Chapter Text

Minho’s POV

Minho glances up from his phone as his parents walk through the door, looking like they were about to explode with happiness. “What’s up?” Minho asks, noticing the lack of shopping bags on the butler's arms, which were usually full whenever his parents went out.

“We found the perfect wife for you,” Charlotte, Minho’s mom, squeals excitedly. The lady races over to her son, hugging him as he freezes in shock.

“A… Wife?...” Minho murmurs, staring at his mother as she pulls away.

“Mhm, and here’s what she looks like,” Charlotte pulls out her phone and in a few quick swipes pulls up a picture of the… girl.

Minho takes his moms phone, looking at the person in the photo. “Are you sure that’s a girl, Mom?” He asks, staring at the clearly photo-shopped picture of a dude.

“Yes! Her parents said she was the top of her class, we also set up a date for you and her in two days.” Minho gawks at his mother, stunned.

“You don’t even know if I like her-”

“Oh that doesn’t matter, all you need is a sexy rich heir and to be able to have kids and you’re all set,” His mother interrupts, waving her hand dismissively while resting her other hand on her hip. “Anyway, her name is Isabelle, and she looks stunning, don’t you agree?”

“Mhm…” Minho scrunches his nose up, looking at the supposed ‘Isabelle’ in the photo.

“Well I’m gonna go check on your father,” Charlotte states, bending down and kissing the top of Minho’s head quickly before stalking off to the stairs.

Minho sighs, still staring at the photo.

Hopefully my mom realizes this isn’t a girl soon…

*** (POV change)

Isaac stares into the darkness of his pillow, drowning out the noises of his parents arguing downstairs. “WHY THE ACTUAL FUCK WOULD YOU SAY ISAAC IS A GIRL?” His father, Marcus, shouts at his mom.

“IT WILL GIVE US MORE MONEY, MARCUS!” Jessica screams, and Isaac buries his face more into his pillow.

Isaac had just been sitting on the couch, listening to Ready Player 1 when his mother walked through the door, announcing he’d be going on a date with someone in 2 days…

“Sweetie! Guess what!~”

“Hm?”

“I got you someone to marry!”

“What?-”

“Yeah, his name is Minho! He seems like such a sweetheart-”

“His? Minho? DID YOU SET ME UP WITH A GUY-” Isaac stops as his father slams a glass on the table.

“Isaac. Go upstairs. Now.”...

And now Isaac is- without realizing it- crying into his pillow. He didn’t want to go on a date with a guy, let alone marry him. Isaac sniffles, rubbing his nose before opening his bedside tables drawer, grabbing his earbuds and connecting them to his phone, turning on his music and maxing the volume. His parents arguing muffles slightly. Isaac closes his eyes, humming to the music before drifting to sleep.

Chapter Text

Isaac yelps as his alarm blares in his ears. The boy instantly takes his earbuds out, looking at his phone screen, which has notifications from his, Sadina, and Trish’s group chat constantly appearing. He sighs, opening the texts to see the couple spamming his name;

Sadina: ISAAC
Trish: ISAAC
Sadina: ISAAC
Trish: ISAAC
Sadina: ISAAC
Trish: ISAAC
Sadina: ISAAC

Isaac groans, rubbing his eyes before responding.

You: What?
S adina: We’re at Starbucks, now get your butt over here.
Trish: Yea what she said!
You: I don’t want to.
Trish: Either you get over here yourself or we drag you to Starbucks.

Isaac stares at the screen for a second, sighing.

You: Fine. Omw now.

Isaac pulls himself out of his bed, slumping over to his dresser to grab a quick outfit. The boy digs through his drawers, pulling out a gray t-shirt and a pair of grass-stained, ripped jeans. Isaac ambles over to his bathroom, closing the door behind him as he slips into his new outfit. Isaac stares at himself for a moment before running his hands through his light brown hair. Grabbing the deodorant and quickly putting it on the boy jogs down the stairs, barely stopping to put on his shoes as he races out the door to his car.

He opens the door before pausing and patting his pockets, sighing in relief as he feels his keys. The boy drops down into his car, glancing backwards as he shuts the door and turns on the engine. Isaac puts the car in reverse, backing out of the driveway before steadily driving down the road to Starbucks.

— (Time skip)

The caramel-haired boy pulls into the parking lot, sighing as he unbuckles his seatbelt. Isaac glances into the window to see Sadina and Trish sitting across from each other at a window table, smiling at him. He sighs, opening the door and climbing out, stiffly walking towards the entrance after he closes the car door.

Isaac walks through the entrance, sighing as he collapses onto the chair next to the girls. “Well, how’ve you been?” Sadina chirps.

He rubs his face, sighing, “Not so good to be honest.” The girls look at him in surprise.

“What do you mean?” They question at the same time.

“My parents, well more like my mom, are forcing me to marry someone,” the boy murmurs.

“Oh, what’s her name? Is she pretty?-” Isaac stops Trish by holding up his hand.

“It’s not a she, he’s a boy… And his name is Minho.” The couple look at him in shock as he stares down at his hands.

“I- are you even gay?” Sadina questions, stunned as she watches Isaac shake his head.

“No- at least I don’t think I am,” Isaac says, his eyes soft and vulnerable as he looks at the girls.

“Well, they can’t force you to-”

“That’s the thing! Our date is tomorrow-” Isaac chokes back a sob, covering his face with his hands.

“So, it’s a date with your future husband?-” Trish wonders, yelping as Sadina kicks her from under the table. Isaac nods lightly, sniffling.

“Hey, why don’t we go shopping for clothes?” Sadina suggests, and the younger boy and her girlfriend agree.

*** (POV change)

Minho stares at himself in the mirror, frowning at the suit. He’d rather wear something casual, considering ‘Isabelle’ is obviously a dude. “Aw my sweet boy looks so handsome!” Charlotte exclaims, her voice smooth as honey, like how you’d talk to a baby. The lady claps her hands together excitedly.

“Hey ma, are you sure we can’t just… go to the movies or something?-”

“Ah, no! I doubt she’d like anything you watch, and I doubt you’d like anything she watches. This dinner is a better idea!” Charlotte squeaks. Minho sighs and shrugs the jacket off.

“Well, it fits.” Minho states flatly, throwing the jacket on his bed and stalking over to his gaming chair, collapsing into it and pulling on his headphones.

Charlotte waves her hand, “You kids and your video games, fine, whatever. I’m gonna go to Target.” And with that the boy's mother stalks out of the room, her heels clacking on the marble floors.

Minho logs onto Rocket League, frowning as he sees Blacksmith isn’t on. The boy sighs.

Maybe he’ll be on later?

He thinks, clicking the play button, holding onto that hope.
