wouldn’t it..” says Reika. “I’d like to get better at volleyball. I’d like to learn some tricks from you, so count me in, okay?”

Behind Miyuki’s back is a pouting Candy.

At the volleyball game, everyone is there.

Miyuki cheers loudly. “Go for it, Akane!!”

Akane leaps in to try and spike the ball, but… she misses. She misses many times and doesn’t go all out with spiking like she usually does.

“Huh?” Miyuki and Reika are getting worried. They hear two girls talking.

“Is Hino-san the current ace?” “Hmm, is she now…?”

One girl turns back to the field. “I reckon Yuka’s the ace..”

Two girls high five. “Nice, Yuka!”

Miyuki looks back at Akane. The score is 23 (other team)-7 (Nanairogaoka). Akane seems worried.

“Just great…” she thinks, “now I’ll never win that money for my family.. Guess my thieving days aren’t over yet…”

That evening, Miyuki is walking home, when…

“Akane..” mutters Miyuki. “She looked really frustrated…”

Akane’s right there, throwing/spiking/catching a volleyball. Miyuki decides to go talk to her. “Akane?”

After watching Akane practice, she sees… tears? Could she be crying…?!

“She’s crying! This is where I come in.”

Miyuki raises her arms and jumps up and down to get her attention. “Heyyy, Akane!!” Just then, she trips on a rock, and down she goes, tumbling down the hill.

“Miyuki!” It’s too late. Miyuki falls on her face. Akane runs up to her. “Hey, are you alright?”

“I’m fine..!” Our magenta-haired airhead gets up. “N-Never mind me, Akane! Cheer up! When you cry, your happiness disappears! Smile! Smile!”

Akane is confused. “But… I wasn’t crying…”

“Oh? But I just saw teardrops on the ground!”

Akane’s smile returns. “That was sweat!”

“Sweat? Ahaha, silly me..! I could’ve sworn you’d gotten down about that match! I wasn’t feeling down! Some extra training’s all I need!”

Miyuki grabs Akane’s wrists, smiling as well. “In that case, I’ll help you out!”

“I don’t need anyone’s help. At least, that’s what I’d usually say!” Akane giggles. “I guess I’ll take up the offer!”

“Okay!”

During their practice session, Candy’s head pops out of Miyuki’s bag.

“Not there! Higher!” “Yes!” “Harder..! Another one!” “Yes!” “Again!”

“That Miyuki… She’s forgotten about looking for the Pretty Cure.”

The girls are very content, having finished their training.

Elsewhere, Wolfrun floats around, his arms crossed, spying on them. “As the sun sinks under the horizon, a pitch-black Bad End follows shortly after.” Now he’s got an idea.

The next day, there’s another volleyball game.

“Akane!!” Miyuki begins to cheer. “Do your best!”

So does Reika. “Hooray-hooray, Hino-san!!”

Akane gives them a thumbs-up. Cue brief staring between Akane and Yuka. The ball is thrown up. Once it’s passed to Akane via serves, she jumps up and spikes it, going all-out like usual. The scene is shown three times, in three various ankles.

The ball bounces away, and Akane jumps down, confident in herself. “Alright!”

Miyuki flaps her arms about, cheering loudly. “That’s great, Akane!!” As she does that, Candy pops out again.

What nobody knows is that… a certain bluish-purple wolf in leather clothing stands near the area. “Those humans… The stronger their dreams burn with hope, the more Bad Energy is released when they’re crushed!”

He gets his book, about to create an unhappy ending. “The world! Be stained with the worst possible ending..”

Bye-bye, small tube of black paint. “..a Bad End! I’ll blot out the pages where your future will be written!” SMEAR!!

The sky becomes dark again, just like before. Everyone has fallen under the spell, hopeless. “This is the worst possible ending…”

…And now Akane’s been affected. Again! “I’ve lost all of my hopes and dreams.”

“What?!” Miyuki and Reika are surprised.

“Wolfrun’s trying to give the world a Bad End~kuru!” says Candy. “For the third time~kuru!”

“Ufufufu.. The Bad Energy from these humans is bringing back Pierrot, the Emperor of Evil!” The Bad End Memory clock strikes 3.

“Miyuki! Become a Pretty Cure and fight~kuru!” requests Candy. Miyuki is…nervous once again.

“Hey, hey… Miyuki-chan, you got this! Don’t listen to him, okay?”

Wolfrun lands on the bleachers, smirking. “There’s nothing so delightful as seeing the face of a human in despair. Just look at that face of despair.”

He turns to a hopeless Akane. “She’s a fool who works so hard when it’s all futile.”

Miyuki runs in front of Akane, shielding her. “It’s not futile! How can you make fun of Akane, my friend who’s working so hard towards her dream? Her family is poor, don’t you get it? I won’t let you get away with this!”

“That’s the spirit~kuru!” Candy flaps her arms. “Now go for it~kuru!”

Miyuki’s Smile Pact opens. Insert Cure Decor. “Ready?”

“Pretty Cure, Smile Charge!”

The small puff from the pact appears. “Go! Go, go, let’s go, Happy!”

After this, cue introduction speech. “Twinkling and shining, a dream come true! Cure Happy! Shall we dance?”

“You show yourself again, Pretty Cure.” Wolfrun grabs an Akanbe nose. “Come out, Akanbe!”

In front of Happy appears a giant volleyball with a face on it! This must be an Akanbe! “Akanbe!”

Happy gets in fighting stance, but one look at the Akanbe changes her determination to nervousness. “Actually… th-this is a bit scary..”

“Do your best~kuru!” calls Candy from the sidelines. “Give everyone back their smiles of hope~kuru!”

“Smiles of hope?” She turns back to her enemy. “I’m pretty scared, but I’ll do my best!”

The Akanbe takes a deep breath and attacks, shooting lots of volleyballs from its mouth. Happy frantically dodges.

“I can’t! I can’t! I just can’t!” After having fallen on her face, the Akanbe shoots a volleyball at her, but she jumps back, her feet landing on the side of the school. This gives her an idea. She jumps from there, propelling herself towards her enemy in an attempt to kick him, which works. The Akanbe falls back.

“What a kick!” Happy is surprised by her own strength.

“Cleanse it with Happy Shower~kuru!” says Candy, sitting in Happy’s schoolbag on Reika’s lap.

“Wait, how do I do that again?” It seems Happy’s forgotten how to perform her own attack.

“Use your Smile Pact~kuru!”

“That’s right!” Happy starts gathering spirit. “Spirit, spirit, spirit, SPIRIT..!”

Her Pact explodes in bright pink light. “Pretty Cure!” Attack time. “Cinderella Shower!”

The attack…misses. The beam of light ends up flying away, catching the Akanbe’s attention. “Akan?”

“No way!” Happy gets dejected. “I missed! Happuppu.. I’m exhausted.” She falls to the ground.

“Don’t give up, do it again~kuru!” Candy, having gotten out of the bag, slides over to her.

“Do it again? What choice have I got?” Happy performs her attack again. “Pretty Cure! Cinderella…Shower!”

Only a small blast of pink light emerges from her hands. She and Candy start panicking. “Could it be that you can only do it once per transformation~kuru?”

Happy turns to her. “No one told me that!!”

“Maybe it’ll go down if you kick it some more?” asks Reika.

“I-I can try…!!” The Akanbe tries to punch Happy, but she shields herself from it. It uses its other hand to scoop her up.

“Miyuki-chan(~kuru)!!” The other two call out, frightened.

Akane, having heard what’s going on, turns around to see what’s going on.

Wolfrun appears near Happy. “Is that all you got, brat? It’s only a matter of time until you burst into tears!”

“Th-This isn’t enough to make me cry..!” Tears are forming in Happy’s eyes. “And if that happens, my happiness would disappear!” She puts on a fake smile. “Smile, smile…!” He finds that pathetic.

“Smile..” mutters Akane, remembering back to when Miyuki chatted with her the previous day.

“When you cry, your happiness disappears! Smile, smile!”

“Miyuki…?” This causes Akane to wake up from the spell. “Wh-What’s going on?” She looks up to see her childhood friend in the hand of a giant volleyball.

“Whoa, what’s that giant volleyball doing here?! Wait, does it have..Miyuki?!”

“Y-Yes..!” says Happy, kind of struggling to breathe. “Right now, though, I’m Cure Happy!”

“Oh, I forgot!” Akane says before panicking. “Happy, why’s that volleyball got you?! What in the world is going on?!”

“C’mon, Akane.. run away..!!”

“Who do we have here?” Wolfrun teleports to her.

“A talking wolf in a onesie!” That remark of Akane’s seems to annoy him. She backs up.

“Run, Akane!” says Happy, once again.

“You said she’s your friend, didn’t you?” Wolfrun points to Akane. “How pathetic.. ‘Friends’ and ‘hard work’… There’s no need for any of that in the world we’re making.”

“Well, your world must stink, then!” Oh, nice burn, Happy.

“Oh?”

“In fun times, in happy times… things are much better with friends! They’re there for you when the going gets tough. Friendship really matters, whether you like it or not!”

After yet another flashback of her and Miyuki’s chat, Akane decides to do something.

“So basically, you’re just a wimp who can’t do anything without your friends to help you.” Wolfrun sends Akanbe to finish Happy off, and it tries to do that, until..

Someone throws a volleyball at it! It’s Akane!

“What are you trying to do?” Welp, the fleabag is annoyed.

“What do you think you’re doing,” says Akane, mad, “to my childhood friend?” She charges, about to do another thing.

“Hino-san!!” Candy and Reika, both worried, wonder what she’s about to do.

“Akane..! Just stay away…!!” It doesn’t seem like Akane can hear Happy. She grabs the Akanbe’s foot, trying to knock it over. “Miyuki…has always cheered me on! Now it’s my time to help her!”

“What’s the point in saving a weakling like her?” comments Wolfrun.

“A ‘weakling’?” Akane turns to Wolfrun, even madder. “Are you making fun of my friend again?! I won’t let ya get away with this!”

The monster lifts its foot to try and shake her off.

“You really believe a human can beat an Akanbe?”

“You really think…” Akane screams. “…that matters?”

There’s an explosion of orange fire, knocking the Akanbe back, and releasing Happy from its grasp.

Akane is enveloped in a bright orange atmosphere, with no idea of what’s going on.

A Smile Pact appears in front of her, like with Miyuki a few days ago. “What’s this?”

Candy leaps into her arms, excited. “You’re the second Pretty Cure~kuru!”

“Wha—! The plushie talked! Wait, what? ‘CurePre’? Y’mean like what Miyuki was talking about?!”

“Pretty Cure are legendary warriors who defend the world from evil~kuru!”

“Uhh… ‘legendary warriors’?”

Candy floats back. “That’s right, now transform~kuru!”

“Transform? How, though?!”

“Put the Smile Pact together with a Cure Décor,” explains Candy, “and say ‘Pretty Cure, Smile Charge!’ Ready?”

“I..don’t really understand.” Akane’s confusion disappears. “But I’ll give it a shot!”

Insert Cure Decor. “Ready?”

Akane’s barrette glow a bright orange. “Pretty Cure, Smile Charge!”

“Go! Go, go, let’s go, Sunny!” Akane grabs the small puff from the pact, starting her transformation. She snaps her fingers, holding the puff to her chest and spinning around, enveloped in fire.

BURN!! First, her bracelets are created..

BURN!! ..then, her high heels/sandals.

BURN!! And now her clothes - reminiscent of a princess from the Arabian Nights tales, with a Pretty Cure touch.

A gold headdress with a ruby on the bottom appears in front of her. She puts it on, and in a burst of flames, her hair lengthens and ties into a ponytail, and is now bright orange. She also gets a pair of earrings.

Tap-tap! After applying blush, Akane - now a Pretty Cure - floats down with a front flip, her sandals glittering.

“The dazzling, adventurous sun..” She balls her hand into a fist, then does a punching motion. “..hot-blooded power!” She jumps while spinning, then landing on a red and gold flying carpet in a dusky orange background with stars and a crescent moon. “Cure Sunny!” She poses, and a burst of flames cues behind her. “Shining, shimmering, splendid!”

After having transformed, Sunny doesn’t know what to do. Candy jumps up and down, cheering, “She’s here~kuru! I found the next Pretty Cure~kuru!” while Reika applauds. Happy is left in awe. “Whoa, she transformed!”

Even Wolfrun is taken aback. “She can transform, too?”

“Transform?” Sunny looks down, panicking. “What’s this? I really transformed? But wait a sec.. The dazzling sun, Cure Sunny?! That’s totally embarrassing!”

“Akane!” Happy jumps at her, giving her a hug.

“Miyuki..?”

“Cure Sunny’s so cool! ‘Dazzling sun’ suits a passionate girl like you to a T!”

“For real?” Sunny is excited. The scene changes to a sunny sky, as she comes in. “Oh, I guess you’re right. The sun fits a super hero like me perfectly!”

“What are you two on about?” Wolfrun is again annoyed by their stalling.

“Aaah—!” Sunny hides behind Happy. “Wh-What the heck’s that wolf still doing here?”

“That’s Wolfrun,” says Candy, “the Big Bad Wolf, and he’s trying to give the world a Bad End~kuru!”

“..‘Big Bad Wolf’..?” Poor Sunny.

“Ugh, enough of the ‘Big Bad Wolf’! Akanbe, let’s do this!”

The Akanbe stands up and charges, its eyes glowing eerily red. It jumps at the girls, frightening them both. SMASH!!

“Ufufu.. No pity!”

Just then…. Sunny seems to be fine. While Happy’s on the ground, Sunny is strong enough to hold her opponent. “..I don’t know how, but I’m holding it back!”

“Akan!! Akanbe—!” It wants to be free, so Sunny lets it be free…by spinning around and throwing it, showing no signs of getting dizzy. “What are you going ‘Akanbe’ about?”

The Akanbe seems to be getting dizzy, though. With full force, Sunny throws it at the bleachers, taking Wolfrun and Reika by surprise… “What?!”

…and exciting Happy. “Sunny! That’s amazing!”

Sunny looks at her hands in awe. “A Pretty Cure’s power is pretty amazing…”

“Cleanse it with Sentoichi Fire~kuru!” Candy jumps up, super excited, waving her arms about.

“What’s that?”

“Put your spirit into the Smile Pact~kuru!”

“I still don’t get that, but.. I’ll do it!” She does a masculine stance, gathering spirit into her Pact. “Huh?! It’s sucking up power!”

“Sunny!” Happy slides in. “Keep going, keep going!”

So does Reika. “You got this, Sunny-san! Go for it!”

After gathering enough energy, Sunny screams, and her Pact explodes into fire, as a fireball appears in the sky.

“Wh-Whoa, I just shot a fireball!! How did I do that?!”

As Reika stares at it in awe, Happy calls out to her. “Sunny! Remember that extra training we did together!”

Of course she remembers. “Oh, right!” Attack time.

“Pretty Cure! Sentoichi…” After jumping into the air, Sunny does a spin, blasting the fireball at the Akanbe as if doing a volleyball strike. “…Fire!”

The Akanbe is enveloped in a bowl of fire, its nose having disintegrated…

“What the…? Did I get it?” Sunny falls to the ground. “I’m totally worn out…”

Happy jumps on her, excitedly. “Sunny! I’m so glad you’re a Pretty Cure!”

“I still don’t have a clue what’s going on!”

A small pink bunny with a blue bow falls from the sky and lands in Sunny’s hands. This must be another Cure Décor. “What’s this?”

Candy walks up to her. “A Cure Décor~kuru!”

“Ugh, those Pretty Cure, they just keep on coming! I’ll beat you next time!” Wolfrun nopes out, and the sky goes back to its usual state, albeit sunset-y. Everyone wakes up, with no idea what happened.

Miyuki, Reika, and Akane sit on the side of the field. “I’m so glad everyone’s back to normal!” Intrigued, Akane holds up the Rabbit Décor. “And what about this…?”

“The third Cure Décor~kuru,” says Candy. “I want you and the other three to collect them and save my world~kuru!”

“I still don’t know what ya mean,” Akane grins. “but sure, I’ll join you!” She rubs Candy’s head, smiling. “Even if you’re a little lost sheep, I can’t just leave you alone!”

“I’m no sheep!” Candy really doesn’t like being called that, does she..

“As for you…” Akane turns to Reika. “Call me Akane, you’ve earned it!” She gives her a thumbs-up and wink.

“Akane-chan..” Reika nods and winks back. “Got it!”

“Being a Pretty Cure with you, Akane,” says Miyuki, “makes me ultra-happy!”

“Why wouldn’t it?” asks Akane. “We’re childhood friends, of course!” She scratches her cheek. “Wait, what did she mean ‘other three’..? I know there’s like, two of us, but…”

“We still need to find the other two Cures!” Miyuki nods. “You up for it?”

“Of course!” Akane stands up, offering Miyuki and Reika her hands. “Let’s stick together, girls!”

“Of course!” The duo takes them and stands up, saying at the same time, “Let’s stick together, Akane(-san)!”

Candy’s eyes widen, seeing her friends so happy. “Maybe it’s the kids who care about their friends who are destined to become Pretty Cure~kuru!” The scene pans up to a view of the sky as she speaks.
