Not My Name (TSAMS AU)

Summary:

The AU is where all of the Celestial family members aren't truly themselves/who they say they are (some because they're keeping it a secret and have malicious intent for the family) like Sun is in Moon's old body, New Moon's in Sun's old body, Earth has half of Lunar's code, etc etc. But in this AU; instead of Lunar who is actually Eclipse- doesn't have positive star power and instead had negative and was under Cetus’ influence/mentorship and was being blindly used to start the world infection. Meaning Lunar had died and while trying to be rebuilt in space; his code was accidentally replaced with Eclipse's (a backup he placed in him maybe)

All of the characters who are in someone elses body still have most of the same personality traits as they would normally but have progressed differently than in the main AU (so Sun who is in Old Moon's body, is still anxious, light hearted, friendly— but became less jumpy, more mature, and bold.) And the Moon in Sun's old body is NOT Old Moon but instead a slightly spiteful, judgemental, and jaded; New Moon.

This fanfic is still in the works so some of the tags MIGHT happen 'cause I'm still working out the kinks and am in the midst of planning.)

Notes:

This is a flashback sequence in the past, in which Sun first spoke to Eclipse in the mindscape. Yes, after an argument with Old Moon.

Chapter 1: Throwback To That Time Eclipse & Sun Were Practically Brothers Pt. 1

Chapter Text

Sun would have just stepped past the entrance and swallowed his worry, but alas; the worry swallowed him whole. He stood outside with a comfortable silence to assist him, with Moon not there being able to push Sun forward, he stayed in place and deep in thought. If only Eclipse would speak now so he could talk to him in the comforts in the middle of nowhere. Sun hadn't heard from Eclipse in a fair amount of time, only had he ever heard from Moon about his threats when he was pushed out of control from the body. It was a terrifying experience— although he had some first-hand experience since Moon and him had once been in one body together— having to function as a whole was easier said than done when one had a feral killcode— the suffering dread of never gaining his consciousness back was unbearable, it felt as though he was falling from a high building with a long distance end, the impatient fear he would crash into the ground and never awake, knowing it could happen any given second.

Finally finding a sense of discomfort from the pouring rain, he set his thoughts aside and pushed through the door.

“Golden Freddy, it's me; Sun!” He stepped deeper into the dark estate filled with piano music seemingly meant to play ‘till ruins, then he jumped back nearly toppling over a coat hanger when hearing a faint greeting and Golden Freddy himself appearing beside him, he laughed over Sun's distraught as the sunny bot steadied what he almost knocked over. “Ah- never fails to make you holler!” Golden let out a hearty laugh, amused at his entrance which could scare no one other than Sun the same way. The celestial animatronic scowled half-heartedly but preferred the change of atmosphere, Golden Freddy recovering from his comedical antic straightened up and looked questionably at Sun “Say, where's your brother at, I thought you two never split up or something? No pun intended.” Sun was close to shrinking down onto the floor, given the situation of him and Moon's argument, he wanted nothing more for them to be as Golden Freddy thought; inseparable. But of course; things happen, maybe there was a reason— but he really didn't care, even if he was nothing without Moon— he wanted to feel whole, and whole was having him there with him. But not now, he thought, he had to try to just be a Sun with no Moon.“We do now, but that's not why I'm here— I came craving a favor from you, if you allow it that is.” Golden stood in his thoughtfulness but quickly dismissed it and and pried his attention back to Sun to give a response “Well, let's speak about this favor, and then I'll see if I'm feeling generous.” Sun was quick to fire back a response much to his suprise, “I need to speak with him. I was hoping you could help me get him to talk and— I will try to talk to him, and I mean really talk. I know maybe I'm not as good at dealing or discussing things regarding negotiations— or anything like that in any matter, but.. I could at least try, I haven't been able to communicate with the guy for the whole time he's been living in my head, and all I've heard or got from him are achings in my head and the barely audible mumbling from time to time, all Moon has told me of him were the vague his threats he told Moon when he took over. So I would really appreciate it if you could- somehow- get him to talk” Golden looked as though he had been prepared for this exact answer, he nodded his head towards the hallway and took to stalking into the house with Sun following behind him as he explained what would be done.

“So, you finally got fed up with curiosity, I fully expected this, Sun. Of course anyone with another individual living in their head as you do would be dying of wonder. You start questioning; what are they thinking? What do they want? What are they doing? All that. Lucky you— I have a way to get the two of you to meet, so you won't have to die of curiosity,” The two of them finally made it to the back door and were now out in the “backyard” as one would call it but Golden’s “backyard” seemed to fit being a morgue better. Everyday there; dark and discomforting no matter the time, with overgrown trees looming and bending above the ground, the specks of dust which you'd never believe were truly swarms of ghosts, and the familiar rain drearing back. “Here, this is where my Power Nexus is, you know, where I store any excess magic. And this is how you are going to transport yourself into your mindscape.” Sun stammered with his words for a minute, in the midst of attempting to comprehend what Golden was implying “I-what-WHAT? So— what you are telling me is that I'm supposed to use magic in order to speak face to face with Eclipse? Freddy, do you have any idea who you're talking to? I'm Sun, Moon's brother, not Moon. I don't do magic!” but Golden persisted, “Don't worry so much, Sun, as long as you get it right; there's no issue. So are you doing this or what?” Sun examined the Nexus, it was overwhelming to even look at but he balled up his hands and forced out a breath, It was about time for him to gain some sort of independence, Moon wouldn't always be able fix every problems no matter how hard he tried, at some point Sun would need to step up and put in his fair share,

“I guess I'm doing this..?”

Sun stepped into the Nexus, the overbearing anxiety almost getting the best of him, to back out, change his mind, but it had to be done.“So what is it I have to do again?” He yelled over to Golden Freddy who stood on the outside of the magical force, prepared to guide Sun through the process, Golden explained to Sun “What you'll have to do is repeat the spell and make sure you cast it as said, or else— you know what I'll leave the details out— just relax and repeat what I say!” Golden Freddy read out the words which sounded like complete gibberish. Carefully, sounding it out.

Sun sat in the center of the Nexus and let his hands feel through the blades of uncut grass as he spoke out the words with the most certainty as he possibly could have. There was an abrupt sensation of buzzing and soaring throughout his body, a headache came collapsing and in a rapid, swift moment he caught himself from falling onto— what seemed like; clouds? The mindscape, he thought. It was dark and both above and below were clouds mixed of blue and magenta. After he steadied himself he lifted his head and saw him, Eclipse stood without a sound nor movement, simply looking straight at Sun which made him stumble backwards in fear, he'd never seen him, and come to find out he was an exact replica of himself, except with an unnatural, orange-ish glow to him, they both stood staring for what seemed like ages, their first time ever discovering each other.

“So you're the 'Sun’, huh?” Eclipse spoke with an unexpectedly deeper voice than Sun would've guessed, he played around with Sun's name, getting used to it, repeating it over and over until he peered back at Sun, who was in search for a response, he replied picking at his words,

“Yes, —um, I'm Sun. I've heard of you too, correct me if I'm wrong; Eclipse? Is it? Uh, sorry I've only heard about you from Moon so I don't know if that's right...” Sun felt almost queasy, perhaps a side effect from his first attempt at casting magic, or it could be the fear of doing something wrong, this being his first impression on a sentient being made directly from the killcode and all. Eclipse stalked closer and moved with no effort, only stopping after reaching an appropriate distance a few feet apart from Sun who stood awaiting, “Right.. Although save the apologies, you didn't mess anything up, yet at least..” Eclipse spoke in a low bounding voice, despite the raspiness to it “Regardless, it's surprising I finally get to meet you.. Sun. Unbelievable that you were even allowed to step foot here, given Moon's warnings about me, why the change of heart?”

Sun fidgeted with his fingers, intertwining, twisting, pulling them, he felt nervous yet at ease with Eclipse, it partly reminded him of Moon— not the homicide code Moon, but his brother, or at least what he tried to be for Sun, up until he had about enough and took his anger out on him. Sun hesitated, “I don't really know how this mind-stuff works exactly, so if you didn't or can't hear outside of the mindscape— well me and Moon kind of had a bit of an argument, and he— may have said a few hurtful things— I know you probably don't care about that— sorry” he faltered with his words which only aggravated his feeling of apprehension, and he continued with his restless fingers, scratching at his palms. Eclipse stayed silent waiting for a sign of an answer, he strolled forward and only once stopped as he stood in front of an unsound Sun, and tilted his head towards his as so they'd see face to face, “Now what gave you that impression? And goodness, you say sorry too much.” Eclipse sighed letting through a thin lipped smile. Sun looked up at him, questioning if this was a form of sarcasm coming from Eclipse. From what he'd heard; he'd gathered up a conclusion that he meant to harm, but from what he'd seen; he couldn't determine a thing from him, all he knew—or was told— was that Eclipse wasn't to be trusted. “I don't know!” Sun started “Moon's always told me about everything you said to him when you took over, I assumed- and I'd say it's a justified assumption— that you wanted us dead! With all you've threatened him with—” Eclipse raised a finger patiently to put in his own dispute, “Sunrise, you have every right to believe Moon, I did indeed vaguely threaten him, but there's always another side to a story. You see; despite being stuck in this… kingdom in the middle of nowhere… I am well aware of the killcode that has been drastically affecting Moon, and I know when it begins to act up, it is fairly noticeable and it happens to always get the best of him when he's with you, so I do my best to fend it off, thus; initiating some verbal warnings, giving off a bad impression, I truly am not the fondest of Moon either though, with his means to bring out the irrelevance of others. And I myself have no reason to let down my guard around him, you see; it gives me the upper hand. But you, Sun, you seem different, unnoticed, always pushed into Moon's shadow. Should be the opposite though, huh?”

Sun grew perplexed by the second with everything Eclipse came to know about his brother, it was bothersome but somehow unbiasedly true. Eclipse may have been in some right in his account. Sun attempted to counter this claim,

“I'm not unnoticed, sure Moon's always been the ‘smart one’ but I—” He froze, there wasn't anything to argue about, what Eclipse said was definitely right;  Sun was always cast into the shade, whereas Moon had his intellect to prove him of worth, even if it was all some people saw him good for, at least he had some sort of value to show for. Sun exhaled, accepting defeat,

“You're right, I really am just; dismissible, compared to Moon.” surprising Sun; Eclipse shook his head and explained to him “Once again, you've twisted up my words. Sun, There's a significant difference between being dismissible and cast into the shadows. You were given the position of being the sun. The planets revolve around the sun, without it; the planets and any known life would be, well, lifeless. Without you, a moon wouldn't be much of anything, without a lively planet to orbit, and without you to be a light for it to reflect. And that light he reflected was met with praise, as you stood behind him.” Sun's mouth was gaping open at this point as he listened to Eclipse's—surprisingly accurate— analysis on him and his brother before he blurted out in question “Since when did you become a philosopher?!”

“Since forever, Sun. It's been forever. To me at the very least.” Eclipse smiled with a trace of suppressed melancholy. Sun raised an eyebrow and opened his mouth to say something of it before being stopped shortly by Eclipse who squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head. The animatronic smiled widely and pinched the bridge of his nose. “What I mean is, don't cut yourself short. And forget Moon— he's pulling you down and keeping you from your rightful place— you should be out there— not him.” After a long pause, where the two were sorting through their thoughts and burdens, Sun timidly asked, “Then what do you advise me to do..?”

“I'm sure this has crossed your mind at least once— maybe as an intrusive thought.

But today, it is your greatest option, Sun. And possibly your last.”
