I could distinctly feel my slit pupils narrowing further to focus on what would remain hidden to a human. It was the way he moved, how his steps on the sandy ground were so much quieter than those of his companions. It was the elegance of his movements as he casually brushed a lock of hair from his forehead and then let his hand rest, seemingly by chance, on the hilt of the dagger at his hip. The clear, precise control of his muscles, the skillful flutter of his eyes that he directed at the Tiefling before him to deliberately unsettle him with his looks, in a way so perfect it had to be rehearsed.
An uncomfortable feeling settled in the pit of my stomach. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, followed by goosebumps all over my body. My eyes were fixed on him.
