I'll spend my life being your partner

Summary:

It wasn't only Pentious' small egg that eavesdropped on the two overlords. Vox started to have complicated feelings because of what he had heared.

Notes:

Day 4: "It's us or them."

Work Text:

Developing such small cameras even powerful overlords couldn’t spot them wasn’t something hard for Vox. Processing what he’d seen through them and the feelings it caused more so. Velvette called them up as soon as she left the meeting and informed them that it was almost 100% that Carmilla was the one who killed the angel that they had found, but all the other overlords were against a head on attack against the angels. Hah, sacredly cats, all of them!

Vox was glad that their guess turned out to be true, but as soon as he heard the woman’s reason for killing the angel, his insides twisted into guts. As he was listening to the – fucking cheesy – song, the image of Velvette popped up in his head again and again. He shook his head, turning away from the picture of the now empty room – just to spot his smaller business partner stepping through their front door on one of the side camera screens. Vox got up from his chair without even realizing and was through a camera as electricity in a heartbeat.

”Vox, what the fuck?!” Velvette yelped as her coworker appeared in front of her out of nowhere. The man opened his mouth then closed it. He seemed a bit out of it. Velvette tried to fight her worry back and went around the other to reach the elevators, but her wrist was grabbed from behind. The squeeze was so strong it almost hurt.

”Wait!” Vox’s voice was so glitchy and choked up it made Velvette worried.

”What happened, V? Are you okay?” She asked with narrowed eyes, touching his screen gently. Before Vox could answer, tho the elevator opened with a ping and they could hear the sound of high heels on the tiles.

”Did I miss something?” Val asked right behind them and Vox let Velvette’s arm go.

”No, nothing,” he said, not sounding as confident as he wanted to. Velvette sent him one last worried look before riding the elevator up to her floor. Val opened his mouth to ask, but Vox’s ’Not now.’ look shut him up.

Vox was standing beside Velvette’s bed, watching her in her sleep. She was wearing one of his t-shirts and one of Val’s panties. Both of them were too big for her, but she said that they were comfortable, so they gave them to her. Vox felt four pairs of arms hugging him from behind and a chin being rested on the top of his screen.

”So, here is where you went,” Val whispered, so not to wake Velvette up.

”She is so small,” Vox also whispered, looking the girl in front of them up and down.

”But have more sass than both of us combined,” Val chuckled, pushing a lock of hair behind Velvette’s ear. ”I read on sinstagram how she pissed Carmilla off today. It was hilarious!” The memory of the meeting – which he was watching, of course – made Vox smile too. He reached his hand out and caressed Velvette’s cheek.

”I will protect you,” he declared, then titled his head up. ”Both of you.”
