Q: Welcome back, everyone. How was your break?
Charles LECLERC: It was good. I spent some time with my family and friends… ate out a lot. We went to Scotland for a few days, and then Ibiza. It was nice, but to be honest, I’m ready to get back to work.
Lando NORRIS: Yeah, I didn’t do much either. Oh, I saw Esteban [Ocon] in Italy, but he walked away before I could say hi.
Max VERSTAPPEN: Clearly, he was running away from you. (Laughs) I’m just kidding. Yeah, what they said. These kinds of breaks are usually lowkey. Just stayed with family, did some work on the car, the usual.

Q: How are you guys feeling about your chances this weekend?
CL: Of course I feel good, but I am always feeling good, and the reality is we don’t know where any of the teams are right now. We have brought some upgrades to the car which will help, but so have the other teams. I will do my best, and the goal is always to win, but we must be realistic too.
MV: I still think McLaren will be the favourites, especially with the temperatures lower than expected. We’ve brought some stuff since the break, but we aren’t expecting it to be enough to beat them.

Q: Lando, Charles, how much is Singapore still lingering on your mind?
LN: Not at all. I think we all know what happened one month ago has little effect on what’ll happen this weekend. We’re expecting Ferrari, Red Bull—Mercedes too, to all be stronger than they were in Singapore. It was a nice confidence boost over the break, sure, but only having one free practice this weekend means we need to focus on this weekend only. Nothing else.
CL: I have not thought about Singapore since we left, really. We know what went wrong, that is what’s important.

Q: For all three of you, are you more or less confident going into a more traditional circuit once more? Let’s start with Charles.
CL: I had a feeling you would make me go first. Maybe it will surprise you, but I am not more or less confident here than, say, Baku. Some tracks I have had better results in, but I go into every weekend believing I can win, no matter the track. Anyway, last year this race was quite difficult for us, but our qualifying was very good. This year has been the opposite in terms of where we have been good, so maybe that will mean we have a more balanced weekend.
MV: I think we’ll be better here than in the street circuits, so I’m looking forward to it. But of course, at the same time, us being good won’t mean anything if the other teams are better. I think Ferrari might be downplaying their strength a bit.
LN: Yeah, what Max said, basically.
CL: You have lots of faith in us. Are you sure you aren’t Ferrari fans? (Laughs)

QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR

Q: Question for Charles. How has the reaction from your fellow drivers been to your post?
CL: It has been very wonderful, of course. I have received many messages of support from everyone… it has all been very sweet words. But I didn’t think anyone would have issues with it, I wasn’t expecting a bad reaction. All of the other drivers in Formula 1 are kind people, and I get along with everybody very well.

Q: What made you decide to come out now?
CL: It was not really about just me, but about my partner too. We know that eventually we want to make things fully public, so we decided to start with this. Once he is comfortable, he will reveal his side too. Before this, I have dated only women, so I didn’t feel like I had to say anything. I spoke to some other drivers before posting, like Lewis, and they all encouraged me. This gave me the confidence I needed. If not, I might have pushed it until later.

Q: Charles, there are some worries that the commotion around this will be a distraction to you or the other drivers.
MV: That’s stupid. We’re all professionals. And we’ve driven with much worse around us. Do you think we’re children who get distracted by every shiny little thing?
CL: To answer you properly, I don’t think people need to worry about that. That is all I have to say.

Q: How was the reaction from the team?
CL: Of course, very supportive, even though I put them in a tough position. They have done everything they can to help me win this weekend, so my goal is to repay them by doing well. More than anything, we are focused on the car and our performance, not the drivers’ personal lives.

Bonus: I loved this response from Max.

Q: Max, before the break, you refused to answer questions during the press conference because of the swearing warning. Has that issue been resolved?
MV: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I had a sore throat then, now I don’t. So yes, it’s been resolved. I’m answering today, aren’t I?

Okay, I’m ready.

If you weren’t in F1, what driver would you root for?
Either Lewis or Pierre. Lewis, because he will be a Ferrari driver, and his life is very interesting. Before I was in Formula 1, I was always impressed by his driving. Then… Pierre, because he is one of my closest friends. So naturally, if we knew each other still, I would root for him. But I don’t like to think about worlds where I am not in Formula 1!

What was your favourite moment of the season so far?
Of course, it has to be winning. Both wins were special in their own ways. But the energy in Monza was incredible, and the team was very happy, so maybe I will pick Monza for the team.

Then, your lowest moment?
We were very hopeful going into Austria… but both days were difficult. Then, at Silverstone, things didn’t get better. It was hard for me then, and the team, but it taught us a lot and I think our success now is helped by what we learned then.

What is your ideal vacation spot?
I visit Ibiza often. The weather is very nice and everyone is friendly, there’s lots to do. Recently, I have been visiting Northern Europe more and exploring there. It’s quite different from what I am used to, but I am usually going with someone from the area, so they show me everything fun and I have tried lots of… new and interesting foods. (Laughs)

How do you feel about the fan reaction to your recent Instagram post?
I’m incredibly grateful for all the support, both from the Tifosi and everyone else. I didn’t expect the reaction to be bad, but naturally with something like this, you start to feel worried leading up to it that something bad will happen. But it went even better than expected.

How does your partner feel?
He is happy too, he reads many of the comments. Actually, he’s often the one to show me them, even when they are from my own post. For his own reasons, he doesn’t want to reveal himself yet. But it has nothing to do with the fans or the reaction—those have been so wonderful.

How did you meet your partner?
It’s not a romantic story. We have known each other for a long time… over half our lives. For a long time, we were not really friends though, more just we knew each other from afar. I can’t remember the very first time we met. Maybe he would know, he remembers things like this more.

Was it difficult to tell your family?
No, not really. My family already knew him, so it was more just explaining our relationship, and they approved without hesitation. My brother Arthur was even more excited than I was, I think!

Do you feel like a good role model for young LGBTQ+ drivers?
This is a complicated question. Honestly, I don’t really think about things like this during the weekend, because I am focused on driving only. I’m happy if people look up to me, and I want to be a role model for many people, but I’m not sure I have done anything to deserve this title specifically. I’m happy if I can be a role model for drivers in general, no matter who or what they are. That’s all.

Which rookie are you most looking forward to watching next year?
Ollie has been in the FDA for years so I have seen him in Maranello many times. I have even seen some of his simulator data, and we have done test sessions together—he’s very good, and I don’t think his current results in F2 properly display his skill. I think he will be excellent next year and I hope he and Haas can fight for points often. I think they will.

Do you think Max or Lando will win the Drivers’ Championship?
I’m hurt that my name is not here? (Laughs) If we are being realistic, it will be Max. Even though Red Bull are not so dominant anymore, they’re still strong, and Max can be counted on to maximize whatever points are available.

Do you foresee yourself challenging for the title in 2025?
Yes, I think we will be ready for a real fight next year, in both the Drivers’ and Constructors’. We have improved lots last year and this year in preparation, and if we can start the year off strong, I believe we have good momentum. Especially compared to other teams, who seem to have less concrete areas to improve in.

Who asked the other person out first? You or your partner?
It was not really… there was no asking involved. We just kept meeting up by chance, and it happened naturally. We didn’t have any dates or anything for the first few months. But for when we started dating, it was me that asked him. It was not very romantic though, again—it was more like I asked for clarification because I didn’t know either. It was more of a fight, really. (Laughs)

What on-track battle from previous years is most memorable to you?
Most memorable… Austria and Silverstone 2019. They kind of go together because they were back to back. Both were with Max, and looking back, they were lots of fun—but at the time they were stressful!

If you could have any driver as a teammate, who would it be?
I would pick Lewis, but we will already be teammates next year, so I guess that doesn’t count. I will go with Max. I think it would be fun to race closely with him more often, but also, I like to have the best teammates so I have something to compare myself to.

Last question. Prediction for 2026’s Constructors’ Championship?
That’s too far! Hm… We will be P1, Mercedes P2, McLaren P3, Red Bull P4. After that, I don’t know.

It seems like the journalists who attended were told to keep their mouths shut, but a few crucially still leaked information.

Firstly: this Brazilian reporter stated that “Alpine didn’t send any representatives.” We can use this to rule out Esteban and Pierre.

Secondly: the same reporter said “the Mercedes driver will do a speech later.” Now, this doesn’t tell us which driver it is. But! George and Carmen both posted photos from Florida that evening. Unless George took the world’s highest-speed jet from America to Singapore, we can rule him out. Therefore, the Mercedes driver who attended was Lewis.

Thirdly: this cropped image of a few drivers posing for a photo. The journalist (rightfully) cropped out their torsos but made the grave mistake of leaving their shoes. Here are the owners I could confirm:
- Leftmost: Charles (He wears these shoes very often)
- Second from left: Ollie (He wore these a few weeks ago while in Spain and was also spotted wearing them over the summer)
- Middle: Lando (He also wears these shoes often, you can see him wearing them here too @ a McLaren event earlier this year)
- Third from right: Lewis (Sponsored shoes, see here)
- Rightmost: Alex (Can be seen on his IG story from the day before)

This leaves second from the right as the only pair of shoes I don’t recognize. If anyone knows, please tell me. Also yes, I am aware these shoes could belong to other people/drivers… I swear this is just for fun.

Final thing: This journalist said six drivers attended.

TL;DR: Pierre, Esteban, and George did not attend. Lewis did. Lando, Alex, and Ollie probably did. One more driver did, but I don’t know who. No other drivers aside from these six (incl. Charles) attended. Therefore, if Charles' boyfriend is a driver, it can only be one of these five.

Great write-up! I’m pretty sure the final driver is Max for two reasons.

The shoes aren’t the exact same, but Max has a pair of those shoes in a slightly different colour. I did some more digging and found out he wears a LOT of clothing from this brand - it’s not unrealistic to think he’d have the same pair in different colours. I briefly looked through the other driver’s IGs and couldn’t find them wearing this style, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Max’s plane flew to London the day before the event then parked there for three days. London is one of the hubs for Excel, a private jet company that some drivers (Charles, Lando, etc.) have been using recently when not using their sponsored planes. So it seems like Max flew to London then took another flight to Singapore.

A year full of ups and downs for us… but we still managed 4 wins this season, including Monaco and Monza. I gave everything this season, learned so much, and will come back even stronger next year. I’m very confident in the direction the team and car are going in and I can’t wait to show you what we have for next year. This was also Carlos’ last race with the team. Growing up, the only thing I cared about was winning.

From the moment I first sat behind the wheel of a go-kart, my life was all about the next race, the next challenge, the next win. I didn’t have time for distractions, and I wasn’t interested in explaining myself to anyone. I knew what I wanted—to be the best—and I went after it.

For years, I didn’t feel the need to come out because, frankly, I didn’t think it was anyone’s business. Being public about my personal life felt like an unnecessary hassle. As long as I was winning races, that was all that people needed to know.

Recently, this has changed.

I’ve been dating someone new. He understands the boundaries between my work and my personal life better than anyone. He knows my focus will always be on racing when I’m on the track, and that only makes me respect and love him more. He’s someone I believe that I want to be with forever, and the more we’ve grown together, the more we’ve realized it’s time to share this openly. I’ve never been one to seek attention for my private life, but we both feel it’s important to be honest with you now, especially with the recent rumors and online discourse about us.

Consider this confirmation that Charles Leclerc and I are together.

I’m still the same person I’ve always been—hungry to win with Red Bull, committed to giving my best on the track. But now you know a little more about who I am off the track too. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible fans throughout my career, and I hope you’ll continue to support me in the same way you always have.
