I Loved You Like The Sun (what if Rezaren had a younger biological sister)

Summary:

This is DA:A told from the point of view of Vega Ammosine, Rezaren’s younger sister whom I created for the sole purpose of having someone talk some well deserved reason into him the hard way. These scenes take place in between the canon, but here’s some background for her:
-4 years younger
-Elemental mage but didn’t generate magic until she was 15. Can only use fire as opposed to both fire and ice due to this, and her mother despised her and made her a slave for three years until she died and Rezaren (when he was nice) said nope I’m teaching you magic
-Plays the organ during services
-Would be voiced by Mae Whitman
I hope you enjoy this and if there are any mistakes with the lore then please let me know in the comments :)

Chapter 1: Episode 2

Chapter Text

Vega rushed down the steps to the vault. She liked the darkness, and the mystery. Much to her disappointment, she had never been allowed there, but could leave it up to her imagination to decide what it was like.

At a considerable distance from the door, she stopped. Rezaren and Tassia should not take long. After all, they should be well aware they had a service to attend to. Leaning against the wall, Vega stared, fingers fiddling to the rhythm of her organ pieces.

“It’s still better than singing the Chant of Light. Again”.

That was Rezaren. They were close.

Now in Vega’s view, he went from calmed to shocked in seconds. Tassia looked equally as surprised but said nothing.

“Vega, what are you-“ he stopped before sounding even more indignant, but it all stemmed from care.

“You’re not supposed to be down here!”.

Vega stopped leaning against the wall. “The real danger’s inside the vault” she stated. “I know very well not to go inside it. Besides, I thought I’d wait for you two”.

Rezaren sighed in relief, his concern dissipating. Of course he could trust her.

“That’s true” he replied. “But is this your way to tell us we’re late?”

“No, of course not! You will arrive at the chapel just in time”.

“Glad to hear that” replied Rezaren. “You have your pieces ready, right?”.

“Yes” Vega replied as if it was the most obvious. “I wouldn’t have left the chapel if they weren’t”.

Classic Rezaren, always looking out for Vega. It was escalating to the point of being overbearing, but she’d grown accustomed to it.

She wouldn’t change it for the world.

She edged her head to the right, noticing Tassia right at Rezaren’s side.

“Hello, Tassia”, she said with a smile.

“Hello”.

This response was followed by a small smile as well. Vega was now starting to read the Knight Commander properly, and found out this was just one of her many personality traits - an indication she was warming up to her.

“In that case”, Rezaren eyed Tassia, “we should be on our way”.

“Indeed” said Vega. Tassia just nodded.

“So tell me, what crazy stuff did you find inside?” Vega asked as they went up the steps.

“Information on the Circulum” Rezaren started. “Unfortunately, the spirit we asked fought us”.

“After you provoked him. Which led to the fight” Tassia countered.

“Rezaren!” Vega’s head immediately spun to her brother’s. “You know very well not to do that! It could’ve gotten you both killed!”.

“But it didn’t” he replied. “Tassia and I are both very capable fighters. It was expected we’d take it down!”.

True. Both of them walking up the steps next to them was all the proof she needed. Sometimes she just could not underestimate Rezaren and Tassia, no matter how much she cared.

Vega sighed, defeated. “You have a point. Be careful, though. The more years that have passed, the harder you’ve had to try”.

She put a hand on her brother’s shoulder, but her face darkened as she looked down.

“Don’t worry” Rezaren said, making Vega look up. “I won’t try hard for longer”.

Again, a sign of trust. One that brought a smile of reassurance to Vega’s face.

“If you two are done catching up, I suggest we quicken our pace” Tassia interjected. “Especially you, Vega. You need to introduce the service”.

Rezaren shot her a suspicious narrowing of eyes. Vega only chuckled sheepishly, know full well that Tassia was correct.

“You’re right”. She flashed her a smile. “Let’s speed up”.

They kept walking until they reached the chant room.
