Disclaimer: I don't own anything. This is just a story for fun.

Long ago , there was only their were only cosmic beings and the ocean until one day, the mother island emerged from the sea. Her name was Te Fiti. She had a heart that held the greatest power ever known. It could create life itself. Te Fiti shared this power with the world creating many great creatures that inhabited the land and the sea. She created the humans that lived on the islands and sailed the ocean on boats, mermaids who were beautiful, kind, and playful, and the krakens who were powerful gentle beings with some being capable of turning into powerful giants. The mermaids and krakens possessed many magical abilities. These creations inspire the other cosmic beings into creating various creatures and beings of their own that inhabited the world.

For many years there was harmony among the inhabitants, especially Te Fiti's creations. The mermaids and krakens got along very well and worked together to serve as protectors and champions of the sea. But in time, some beings to seek Te Fiti's heart despite it being protected by the goddess and her mermaid and kraken creations. Those who sought the heart believed that they could possess the great power of creation and would be able to shape the world as they pleased.

And one day, the most daring of them all voyaged across the vast ocean to take it. He was a Demigod of the wind and sea. He was a warrior. A trickster. A shapeshifter who could change form with the power of his magical fish hook granted to him by the gods. And his name was Maui. Using both his powers, skills and knowledge, Maui snuck by the mermaids and krakens, until he reached Te Fiti and claimed the heart. But without her heart, Te Fiti began to crumble, giving birth to a terrible darkness. Maui tried to escape by turning into a great giant eagle, but was confronted by another who sought the heart: Te Kā, a destructive demon of earth and fire. Maui was struck from the sky by Te Kā hitting the ocean losing both his magical fish hook and the heart of Te Fiti, which were lost to the sea.

The loss of the heart and Te Fiti hit the mermaids and krakens hard. They desperately searched for the heart, but could not find it. The failed search and Te Kā's dark influence created a rift between the mermaids and krakens, who blamed each other for the theft and the loss of the heart. The two races that had once been dear friends and allies became enemies and fought against each other. Things only got worse as Te Kā took command and control of the various monsters that inhabited the ocean and land and sent them to attack the mermaids and krakens as well as search for the heart. Then Te Kā's evil influence unearthed a powerful weapon previously owned by a cosmic being known as Oceanus. The Trident of Oceanus. The mermaids found the trident and the queen of the mermaids used it's terrible powers against the Krakens and nearly wiped out the ones that were capable of becoming giants driving a greater rift between the two races. It was truly a time of tragedy and darkness.

Te Kā's influence slowly spread through the ocean and islands corrupting and killing as she and her minions searched for the heart with no one able to oppose them. As time went on most of the humans lost faith and knowledge in Te Fiti, the mermaids, krakens, and the other creatures thinking of them as no more then legends as they lived peacefully on their islands, though a few elders still believed in them and they shared this belief with the younger generations and those willing to listen. The mermaids and the krakens all, but forgot about their past history and friendship with each other as they setup their own separate kingdoms and lived separate lives as they continued their own searches for the heart.

Little did anyone know was that a human, a mermaid, and a kraken were about to become entangled in each other's lives and that this trio was going to restore the heart and peace to the world.

Chapter 2 Three Women

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. This is just a story for fun.

(Author's Note: Chelsea and Nerissa will be introduced in this chapter and they will be two separate characters.)

There was an island in the South Pacific called Motunui and it was home to a tribe of humans who had lived there for nearly a thousand years. The tribe were the descendants of voyagers who had settled on Motunui and had been living their even since. They lived off the vegetation of the island and caught fish from the sea. It was a simple and happy life and the tribe was content with it. The elders of the past had been weary of the sea and all the dangers lurking beneath it, so they had established a law that forbade anyone from crossing the island's barrier reef that surrounded it. The villagers obeyed this law and had no curiosity about what laid beyond their island home, all except one young teenage girl.

Moana Waialiki the daughter of the current chief of her tribe sat on a large rock and looked out at the ocean. She had a slender yet muscular build, brown eyes with thick eyebrows and eyelashes, full brownish-pink lips, and long, wavy, black hair she wore down. Moana wore clothes that were made from resources found on Motunui such as Tapa, Pandanus, leaves, feathers, and other natural resources. The outfit Moana currently wore was a crop top made out of red Tapa with a layered style accessorized with seashells along the perimeter. A red sash made from the same material that wrapped around her skirt made out of shredded Pandanas and layered Tapa, with a slit for mobility purposes.

Moana looked out at the sea and wondered what lies out there she had heard the old stories from her grandmother, Gramma Tala about Te Fiti, the mermaids, the krakens, and all the other creatures that dwelled out in the ocean. Many of the villagers believed that the stories were nothing more then legends, but Moana felt differently about them. She believed that they were real and she told Gramma Tala who smiled at her and told her she believed in the legends as well. Gramma Tala also told Moana that she had a desire to one day go out and explore the sea to adventure, like their ancestors of old.

Moana so baldy wanted to go out past the reef and explore, but her father had forbid it. She cast one last longing look at the ocean before standing up and headed back to the village.

Several miles under the sea there was a massive rock structure that resembled a mass of tentacles with lights that served as the kingdom and palace for the kraken people. There were two types of krakens the regular humanoid ones that were roughly the same size as humans that were male and females and the giant female krakens that served as royals and leaders.

One of the royals was currently making her way to the throne room to visit the current Queen. That royal's name was Ruby, she was sixteen years old, and the granddaughter of the Queen. Ruby was roughly 300 feet tall with glowing purple skin with small spots all around her body, 5 tentacles with 4 fingers (three of the tentacles served as legs, while the other two served as arms). She had purple eyes and long purple tentacle hair.

Ruby was one of the last giant krakens in the sea and was learning about her people's history and training to use her powers from her grandmother, who liked to be called Grandmamah. She would have tried to take lessons from her mother Agatha, but she had abandoned her post in the royals and had a feud and falling out with Grandmamah before Ruby's birth and the two hadn't spoken or seen each other since. Agatha had taken her husband and they had lived on dry land. Agatha had turned into her shrunken humanoid form and the family had remain on land, until Ruby was old enough to be told about her family heritage. Ruby had mixed feelings about her heritage of being both a giant kraken and being a princess. She wanted to know more about her heritage and Agatha didn't seem to want to talk about, but Ruby's uncle Brill who sometimes visited the family suggested Ruby go to the kraken kingdom and see Grandmamah.

Ruby did just that and Grandmamah was thrilled by her granddaughter coming to her to learn from her. Grandmamah believed Ruby had what it took to lead the krakens against the mermaids and other sea monsters and maybe find the heart of Te Fiti. Ruby wasn't really comfortable with those big expectations.

Ruby swam through the halls past the humanoid krakens who either wore no clothes or makeshift clothes made from seaweed and algae. They waved and greeted Ruby as she passed by. Ruby reached the throne room and was greeted by Grandmamah.

Grandmamah was a bigger kraken with glowing green skin, 8 tentacles (2 arms and 6 legs) with 4 fingers on each, shoulder pads, and long tentacle hair that stuck upwards. Around her head was a gold and green tiara.

"Ruby!" Said Grandmamah as she got up from her throne to embrace her granddaughter.

"Hey Grandmamah." Said Ruby as she returned the hug.

"You ready for another lesson?" Said Grandmamah as she stopped hugging Ruby and lead her to another chamber.

"I am." Said Ruby.

"Great. As I've already our people were created by the great Te Fiti and we protected the sea, the humans, and the heart of Te Fiti. All was good and we defeated many threats. It was a golden age, until that thieving demigod Maui with the aid of those no good mermaids stole the heart and brought ruin to us!" Said Grandmamah as she and Ruby entered a chamber filled with carvings and statues.

The statues were of various sea monsters and creatures. One statue was a monstrous looking muscular man with a hook that must have been Maui and another statue depicted three monstrous looking mermaids.

"But weren't the mermaids our allies who guarded the heart as well?" Asked Ruby.

"They were, until they aided Maui in stealing the heart, refused to take responsibility, and blamed our people for the theft. We've been at war with them and Te Kā's forces ever since as we searched for the heart." Said Grandmamah.

"Mom thinks the war with the mermaids was a bad idea. She said it's the reason why there are only three giant krakens left." Said Ruby.

"The war admittedly didn't go our way for a while, but that was only due to the Trident of Oceanus. The mermaids may have caught us by surprise, but we will beat them in the end and you will help lead us to that day and maybe your mother will join us to see it through." Said Grandmamah.

"I don't know if I want to go to war." Said Ruby.

"I know it's tough, but this is your calling. The ocean needs you to help restore balance. We can't let the mermaids win." Said Grandmamah.

"I hear....you, but there's got to be another way to end it." Said Ruby.

"Only the heart can fix all of this." Said Grandmamah pointing at some murals of mermaids and krakens fighting.

"I guess it could." Said Ruby.

After some lessons Ruby left the palace and headed to her island home. As she reached land Ruby began to shrink and change into her more humanoid form. Ruby aquamarine skin, dark blue shoulder-length tentacle hair, and vibrant turquoise eyes. She wore a green crop top made of seaweed and a Pandana skirt dyed purple from coral. Ruby cast one look at the sea and wondered what the future held for her before heading inland to her home.

In another part of the ocean there was a large rock formation that resembled several fish fins that served as the mermaid kingdom. Mermaids were roughly the same size as humans. Out in the courtyard, the mermaid princess, Chelsea was training with her trident as her mother the mermaid queen, Nerissa watched her. Chelsea was was sixteen with a tall, slender build, with beautiful fair-skinned, pale blue eyes, fluttery-like eyelashes, thin brown eyebrows, and long, silky, wavy knee-length red hair. She had a turquoise mermaid tail with dark orange spikes and fin tips and wore a blue crop top that exposed her midriff.

Nerissa looked a lot like her daughter, though she was older looking, her hair was shorter and less wavy and she wore a dark red crop top and a gold tiara on her head.

Chelsea's trident was gold and Nerissa's trident, which was the Trident of Oceanus was black metallic with green swirls running all along it. Chelsea didn't like the Trident of Oceanus, it gave her a weird vibe and was incredibly dangerous.

Chelsea practiced swimming around and practiced a few practice thrusts with her trident, before Nerissa signaled to some mermaid servants to to raise some hollow wooden dummies that were made to look like krakens.

"Take them out." Said Nerissa.

Chelsea fired a golden beam of energy from her trident that destroyed the targets. Nerissa was pleased.

"Very good. When next we battle with the krakens or any other sea monsters, you will be ready. We shall destroy the krakens and then we can focus on finding the heart and restoring balance." Said Nerissa.

"Cool, um don't you think it would be better for our people if we made peace with the krakens and searched for the heart together. I sure we could find it quicker if we workers together." Said Chelsea.

"Make peace and work together with the krakens? Don't be absurd Chelsea! The krakens are our enemy! They're the ones who aided that thief Maui who stole the heart and caused the chaos to begin with! The krakens refused to take responsibility for their actions and attacked us! We must destroy them at all cost to protect our people! Is that understood?" Said Nerissa getting into Chelsea's face as her trident glowed eerily.

"Yes.....mother." Said Chelsea bowing her head.

"Good. I know it's tough, but this is for the best." Said Nerissa before turning around and swimming off.

Chelsea just sighed and decided to go out for a swim.

Little did any of the three women know was that their lives were going to take some interesting turns.

Chapter 3 Past Trauma

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. This is just a story for fun.

The island of Motunui and it's people were living a peaceful exist, but things started to go wrong in paradise. First their were the fish shortages. The fishers of the trip used to catch large abundances of fish for the tribe, but now they were catching fewer and fewer fish. The other issue were the crops and plants that were normally harvested. The fruits used to fresh and delicious when harvested, but now they were becoming rotten and disgusting. Not all the area where the crops were grown were affected, but it was becoming very concerning to the tribe. It was like Motunui itself had become poisoned.

Gramma Tala saw this as a omen saying that Te Kā's dark influence had caught up to Motunui and the tribe. Chief Tui, the son of Tala and the father of Moana dismissed these claims and signs as nothing more then simple bad luck, along with most of the tribe. Moana on the other hand felt there was truth with what Tala was saying. Chief Tui and the tribe met to discuss solutions to their problems and Moana suggested that the tribe's fishing boats should go past the reef that surrounded the island to try and catch more fish, but Chief Tui quickly dismissed the idea angrily saying no one was going past the reef.

This both angered and upset Moana who wondered what the big deal was. Moana's mother Sina told her daughter a story about Tui's youth explaining his decision and opinion on the ocean. When Tui had been Moana's age he found himself drawn to the seas and the desire to explore it. One night, Tui and his best friend took a canoe out into the ocean, and successfully crossed Motunui's barrier reef. Upon doing so, however, the two were struck by rough waves that destroyed their vessel. Tui survived the ordeal, but his best friend was lost to the sea, having drowned. Consumed by his heartache and guilt, Tui became aquaphobic, and vowed to never again disobey the ancient law of his ancestors. Tui didn't want to see anyone close to him or any of his fellow villagers suffer the same fate as his best friend.

The explanation stunned Moana and it did allow her to see where her father was coming from, but she still wanted to venture out and she believed by doing so, she could help both her people and her island. Moana shared these feelings with Tala who smiled fondly at her granddaughter's passion and spirit saying it would serve her well.

In the Mermaid Kingdom Chelsea was with her mother Nerissa going through a hall decorated with statues of past mermaid rulers. Nerissa was giving her daughter a little history lesson about the past rulers, before stopping in front of a statue of her mother, Queen Mersea.

"My mother, Queen Mersea was a brave and powerful ruler, but she was brought down due to be trusting." Said Nerissa.

"What happened?" Asked Chelsea.

"She was approached by Princess Agatha of the Kraken Kingdom, who said she wished to have my mother meet with the Kraken Queen to talk and establish peace between our two races and work together finding Maui, locating the heart, and returning it to Te Fiti to restore balance to the world. My mother agreed to the meeting." Said Nerissa.

"That sounds nice and well meaning." Said Chelsea.

"It does and my mother thought the same thing, but it was nothing more then lies to lure my mother, me, and several of our high ranked mermaids into a trap to end us." Said Nerissa.

"What do you mean?" Asked Chelsea not liking where this was going.

"We met the Kraken Queen, Agatha, and a few of the other remaining giant krakens at the time at a neutral area to discuss a peace treaty. As we talked my mother had set the Trident of Oceanus down. The Kraken Queen attempted to steal the trident and claim it's power for herself and the krakens. My mother managed to quickly get the trident and she and Kraken Queen fought over it, until the Kraken Queen smashed my mother's back into some sharp rocks and killed her!" Said Nerissa.

"No..." Said Chelsea in horror.

"I managed to race in and grab the trident and with it's power I managed to kill all the giant krakens present at the meeting, except for the Kraken Queen and Agatha who escaped. I made a vow that day, that I would avenge my mother and kill all krakens and that's the end of today's lesson. Tell me what you learned from this." Said Nerissa.

"Be careful with who you trust?" Asked Chelsea.

"Yes that and never ever trust a kraken. The only good kraken is a dead kraken." Said Nerissa.

"Yes...mother." Said Chelsea really not liking the last bit of the lesson.

Miles away on a island that Ruby called home, Ruby was sitting down to eat with her family in their hut. There was Ruby's parents Agatha and Arthur and her younger brother Sam.

Agatha was spindly and aquamarine-blue-skinned with cyan-blue eyes, dark purple eyelashes and eyebrows. The tentacles that severed as her hair were two-tone purple tentacle and kept in a top bun with bangs. Agatha had resembling pectoral fins and wore a brown crop top and skirt.

Arthur was a large and aquamarine-blue-skinned kraken with turquoise eyes and the front of his face resembling that of a beard made out of fins and scales. He had ears resembling pectoral fins and wore a straw hat and a brown lavalava.

Sam was short with light aquamarine skin, dark-blue eye-length tentacle hair and turquoise eyes. He wore a brown and red lavalava.

The family enjoyed their meal together and afterwards Ruby decided to ask her mother what the big issue between her and Grandmamah. Agatha first tried to steer away from the issue, but Ruby persisted, until Agatha gave in and explained what the issue was.

"Before I was married, I tried to help make peace with the mermaids. I made it into the their territory and I reached out to Queen Mersea. I told her I wanted peace between our two races and we should stop fighting and work together to find the heart to bring balance to the world. She agreed and we worked out a meeting spot. My mother wasn't thrilled by the idea of making peace, but she agreed to the meeting. We met the Mersea, her daughter Nerissa, and a few other high ranked mermaids. We were accompanied by the other giant krakens and everything was going smoothly, until Grandmamah tried to steal the Trident of Oceanus. A fight ended up breaking out and Grandmamah killed Mersea! Nerissa was filled with rage as she took the trident and began killing the giant krakens! I managed to grab Grandmamah and escape, but the chance of peace were utterly ruin thanks to Grandmamah's ego and her hate towards the mermaids." Explained Agatha shivering at the bad memory.

"I didn't know." Said Ruby looking shocked and sad.

"After that I left the Kraken Kingdom and started a new life for myself and us. I was just done with all the fighting and Grandmamah." Said Agatha.

"You...think there's anyway to make peace with the mermaids after all that?" Asked Ruby.

"I don't know. Nerissa has it out for our people and I really can't blame her after what happened with her mother." Said Agatha.

Ruby didn't know how to respond. It sounded like a traumatic experience for both sides. Ruby wondered if there was any real chance of making peace with the mermaids or finding the heart to bring balance to the world. It had been a thousand years yet nothing had changed. It seemed like things were going to continue to be the same for another thousand years, but fate had something else in mind.

Chapter 4 Island Getaway

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. This is just a story for fun.

After hearing about the disastrous peace treaty fail from her mother, Ruby decided to see her grandma and get her side about what happened that day. Ruby desperately held up a tiny shred hope that Grandmamah had a reason for what she did other then hating mermaids and wanting the power of the Trident of Oceanus. She arrived at the palace and headed to the throne room, where Grandmamah. The Kraken Queen smiled at her granddaughter, but the smile vanished as she saw the serious expression on Ruby's face.

"Mom told me what you did at that peace treaty with the mermaids all those years. Please tell me you had some legitimate reason for doing what you did other then simply hating mermaids and desiring the power of the Trident of Oceanus." Said Ruby.

"Ruby what...I tried to back then was take the mermaid's most power weapon away from them so they couldn't pose such a threat to us. I knew they wouldn't just hand the trident over to us or get rid of it, so I had to take a change and try and take it to protect our people." Said Grandmamah.

"Yeah that didn't exactly work well for our people and your actions ruined any chance to make peace with the mermaids." Said Ruby with a bit of anger in her voice as she glared at Grandmamah.

"I...made a mistake and our people paid a price for it. But I promise you I will make it right and get that trident and put a end to the threat to our family and people." Said Grandmamah looking determined.

"Your solution is more violence? That'll just make things worse!" Said Ruby throwing her hands up before she turned away and swam away in a huff.

"Ruby!" Called Grandmamah after her granddaughter, but Ruby just ignored her.

Ruby swam away from the palace angry about the whole situation. Now she understood why her mother was still angry with grandma all these years. Grandmamah's solution to the problem she had created with her violent actions was more violence! That would just lead to more bloodshed and death between the krakens and mermaids! Ruby couldn't blame Nerissa and the mermaids for being mad at the krakens after what Grandmamah had done. Ruby was mad to and she felt sorry for both the mermaids and her mother. Agatha had taken a great risk all those years ago to try to bring peace between the krakens and the mermaids only to have it ruined in front of her eyes and witness the deaths of her fellow giant krakens.

Ruby swam with no real destination in mind. She swam and swam, until she decided to surface and get some bearings on her surroundings. Ruby saw a small island and decided to head over to it and rest for a bit. As Ruby reached the shallows and shore she began to shrink down to her more humanoid form. Ruby was fully back to her humanoid form as she stepped onto the shore of the island and she walked a little ways before stopping to lay down on the beach to look up at the sky and rest and organize her thoughts.

Ruby wondered if she should try and seek out the mermaid kingdom and see if she could try and reason with the mermaids and get them to agree to another peace treaty, but she really didn't know which direction the mermaid kingdom and she also didn't know if Nerissa or any of the mermaids would listen to her. Nerissa would more then likely just blast the granddaughter of the kraken responsible for her mother's death then listen to her or have Ruby captured and used as bait to lure the krakens into a trap. Ruby just let out a sad sigh. Peace seemed like nothing but a dream. Ruby just laid on the beach for awhile enjoying the sound of the tide. The island was really peaceful and it was a nice little getaway from the troubles of Ruby's home life.

After a while Ruby got up and headed back into the ocean making a mental note of the island's location as she changed back into her giant kraken form and swam off.

Elsewhere Chelsea was out for a swim and like Ruby, she really didn't have a destination. She swam and swam, until she saw a island and it just happened to be the very same island that Ruby had visited. Chelsea swam to the island and, when her fins began to touch the shallows, she used her mermaid magic to change her mermaid tail into a pair of legs and now wore a sparkly-teal-blue Pandana skirt. The now human Chelsea adjusted to her legs and wiggled her toes in the sand before walking onto the beach. Chelsea walked a ways onto the beach, before taking a seat and laid down to look at the sky. The island was a peaceful place away from the troubles of home. No training. No talk of war. Just a nice comfy island getaway.

Chelsea laid on the beach and wondered if she should try to seek the kraken kingdom and try to make peace with the krakens. There was a good chance the Kraken Queen would try to kill Chelsea or trap her and use her as bait for the mermaids. Chelsea just sighed sadly as she sat up and threw a couple of pebble at the water watching them skip across a few times for sinking into the sea.

"I wish I could just meet a kraken and talk to them. Maybe we could be friends and find a way to bring peace between our people." Said Chelsea to herself.

A little bit later Chelsea headed back into the sea and changed her legs back into a mermaid tail. She made a mental note of the island's location before swimming off. Unaware that her wish would come true the next time she visited the island.

Chapter 5 The Encounter

By: Major144

Disclaimer: I don't own anything. This is just a story for fun.

The next day Ruby returned to the island after her lessons and training. Ruby reached the island and changed into her humanoid form and decided to walk around and explore a little. The island was nice and Ruby considered building a little makeshift hut for herself just for fun and giving the island a proper name. Ruby was in the process of picking up some driftwood and a few pretty shells off the beach, when another being arrived to the island and that being was Chelsea.

Chelsea was returning to the island as well to relax, she was transforming her fishtail into legs and was fixing to step on the beach, when she became aware of another individual on the beach with some driftwood and shells in her arms. It was Ruby.

Ruby and Chelsea just stood there staring at one another in shock at the appearance of the other and then both their minds began to register the species of the other. Chelsea realized the strange girl on the beach was a kraken, due to blue skin and tentacle-like hair and Ruby realized the girl before her was a mermaid due to seeing her fishtail turn into legs.

"Mermaid!" Said Ruby dropping the driftwood and shells to point a finger at Chelsea.

"Kraken!" Said Chelsea pointing at Ruby.

Both girls minds then began to race as they tried to think about what they should do in this situation. Ruby wondered if she should try going giant to intimidate the mermaid into running away, or use her eye beams to knock her her back and force her to retreat, or use her camouflage to make herself invisible and fleeing from the scene. Chelsea wondered if she should summon her trident, which was currently disguised as a hair clip in her hair and firing a blast from it at the kraken to make her retreat, use her singing voice to put the kraken in a trance or sleep, release a siren shriek to send the kraken reeling back, or simply change her legs into a fishtail and jump into the ocean and flee.

All these thoughts and scenarios ran through Ruby and Chelsea's heads as they tried to figure out what to do, with a supposed enemy of their species. Then a different thought went through their minds and they asked the same question at the same time.

"What are you doing on my island?"

The question surprised both princesses since it wasn't a question they had been expecting. Ruby and Chelsea blinked their eyes in confusion as they tried to think of what they should say or do. After a few seconds Chelsea spoke.

"Um...can I come ashore? I promise I won't try to attack you or anything." Said Chelsea as she raised her hands in the air showing she wasn't armed or trying to pull anything.

"Ok...you can come ashore. I also promise I won't attack you or anything." Said Ruby.

"Looks like my wish to meet a kraken and talk to them has unexpectedly come true. Let's see where this goes." Thought Chelsea before she walked onto dry land to get closer to Ruby.

"So this is a mermaid." Thought Ruby as Chelsea got onto the beach and stopped a few feet from her.

The kraken and the mermaid just stared at each other for several seconds neither one saying anything as both princesses thought what they should say to the other, while also being careful about what kind of personal info they should give, after all they were both princesses of their respective people and had no clue what the other might do with that information. After a few seconds Ruby decided to speak.

"I am Ruby of the Kraken People." Said Ruby in greeting.

"I am Chelsea of the Mermaid People." Said Chelsea in greeting.

"Nice to meet you, Chelsea. So what are you doing here?" Said Ruby.

"I...came to get away from my people for a bit. They're a bit much at times, especially my family and this island is nice place to relax and unwind." Said Chelsea being honest, but choosing to withhold some information.

Ruby was a bit surprised by this answer, since those were basically the same reasons she chose to come to this island.

"That's funny. I kind...of have the same issues with some of my family as well and I came to this island to get away from it all for while to relax and unwind." Said Ruby.

"Really?" Asked Chelsea.

"Really." Said Ruby.

The two just looked at each other and then they both let out a little laugh as they relaxed.

"My mom is just obsessed with the whole war between our species. It really drives me crazy." Said Chelsea.

"She sounds a bit like my grandmother. She's obsessed with the war too." Said Ruby.

"And I try talking about it with my mom saying that it's dumb and that we should put aside our issues with the krakens and work together to find the heart of Te Fiti and bring balance to the world, but she won't listen." Said Chelsea.

"Same thing with my grandmother! Our ancestors were friends and allies created by Te Fiti and we should work together to find the heart." Said Ruby in agreement.

Both Ruby and Chelsea looked at one another stunned. This was their first meeting with each other's respected species yet despite coming from different backgrounds, they desired the same thing for their people. It was like fate had brought them together.

"You know, you're the first kraken, I've ever met." Said Chelsea.

"And you're the first mermaid, I've ever met." Said Ruby.

"This may sound a little silly, but yesterday I wished that I could met and speak to a kraken and here you are. And you you want the same thing for your people as me. You really get me." Said Chelsea.

"That's not silly at all. I wanted to meet and talk to a mermaid for awhile and here you are. And you really get me as well." Said Ruby.

The two of then sat down on the beach and took in the scenery together. Ruby and Chelsea then just talked and shared little bits about their respective people and culture and as they talked they became more friendlier and more comfortable with each other. It was then Ruby decided to share her royal identity with Chelsea.

"I want to show you something important about myself. It's true I'm a kraken, but I'm not a ordinary kraken." Said Ruby before standing up and walked a few yards away from Chelsea.

Chelsea watched with both confusion and interest as Ruby's skin changed color and she began to grown and change, until she was her full giant kraken form. Ruby looked down at Chelsea and gave a little smile and waved her now giant sized righthand.

"I'm a giant kraken and the princess of the kraken people." Said Ruby.

Chelsea looked up at Ruby in awe at the sight and then she let out a laugh that confused Ruby.

"What's so funny?" Asked Rubby.

"Well, you're not the only princess here. I'm the princess of the mermaids." Said Chelsea.

Ruby's mouth dropped open in shock at this information and she quickly shrunk down to her humanoid form, walked over to Chelsea, and bowed her head to her.

"I'm so sorry for what my grandma did to your grandma." Said Ruby giving a sincere apology.

Chelsea was a little taken aback by this, but quickly recovered.

"Ruby you do not need to apologize for what your grandma did. That was her own doing not yours and neither one of us were born when that happened. I should be apologizing for what my mother did to your people." Said Chelsea.

"You don't need to apologize for that, your mother had a right to be mad about what happened to her mother." Said Ruby.

"You know what, let's stop apologizing for what our parents and grandparents did. We're not them." Said Chelsea.

"Alright. No apologizing for the past actions of our families." Said Ruby.

The two princesses looked at one another.

"So what exactly are the odds that the princess of the krakens and the princess of the mermaids end up on the same island and meet." Said Chelsea.

"Those are pretty high odds. The ocean is a big place, so it's just crazy that we wound up on the same island." Said Ruby.

"Is it as crazy as us wanting the same thing to find the heart and bring balance to the world as well as bring peace between our people." Said Chelsea.

"I suppose that could be looked at as crazy. Our families and people hate each other's species, yet I never felt a ounce of hate to the mermaids. A part of me wanted to make peace with them." Said Ruby.

"A part of me wants to make peace with the krakens." Said Chelsea.

"Looks like we both made a step towards that goal. The two of us made peace and I think we just became friends." Said Ruby.

"I see us as friends as well." Said Chelsea.

"Now we just got to convince our families and people to become friends as well and work together to find the heart of Te Fiti." Said Ruby.

"It could be our first mission as princesses." Said Chelsea with a chuckle.

"Well being a royal is tough." Said Ruby with a chuckle.

It became late and Ruby and Chelsea decided they needed to return to their homes. They made a promise to meet on the island and to discuss how to bring peace between their people. The two princess swam off to their respective homes happy about their new friendship.

To be continued.
