Chapter Text

“High School is just so scary to think about!!” Pest said with his head lowered, he was nervously fidgeting with hands. Poob was laughing and rubbing his back.

”Don’t worry, we’re gonna be fine!” Poob reassured him, he pushed Pest past the gate and watched as he struggled to not fall down from the sudden push.

”Hey!! Don’t just suddenly push me!” Pest protested, he pouted and made a little hmf sound. Poob couldn’t help but laugh a little harder at his stupid friend.

”If I didn’t push you, you would’ve stood there until the entrance ceremony was over. Speaking of which… we better hurry and get going!” Poob told him, the grabbed Pest’s arm and dragged him towards the gym for the entrance ceremony.

”Here, an available seat for the both of us!” Poob said, he smiled at Pest, causing him to blush a little.

“Yeah yeah… thanks.” Pest muttered, he sat in his seat and Poob followed. Then, right next to Pest’s ear, a loud squeal came from the person sitting next to him.

”Scag!!” They said, they rapidly stomped their feet on the ground.

”The one and only!” The other person said, they seemed to be on a cart, as they had no legs.

That’s two weird people already… I’ll stay away for now. Pest thought to himself, he rolled his eyes and tried to relax.

But more noise came from everywhere.

”Meow meow! (Hey sugar! How have you been?)” Someone spoke from behind Pest and Poob, they were wearing a pure white lab coat over their school uniform instead of the cardigan that was provided to all students.

“I’ve been good! More people have been attending my tea parties!” The person next to them said, tea parties sounded very… VERY familiar to Pest. But he couldn’t put his finger on it.

”Mrreow meow meoww! (Well, I’ll be sure to attend soon!)” said the girl in the labcoat. She had a big smile on her face, then she turned to Pest after noticing him looking at the two. Pest quickly turned his head away.

Something about that cat is familiar, eugh, what an embarrassing feeling. Pest thought to himself yet again, he looked at Poob and sighed.

”What’s up?” Poob said, still smiling from earlier.

”You keep smiling and you’ll get lock jaw.” Pest mumbled loud enough for Poob to hear. Poob rubbed his cheeks and laughed.

”Just excited…” Poob mumbled back.

”Hi everyoneee!! Welcome back to a new year at Regretevator High School!” A voice from behind the curtains called out, the crowd cheered, except for Pest and Poob.

”The hell, it’s starting already?” Pest asked.

”Apparently… just a minute early.” Poob chuckled, he sat up straight and listened.

“If you’re new, welcome to Regretevator High! My name is Gregoriah, and I’ll be your principal!” The person said, they waved and winked to the crowd now that the curtain was raised. “If you first years are nervous, just know the teachers here are quite nice, so there’s nothing to worry about!”

”Only thing I’m worried about is having to deal with them now.” Pest scoffed, he crossed his arms and looked at Poob.

”They seem like fun! What if they love to party like me?” Poob said joyfully, “Can principals and students even party together..?”

”Let’s hope so, for you.” Pest muttered to himself.

Pest shut his eyes and thought about something different to pass the time, he basically knew everything about the school since he read about it.

But of course he was interrupted.

”You can zone out after we do the anthem, okay?” Poob told Pest, Pest rolled his eyes and nodded.

”Sure, whatever…” Pest said

”I miss your attitude when you were nervous..” Poob muttered, Pest blushed again, but didn’t reply.

”Okay! Stand for our anthem , please!!” Gregoriah shouted into the microphone, everyone stood up quickly.

”Mrrp meeow! (Oh, I just love the anthem!)” The girl in the labcoat whispered to her friend.

”It’s very catchy, and quite easy to remember!” The other girl said, “I’m sure the 1st years will love it!”

Pest tried to block out the sound of everyones unsynchronized singing, and thought about other things.

But then, the anthem was done, and some really creepy girl was up on the stage.

”N-now! A speech from our honor student!” Gregoriah said weakly, even he seemed frightened by her presence.

“I’m Folly, the Honor student.” She said, she sighed and got closer to the microphone.

”I wonder what her speech is!” Poob said excitedly.

”Can’t be good.” Pest sighed, he rolled his eyes and decided to listen.

”I don’t actually have a speech for you guys. I genuinely could care less for any of you guys.” Folly said, her voice raised higher than earlier.

”Mrreow..? (Huh..?)” The girl in the labcoat said.

”How rude! I’m definitely not inviting her for a tea party!” The girl next to her angrily mumbled.

“That seems to be all from her… and the entrance ceremony… please have fun meeting your teachers, everyone!” Gregoriah called out, he ran back stage, nearly tripping on nothing.

”Okaay!” The person next to Pest yelled back. “Let’s go to class together, Scag!”

”We totally should, Prototype!” Scag replied, then, Prototype got out of his seat and began pushing Scag to their first class.

“We should just be able to go home…” Pest scowled and crossed him arms.

”But we should meet our teachers!” Poob told him, he smiled at him nervously.

”Fine, whatever.” Pest sighed.

They both stood up, and began walking to their homeroom classes.

Fuuckk.. that’s annoying… Pest thought to himself, he looked over at the direction of the clicking and saw the honor student herself. She looked at Pest through the corner of her eye and he quickly turned back to the board.

”You move too slow.” She whispered loud enough for him to hear, and maybe Poob.

“Hm? What happened?” Poob asked, Pest scoffed and turned to Poob.

”Nothing, don’t worry about it.” Pest replied.

The bell rung and everyone quickly went silent.

”Hello everyone, I am Mr. Enphoso! I will be your teacher from this point on!” Enphoso said with a smile that immediately scared the hell out of the whole class. Especially poob.

”H-hello…” Poob muttered, they were so scared they couldn’t even blow on their party horn anymore.

Pest eventually attempted to zone out, but of course someone had something to say. Not to him this time, surprisingly.

”You know, you really aren’t that scary when you’re really thought of!” A concrete boy whispered, he was sitting directly in front of Folly and had a big grin on his face.

”Are you implying you’ve been thinking of me?” Folly asked, she seemed very unamused.

”Well, technically yes! But not in that way, I do not like you.” He replied, he winked and turned his chair around completely. “My name’s Wallter! You are Folly, correct?”

”…Right.” She muttered, she slowly seemed more… flustered?

What in the romance anime scene…?? Pest thought to himself, he turned to Poob to see if they were listening in on this, but they were zoning out for what seemed like the first time.

As time went by, all Pest could think about was how corny the conversation he had heard was. He turned back to them and saw them holding hands and just… being very touchy.

What the hell?? It’s the first day! Pest wrinkled his nose and looked back at the teacher, who was currently on his conputer. If I stay here any longer I think I’ll die.

But just as he thought that to himself, the bell rung! Lunch time!

”It’s time to go!” Poob cheered, they were more hyper than earlier, guess they finally calmed down.

”Mhm…” Pest murmured, he reached out for Poob’s hand, but just before they grabbed it he retracted his hand and wrinkled his nose again.

”You okay?” Poob asked.

”You wouldn’t understand.” Pest said, he clenched his fist tight and walked out the door.

Fuuuck… get me out of this place. Pest cursed mentally, he looked for Poob who was right behind him before he continued to walk towards the lunchroom.

“Yeesh, I’m so glad I’m away from them now…” Pest sighed as he slouched into his chair.

”You ever get the feeling we’re being looked at?” Poob asked, Pest shot his eyes up at Poob, then looked around and found the girl in the labcoat and the girl in the pink dress staring at them.

”Oh dear, they spotted us!” One of them said.

”Mreeow! (Run!)” Said the other, they both ran off, gigging as loud as possible.

”…Yeah, sometimes.” Pest replied.

Pest glanced over at a few of the other tables, then he saw Folly and the Concrete guy again.

You’re kidding..?

He closed his eyes to try and listen in on their conversation.

”This is embarrassing, Wallter.”  Folly said.

“How so?” He asked, it sounded like he cracked open a can of something and was about to chug it down.

“I don’t know, you holding my hand and… just you looking at me like that.” She responded.

”Am I making you uncomfortable?” He asked, he retracted his hand and Folly reached back for it.

”Erm… I don’t know how to describe it.” She muttered.

“Yuup… I’m not listening to this anymore.” Pest said to himself, he opened his eyes and looked at Poob, their head resting on the table. “You up?”

“Mhm… I’m so full…” Poob grunted, they lifted up their head and looked at Pest with a subtle smile.

“What a shocker…” Pest joked, Poob chuckled and nodded.

The bell rang again and Pest shot up out of his chair.

”I have to do something, so I won’t get to class immediately.” Pest told Poob, Poob looked at Pest with a confused look and grabbed his arm.

”I’ll come with!” Poob replied, they smiled and attatched themself onto Pest. He snarled and pushed Poob off.

”Knock it off. Ergh… you can’t come.” Pest said, he ignored Poob’s sad look and walked away.

”I’ll just… wait then…” Poob muttered, they sighed and watched as Pest walked away.

Pest made it to the bathroom and stared at himself for a while, he couldn’t believe what was happening today.

”First day of school, and people are already flirting with each other.” Pest said, he turned on the water faucet. He splashed water on his face and looked back at himself in the mirror.

Right behind him was the concrete guy, he jumped and turned around.

”What’s your fucking deal…” Pest growled, he leaned against the sink and glared at him.

“Oh dear! Nothing at all!” The guy said, he smiled and pointed at Pest’s skirt. “Though, I believe you’re in the wrong bathroom?”

”I believe you should mind your own fucking business, and also wait a few days before flirting with people?!” Pest yelled, he slapped Wallter’s hand away and stomped out of the bathroom.

”My apologies…” The guy called out, he looked a little saddened by how rude Pest was being.

After a while, Pest walked back into his classroom. He looked around… where was Poob?
