Chapter Text

Leaves, leaves everywhere – that’s the first thing Brainy saw – the leaves extended in a green field and in the horizon were more leaves moving in circle. Brainy instinct told him to don’t go, but he knew he had to.

The closer Brainy got, the clearer it became. It wasn’t a random movement, it was a small twister starting to grow, and in the middle of the twister a man stood smiling and laughing.

The man looked directly into Brainy’s eyes and said – You won’t be ready.

- Nia, Nia, wake up – Brainy needed Nia to wake up from the nightmare. Nia woke up and hug Briany with despair. – It’s ok, It’s ok. I’m here.

It took Nia a couple of second to recover – You were also in my dreams – said with sadness.

- The same dream? – asked Brainy.

- Yes – said Nia, - but this time I could see the man’s face.

Brainy help Nia drawing the man face; black eyes, pointy ears, no hair and white beard.

- We’ll find him. I promise – said Brainy.

- I’m not scared of finding him, I’m scared of what he could do – said Nia while Brainy tried to comfort her.

It has been six months since Lex told Lena the truth about Kara, six months since she buried her brother in the Luthor mausolea, six months since she had talked to Kara.

In those six moths Lena left the control of Catco to James and focus back on L-Corp. All her most recent creations were about Kara. At the beginning she just wanted to trap Kara until she confesses, them she wanted to repeal Kara and keep her far away from her, at the end she just wanted to move on and be the first Luthor to not link herself to a Super.

It was difficult at first, Kara and her friends tried to reach her and be with her after the death of Lex; but after a few months they stopped trying, and now she only gets one phone call each week from Kara.

She knew that most of them thought she needed time to grieve her brother, but none of them were the wiser to see the true.

A text message got her attention – I’ll be there in a few weeks – Lena smiled and put her phone away.

Kara was desperate, Lena didn’t return her calls nor tried to spend time with her. Kara felt lost.

- You should tell her already – said Alex while taking a sip of her coffee.

- She doesn’t even want to see me – said Kara pouting.

 - Like that has stop you before?

- No, but… I remember when I was suffering because of Mon-El. She tried to be there for me and I didn’t let her, I only needed space and I’m trying to give her the same space.

- I get it Kara, but how much more time will you wait?

- All the time she needs.

- And how do you know she needs time, or is your fear of telling her the truth? – pushed Alex. – You said it yourself, she tried to be there for you and you are not trying as hard as you normally would.

Kara didn’t have an answer so she just focused in taking another bite of her sticky buns.

Brainy was looking to all the history records he could find, but it’s been a few days and nothing yet. Those days Nia had the same nightmare every night and an uneasiness started to colored their days.

Brainy felt tempted to look on his ship for the records of the future, but he knew that had to be his last resource; playing with future knowledge was dangerous.

A beeping noise interrupt his thoughts and several pictures appeared in the screen.

- I got you.

- Lena, what’s up?!!!... Lena, I was just walking by… – no, to superficial. – Hi Lena. I just want to see you; see if you are ok…– better.

Kara tried once more to get into Lena’s office, but Jess stop her once again – Miss Luthor is busy in the lab, Kara. Sorry, try to call her next time.

Lena didn’t need to hear everything to know it was Kara..

- We need to talk – Lena almost jumped.

- How did you get pass..

- Your defense system, please, I’m a twelfth level intellect.

- What do you want Brainy? I’ve been busy – started Lena.

- Lena, you don’t need to lie to me. If my calculations are correct and for your recent attempt to ignore Kara, I’m certain they are; you know Kara’s true identity.

- What are you talking about? – Lena tried.

Brainy enter to her system once more and display one of her first design to trap Kara – A kryptonite cube, low setting in the kryptonite – said Brainy analyzing her scheme. – Did you make it? – a certain level of concern was noticeable in his voice.

- No. – said Lena seeing no point in lying. – Just designs.

- That’s good. – Brainy walked until he was face to face with Lena – I need your help; we need your help.

- And what makes you think I want to help you? – said Lena upset.

- I can’t explain Kara’s actions, that’s something she needs to do herself. But what I can say is that I couldn’t interfere. Is a thin line to walk, to choose what to do or say. Trying not to change the future without knowing if I’ve already have. – said with his eyes lost in thoughts before focusing back on Lena – The true is that I’m sorry for the part I played.

Lena held his gaze and saw the sincerity of his words. She moved towards her bar and pour herself a glass of scotch.

Slowly she took a sit while observing Brainy. He stood there unmoving.

- What’s this new menace?

- Rama Khan.

Lena finished her drink and walked towards him – Ok, let’s start.

- This is what I know: He’s been influencing the history of the earth since its beginnings. I found records of this – Brainy show Lena in his screen the different pictures of the man – We can see him control the earth and it’s elements. He can’t create, only manipulated.

- Have you face him? – asked Lena.

- No – he said.

- So, how?

- Nia’s dream. Her abilities are growing strong.

- Who else knows?

- Only Nia.

- And she is ok with you coming to me?

- She doesn’t know.

Lena’s face change, from curiosity to coldness – Let me guess. You don’t want your friends to know you are working with a Luthor.

- No.

- Them what?

- They are not capable to do what it needs to be done.

- What are you not telling me?

- He’s not alone. If he destroys Supergirl, Leviathan will come to conquer the earth.

- How do you know this?

- My ship’s records.

- I thought you couldn’t.

- Yes, and that’s why I’m here and not with them. When the time comes, we’ll let them know; but this is the right path, us working together.

Kara couldn’t wait anymore. She gathered all the courage she possesses and flew to Lena’s penthouse.

- Supergirl, do what I own the pleasure? – said Lena after stepping into her balcony.

- I need to tell you something and I know you’ll be upset and probably have several questions. And I promise I’ll answer all of them – Lena just looked at her as she normally did, with coldness – My name is Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of Krypton and Supergirl; but I also am Kara Danvers, reporter of Catco Magazine and your best friend.

Lena looked at her, expression unchanged – Lex beat you by more than six months. – And with that she went back inside and close the balcony door.

Kara’s courage disappeared and a deep sorrow flooded her; her knees gave in and the tears ricochet. Lena never turned around.

Kara didn’t know how long she stayed in Lena’s balcony heartbroken and crying, but eventually she left.

Alex finds her days later, after not answering her calls.

- Kara, Kara? What happened?

When Kara registers her sister’s presence, she hugs her while crying – It was too late. Lex told her.

Alex didn’t need to know more; she just hugged her sister tighter and let her cried.

The sound of heels knocking the marble floor of the top level of L-Corp’s building was strong enough to get Lena’s attention, she knew that sound.

The door opened moments later and Lena was already standing with a smile on her face – Andrea, I’m so happy to see you again – said de CEO.

Andre was wearing a sinful green dress that hug her curves incredibly well. Even if Lena had moved on from their relationship long time ago, she couldn’t control her body’s reaction to seeing Andrea like that, sexy and powerful.

- Lena, darling, it’s been a long time – Andrea ignored Lena’s extended hand and went for a kiss in the cheek, to close to the mouth to be accidental.

Lena didn’t react – Please, sit and tell me what brings you to my city.

Andrea followed Lena’s instructions but not before testing Lena’s reaction to her proximity – I have a business proposal for you, the next big thing, Virtual Reality.

They talked for hours about the project. Andrea had the software and she needed Lena’s help for the hardware.

By the end of the meeting, they have an agreement and some improvements already map out. This new partnership could be Lena’s best or worst idea.

- Welcome everyone – said Lena standing in a small podium, in the middle of the inauguration of her new community outreach project – National City is a city of inclusion, growth and hope for a better future for all. And today, I’m here to welcome you to my small contribution to make this city better; National City’s first community garden. This garden…

A strong and sudden earthquake stopped her speech. Everyone stayed still until a presence emerge from the ground a couple; a man which face looked familiar to Lena.

- LENA LUTHOR! – the man screamed.

Weeks earlier

- You don’t think is too soon to force an encounter – asked Lena.

- It is, but we don’t have a choice – said Brainy.

- We barely scratch the supervise of our work. We only have one semi finish trap and three designs that may or may not work – said Lena – And we still need the stone to power the gun.

- Nia’s nightmares are getting worst.

- Tell her the truth, we need more time.

- Is not going to work.

Lena and Brainy continue working in silence.

- How do you know he will attack me?

- I told you.

- Really?

- That’s all I know. My ship may have information, but is not without its limits. And I showed you the recording.

- Yes, I know. Leviathan main leader: Rama Khan. Leaders in total: 6. Objectives: Kill me and Kara. And beyond that some ideas of what powers these leaders may have.

Kara was doing better, it’s been weeks since her conversation with Lena and even if she felt frozen in that night the world kept moving and she needed to try and move on.

Her first day out of her apartment was awful, she saw Lena having lunch with a woman that was a little to close for her liking.

A week after that a news article name the mystery woman as Andrea Rojas, CEO of Obsidian North and if the gossip column was right, Lena’s girlfriend. The article was accompanied by several pictures of the two women enjoying each several date nights.

The second week, she was witness to their relationship while patrolling. They were at Lena’s office, having s extremely late dinner and she couldn’t stop herself and saw how Andreas’ hand travel up Lena’s leg. And that give away to a total new set of feelings Kara didn’t want to name yet.

So now, she was chasing a new source for her article about the new outlook on aliens after the death of Lex Luthor and the removal of president Baker when a familiar screen pierced her ears “Lena”.

Kara activated her new suit and flew breaking the sound barrier.

She saw Lena falling and managed to catch her while a name stood looking at them before disappearing into the earth.

- Who was that? – said Kara.

- I don’t know – said Lena.

Once at the DEO and after Kara force Lena to get examined by Alex; Brainy stood in front of the rest of the team and Lena to explain them who was Rama Khan.

Brainy explains everything about him and Nia helps by telling them what she saw in her dreams.

- That’s why you’ve been looking for him – said Alex – because of Nia’s dreams and you..

- I found him after knowing what kind of abilities he has.

- So, how do we defeat him?

- He’s from the planet Jarhanpur. The planet was destroyed more than ten thousand years ago, they suffer a..

- Fate similar to the kryptonians – continued Kara – They’re planet die without resources. My father told me that story.

- His weakness comes from the Jarhanpurium, a metal native to his planet but expose to the earth’s sun it becomes poisonous for them.

- Like kryptonite? – said Nia.

- Yes.

- Is there any other way? – asked Kara.

- To cut his connection to the earth. Complete isolation.

All the superfriends stayed in silence and Lena just couldn’t handle being there for more time.

- Well, if that’s all. I’ll be leaving – said Lena.

- No, Lena – Kara tried to stop her – He attack you and…

- You have no idea how to stop him.

- But I can protect you – begged Kara reaching for her friend, but Lena pulled away from her.

- I’ll take my chances – said Lena walking away.

Kara couldn’t accept Lena’s decision, but she couldn’t force herself into Lena; so, the logical solution was for her to stayed guard near her penthouse. She couldn’t left Lena alone.

She was resting in the building in front when someone knock Lena’s door. Kara focused on the penthouse.

Lena opened the door and it was Andrea.

- Hi, darling – said while leaning for a kiss that Lena cut short – someone tried to kill you again?

Lena just smiled – Yes, but this time he has powers.

- Reason?

- Unknown.

- Oh well. I brought dinner and you can open a bottle of wine; you need to relax and that’s why I’m here. – said Andrea caressing Lena’s cheek.

- Aren’t you concern with your safety? – asked Lena surprise.

- Not our first rodeo, remember? – said Andrea smiling – I know how to take care of myself and I can take care of you too – the hope in Andrea’s eyes were evident and it burn Kara’s chess with jealousy. She wanted to be the one to take care of Lena.

- Thank you, Andy. – said Lena coyly.

Kara couldn’t keep watching or hearing, it was too painful; but she couldn’t leave. So there, alone and trap in her self-assigned post, let her feelings flow.

Kara couldn’t remember the last time she hugged Lena; she couldn’t remember their last dinner together; it felt like her most precious memories were scaping her mind.

She felt pain everything the memory of the night she told Lena her secret. She had to know something was off, Lena wouldn’t stop seeing her without a reason; but her insufferable hope didn’t let her see the truth.

Waiting for time to heal her heart didn’t help either, not until seeing Lena with her replacement. Anger flooded her everything she remember how Andrea was with Lena; it’s like there was a part of Lena she didn’t know, a part she would’ve want to see.

She felt like Andrea stole from her; and every time she tried and blame the Latina, her logic betrayed her telling her she lost Lena before.

She lost Lena the day Lena lost Lex, she lost Lena the day she chose to use her last name against her, she lost Lena the day she sent James to spy on her, she lost Lena the night in the plane she chose to keep silent.

She’s being losing Lena little by little, out of fear and inactivity, and it wasn’t anyone fault but hers.

She lost Lena and now she was alone.

Chapter Text

Lena enjoyed Andrea’s company, it was easy to be around her former lover and best friend. Falling to bed was also easy, none of them made any promise about the future and both needed the release.

Reconnecting with Andrea was unexpected but welcome, and working with her was amazing.

Some nights she imaging what it would be like to have Andrea by her side as her partner; but every time she tried, Kara’s face appear instead.

She couldn’t deny her feelings for the kryptonian and every day she spent time with Andrea a small part of her felt like she was using her friend.

The idea of using the embers of her past relationship with Andrea to block the flames that she holds for Kara was keeping her awake at night.

And now, while Andrea is looking at her like she used to, and offering company and protection; the only thought in her head was Kara. Even if she wasn’t sure if the hero was watching her from the near distance, she still kept her dinner with Andrea PG.

After dinner, she shared her bed with Andrea but lie about being tired. So now, Lena lied in her bed awake and every time she tried to fall sleep memories of her time with Kara flooded her mind.

- Stay, it’s late – Kara said smiling at her. – My bed is big enough for both and I have an extra pj’s for you.

- Are you comfortable? – asked Kara while hugging her and Lena was beyond comfortable.

- I brought you lunch, you need a break – Kara with a huge bag of burgers and shakes appeared in her office.

- Let’s make a fort and watch Frozen, please – Kara’s pout was extremely effective and Lena found herself cuddle in Kara’s arms.

An infinitive number of hugs, smiles and cuddles; a wave of happiness in each one of those moments; a heart aching to have it back and a mind willing to let it go.

Grief and sorrow were constant in her life; from the death of her mom to the loss of her sun.

With tears in her eyes, Lena felt sleep.

Aër, terra, aqua, ignis; tempus istorum corporum arrestate – Lena’s voice repeated over and over again. A wave of energy grew stronger around her and with a final movement the wave enveloped the last of earths enemies.

Tired and wounded, she falls next to Kara and whispers – We made it my love, we can rest now.

- What are you saying Brainy? – asked Nia distressed – Are there destined to die..

- No completely – said Brainy – These records are frozen in time because my ship is here, this is a version of their story.

- But it can happen?

- Yes.

- We need to stop it. – said Nia.

- We need to learn from it – said Brainy. – We know why they want to kill Lena; she is capable of stopping them and I’m guessing Kara help her get to that point.

- So, Lena is going to have powers? – asked Nia.

- That is certain, maybe she has them already but is unaware – Brainy started pacing.

- What are our options?

- Number one: stop Rama Khan which will cause Leviathan to reconsidered and probably delate their second intent to conquer earth. Number two: Push Lena to get her powers and prepare for battle. Number three: Ignore everything and accepted we are destined to fail and we can only enjoy the limited time we have together.

- Brainy. Number three, really?

- You asked for choices. Analyzing our past behavior those are our choices.

- We need to tell the team about this – said Nia.

- We only have fragments of the story, is not wise to give them half-truths.

- But Lena and Kara…

- We need to focus in stopping Rama Khan and I’ll run an analysis of Lena’s sources of power. We can’t tell them everything, it can cost us greatly.

Nia knew he was right, but she didn’t feel ok with it.

Lena was already sleep; Kara could hear the peaceful beating of her heart. Andrea was sleeping next to her, but she rather ignored it.

- What are you doing here? – Kara reacted by instinct and attacked the newcomer, but he managed to avoid the hit. – Wow, is this how you say hello to your friends?

- Mxy, sorry. You scared me – said Kara looking contrite.

- Is ok, thank God for my fifth dimensional reflexes. But again, what are you doing here? – Kara couldn’t stop herself and look in the direction of Lena’s building and Mxy follow the movement – Ohhhh, I see. A lovers quarrel. So, I’m guessing the news were true, you and Miss Luthor had a big falling off.

- I… no…well yeah… is not… What are you doing here? – rambled Kara.

- Oh, you see. I’m a reform imp, trying to correct or repay my past mischiefs. And you were the next one on my list and I’m guessing I can help with whatever this – said pointed to Kara and the general direction of Lena’s penthouse – is, needs my help.

- I don’t think – said Kara, but Mxy cut her off.

- Sh sh sh, don’t need to lie to and old flame, sorry, old friend. – said Mxy taking Kara from her shoulders and pushing her into a couch that had somehow appear – Let’s do a quick recap.

Kara didn’t answer, the scenes in her mind replayed once more, the reality of her own feelings taunting her to see the writing on the walls.

The friendship was only the beginning, the base of which her feelings grew. It was so obvious to her now, the intensity of every moment she had with Lena. Only the raven hair woman had the ability to bring all her emotion to the surface.

It was not just because Lena was her best friend, it was not just love like the one she felt for her sister; she was in love, head over heels, walking down the aisle, wanting to have kids with Lena; and she needed to know.

It was selfish, she knew; but for the first time in a long time, she didn’t care about consequences.

- Thank you, Mxy; but I have to go – said Kara realizing it was already morning.

- We need to talk – was everything Kara said, standing in from of Lena and Andrea in her suit.

- Supergirl – whisper Andrea – How…

- I’m busy right now, Supergirl. Can you come back later to my office – said Lena bluntly.

- It can’t wait – said Kara not moving an inch.

Lena and Kara sized each other up, waiting for one of them to break; but after a few minutes Lena knew Kara wouldn’t budge.

- Andy, I need to deal with this. Can we meet for lunch? – said Lena softly.

- Yes, ok. See you at lunch – said Andrea while placing a kiss in Lena’s lips – I’ll bring you to your office. – And with that she felt.

- What do you want? – said Lena harshly once Andrea left. – I told you I don’t need your protections.

- I’m here to confess – said Kara deactivating her suit. – And I know you don’t want to hear it, but right now I honestly don’t care. I’ve already lost you.

Lena didn’t say anything, so Kara continued – Last night I got the… opportunity to analyze our relationship. To actually understand why everything happened. And I…

- Kara, I don’t need – started Lena.

- Please, just listen – begged Kara – To be honest with myself, I didn’t want to tell you. I didn’t want to lose the way you look at me, like I’m soft and fragile, like a human. I needed you to be just for me, for the part of me that doesn’t need to be strong and to be powerful, the part of me that can break. Alex just be that for me but since I’ve become Supergirl is not the same. And I almost lost her because of my secret.

Kara kept going, looking at Lena with a prayer on her eyes – And I know that you think I treated your differently went I was in the suit, but the true is, I treated you different in any situation. My feelings for you are strong and all consuming, and I didn’t understand them. So, my fears were bigger, my anger was bigger; but also, my love and this constant concern for your life.

And I know I was as asshole with the Kryptonite thing and yes, it was because you made it. Because you were my safe place and I didn’t feel safe anymore; my fears started to dogged into my sanity and I ended up destroying a part of us.  So, I grip the part of us that still existed and hold it tight.

And it looks like I was playing you and using you, but I was just scare of losing you.

It took me time, and when I was ready it was too late.

And now, I figure out why I was so intense with you, why I mess up everything, why I left my fear of losing you blocked the few moments of clarity.

I love you, Lena. I’m in love with you. And I just needed to tell you. I trust you deeply; even if it feels like is impossible, I do and if you give me a chance to show you, I won’t fail you again.

I don’t have any more secrets and I’m not asking you to love me. I’m just begging you for the chance to rebuilt our friendship.

Lena stood there frozen, her brain processing everything that Kara said.

- I’ll wait all the time you need – she took out a watch from her pocket – You can call me using this. And even if you aren’t ready to be my friends, at least let me help you when you needed.

And with that Kara flew away.

It took Lena several minutes to react after Kara’s confession. The irony of the moment washed over her; years waiting to hear those words and when it finally happened was heartbreaking.

- Shit – said Lena failing to stop her tears.

Kara felt better, lighter. Even though the conversation didn’t play as she hoped for, all the truth was out of her chest and in Lena’s hands to do as she wishes.

- Brainy what are you working on? – Kara said after her arrival to the DEO.

- A ground insulator to tried and diminish Rama Khan powers – said Brainy with his eyes fixed in the machine. – Is still a work in progress.

- Something I can do – asked Kara.

- Convince Lena to work with us – said the Coluan.

- She needs time – said Kara picking her nails.

- She needs you to pass a test – said Lena walking towards them with a big metal box on her hand.

- Lena – exhaled Kara blushing. – What is the test?

- In this box there’s a pie, a green apple pie, kryptonite type of green. Is safe for you to eat and I only need for you to take a bite. If you really trust me, you won’t have a problem eating it – Lena left the pie in the table and took a couple of steps back.

Kara was eager to prove her word to Lena and didn’t think it twice.

The moment she opened the box an excruciating pain travel down her body and her veins started to show the kryptonite effects.

- Kara – the concern clear in Brainy voice, he reached to take the pie away but Kara stopped him.

- NO! I’ll do it – Kara stood up, with a shaking hand she took the fork and when for the bite.

The pain didn’t increase so she kept eating it under Lena’s watchful eyes.

- Done – said the superhero taking the last bite left before collapsing once more.

Lena immediately closed the box and all the pain disappeared. – Don’t ever let me do that to you again – even if Lena’s tone was cold, Kara could see the worry tattooed in her gaze.

- I will leave you alone – said Brainy happy that no one else saw the interaction.

- Why you did it? – Lena was upset.

- Because I trust you – said Kara.

- It was cruel – Lena couldn’t look at her.

- I know – said Kara, - but you needed it and I was willing to take it.

- So, this is us now. The vindictive Luthor and the repentant Kriptonian.

- No, I’m hoping this was enough.

- It was – answer Lena with tears in her eyes.

Kara couldn’t stop herself and delicately dried Lena’s tears with her hand. Lena’s heart rate increase with the proximity. – I still need time Kara, I..

- Is ok. You don’t need to do anything more; being here, helping me is more than enough.

Lena smiled coyly.

Chapter Text

An alarm when off cutting their moment and launched the DEO into a frenzy.

Several agents appear guided by Alex, Nia and Brainy appear with their suits ready, and Kara moved next to her sister.

- Is Rama Khan, he’s attacking the new construction downtown. Supergirl take Dreamer, we’ll be behind and Brainy monitored from here. Everybody, move! – said Alex with a commanding voice.

Kara looked at Lena once more before flying away. Lena kept her eyes on the sky until Brainy call for her help.

- Brainy, do you have visuals? – asked Alex.

Brainy started moving different parts of the main control – I have visual. The attacked is located in the construction, Rama Khan is not there but his minions are. – Brainy move again, this time zooming in the monsters – They are… made of clay? No human, they don’t have heart rate. Their strength is beyond the human rate. They don’t appear to have any other power.

Lena could see Kara and Nia land near them and the battle really began.

- I see ten at least – said Kara.

- Have five on my site – confirmed Nia checking the other side.

- Brainy. Tell me the number? – asked Alex.

- I’m counting forty in total; the team needs to separate in smaller teams and comb the area.

- We are here – said Alex appearing in the screen.

Lena have never seen them fight like these, it was extremely nerve-racking and she fear that Kara could get hurt. The monsters weren’t as easy to destroyed as they hope for and she noticed how the team started to lose stamina.

- Lena, I need to go and help them. You can keep things in check here – said while putting his legion ring and flying away.

Lena took over the controls fast.

- Alex, you have three monsters turning the corner – said Lena. – They’re distracted, you can surprise them.

- Dreamer, Brainy is on his way, try and made them follow you to a higher level so you can take them with his help.

- Supergirl, used your freeze breath directly to their heads. I think that would stop them.

They fight started to go their way when suddenly Rama Kham appear at the DEO and a new battle started.

- Guys – said Lena turning to face the men – he’s here.

A group of agents started to fight him, but they were falling like flies. Lena hid behind the controls and started to look into her pocket for her most recent upgrade. She found the small metal sphere and put it in her watch. It immediately converted into a glove; with a movement of her fingers, she had a laser to attacked.

She them moved closer to the falling agents and with another movement an energy shield appear helping her protect herself and the agents around.

Once Rama Khan located her, his strategy shift and he went for her.

The moment Kara heard Lena’s warning she wanted to leave immediately, her entire being was guiding her to safe Lena; but she knew better, she asked Alex for a confirmation that they can handle the situation. She got the confirmation seconds later and with that, she flew back to the base.

When Kara arrived, she looked for Lena. She was seconds from receiving a direct hit from Rama Khan. She moved fast in from of Lena and attacked with her hit vision.

Her attack didn’t affect him for long and as soon as he recovered when back to attack them.

Lena’s shield rose again, but this time accompany by an energy blast and Kara complemented Lena’s attack with her hit vision.

Rama Khan was affected by their attack, but not enough to stop him. And he was about to respond when the rest of the team managed to return.

Noticing he was out number, he disappeared.

- Lena, I’ll need you help looking for a way to stop him. – said Brainy and Lena follow him to his lab.

Alex got close to Kara – Lena is here – said softly.

- Yeah, she is here.

- And how are things? – asked Alex.

- Better – said Kara hopeful.

- That’s it?

- Yeah – Kara smiled. – A start.

- I’m happy for you, sis – said Alex giving her a one arm hug.

The news started to play in one of the monitors “New villains emerge in National City” said the title of the news – In their typical heroic fashion. Supergirl, Dreamer and company control a new wave of attacks on National City’s downtown. We don’t have confirmation of this new menace, but… - the presenter kept talking but Kara was fixated with the world he used: “heroic”. She didn’t feel that way, today she almost left everything behind to safe Lena; she didn’t care about her team or the destruction that Rama Khan’s creation could cause, she only cared about keeping Lena safe. 

Today was an easy choice, she knew the DEO had enough agents to hold Rama Khan long enough for her to arrive; but if next time he tries to attack Lena in her office or home, she wouldn’t wait.

- Which invention we’ll continue to work on? – asked Lena when her and Brainy were alone in his lab.

- After analyzing his abilities, I’m certain this three will give us the best result – Brainy showed the design in his screen – The isolator – which goal was to isolate Rama Khan from the earth or it’s elements, - the dampening handcuffs – that will neutralize his powers while he has them on, - and the gun – which still require the Jarhanpurium to work.

- Ok, it’s time to work.

For the two of them, working together was easy and with the heads up they had, the three prototypes were ready in a couple of days.

Being around her former friends wasn’t easy, Lena limited herself to work with Brainy and just said hello to Kara when she was around.

If Nia or Alex tried to talk to her, she didn’t notice.

Brainy only presented two of the three prototypes to the superfriends. This work almost perfect, just a couple of adjustment.

- Why didn’t you show them the gun? – asked Lena later.

- They won’t want it – said Brainy – the DEO has a no lethal weapons policy.

- But lethal is not the only option in the design – said Lena, trying to understand.

- I rather have it as a backup plan – said Briany – and we still need the Jarhanpurium to see if it works and to analyze the composition of Jarhanpur; maybe we can find the element of this planet that would invalid his power, something like the red sun for Kryptonians.

- You want to created a false atmosphere for him – asked Lena.

- You had some design on it, right? – Brainy pushed knowing when Lena thought about those types of designs.

Lena’s tone changed – Those designs are not

Brainy interrupted her – Doesn’t matter, I put an extra layer of protection on them. We’ve already talked about this, I’m not judging you, I’m just asking to used one of them as the base for our fourth prototype.

- Let’s get to work – said Lena.

- I need to make a small piece of Kryptonite – Lena told Kara, with Brainy by her side.

Alex and Nia waited for Kara’s reaction to act. Alex looked guarded and Nia anxious.

To Lena’s surprise Kara didn’t react alarm or offended as she did the last time, she only showed a little bit of fear.

- We have a device that recreates Krypton’s environment and we need to prove if it works – said Lena.

Now Kara looked intrigue – Like a red sun emitter? – asked.

- That was the base idea, but is a little bit more complex than that – said Lena.

- We want to see if the machine can take an element from your planet and recreated the atmosphere of Krypton, not only making you immune to kryptonite but also neutralizing your powers. – said Brainy taking the lead.

Kara looked interested, so Brainy continue – We are going to tried with two elements in different forms. Regular kryptonite, that we found on one of Lex’s bolts; synthetic kryptonite, following Lena’s recipe; and Harun-El, your mother could send us a small fragment again; and synthetic Harun-El, also Lena’s recipe.

- Why so many tries? – asked Kara.

- With the real a synthetic is to check if we can recreate an element from Rama Khan’s home planet and use it. Or if we need a real piece of it.

- And with the kryptonite and Harun-El is to see if we can use any element of the planet, even a harmful one without hurting the person inside. – concluded Lena, seeing that Kara was willing to listen.

- Ok – said Kara – let’s try it out.

A couple of more weeks when by until the atmosphere emitter was ready.

They got lucky that Rama Khan didn’t show his face during all this time.

They were ready now.

- Everyone is ready? – asked Lena, most of the superfriends were outside the retaining wall.

Brainy activated the emitter with the real Harun-el, a soft red glow was visual inside the dome that the emitter created.

- Kara, is your turn – said Lena.

Kare enter the dome at ease and felt normal, she didn’t have her powers.

- First part of the trial. Can you exit the dome – asked Brainy.

Kara tried and couldn’t exit.

-  Test number one, success – wrote Brainy – second part of the trial. Tried and use your power.

Kara tried all of them and nothing.

- Last part of the trial – said Brainy – Lena, bring the kryptonite.

Kara saw the emerald stone in Lena’s hands. Fer first reaction was fear, she couldn’t help it, she still remembers the pain; but then her eyes focus on the other emerald color thing in the room, Lena’s eyes. Her eyes were full of sorrow and hope and Kara understood why; so, she took a deep breath and hope of a positive result.

Kara took the rock in her hands and felt nothing.

They repeat it again with the synthetic version of the harun-el and work the same.

The tension rose again when they tried with kryptonite, but the dome looked the same and Kara trusted Lena and Bariny’s work.

So, she looked one more time into Lena’s eyes and walk towards the dome. And it worked perfectly, Kara never felt pain.

The same happened with the synthetic kryptonite.

- Ok, and how can we use this to stop Rama Khan? – asked Alex after.

Brainy walk towards the nears computer – Jarhanpurium is Rama Khan kryptonite, is the only element I’ve been able to identify and I’m trying to located.

- Our idea is to use the emitter in his prison cell – said Lena.

Lena finally could rest longer than five hours, she got home and put on her favorite pajamas.

Order Italian food and pair it with one of her cheapest wines, she was ready to relax when a familiar sound hit her balcony.

Lena left her wine glass in her coffee table and went to the kryptonian.

- Lena, sorry to bother you but I would like you to use this – said Kara giving her a small circular device. – Is a reinforce shield, it will put a shield around your penthouse, not only on the sides, also up and down. I know you have a amazing security systems, but a little bit extra always help. Brainy made it, everyone in the team got one, even me and I’ll use it and I was hoping you will too, you know, is important to be safe and …

- Kara, Kara, stop. I’ll use it, don’t worry. I’m guessing once it’s activated, no one will be able to enter or leave?

- Yes, you only have to double tap on any part and it will be activated, has enough rage to cover all your penthouse.

- Ok, thank you – said Lena giving Kara a genuine smile, Kara smiled back and left.

Lena observed the device, a sense of warn envelope her, is being a long time since she felt this care for.

 Since Kara’s confession, Lena only focused in the immediate part, trust. That’s why she wanted to prove Kara’s word with one of her most sadistic tests.

The second she saw the pain in Kara, she regretted it. Her heart break with every spoonful, but her pride kept her unmoving.

 Since that moment, her feelings for the superhero started to transform again. All the hate, resentment and anger slowly disappeared and gave way to forgiveness, understanding and care.

She wasn’t ready to call Kara a friend, or to fully admit that the feelings she had were still there; but she was ready to start again, to accept this new beginning.

She has finally taken Kara out of the pedestal and saw her as she was; a flawed but hopeful person, a brave but fearful person, a happy but melancholic person.

The sunshine of her life had days of clouds and that was ok, that was human.

Rama Khan had healed and his next step was finally ready.

---

- Supergirl, Dreamer. Rama Khan is attacking the east side of the city, near the pine forest. – Lena was helping the team constantly now. L-Corp was in Sam’s hands once more.

- On our way – said Dreamer.

- Alfa team on position. Beta and Gamma team move nearby in case we need backup. Omega team be ready in case he decides to attack the DEO again or another part of town. – Alex informed.

- Team, be aware he is more powerful the closes he is to natural spaces. – said Brainy.

The battle started, this time taking out his minions was easier, they have the experience. Rama Khan attacked Kara directly, she managed to keep herself on the air minimizing his earth attacks; but he was strong and she was getting tired.

- Kara – Lena called to her – tap your suit twice in the chess.

Kara did as Lena said and a warn feeling invade her body and she felt stronger.

- A solar waves, in case you were wondering – said Lena cocky.

Rama Khan invoke more monsters and Kara had to fight them all.

While she was distracted, Rama Khan moved to a different part of the battle and lure the alpha team towards the forest.

A fog enveloped them and screams were heard.

- No, no – scream Alex – Beta team, Gamma team. Enter the forest but be careful, activate the shields.

She did the same and started to follow her first team. Nia joined her seconds later.

- Shield activated? – Alex asked.

- Yes – said Nia. – Can you see? – asked Nia.

- No, tried and project your energy – said Alex and Nia did.

Nia could see DEO agents’ unconscious, some were hurt, other probably death. Beyond them, pine cones decorated the forest floor and at the end Rama Khan was playing with them, making them rotated like the leaves in her dreams.

He felt her presence and attacked.

Nia and Alex didn’t have a change, the only reason they weren’t death is their shields and the fast response of Brainy.

Brainy found them tied up to the pine trees and unresponsive.

It took the medical team ten hours to get them out of surgery. Several broken bones, minor brain inflammation and out of commission for the near future.

Kara was devastated, all the ten hours Lena had to block her powers to protect her and kept her grounded. Brainy stayed close to Lena for conform also. The three of them keeping each other near just so they can handle what happened.

J’onn arrived late at night with M’gann. After his trip to Mars, he was ready to join the fight and he also felt guilty of no coming back soon.

Ten DEO agents were also hurt and two of them died before help could arrived. Brainy moved most of them in his ship, follow by Lena’s plane.

The news sides were reporting about the fall of Dreamer and the name Rama Khan.

When Alex and Nia finally awaken, it had been almost ten days.

J’onn was the temporary Director of the DEO and Kara had talked to Kelly about what happened and about who she really was. Kara had sought the advice of Lena before making this decision.

The injuries that Alex and Nia sustain would keep them out of the field for a month at least, which meant that Rama Khan had to attack before. All of them knew that and even if Alex and Nia complain, the decision had been made.

Those ten days impacted Brainy deeply and he had made his mind, the data support his decision, he will use the gun and kill Rama Khan.

Brainy and Lena were once again going through all the possible combinations of energy and elements they could came up with to track the Jarhanpurium when the alarm of L-Corp was activated.

- Kara, take me to L-Corp, fast – demanded Lena and Kara did it.

When they arrived, it was already too late, her labs had been destroyed and L-Corps data base had been access.

Lena couldn’t let her anger and anxiety distract her, so she accessed her systems and start to check everything. Minutes later Brainy arrived to help.

Kara flew around the building to check any try to find evidence of the attackers.

- I found it – said Brainy somber and Lena was next to him immediately - They took your designs, Lena. The ones you did after your fight with Kara.

Lena almost collapse, the only thing preventing her from hitting the floor were Kara’s arms.

- What is it?

- A new problem – said Lena with tears in her eyes.

Nothing else was taken from L-Corp, the destruction was a misdirect; but this didn’t stop Lena from blaming herself.

It almost destroyed her to stand in from of her team and tell them each and every one of her inventions, they only listen and she wasn’t capable of looking them in the eyes.

When Lena finished talking, she couldn’t continue being there but she couldn’t leave, her only option is to take a couple of minutes alone to get a handle in her emotions.

That was too much to ask for Kara, so she follow Lena as soon as she left the debrief room.

- Lena, please, wait.

And Lena stopped because she couldn’t deny anything to Kara.

- I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. I’ve never had the intention of using them, you have to believe me – begged Lena.

- I know – said Kara hugging her – I know, and I get it. Ok? I get it. You have to canalize your anger and believe me when I said, this is one of the healthiest ways you could came up with.

- But – Lena kept crying.

- A normal person wouldn’t, but you are especial Lena and I did hurt you deeply.

Lena looked at her and she only saw kindness - I won’t lie, if you have created any of them or use them on me, maybe the story would be a little bit different, maybe it would have taken more to forgive you; but you didn’t, they were only designs and I know you can find a way to protect me from any of them – said Kara.

When Lena went back none of the superfriends were looking at her with judgment, they looked concern but because of the designs.

- How fast do you think Rama Khan could build any one of them? – asked Alex.

- Depends on how fast they decoded my work – all of them looked a Lena perplex – I used an especial code to write and design everything. You are looking at the decoded version of it, only because I entered my security key. If Rama Khan tries to open my files, he wouldn’t obtain this.

- How? Why? When? – asked Alex still perplex.

- Is one of the things I learned from Lex. My most important and personal work has this code.

- Ok. So, we have time – said Alex – What can we do?

- We can work in defense devices for Supergirl, Brainy and I can work on them – Brainy nodded.

- We have a plan them. Brainy any news about the Jarhanpurium?

- The last combination is being search around the globe now, if this one work, we’ll hear an alarm – and in that moment Brainy’s computer alarm started ringing.

Brainy reacted immediately – we have a possible location – said Brainy excited, - but it can’t be – his expression change.

- What is it Brainy?

- It’s located near the National City’s Forest, where he attacked you – Brainy was confuse.

 - Maybe that’s why… – started Nia.

- What? – asked Brainy.

- When he was attacking us there was a moment when he stopped and he looked affected – said Nia.

- I thought he was taunting us before killing us – said Alex and a cold shiver round Kara’s body.

- Yes, and when he was about to move again you arrived and he run away – said Nia. – Maybe he wasn’t taunting us, maybe he started to feel the effects of the Jarhanpurium.

- That would explain why he run and not just disappear into the earth.

- We need to check this forest – said Kara.

- You need backup – complain Alex.

- Alex, you can’t – dismiss Kara.

- But I can – said Lena. – Brainy can work with my designs and I can go with you, you do need backup.

- Lena, you don’t have a – started Kara.

- A suit? – said Lena with a smirk in her face – But darling, I do have a suit – Lena pressed down a bottom in her watch and a Lexosuit appear. – It’s face on my brother’s design, but mine doesn’t have any kryptonite.

The suit was slim and had a simple look, like a second robust skin, all black.

- It looks light. Are you sure is gonna hold? – asked Kara, not convince of exposing Lena to extra danger; but as soon as she finished her question, Lena started a demonstration of her suit.

The suit was amazing, had blasters, guns, and explosives; a energy shield that could move to Lena’s commands and it could fly too.

- Ok then. Lena and I will go for Jarhanpurium.

Brainy gave them a tracker and send them.

The air was chilly, winter was getting closer and, Kara and Lena were once again alone.

Once they reach the forest, they decided for a slower approach, if Alex and Nia were right, Rama Khan was hurt and that meant his connection with the elements of earth have diminish. So, they needed to behave like two regular people walking around the forest.

- A forgot about the weather change – said Lena shivering.

- Oh – said Kara. – Here, use my jacket, I don’t feel cold.

It took Lena some seconds to process, sometimes it was easy to forget Kara was Supergirl.

- Thank you – said Lena. – You don’t feel cold, right?

Kara smiled – I know is cold, but it doesn’t affect my body – said Kara – the same with hit. I can feel it, but I don’t suffer the consequences of it.

- Has to be nice – said Lena smiling too. – Can I ask you more about it? – said Lena shyly.

- Yes, please – Kara’s cheeks painted red – I always wanted to talk to you about it.

- Ok, let’s go for the basics. How do your powers work? Are they always on?

Kara wanted to laugh – There always available, but not always on and they’re quite instinctive. Let’s see. My super strength is always there, I had to learn to control it so I can touch other without hurting them. – Lena could sense sadness in Kara’s tone - My hearing is the most annoying; the glasses are mostly for that, beyond a disguise; they are made of lead. I hear the same way humans do but in a longer distance, I think; but if I focus in one sound, I can track it.

- So, more distance, more noises, equals annoying – said Lena and Kara nodded. – What else?

- Flying is something I can’t explain, I cand just do it, like running really fast. I only jump and fly. I can float too, but you have seen me do it.

Kara continued talking about it and Lena enjoy listening to Kara.

- If I can ask. How you end up with the Danvers? We have always had that in common.

- I arrived years after Superman, I.. I was trap in the phantom zone, is a space where time doesn’t move – Lena could see this was a tough subject for Kara, she reached for her hand and squeeze a little to give comfort. – He was the one who found, he was already out there fighting and couldn’t take care of me; so, he asked The Danvers to take me in and they did. It was no easy, but I’m happy I have Eliza, Alex and Jeremiah.

- How old were you?

- Thirteen.

They kept walking on silence, until Kara started again – Please, don’t take this the wrong way, is only curiosity. I get why you created the kryptonite, Sam needed it. But, what do you wanted with the harun-el?

Lena could feel the honesty in Kara’s voice – I wanted to create a cure for any kind of disease, I always wanted that, the super powers were a side effect.

- Did you ever figure it out?

- No, I drop it after Lex. He corrupted it and I haven’t been able to continue.

- Maybe after – said Kara – I could help – Lena smiled – If Krypton didn’t die, I could have become part of the science guild by fourteen. – there was pride in Kara’s voice.

Lena was shock – How many times did you pretend not to understand science with me?

- Several, – said laughing – but somethings I really didn’t know.

- Why? – asked Lena intrigue.

- Uhmmm, do you know how the first phone worked, the landline?

Lena went through all her knowledge of phones and nothing. – No really. Not like I know how cellphones worked. Even if is important for other, for me, is already obsolete.

- Exactly. That’s the same for me.

 Lena looked shock and offended, and Kara couldn’t stop her laugh.

It was so easy talking to Kara, being like this, even if the subject was about Supergirl; she still could see her friend in every word, every gesture, every smile.

- I’m ready now – said Lena – I’m ready to be your friend – Lena wanted to be so much more, but she needed to heal.

Kara smile was full of hope and happiness.

The tracker started moving towards the north.

- This is it – said Kara and Lena nodded.

The follow the tracker’s direction and found an old looking three.

Lena and Kara work carefully to remove a big amount of the material without breaking the harmony of the forest.

It took them almost thirty minutes.

- I think we need to move fast – said Lena – He can’t trap us right now; we need to take this to Brainy.

- I’ll fly us to the DEO.

In a flow of movement, Kara took Lena in her arms – bridal style – and flew as fast as she could.

- We are here – said Kara putting Lena down.

- And we have the Jarhanpurium – complement Lena.

Brainy moved to take the briefcase – Let’s get to work.

The false atmosphere was easily adapted to the element and days later they had implemented the system to one of the DEO cells.

Now Brainy was trying to replicated the element’s characteristic to create a synthetic version.

The protection to all Lena’s designs were already made, but Lena still was trying to create a portable energy buster for Kara, a portable sun she called it.

She knew how to mimic the solar energy, she had done it before with the solar wave install in Kara’s suit; but she was having a problem with the container, none of her ideas were capable to maintain it.

Hours had pass, Nia had taken Brainy for a break and Lena was alone in the lab; or at least she thought she was alone.

 - Have time for a break? – asked Alex surprising Lena.

When Lena turned, Alex had two glasses and a bottle of scotch. – Is not your fancy one, but is good – said the redhead.

Lena smiled a little and follow the redhead to her office. The office surprise Lena, it was bigger that she expected and had character; it wasn’t the regular military office, it has Alex’s style on it.

They sat in Alex’s marron leather couch, Alex poured the drinks and just sad there for a few minutes before the director started to talk.

- I was the one that persuaded Kara to keep her identity from everyone – said Alex – I won’t lie and say it told her not to tell you, I did tell her not to trust you when you arrived but nothing beyond that.

- That’s the point, isn’t it? – said Lena – Even if you told her, I’m guessing she chose James, Win and Nia to share her secret with; but not me. She has explained why, I still don’t fully understand; but at least she had a reasoning behind it.

- Well, Superman told James. Yes, she told Winn and it was the only one she told for her. Nia was an especial case, but I can tell you it was more for Nia’s benefit than Kara’s. And Winn was her friend from longer than you have been.

- So, it was a time thin? -said Lena taking a sip of her drink, not wanting to let her anger out.

- Maybe at the beginning, but after it wasn’t. – said Alex not knowing how to follow with the conversation.

- You know what I don’t get. Your behavior was easy to understand at the beginning and now knowing she is your sister, I get it. But, when we were chasing Eve and Lex you defended me, acted like Kara was in the wrong; which it’s completely different to your behavior when you found out I made kryptonite.

- Oh, yeah. And I can explain it. J’onn had to wipe my memory from knowing Kara was Supergirl. - Lena just look at her not knowing how to react. – The president wanted to know Kara’s identity and we didn’t like the request; Kara did work for us but her identity was a non-negotiable. – said Alex taking a longer sip – They send someone to monitored us and to interview us with not so friendly technics; seeing this the DEO agents that knew her identity accept to have their memories wipe of Kara’s identity including me.

- Ok, that explains a lot – said Lena.

- it was painful for Kara – said Alex looking older – she doesn’t like to talk about it now, but the only reason I recovered my memories was because I almost see her died. – Alex couldn’t contain a couple of silent tears.

Lena and Alex continued in silence for a while.

- Beyond the reasons Kara gave you, I can tell you by experience that she has see me in danger just because I was her sister. My dad was taking by the DEO because it was him or Kara, she was fourteen; I got recruited for Kara and I tried to prevent her for being Supergirl. Even if it wasn’t the main reason, Kara knows the pain that her secret can cause.

- I get it – said Lena, taking in everything that Alex said.

- I hope you do, because she cares about you and I just wanted to give you another perspective on her secret.

- Can I ask what happened to your dad? – said Lena.

- Your mother captured him to work for Cadmus and even if your mom is in prison he still is hiding. We got a letter a couple of months ago saying he was safe but not to look for him.

- Cadmus is no longer a concern.

- Cadmus is no longer a big concern, but they’re people still fateful to its ideals and is not safe for him to come back yet.

- I’m sorry – said Lena, knowing her mother made that organization grow.

- Is not your fault. You didn’t decide it. As it’s not Nia’s or Brainy’s fault that Kara kept her secret from you. I’m not as innocent as they are, but I hope you know it’s because I don’t trust people with my sister’s origins in general.

Lena was curious with one more detail – Not my last name?

- It mattered for a while, but during my memory lost period I could removed my feelings from the situation and knew you’ve never done anything to deserve my distrust.

- Not even my designs that were stole for Rama Khan? – insisted Lena.

- The DEO used to have kryptonite and we used to made Kara train in an environment with low kryptonite emitters. And I didn’t have a problem with it.

Lena and Alex continued to drink the scotch, seeing the beginning of a new kind of relationship being born. No more secret, same grey type of morals.

Kara was doing better, after everything that happened with Lena, she was happy their relationship was already a friendship, a fragile but growing friendship and she was ok with it; or at least that what she thought.

Since their conversation and everything that happened with Rama Khan, she’ll be checking Lena’s surroundings just in case something out of the ordinary happened.

The problem was that know she knew how much time Lena spend with Andrea, and it was a lot for her liking.

She knew they were working in a new product together and that they were childhood friends, but it was obvious Andrea wanted something more that friendship and for the comments she made it looked like they used to be more than friends. And she was jealous, and she never been jealous like this before.

She remembered how it felt with James and Lucy, and with Mon-El and Imra; and even if both of those experiences weren’t easy to have, they were nothing compare with.

She felt possessive, something so primal and so foreign for her; is like every moment Lena was giving attention to Andrea, it was a moment she didn’t get.

She talked about it with Kelly and she saw the psychologist laugh about it. She told Kara that her relationship with Lena was always beyond complicated and the fact that she got clarity now pushed her to have those feelings. She said that with time it would be easier to handle.

Kara tried to focus on it, on tried and accept it. And she was doing it, or at least she didn’t show her distaste for Andrea to Lena; but James had to talk to her about Lena.

James, being a little bit distance from all her recent drama, didn’t know about her feelings for Lena, not even about their fall out. So, when he came to her for advice to win over Lena again, Kara had to control her powers not to fried James right there.

James didn’t understand but didn’t pressure.

But now, Kara’s days were not only listening to Andrea’s one liners, but also James’s tries. It was driving her crazy and all the superfriends knew it, they even have a code to avoid Kara went she had check in on Lena.

Her only solace was that Lena didn’t look interested in them. James gave up after two weeks, Andrea got the message after a month.

Christmas arrived faster than everyone expected, Rama Khan hasn’t attack in months and between the moments of peace the fear feasters.

Everyone was on high alert and Kara knew they all need a break. With that in mind she called Eliza to see If she was willing to received extra people this year. Eliza accepted in a heartbeat.

Everyone was on board deciding on what to bring, the only one that seeing distance from the discussion was Lena.

- Lena? – asked Kara seeing the CEO walk away from her friends. – What is it?

- I don’t know if it’s a good idea… me being there… with your family.

- Is a good idea, you are part of this family and even if you don’t feel it yet, I hope you get to that point and maybe doing Christmas with us could help. – Kara didn’t thought about all the repercussion of her lie, Lena not feeling welcome was one.

Lena still looked unsure, so Kara tried again – Please, Lena. You know is the best for us to be together right now.

Kara knew it was a little manipulative to say that, but she also knew there was logic behind it and Lena saw it too. She agreed.

- I can bring the alcohol – said the Luthor getting back into the conversation.

They kept talking about their Christmas preparation and went everything was decided Lena offer her help using a portal to move everyone from Kara’s to Eliza’s.

With everything she had on her plate, it took longer than expected to incorporate all of her watch functions to the one Kara had given her. So, using it for her friends’ trip to Midvale look like the best way to show it off.

- Everyone is ready? – asked Kara.

All the superfriends were there and ready to go.

- Ok, Lena activated the portal please.

Lena smiled and followed Kara’s direction, she opened the portal to Eliza’s living room where she was waiting for them.

Alex was the first to walk through and Kara the last one. Once Kara had made it, Lena closed the portal and follow the rest of her friends.

Eliza was giving Kara a hug when she spotted Lena. Eliza let go of Kara and opened her arms to the Luthor heir.

Lena was surprise, she had met Eliza before but this was the first time the Danvers matriarch offered her a hug.

A little bit unsure, Lena walked towards Eliza and Eliza didn’t lose time and wrap her in a hug. It felt amazing; she always thought Kara’s warn was a kryptonian trait, but now she knew it was from her adoptive family.

She didn’t linger as long as she wanted because everything was still new for her.

Kara sensed Lena’s feelings and immediately stood by her side offering some comfort which Lena appreciate.

Dinner moved on a simple and happy pace, everyone talked about random subjects and anecdotes, mostly about Kara’s clumsiness and Alex’s emo years. And without noticing Lena felt home, felt like this particular group of people were her family.

She had forgiven Kara and never actually was upset with Brainy; but after talking with Alex, she had made an effort to spend time with Nia, Kelly and Alex. It was fascinating for her to find similarities between her and the rest of the superfriends.

She always thought Kara was the only one who could get her; however, she had found this to be untruth. Alex and her share a similar way of seeing things, which was unsettling. Nia and her had a love of Italian food and comic books; beyond the fact that they both deeply missed their birthmothers and felt a disconnect with them because of everything that happened after their respective loses. Thanks to Nia she got the idea of maybe looked for her mother’s hometown. And finally with Kelly was an opposite attract kind of relationship; where Lena was pessimistic and narrowminded, Kelly was optimistic and open to listen. At the beginning she thought Kelly was there to analyze her and give her unwanted therapy, but after a few coffee dates more, she saw it was just her trying to support the CEO and be a friend, a better friend she has had in a long time. Some part of her knew she needed to talk with Sam more.

- Ok, is too late and most of you have a few too many. – said Eliza. – Alex and Kelly can share the guest room. Nia and Brainy, there’s a bed in my studio for you two. J’onn has accepted to sleep in the couch. And Kara and Lena can share the girl’s childhood room.

Everyone followed Eliza’s orders. Most of them content with the arrangement, and even if Kara and Lena moved to her designated room both had a nervous energy around them.

Kara was worried and excited to show Lena her room, and Lena was worried and excited to share a room with Kara.

- Welcome to my room.. well Alex and mine’s room, childhood room, no grownups because we both move when we started college and well, we never change anything and we were ok with leaving the room as it was… you know… so yes, is pink and white and the beds are small, but not that small you know and.

- Kara breathe, is ok – said Lena – I get it.

Lena finally looked around the room and it was obvious a kid’s room, two sisters with so different styles. Kara’s was the typical girlie room and Alex’s was the emo side that her mom talked about during dinner.

The curious thing was that even if Kara’s side of the room look typical, if you observe closely, you could see small models of atoms, some formulas she didn’t even understand and a couple of kryptonian letters here and there. And at the top of her bed a painting of a sunset with an orange almost red type of sun.

It was just like Kara, if you look fast, you could dismiss the small details that made Kara shine brighter.

Lena smiled back at Kara making the girl of steel relax.

- What side would you like? – said Kara.

- Yours – said Lena and Kara had the feeling she wasn’t talking about the room.

Kara lent Lena a makeshift pj’s and lied down in their respective sides.

Silence was heavy and neither of them wanted to sleep yet, so Lena ventured a question.

- Did you paint this? – said pointing to the sunset painting – I remember seeing a painting set in your apartment. – said Lena a little bit anxious still.

- No, I didn’t, I found it in a farmers’ market and asked Eliza for it. She bought it for me. I did get my first painting set because of it. – Kara answer peacefully.

- Do you still paint? – continued Lena relaxing now.

- Less than before. Being Supergirl took time away from me. But when I have a slow weekend, I tried to paint… Do you have a hobby? – asked Kara trying to prolonged their conversation.

- When I was at school I used to fence, is the only type of physical sport I could do. But now, I liked to go to museums and lost myself in other people work. Art is something that escapes my abilities.

- Maybe someday we could go to a museum together – offered Kara.

- I would love that – said Lena blushing.

They fall sleep after that.

The next morning was a messy affair. Everyone was trying to help in the kitchen and got zero done until Lena send them all to clean the house and the pathway while she, Eliza and Kelly made breakfast for everyone.

They mix some typical breakfast food with leftovers from their dinner, an ended by making a new batch of hot coco.

When breakfast was served, Kelly called everyone to the table and Kara was the first to arrive.

If anyone walked pass the Danvers’ house would see a picture-perfect family, full of laughter and love.

- Hello, Miss Luthor – said the blonde woman entering Lena’s office.

- You were faster than I expected – said Lena standing up to greet the woman.

- With the offer you made is difficult for anyone to resist.

- Well, I hope this is the beginning of a fruitful business partnership. I’m glad we finally meet, Miss. Grant – said Lena, extending her hand to Cat.

- So, my elevator is no longer just mine – said Cat to Lena.

- I didn’t see the point – said Lena.

- Is about status – answer Cat.

The elevator stopped and everyone in it expect for Cat and Lena left.

- I don’t need an elevator to show my status – provoked Lena seeing it was just the two of them.

- Oh dear, is not about needed. I imagine your mother taught you that.

- I tried not to follow my mother’s teachings.

- Take the good, and let go of the bad. – said smiling while the doors of the top floor opened.

Cat and Lena walked like they were in a runway; it was impossible for anyone to take their eyes of them.

Kara was speechless just like everyone around.

- Hello everyone. I’m here to make a small announcement. Catco has a new head, Cat Grant. We just finalize negotiations today and she has bought part of her share back and with my support she will be the one to decide the future of this company. I trust she will made of Catco the future of media.

Everyone was still in shock, but a couple of people started to applaud and the rest follow.

- Thank you, Miss Luthor. Now, for the rest of you – Cat made a dramatic pause - We’ll have a staff meeting in twenty minutes. Kara Danvers will break the news and Mister Olsen, please to my office now. Chop, chop, everyone – said Cat with glee on her eyes.

Lena smiled and follow Cat, with Kara and James in toe.

- Mister Olsen. I’m back as acting CEO and Editor in Chief, and I want you as my Creative Director. – said Cat – I know is not a change you expected, so I’ll give you the week to think about it. – and with that, Cat moved her focus to Kara – Miss Danvers, you can start. I need this article by the end of the day.

Cat and Lena answer all of Kara’s questions. It was exciting for Lena to see Kara work as a reporter and she couldn’t denied Kara’s raw talent, she hoped that young reporter could use her time to grown this part of herself and having Cat Grant back could help her achieve that.

Lena knew Cat wanted Kara to be the next Editor in Chief and she supported this decision, but both of them knew Kara needed to prove she was worth of such title.

The Queen of all media is back – was the title Kara came up with. The article described the new chain of command, Lena’s decision to sell part of her actions back to Cat and Cat’s ideas for her new chapter in Catco.

With all the courage she had, Kara invited Lena to her apartment for a movie night with homemade food, and Lena said yes.

So now Kara was trying her batch number five of cake batter and already gave up on making dinner.

She was getting frustrated with herself, why did she promise a homemade dinner, why?!

She could just say movie night, buy some pizzas and call it a success; but she wanted to make tonight especial, she wanted to show Lena her love language “food”.

So, now she was trapped and didn’t know what to do.

- Alex, help!!! – said Kara the moment Alex pick up.

- What happened now? – asked a sleepy Alex.

- I promise Lena a homemade dinner, and I have nothing.

- Breather Kara, breathe. Do you have recipes?

- Yes, but none of them

- Did you follow all the instructions, including time? – Kara didn’t answer – Kara…

- Nop – said Kara and Alex could feel the pout.

- Just as you needed to give Lena time to forgive you, you need to give the food time. Tried again and this time when you get impatient think about Lena.

Kara took a deep breath and started.

Preheat the oven – she read, when to her oven, put the right temperature and continued.

In a large bowl, whisk together the Guinness stout, softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs until well combined. – Kara did as it says; and every time she wanted to whisk using her superspeed or superstrength, she thought about Lena; about their walk in the forest, their time together during Christmas, her excitement with her new project.

She did the same with every step. When she finally put the batter in the oven and programed an alarm for thirty minutes, she felt at peace. Yes, the rest of their dinner would be outsourced, but the dessert was all Kara.

She checked in the better was fully cooked and take the cake out to cool off.

Lena took a Deep breath and knock on the door. A smiling Kara opened the door for her – Lena! – said excited.

- Hello, darling. I brought wine, one white and one red, I wasn’t sure what type you would like.

- Is perfect, thank you – Kara and Lena moved to the kitchen – Confession time. I order dinner, but I did make dessert.

- Ok, so what wine goes with dinner? – asked Lena smiling.

Having dinner together felt peaceful for both women, it’s was like coming back home after a long day; none of them said anything about it, but both feel it. They talked about everything they could think of and it didn’t feel force.

- Is time for dessert – said Kara – I really hope it takes good.

Kara showed Lena the cake and it look good enough – Is a Chocolate Guinness Cake – Lena was surprised, she couldn’t believe Kara remembered. – I hope you like it. – Kara sliced two pieces and served them the with wine.

Lena took a bite of the cake and couldn’t contain a moan of satisfaction that colored Kara’s cheeks.

- This is really good, Kara. I haven’t had such a good cake in a long time – Lena hugged Kara tightly. Kara returned the hug don’t want it to end.

They stayed like that, feeling happy and safe.

This is not the way Lena thought her night would end, with her lying next to Kara after the blond convinced her to stayed the night like old times.

Now, Lena was looking at the ceiling, incapable of moving because the warn of Kara’s body was irresistible.

Lena’s mind travel around her memories with Kara, all the good memories she has with her. Their lunch dates, their discussion about Backstreet Boys and N’sync; to the deepest ones that were also the most recent ones, about Krypton, their families, their childhoods. It was like a rom-com in her head, painting everything in pink.

Lena tried to let those memories go and her most masochists side showed her their saddest moments together. They came back but this time she didn’t feel the pain she usually did; it wasn’t a happy experience, but it felt more like a lesson learn than the condemnation of a love destined to fail.

Her story with Kara was the most complex one she ever experienced, and she has experienced all kinds of problematic relationship.

Her story with Kara looked like an adventure with good moments and difficult ones. And after finding Kara’s true identity, she thought that adventure had ended. But it hasn’t and she was ready to admit that she didn’t want it to end.

Her story with Kara was the adventure of a lifetime and she was ready to embrace it, for better or for worst, for every fight and every smile.

Her story with Kara was ready to have another chapter, a chapter of romance. One she hoped would never end.

The realization of this made Lena laugh and cried like she hasn’t in a long time.

Kara woke up the moment she heard Lena – Hey, hey, Lena. What’s wrong? – said Kara touching Lena’s face trying to made her focus on her. – Lena, look at me – Kara asked.

Lena turned after hearing Kara plea, she couldn’t deny Kara anything.

When she turned, the first thing she saw was Kara’s blue eyes shining like sapphires with concern and sleep; and Lena couldn’t wait any more, she leaned in and meet Kara’s lips kissing her.

Kara’s reaction was fast, she returned Lena’s kiss without holding back. Kara had dream about it the last few months and it was a perfect as she imagined.

The kiss was long but innocent.

- Wow – said Kara incapable to contain her happiness.

- I… - Lena started – I love you, Kara.

- I love you too, Lena – said Kara with a smile on her lips – I love you so much, :zhao.

Lena kissed her again, this time a short kiss and lied against Kara’s body. Kara hugged her happily.

Lena was about to drift when Kara asked – This means that we are girlfriends? – said shyly.

Lena smiled and said – Is this you way of asking me to be yours?

Kara hided her face in Lena’s neck – Yes, I think it is.

- Asked again.

- Lena Kieran Luthor, would you like to be my girlfriend? – said Kara looking at Lena’s beautiful green eyes.

- Yes, Kara Zor-El, I would love to be your girlfriend.

They kissed once more before letting sleep take hold.

Waking up next to Lena as her girlfriend should have been one of the best moments of her life, but the morning and her enjoyment was cut short because of her emergency alarm.

- Is Rama Khan. – said Brainy the moment Kara answered.

- On my way – she said.

- You are not going without me – said Lena also getting up.

Kara smiled and took Lena on her arms flying to the DEO.

- Status Report – asked as soon as she arrived.

- Rama Khan is attacking the south part of the city, near the river – said.

Supergirl left immediately.

- Dreamer will arrived soon with J’onn – said Brainy.

- Brainy, I’m taking a team to evacuated to a safe zone – said Alex – Prepare the equipment to capture Rama Khan. Lena, come with me. Vasquez, take the control of the visual and keeps us inform.

Everyone followed Alex orders.

- Why are you taking me with you? – asked Lena.

- Do you have your suit? – asked Alex back.

- Yes – said Lena, since the attack on her.

- I was counting on it. Is safer for you to be around us, if something happens, we could help you within seconds. Rama Khan will try and come from you, we’ve seeing it more than once.

Lena got it, she activated her suit and followed Alex.

The fight between Nia, J’onn, Kara and Rama Khan had already destroyed several buildings; people were running, looking for a safe place. That’s the first thing Lena saw when they stopped.

Alex divided her team, sending them to collect and guide everyone to the east part of the city. Lena helped too.

- Brainy, where are you?

- On my way – said Brainy, being vague about his whereabouts.

A new wave of monsters started to form when Alex and Lena were.

- Vasquez, send a backup, we are outnumbered. – said Alex.

Kara was getting tired, Nia and J’onn were on the ends of their strength and Rama Khan knew it.

From the air she could see Alex and Lena fighting next to several DEO agents, they were trying to contain the monster away from the civilians still moving to the evacuation zone.

- J’onn go – said Kara and he moved to help Alex.

- Are you ready, Supergirl? – said Rama Khan.

- I won’t give up – she said in her Supergirl voice.

- Oh, no, no. Oh, Miss Zor-El. Is not about fighting me, is about your loved one or the city – he smiled and Kara’s blood run cold.

- Supergirl, we are detecting a bomb in the middle of the city – said Vasquez.

- We need more backup – Alex voice sounded scared.

In the background, Kara could here Lena’s heartbeat speeding up. She located her and saw a group of monsters covering all her scape routes. – Lena – she whispers.

 - What is going to be Supergirl? Me, the city or your lover? – Kara was in a chokehold and a sense of dread invaded her.

- Kara! Kara! – Brainy called for her. He appeared in his battle suit – GO! Nia and I have this.

- Kara, the city first – said Lena sensing Kara’s feelings.

- I’m here – said James appearing close to Lena’s location – I got her.

With that, Kara flew.

- Nia! – called Brainy – Use your energy to bound him, arms and legs.

- Brainy, I can’t – begged Nia.

- One time, please. It will be over soon.

- DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STOP ME? – yield Rama Khan getting closer to Nia.

- NIA, NOW!!

Nia used all the energy she had left, and created four energy rings connected to her arms. She tensed the lines keeping Rama Khan still.

Rama Khan started to fight Nia’s powers, it was a matter of time for him, just a little longer before the girl collapses.

 Brainy flew and put his body in front of Rama Khan, took out the gun and shot him – Your story ends here. – He said.

Nia collapse and Rama Khan body contort with pain.

- Leviathan will conquer – screamed Rama Khan.

- Not for a very long time – replayed coldly Brainy looking down on Rama Khan. – And we are strong enough to fight them.

- Your girl of steal won’t survive today – said with a final smile.

Brainy knew what it meant; the bomb had Kryptonite in it. – KARA!!!!!

Kara flew as fast a she could, she was inches away from the bomb when she felt it, kryptonite.

She activated the suit that Lena made for her years ago, it helped but it was not enough.

Kara kept moving, knowing the destruction the bomb could cost.

- Kara, come back. We can send a team, evacuated the city – begged Alex.

- There’s not time – said Kara seeing the clock that the bomb had marked a minute – Lena, I love you.

Kara touched her symbol and a wave of sun bathed her. She took the bomb a flew up, to the sun.

Lena couldn’t break, not right now, she needed to figure out a way to save her.

- Come on, Lena, think, think – her suit, her suit had propellants – Yes!

Lena flew into Kara’s path and pushed her away.

- Lena! NO!!!!

Lena programed her suit and it detach from her body but kept pushing up. With her watch Lena marked a path and enhanced the power of the propellants of her suit.

The surge of power propelled Lena downward.

Kara, still suffering the effects of the kryptonite and with the last of her energy, stopped Lena’s free fall and flew her to the DEO.

Knowing Lena was safe, Kara’s heart stopped..

- Help, HELP!! – Lena screamed. – I need a stretcher!!

A group of DEO agents followed her instructions.

- Take her to the sun beds and put it in full power – said while she run to her lab.

- Brainy, I need you here right now! – demanded Lena.

Still in the battle field, Brainy had Nia in his hands.

- I’ll take her – said J’onn – She’ll react soon.

Brainy accepted J’onn’s offer and flew to the DEO.

---

Alex couldn’t stay, she needed to be with her sister. She looked around, the destruction, the chaos.

Her heart broke at instead of finding a way to get to her sister, she stayed and organize her people.

Lena was moving around the lab, looking for all the things she needed.

- What do you need? – asked Brainy.

- I need you to complete my portable sun in less than two minutes – said with tears in her eyes. – and I need you to take it to Kara.

Lena ran from the lab to Kara’s side and Brainy started working.

When Lena arrived to Kara’s side everyone was moving without direction.

- Move – said Lena. – I need you to connect this to the raw electricity of the room – she pointed to the energy source.

- But the sun beds – the agent complain.

- It won’t save her, this could – said Lena with finality in her voice.

Lena prepared the portable red sun emitter she had created, and filled a syringe with a triple dose of adrenaline.

- In the count of three, I need you – said to the nearest agent – to power on this prototype. As soon as you do that, I’ll inject her with this – said Lena pointing to her hand – and you will shock her with the superpower defibrillator.

- Lena, I’m here – said Brainy caring a bigger container than she expected. – You have less than one minute.

Lena nodded. – One, two, three – everyone moved as she had instructed, she shocked cause Kara’s heart to beat. – Brainy now, everyone to the ground - Brainy put the grenade shape object on top of Kara’s chess and activated.

Lena used the shield on her glove to create a barrier between them and the solar energy.

A strong wave of light expanded around the DEO and a heartbeat grew stronger.

Kara was in Argo again, it looked like Argo at least.

- Kara, inah, come – said Alura.

- Yeyu, is that you? – Kara was confused, the last thing she remembers is flying and she couldn’t fly in Argo.

- Dinner is almost ready – said Alura.

- How do you find me? – asked Kara, trying to figure everything out.

- Your friend Mon-El told me, said something about a dream you have.

Yes, her dream. She was walking here in her dream, she was waiting for someone, maybe Mon-El… no, it didn’t feel right.

- So, are you coming?

Kara followed her mom.

They were having dinner, making small talk; it felt so normal, she felt normal.

- I’m happy you are here now. Having you with me, seeing you grow old. I’ve never thought I’ll have the opportunity to see you grow – Alura has tears in her eyes.

- I… what? – Kara was confused.

- Is just, with you here. Well, you here are like any one of us. And even after finding you and knowing you, if you stayed on earth… I would have died before I could see you grow old.

- Why? – said Kara with amusement.

Alura looked at her with pity – Inah, you’ll live millennials on earth – her mom said.

- No, Mon-El – she looked at her companion – In the future, I’m dead right? – she asked.

- I… - Mon-El was conflicted, he didn’t know if telling Kara the truth would alter the future. She looked into Kara’s eyes and knew he didn’t care. – You’re not dead, but you are not longer on Earth. And that’s everything I can tell you.

Kara remembered, after that she got into a fight with Mon-El, they made up and moved on. She didn’t care anymore.

Kara is immortal and the reality of this just hit her.

- No one was hurt – it was Alex voice. – You did the right thing – who did? – She’ll woke up, she just needs more time to recover.

Some minutes pass.

- You need to check everyone in six months – that was Lena, Kara knew. – We need to be sure the energy blast didn’t cause cancer; is the only disease we can’t rule out yet.

Kara’s heart beat faster and she felt two presences above her.

- Kara? – Lena asked – Kara, are you awake?

Kara moved, her body finally responding.

Suddenly the lights dimmed and she could open her eyes. – Hi. – the relief was visible in her sister and her  :zhao.

Chapter Text

After Kara woke up, she had to spend two more days under the solar beds; but during that time their friends tell her everything that happened after she went for the bomb.

Brainy com clean with the information he had from the future and he’s decision to kill Rama Khan, Kara wasn’t happy but the damage was already done.

This prompted Lena to tell everyone what happened with Lex, Kara already knew and the rest did the same assessment they did with Brainy; they didn’t like this approach and if they did something like it again, they’ll face the consequences. But, at the end of the day, Brainy and Lena’s good actions outweigh the bad ones.

Nia had wake up hours later after the end of the battle. There were non-fatal casualties and the city mayor was offering taxes cuts to companies in exchange for them to rebuild part of the city; similar to what they did after the Daxamite attack, but this time none of the companies could claim the construction as theirs.

Lena had officially signed a contract with the DEO to work as a consultant in R&D.

About what happened with her. Lena restarted her heart and used something similar to a sun grenade directly on her, recharging her enough to health and stabilize he.

Kara’s body didn’t absorbed everything, so the remaining energy created a wave of energy that expand around all the DEO. The agents outside the recovery round only got minor sunburns, and agents inside were protected by Lena’s shield and didn’t experience any type of damaged.

After a week Kara was allow to leave the DEO, Kara was ready to be free and she would have left the DEO after she woke up if it wasn’t because Lena asked her to stayed there and promised to visit every day. And she did.

And because they weren’t shy on showing their affection to each other, all of the superfriends knew about their relationship.

- Are you ready? – Lena asked.

- Yes! I’m ready to leave – said Kara already walking to the balcony.

- No, no. We are taking my car – said Lena.

- But, Lee. I’m fine, I can fly us home – pout Kara.

Lena gave Kara her signature badass look and Kara caved, walking towards the raven-haired woman like a sad puppy.

Being back home was like taking a deep breath of fresh air.

- I order us some food. – said Lena – All your favorites: pot stickers, pizza, Thai and big belly burgers. And for dessert sticky buns.

Kara took Lena into her arms and kiss her deeply – Thank you for saving me – Kara continued hugging her and Lena’s smile only grew brighter.

Kara looked happy eating everything Lena had choose and for her part, Lena ordered herself a salad and a burger.

After, they relaxed in the couch, watching the Wizard of Oz.

The movie was about to end when Lena noticed Kara was starting to fall sleep.

- Darling, let’s go to bed – Kara nodded and let herself be guided by Lena.

Seeing Kara suffer gave Lena a new idea for a project, one that she hoped was a good idea. The name of this project was “Plumeria”. Fitting she thought, for many the plumeria meant beauty; but for other ancient cultures it meant Immortality.

The next day Kara woke up feeling better, but she knew she needed to talk to Lena about what happened the night before.

Lena was in the kitchen already making breakfast.  Bacon and eggs, so classic and the only things Kara knew she had.

Lena tried to be there for Kara and also wanted to see if her hero had considered all the possibilities before she presented her idea.

- Maybe, down the line… you could love again, have a new family – asked Lena.

- Is a hopeful view of a bad scenario. – Kara took a moment to gather her thoughts - I’ll find the way and maybe I would love again and enjoy live again, have a family again. But the true is, I still prefer just one regular life time, no more loses.

Lena’s goal was clear now, but she couldn’t continue without Kara knowing. – I want to tried and find a way for you to have a normal life spam. Are you ok with me working in that? If you’re not, I’ll drop it – Lena took Kara’s hands – This is just for you and I’ll respect your decision.

The weeks passed and everything returned to a normal rhythm with the adding of Lena and Kara dating.

That’s was enough Lena thought, so she took Kara’s hand and follow her to the ship.

The reason for the trip was to see if Argo had information about the yellow sun effects on kryptonians and they normal life spam on human years. Lena needed information for her project.

But Kara had another reason, she wanted her family symbol for Lena. She was sure Lena was it for Kara and when the time comes, she wants Lena to be register as a member of the house of El and for that, she needed to follow the kryptonian traditions and created their version of an engagement ring. Which is their symbol.

The symbol needs to be made by her and her parents, using kryptonian steel. This symbol will be part of their wedding bracelets. Lena will use the El symbol and Kara the Luthor one.

They would need to create a symbol for the Luthor’s, Kara thought.

- Oh wow – was the first thing Lena said after landing in Argo City. She was dizzy from the landing and surprise of the nature around the city, it wasn’t what she expected.

A woman walked towards them and Lena remembered her, it was Alura. She found it funny that Kara looked more similar to Eliza than she did to Alura.

- Yeyu! – exclaimed Kara running to her mother’s arms.

Lena followed her a few steps behind, letting them have their moment.

- Yeyu, I would like you to meet, Lena Luthor, my beloved. – Lena blushed instantly.

- Hi, Mrs. Zor-El – said Lena.

- Hello, Lena. Is a pleasure to meet you formally, and you can call me Alura.

Once they were installed, Kara took Lena to explore the city.

For Lena, the similarities to Earth were more than she expected, the only big difference was their technology. Her other surprise with the city was the abundance of flora; she remembered Kara telling her about the lack of trees while she grew up, but for what she could gathered, this society second chance came with a new sense of balance between advance and conservation.

The food was also peculiar; everything looked so fresh and healthy, and Kata seemed to enjoy it which is something Kara wouldn’t do on earth. The taste was unique too, everything was tasty and familiar, but she couldn’t identify where the familiarity came from. Like she ate a fruit and it taste like something she had eat before but she couldn’t point to what.

After the first two days Lena had time to talk with Alura about what she needed and why. Alura looked confuse at first, but after Kara explained it to her why she wanted it, Alura helped.

She gave Lena an especial authorization to enter the history and science guild for her research. Lena spent most of her time there which gave Kara time to construct the symbol with her mother.

She took the rock and everything around her change and she stood in the beginning of the cave that now looked like she expected. She turned and left.

- You did it, Inah – said Alura once Kara was out of the cave. – Now, you need to sealed your intentions by writing in this – Kara saw an ancient looking book of parchment paper – This book has all the promises made by the House of El to their mates. In this blank page you need to write your promise to Lena and she will do the same when you bring her here. – Alura showed her a small rock container – Put your steel there and grind it against the vase – Kara did as her mother instructed her – Now, you need to mix it with a drop of your blood – Alura gave Kara a small knife and Kara cut herself in her no dominant hand and pour several drops in the vase – Now mix your blood with the steel and use that to write.

Kara wrote in English, because her she wanted Lena to understand what she has vowed.

- Now, we forged – said Alura and both of them, reciting an old prayer started to manipulate the steel that easily bend to their strength.

Kara was happy with their work; the steel changed its color to an aqua marine. Alura took out a small box with a soft interior and Kara put their symbol there.

Lena investigation gave a lot of options for her to explored. There were several elements she could try to lower Kara’s life spam. She also could use magic, kryptonians are vulnerable to it and with the right enchantment Kara could have a human life spam. She knew this was no an option, considering that magic was something of fantasy books and no extraterrestrial that she knew have this “ability”. And her real final option was move to Argo City; it wouldn’t be ideal because both felt at home on Earth, but for Kara she would do it, for Kara she would create a portal strong enough for her family to come to visit daily, for Kara she would commute to work from Argo to National City, for Kara she would invent cellphones capable of communicated between planets.

They stayed a little longer in Argo, Lena wanted to give Kara all the time she could to be with her mother; but Alura also wanted to spend time with her, so more times than she expected the three of them walked around the city, have dinners together, go shopping together, visit the neighbors together.

Spending all this time with Alura made Lena missed her own mother, not Lilian because even if she learned to love her like a mother, she missed her birth mother, missed the happiness and ease she felt like a child.

After moving with the Luthors, they made sure Lena forget everything about her previous home; but after being here some memories started to appear between dreams and a face identical to hers was calling her back home.

- Baby – Kara woke her up – Lee, are you ok? – Lena was dreaming again, dreaming about her mother. Tears appeared and she search refuge in Kara’s arms.

It took some minutes for Lena to tell Kara about her dreams and she was met with understanding ears – If you want, when we come back home, we could search for your childhood home. – Lena just hugged her tighter and nodded.

I was a peaceful afternoon when Kara asked Lena to accompany her for a date.

Lena and Kara change into a cleaner set of kryptonian clothes and left the house. Kara was caring something similar to a picnic basket.

Kara took Lena to a small hill that overlook the clean sky, there were several families doing the same. Kara lied a beautiful baby blue blanket and Lena helped her sprayed to food that Kara brought.

Minutes later they were laughing and eating, waiting for the night.

- Have you enjoyed your time here? – asked Lena to Kara.

- Yeah – said Kara – this time was different, last time I came here to stayed but after a few days I felt out of place. Now, I know is just a small vacation so I haven’t feel all the stress of fitting in and I got to enjoyed being with my family, exploring the city. Also, you are here. – Lena smiled and kissed her.

- What about you? – Kara asked.

- I love it, exploring your labs and libraries was amazing, all your history is so fascinating and I got to learned a lot of new things, and I got some ideas for tech we could built on earth.

Kara smiled – I’m glad.

- I do have a question – said Lena looking coy – Did your mom like me?

Kara smile grew knowing what her yeyu held her do – Yes, she loves you. – And Kara wanted to push the subject a little bit more – She wants to know when we plan to have children.

- Oh – Lena said playing with Kara’s fingers – Do you want to have children? – asked Lena.

Guess this was the time to all their cards on the table – I want to with you – said Kara – I also want to marry you here and on Earth.

- We went from best friends, to ex friends, to lovers in lest of a year – said Lena – Are you sure?

Kara’s nerves flared up – I am, but is ok if you’re not. I won’t pressure you, I can wait. I can wait for you as long as you need it. – she finished.

Lena smiled and kissed Kara deeply – Yes, I want all of that with you. I always have and I’ll always will. I’m a little bit scared, I won’t like to you; but I’m ready. - Kara kissed her back.

Minutes later and with more people around them, Lena cuddle with Kara while they waited.

The wait ended soon enough. It started with waves, from green to purple, showing beautiful red and orange; them the waves became synchronize movements around the sky, like a dance when two or more colors shine; soon after a beautiful blue invade all the sky and after that the colors disappear living behind a peaceful night with soft tones of red.

Lena had seen the Northern Lights, but this was beyond that experience.

Kara was running late, even with her superspeed it was difficult to leave bed when Lena was there naked.

- Sorry, sorry – said Kara entering the coffee shop.

- I’m not surprise – said Alex, drinking her coffee. – I order for the two of us – said pointing at the mug in Kara’s side.

- Thank you!! – said Kara taking a sip of her super sweet coffee, it was the best.

- So, tell me, how was the trip? – asked Alex. – Two weeks is a long time.

- It was amazing, I spend a lot of time with my mom and I showed Lena every place I love in the city, we even saw a show of lights. It was magical.

- I’m happy for you sis, looks like things are going great with Lena.

- Yeah, it is. I’m going to marry her – said casually Kara and Alex almost choked with her drink.

- What? Did you propose there? – Alex loud voice cause a lot of head turns – Sorry, sorry – said Alex blushing.

- Oh my god, Alex. No, I haven’t proposed yet. But we talk about our future and this is it, she is the one for me and I’m for her. – Alex could see the sparkle in Kara's eyes and smiled.

- I’m so happy for you, sis. And for Lena. – said Alex giving her sister an awkward sitting hug. – So, do you have a plan?

- I was planning on doing it soon, but Lena is going to travel soon; so maybe after that.

- Where is Lena going? And also, do you want me to go with you ring shopping?

- Lena wanted to looked for her birth mom history and I helped her. We found out she was from a small town in Ireland and she booked a plane ticket for the day after tomorrow.

Lena plane landed safely in NewFoundLand.

- Hi, I’m Lena Luthor. I have a reservation for one – said arriving to the small-town bed and breakfast.

She walked around the town receiving similar reactions and it was starting to made her uncomfortable.

- Hi, baby – said Kara yawning – Sorry, had a long day.

- Is ok, darling – Lena sipped her coffee – I’m just starting mine and wanted to hear your voice.

Kara smiled – I miss you, but one more day and I’ll be there with you.

Lena found that promise comforting.

Lena walked following the direction Peggy, the bartender on the bar, gave her. Soon enough she was outside town, she continued walking until she saw a small cottage hidden behind trees and if she wasn’t looking for it, she would have miss it.

She knocked on the door and heard nothing. – Hello, Florence. I’m Lena, Elizabeth’s daughter – she knocked again.

The door opened moments later and an older woman came out – You look just like her – she said – and you should have been here years ago – she let the door open and walked by inside, Lena followed her.

The house felt familiar, it had too, she used to live there.

- I didn’t change the place that much, when I’m gone this will be yours again and I wanted it to still feel like home. – said the woman.

 Lena didn’t know what to said.

- I know is a lot to process, but you being here is a start.

- I just wanted to know more about my mother.

- And you will – said the woman sitting on the small dining table. – Sit, please.

Lena did that and Florence pour her a tea and Lena took a sip being polite, but that a moment the flavor of it touched her tongue I wave of nostalgia invaded her.

 - Your mother used to make it for you. Sometimes you needed it. – said the woman looking intently at her.

Lena ignored it and just continued to drink her tea. Florence wanted to laugh; Elizabeth used to do the same when she didn’t want to talk.

- I got these for you – said Florence giving Lena several books – Eli had this in the house.

Lena opened the first one and found baby photos of her with her mom, her eyes filled with tears. She opened the second one and it was pictures of her mom, younger; she was beautiful.

All of the books had pictures of her mom and her time in NewFoundLand. Lena had mementos, she finally had something to look back to remember the happiest years of her childhood.

- Thank you, – said Lena – this is everything I wanted.

- There’s something more. – said taking out one last book – This is actually your heritage, your mother’s power.

- I… I don’t have it. – said Lena – Peggie told me about how it was for our mothers, but I haven’t had that, nothing. I’m a science woman and even if now I really would that to have some magic – said thinking about Kara – is not going to happened.

- You need it now? – said Florence and Lena nodded. – Maybe that’s why you are here now, maybe that’s why it took you so long. You haven’t need magic until now and you don’t remember how your mother used to teach you.

Lena didn’t believe her.

- Oh, yes, Kieran. You used to know about magic, used to play with it; you loved to make leaves float. And when you used your powers too much, your mother would made you this tea to comfort you and restore your energy.

Lena still looked unsure.

- I won’t convince you now, you are not open to it, so take this with you and if you want some guidance come back to me.

With that Florence felt leaving Lena to her thoughts.

Kara found Lena sitting on her bed, reading some old looking books. She was surprise, it was late.

- Baby – said Kara landing.

Lena looked up and saw Kara deactivating her suit. She had missed her too much.

Seconds later, they were hugging and kissing, telling each other how much they miss the other. It didn’t take long before they were back in bed taking each other clothes. Books forgotten.

The next morning, Lena told Kara everything that happened and showed her the books. Kara was beyond excited to see baby Lena pictures and to see her smile. She was so cute and the only thing she could think about was how cute would be their children.

- I think you should try it – said Kara at the end. – If this is something you want to explore, something you want to discover about yourself. I’ll support you fully.

Lena smiled to Kara and hugged her – I’ll think about it – she said. – But first, I owned a bartender a secret.

While walking there Kara asked – Do you know what secret are you going to share with her?

- No idea, I’ll see what she asked.

Kara let it go and just followed Lena.

During the date, the bar was a dinner. The bar was still there but serving milkshakes and sodas. Peggie was there.

- Hello – said Lena and Kara.

Peggie smiled knowingly – Something to eat or drink, ladies – she asked.

They both order breakfast and milkshakes. Once they finish, Lena walked towards Peggie.

- I owned you a secret – Lena said.

Peggie looked between her and Kara and laughed a little – Don’t worry about it.  – And with that left them.

Kara and Lena took the day to explore the town. This time it was easy for Lena, she didn’t care if people kept looking at her; she had Kara with her and made all the difference.

By the end of the day, Lena had decided to try and learn magic.

The next day, she and Kara went to Florence’s cottage and they spend the day trying to make Lena's magic surge.

Back to National City, the superfriends decided to relax.

It was saturday afternoon and the group of friends decided to try carving a pumpkin.

- So, how are things going with Alex? – asked Nia to Kelly.

- We just want to check in, considering both of you are working extremely hard – said Lena.

- And is partially your fault – said Kelly laughing, she was working with Lena and Andrea in the pilot project of their VR tech which was heavily orientated to mental health treatments. Kelly pushed for a review in their algorithm, they needed to insured that their tech wasn´t addictive. – We are doing great – continued Kelly – We actually are moving together when my lease is up.

- Oh my god, that´s amazing – said Lena genuine happy for them.

- Yeah, girl. I´m hearing wedding bells in the near future – complement Nia.

Kelly smiled to both of them, she knew Alex was the one and it was only a matter of time for them to figure their future out. – I hope so.

- And how are things going with Brainy? – asked Lena.

- We are doing better now; my nightmares are gone since we defeated Rama Khan and Brainy decided to reduce the number of times he consults with his ship. We´ve been taking time to see how we want our lives to be going on. What we need to know and what we don’t.

Lena knew that Brainy had kept things from Nia when they were working together; she hoped Brainy told her the true after like she did with Kara. Kara was upset for a while and made Lena promise never to do that again, and she promise that will always talk her ideas with Lena.

Both knew that they´ll never see eye to eye with every situation, but at least they would make time to discuss and look for the best option.

- Is good that you talked and stablish your limits when it comes to sharing a live together – said Kelly – You have a peculiar situation.

- Yes, we know. With him being from the future and me seeing the future, if we don´t talk we´re gonna end up destroying us.

- Is your turn Lena. How are things with Kara? – said Kelly.

- With Kara everything is amazing. I think we´re still in our honeymoon phase, but I´m happy with enjoying our time together. I know she is the one for me, so I don´t worry about the future anymore.

Both friends smiled to Lena – and how was your trip to your mother´s town?

Lena paused for a second before telling her friends everything. Kelly looked shock, but Nia didn´t which meant that she saw something about it.

- I´m guessing you knew – asked Lena to Nia.

- Something like that, but we didn´t know how it would happen and we didn´t want to interfere. – Lena knew she was talking about herself and Brainy.

- Do you have everything ready – asked Alex.

- Yes. Now we only have to wait – said Kara smiling.

- That´s awesome – said Alex.

Kara smiled – As awesome as moving in with Kelly? – she asked.

- No, mine is better – said Alex laughing.

- Hey, no no no. Propose wins over moving in – said Kara.

Alex just laughed and the two sisters kept bickering with each other.

- What are you carving, Brainy? – asked J´onn.

- Us – said Brainy – an exact replica of the picture we took during last Game Night.

- No, we will do a big reveal in a few minutes and I don´t want to spoiled the fun. – Briany looked decided and M´gan laughing move back to her pumpkin.

All the friends turned around and show their art pieces.

Nia and Lena went for regular jack-o-lantern with several details, Kara and Alex went for funny looking faces, J´onn and M´gan show Martian´s historical constructions and Brainy show his work shocking more than one because it was difficult to understand what they were looking at.

- Come on, Lena. You can do it! – Kara was the best cheerleader anyone could have. – If you managed to transform this cup into water, I’ll use my tongue as a vibrator.

- Oh, for fuck’s sake. No sexual reference while you trained in the DEO. – screamed Alex – Don’t make me call Pam from HR.

Lena was laughing and Kara blushing. The rest of superfriends were smart enough to not be close to the training run while Lena practice.

Lena had read all of her mother’s book classifying her spell from easy to extremely hard, so she could practice being safe.

She had already pass to medium difficulty and now she was stuck in transformation spells.

It took three intents more but Lena managed to transform the cup into water and from that she played with it.

- Yes, yes! You did it – said Kara hugging Lena and making her spin.

Lena was extremely happy and being in Kara’s arms intensify her feelings, which cause a wave of her magic to travel inside the DEO.

- Oh, wow. What was that? – asked Kara.

- My magic I think, but I don’t know how it happen – said Lena shyly.

- That’s ok, let’s see how is everyone.

When they entered the main control of the DEO everything was chaos, but not the caos she expected.

Next, they find Brainy and Nia confessing each other things that none of them expecting them to express so openly.

- Oh, Brainy. You have no idea how turn on I am when you talk to me like that. Said twelfth level intellect again.

- Twelfth level intellect – said Brainy with a voice that sounded like seductive.

Lena wanted to laugh now – I’ve never seen this type of flirting. Would you like me to try something like that later? – asked Lena to Kara, Kara looked interested for a few seconds before she looked around the DEO.

- Oh, Lena. What happen?

In several corners DEO agents were expressing their feelings in way to physical ways. Other were calling on the phone and some of them were touching their weapons in a disturbing matter.

Around all of them Pam was giving memos for inappropriate behavior in the word place and demanding all to do a mandatory six hours sexual harassment seminar.

- I know this is your fault – said Pam pointing to Kara – fix it or, you and Miss Luthor will have a extended version of all my seminars about coworkers relationships.

- Oh my god, Kara. We need to fix this.

- Go, check your mother’s book while I put everyone in detention cells.

They both move as fast as they could.

Kara was running out of detention cells, so she improvised division in the conference rooms.

Lena managed to find the spell to reverse this wave of euphoria; but it was one level beyond her abilities so she called Florence and after Florence stopped laughing at her told her she was the only one capable of stopping it.

- They’re your emotions. Only you can cast the spell.

- But I haven’t gotten to this level yet.

- Follow your instincts Lena, concentrate and let the magic flow from your body to the outside. Let’s practice together.

Lena followed Florence meditations and felt the flow of her magic.

- Lena, hurry up, please. Pam is about to put me in administrative leave.

Lena repeated the spell in her mind and when she felt ready, she said it out loud. - Imperium et pax, industria movet et dividit, dividit et reget. Omnes ad normalem revertuntur.

A new wave of energy surge. Once the wave disappeared, they went to check on their friends. They looked exhausted but back to normal.

 - What a relief. – said Kara hugging Lena – You were amazing.

- No hugging for longer than three seconds in the work place – said Pam looking less furious.

- I’m back in her bad side – said Kara pouting.

Lena just smiled and gave her a quick kiss.

Lena’s curiosity woke up; she took her mother’s book and look for the page 98. – Oh my god – she said with tears streaming down her eyes before a smile form. – Finally.

Kara was ready. She had all plan out.  It was going to be a Halloween to remember.

- Hello, darling – said Lena arriving at The Tower’s party dress in her Satine Kryze costume.

- Hi, there – said Kara seductively in her Obi One Kenobi costume. – Looking for troubles tonight?

Lena mischievous smile grew bigger – With you, always. – causing Kara to kissed Lena.

- Hey, hey – said Alex angrily – There’s a lot of people around you, behind. Not make me call Pam.

- We are not at the DEO – said Kara with a frown in her face.

- You still surrender by people.

While the two sisters continued bickering, Lena move to say hello to the rest of superfriends.

J’onn had transform the second floor of his home into a heroes' den, he was tired of his early retirement plan and decided to build a place for them to work in a safer and less control space. It was’t anything illegal, it was mostly to have some independence from the DEO and the government oversight; especially after what happened with Lex and President Backer.

He had been working on it since he came back from Mars and it was finally ready; what he never expected was for the first official reunion to be a Halloween Party and even less a proposal.

The party was in full swing when Kara took Lena to the third floor.

- I need to show you something – said Kara excited.

- Darling, if you want some alone time, you could flight us to my penthouse – playing with Kara’s belt – Alex will get a heart attack if she finds us.

Kara rolled her eyes and hugged her from behind, pushing her to walk. As soon as they enter the room a control panel appear.

- This is the simulation room. It will help us train for possible fights. – Kara started to enter different codes to the panel – But, it can also do other things.

Soon the room transform. It was a beautiful sunset in Ireland, but in the sky the Aura of Argo City appeared.

- Oh, this is so beautiful Kara – said Lena, resting her head in Kara’s shoulder.

- Is a mix of both of our first homes – said Kara – and I thought it was the perfect setting for this.

Kara turned taking Lena’s hands on hers and bent a knee, as soon as her right knee touched the ground a small tree grew and of its top was a small box.

- Lena Kieran Luthor. Since the moment I met you, I knew you would be one of the most important people in my life; what I didn’t expect was for you to be the most transcendental one. Without you there’s no me, without you I’ll never could become this Kara. You have changed my life for the better. You challenge me everyday and I want to do this for the rest of our lives. Kara stood up and kissed Lena making them float. They stayed there in each other’s arms, enjoying this moment.

Finally, the newly engaged couple went back to the party but instead of finding the Halloween decoration, they found a proper Engagement Party with Eliza, Alura and Florence there.

Lori, like her mother, felt in love with a human so she gave her immortality up. The twins, Liam and Lara, they choose alien partners and choose to lived us long as their partners did. The three of them followed their mother’s example.
