Chapter 1: Sacrifice and What Comes After

Izuku Midoriya, the hero student, known by most as "Deku", stood triumphant over the ruined city of Tokyo. It was a long, hard fought battle that eventually led to victory, but victory came nonetheless. All against Tomura Shigaraki... or the being that used to call itself Shigaraki. At this point, due to the machinations of his sensei, the man wasn't quite himself. All the quirks in the world didn't couldn't stand against one kid with a dream, and the only quirk that couldn't be taken. Savoring the moment, Midoriya couldn't help but look over the destruction. His suit, worn and broken from months of use, looked more villainous than heroic. With worn, white clawed gloved over a deep red set of arm guards. Green tattered garb, with some white streaks following the suit up to his head. He wore a metal mask, in which its design was reflective of a smile, but now looked akin to a dark knight. Two green flaps of cloth extended up, reminiscent of rabbit ears, but in reality... a reference to his mentor. The first to truly believe in him. A dark, twisted version of Allmight... but it wasn't the appearance that made the hero. It was their actions that did, and he had just saved millions of lives by defeating his mortal enemy, the wielder of All for One, the Quirk which could give and take other quirks. One for All and All for One... back in the fight once more. And All for One was losing.

Laughing quietly, Tomura Shigaraki spoke to him. His voice sounded like the nemesis he was used to, the one who had attempted to kill him time and time again, but the inflections, the puppeteer behind it? That was completely new. "You think you've won? I have always had a plan B..."
Snapping back to his target, Deku immediately started to interrogate him. "What do you mean?!"

"Heh... telling you would ruin the fun..." His chest started to glow a vicious orange. As if a fire quirk was about to erupt, his heart potentially tearing the world asunder. "How will it feel, knowing that you can't save everyone? If you just let me win..."
The villain continued to monologue, eager to unleash his failsafe. "If I let you win, you would've destroyed it all, anyway! All I can do now is just minimize the damage!" Izuku launched himself towards the now blinding light and when he punched with the full force of One For All, hoping to stop it all before... it was over. Even if he were to die, if he could save the world, that would be enough to keep him content.

What surprised Izuku the most was that he could open his eyes yet again. It was... peaceful, full of warmth. Was he in a hospital, or something similar? That wasn't the case, as the greenette found himself in a stonework room... and he was definitely younger than he remembered. Barely could he move, nevermind speak. Perhaps he was on massive amounts of painkillers, and was heavily injured? He had been fighting the greatest villain of his generation. How did he get here?! It was then that Izuku spotted a new person. A young woman in a maid outfit, European styled, with black cloth and white lace. She seemed to be watching him specifically, which made him think: who is this person?! She noticed his reaction immediately, and called through a door to another room. What she said, added even more questions to the growing list. "Milady, your son has opened his eyes!"

The word choice alone was far more confusing. That... and this wasn't Japanese. This was a new language entirely. He'd studied English with Present Mic, so whatever they were all speaking it was definitely similar... Milady? What is going on here?!

Rushing into the room, a beautiful woman entered. Her dark verdant hair mirrored his own, lengthened and loosely hanging over her back down to her waist. Her eyes were kind, and gleeful, viewing him with all this work. From what he remembered before, this woman looked just like his mother, when she was in her 20s. There were no differences between the photograph he had seen and the woman before him, who then walked over to him, and scooped him into her arms, "Just as I thought... his eyes remind me so much of him. I knew using the hero's name would be a perfect choice." To him, she cooed, warmly, just like a mother would. "Hello, little Izuku."
How... wait, I'm named after an Izuku? What is going on? This has to be a trick by Shigaraki.

Carrying him, she brought him to a statue of... him. It was finely sculpted, and the memorial read, with intricate lettering: Izuku Midoriya, known as the hero Deku.

Looking up at the statue, she explained to him, answering his silent questions as if she could hear him. "You're named after him, you know. The great hero Izuku, who is your distant ancestor. You, your brother, and your next sibling... all share a great legacy." With reverence, she looked up at him fondly, "He saved the world from evil. There was a time of hardship after, but Inamorta wouldn't exist without him. One day, you'll understand the burden you will carry, even though you are not the heir apparent, great things will be expected of you. I hope you will be ready."

He was speechless. Literally, as he hadn't developed the motor control for speech, but also having nothing to say. My death was real. I saved the world... but it's changed so much.

6 months later:

Izuku waited as patiently as he could. Not that he could do much as an infant, unable to walk, nor able to say anything. Even still he was immensely distressed, as he could hear his new mother screaming in the other room. He couldn't do anything, and neither could his father, who paced outside in the same room with him, as neither could do anything to stop the pain of labor. His older brother was out with the knights, training with their squires as was custom, and so away from this event. It was excruciating to hear, as this was apparently the toughest pregnancy she had yet. Still they endured. Worrying together, yet staying strong. After an hour, she stopped and one of the lady's servants exited. Bowing to him, she stated, "It's over. You have a daughter, my lord."

"And Williina?" That was the first time he'd heard her name, and the concern he expressed voiced Izuku's silent questions.
With a smile, the servant stated, "She is safe, resting."
Relief etched itself on his features and nestled in his voice, "Good."
"They await you inside." Without further prompting, his father entered the other room. After another 10 minutes, his father brought out a new swaddled bundle of clothes. Noticing Izuku looking at them, he spoke gently to him with a smile. "Izuku, this is your new sister, Izumi. Treat her well." Carefully, he placed the baby girl into the same crib as him... before departing, leaving the unnamed Servant to watch over the two of them within their one cradle. Looking over at her helpless form, Izuku made a silent promise, I will protect you as long as I can, Izumi!

He tried to wrap his weak limbs around her in a hug, and she nuzzled into him. With nothing else to do, he let sleep claim him.

10 years later:

Izumi shouted an order to her made-up army, moving a piece on a game board. Despite the game being played, these orders were deadly serious. At least between the two of them, now embittered enemies. "Speartons, attack!"

Izuku called to his own troops, his voice resolute, as he relocated the pieces in question, "Archidons, fall back, staggered line and fire rate!"

Realizing the potential massacre, she lined up her pieces into a solid line, before rolling the dice to check if it worked. "Shield wall, with back shields up!"

Izuku was losing, but that's because the Speartons countered the Archidons on a fundamental level. Had he picked to play as the Swordwrath, he could have won through sheer numbers, but the Archidons are known for their skill with a bow, and resourcefulness in different environments... which is why he chose them. The current battle was in a muddy field, after heavy rain. That, by the game's rules, caused attrition, which gave slowdowns to unit speed and agility. The Spearton's shields stopped all but the most precise of shots, which is why Izumi picked them. Even with her low die roll of a 1 and a 3, their shields protected from the arrows, meaning they could ignore the attrition speed penalty. She picked them because she knew that Izuku had a preference. They knew each other perfectly.

Izuku rolled two dice. The game rules were simple: the higher the roll, the more successful the attack. If it was below three, it failed, if it was above 5, it was a success. In between was a stalemate. It was a 5. Which... against Izumi's 4... was a success. Grinning, he stated, "One Spearton falls to a lucky shot!"

A maid entered the room, carrying a tray with lunch, interrupting the fearsome battle. "Young Master, Mistress, I have brought lunch."

The two answered in sync, before tearing their eyes away from the board. Their eyes especially glowing as they saw the delectable food brought to them. While it wasn't katsudon, it was still delicious nonetheless. "Thank you, Millie!" Their smiles melted her heart as they do every day. Her eyes softened, before glancing at the game. "Ah, training your mind, I see. Who is winning?"
Izumi grumbled, glaring a moment's hate at him, even if it wasn't true. "Izuku just got a lucky shot on my Spearton."

He shrugged, replying with a statistic that happened earlier in the match. "She killed 3 of my Archidons with a single Spearton. My luck is turning!"

She nodded, understanding the situation. However, even though she wasn't a war advisor, she still had a few pointers nonetheless. "Remember, luck is not the only factor on the battlefield. I'm just a humble maid, and Izuku is using a weaker faction... but he could win if he doesn't brute force your forces, Mistress."

Izuku analyzed the board again, while Izumi responded to her, nodding in understanding. "I'll keep that in mind... What's for lunch?"

Millie explained, as she placed the plates down. "I used some of the ham from the cellar in combination with some fresh loves to make a couple of sandwiches. I also diced up some apples and crispened them in an oven with cinnamon and honey for dessert once you have finished your sandwiches."

They both chewed on their sandwiches, appreciative of the effort, as she went to check on the apples. After a moment of thought, Izuku asked her, "Have you ever wondered why they don't work together?"
Pausing, the greenette asked, "What do you mean, brother?"
He gestured to the two factions they were playing at the moment, "The other nations... The Speartons and Archidons would be incredibly powerful if they joined together..."

Considering his words, she spoke while eating, "Well, I think it's something that Evelyn said? That they revere their weapons?"

The whole concept seemed... barbaric, in a way. Imagine worshipping the sword, or the spear, or the bow? At least it made sense for the Magikill, since they studied magic. Selivus in the court used such sorceries to delight his audience, but even still, belief in magic seemed... more like superstition. How could his world change so much, so drastically, in the future? It didn't make sense. "I didn't think that would be to the point where they would view others as heresy..."
Izumi smiled, agreeing with that sentiment. "And this is why Order is better. We don't worship weapons."

He sighed, seeing how that outlook could make things... difficult. "That makes us look worse to the rest of the nations, though."
Izumi reminded him of two of their allies. "Not to Pertland or Westwind."
To that, he could agree, musing to that tune, "True..."
Interrupting their serendipitous philosophical ramblings, Millie returned, with the apple slices cooling on a metal tray. Seeing the empty plates, she smiled kindly, "How were the sandwiches?"
They replied simultaneously, in complete agreement. "They were great!"
She asked, testing if they were completely hungry. "You ate all of them?"
Izumi grinned, and shared, "Not a crumb left!" Izuku showed his plate too, albeit without saying anything.

Smiling, she gave out the sweet desert to them. "Well, you're both better than your brother. He had a habit of not eating everything, and going straight to dessert. He still wants everything his way... but I'm rambling. What do you have planned today... besides the end of your battle?"

Izuku summarized it, as he re-examined the board. "Well... Father wants to take us through a tour of some of the Northern lands before returning home for dinner."

She took their plates, as she continued to remain positive. "Sounds fun!"

Izumi's eyes gleamed, not noticing Izuku's strategizing in the background. "Yeah, we're excited to see more of Order than just the capital."

"Well, I wouldn't want to halt your battle for too long... just make sure to keep track of time!"

Hyperfocused back on the game, the siblings called back, together, "We will!"

A few hours later, the duo walked towards where they needed to go, the game long finished. "I can't believe I didn't see that flank coming... God I feel like an idiot."

He laughed slightly, under his breath, before stating, "Millie did warn you that I could do that."

Huffing, she acknowledged that very fact. "I know..."

The two arrived at their father's study. Straightening their clothes in identical motions, they waited for whatever business to be concluded. When one of their father's many advisers opened the door, they stood straighter. The man noticed them immediately. Nodding at them, his voice slithered out of his mouth as he told them, "Ah, young master, mistress... We've just finished our business, your father is waiting within."

With politeness, the two replied back, heads lowered in respect. The advisor technically outranked them, and knew to give deference where it was needed. "Thank you, sir."

His sly smile unnerved the two of them before he strode off, without a word. Looking back at him, Izumi whispered to her brother, "Is it just me, or is he a little creepy?"

Agreeing, he whispered back. "You're not the only one to feel that..."

The commanding voice of their father called out to them from within, not wanting to wait for them any longer, and still able to hear their voices outside the door. Turns out their whispers weren't as quiet as they thought. "Enter!"

Chapter 2: An Average Day For Royalty

Chapter Text

This was the first time the two had ever entered their father's study. It was locked to them before, with only their age as the main barrier for entry... but now, they were old enough. Worthy enough, in other words, and they took the opportunity to bask in the rareness of this place. The worn wooden shelves were stocked completely with ancient books, of a variety of topics. Armor stands carried old and battered suits, those of previous kings, stood tall and proud, as best they could... and memorabilia from all time periods were displayed carefully. In a space of promenance, on a clear display space on the shelf... Izuku even noticed something of his. Eyes wide, he approached, and scrutinized the misshapen piece of metal with wide eyes, completely shocked. It was his battered and beaten metal mask, the one he wore in that final, fateful battle countless years ago. That survived?

However, his father commanded their attention. "Izuku. Izumi." Turning rapidly, the two stood in front of his working desk, at attention, waiting until he said otherwise. He looked between the two of them, and then, satisfied with what he saw, gestured for them to relax. But not sit. Not yet. "Alright, very good. You are both here. Do you know why you are here?"
The duo, although almost separated by a year, acted as one, replying together: "To survey the northern lands, father."
Yet again, he was satisfied with that answer: "Very good." He explained why, "When you are older, part of your responsibilities will be to look after what we, your mother and I, will have left behind. While Izuko will be king, you shall be his vassal siblings, to work alongside him. All to keep Order prosperous. Come, let us get our horses." Leading them from the study, Izuku glanced back at his old metal mask, before leaving to follow right behind his family. That was the past, he must now look to the future.

The three galloped across the countryside, only slowing to a trot once they reached their destination. The sun was shining high in the noonday cycle, as the grains of the nearby farms rose to greet it. The golden pastures idyllically welcomed the royal trio, as their father explained: "These are the northern lands of our kingdom." He gestured to a different farm to the east, which, instead of grain, was a vineyard. "Most of our wine and other crops come from this part of the territory, being the most suited for farmland." Waving to a couple farmers as they passed by, the king continued to inform them of the most important rule of this society. "These people are the backbone of our nation, providing food and other resources for every part of the kingdom. They allow us to live as well as we do. To ignore them, is to risk death to us all."

Izuku thought of this, as they arrived at a smaller town, named Cornucia. It was clear why the town's name would be reminiscent of a cornucopia, as this place was the biggest export of food products in the nation. Entering the town, many citizens were in awe, lowering their heads in respect, and giving prayers, for the health and safety of the trio. This was the first time many had seen the two royal siblings, and so many wanted to celebrate their first time here. Eventually, the group was approached by two individuals. One was armored in full gambeson, with some mail poking out from beneath, and the other was an older man wearing peasant's clothes.

"Sire." The knight stated, bowing slightly, hand over heart. The other did the same, but didn't speak.

"Guard Commander Sir Pos Warren." He glanced at the older man, "And Quinn Nurich. How goes things here?"

"Very well, m'lord." The older man stated, looking up towards his king, still on horseback. "The grains are set to be the highest quantity in the past five years, and the grapes will ripen in a week's time. The other vegetables shall be ready well before schedule, as well, of course."

"Excellent news. Warren?"

The knight stood straighter, "Sire, there has been little sign of bandits as of late, and none of Archidonis incursions or sabotage."

"Not likely while Orech rules..." Their father, King Izura mused. Still, he gave the man a satisfactory nod. "As you were. I have conducted a survey of the lands. Well done, all of you. Continue, and you shall keep us prosperous."

The two bowed low, "Your compliments are most gracious, sire."

The older man recieved a basket from a little boy, a year younger than his sister, if Izuku was to guess. It contained a variety of local flowers. He rose once more. "M'lord, pardon my question, but who are those healthy siblings you ride with?"

"Do not worry about your ignorance. I have intentionally hidden these two." He raised his voice, so all could hear. "These are my two other children! My second son, Izuku, and my daughter, Izumi! While they are not my heirs, they are still going to protect our land, just as Izuko will."

All in the vicinity knelt, towards them, but when Izuku's name was mentioned, a whisper amongst them spread akin to wildfire. The name had meaning. It was the savior's name, and not one to be given lightly. It would add even more pressure onto his shoulders. Izumi was given the basket, from the older man. "A gift from us mere peasants. A boon for the queen's health, and your own, young princess Izumi."

Accepting it, the two children were in awe. This was there world. These people truly depended on their family... and they would not fail them. After a moment of basking in the praise, the king turned his horse, "Come, children, we must away." The three trotted them out of the town, and back onto the road. Taking their time, he asked of them: "What did you think?"

The two glanced between each other, before Izuku stated, "It's a necessary part of being a ruler here."

Izumi, however touched by their reverence of their mother, stated, "We wouldn't be here without them."

Their father looked back at them for a moment, surprised by their maturity, before turning back to the direction his horse was moving. Calling back, he stated, "It is not easy work, but it must be done. Come, your mother would have my hide if I didn't bring you home before dinner!"

He spurred his horse on, and the two children grinned, calling forth, "Yes, father!"

The Midoriya royal family ate at their main table. For once, everyone was together. The father ate at the head, while the Mother sat to his right. Looking between the both of them, she asked the two youngest children. "Did you two have fun today? I heard Izura took you out to the northern province today."
Izumi smiled, and nodded. "We learnt a lot!" Izuku didn't speak, as his mouth was full, but he did agree with a silent nod.

Williina sighed with relief, looking to her husband. "I'm glad to hear that..."

The reason for that relief came in the form of Izuku's eldest brother, who had dark green hair, but it was flat and silky compared to his younger siblings. His gaunt face smirked slightly, as if finding their statements amusing as he ate. Being the heir, he was first in line for the throne, and unfortunately, it showed in his attitude. One such display was when he directly interrupted his mother at that moment. "They're just farmers. They're not worth our notice."
The king spoke this time. It wasn't gentle like with them. After all, he'd already given these lessons to him, and they clearly didn't land. Especially with the lack of value in the lives of his subjects. "Izuko... as your subjects they will be your responsibility in the future. Besides, if you don't respect their contributions..." He paused, ensuring he had the upstart's attention, green eyes meeting similarly glittering emerald ones. "They will be more than content to replace you. You are the heir. You should be able to notice these things. Your siblings are clearly ahead of you in that way. They understand how those lands are necessary."

He scowled into his food, continuing to eat, and not saying a word. These arguments had been getting worse as of late, and Izuku could feel the tension in the air.

Sighing, the king moved on to other matters. "Moving on... there are important guests arriving on the morrow. The King of Archidonis arrives with his daughter." Izumi gave a sly glance at Izuku, who didn't say anything. What, the Archidonis were his favorite faction, okay? Not just because it happened to have... her... as its patron saint. "We are wanting to create a peace treaty with them, as they are our immediate neighbors to the west. They will be our wall against the Swordwrath and Speartons, especially the former's more... aggressive leader to be. I expect you three to be on your absolute best behavior." His words were more aimed towards Izuko, than Izumi or Izuku. "You will be representing the future of Order, as his daughter will for Archidonis. I cannot express how much this meeting means to our nation."

The three siblings responded together, bowing their heads in respect. Even Izuko knew not to contest him on this. Being petty was one thing, but they didn't need a war with their immediate neighbors. In sync, they agreed. "Yes, father."

"Good." Finishing his food, he stood up from the table, and stated, "I have some last minute preparations to make for tomorrow. You all should get your rest. It will be a big day." He left promptly, adjourning to his study.

Their mother spoke the three of them, before leaving, followed by her handmaiden. "You heard your father. Millie, if you could?"

The named servant bowed, and gestured towards a door. "As you wish, Milady."

The three of them were led back to their rooms. Izuko trailed behind, watching them as they talked. He was deep in thought, about what, though? Unknown.

Izumi asked first, her curiosity competing with Izuku's own. "What do you think will happen tomorrow?"
Millie answered for them, matter of factly giving the prepared schedule, set up by Lady Midoriya in their absence. "In the morn, the carriage will arrive, then a tour of the castle is to be given to Lord Orech and his daughter, before a four course lunch is served at noonday's time. Then the Lords will separate off for business, and you two will be keeping the young lady company, while Izuko is going to be with Lord Izura to observe how business is done."

Silently, the three wondered what name she had, but Millie was ahead of them on that question too. "I do not know the young lady's name yet, so I apologize for my ignorance now. However, at dinner, you will have a 2 course meal before you will head to bed. They will be here for a total of three days, in which they will survey our resources for trade, both foodstuffs and materials. You will not accompany them on day two, as you just inspected the farmlands, but the boys will join the lords on day three, as that is when you will head to the southern province to inspect the mines."

Izuku understood the potential political union at stake. Izuko already understood this, from hhis expression, not that anyone could see it from behind them. "I understand. We shall be giving the Archidons resources to help defend us both with their archers. With them being our shield against hostility."

"Exactly." They had made it to their rooms. Izuku's was directly across from his sister's, and were basically set up identically. Meanwhile, Izuko's was further down the hall. As they did not need to be escourted any further, she bid them goodnight. "Good night, you three. I will see you in the morning to go over what you need to do."
Izumi smiled, "Alright. Thanks, Millie."

She bowed, and departed, satisfied her duties were complete to the standard level. Before they could go into their rooms, a voice interrupted them. "You two are rather smart brats, aren't you?" Izuko ruffled their hair with a small smirk before heading into his own room. "Night."

They both called back, waving to him, "Good night, brother!"

They then gave a final hug before retiring to their separate rooms for the night.

Chapter 3: Ambassadors of Archidonis

Chapter Text

As the sun rose, the royal family awaited their guests. Due to the unusual circumstances today, all had to wear formal attire... and the two youngest found that what they wore was annoying. Izumi wore a decorated dress, in greens and blues, with gemstones weaved into it, giving the impression of nature, or the nature of Order, in its resplendent beauty. Izuku, on the other hand, had to wear a brown, gold and silver attire, with weavings giving the illusion of Order's wealth in metals. Meanwhile, the heir apparent wore a decadent golden suit, with silver interlacing gemstones, creating a union of the younger children's themes while simultaneously showing his role as the heir apparent, which ironically actually fit his bearing at this moment. Both Izuku and Izumi complained in their minds that these outfits were too tight, restricted movement, and were too flashy for their tastes. Izumi seemed to have it worse due to the corset that had to go with the dresses, grumbling to herself. "God, I can't wait for when this will be over..."

Izuku whispered back, to console her: "It's only for today. Tomorrow and Wednesday I believe we can wear what we want."
Sighing in relief for their future selves, the only daughter thought aloud... "Thank goodness..."

Izuko interrupted them with a hushed whisper of his own. "Quiet, you two. They're expected to arrive shortly." The two glanced at each other, clearly unimpressed with their brother's attempt at trying to be the respectful brother they knew he wasn't. Sure, he could be nice when he wanted to be, but for the most part, thought he was better than them. He was the heir, but that didn't mean he'd automatically make a better person than another. However, he was correct, as the city gates were raised, and an ornate carriage arrived, drawn by 4 horses. It was decorated with symbols, including the coat of arms, a bow aiming at a 45 degree angle. Servants rushed to welcome the lord to the castle, and lead them to Izura's location, in the great hall, made into a temporary throne room.

The three children stood at attention, and their parents waited on their thrones, adorned in their finest clothes. Their mother's dress was similar to Izumi's, albeit in different coloration, this time of gold, deep purple and bronze... and both had extravagant jewelry. Izuko wore his hair long behind him, refusing to tie it up per his parents advice. A few minutes after the carriage arrived, the King or Archidonis entered the throne room, guided by Millie, but what caught Izuku's attention like a figurative thunderbolt when he saw their daughter.

She looked just like her. Izuku's face flushed red as he thought about her, That can't be...

Regaining his composure, Izuku waited for formal introductions. His father spoke first, with a welcoming smile breaking his usual stern demeanor. "Ah, Lord Orech... it is good to see you in good health. I trust you remember my wife Williina?"

"Lord Izura, indeed I do."

"These are my children, my heir Izuko, and my other son Izuku, and my daughter Izumi." The three of them bowed slightly towards the Archidon lord. He took note of the heir, but doubly so of Izuku. Naming a child after the saint was expecting much from them, after all.

Nodding in agreement, Lord Orech stated, "If we are introducing our children... This is my only daughter, Ochako."  He gestured to the brunette next to him, an exact copy of the Ochako from ages past, dressed in a beautiful gown of green and gold, with plenty of jewelry to adorn her. Izuku took in every detail, scarcely believing it as the sunlight glittered off of the gemstones, almost mesmerizing the greenette as he couldn't believe the coincidence that was standing before them. Even the same name?!

Izura stepped down the stairs, towards their guests. Putting him on equal footing to them. "The best place to start, I think, would be a tour of the grounds. Would you like that?"
With a smile, the Lord of Archidonis agreed, his intricately simple robes swaying as he turned to his daughter to see her reaction to all of this. "Indeed I would. We are here for three days, so there is no immediate need to rush to business."

As the five of them walked through the castle grounds, the two kings walked ahead, while their mother kept an eye on Izuko to his chagrin. The three youngest stayed behind, but still keeping pace with them, with Ochako looking out the windows at the green pastures past the castle. It was at this point that the worst happened: Izumi actively noticed how nervous Izuku was, and was now teasing him for it. With a sly smile, the greenette asked, "Something bothering you, brother?"
To be honest, his thoughts were elsewhere, more thinking about how the coincidence was completely out of the blue, and completely unreal. However, his apparent infatuation with her, or the implication of such from his sister, caused him to stutter a response. "Uh... it's... it's nothing."
Her voice stated how much she believed him. "Right... I saw how you were looking at Lady Ochako... you love her, don't you?"
While the accusation may have been true in a previous life, that accusation wasn't fair now. After all, it was likely that she was a completely different person. "It's not..."

She continue to grin slyly, not buying it for a second, but still keeping it quiet. She was loving seeing him squirm, as any decent sister should. Gleefully, she continued to whisper, pointing out his nervousness. Uncharacteristic nervousness. "Not like that? Aw, but you're sweating a rain of arrows out of nervousness!"

He hissed back, a bit louder than he meant to. "No I'm not!"

That slightly raised voice caught the attention of the subject of the conversation herself, as she asked: "Are you two ok?" They turned to see Ochako was watching the two of them, curious.

Izumi pulled her aside out of earshot for the moment, allowing Izuku to compose himself yet again. She wouldn't just tell her about his current nervousness or, god forbid, love, but she would concoct a way to get him closer. In that respect, she was a wingman. Izumi was laughing to herself as she pulled the two of them together gently. "You two should get to know each other! I'm going to see if mother needs help with Izuko." She skipped forward towards them a few paces, allowing them some privacy.

Unable to comment on this, Izuku started. "W-we already know each other's names..."
As it turned out, Ochako was also nervous, her face lightly blushing through close proximity. "Y-Yeah..."

To be polite, he asked, instead, of what she does there. The nation of archery was one of the more interesting things in Inamorta, and he wanted to know more. "So... what do you do in... in Archidonis?"

And, well, to be honest he shouldn't have been shocked by the first response... "W-Well, I practice archery a lot..."

As they talked about their interests, getting more familiar with each other, Williina asked Izumi, "Why aren't you with your brother?"

With an impish grin, her green eyes sparkled as she delightfully revealed what she was up to. "I'm letting the two of them get to know each other. They're a little... lovestruck... back there."

"Really?" She glanced back at the two of them, an eyebrow raised. When seeing their blushing faces as they talked, the queen smiled and turned back to her daughter. "Well done. This development might make the treaty process easier for us. We should leave them to it, don't you agree?"
Izumi absolutely agreed. "That's why I came up here."
With a nod of approval, Williina stated: "Clever girl. I knew you took after both of us."

The rest of the day wasn't very interesting, truth be told. The tour went as expected, and it was dull... except for Izumi. Not anything about the tour, however. Instead, she loved watching the two lovebirds stumble through every conversation. It was adorable.

Later, as the group waited for lunch in the main hall, Williina informed husband of new developments. Specifically what she learned from her daughter. "Izura, I have some wonderful news from Izumi."

Quietly, he leaned closer to his beloved, silently eager to hear whatever it could be. He had an inkling, given the events of the day, but wanted to hear what his daughter noticed. "What is it?"
And the news was great indeed. While romantic love was all well in good... politically, this was an opportunity too good to waste, something his wife agreed with in her delivery. "It seems that Izuku and Ochako have fallen for each other. Apparently at first sight."

"That is good news. I'm sure that Orech would want his daughter happy, and their marriage would strengthen ties between our nations." He remembered how his father elected to marry the two of them, tying their territories together. Williina was a duchess of the fertile lands of the north, and he the prince of Order. The territory was a part of the kingdom back then, but that was a way to solidify it as a core part of the land. Now, though? They had an opportunity to create a union between Order and Archidonis... with Order potentially on equal or better footing.

Williina smiled, agreeing with her husband's silent assessment. "Indeed. Izumi recognizes this and let them be."

Smiling at his daughter's forward thinking, Izura let things be, watching his youngest son interact with the Princess of Archers. "Good. The best kind of relationship is the one that starts naturally."

Later, after lunch, Izura, Izuko, and Orech discussed business together, in his study. The two lords sat across from each other, and discussed terms. After a long negotiation... Orech summarized it all, "So, we will get 15 shipments of gold within the next month, minus the 3 it requires to pay for the food from your farmland."

Izura agreed to that, "That gold will be paid with by mutual defenses and silver, right?"
The Archidon reciprocated the sentiment, "Indeed. I would like to have the first shipment leave as soon as I do."
With a smile, as if that wasn't already planned, the King of Order noted to him, "That can be arranged..."
Standing up, he was more than prepared to leave. "Then I believe that is everything. After I inspect the mines, of course."
Dismissing Izuko, who bowed and left the room rather quickly, the verdant haired lord didn't move from his seat. "Not quite, Orech."
With this sudden change, he glanced at the other king with suspicion, before noting the subtle hint of amusement in it. Taking a seat, he sighed, "What is it?"
After taking a small sip of wine from his goblet, he stated the facts as he knew them. "My daughter has reported that my youngest son and your daughter have fallen in love. Apparently love at first sight."
Now deadly serious, as this was his only child now in the conversation, he stated what the older man was getting to. "You're proposing a marriage agreement as well."
Holding a hand, to stop him from rushing to accusations, he stated, "I won't ask you to agree to it now. If you need to talk with Lady Ochako first, do so. I will be discussing this with my son as well."
That made him relax. Just discussions of something which could happen. Not what will. Even still, the boy in question had seemed very polite so far, but one could never be too certain. "Very well. I'll give this some thought. But I will be observing him to see if he's the right man for my daughter."
Smiling, the King of Order would agree with that sentiment. After all, he had a daughter of his own."That is fair."

"Until tomorrow." He turned, and let a servant lead him to the guest chambers.

Smiling, the man called back, pleased with the outcome. Everything was coming together quite nicely. The kingdom was prosperous, his allies content, and even a marriage was on the table. "Until tomorrow, Lord Orech."

Chapter 4: To Prove Thyself

Chapter Text

The second day of the stay was very similar to the first, although, Izuku was summoned to his father's study first thing in the morning. Not quite knowing why, the boy pondered the reasons. Was it rebuking for some accidental slight? Was he too close with the Ochako doppelganger yesterday? There were so many potential errors he could have made. When reaching the door to his father's study... Izuku didn't even have to wait for the call of his father, who didn't make him wait this time. As soon as his steps were audible to the interior, even before he could knock, his father ordered him to... "Enter!"

When he entered the verdant stood straight, wondering why he was called. Nearly sweating out of nervousness... he soon relaxed after seeing his father's own relaxed form, a wry smile on his face. Eyes glittering with amusement, he calmed his son even further: "Relax, Izuku, you're not in any trouble. If anything, that distinction goes to your brother."
"Ok..." He sighed, alleviating the tension, and noting that his brother had earned his father's ire in some form.

Continuing, and interrupting Izuku, he stood up and glanced out the window, it's view over the city astounding: "Although, you have done something very important yesterday for our family, although you may not know it." Pausing dramatically... he then asked the embarrassing question he knew was coming, but wasn't expecting: "I hear you already have a... lover..."
Izuku's face went beet red, and he tried to deny it, but only failed further. "Wh-what? I don't know what you're talking..."
His face turning into a frown, he decided to push past his embarrassment. He valued truth over convenience, "Izuku, be honest. You care for Lady Ochako. That's fine. In fact, your relationship helps protect the kingdom even further, if it lasts long enough. As it gives us a stronger bond to Archidonis... our protection becomes more ever present, and it can keep us safe... but keep in mind that her father knows of this..." A gulp from Izuku caused him to smile slightly, before, "...and will be watching you with extra attention. Not only this, but there is risk associated with joining you two in union."
The boy remembered his history. Archidonis has been one of the big three nations, and anything to destabilize the big three... well, it'd draw any potential attention, good, or bad. Spearta and the Swordwrath would notice immediately... and take steps to figure out how to level the playing field. Even if that means burning Order away to do it. They were a small nation, and percieved to be just scholars. The Magikill were the same, and had to prove their might over magic, a feat Order couldn't do at the current moment. Considering this, he asked his father, "Any... anything else I should know?"
Well, he laid things out for him, and it was something that just didn't register for a few seconds. "If the next two days go well for you, you may be married to her by the end of the week..."

Interrupting the king when he is speaking is one thing, but as a son asking his father a critical question, he just couldn't let that comment go. "What?!"

Glancing over to him, he laughed, as if he thought Izuku's naivety was something humorous. To be fair, it was informed by their literature, and the remnant literature of the previous age, the now dubbed Age of Wonders. Things were different now, and especially so for royalty such as themselves. "It's quite common for royalty to marry when around your age. I met your mother when I was 7, and was married at 11."
Well, if that was the expectation... then it was unusual that he and Izumi hadn't been wedded off yet. "Wait... is Izuko married?"
There was little surprise at the question, but only at the jump from the topic of himself to Izuko. With a nod, he confirmed as much. "Technically, yes. He is married to a Duchess in Westwind, the middle daughter of the royal family."

That made things more concrete for the green haired boy, and he nodded, confirming he understood what this meant. On it's face, it was an expression of love... but for monarchs and nobles, it was akin to a contract, a political alliance. A lot less romantic than he'd thought previously. It certainly changed the old phrase 'treat her like a princess'. "Oh..."
Seeing the downcast nature of his son, and connecting the dots. "Do not mistake my intentions, Izuku. The ties between nations is important, but I can see that you already clearly care for the girl. Williina and I... same situation." His voice turned serious as heh brought up the part that he was slowly dreading. Her father's baleful gaze on him, now that both were aware of the potential marriage. "But know this, my son: if her father does not see you as acceptable, then you two will be nothing more than friendly rivals... or perhaps not as friendly, but just as much rivals... on the world stage. Do you understand?"

Nodding with determination, he stated to the affirmative. "Yes, father!"
With a smile, he gave a smile, before gesturing with his head towards the door, his beard quivering with mild amusement. "Good. You know what is expected. Go get ready."

The rest of the morning, there wasn't anything too interesting, just breakfast, meeting with the guests once more, further business, and, of course, the Izumi watching Izuku and Ochako suffer from nervousness as Lord Orech put the groom to be under massive scrutiny. His scathing gaze lessened slightly as he saw how genuinely happy she was. The day concluded with another dinner, this time Izuku was sat next to Ochako at their parents request.

Day three of their visit started like the others had. Beautiful sunlight, good people... and a visit to the mines. Ochako and Izumi were to stay with Lady Williina, while Izuro and Izuku were to have an inspection of the mines with the lords. It wasn't a woman's work, they said, but Izuku didn't buy it. He knew women in his previous lives that would've loved the hard work, and some who might have preferred it to the role of lady of the home. But... it wasn't his place to say anything to that, and just accepted what was told for now.

Their carriage arrived at the entrance to the southern precinct at noon. The heat was unbearable, but Izuku put up with it for the time being. Arriving at Goldguard, the four of them dismounted, their knights holding back with their horses. Looking around the permeant prospecting town, an old man, missing teeth, yet still in good spirits, approached them. Bowing low, he waved his old battered hat before him, his dirt encrusted garb and blackened skin showing his time in the mines.

"Wel'ome to 'old'ard... I am Henry 'oldenvale, head of the Minin' guild. I hear that you'll be 'aking a 'alk down these here, lowly mines...?"

"Considering Goldguard creates roughly 60% of the gold in Order alone, I would say that these are far from lowly." Izura stated, with amusement. Still, as the group dismounted, he commanded, "Show us your work."

" 'ery well, milord." He lowered his head, before gesturing for them to follow. Now on the ground, the quartet could truly appreciate the scale of the place, as he led them to the nearest vantage point. While the town may be up high, to avoid flooding, the mines were both at the mountain base, as well as exposed in a massive strip mine. The sound of scraping metal could be heard as the miners' picks clashed with rock and stone, metal and old bone. The strip mine had quite a lot of metal... upon further inspection, it was clear that much of it was already cast into forms.

A chill ran through his veins as Izuku realized, this is an ancient city...

"This 'ere strip mine is where our schteel comes from, lords..." He gestured with his cane, supporting him as he limped around, giving them a total view. "Mos' is already cast... considerin' the age. An ancient city, sire. The ruins be no good alone, but they are built from schteel. Such as we can use in our forges." The man explained, before noting a cart carrying out old bones. "Wha'ever calamity struck this 'ere place, killed everyone. The bones be no good here. We give 'em proper burials if we can, Deku rest their weary souls..."

Some, however, were diverted. Prince Izuku couldn't let their destination go unknown, "And those ones?"

Looking to him, the man grimaced. "Sometimes, we canne iden'ify 'em, making burial impossible. 'owever, they can still be used. Porcelain is strongest when you burn bones in the fire." With that morbid fact stated, he then gestured towards a large opening, "Over there, is the entrance to the 'old mines. That is where the 'old comes from."

Orech nodded, stating to him, "Can we have a closer look?"

With that, the four made their way into the cave. Izuko seemed skittish, but that may be due to his speluncaphobia. He had a fear of being underground, and refused to visit the smiths properly because of them. As they walked to the deepest part, seeing the gold miners, with torches and laterns chisel at rock, the guild leader explained, "This particular part of the mine 'as a massive gold vein we've only just found. By our estimations, there should be some 50 tons of gold yet to mine in this one alone."

Blinking, Izuku wondered, how is there that much gold in one spot...? That doesn't make any sense...

However, Izuro nodded with approval. After all, such an estimation gives a good impression to his current guest. "Very good. What are your methods for extracting it?"
"Our main method is..." Before he could finish his explanation, a massive explosion detonated, causing the cave to shake.

"What is going on?"

"That's mining dynamite sire, but 'here not supposed to while your here!"

After the initial shock, the cave began to shake, with rocks from the ceiling started to fall down. Izuko panicked and scrambled towards the exit, while the tremors brought the other four, adults and singular child to their knees. A stray rock hit the guild leader in the head, knocking him out cold. The amount of blood from his wound was concerning, but there were much bigger problems. The ceiling came crashing down at once, and Izuku instantly raised his arms, as if to stop the incoming death... forgetting that he no longer had Allmight's power bestowed on him. However, to his surprise, he was actually able to catch it. Straining himself, he held the weight, energy supercharging through his muscles, as he held up the weight of Goldguard on his very back, as Order's very own Atlas. Orech, kneeling on the floor to avoid the now lowered ceiling, looked up in amazement at the child who was holding back the fall of the mountain.

Izuku yelled as he was crushed slowly by the weight. His father quickly acted, calling to those outside the tunnel. The collapse ceased throughout the majority of the reinforced tunnel, but now rescue efforts needed to be made. "Those of you who can move, help get the supports up! My son is stopping us from being crushed! Help him!"

Slowly, wooden supports were added, and the weight alleviated. As adrenaline wore off... Izuku collapsed from exhaustion, his eyes unable to stay open. The last thing he saw were the amazed looks of his father, and Ochako's...

After what only seemed like minutes... Izuku awoke in his bed, surrounded by Ochako on his left, and Izumi on his right. A moment of confusion gave way to clarity as he realized he was in bed... and they were worried. Of course, he was far more concerned with the others, especially the miner's guildmaster, and was about to ask, his voice straining: "What..."

They immediately turned to him, "You're alright!" Ochako immediately hugged him tightly, burying her head in his chest. With a blush, Izuku patted her head, stroking her hair gently to calm her down. It was something that worked in his past life, so he figured he'd try again.

Meanwhile, Izumi gave a quick hug around the neck, before stepping back. "You made me so worried, brother! You held back a collapsing mineshaft on your own!" That last part was the most astonishing. A feat like that would be memorialized for the rest of his life, no matter what happened after. It was too noticable.

Ochako looked up into his eyes, and pulled his face to look at hers. "You saved my father... how can I possibly repay you?"

"You don't need to. Just be relieved that everyone is fine... I hope." He smiled back at the two of them, and appreciated their company. After a moment, he asked, "Where's everyone else?"

Izumi reported immediately, giving accurate, yet illustrative detail, "Mother is being consoled by Millie, while Father and Orech are debating what happens next. I'm not sure where Izuko is. All I know is that he escaped here to the capital when the mine collapsed."

Even though he had a fear of caves... the speed of his retreat, and the fact he hung back did no favors for the eldest brother. "Father won't take too kindly to his retreat..."

With a quiet agreement, his sister shook her head ever so slightly, "No, he won't."

Meanwhile, Ochako was oblivious to that part of the conversation, having fallen asleep due to Izuku's comforting. That, and the stress of her worry did overcome her. Looking down, Izuku sighed, still feeling exhausted, but not as much. Izumi agreed with that tired sigh. "Today was a long day, wasn't it?"

Nodding, the green haired boy agreed. "Absolutely. You won't mind if I stay in bed for a little?"
She smiled knowingly, her expression turning impish as she stood up. "Of course not. I'll report your condition to everyone. Spend some time with your fiancé. You have earnt it, brother."

As she walked past the footrest, he stuttered, glaring at her, all the while. "W-what?! She's not my..."

"I think it's best if Father tells you. Here..." Izumi carefully helped Ochako onto his bed, turning Izuku's face even further crimson in the process. With a wink, she glanced back from the door, "You'll thank me later." Closing it gently, she ensured that the girl wouldn't wake, leaving Izuku to rest with his crush... and apparently, fiancé.

Izuro was furious with his son. And he made crystal clear as to why. "While I understand your self preservation intuition, and commend you for those for not leaving the kingdom without a potential heir..." The next words were spoken with such wrath as he had yet to ever display to his youngest children, "...your actions after the fact could have had serious repercussions on the whole of the kingdom! Especially where you were found!"

Backed into a proverbial corner, "I needed to relieve stress!"
"You are a royal who is married! Visiting a mistress is unbecoming of a royal! You could have written a letter for your betrothed to meet you here, to console you! Imagine if this was found out! The scandal alone would make you lose all respect in the eyes of the citizens, and I'd be forced to strip you of your title as heir to the throne!" Izuko's eyes widened with horror at the close shave. It was clear that for too long, that he had considered his position... unassailable. The current king sighed, stating to him. "I already have half a mind to, you know, since your siblings seem better able to appreciate the role you are currently destined for." The silken haired boy, incensed, was about to protest greatly when his father beat him to the punch. "Go to your room and think about your actions." Izuko could do nothing but look down in apparent shame before departing.

Lord Orech came through the door to his study just after the surly boy's departure. With a raised eyebrow, he started, "He seemed to be in a fine mood today..."

Sighing, the king of Order took off his crown, and rubbed his forehead in annoyance. "I gave him a stern talking to. He is far from the ideal heir. Thank goodness you don't have that problem."

With a hint of righteous smugness, Orech agreed with that assessment, "Ochako is indeed the perfect heiress."
Now the opportune moment to change conversation topics... Izuro started: "Speaking of your daughter, what is your opinion on the matter?"
Smiling, he gave his honest thoughts. This day alone proved his worth, "Based on his heroic actions alone, I believe he will be a perfect husband, and the perfect match for the union to symbolize our alliance."

With a nod, Izuro agreed, putting quill to parchment, in order to get preparations in order. "I agree as well. It's up to the two of them, though. Even though they already agreed to it, it would be best to confirm again."

With a single nod, the king of Archidonis: "Agreed."

Chapter 5: The Wedding

Chapter Text

The next day continued as if nothing had happened... well,  mostly. Izuku ate with the rest of the family, and afterwards, Izuro wanted Izuku to walk with him to discuss something privately. Arriving to their study, he stood at attention, waiting for him to look up. After a few seconds, though, his curiosity made him ask: "You wanted to speak, father?"

Looking up from his parchments, he smiled. Putting them aside, he  "Yes. What you did yesterday was nothing short of incredible. You saved Lord Orech, Myself, Izuko, even if he doesn't want to admit it, and hundreds of miners yesterday. You truly are the descendent of the original Izuku, you have his strength and determination, impressing Orech to a high degree... which is why he's given his blessing for the marriage. If you accept, you will be wed to Lady Ochako in two days. He is discussing this with her as we speak... but I think it's clear she cares deeply about you, as you her."

There was no other option. It was too fortuitous, and something he would have done with the original Ochako... given the time... He didn't want to be away from her any longer, and didn't want to be forced onto opposing sides. He did the only logical choice for Order and himself. "I accept."

Still smiling, he turned back to a different piece of parchment. "That's what I thought you would say."

Shock lined Izuku's features as he realized the time frame. It was far, far too soon. He expected a week, maybe... definitely not... "In two days?"

The King, his father, nodded, and explained the process... or more accurately, why it wasn't happening today or tomorrow. "Orech is going to send for his wife to be present, and consult with the shops here in the capitol for a wedding dress suitable enough for his daughter. You will need to look your best as well, which is why I have arranged for a tailor to help acquire one for your station. Izuko will be your best man, and Izumi will act as her bridesmaid, as she knows you both, and Orech's family has no one who can function in that role in so short a time."

Izuku asked, ensuring that his father in law wasn't against this whole plan. "And... Lord Orech knows and is accepting of this plan?"

His father immediately replied with the truth and a bit of a smug smile. "We discussed it last night, while you were recovering. It seemed only right, at least between our estimations..." His estimations were correct in that, at least.

Looking down, the verdant haired boy replied, "As long as everyone is content with it, so will I."

His father looked over the young man with a newfound respect. He had seen Izuko act very differently with his marriage proposal, eager to have a lady of his own, and not necessarily for the right reasons. Izuku seemed to take after himself, in a way. "You're very mature for your age. Both you and Izumi."

Blushing at the praise slightly, he glanced out the window. "I guess..."

Still looking at him with warmth, he said one final thing before dismissing the boy. "It's good for both of you as royalty."

Ochako waited in her guest room when a knock was heard. "Yes?"

Her father's voice called from the other side. "Ochako, can we have a talk?"

"Sure, father." She opened the door and let him in. Closing it behind her, she turned to face Orech. "What is this about?"

Sitting on the bed, he started"I heard that you and Prince Izuku have become rather close. You remember our last conversation?"

Having sat down next to him, Ochako's cheeks tinged red at the memory, and nodded, "I do."

Clasping her hands with his own, he looked her directly in the eye. "I now give my approval. The choice is up to you."

With determination... and a desire to have a solid future with someone as kind as the young prince... especially if what she suspected was at play... then Ochako had nothing to refuse. "I will do it."

Orech approved the mature response. There was much at stake, considering the tensions heating up to the west, and having a secure set of supplies and a treaty to the east would do nothing but bring good tidings for the future. "A good choice. Order's resources would be beneficial to us, not to mention they may be annexed when you are Queen. I will arrange for your mother to arrive here for the wedding in 3 days time."

Eyes wide, the brunette realized what that meant. Not just the wedding, the oaths... but what it would mean for her future. "What, three days?!"

"While prompt, Lord Izuro and I believe this is for the best."

"If that is what is to be done, father." He nodded at her response and strode to leave, only pausing to glance at his daughter for a second. It was the first real step to becoming an adult, and it was one that he didn't want to admit that he didn't want her to have yet. Still, time marches on. The bow was drawn already, and longed to fire. After that moment of contemplation, he closed the door.

The day after, the Lady of Archidonis arrived. The carriage that brought the King and Daughter of Archidonis again brought royalty, in this case the queen, to their gates. She was basically a mature version of Ochako, but with blue eyes and much longer hair. She helped her daughter pick a proper wedding dress, while Izuku's father helped him pick the perfect robes.

Both sides were heavily invested in this union. It was as if the stars aligned for everyone. Izuku was secretly thankful that he wouldn't be forced to fight her, but had a sneaking suspicion that these coincidences were not only superficial... but he couldn't dwell on that as the wedding went forward at full speed.

The grand hall was redecorated with white banners and covered with roses and a variety of other flowers. Each had their own meaning, Izuku was told, but he didn't know the symbolism.

Order's small contingent of knights wore brass & gold plated decorative armor instead of the usual dull iron they normally did. Instead of halberds, they held a banner depicting Order's symbol: A spartan-like shield with a tattered rabbit-looking head on the front. On closer inspection, Izuku realized that was his costume during the fight with Shigaraki. Torn, battered, frightening... but a symbol of hope for this nation he was a part of. It swelled him with pride as he was led down the makeshift aisle towards the thrones by his mother. Lord Izuro was seated before them, waiting for them to reach the end of the room. When Williina brought Izuku right before the throne, she let go of his hand, and stood next to the throne. I turned to look as Ochako was led by her father. She wore a beautiful white and gold gown, with purple accents. Orech spared no expense, as purple was the single most expensive dye. The process for making it was long, complex, and yielded only minimal results. However, the use of purple here had the effect of accentuating Ochako's beauty, at least to Izuku.

When she had been brought over, Orech sat down on the throne next to Izuro's, with his wife standing next to it. Izuro said a long winded speech about unity between nations and how this union was a metaphor for it in the years to come, then went to the part that mattered: "Do you both plan to take care of each other, in both sickness and health?"

"We do." The two of them spoke in unity.

Again, the lord of Order recited the next line of the ancient wedding vows. "Will you stand by each other, no matter what happens in the world?"

"We will."

Now came the defining question, the one that would shape their futures for all time. "Do you take each other as Husband and Wife?"

The two looked into each other's eyes. Seeing that both of them were determined to do this, and that, in the end, they did care greatly for the other. As his sister joked, it was love at first sight. "We do."

"Then you are now in eternal wedlock. Stand proud for your nations, and for each other. Let us now celebrate this union!"

The after wedding party was rather tame to what he heard previous wedding parties were like, but that is due to how political this wedding was. Bards and entertainers brought tricks and joy to those who witnessed them, the drinks were plenty, and the food was delicious. Everyone was happy, especially Ochako and Izuku, who laughed, partied, feasted, hugged each other plenty throughout the night, their awkwardness around each other clear to all, but not minded. For now, there was peace within the nation called Order.

Chapter 6: All Good Times Come to an End

Chapter Text

5 Years later:

Izuku stood tall on the wall to the capital of Order, looking over the horizon. His wife's carriage was leaving, heading back to her homeland. She was here on a routine visit, and couldn't stay long, and it was always nice to see her. He sighed, heading back inside as the moon rose over the ocean. However, before he left, Izuku heard the thunder of new hooves. Getting back to the parapets, he noticed it was a messenger from Archidonis. As he approached the wall, the green haired prince called down to him, projecting his voice for the other man to hear. "What is the news?"
Out of breath, he called back. "I have to warn the royalty of Order!"

The panic in his voice alerted Izuku, and he quickly turned to the guards stationed on the wall. "Open the gate! Let him through!"

Without hesitation, the men began to move, using the pulley system in order to bring the gate up, allowing for entry. "Right away!"

Izuku rushed to the palace, meeting up with the messenger and bringing him inside. He was out of breath when he arrived in the throne room. A tad undignified Izuku's parents were not there, but Izumi and Izuko were.

He panted, the messenger's age catching up with him as he searched for signs of the other Archidon royalty. "Is... Is Lady Ochako still here?"

Izuku informed the messenger of what just happened. "She just left before you arrived..." Horror crept into his voice as he asked the pivotal question, "Why?"

The worst news was just around the corner. "There's... an uprising in the capitol. Lord Orech couldn't stop them... They've been executed by the rebellious faction. They've taken control, and if Lady Ochako gets there..." To be frank... worrying things had been brewing in the southeastern countryside for a while now. Rumors of illegitimacy and the like, that Ochako wasn't related to the hero of old, putting the whole family line into question. Ridiculous considering she was a spitting image... although he couldn't say that without revealing that somehow, he had come to this time period either.

Regardless, It seems whoever started those rumors finally put a plan into action.

Eyes wide, he knew exactly what the result would be. Turning to his sister, he started to plan. "Shit... Izumi, warn Mother and Father. Izuko, get the guard ready, we must be ready for attack..."

Izuko, annoyed at being given orders, called for him to stop. "What are you doing? Where are you going?!"

Not looking at him, and rushing towards the royal stables, he called back. "I'm going to warn my wife before she reaches the Archidonis."

Izumi nodded, and exclaimed "Right!" before moving to commence the order, while Izuko couldn't blame him for that choice of action.

With no other complaints, they rushed to do what Izuku said, knowing none of them could afford to waste time.

Izumi ran to her parents room. It's where they had been seen last, and knocked on the door. "Come in!"

She entered, finding her parents enjoying a glass of wine together. While mildly jealous at their current situation, having had her potential matrimony with "I'm sorry for disturbing you, but a messenger from Archidonis has reported terrible news. Orech was overthrown in a violent revolution."

"What are the state of our defenses?"

Izumi gave a succinct report, "Izuko is mustering them ready, while Izuku is rushing to stop his wife from arriving at Fletcher's Rest."

Williina sighed, massaging her temple a bit, "Good. Thank you for warning us... I've got a bit of a headache, but can you tell Izuko this wine he brought us was good?"

"If that is what you wish, mother. I hope you will recover."

Smiling back, "Thank you, Izumi."

Izuku pushed his horse to the maximum they could go. It was named Thunderbolt, due to the streak of white from the middle of his head to his tail, and his sheer speed, and now, Thunderbolt was thundering towards Ochako. In the distance, he could see the carriage... approaching rapidly, he called out to the driver. "Can you stop?" He didn't hear him. So, Izuku rushed in front of the carriage, forcing them to halt.

"Prince Izuku?! What are you...?"

The last part remained unsaid as he called out, "I need to talk with my wife. It is urgent!"

Not wanting to refuse, he nodded, before nodding to his fellow escort. "Of course." The man hopped down, and took the reigns of Izuku's horse as he hopped down, and ran to the carriage. Opening the carriage door, Ochako was relieved when she saw it was him. "Oh, it's just you, Izu..."

"A messenger arrived after you left. You can't go back to Uravity's Grace."

Confused, she asked, with growing concern in her voice. "Why not? The capital is the..."

Izuku hesitated for a second, before delivering some of the most painful news he could to his wife. "Lord Orech and the queen were executed in a violent coup against your family. You can't go back."

Shock lined her features as the words sunk in. "What...? What about?"

"Everyone who was royalty was butchered. You will die if you go there."

"Will Edmund and Erren die?" She referred to the two outside.

"Probably not. I don't know." And that was the long and short of the issue.

After a pause, thinking about what to do next, she sighed, meeting his eyes with a determination of her own. "Alright, I'm coming back, but I need to make a stop first."

Not sure what the plan was, "Where?"

"I want to talk with the Seer again."

"The Seer of Inamorta? Why?" While Izuku knew of the Seer, and her useful advice and predictive capabilities... they'd never met in person. To be honest, she seemed more just one of those fortune tellers that one might find on the road. Hardly someone to take seriously... and yet, his wife did. In fact, the Uraraka royal line did as a whole, to the point where she was given a tower in their biggest port town, Archer's Reach, to the south. It wasn't far... but still within now enemy territory.

"Advice." When it was that vague... well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

With her now completely determined... there was no point fighting it. So, he'd go along, for her protection. "I see... It'll be faster if you ride with me on Thunderbolt."

The older servant called back, having been paying attention in the meanwhile. "He's right, milady. This carriage will be too slow."

Exiting, she looked to them, "Stay safe, Edmund."

"Thank you for your concern, milady. I will do my best."

As the carriage pulled away, towards the capital, Izuku helped his wife onto his horse. "Alright. Which way?" To be honest, Izuku never really paid the subject any mind. Something that was biting him now.

"South. We need to head to the mouth of the great river. She lives on an island at the delta." The specifics of her location something she never said before, to his recollection.

Getting seated, he took the reigns, and directed Thunderbolt in that direction. "Right. Let's get moving."

Izumi made it back to the wall, with Izuko looking over the defensive plans. "Our parents have been notified, and they have expressed their thanks for your wine suggestion."

If Izumi had been looking at him, she would've seen his eyes widen slightly, before returning to normal. "Well, I'm glad they are appreciative."

"Of course they are of gifts... What's the status?"

Becoming more serious, he gave a simple report. "Everything is prepared, but if we are put under siege, it'll be a difficult fight."

Of course a siege would be difficult. The farmland was all to the north, and they were stuck between a cliff and gold mines. With their port built to the south, there were little options should a siege truly occur. "I see... I hope Izuku succeeds with his goal."

Halfheartedly, Izuko agreed with her, giving her a wary glance. "So do I."

When they arrived at the mouth of the river, Izuku realized that getting to the seer would be dangerous. They would have to cross through the trading port of Archer's Reach... a trading port that primarily received shipments from Order, Westwind, and Pertland, as many other nations kept to themselves. However, with the new change in regime, came the new dangers for a princess of the old regime. Izuku spotted the problem immediately. "You're clothes... they'll give you away."

Ochako, however, was far more determined to push through. "Nevermind that. We're just passing through."

Izuku pulled out a large cloak from a pouch secured to the back end of Thunderbolt's saddle. He'd accidentally taken his elder brother's but it worked just fine for this purpose. They'll have to stop. "Here. Thunderbolt's too obvious... and everyone's heard of his reputation from my race a few years back. Use this to cover your dress."

Without complaint, she took the cloak. "Right."

He was relieved that she wore a slimmer dress, so that the cloak wouldn't look too obvious on her. Izuku hid Thunderbolt in a small copse of trees, patting his head and whispering to him. "We won't be long... just wait, ok buddy?"

The horse didn't understand the words, but seemed to not care. After Izuku left, it turned its attention to the grass under its hooves.

Izuku and Ochako entered the now enemy controlled city of Archer's Reach, navigating past the guards, and avoiding the attention of civilians. They eventually made it to the other side of the town with no issue. The Seer's tower rose high, perched on an island at the mouth of the river, with a single bridge connecting to the town. Carefully, they crossed the rickety wooden bridge and knocked on the door.

A powerful voice called out, her tones on the deeper side. "Come in!"

Ochako entered first, with Izuku holding the door. He then closed it behind them. Walking into the next room, he was greeted by a woman wearing an ornately woven blue, silver and gold robes. Her blond hair was long, and two angular bangs parted over her more angular head. Her voice was powerful and commanding as she recognized her visitors, "Ah, Young Ochako, it is good to see you again... although I do wish it was under better circumstances."

Bowing slightly, she reciprocated the greeting. "Same to you, Seer."

Finally turning to face the young prince, she acted... familiar. Smiling, she stated, voice clear to all. "Ah, it's as if it were yesterday when I first met young Izuku... it has been too long."

Looking to his wife, the green haired young man asked, hesitation in his voice. "What... is she talking about...?"

Ochako explained, glancing at the cleric. "Well, she has the memories from all her past lives... and uses them to help anyone who asks for it."

Whirling to face the Seer, he couldn't believe what he just heard. "Wait, past lives...? How did you know my ancestor...?"

She continued to study his face, starting to get lost in memories. "I was a mentor to him, long ago. Back when he trained to be a hero... ah, fond memories... You look just like him, you know..."

Putting the pieces together, plus the color scheme, the blond hair... he needed to confirm. "A mentor...? Who are you?"

Looking wistfully into the past, he answered the question, but it was something that seemed too good to be true. "Ah, the life I once led was named Toshinori Yagi... a name you probably would not know..."

Izuku couldn't believe it. I'm not alone? And Allmight was reborn in the Seer...? I've been mentally calling him a fraud for years... oh god, I'll never live that down. He whispered a name, recognizing that name immediately. "Allmight?"

The room was silent as Both Ochako and the Seer looked at him, shocked. After a moment, the blonde woman asked, voice wavering slightly, almost in disbelief. "You... you remember me?"

And Izuku was quick to offer proof. His most treasured memory of the first life, or rather, one of many. "I... It's me. You gave your quirk to me... I still remember everything, just, nothing after I..."

"What a grand day this is!" The Seer strode over and hugged him with the same exuberance . "I never thought I'd see you again. Lucky that you got to keep your appearance."

Ochako spoke up, asking the Seer with some excited trepidation, "Does this mean we're not alone, Seer?"

Breaking up the hug, Izuku asked, hope in his chest. "What do you mean, we?"

Ochako flushed, now solidifying that they really were having this conversation. "Well... I guess we're all the same. We both have our old memories."

"Indeed we do. And, by a twist of fate, you two got married in the end, or so I hear."

The pair's faces reddened with embarrassment before Ochako asked her, "So, I need some advice..."

Nodding, the Seer's mood turned somber. "Ah, yes. What to do next... The important thing is that if there are three of us, there are more. I believe many of our previous acquaintances are coming back... including Shigaraki."

Alarm ran through Izuku's veins, turning his heart cold with fear. Fighting him before was the hardest thing he'd ever done. Doing so again? Here? "Him?! But I killed him!"

Gravity laced the Seer's voice as she continued to speak. "It is just my opinion, but I believe he, through a combination of quirks, transcended death. It would not have been easy... but it's what I believe, especially after this coup..." He turned to Ochako, and gave the best advice for right now: "Head to Order. Help Izuku rally everyone he can. I believe the age of the discriminant nations will come to an end. There are enemies hiding in the shadows who are jeopardizing the future... and this division will leave us helpless to stop it."

With a nod, she "Right."

"If that's the case... we'll need the technologies from the other nations. We have some bow prototypes, but none of our people can really use them well."

"Indeed. Order's nature of philosophy will aid you greatly in this regard." Order may not have many people compared to the larger nations... but because of that, they adapted, they used science in conjunction with magic to advance far above the others. Many technologies were lost, but many were rediscovered. How advanced they were, on the other hand, was less than the modern world he missed.

"Do you know where the other..." Izuku searched for a term, then decided on the one that fit best: "resurrected are?"

With a nod, Yagi's new form walked over to a large book. It was old, labeled genealogies, before opening it to show family trees. They were well established. "I've been trying to keep track of the lineages... it is not easy... Koda, Tokoyami, Sato, and many of your descendants have been exiled to the uncharted places beyond No Man's Land... The Todoroki's now call themselves Magikill, Kirishima's now call themselves Speartons, Yaoyorozu's control Westwind, Pertland is controlled by Kaminaris, and Bakugos were reforged into Swordwrath." The last name was rather on point for Bakugo, in all honesty.

Izuku understood. Perhaps their old friendships can be reforged? Or at least alliances could be. "I can use my brother's connection to gain an audience with Westwind royalty. I'm not sure about the others right now, Order is a very small nation, often below their notice..."

Understanding as much, she closed the book, and turned back to him. "Then that is where you should start. I cannot help you, as I have no power except my position as Seer."

"You could come to Order."

Stroking her chin, she agreed that it would be a good idea, still the Seer had to refuse. "I could. I will wait for a little longer, though."

Knowing Allmight's stubbornness... there was no way to convince him at this point. "I see."

Looking out through a window, the Seer noted the time. "I think it is time for you to head home. Izuku, I heard about the mine incident. I am proud of you."

He smiled, then turned to leave, not wanting to leave his home for too long. "Thanks... sorry for believing you were a fraud for five years."

Laughing off that last remark, she turned to the young princess, last of her line. "Ochako, stay safe, and keep him from doing anything rash."

Smiling back, she answered quickly, "I'll try."

As they left, the Seer gave one last goodbye. "Best of luck to you both."

The trek back to Thunderbolt was not as smooth as to the Seer. Knights patrolled the streets, presumably after rumors of Ochako's presence here. Carefully, they navigated the streets, but just as they were about to leave the hamlet, one person recognized them. Creating a crowd, they pelted her with anything they could find... and Izuku could only shield her from so much.

"GET OUT OF HERE, YOU'RE NOT A TRUE ARCHIDONIS!"

"WE WANT OUR NATION TO PROSPER!"

"YOUR FAMILY BROUGHT RUIN TO US ALL!"

That, and many more greeted them as they rushed, followed by the knights. When they reached Thunderbolt, and left, there was nothing the Archidonis archers could do, as their town had only war horses, not thoroughbreds that could catch up to them.

Ochako, stressed as that made her, fell asleep from exhaustion. Izuku smiled at the sight for a moment, before focusing on the task ahead. Hopefully I can convince Father to send me as an ambassador to Westwind. This task I'm on is far more important than any inter-nation squabble.

He couldn't help but worry for the future of Inamorta, and the looming darkness the night seemed to forbode.

Chapter 7: Poisoning the Well

Chapter Text

Izuku and Ochako arrived back at the Order capital of Hero's Fall. He called up to the guards, "Can you let me through? It's me, Prince Izuku!"

Without hesitation, the gate slowly opened for them, and Izuku only got off Thunderbolt when he reached the main castle. Disembarking, he helped Ochako as Izumi ran to him, them quickly walking together as a different servant guided the horse back to the stables. "Thank goodness you two are safe. Where were you?"

"We took an alternate path. Ochako wished to visit the Seer."

Izumi nodded in understanding. Unlike he did, she took the Seer at face value. Perhaps that was the wiser course of action, in the long run, with what Izuku knew now. "That would make sense to seek guidance from her. C'mon. Time to get you to inside."

The three of them arrived into the great hall, empty due to their defensive preparations. "I'm going to check on our parents. Mother seemed to be suffering from a headache the last time I saw her."

After the long day... honestly, they both needed rest, just as she fell asleep against him. It was fortunate nobody else saw, or there might be rumors to spread. "Alright. I'll take Ochako to our chambers."

She nodded, as Izuku carried his now sleeping wife to their room. He set her down on the bed gently before he heard a piercing scream. Whirling around, he subconsciously activated his power to bolt to the source. In the end, dread filled his heart as he approached his parents' quarters. Inside... the source was clear: it was Izumi. She knelt before... Izuro and Williina, dead.

"How... how did this happen?!"

"I don't know. I just came to check on them, and they were like this when I arrived..."

Izuko arrived shortly after they did. When he saw his parents' corpses, he froze, save for his rapid breathing. Eyes wide, he didn't expect this at all. "What... what happened?"

"I don't know..." Izuku went to the nearest goblet, then brought it to his nose. Inhaling deeply, he smelled the wine... and something else. Putting it down carefully, he made his conclusion. While he did have some knowledge, this was his sister's domain. "They've been poisoned. This needs to be investigated as soon as we can. Izuko, get the guards." He turned back to Izumi. She was completely breaking down. Hugging her, he tried to console her, to little success. She remained trembling, worried for their future. Not unreasonable, as

When Izuko returned, they confiscated all of the tainted wine, with four of them bringing stretchers.

"Take that tainted wine to the court doctor. Tell him to analyze it for what poison was used. It will help in finding out where our assassin came from. Take... Mother and Father to be prepared for their funeral."

The head soldier lowered their head in reverence and grief. "As you say."

Izuku picked up the goblet again after they left. "I'm going to take this with them." He sighed, before turning to Izuko, "I know you haven't been the best brother, but can you try to help Izumi? Please?"

"No need to ask. It's what I should do."

"Thank you."

As soon as Izuku left the room, Izumi looked at Izuko with daggers in her eyes. "You..." Her tears flowed down her face. It was clear she put the pieces together, and definitely didn't like what she saw. "I know what you did. The poison was in the wine you gave them. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!" She got into his face, tears clearly running down her face, as she demanded the truth. "Why? You are the heir. You had nothing to gain from poisoning them..."

Given how emotional she was, the older man stood tall, smirking. Whatever she would do now, it wouldn't be rational... and perhaps he could use that to his advantage. "Not for much longer."

"What?"

"They were going to strip me of the heir title to one of you two." Explanation was so simple... so... true to who their parents were. And it was obvious why. Izuko was not a worthy heir, and everyone in the family knew it. Many nobles thought so too, especially after the mining disaster incident five years back.

"You..." In her emotionally unstable state, Izumi thought of the one solution to the problem. She grabbed a knife resting on the table and in a swift motion grabbed it and stabbed at him.

Barely holding her back, with genuine fear due to her adrenaline filled rage, Izuko called out. "GUARDS! GUARDS! THE MURDERER HAS REVEALED THEMSELVES!"

The armored guards ran into the room, and made the assumption, and took her away. The highest rank asked if he was ok. "I'm fine... I just wish things didn't turn out this way. Can you alert my brother to this development? He'll be with the Court Doctor at his laboratory."

"Right away."

Turning to face the window, to see the view over Hero's Fall, he sighed, giving one final command for the day. "I would like some time to myself, to think about all that has happened..."

"As you wish, my liege." He bowed, and got his troops to leave. What they didn't see was the sly grin on Izuko's face, as his ploy worked flawlessly.

Izuku waited as the doctor did his work. His name was Itarsi de Medici, and his uniform was reminiscent of an ancient plague doctor, albeit with more ornamental robes, representative of his station. "What's the verdict?"

The masked man turned to him, the white beak of his mask jutting out towards Izuku. His voice was slightly muffled due to the leather, but what he said was clear enough. "Well, the person who made this..." he gestured to the golden goblet with a gloved hand, "Was either incompetent... or really wanted them to suffer. The guards believe that the poisoning happened around the time Izumi checked on them, but my tests have determined that it would have to have been given much earlier. She reported headaches?"

"Yes."

"Then that proves that she had nothing to do with this."

While it wasn't great news, at least his sister wasn't a suspect for this crime. "Really?"

The doctor moved to another instrument, designed to extract the poison from wine. It was a long and thorough process, and was still going. "Yes... this concoction is made with a spattering of poisonous plants... Nightshade, Devil's Tongue, Deathroot... mixed with no rhyme or reason... at least in appearance. More tests will need to be done to determine if it really was a fool who made this poison."

Rubbing his chin as he observed the machine, the young prince "I see..."

Just then, a guard arrived, calling for his name. "Prince Izuku?"

Turning to the guard, he asked, curious as to why he was here. "Yes?"

The man hesitated, before delivering even worse news. "Princess Izumi has been arrested for treason."

Izuku couldn't hold back his shock. Approaching the man, he demanded to know, "On what charges?!"

Not used to this pressure, the guard stammered his response. "Th-the poisoning of Lord Izuro and Lady Williina, my liege... and the attempted murder of Izuko."

Frantic, he asked the guard, "Where is she, the dungeon?"

"Y-yes."

"I'll be right there." He turned to the Doctor as he strode towards the other exit. "Please continue your research. I want to know as much as I can about that poison, and proof that Izumi was not involved."

The Plague Doctor bowed theatrically, his wide brimmed hat shielding his eyes. With a grave voice, one full of determination to help, he accepted the order. "As you wish."

Izuku didn't wait and rushed to the prison where his sister was now kept.

Izumi waited within the cell, crying when Izuku found her. "Izumi?! Are you alright?"

Sitting against the wall, she sniffled, collecting herself as she tried to speak the truth. "No... I know he did it... but I wasn't strong enough..."

"Who?" It was a question they both knew the answer for.

"Izuko. He killed them. It was his wine."

Ever since the mining... accident... Izuku always had suspicions. After all, he was quick to get out of there, and... well... he was wenching at a brothel. That spoke more of a premature celebration than 'seeking comfort' from the trauma. Also with his view of how kings rule... and the fights he'd have with father... well, it was clear to them, anyhow. "That... would make sense... but you made the dumbest decision in that situation. I can try to help you... but Order won't be your home after this."

Curling up tighter, she looked away from the cell door, leaning her head against the stone wall. "I know... I'm already regretting it."

Still... with the proof on his side, "I can try to secure an exile. The law is clear, though. Even if you are found innocent by the court..."

Glaring towards him, she didn't want to be reminded of the current... predicament. "I know the law, Izuku."

With patience, he continued to speak. She needed someone on her side, and so, as the one good brother in the castle, he'd be that, Izuko be damned. "And so does Izuko. Look, when the Medici comes out with his findings, it will definitely exonerate you. You'll survive."

She pointed out another aspect of Orderian law, one that made her position even more tenuous. "But in this time of crisis, Izuko will ascend the throne in two days due to the Archidonis chaos right now."

"Making him ineligible as a suspect. God Damn it!" Izuku punched the bars out of frustration.

Standing up, she walked to him, rage replaced with building despair. "Even if... even if I win... where do I go? Most of the nations are hostile..."

Izuku listed out the options... striking them down as he realized their dangers. "Magikill, Spearta, Swordwrath, Archidonis... all dangerous, especially if they realize who you are. Westwind has an alliance with Izuko due to his marriage... that's dangerous as well, and will likely treat you badly should you be found. Your only options are Pertland or... beyond No Man's Land." Shaking his head, he knew the stories. He would not subject his sister to that. "No, your only option is Pertland. Nobody has ever come back from the alternative."

Cursing under her breath, she realized how few options she had left. At least in the civilised world. "Shit..."

Putting his hands through the bars to gently place them on her shoulders, he looked her in the eyes. "Whatever happens, I will support you. I won't break my promise."

She smiled for the first time since this morning, happy that her favorite brother would never betray her, "Thank you, Izuku."

Chapter 8: Ascension of the Traitor

Chapter Text

Izuku woke up the next day with Ochako hugging him. Given the events of yesterday, he certainly slept well. Giving her a quick kiss on the cheek, he got up without waking her, got dressed, and went to Doctor Medici first thing. The halls were far more grim than usual, mostly due to the  He wore his classic uniform, not turning to him when he entered the room, focused as he was on his work. Approaching the desk with a steady pace, he greeted the man. "Morning, Doctor."

Not turning away, he continued to scribble down his notes based off of some "Good morning, prince Izuku."

Looking over the book he was writing, he could understand the theory behind what he was scribbling, but the specifics didn't align with his understanding strengths. "Anything new?"

"About the poison? Only a couple of things. My initial belief was correct. An Idiot made this. The presence of Lavender and Honey extract confirms it, as those two tend to counteract the effects of other ingredients used."

Well, that eliminates half the charges. The other part... well... nothing could be done about them, save convincing the court to exile instead of... the worse alternative. "So Izumi could never have made that."

"Of course not. She was my brightest pupil, and would never have been capable of this... utter failure."

Sighing, he still had other issues to work with, but it was still one weight off his shoulders. "That's a relief."

Medici nodded, stating from a professional's perspective. "It is to me. Izumi would have used only Nightshade and Wolfsbane... and it would've killed more reliably."

"Her trial will be in three days, with the speed in which things are going."

After a moment of silence, for him to fully finish writing his notes, the older man closed the book, and glanced back at Izuku. "I will testify on her behalf. And give my scientific opinion." To be frank, many people didn't view advanced science with much merit. Especially with the Magikill being such a massive threat with their wizardry, science was seen as a dead end. A shame.

It was the offer enough that made him appreciative of the effort given in this instance. "Thank you. I have to attend to... to my parent's funeral arrangements."

Still steady in his gaze, the older man commented to him, offering encouragement. While not his student by any means, he was still important to the future of the nation, one way or another. And his sister spoke very highly of him. "I wish you well. It won't be easy to deal with the loss of your parents... but I know you'll overcome it."

Izuku was silent as he left the laboratory.

Izuko was speaking with a council of advisors when Izuku arrived at his father's study. Noticing his arrival, he waved away the advisors, with exception of one. One Izuku hadn't seen since the first time he entered that office. Still, the man was waiting for him. "So, you are here to discuss the funeral arrangements?"

"Yes."

"Good. They already built a small mausoleum... so that means all that's left is the ceremony itself..." They spent the rest of the day discussing the plans, until sunset, when they both agreed on the final funeral designs. It was a long, tedious process, that left both of them weary of each other. Sensing that all that could be accomplished, was, Izuko ended the meeting, "I'm glad we could come to an agreement, brother."

Or had tried to. Izuku had one last request, one that would be very unpopular with the current audience. "One last thing. I know Izumi is in prison, but she deserves to be at the funeral."

One advisor was immediately vocal. "She's the main suspect in their death!"

"The evidence does not point to her." Turning back to his brother, the younger prince stated, "You saw her break down last night. She attacked you out of anguish. Please... let her at least see the procession."

"Fine. She can be guarded and able to see near the wall..."

The curly haired prince interrupted. "I'll do it."

"You have to give the Eulogy." It was apparent why. After all, Izuku was the famous one, the more inspiring, especially with his emulation of the hero of old and his strength.

That, Izuku would have to put his foot down on. After all, he was the heir apparent. He was the next in line, their golden child, for all intents and purposes. If he can't fake the sorrow, then he can't be a king, simple as that. "No, you're the heir apparent. That has always been your job. I can keep her from doing anything, and you can look like the good son you never were."

The two stared at each other, trying to read each other... but they were at an impasse. Definitely more awkward with the tension between the two siblings, and the council of advisors caught in the middle. Only with an advisor's interruption did the tension diffuse somewhat. "If I may, Lord Izuko..." This time, the advisor spoke. "Perhaps Lord Izuku is attempting to see if the suspect will react differently to the fallout of their actions."

Thinking ahead for a second... he finally acquiesced. "Fine, you can watch over her. But one wrong move..."

"I'm not like you, I don't betray family." Izuku turned and left without another word. The advisors weren't sure what to make of that, but Izuko smoldered, eventually telling them to leave.

Izumi waited in the prison. Her once proud dress was covered in dirt, grime, and small strands of hay that littered the floor. She didn't care. She could hear footsteps, but paid them no mind until they called out to her. "Izumi."

"Izuku!" She got to her feet and ran over to the bars.

Good news first, to lift her spirits. "Doctor Medici said he'll testify on your behalf."

Though... it didn't as much as he'd hoped. Looking down, all she could think was: "It's good to know I have some friends out there."

"And I talked to Izuko about the funeral arrangements."

Bracing herself for terrible news, the young princess asked, "I'm going to miss it, aren't I?"

"No."

A smudge of hope reignited. "No?"

Quietly, the plan was told to her. Not the best, but certainly best that could happen at the moment. "I have arranged that you can see it from the outer wall. Not the best view, but... the best I could do. I will be with you."

Tears ran down her cheek, and she hugged him through the bars. "Thank you."

Reciprocating, he whispered back, completely honest. "Don't worry about it." The two talked well into the evening, until Izuku had to leave to get enough sleep for the day ahead. Parting with another hug, Izuku whispered as he left, more to himself, "I'm sorry I can't help you more than this..."

"That's fine. Just... don't let them die in vain."

When he woke up, the first thing he heard was the sound of rain. Not a torrent, but a gentle, mourning rain. Getting into muted attire, he put on a heavy cloak to shield him from the tears of heaven. He collected another to let Izumi have with. When he arrived at the cell, he nodded to the warden, who unlocked the door. "Hands forward."
She did as told, and manacles were placed on them. Tight, and constraining, it ensured that she wouldn't be able to leave. The warden nodded back to Izuku. "She's all yours, my lord."

"Thank you." Izuku replied stiffly, before guiding her up towards the ramparts. Just before they would be exposed to the elements, he helped fit her into his spare cloak. She thanked him and raised the hood.

Together, they ascended into the rain.

To Izuko's credit, the procession was heartfelt and somber. With the respect they deserved. The eulogy, while fake to those who knew him, looked and sounded mournful, and then the coffins were placed within the sarcophagi. When that was sealed, the procession left, careful to leave everything as it once was... but that would never be the case again.

The next day had torrential rain. Continuing from the day before. Today was not a day of mourning... but a day of celebration. At least that was what Izuko wanted to show the people.

Today was his coronation.

The throne room only held a single chair now. Izuku stood to its right... and he glanced to see an advisor from before. That should've been Izumi's spot. Trumpets sounded as Izuko entered the room, his procession following directly behind. Just before the throne, he stopped. Izuko turned back to the man just following him, and who picked up his father's crown from the carrier behind him, and gently placed it upon his head. "With the grace of those who came before, I bestow upon you, Izuko, descendant of the great Izuku, the Kingdom of Order. May you lead our people to prosperity, and with humility, just as your forefathers have done. Rise, take your throne, for you are now our Lord."

Izuko stood to full height, his golden simple crown contrasting with the rest of his complex robes. His long green hair contrasted with the red and gold. Izuku and the advisor bowed, as he approached and took his seat. Only then did they stand straight again. "As your new king, I decree that I will make this nation greater than what Izura did. I will extend his era of peace and prosperity!" The procession knelt before him as he spoke, lightning punctuating the final words.

All Izuku could think was how this would effect Izumi... and the world. Archidonis has a change in leadership, Izumi will be put on public trial for treason... Order is under the care of a manipulator... this is not going to end well.

Chapter 9: Trial of Innocence

Chapter Text

This was going to be a fudged trial, at least if Izuko could get away with it. The writing was on the wall, and everyone in the justice council wanted to be a part of the power the new lord now held. When he talked with a few of them, many brushed him off as not worth their time. The few that did sympathized with his position, but felt like they wouldn't have much of an impact.

Normally, a person would have the ability to speak for themselves... but in cases of treason, they are not allowed to, as to avoid any potential cases where magic could be uttered in the courtroom. There was precedent for this when a Magikill representative did just that and killed the presiding court. It put their relationship on rocky ground for a century, only repaired by their father. The point is, every word could be a lie, and that is where Izuku came in. He would defend her, be her voice.

The court was designed originally to be an amphitheater, but that was abandoned with Izuku's grandfather when he recommissioned it for public trials. The place had been in disrepair due to lack of use, so the recommissioning was welcome. The main stage held a ring of seats for the council, while the center held the suspect. In this case, that was Izumi. The stands were quiet as the trial began, as Izumi was brought forward. Everyone was discussing the events with each other until Izuko arrived. Everyone was silent as he sat in the place of prominence, at the head of the council, as the king was always the adjudicator.

"Everyone can sit down now... Let us begin... Izumi Midoriya, you have been accused of poisoning the previous king, and attempting to outright stab me with a knife, when I was but a prince. Who will be your defense?"

"I will!" Izuku strode out into the arena. He wore a simpler outfit than Izuko, but still cut a regal figure. He looked back, straight up defying the new King despite the death stare he received in kind.

With nothing else to say, Izuko continued on. "...very well. Prosecution, you can start up your argument!"

After the hour of argumentation, it was soon clear to Izuku... that it was a waste of time. The whole trial, anyways. The 'evidence' they provided was fraudulent at best, and a lie at worst. When the prosecution was finished, Izuko seemed content, but had to follow through with procedure, for now. "And what does the defense have to say in response?"

Izuku threw a bone to the rest, as there was no contesting the fact that she had attacked her brother with intent to harm, if not kill. "The first point, about the attack. I have spoken to Izumi. She does not deny this, and expressed regret that it happened." Pausing for breath, and for dramatic effect, he stated with complete confidence: "However, her reason for her actions becomes much clearer if we examine the evidence. Let us take a look at the poison itself, for it tells us much about the killer. I call forward Doctor Itarsi de Medici, the Royal Doctor, as my first witness."

The Plague Doctor strode into the sunlight, and bowed before the audience before him. "Good morning, everyone. I am Itarsi de Medici, Royal Doctor by official decree since the time of Ikuro, two generations ago." He stood tall, and reported his findings: "I completed intricate tests to isolate the ingredients of the concoction used to kill Izuro and Williina, may they rest in peace. A lot of natural herbs were used, combined in such a way that it was made clear that only one inexperienced, or rudimentary level knowledge of alchemical processes." Turning to view all, he continued, voice full of authority, "I have proof of this claim... for instance: The Dragon's Root, used in many poisons, was combined with Redferns, which is one of the few remedies for such poisons. It's the combination of ingredients such as this, poisonous ones which cancel each other out, which baffles me. I have trained both Izumi, and Izuku to a minor degree, in rudimentary alchemy at their father's request. They would have never been capable of making such blunders."

The Prosecution spoke again. "So, you trained them in alchemy and medicine? Would she have been able to fool you by creating this concoction?"

Shaking his head, the medical doctor declared outright: "No. She is actively fatally allergic to one of the non-lethal ingredients."

That made the king falter, only visibly. Not verbally, as he asked, both curious and not. "Which is?"

"Deadwood Flowers. When she tried to make a recipe with one, she went into shock, which I could only cure through a rare concoction of Poppyseed and Shadeflower, both expensive ingredients for this land." The former was often found in Westwind, while the latter... the latter was found from the forests beyond No Man's Land. While a small garden exists here with them, they don't grow well in the warmer climates Order is known for.

"I see... so if she had made the poison, she would have died?"

"Within minutes of touching the Deadwood Flowers, yes."

Understanding that much, it was at least enough to make him reconsider his strategy. "No further questions."

Izuku sighed, then thanked the Doctor, who bowed to him before leaving for his other duties. "With the Doctor's evidence, it is impossible for Izumi to have created the poison. But if it were that simple, why would she attack Izuko? She outright owns her actions... but that's because of what happened in the interim. Archidonis had a violent revolution, and I could not stay. Izumi checked on our parents, as the last to see them alive... and what she told me was staggering. Izuko was the one who gave them the wine. Whether or not it was poisoned then, or beforehand, I do not know, but it was her belief that Izuko poisoned the old King and Queen that made her act in that way. I had left to take Lord Izuro's goblet to Doctor Medici, and nobody, save Izumi and the newly anointed Lord Izuko knew what happened in that room. Izumi told me her side of the story, and her belief in his guilt, but Izuko has not... and cannot be prosecuted at this time. But this is not about him, this is about Izumi's guilt. She has done everything possible to serve Order... and now it's time to see if the law will execute, or exile her. I defer to your judgment, council..."

Izuku waited as they deliberated the evidence. Meanwhile, Izuko seethed, but put on a face of calm. "Alright, the prosecution, and the defense, have made their claims. All of those in favor of execution?" Only a few hands rose, but all of the rest rose when he asked: "And those in favor of exile?"

After scanning the arena, he sighed. Sitting tall, the new king proclaimed for all to hear: "The will of the council is clear. Izumi Midoriya, you will be exiled, and your title as princess of Order will be stripped from you. That is all."

After the trial, Izumi had been given one day to leave, and she decided to spend it with Izuku and Ochako. Walking through the town, she murmured. "Thank you for all you did for me, Izuku..."

Smiling sadly, he explained that he did what his duty as a brother required of him. "That was going to be a predetermined vote for execution if I didn't. I couldn't live with doing nothing, especially not with you on the line."

Glancing out in the direction of the mausoleum, she asked the two of them, something they both would understand immediately. "Before I go... I want to visit them... properly..."

"Of course, we'll do that in the morning."

She nodded. Ochako gave her a hug. "You're not alone. We'll try to help as much as possible."

"What do I do though? Make my way to Pertland?"

With a sigh, Izuku looked out the window, over the city of Hero's Fall. It was beautiful this time of day, especially with the sun breaking through the clouds. "Unfortunately that's the only thing I can think of. It's the only nation that is truly neutral in the world as it is now."

"Alright... for now, I'll enjoy the last few hours we'll have together... at least for a while..." Izumi tried to smile, but it was more of a grimace.

Ochako smiled, and agreed, mainly because Izuku couldn't voice those words himself at the moment. "Yes, let's try to have some fun."

Chapter 10: The Dusk of Peace

Chapter Text

The morning was more gentle, as the storm which raged yesterday evening was almost through, as a gentle rain woke Izumi. She sighed, preparing herself mentally for the journey ahead, and picked out her most durable clothes. It would be all she could bring, and all she would wear... the only jewelry she brought was a sun and moon pendant, the last thing her parents gave her before... well... she swallowed her pain, and wiped away a tear. A knock sounded at the door. Getting to her feet, she opened the door to find Izuku waiting there. "Is it almost time?"

Looking down for a second, he confirmed that. "You have an hour left."

"Very well..."

She got prepared quickly, then exited her room for the last time. Slowly straightening the sheets, and closing the wardrobe... she wouldn't ever wear any of these again. Some of these were her favorites... but they'd be far too conspicuous on the road. The last thing she needed was to be taken hostage on the road, only for the bandits to find out she was worthless.

However, Izuku told her not to worry about them. "Don't worry about these... I'll keep them ready for when you return."

"When I return?"

Crossing his arms, he made a quick analysis of their brother's ruling style. "Izuko is going to ruin Order over time. Just based on his attitude alone. I'll try to get kingship then, and I'll pardon you of everything."

"Really?!"

Looking into her eyes, just so she could see his sincerity, he agreed. "I'll try my hardest, Izumi. I will never break our promise."

Izuku and Ochako led Izumi to the sarcophagi... and she walked up to them, tears forming on her face. The married couple decided to leave her alone during this emotional moment, and waited outside the structure.

She was never close with their father. None of them really were, but as the only daughter, Williina and her had been very close. She fell to her knees, draping her left arm over the carved visage of her mother. Weeping, she spoke to it. "I'm sorry... I failed you both... and Izuko got the better of me." With shaking legs, she got to her feet, and solemnly promised, "I will make you both proud, and hold Izuko to account. That, I promise."

The three walked to the gate, Ochako broke the silence by wondering aloud, "So... Pertland, huh? You'll have to send a letter telling me what it's like."

A small smile forming, because of the cheerfulness and levity of the topic, even if it did border on what was her melancholic future. "I will."

Ochako hugged her first, crying in response to the fact that she wouldn't see her for the foreseeable future. "I'm sorry this happened. If my family didn't get deposed..."

Izumi replied back, her voice sorrowful, but understanding. "No, it's not your fault, Ochako... It's mine for lashing out. I'm just reaping the consequences."

"Well, please send us letters to know where you are. We will both miss you."

"Thanks, Izuku." She gave him one big hug, which he returned wholeheartedly. "Stay safe."

Holding on for a moment longer, to ingrain this into his memory, he muttered, loud enough for her to hear. "I will try. Same to you."

They let go, as the gate opened. A guard had seen them and known what was happening immediately. Ochako offered some last minute advice, as the green haired girl started to leave. "If you need advice... go to Archer's Reach. Meet with the Seer. Tell them that I sent you, and she will help you."

"Thanks..."

Izuku watched her leave as long as he could before the gate was closed again, sealing him off from her. This was the last time he would see her for a long time.

Izuku wandered back with Ochako, thinking about what to do. When he reached his father's old study, he entered. His wife followed, not having seen this particular room. "What is this place?"

He explained, gesturing to every part of the room. "This was my father's study. All important business was conducted here... Our marriage was probably organized in this room."

"Wow..." She looked over the shelves, seeing all of the different manuscripts, only stopping once she saw Izuku's old mask. Eyes wide at the artefact, she looked down at it. "Is that...?"

"Yep. My mask from when I defeated Shigaraki..." Izuku was curious on what his father did, so he opened one of the desk drawers, and found a letter. It was addressed to him, but undelivered. What were you up to?

Seeing him look at the paper with intent, his wife strode to his side. "Did you find something?"

"Yeah... Father was writing something addressed to me..."

"Can you read it aloud?"

Clearing his voice, he complied with his wife's request. "Izuku... I know we have not had a great bond, but this letter is of great importance. Izuko is clearly not the best heir. I've expressed this sentiment to Orech himself, but I need you to know this. My intention is to remove him from his title as heir. As the next in line, you would be the one to become king. My office has many secrets, many of which can get Izuko away from the throne, even if he is already on it. I implore you to find them and bring them to light. I believe he has already tried to kill me once, and will try again. That being said, I wish you luck. I believe that you can unify our people best. Izumi is a great sister and advisor, but she does not desire the throne, neither of you do... so I can only wish you the best of luck. Sincerely, Izuro, your father."

That last part alone led to many more questions than answers. But why did you accept the wine...? Did you underestimate him, or were you of the opinion he would be more brash with it?

Ochako noted what it was clearly implying. "It seems that Izuro didn't want Izuko to get the throne... this could devastate his reign. If the people knew..."

Shaking his head, as if to clear the mystery away, he stated the obvious. "Yeah... but until I can find what father left behind, then there is nothing we can do..."

The duo were interrupted by a guard calling out to them. "Pardon my interruption, but Izuko is wishing to speak with you, prince Izuku."

Looking to the guard who had interrupted their crucial work, he had no choice but to go along with it. Handing the paper to his wife, Izuku asked. "Very well. Ochako, can you look through this study for a bit?"

Glancing around at the sheer volume of text and papers... she nervously replied. "I'll try... but you're better at this than I am."

Giving a quick peck on the cheek, to snap her out of the emotion, "I will try to return as soon as possible."

When Izuku arrived in the throne room, Izuko's workspace of choice, all he held was annoyance for his elder brother. "Why did you need me, Izuko?"

Glancing over from discussing with an advisor, one tall, dark with a imperious look to him, the newly coronated king gave his orders. "We have been hearing reports of Archidon activity on our borders. I want you to head out and personally check to see if they're accurate."

"Very well... It's the western village, Lookout, right?"

"Yes."

"I won't be gone long."

"Thank you. This can allow me to focus my attention inward." What that attention would be focused on, however, was left up to the imagination... and it didn't sound pleasant, at least to Izuku.

The younger prince nodded, then left the throne room. He missed his brother's sly smile.

Izuku returned to the study, and spoke as soon as he entered the room. "Uraraka, I must depart to the village of Lookout. I will return in two days."

"Why?"

"Reports of Archidon movement in the area. If true, I am to send for reinforcements. If not, I'll return home."

"Stay safe..."

"I will." He looked back at his old mask, contemplating. If he could get any advantage, perhaps he could passively gain leverage against his brother. One of the first ways would be to

"What is it?"

"With father gone, and Izuko not using his study, I want you to claim it for me while I'm gone."

"Alright. I'll talk with Izuko about it."

"Good. In the meantime... I'm taking this to the armorer... I have a set of plate armor, and wish to integrate it into the design."

"Really?!"
"Yes. I will leave before it's done, but I want the design to reflect who I am."

"You can leave it to me, if you really need to go."
"I need to get a weapon from the smith anyway. Just please focus on the study, for now."
"Ok."

He hugged her, then pecked her on the cheek. Ignoring her blush and small -eep- noise, he whispered teasingly. "I'll be back before you know it."

As he left, the brunette huffed, before smiling, "You..."

Izuku arrived at the blacksmith's forge, seeking the head of the institution: Ygruid. He was an expert ever since Izuku could remember, and so he went straight to him, waiting as he focused on creating a shield. He was hammering it, sculpting it into a work of art that could save a knight hundreds of times... then using tongs, he quickly dipped it into water, avoiding the steam that billowed forth. Resting it on a table, he let it cool further when he noticed Izuku's arrival. "Ah, prince Izuku, what can I do for ya?"

"I would like for my armor to be redesigned."

"Hm... in what way?"

"One that fits with this." He gave him the mask.

"This... this is the original Izuku's mask... you want an armor that will be reminiscent of that?"

"Yes."

A gleam in his eye at being given such a monumental task, he puffed up his chest. "I will do what I can."

"Thank you. Also, do you have a weapon I can use? I want to be prepared just in case."

"We have a variety of maces here..."

"Are they the only weapon type you have?"

"Other weapons we used to have... swords, bows... our people have long forgotten how to use them. Or make them, in the case of swords and spears." The blacksmith was clearly unhappy, especially given the creation aspect of them. Oh, they could make swords and stuff, but not to the degree that the Archidonis or Swordwrath could with their respective favored weapons. They would be too brittle, and wear down too fast.

"I see..."

The man nodded, his beard not hiding his disappointment well. "It makes our defense that much harder."

"I understand. I'll take..." He pondered over the options, then took a simple one from the weapon rack. It was strong, hefty, and presumably wouldn't break with his strength. Nodding, Izuku looked at the blacksmith with hope. At least to see well made armor. "This one... I'll look forward to your new armor."

Smiling, Ygruid laughed. "And I to finishing it!"

Chapter 11: News from Lookout

Chapter Text

Izuku got onto his horse, and approached the gates. They opened, and he was half expecting to see Izumi... but then somberly remembered that she left. Determined, he urged Thunderbolt onward, riding as quickly as he could toward the village that required his help. The Forests turned to fields as he reached the edges of the Northern farming territory and their crossroads with Archidonis, eventually reaching Lookout. The town overlooked a cliffside, with Archidon territory on the other side of the river snaking past the bottom of the cliff. From this high vantage point, one could see the Archidon Statues dotting the landscape. They believed that having their nation's founder at the gates of their cities, that they would be protected... but the nations of the Swordwrath, Magikill, and Speartons also believed in the same, so they did exact same thing. Warfare revolved around the breaking of the enemy spirit, as without siege weapons, there was no way to break down the walls... and the fastest way to do that was to bring down those statues. Order never adopted this philosophy... but the fringes that were shared with Archidonis did share some of the similar superstitions, so it came as no surprise when Izuku saw a statue of his old self in front of the village. Observing it, and how it made him look way better than he was, the greenette was greeted by the local guards. The leader greeted him, "Ah, Prince Izuku! Have you come to inspect the defenses?"

Turning to face them, he nodded. "And to see if the reports are true about the Archidon incursions."

He stroked is grey beard, and beckoned him inside, "Oh, they are... c'mon in!"

The village was quaint, and not one for formalities, being as close to the warring nations as they were. Even in the presence of royalty, as the head guard, Adwin explained to him. They brought him to the town garrison, where there were 2 Archidons in a cage. Although, they weren't quite like normal people on closer inspection.

Adwin reported, gesturing to them. "These two were caught crossing the border, heading towards the capital. Seeing the state of affairs, I assume there are more. It's strange. They usually don't trust Anihearted people with anything, from my experience."

Anihearts. From what he could tell, they were just people with Animal quirks, or the few that survived the ancient conflict he fought with Shigaraki. They considered themselves separate from humanity, with good reason, but Izuku knew, fundamentally, they weren't. However, this was the first time he'd seen one, as they were rare in Order, not residing in the Capitol, but north to the farmlands. Or, at least the few that did live in the nation. "Can you let me speak to them?"

He gave them a glance, stroking his greying beard again. "Sure, if you want to. You're in charge here, not me."

"Sorry, I'm used to... well..."

Adwin reassured him, "Don't worry about it, kid."

Izuku approached the two of them. They were children, roughly his age. They both had black hair, and both siblings had what appeared to be fox ears and tails. Both had gold-brown eyes, similar to Ochako's, and the boy got in front of the girl when Izuku approached. He knelt down to their level. Gently asking, "Who are you?"

They refused to answer. The girl was terrified, while the boy was resolute, placing himself between Izuku and his sister. A tang of pain crossed his heart, especially considering he'd just been effectively forced from his sister due to Order law. Privately, he promised not to separate these two in the same manner. Again, he asked gently, "I will ask again, who are you?" They remained silent. Sighing, he stated, "If you don't talk, then I can't help you."

The boy was insistent, defying them, "How could you help us?!"

Izuku sighed, explaining to them directly, "I am in charge here."

The boy didn't buy it. Not that the prince blamed him, by any means, but still, he could show a little hesitation. "But... you're our age!"

Waving it away, he stated that, "It's fine if you don't believe me... if you don't want to tell me your names, that's fine. However, I must know, why did you cross the border heading into Order?" Still, nothing but silence. While this was commendable, it did limit the options available for them. So, pressing on, he asked rhetorically, knowing that they clearly weren't part of any Archidonis aggressions, "Are you part of a scouting party?"

"What..." Confusion lined their features, as he asked that. Clearly, it was not what they thought they were captured for.

Izuku asked, voice gentle, yet firm. "Are you going to threaten my country?"

The two were both in horror. This question alone meant that they were being held for potentially being a pair of saboteurs, not just for crossing the boarder without just cause. That would have dire consequences if they didn't clarify it immediately, something the girl understood. "What?! NO!"

The original question, one he had been leading the two to, could finally be asked once more. Perhaps with a different outcome. "Then why are you here?"

The black haired boy was frantic, trying to prove their innocence. "We're trying to escape Archidonis!"

Izuku was relieved that they didn't want to attack his homeland, "Thank you for finally answering the question. Why would an Archidonis need to escape their country?"

"Because they enslaved our family!"

Izuku was surprised, but then reflected on the nature of the events in Archidonis. The new king is enslaving their own citizens...? He mused, rubbing his chin. So these agitators, the ones who butchered Ochako's family... "So... people are being enslaved, and are escaping the nation to avoid that fate?"

"Yes! We can't go to Spearta, because they do the same."

"What about the Swordwrath?"

"They treat outsiders worse than any other nation!" Okay, that was true. Nevermind the deserts, both hot and frigid, the people were far more abrasive than their environs when it came to them. Logical to not even think of going there.

"Ok... I understand your situation, but you have to try the legal way."

"That requires money... we'd never be able to pay. What are you, a noble or something? You don't understand how the world works!"

"Bold words for speaking back to a prince." Izuku spoke calmly. He smiled gently as the two of them realized with horror what the boy had done.

The girl hugged her brother, fear clear in her voice as she pleaded with him: "Please, don't hurt my brother, he was just protecting me!"

"You can do what you need to, but please, leave my sister alone!"

Izuku actually facepalmed, the leather of his gloves meeting his skin as he closed his eyes. It was frustrating to deal with these two, and the reason why was absolutely warranted. These two assume the worst... not that I blame them... Interrupting any further pleas, he spoke clearly.

"Calm down, I'm not going to do anything, so please, calm down." Given their circumstances, the duo went silent immediately. "Listen, you're just running refugees... I can free you. Just tell me your names and if you know anything..."

The boy sighed, knowing he couldn't do anything, "My name is Ain. This is my sister Aun. We are Foxhearts. When the last king was overthrown, the new one started enslaving my people... We barely got away..."

"I see..."

"The Archidon forces are moving this way. Not because they were chasing us... but because they want Order."

Izuku thanked him and went back to Adwin, "This new information is concerning... and it proves what we knew. Orech's death was the end of the treaty with Archidonis... and they will take advantage of that."

Adwin replied back, having stayed near the door. "I'll get a messenger to report back. Get reinforcements for our border garrison here."

"If I know Izuko, he won't care about that, but his own safety instead. We'll be forced to fend them off. Send for them anyway." Having the message of trying to get help was certainly going to put him in a better light by the time the fighting came.

"Right, my lord."

"What will happen to those two?"

Turning back, "What do you want to happen? Izuko would execute them if he knew."

"I know... They will be my assistants. I need to talk with them before it's official."

The man completely understood. Better to gain information and service willingly if possible, and they seemed like a good route in that endeavour. Especially for those as down on their luck as them. Give the carrot over the stick, and they'll be far more loyal than through fear. Not that the guard commander was thinking that far ahead. "Right."

Izuku walked back to the cage the twins were kept. "Alright... I have a deal for you."

"What is it?" The two were still terrified, but wary of anything too good to be true.

"I will get you out of here... but you will serve as my assistants."

"Assistants?" They were confused by the word, sophistic as it was, and came to different conclusions based on what they believed that would mean for them. The boy was fearful, while the girl, a mix of fear and... something else.

"Just those who help me out. Just think of it as a job. You have to had useful skills if you were to get here and survive. I don't want lives to be wasted, and it's the only thing I think can protect you from my brother's wrath. He... doesn't view Anihearts with great respect..." It was a failing that Izuko picked up from nobles he interacted with, not their parents, thankfully. Many of Izuro's best knights were Anihearts, but they didn't show off their particular adaptations.

Turning to him, there was hope for the first time within her eyes. "Brother... this could be the perfect chance!"

Looking back to his sister, he was still in some denial about this choice. "I know..."

Turning to him quickly, Aun answered immediately, "We accept!"

Ain complained, miffed that he was being spoken for, instead of denying wanting it. "Hey!"

His sister reiterated the point. With a little nod towards someone he loved, which while they didn't catch that, made Izuku smile on the inside. "Do you want to stay here any longer?! He's offering us shelter, safety, and food for Hero Uraraka's sake! He's a prince!"

Ain couldn't counter those points, and Izuku smiled. "Alright... I'll be sending you back with the messenger... but you'll have to take this." He pulled out a cloth. It was black, red and green with a coat of arms intricately woven into it from golden thread. "Take this with you for proof of passage. You will report to my wife, Ochako, ex-princess of Archidonis. She does take after the hero you revere."

They bowed their heads, which only made them seem more servile while kneeling in the cage. What they said next would've made the old him do a spit take, but after 14 years of being trained as royalty... he took it as the confirmation he was looking for. "Of course, master."

Still the moniker of 'master' was a bit much. Izuko would've loved it. "You don't have to..."

The young Foxhearted girl replied with a calm sincerity. "We owe our lives to you. Calling you anything else... insulting."

The boy agreed, now fully on board, "As much as I want to disagree, Aun is right..."

"We can talk about formalities later. Right now..." He waved at Adwin, who opened the cage for him and removed the shackles. "You are now officially a part of Order. Go with the messenger. Take Thunderbolt if they won't give you a horse."

Standing up, they bowed once more, stating one last time: "Thank you, Master."

He didn't say a word, but smiled gently as they left, following the messenger to Hero's Rest. I hope she doesn't mind a new handmaiden. I'll probably train Ain to be a squire. But the future is not safe yet... the only defense we have now... is to attack first.

Chapter 12: War Begins

Chapter Text

The night was long, and restless... but Izuku managed to get some sleep before the noise of war preparations woke him up, and a good thing too. The towers of the fortress town he was now residing were at full alert, having spotted something in the distance. There was Archidon movement to the north, an attempted maneuver to gain access to the farmlands, cutting Order in half in a straight shot, as there weren't any forests between them and their target. Only a copse of trees or two, a battlefield that favored the invaders substantially.

Izuku quickly made a speech as he arrived at the garrison. "We have to defend our homeland from this incursion! I will go ahead with an expeditionary force, while you all prepare to counterattack from the flank! It's our best option, and if we don't succeed, the Archidons will hunt us down!" The soldiers cheered as he yelled the last few words. "To Arms! To Battle!"

The soldiers cheered as he picked out his force. A few veterans plus a few new soldiers, to temper wisdom with experience. He left the main reinforcements to Commander Adwin. As they galloped, they could see the Archidons slowly advancing. At this rate, they'd reach the farmlands just before dawn, but would be put off by the rising sun from the east. Why would their commander make them attack at that time?! Are they an idiot? But if this plan is to work, we'll have to attack at night, to avoid the same fate with the flanking troops!

Izuku ordered the force to set up a temporary garrison, with a row of spears to stop any forward momentum. A temporary "statue" was put up to change their primary target, and they were ready. "Alright, our main goal is to buy time. As long as the fake statue is up, they'll go straight for it. So, we'll defend it until our reinforcements arrive!"

The small force understood the strategy at work, they understood their role, and its importance. "Good, now let's see what they do..."

When the Archidons saw the statue, they immediately stopped, consulted amongst themselves, and started building their own statue. In disbelief now that he actually saw this happen, Izuku couldn't help but ask: "Are they serious right now?"

A veteran by the name of Hughes commented to him, "Aye, they are. That's how warfare is conducted between the other nations."

"I know the theory, project strength through icons of heroes old and their borne weapons... but it's still the dumbest thing I've ever heard." It truly was. However... Izuku theorized that it may, in part, be due to the deification of heroes of old. When Allmight retired, he had a statue in his honor. Why wouldn't he after beating Shigaraki? Why not the others, like Ochako, Bakugo... and the rest? Their genealogies can be traced all the way back here. He conceeded that this tradition wasn't without its merits. Especially for him. "But... this strategy wouldn't work without it."

Looking over the enemy's efforts, his new left-tenant asked quietly: "How much longer do you think they'll be, sir?"

Looking at how they built the statue... he just couldn't believe it. "They're actually putting detailing onto it... why?! Don't they realize this is war?" Shaking his head, he was about to comment again when Danger Sense went off, an ability he hadn't felt since his last life. Dodging to the side, an arrow lodged into the grass right behind where he would've been standing. That would've killed him if he didn't move when he did. Now more serious, he told the others, "Right. They're already sending over troops to harass us. Protect yourselves, I'm going to take care of that archer."

"But, sir..." It was a hell of a risky move, and they all knew it.

Still, he was the only one that had a chance of going against these archers in the dark. With One for All's reflexes, and Danger Sense now returning, there was little they could do to him. "Do as you are commanded! Hughes, I place you in temporary command!"

"Aye sir!"

Turning back, he started running towards the lone Archidon, mace drawn behind him. They laughed, drew their bow, and fired. Izuku dodged that arrow, narrowly avoiding the shot. Annoyed, they aimed and fired another. Izuku dodged that one as well, closing the distance with each stride. Annoyance turned to panic and desperation, which made the archer's fire rate increase, but also his aim more sloppy. In the next leap, Izuku was right in front of the Archidon. It was too late for him as he swung his weapon. It proved effective against the metal helmet, crushing the head within as the Archidon was thrown to the side, dead by the time he hit the ground. Izuku gave a quick glance back, able to see his comrades assembling properly, before turning back in time to barely avoid another arrow to the head. Two of them had come to reinforce their comrade too late, and now he had to move. They staggered their shots, making him have to dodge and move forward.

He took down the two just like the first. The Archidon force was still trickling forward. If they were to break their spirit, now is the time.

He turned back to his forces and shouted to them a direct order, the declaration of formal war. Although, to be frank, their incursion was declaration enough. Still, with his voice clear for all to hear, he called out: "ORDER, ATTACK!"

Veteran Hughes watched as his lord took down the three Archidons without a scratch. Most knights would've taken at least three arrows, either to their shield, or to their body. He couldn't help but note his opinion on it to his second in command. "His reaction time is incredible..."

Nodding, his friend agreed with the assessment, eyes wide with disbelief, "It is... you can't help but respect him for his effort..."

Then, they were interrupted by Izuku shouting to them, the signal to turn the tide. "ORDER, ATTACK!"

Hughes immediately leapt into action. Rallying his forces, he stood at the front, like most good commanders do. "ALRIGHT MEN, THIS IS OUR TIME TO DEFEND OUR HOME! NOW, WE CHARGE TO KEEP THEM OCCUPIED! ATTACK!"

Each of them shouted, eager to follow the example of their, in their mind, was a true leader.

Izuku raced towards the enemy statue. He just had to distract them long enough to allow his reinforcements to cut off the camping force. The Archidons fired at him, but his reflexes, speed and strength tore through their force like a hurricane. Nothing stood in his way, it seemed. His armor, best in the kingdom, deflected arrows, while their armor did nothing to protect them from the blunt mace Izuku used. It only cushioned the impact slightly, being cloth armor and gambeson, but Izuku's strength overpowered that resistance.

When he was done with the archers in front of him, he looked back at the statue, to find a row of them waiting behind makeshift fortifications. They had him pinned, and he was tired from the fight. It was the first time he fought properly, even with a fraction of his power, in over a decade, and it showed. He grit his teeth, and prepared to take on the threat. At this range, the arrows would punch through, regardless of where they hit. He would be injured, and captured. They would ransom him, embarrassing the nation and forcing the eldest brother to capitulate... under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, Izuku knew the real Izuko was. It was what he wanted right now. He wouldn't help him. So, he'd be executed, and Izuko would be safe on the throne, well, until the new leader of Archidonis knocked at his door.

However, the shouts of his men charging into battle filled him with determination, and he pressed forward. Not expecting the new force, the Archidons fired at whoever they could, and failed to focus on Izuku, the biggest threat. He leapt at the statue, smashing into it directly with his mace. The soft stone it was made of crumbled, and shattered to pieces as the main part fell to the side.

After witnessing the statue fall, the Archidon force surrendered. It was fortuitious, because their force was much larger than their own, and could have easily rallied if they chose. The only condition of their capitulation was that they be treated fairly, which Izuku agreed with. It was time to learn what Archidonis under the new leadership was really up to.

Chapter 13: Meeting Commander Aridorn

Chapter Text

Commander Aridorn waited in the Veneraxion Gaol. He and his men were all confined to this one dungeon, meant to contain all manner of ill-minded folk, from criminals, to the insane. Not out of malice, but because it was of its location, close to the last battlefield. The small village of Lookout, a place that would have seen them for miles off, had protected the surrounding area well. Too well, especially when the prince had entered the battlefield. He was a piece he could not predict. Not that he wanted to win this particular engagement in the first place. It was counterproductive to his nation's interests in the first place.

Still, his lodging was better than most in this place. Even with the chill of the mountains, the gaol standing imposing on one of the few mountains in Order, to the point where snow fell outside. Fortunately for the Archidonis, they were confined to the west wing, where the quarters were better, and designed for royalty or war-gained prisoners. It was far more comfortable than the alternative.

As he continued to wait, Aridorn knew that his options now were limited. He had been a staunch ally of the previous lord, but

Izuku walked into the wing, seeking an audience. That was nothing unusual for one of his rank, considering he was the leader of the enemy forces, but what was... were the circumstances. This boy was the one who had decimated his offensive, countering decisively with a much smaller force in turn. Aridorn couldn't help but marvel at the fact that his captor was only 14 years of age.

Still, he was already seated in a comfortable chair, reading a philosophy on war written by an old Orderian scholar. Izuku sat down on a sofa opposite him. Closing the book, he looked into Izuku's eyes... and found a fierce determination, but a noble soul within. One who was far different to Izuko, the current king. While he was full of regal bearing, through years of training, there was a darkness hid within. Izuku seemed to be very different. How different... was to be determined. "To what do I owe the honor of your presence, Lord Izuku?"

Entering the room, it was clear that he was prepared for a long interrogation. Even bringing a pot of refreshment for himself. And two glasses. How courteous. What he said next was both just an acknowledgement of him as a person... and a breakdown of his major achievements. One to send a shiver down his spine. "You are Commander Aridorn, veteran of the Third Three Way War, one who turned down multiple promotions to continue fighting on the front lines. Well, as close as an Archidonis can get to the front lines." A joke at Archidonis expense, but one made with light heartedness instead of embitterment. A good sign, "If you didn't, I predict that you would've been a high general if not the head of the military. I respect you greatly for your service under Orech, and your own sacrifices under your nation."

Aridorn only ended up raising his eyebrow. The amount of knowledge the boy held on him alone was quite staggering. Normally people at his rank wouldn't be noticed by kings, but this one had made a clear exception. "You respect me as an opponent?"

"You fight for what you believe in, you fight for your nation's prosperity, and that is respectable enough." Pausing, he took a second to pour a cup of refreshment for himself. It was warm, steaming almost in the cold air. Even though the interior was warm, it was clearly fresh. Looking down at it, he wondered what it could be. It wasn't a tea, it was far too thick for that, opaque. A soothing bitter smell emanated from it, and it was clearly something the prince enjoyed, as he took a sip, sighing contentedly. It was then that the green haired boy asked, "I'm sorry, that was rude of me, would you like a cup?"

"What is it, may I ask? I am not familiar."

"Ah, it is known as a hot chocolate. The cocoa beans, harvested from the most eastern forests of Order, are made into a chocolate powder. Then mixed with butter, the chocolate is cooled into a brick, before crushed and mixed with milk. I quite enjoy the flavor, but am not sure if you would as well."

"Sounds similar to coffee." As one of the big exporters of coffee beans, it makes sense that the Archidonis would be familiar with the concept.

"It is in production." Pouring a cup, he offered it to his prisoner.

Taking a sip, the man's eyes widened, "It is sweet..."

"That is more the butter and the sugar talking. Chocolate on its own is quite bitter."

Still looking at it, he considered the rare drink for a moment longer, before looking into Izuku's eyes. "Interesting... still not why you're here."

Izuku shook his head, taking another sip before stating the obvious. "True. Now we find ourselves on the opposite sides of this new conflict... which is why I am compelled to ask you: Who is the new Lord of Archidonis, and what will he do next?"

The Archidon looked at his interrogator, trying to gauge what kind of person he was. He asked, "What is it you hope to achieve by fighting?"

"Orech gave us peace, a state of the world we cherish. Your new lord..." Izuku leaned forward. "Was going to break that. All want is for us to live in peace, but with your new mysterious new lord... that cannot happen." Leaning back in his seat, the boy continued, "...and since we caught you invading our nation, we will not stand idle. Not anymore. So, I answered your question, will you answer mine?"

He nodded, accepting the answer. "You are wise beyond your years, Lord Izuku. You cherish peace, yet are willing to go to war. I respect your father, he was a great king, but he didn't have the stomach for war after he lost his family in the tragedy of a thousand arrows. Which is why I will give you the information you seek. The new lord is a savage from the west named Tryke." As soon as the name was spoken, the room's atmosphere turned heavy, the weight of the problem finally laid bare for the young prince. The man who killed his in laws, and tried to kill his wife. This was his enemy, for right now. Riveted, Izuku listened to each word his former adversary had to say. "He was banished from whatever tribe he was born in, and stirred the pot for months while we were unaware. He took the opportunity to strike during the beginning of the famine in our homeland. Tryke degrades our culture, brings us to our knees, and sends us out to attack those who were our friendliest neighbors. He portrays himself as a true Archidon, committing terrible atrocities against the Anihearts, one of our greatest allies. He seeks to conquer through 'divine intervention'. Or what it actually is: war. He sees you as the garden of Inamorta, and cannot stand how vulnerable you appear. He underestimates you, or at least, your forces." With that, the man took another sip, before looking down at the brown drink with slight awed fascination.

Izuku pondered this new perspective, understanding his goals perfectly, however, he wanted to know what bias his source had. "I see... What do you think of him?"

The honest opinion gave Izuku an idea, which he worked on as he absorbed the veteran's words. "I think he'll destroy Archidonis from within, and cannot stand him. Not to be rude, but why would you care for Archidonis as a whole?"

Izuku thought on this for a moment before he spoke again, with a slightly sly smile on his face. "You probably know this, but I have a soft spot for Archidons, considering my wife." That got a chuckle from the older man, and he let him for a moment, before stating with utmost seriousness: "I'm going to offer you a deal. Work with me, and I'll have you head the ranged division of my private forces. You'll see combat, and lead just as I did."

Mulling over the opportunities over another sip, he then asked, weighing his options. "And if I refuse?"

Shrugging, the boy stated the truth. "Then you and your men can stay here until the war is over. It is your call. This gaol isn't that bad, compared to others..."

"When you mean private force..."

This part made the prince glance around before lowering his voice, so that it was assured that only he would hear these words. "I mean you will report to menot the kingdom. As of right now, my brother rules. If he were to find out, he'd execute me as a traitor. I am placing my trust in you."

That much was abundantly clear. It was an opportunity to fix his nation, to repair the damage the tyrant had done. "I see... Well, I knew of Izuko's reputation before this, but since I would be under you, a leader I respect..." He cleared his throat, before stating clearly for Prince Izuku to hear. "Very well then, I accept."

Izuku smiled, standing and offering his hand to shake. Aridorn did the same, and clasped his forearm, in a more traditional, bond affirming gesture, favored by knights and warriors of honor. Izuku reciprocated the gesture with a grin. "I will draft the paperwork after this meeting, but for now, I will bring you to the forward garrison. We will be marching to the capital in a few days, then rest for one more when we arrive."

"Sounds good. I will miss the books, though. Such insights to be found."

"I'll get a few copies for you." Leaving the room, the Commander heard the boy call out, past the door. "Guards! Let the men under Aridorn go! We have come to an accord!"

As they did, Aridorn asked, still unsure of this new alliance. "You actually are placing trust in me to that degree?"

Looking back, Izuku had the same sentiment about his nation, that he had of his own. "Yes. Order is on the brink of destruction. I need all the allies I can get."

Chapter 14: Uravity's Grace: Approach

Chapter Text

In the next two days, the forces Izuku had at his disposal had integrated, albiet particularly well. Perhaps it was their warrior's ideals, but they were kindred in spirit, and many treated each other as if they had known each other for years. Regrouping at Lookout, Izuku, Aridorn, and Adwin discussed the strategy of dealing with Tryke. So far... it devolved into an argument between the two commanders under Izuku.

"We will have to enact a siege... force him into submission. He will only bow to superior strength."

As it turns out, his accent tends to come out when angered. It was a distinctive one from the mines far south. "But that's what I'm tellin ye! We don't have the numbers to do that. Besides, an arrow donne break down castle walls, especially not at Uravity's Grace! We'd need siege engines! Power like th' heroes of old!"

Izuku thought as the commanders continued to argue until Izuku had enough. At this point, it was creating a migraine. "Quiet! You're only bickering, refusing to even consider the whole picture."

They immediately went silent. They didn't stand down, but they certainly did quiet down. When he was sure not to be interrupted, Izuku took a breath and continued. "Thank you." First, he wanted to address his new ally's strategy. "Aridorn, you are right that a siege could work in theory. However, Order doesn't have that option. Even without the help from my brother, who controls the rest of the army, our population is tiny compared to Archidonis or definitely the Swordwrath. We have to use different tactics. So, I propose something else entirely. Their main statues are in front of the church..."

Aridorn interrupted, immediately pointing out a crucial fact. Just because Tryke managed to usurp the throne didn't mean the others didn't continue to revere the old hero. "The one of the hero Ochako is considered sacred. Even to that savage. If you tear it down it might put them into a frenzy. The one that is the prime target is actually Tryke's, in front of the palace steps." He pointed to a position on the roughly drawn map.

Izuku nodded, "Good. We have our objective. We'll pretend to prepare our forces visibly out of range here." He pointed to a position east of the city. "If they attack ahead of time, they can pull back to the border. I am going to request additional forces, but it's unlikely that Izuko will send them. Edwin will be in charge of this force."

"And what will we be doing?" Aridorn was concerned for good reason. After all, should this fail... he'd be leaving the reigns of his home in the hands of a madman.

Izuku elaborated. "A bit of subterfuge. A detachment of Archidons will infiltrate the city, opening the gates on the night of the new moon, when our forces have the best chance of winning. We will quietly ready two distinct forces in the garrison and on the statue."

"Not the palace itself?" It would be far easier to cut the head of the snake.

But... the direct approach wouldn't work here. Izuku reaffirmed his plan, "Not yet. After those two areas are taken care of, all remaining forces will rendezvous here, at the entrance to the main plaza. There we can assess what defenses they have and what needs to be done."

Edwin scratched his head, "Yep, that's a good start."

Aridorn agreed. "It seems I was right to place my trust in a sound mind such as yourself. However, are your forces up to the task? I understand you are."

"We'll worry about that when the time comes. For now, we have to get them to position first. We can discuss that after."

The army was able to infiltrate Archidonis without incident. The weather was turning cooler, as autumn began to settle in. The few trees that rose high now were adorned with gold, as they prepared to shed them for the winter. Many flew casually in the gentle breeze. The mounted cavalry they had patrolled the edge of their new encampment, as they continued to get settled in. The main encampment was actually in a convenient copse of trees, protecting them from view, for the most part. Some of the temporary walls extended slightly past it. Archidon forces didn't leave the city, but there were some scouts to keep in mind. In order to confuse them, Izuku had most of his forces hide when they were coming, so that they would have inaccurate readings. They also hid many of their insignias, allowing them to think it was just a roaming group, either of bandits or hermits. Either way, it worked.

And then it was the night of the new moon. It was time.

Izumi had taken shelter in the woods off the main path. Izuku had been generous enough to give her a week's worth of traveling rations. Mixing it with boiled water from a nearby stream, she contemplated all that happened, when a voice called to her. It was both inviting... and dangerous at the same time. "Well... you seem to be in a fine mess." Immediately withdrawing a simple mace, she turned towards where she believed the voice to be coming from... and found something... inhuman. It was tall, with a grey glow coming through transparent gray skin. It didn't wear clothes, but didn't need to, as it was clearly inhuman. It didn't even have a face, and yet it was still able to speak. It's voice was sickly sweet, yet deep enough to command respect. "Come, child. Let us sit by the fire together for a moment."

Wary, she asked, looking around for signs of other people, asking with a low voice. "What are you?"

Taking a seat by the fire pit she had created, it didn't look towards her, only facing the flickering flames. "Ah... I am... what Inamorta used to call God. But... I have been forgotten."

God? Yeah right... "So... why are you here?"

"Because I pity you. You were outcast by all." She continued to watch it for hostile movement.

Still, there were those in her corner, few, albeit, but still those who would not give in so easily. "Not by everyone."

A moment's pause, the fire crackling against the darkened skies, only to be met with an... intrigued question. "Ah, you think your brother is telling you everything?"

Incensed by the accusation of this... being... against her brother, she countered immediately. "We've always been honest with each other."

Amused, the being spoke with seeming authority on the subject. "Really? When you reach the Seer, ask him if Izuku is keeping anything from you. You may find that you don't know him as well as he knows you. After all, his soul is far older than yours, so lying to you must come second nature at this point."

She eyed it suspiciously, narrowing her gaze to daggers. The claims were preposterous, ludicrous... but a seed of doubt was planted amongst her mental defenses. Something that won't go away any time soon. The unusual being stood tall, facing her one last time. "Fine, you may not believe me, but ask her anyway. She is a terrible liar." They turned to leave, and step after step, they called back. "And if you want the power to strike against those who wronged you, call out to me, and I shall answer."

A deal with strings, most likely. "Why are you trying to 'help' me?"

The answer, surprisingly enough, seemed understandable at an outward glance. But there was far more there than she could see, and that made them... unreliable. "Because I know what it's like to have the world against me. It is why I sought the power for my ascension. My offer will always be there."

Still, there was much to do, and lots of time to think as the entity left just as suddenly as it arrived, leaving her with much to ponder.

Chapter 15: Uravity's Grace: Midnight Strike

Chapter Text

Aridorn was conflicted. It had taken some time, to set up camp, to carefully hide intentions from the capital, but now was the hour. As the sun set, he thought about how this night would change Archidonis forever. It would restore the bloodline of the hero to the throne, something many of his contemporaries wanted. The people were only manipulated by Tryke when at their most vulnerable, when the tides of time warred against them, only now realized that, as he hoarded food, and didn't . He could see the sorry state of the capital, as while it still looked impressive, the place was abandoned for the most part. The signs of life that had been there were long gone. A shell of itself.

As the group arrived at the gatehouse, Aridorn stopped them. Three guards loitered inside, talking between themselves. They didn't notice the soldiers quietly gathering outside the room. On his signal, they entered the room in a rush, surrounding the startled men, maces at the ready.
When Aridorn entered the room, they were dumbstruck. With how disasterous the Orderian campaign was rumored to be, seeing the leader of it was a bit of a shock. "Commander...?! What..."

"Quiet." To one of the soldiers, he ordered. "Open the gate."

As three of his new soldiers opened the gate, one of the guards asked, "Why are you here, sir? We'd heard you were sent to attack Order."

"I was. But... I have gained new allies, and am here to punish those responsible for what has happened. I am attacking the tyrant Tryke, to save Archidonis."

They were partially relieved, but one knew who the others were. To be fair, their concerns were justified. Order wasn't a military nation, and often had relied on them for protection against larger powers. "By allying with Order? They can't possibly be strong enough..."

Aridorn explained as quickly as time allowed. The night wouldn't last forever, after all. "The lord who came up with this strategy, Izuku, single handedly held off my regimental advance with nothing but twenty soldiers and himself. I have confidence that his strategy will work."

They knew of Izuku's feats the years before. The horserace at their international competition, the mine incident a few years ago... with only a glance between each other, asked, "Can we join?"

Aridorn waited with his forces at the rendezvous. On his way there he had taken the liberty of 'attacking' the garrison ahead of time. To be fair, it wasn't so much an attack as it was a recruitment run. Most of the military respected Aridorn for his actions and the fact he fought alongside his forces. And most, at this point, had enough. The original plan was to attack both at the same time, but he reassessed his chances when the others defected. With almost all of the capital's garrison on his side, it was the commander's hope that, hopefully, the palace guard would be less willing to fight, as so many of their own countrymen were willing to go against their current ruler. Izuku was surprised by the support, and glad to have it. "As soon as we make our entrance, there's no guarantee that the palace guard will defect."

Lowering his head in respect, he stated, "I am aware of the chances, milord." The honor guard were chosen for their loyalty to the throne, even if that meant fighting for a usurper. He knew and respected all of them.

Noting the man's demeanor, he nodded, before turning to his Orderian lieutenant. "Good. Adwin, how are the explosives?"

Crossing his arms, the large rugged man grinned, careful not to be too loud. Still, eagerness was clear to hear. "Set, and ready!"

Looking towards the palace, a place he had visited only once before, Izuku gave his orders. "Good. When you hear fighting at the main keep, light them up."

"Will do, milord!"

Beginning the advance, he gestured to the Archidonis, "Aridorn, with me."

Following his pace, he gestured to his troops, and they marched behind him, bows at the ready, arrows stocked. "Sir."

Mainly to himself, the green haired prince muttered, only just loud enough for Aridorn to hear, "Let's go topple this false king."

Izumi arrived at Archer's Reach. Izuku recommended the Seer, but so did that... false god... shaking her head, she kept to inconspicuously herself, weaving through the streets. The place had become militarized, guards walking everywhere. However, the people didn't seem to like their presence, which was different to Izuku's report. Perhaps they know what it's like to have a truly tyrannical, false king?

Either way, it was no different to her. This wasn't her kingdom, and she was only here to meet with the Seer. She could afford to detach herself from this people's suffering. At least for now. Navigating the town was relatively simple, just get from one side to the other. Eventually, she made it to the Seer's tower, which overlooked the sea. Carefully, the green haired ex-princess crossed the bridge, making sure not to slip, and knocked on the main door.

When the door opened, she met a blond woman who appeared to be in her 20s. There was some recognition, but she still asked politely. "How can I help you?"

"Um... my name is Izumi Midoriya... Izuku said to meet you."

Opening the door, the woman gestured for her to enter. "Ah... right... I heard about what happened... At least you weren't executed..."

"But the only place I'll be safe is Pertland..."

"Not if what I discussed with Izuku comes to pass. He is trying to remove Izuko from the throne. Hold out hope."

This surprised the girl, who was starting to have doubts about her. Before, Izumi would've been her greatest defender. Now? Now she was starting to get a bit suspicious. Not just because of the way in which she seemed to approach the topic, but there were certain questions starting to form. One of which she stated aloud: "You have a lot of faith in him for meeting him once..."

"What can I say, except that he's inspirational."

Izumi did feel the same way when Izuku defended her and used his strength at the mine shaft. Still... what is the Seer's angle? Was she after him as a potential husband? That wouldn't work, he's head over heels for Ochako. The verdant princess did acknowledge that point at least. "Well, that's true."

The Seer smiled, before offering a cup of tea. Not as sweet as she'd like, but Archidonis didn't have a great landscape for it. Westwind was the primary manufacturer of the stuff, and it was very expensive. Taking a sip out of obligation, Izumi asked, "What's the best way to get to Pertland?"

"Ah, yes... the best way is by sea... unfortunately, the last ship sailed out a week ago. The harbor's close to rioting, so I've been making preparations for Lady Uraraka to receive me at Hero's Fall." Walking to a desk, she found a parchment, and opened it to a map. "The safest route is to follow the southern shores, going through Spearta in the process. You might pass through a city or two, but they are too worried about rising Swordwrath aggression to the north. Do you have a compass?"

"I do, Lady Seer."

"Please, Lady Izumi, my name is Hiroikku Kioku. I probably should've told Lady Ochako and Lord Izuku... ah, I'll do it next time." Focusing back on her troubles, the Seer asked. "Do you have enough provisions? Money, food, clothing?"

"I do." Izumi nodded, before standing up. Kioku offered the map, but she politely refused. "You should keep it. I am just going to follow the coast, right? Shouldn't be too difficult."

"Very well, if that is what you believe." She bowed, giving her the respect of royalty, the last time someone likely would for a long, long time.

There was one last burning question to ask before the beginning of her travels, one that Izumi must ask. "Before I leave... what did Izuku talk with you about last time? I heard rumors that he's got terrible secrets, but that can't be true, right?"

Her smile immediately faltered, reflexive. It all but confirmed something was going on the background, something . So he is... that thing was actually right. "W...why ask that?"

Narrowing her eyes, she stated: "It's not often he has a complete one eighty on a particular topic, and you know more than you are letting on."

"I'm not surprised that Izuku hasn't had the opportunity to tell you... just... please wait for him to do so. He's trying his best to do everything he can. From what I've seen from him, he is extremely caring of his family, and will try to help you." It was placating, in every sense of the word, but not enough to stop fraying her trust in him.

Not knowing what to think, especially since there was much that needed to be asked of her brother specifically, she walked to the door. "Right... I think I'll just leave now... thank you for having the time for me.."

"No problems at all, Lady Izumi. May you be safe in your travels, and I hope that Izuku can help you." After the door closed, Kioku felt as if some irreversible damage had just occurred.

When Izuku's forces reached the Keep's gate, they were ready. Placing dynamite onto the gate, a junior officer stepped back, and gave Izuku a torch. "It's all yours, sir."

"Thanks." With smug satisfaction, Izuku placed the torch onto the fuse wire, watching it spark down the line until it reached the explosion, causing it to detonate. Quickly, Izuku told them to advance into the keep. They would be better at close quarters combat than the Archidonis, but they had to move fast.

Another, more prominent explosion sounded. That was the statue. If they weren't awake before, now they definitely would be. Izuku bolted through the keep, trying to stay close to his troops, but knowing that this would be ended far sooner if he could just find Tryke. He could hear combat in the background, Aridorn knew that if he was separated from Izuku, to link up with Edwin and co-ordinate their assault. That way Izuku could do what he does best, and dive headfirst into battle. It's how he won against Shigaraki, it's how he'd win against a quirkless man now. It was always odd when Izuku thought about it. He had a quirk when nobody else did, at least, that he knew of.

Getting back on track, he made it to the throne room. A selection of armored archers, some with crossbows, waited for him. Tryke was waiting at the end of the room, posturing on his throne. Looking down with condescension, he sneered, "So, you're the brat who decided to attack us."

Izuku lashed back, "Only because you did so first."

Giving props to his enemy, the tyrant stated: "And you even managed to get into the city without us noticing..."

"I'm not going to lie, taking you down is going to be satisfying. Especially after what you did to Lord Orech and Lady Erin."

Leaning forward, Tryke hissed, "He was weak and a coward. The Swordwrath burn our homes, yet he did nothing."

Countering, Izuku stated, "He was a good man, but was trying to look at the bigger picture. You can't stop other nations from attacking. But what's done is done. So now, prepare yourselves." He decided it was time. He accidentally tapped into his power twice, but this time he knew he could use it and how to use it safely. Only a small percentage, spread out evenly, but enough to deal with these thugs in armor. Mace trailing behind him, he bolted at the closest man, who aimed a crossbow at him. Dodging the bolt, he uppercut the man, using his momentum to leap high into the air before darting towards a wall. Using his old techniques fighting Gran Torino, he blitzed each opponent. Dart, hit one, avoid projectiles, bounce, hit, rinse, repeat. Until all that's left is just Tryke.

Eyes wide with fear at the display, he asked with horror as the grim looking knight began to stride towards him. "What... what are you?!"

"I'm the descendant of Deku, Prince Izuku Midoriya, and your reign is over."

Izuku brought Tyche's mangled form back to his troops. He'd gone a bit overboard, admittedly, but his opponent decided to attack first and ask questions later. He didn't have the strength to fight back. He was strong, but arrows only travel so fast, and not like they do so well in enclosed spaces.

Aridorn saw him approach first. Smiling, he stated with barely contained glee. "You defeated him. Well done, milord."

Adwin cheered alongside him. As far as Orderian history was concerned, this was the greatest military victory ever achieved by the small nation. "I knew we could do it!"

"I admit, it wasn't as tough as I thought it was going to be..."

The commander raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the comment. "Why not?"

He gave a good non-answer. "He's not good with close quarters combat. In the throne room... bows don't quite work."

"I see..." His elder wasn't quite satisfied with that response, but let it go for now. Most Archidonis were trained in all aspects of bow use, both CQC and ranged combat. It should have been a difficult to assail the throne room alone, at least. "We will have to send news to Lord Izuko and the Capitol. We beat Archidonis in a straight war."

Izuku glanced at him.

Aridorn coughed into his hand, correcting himself. "Maybe not so straight war, but the conflict has resolved."

"Right. Can I trust you two to help the people get acclimated to our presence?" Izuku asked before calling a squire for his horse.

The Archidonis commander agreed, "The people know of me. It should be a smooth transition. I am more worried about Archer's Reach. They're the second biggest city in the kingdom, and heavily resistant to change."

"Don't worry about that. I have a plan. I'll explain when I'm back!" Izuku mounted Thunderbolt. Gripping the reigns, he moved him towards the exit. "Anyhow, I have some things to do in Hero's Fall. I'll be back soon."

His two lieutenants saluted him, as his horse bolted down the road, heading for home. "Yes sir!"

Chapter 16: Uraraka's Grace: Aftermath

Chapter Text

The ride back to Hero's Fall was uneventful, Izuku relieved as he saw the gate to his home city open. Thunderbolt galloped through, and he quickly dismounted as he approached the palace stables. Ochako was already waiting for him, worried sick and eager to meet him once more. "How have things been?"

Izuku continued to walk, striding quickly through the halls as he attempted to reach the throne room. His duty ensured that his first report had to go to the king, but after... well, after was fair game. "It was worse than the reports indicated. I'll explain once I report to Izuko."

Clasping his hand, she murmured to him: "I'm glad you're safe."

Smiling back, he still kept up his pace, changing the topic of conversation a bit. "I am too. Did you receive the twins?"

Not surprised that he'd ask of them, considering their side of the story, she nodded, before asking more. While she did receive them well... they didn't say much of themselves, only singing Izuku's praises. "I did. What happened?"

He shoved it to the side, metaphorically speaking. There would be time to discuss the details, but for now... "It's... complicated. I'll explain after."

Resigned to the fact that protocol must be maintained first, she agreed. "Right. To the... king... first."

"Mhm."

They arrived at the throne room, walking confidently through. He was discussing something with his advisor, who he dismissed for the moment. "Izuku... what of the reports of the Archidon incursion? All I heard from your..." He searched for the most diplomatic word, "Messenger... is that there was a large force."

"They have been dealt with."

Relaxing for the moment, his unease was only thinly veiled by his posture. "Good..."

Continuing, he stated, "I also extended out to Uravity's Grace..."

Furious at Izuku going behind his back, he shouted, "WHY?! DO YOU WANT US TO FAIL?!"

Ignoring that outburst, the second prince continued his report, giving the ultimate news. Not only did he return victorious, but also having quadrupled their territory in one stroke. "...and I only returned because we won, the corpse of the tyrant Tryke is in our custody, and I need troops to help secure our victory." That left both of them speechless.

"What?" He was still processing, theorizing just how this could happen. It seemed impossible, to him.

Unflinching, he stated that this was the reality of the situation. "You heard me, Izuko."

"But... how?!"

Looking to the advisor next to him for a moment, meeting his austere gaze, before looking back to him, "It helps that commander Aridorn defected to our side. His men alongside his own strength allowed us to win."

The advisor was incensed, while Izuko briefly showed amazement before returning to his usual self. "Well... well done! Uh... we'll need to prepare celebrations!"

Izuku sighed. "Look, we don't have the time for that. As soon as the other nations hear about this, they will move on the rest of Archidonis. We've only taken the capital, and need to enforce Order's new borders."

He looked to his advisor, who nodded, and agreed with that sentiment. Izuko, seeing this, was willing to acquiesce to his request. "Very well. How many do you need?"

"All of them. Until Archidonis is loyal to us, we'll need a stronger force."

Izuko asked cautiously, knowing that he was risking a lot, to trust someone who already disapproved of his ascendance. "Do you have a plan to pacify Archidonis?"

"I do. It's an idea, but..." He looked away for a second, before meeting his eyes again. While uncomfortable, it was a necessary question to ask, "I know I'll need your approval first."

The king nodded, relaxing from that knowledge. "Tell me."

"Well... I'm thinking of putting Ochako back on the throne. The only reason her family was deposed was due to a drought, and a bad crop yield plus Tryke's intervention. With our food for sale, plus Ochako on the throne..."

"The people should have restored faith..." He then narrowed his eyes, sensing a power play that wasn't there, being a bit too paranoid. "Why should I allow this?"

Crossing his arms, Izuku tried to explain, lacking a bit of tact, sure, but being straight to the point. "You realize I'm married to her? And because of the fact she is married to me, and I am subordinate to you... that means that she is your subordinate. This means that I am giving you Archidonis as a vassal state. You do realize that, right?"

After a moment of consultation, whispered voices between his advisor and the king, as well as thinking for himself, Izuko came to a verdict. "Very Well, I'll allow it. Secure the new borders."

"Will do." Izuku bowed slightly, then left. There was no reason to spend more time than necessary in front of Lord Izuko.

Ochako couldn't stand his brother. "How do you put up with him?"

Izuku was honest in his opinion, since there were only the two of them. "I only respect the position, 'chako. Not the... man... himself. How was your search?"

"It was... fruitful. But there was a lot of legal jargon I can't decipher. Orderians really make this complicated..."

Izuku understood. It was a lot of technical words with specific meanings, which can change between contexts. Something that Archidonis didn't really have. Not to say they were dumb, or anything of the sort, but they prefer humility to complexity in their methods. "I'll sift through it after I secure the border."

Disappointment leaked into her voice. "You're leaving already?"

Izuku sighed, "Unfortunately, if the job remains half finished, then it'll be for nothing. The new Swordwrath Leader makes things really risky with the probing attacks he's been doing in the north of Archidonis."

A combination of her tenor... and new found disapproval revealed itself to him. "Ah yes... Bakugo..." When they were back in the old days, she seemed to view him with some sort of respect. I wonder what changed...?

Still, he had to go out and prepare, still, there were some things best left in the past, and he hoped, he prayed that Bakugo would see sense in doing the same. "Yeah... I hope to whatever lord may be above that he wasn't brought back as he was."

Wanting to change the subject, Ochako smiled as she offered: "Do you want to see the two you saved?"

Smiling back at the reminder of the twins, he agreed immediately. "Sure, why not? I want to see how they're doing."

"Alright!" They reached their chambers. Entering, she sat down on a chair, grabbed a bell from a hereby table, and let it chime. It's  As Izuku sat down, a small girl entered. She was dressed in an ornate European styled maid outfit. Her black hair and ears poked out from the lace and cloth tiara.

Her eyes widened when she saw Izuku. "Master." She bowed fully, respectfully lowering her gaze as a show of reverence. "It's good to see you alive."

"Thank you Aun."

Saying her name directly made her tail wag side to side, before she composed herself and stood taller, offering anything he might want. "What do you require?"

"Just a cool drink. Something refreshing."

"Master." She curtsied before leaving through a hidden compartment reserved only for servants. It was a way to demonstrate to guests that their route was 'special' and a way to placate things, even if it was only a small detail. These servant tunnels were built into most rooms in the castle, save the areas where they were meant to be.

Meanwhile, Izuku was impressed at how easily the aniheart fit into the role. Defiance and guile were the twins defining traits, and Orderian maids... well, they only required the latter, to be honest. With approval, he noted, "She picked up the training rather quick."

Ochako sat next to him in a different chair, agreeing with the assessment. "When she arrived, she was only talking about how generous you were. When I told her I was your wife, she immediately treated me like some kind of goddess as well. Her and her brother."

"How is he doing?"

"He's picking up combat training, but I don't think he's good with a mace or a bow... I don't really know as much about him as his sister at this point."

"Hm... then I'll have to find a different weapon for him... and accelerate his training. I'm thinking of moving you back to Uraraka's Grace..." They couldn't help but laugh at the name of the city. After all, Uraraka was many things, but graceful was not quite the word they would've used. At least it was that instead of clumsy.

Calming her laughter, she told him where he was stationed, for when the greenette decided to depart. "Ain's at the squirehouse. It's best if you go there yourself, as I'm not allowed."

"Right..." Just then, Aun arrived back, and placed a goblet of cool liquid. Izuku brought it to his mouth and sipped it. It was sweet, with a tinge of strawberry and lavender, but most importantly, cool and refreshing. After the sip, he looked down at the red liquid, and asked curiously, "What is this?"

Aun replied instantly. "A strawberry cordial brewed by the cellarmaster, kept in the ice cave beneath the castle."

Ice Cave? You mean one of the few Refrigerator rooms Order still keeps operational?  Receiving the drink wholeheartedly, "Thank you. You're doing well already."

Her black fox-like tail wagged quickly once again, and she beamed under the praise, stating outright: "Your praise means a lot to me."

One thing he really didn't need was fawning like that, so he attempted to wave it away for the one thing that really mattered to him. "Don't worry about it. Just take good care of Ochako for me, alright?"

Determination lit in her eyes, matching his own from a bygone era, something he definitely noted the irony of. "I won't let you down!"

After the drink, Izuku went to the Squirehouse. He could hear training going on, and found Ain in the middle of sparring practice. Using a stick, they clashed: Ain and a knight his age. They were not evenly matched. Ain was having trouble, clearly out of his league with a squire who trained most of their life. The Foxheart struggled, blocking each one, striking out when he could, with the openings being few and far between. Meanwhile, the other boy was wearing him down through exertion. Barely breaking a sweat, he was tearing Ain apart. Eventually, through deft hand movement, the prodigal squire disarmed the other, and pointed the sword at his throat. Even though he lost, Izuku could see that the Foxheart was trying to get him to get closer. Inside a more effective range. Izuku realized that he must rely on shorter weapons naturally. A knife or a broadsword would be a better weapon. He also was slower due to the armor being metal and heavy plate, and his fighting style being that of quick, nimble movements.

As they were preparing for another spar, Izuku called out to them, "Enough."

Everyone turned to him, and when they saw who commanded them, immediately stood at attention. "Prince Izuku is here!"

Walking into the arena, he offered a hand to the raven haired boy, "Ain, it's good to see you trying so hard."

"Thank you, master." He took it and was led to his feet, appreciating the help from his savior, in more ways than one.

Turning to the other boy, Izuku asked, curiously. "And... what's your name?"

Swallowing down nervousness, he replied with a clear voice, "Aurum Wrathe."

"Good to see you practicing your skill... but have you been improving from Ain? Or has he been too low a level for you to sharpen your skills?"

Choosing his words carefully, he stated his intention with the spar. "I was teaching him, my lord."

The positive look he had before vanished over the course of his next question, not inflecting concern, "Teaching him what?"

"His place."

Izuku soured at this response, but didn't let his anger rise. The other boy had probably been taught to think that way, and it was far more damning on his parents than himself, at least for now. "And why would you need to teach that?"

"Because... King Izuko believes so." And that was the crux of the problem. Izuko looked down on Anihearts for being inhuman, many of the nobility in Order sided with him, probably due to a mix of seeing where the power lie, and sharing his beliefs, and now it was reflected here, where it did not belong. Where it never belonged.

"Of course he does. That does not mean I do." As the boy realized he had massively screwed up, and started to panic, Izuku thought for a moment, before making a decision. "I am heading back to the front. I am taking you two with me. I want to teach you two myself."

Their eyes widened. He was giving them a test, whether they realized it or not; to work together.

"All forces not part of the guard are coming with me, regardless, but I want you two specifically as my squires." Aurum seemed shocked by this turn of events. After all, Izuku was second to the prince in terms of power, but at the same time, it was clear that he very much disapproved of what he said. This could just as much be a punishment as a reward.

"Sir!" They didn't dispute direct orders like this, and so they prepared to move out.

Chapter 17: Ain's and Aurum's First Test

Chapter Text

After Izuku gave the order, many packed up a cart full of supplies, and putting the two in charge of the cargo as Thunderbolt trotted next to them. With a commanding voice, he informed the two of them of their mission. "Alright, you two. You are to get the cargo to Uraraka's Rest. I have to go ahead to ensure that nothing happens in my absence, meaning you two will be on your own. Understood?"

Aurum, already not wanting to fall further in the prince's eyes, stood tall, "You can trust me, milord!"

Ain agreed immediately with more fervor. "I won't let you down, master!"

The two of them were clearly still against the idea of working together, if the glance they gave each other was any indication... but it was something they were going to have to get over.

"Be sure you don't." With a crack of the reigns, he was off, bolting ahead to his destination.

As soon as Izuku left, the two of them continued forward, but tried to basically ignore each other. It was a long and tiring journey, after all, with sights and sounds, and potential threats. All of that added together, and they didn't want to give Prince Izuku a reason to be disappointed.

However, an hour into their trip, the squire started to get uppity about his Ain's navigation skills. "Are you sure we're heading the right way?"

"Yes. I came from Archidonis." They continued in silence for a moment before Ain asks, "Why do you hate me?"

It was so blunt and unexpected that he was caught off guard for the moment. "I..." Steeling himself, he stated, "That's none of your business."

"I'm here. It's important to me. Honestly, why do you hate me?"

He didn't respond immediately, instead focusing on the path ahead. Minutes passed, before he responded, "I don't have a reason to hate you."

"Then why?" Again, silence was all that reigned... at least for a moment, before he asked, not pleaded, to know. "Is it because you were told something about us? I remember you said something about King Izuko."

After a moment, the boy, not wanting any more of this kind of pressure, explained as best he could. "King Izuko is anti-aniheart. My father said to emulate the traits of a ruler in order to gain his favor..." He looked down, unable to meet Ain's eyes. "Father has some similar... sentiments... so when I met you and you were different, I couldn't make sense of it. After all, you weren't like he said... not at all. I needed to know if you were hiding it under a mask, or if he was wrong." That was met by silence, and then a different question. "Do you hate humans?"

Now the tables had turned, making the foxheart think honestly about this. "I'm not sure." Ain watched the path, "I hated Tryke for what he did to us, and I'm no fan of the Archidonis that supported him... but I can't help but respect Lord Izuku for all he's done for us. Lady Ochako is taking good care of my sister... but I know that if master wasn't there... then I shudder to think of what would've happened to us. We may have ended up dead or enslaved..." He shivered, but then heard a crackle in the woods. Tensing up, he whispered, "Move us faster. I hear things nearby that aren't animals."

Understanding the severity of the situation, Aurum took the advice and started to pick up speed with a crack of the reigns, "Right."

As the cart started to move faster, Ain pointed ahead of them, towards where there was far more light down the path. "We just need to get out of the trees." The noble son nodded, and it was then that those who were in the trees revealed themselves. Bandits, failing their ambush, sent only two after them, both on horseback. "Of course there were robbers! Keep us going, I'll repel them! Just follow the trail out of these woods!"

Annoyed, he called back, "Order doesn't have any of these kinds of ruffians..."

"We're already in what used to be Archidonis. From the look of things, we're too far south. Don't worry about the direction until we get to the fields!"

"Right!" The boy focused on ensuring they got the hell out of there, as if the trees themselves were an enemy to outrun.

Meanwhile, the two horses flanked the cart, its wheels spinning quickly and kicking up dust. The ravenette watched with trepidation, hoping one might fail the dismount. "C'mon..."

However, this wouldn't be the case, as the bandit on the right spoke up, muffled by a mask and the dust in the air. "Get back here you brats! Give up your cargo!"

Ain fired back, "Hell No! This is for Lord Izuku, and I won't fail him!" He withdrew his weapon and climbed onto the back, which was where the bandits were boarding. The first had a sword, while the second had a mace. Getting into a fighting position, he waited for them to move. Ain hadn't revealed his new knives, as they would tell the bandits how he would fight. They waited for a moment before striking together. Dodging through the attacks, Ain withdrew a knife and kicked the sword bandit's arm. Enraged he swung twice and stabbed, a move which the Black furred Foxheart predicted and avoided, deflecting the stab into the cart. The mace was swung down, towards his head, so Ain avoided the hit. As the sword bandit tried to rip his sword from the cart, it lurched, sending him tumbling back.

The foxheart took advantage of that and kicked at him, knocking him off for good.

Meanwhile the one with the mace was getting even more aggressive, slamming it at him again. Now that it was one on one, this fight was a lot more manageable. They were slow, and predictable. This kind of fight almost felt... familiar. Shaking the thought from his head, Ain ducked, cut upwards, and kicked him off. The bandit rolled off the cart, hitting a tree harshly before falling unconscious. It was then that they reached the large fields Archidonis, or the lands that used to be known as such, were famous for.

"Whew... that was close..." Ain sat down next to Aurum. Grinning a bit, he told the human, "Good job with the horses."

Matching his expression, Aurum clearly had newfound respect for the fox eared boy. "You weren't too bad with the fight."

They glanced at each other before laughing. This would be a story to tell when they were older. Right now, though, they had a destination to arrive at.

Izuku wasn't going to lie to himself as he listened to Aridorn report to him: leaving many of the supplies to Ain and Aurum was a massive risk. They seemed to be at each other's throats, and the prince would've been with them if he wasn't absolutely needed at the former Archidonis Capital. With the report ending with favorable conditions for Order's conquer of the region, he heard a commotion outside. The familiar sounds of his squires voices raised his own blood pressure a tiny bit, hoping that they weren't fighting amongst each other. Excusing himself, he went to investigate. "Thank you for your report, Commander Aridorn. If you excuse me, I need to discuss something with my squires."

He bowed, understanding the predicament. "As you wish. I will oversee the garrison's smooth transition to your command."

"Thank you, Commander. I'll check up in a little bit."

He left, in order to discuss things with Adwin. Meanwhile, Izuku turned his attention back to the two squires. Worry turned into relief, since the two of them were talking and laughing instead of complaining or worse, fighting. Smiling, he called to them "So, it seems like you're getting along now?"

Aurum spoke up, speaking formally to him, "Some things are best discussed privately." Ain agreed by nodding.

"Very well. Come into my temporary office." He led them into the palace, to the study, which was in surprisingly good shape, considering the nature of Tryke.

Taking a seat, he looked to the two of them. They were in dirt and grime, and would ruin the chairs, so they were to remain standing. Besides, they were squires, and not yet considered anywhere near his equal in status, so stand they must. Knowing that they made it, he wanted to know what caused the change. "So, what happened?"

Aurum spoke the first part, and introduced the climactic incident right off the bat. "We were attacked by bandits."

Izuku thought for a moment, That makes sense... in a life or death scenario, they'll put aside their differences... but... that leaves a different problem... "I see... how much was lost?"

Ain was pleased to report the next part: "None. Aurum took the reins, while I fought the two bandits off the top of the wagon."

Izuku smiled, elated that they had such good teamwork after all. "I see. Based on your lack of injuries, you did well. My new armor was in that shipment, so I personally thank you for giving it your all, and I'm proud you were able to work together." They beamed at him, both with genuine smiles. Aurum's was more reserved, where Ain was bright and clear as day. Still, the day was young, and they had much to do. "So, now that you've arrived, let's get started with the next part to your training..."

However, they were interrupted when a messenger arrived, "Lord Izuku, news from the rest of Inamorta... the head of the Swordwrath nation, Kursuri, has passed due to illness... his son, Katsuki, is stepping to the throne."

Katsuki?! No, that makes sense... Yagi did say that the Swordwrath were descendants of Kacchan... and now he's back... as a king. This is going to be rough for a while...

Chapter 18: Travelling Risks

Chapter Text

Katsuki Bakugo didn't believe it when Deku died. Shigaraki's corpse was found battered and bruised, with a smile on his face, but when that damn deku did not appear, Katsuki knew he was gone for good. He wouldn't leave his mother behind, nor round cheeks, his girlfriend. He really had to go and die, but he knew that this is what he would've wanted, to give up his life to save even a single worthless extra, or in this case, the rest of humanity, which had somehow got wrapped up in all this mess. It was up to the few survivors to rebuild after the fact. Camie survived, a girl he met at a hero license exam retake. She was the one he ultimately settled down with... until the day he died.

And now, he exists in a world that remembers him. When he first saw the statue of his likeness, deep within Swordwrath territory, he couldn't help but grin. His mother, a spitting image of his last wife, showed him how the world developed... while his father was stricken with illness. He'd been a great warrior in the past, expanding their territory, but couldn't do anything with his weakened form. He reminded Katsuki of Allmight, a man who was physically weak when he knew him, but one of the strongest heroes in the world. And so, he respected the hell out of his new father.

He didn't have to be angry anymore. His sweat was normal, and the world was quirkless... so keeping his temperature up wasn't an issue. People were normal... for the most part. He heard of how the young prince of Order saved over 100 people from a mine collapse... and he shared his name. And his strength. And that was something that annoyed him to his core.

Which is why he called for the Seer of Inamorta.

Izumi meandered through the forest. She was no longer in Archidonis... but in Spearta. She had to keep moving, and was stunned when she heard the news that Order had conquered Archidonis, but then realized it wasn't so unreasonable when it was revealed that Izuku was the leader of their forces. He did that? Amazing... of course he could, he was able to save me from being executed... but... he is still keeping secrets... if you lied to me about one thing, how much have you lied to me about?

The a small town could be seen through the trees ahead. Spearta territory was dangerous, as there were a lot of bandits in the area, which made it too dangerous to stay in the area. Entering the town quietly, she made herself look unassuming to everyone, which worked, as many were busy with their own issues and commerce. The place was certainly different to what she was used to: many buildings were made from white marble, the prominent ones had pillars and carvings centered around the heroes of old. However, there was a particular preference towards one. He stood tall, holding a shield just like their military. Round, with a single chevron. They had made it to represent the pinnacle of their culture, not what he actually looked like in life. It was the hero Red Riot. That was the only name that remained, although their youngest was supposedly named after the hero. He was unbreakable to all but the most severe attacks. It was awe inspiring for those who made the legends.

But reality was disappointing

But reality was disappointing.

Red Riot stood for freedom, safety of all. That was what people believed when they spoke about him. But Spearta, with their patron hero... didn't follow that line of logic at all. They betrayed their hero with every breath. They were honor bound, but rigid. Freedoms were not a part of the kingdom. They worked off of a unique dual king system, where neither had more power than the other, and disputes were settled through contests of iron: or just a short, nonlethal duel. The stronger king's side would win.

It was something Izumi had to learn when she was still a princess, but now... it helped her understand the world she was now forced to explore. As she looked for a safe place, she bore witness to the further tarnishing of Red Riot's legacy: A slave auction.

It was no secret that most nations had slavery of some sort. Westwind and Order were the only two that didn't, and prospered heavily because of it, but most were stuck in their ways. That didn't mean all nations were equal in how they kept them, some nations treated slaves better than others. Due to Spearton honor, they treated slaves with dignity. However... others... like the Swordwrath, did not. Slaves in this nation primarily consisted of Anihearts and those who lost in battle. Not nobility, of course. There were so many... and it sickened Izumi. She couldn't do anything, so she pushed it to the back of her mind as she huddled, out of the way, before closing her eyes to sleep.

The Seer of Inamorta is a title. Her actual name was Hiroikku Kioku. An appropriate name... She was surprised to hear the messenger ask for her presence in the capital of the Swordwrath nation: Center Forge. Named for its main purpose, instead of after their patron hero, it was certainly unique. She was escorted in a carriage, resting her dark eyes. However, soon, the heat in the area forced her to wonder what the area was like. Gazing over the landscape, she couldn't help but marvel over the dunes. The nation of the Swordwrath had changed much in the times since she had last been there, well over 100 years before. Now, it was nothing but mountainous and sandy. Last I heard, there was a famine... and this is the result. Desertification of the area... with exception of the coast... and riverbanks... a tragedy... at least the other nations aren't affected by that...

Then he saw the city. It was a classical castle, with some middle eastern influence, similar to the defenses at Arsuf, back before the world had quirks and fought for God. It was strange for her to think about, after how many different ages had passed: The Age of God, the Age of Reason, the Age of Quirks, and now the Age of Inamorta. She understood them all, but now... it felt like the age was on the verge of change yet again. Sighing, she waited as the carriage was brought to the palace, and the door opened for her. Stepping out, Kioku was escorted right to the throne room. The architecture of the palace was simple, rugged, and yet carried a strange beauty of its own. Arriving at the room in question, she entered with her entourage... and sitting there was a spitting image of Katsuki Bakugo. It was even more apparent when he introduced himself. "Alright, Seer. Welcome to Center Forge. You probably already fucking heard, but I'm the new king of Swordwrath: name's Katsuki..." he trailed off, observing the seer fully. You could hear a pin drop, and the guards were nervous. He inspired fear in his own men... After a moment, narrowing his eyes, he barked an order. "Everyone, leave me alone with her."
"As you wish..." they turned and left. The guards posted within the throne room did the same, leaving with practiced ease. When the door closed fully, he continued to analyse the seer, her gaunt face serious as his. What he said under his breath shocked her, "Eyes just like him..."

"Eyes like who, Lord Katsuki?" The Seer was baiting a response. She had a theory ever since she saw him and his actions, but wanted to know for sure.

He didn't realize that she could hear him. "You wouldn't get it..."

Stepping closer, she laughed at the presumption. "Wouldn't I? I have seen many things... I bore witness to the original heroes. Even though my vessel is much different, I helped teach and guide them... isn't that right, Young Bakugo?"
