Chapter 1: First day

Chapter Text

Fluttershy bolted up in bed, her heart pounding. The clock on her nightstand read 7:25, which wouldn’t have been alarming — except her alarm was set for 6:45.

“Oh no, oh no, oh no!” she whispered to herself, frantically tugging her covers away.

“Fluttershy! You’re going to be late!” her mom’s voice called from downstairs, and she could almost hear the irritation in every syllable.

“I’m coming!” she shouted back, her usually soft voice breaking into a squeak. She rushed to the bathroom, splashing water on her face and quickly pulling a brush through her pink hair, all the while her younger brother’s voice rang through the house.

“Mom, where’s my breakfast? And why is Fluttershy yelling?” Zephyr’s voice was loud and unbothered, as if the chaos around him was nothing new.

Fluttershy barely had time to throw on her favorite yellow cardigan and skirt before she grabbed her backpack, stumbled down the stairs, and all but skidded into the kitchen.

Her mom handed her a piece of toast with a pointed look. “I hope this isn’t a sign of how the school year’s going to go, Fluttershy.”

“I’m sorry, Mom,” she mumbled, trying to bite into the toast while stuffing her notebooks into her green bag.

With a hasty goodbye, Fluttershy was out the door, running toward Canterlot High and silently hoping this wouldn’t be how she started every morning of 11th grade.

The moment she stepped onto campus, Fluttershy let out a breath of relief. The familiar red brick building and green lawns calmed her racing heart. As she scanned the crowd of students milling about, she spotted her friends gathered near the steps of the school, chatting animatedly.

“Fluttershy!” Pinkie Pie’s voice rang out, and the whole group turned to wave her over.

“Hi, everyone,” she greeted them, smiling as she approached. “How was your summer?”

After the usual laughter and summer stories, Pinkie bounced on her feet and pulled out her schedule. “Oooo ooo!!! Lets compare our schedules!! I wanna see how many classes we have together!”

They all crowded around, and one by one, the group discovered that their schedules were disappointing: only a few shared classes here and there, and none of them had homeroom together. A small frown tugged at Fluttershy’s lips as she glanced at her schedule.

“I think you’ll be fine darling” Rarity said with a grin. “But oh dear — you have a bunch of classes with Discord…..” she said with a grimace.

Fluttershy blinked. “Discord? Isn’t he the one who… um…”

“Yeah, the one who got held back,” Applejack confirmed, raising an eyebrow. “He’s a senior, but he has to retake some classes.”

“Oh,” Fluttershy said softly, feeling a pang of sympathy for the mysterious troublemaker everyone talked about. She had seen him around school last year, usually in the middle of some prank or doing something he probably shouldn’t have been doing.

“Don’t feel too bad for him, Fluttershy,” Twilight said, “He brought it on himself. And trust me, he’s not exactly the friendliest student here.”

“Yeah, that guy’s as chaotic as they come,” Rainbow Dash added with a grin. “But he does keep things hella interesting!”

Fluttershy’s brows furrowed, feeling a mix of curiosity and concern. She glanced down at her schedule again, wondering what it might be like to have so many classes with him. But before she could dwell on it further, the bell rang.

“Time to start the day!” Pinkie announced, waving goodbye as they all scattered to their separate homerooms.

Fluttershy was weaving her way through the crowded hallway, her eyes focused ahead as she tried to make it to her homeroom on time. Suddenly, she caught sight of a familiar figure leaning against a locker, spray-painting over a school poster. Her eyes widened as she recognized the face.

It was Discord.

His clothing was, peculiar, he wore a brown coat, a plaid jacket in the waist, baggy pants with many patchings, green converse on one foot, a boot in the other, yellow arm warmers, and a backpack full of pins and keychains. He also had a few piercings, rings, and a black and grey messy haircut. He was also very tall. Fluttershy assumed he was the tallest guy in school.

 The poster, which had once displayed a motivational message from the principal, now had a big, grinning face scrawled across it, courtesy of Discord’s sharpie marker.

Fluttershy watched, bewildered, as he added finishing touches to his “improvement.” She wondered what could make someone go out of their way to mess up something like that. But as she stared at him, Discord looked back and saw her. Fluttershy quickly looked away and quickly walked to her homeroom class, embarrassed.

Fluttershy slipped into her homeroom just as the final bell rang, taking a seat in the back row. As the teacher went over rules and expectations.

“Your report cards will not only depend on your grades but also your beha—”

Discord barged in, looking entirely unbothered by the fact that he was late. He gave the teacher a small, exaggerated salute, his smile twisting into something almost challenging.

“Discord…..” Mrs. Harshwhinny said, voice sharp. “Care to explain your tardiness? On the first day?” her teeth gritted.

He shrugged, his eyes full of mischief. “I was walking my fish!”

Some students snickered, but the teacher’s scowl deepened. “Take a seat, and I expect to see more punctuality from you in the future.”

Discord rolled his eyes and sat a few seats away from Fluttershy. He stretched his legs out in front of him, lounging as if the class was his living room, all the while looking completely unbothered by the attention. Fluttershy tried to stifle her surprise — he wasn’t exactly how she’d imagined. She could feel his carefree, rebellious aura from where she sat, a few desks away.

By lunchtime, Fluttershy was eager to catch up with her friends, and they gathered around their usual spot in the cafeteria. As she set down her tray, her eyes wandered across the room — and there, by the edge of the cafeteria, was Discord, holding a tray with a bizarre mix of food items stacked in all sorts of strange ways. He took a few bites before heading out the cafeteria doors.

As her friends were chatting about the after school activities, Fluttershy asked out of the blue. “Does anyone know where Discord goes during lunch?”

Rarity waved her hand dismissively. “Probably somewhere he’s not supposed to be, doing something he’s not supposed to do.”

“Yeah,” Applejack agreed. “You wouldn’t catch me hanging around him. He’s bad news, Fluttershy.”

Rainbow leaned in, eyes twinkling with mischief. “You’re not… interested in him, are you, Fluttershy?”

Fluttershy’s cheeks turned pink. “No! I just thought… maybe he’s not as bad as everyone says.”

“Well, even if he’s not, he’s definitely not boyfriend material,” Pinkie added, munching on her sandwich. “I mean, you’re super sweet, Fluttershy! You should be with someone who… isn’t always in trouble!”

“Pinkie’s right, I mean, yea he’s pretty funny, he says a joke, everyone laughs, but he’s the type of guy no one really wants to be friends with.” Twilight added.

But Fluttershy’s curiosity wouldn’t subside. Something about Discord’s chaotic presence intrigued her, and despite her friends’ warnings, she couldn’t shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, there was something more to him.

The day wore on, and as the final bell rang, Fluttershy let out a sigh of relief, her mind buzzing with the events of the day. She slung her backpack over her shoulder and began walking out when she spotted Discord by the front office, deep in conversation with Principal Celestia.

They stood a few feet away from her, and while she couldn’t hear what they were saying, their serious expressions caught her attention. Discord seemed subdued, arms crossed as he listened to whatever Celestia was telling him. As she stared, both of them caught her staring, she quickly walked away, Oh god, now he knows I keep staring!

It was a side of him she hadn’t seen before, and her curiosity only grew. She found herself wondering what kind of conversation could make the school’s resident troublemaker look so… vulnerable.

As Fluttershy made her way home, her thoughts drifted back to Discord. He was nothing like she’d expected — unruly and unpredictable, yes, but there was something else, something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

“Maybe I could get to know him better,” she murmured to herself, the idea feeling strange and bold in her mind. Despite the doubts her friends had planted in her, she couldn’t help feeling that there was more to Discord than met the eye.

And with that thought, a small smile crept onto her face as she wondered what this school year might bring.

Chapter 2: A rocky start

-NEXT DAY-

The following morning, Fluttershy was arranging her books in her locker when Pinkie Pie bounded up to her, looking as excited as ever.

“Fluttershy!” Pinkie’s voice came out in a delighted sing-song. “What after-school activity are you doing this year?”

Fluttershy smiled, already knowing her answer. “I’m hoping to volunteer at the animal shelter again.”

“Oooh, perfect!” Pinkie cheered. “But make sure to sign up fast! Some of the clubs are already getting booked up, so go to the bulletin board right away, or you’ll end up in something like… the Gardening Club!” She shivered dramatically, as though the thought of pulling weeds was her worst nightmare.

Fluttershy giggled. “Thanks, Pinkie. I’ll sign up at lunch so I don’t miss my chance.”

With an encouraging wave from Pinkie, Fluttershy closed her locker and took a calming breath. Despite the chaotic start to her morning, she was feeling more at ease — especially with the thought of returning to the animals she loved so much.

In homeroom, Fluttershy had barely settled into her seat when Discord strolled in, a good five minutes after the bell had rung.

The teacher, visibly irritated, crossed his arms. “Discord, seriously? Again?”

Discord leaned back against the doorframe, a lazy grin on his face. “You know what they say, teach,” he drawled, “time flies when you’re having fun.”

“Take a seat, Discord. And for once” Mrs. Hrashwhinny said trying not to snap, “Try not to disrupt class.”

With a dramatic sigh, Discord flopped into his chair, ignoring the teacher’s glare. Fluttershy couldn’t help but sneak a glance his way. She still didn’t quite understand what drove him to act out so much, but she couldn’t approach him either. The bell finally rang so Fluttershy looked at her schedule. Science…..I really wasn’t made for highschool.

Fluttershy’s first class after homeroom was Science, and as she walked in, she noticed Discord sitting near the back. Her pulse quickened;

“Alright, class,” the teacher began. “For this semester, you’ll be working with partners. This will be your partner for all labs, projects, and activities for the rest of the year.”

Everyone cheered with excitement, exchanging hopeful glances with friends. As pairs were formed, Fluttershy kept her fingers crossed that she’d be partnered with someone she knew, but then again, she knew no one from that class. As the names were listed down, the teacher’s voice finally rang out “Fluttershy and… hmmmmm……oh Discord! Didn’t see you there hehe!”

She blinked in surprise, and her heart sank a little as she realized she was the only one left without a partner — except, of course, Discord. She turned around slowly, glancing at him. He was slouched in his chair, clearly scrolling in his phone.

“Once you’re paired up, please move to sit with your partner and begin today’s worksheet,” the students groaned at the sound of “worksheet”. “Oh come on guys! Learning about DNA can be fun!” the teacher said with a reassuring smile.

“Yea when you’re a nerd…” Discord mumbled …….a little too loud.

WHAT WAS THAT?!” The teacher turned back quickly, making Discord flinch.

“Oh nothing! Just uhhh…..uhhh…….thinking about what DNA stands for!!.....yea!....yea…..” Discord said innocently while scratching the back of his head.

“Mind sharing to the class what you thought of?” Mr. Green smirked.

“Uhhhh…..OH! Dancing nerd atoms?” Discord said confidently. The class snickered in laughter, clearly his answer wasn’t right.

“Nice try.” Mr. green gave him a sarcastic smile.

Fluttershy took a breath, willing herself to approach him. After all, he was her partner now. She walked to the back and tapped his shoulder gently. “Um, hi, Discord. I’m… I’m Fluttershy.”

He looked up, uninterested and busy playing Tetris on his phone. “Cooool.”

Fluttershy swallowed, her hopeful smile fading. “I guess we should get started on the worksheet.”

Discord didn’t respond, merely shrugged, and put down his phone. Determined to make the best of it, Fluttershy took her pen and began working through the questions on her own, jotting down answers while he doodled absentmindedly on his paper.

After a few minutes, the teacher came around, looking over their shoulders. His brows knitted when he noticed only one set of handwriting on the page.

“Discord,” he said sharply. “Care to explain why Fluttershy is doing all the work?”

Discord straightened, his nonchalance evaporating under the teacher’s glare. “I WAS, uh… I was about to start, Mr. Green!”

“Well, it doesn’t look that way,” Mr. Green replied. “Step outside, Discord. We’re going to have a little chat, your behavior recently isn’t funny.”

“Fuck…” Discord mummbled under his breath and gave an exaggerated sigh and stood up, hands shoved into his pockets as he shuffled to the door. Fluttershy watched him go, feeling a bit disappointed. She had hoped, even if just a little, that he might be friendlier. But maybe her friends were right about him after all.

When the bell rang, she quietly gathered her things and handed in their worksheet. As she walked out, she caught a glimpse of Discord and Mr. Green talking in low voices, Discord’s expression unreadable. After a brief, tense exchange, Discord mumbled something, glanced at Fluttershy, then shouldered his backpack and walked away without a word.

She felt her shoulders slump. He hadn’t exactly been rude, but he hadn’t made any effort, either. Maybe Discord really was the kind of person her friends had warned her about — and maybe it was better if she just kept her distance.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Fluttershy entered the bustling cafeteria, her steps slowed. She was tired and slightly downcast from her interactions with Discord in Science. Spotting her friends, she slid onto a seat beside Applejack, barely noticing the sandwich on her tray.
“Uh-oh, sugarcube, what’s got you all frownin’ on the first day?” Applejack asked, her tone warm but a little worried.
Fluttershy sighed, pushing her sandwich around with her fork. “It’s… well, it’s Discord. We got paired up for Science, and I thought maybe he’d… well, that he might be different. But it turns out he’s exactly how you all said.”
Rainbow Dash snorted. “Told ya! That guy’s trouble with a capital T. He doesn’t care about anything, least of all class.”
Rarity nodded sympathetically. “You’re far too patient with him, darling. Don’t let him pull you down with him.”
“Yeah, he doesn’t deserve to have you as a partner,” Rainbow added. “Seriously, you should just let him mess up on his own.”
Fluttershy took a deep breath, trying to shake off the heavy feeling of disappointment. “You’re all right, of course. I shouldn’t have expected much,” she murmured, though her heart still felt incomplete. She’d wanted to believe that maybe there was a reason for his attitude. But now, she wasn’t so sure. God why am I thinking about him too much?!
“Oh!” she suddenly exclaimed, remembering Pinkie’s advice. “I almost forgot — I need to sign up for the animal shelter club! Thanks for the reminder, Pinkie.”
Pinkie Pie gasped, her eyes widening. “Oh my gosh, you haven’t signed up yet?! Go, go, go! The bulletin board’s gonna be packed!”
“Goodluck Fluttershy! And hopefully you get a slot!” Twilight exclaimed.
Fluttershy hurriedly gathered her things, thanking her friends as she made her way to the bulletin board down the hall. Just as Pinkie had predicted, a huge crowd of students had already gathered around it, pushing and shoving for a spot to sign up for the most popular clubs. Fluttershy tried to edge her way through, her hand reaching for the clipboard, but agressive students accidentally pushed her out of the group, sending her stumbling backward.
She sighed, dusting herself off. Realizing she’d need another approach, she remembered that club registration could also be done at the library.
“THE LIBRARY!”
Not wanting to miss her chance, Fluttershy took a deep breath and hurried down the hall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fluttershy arrived at the library, accidently barging in.

“Shhhhhh!” The librarian hissed.

“S-sorry!” She said embarrased.

She slipped into the quiet, book-filled space and quickly found a free computer, logging in and pulling up the club registration form. Relief washed over her as she selected her favorite after-school activity, submitting her name to the animal shelter roster just in time.

As she exhaled with relief, she noticed a few familiar faces across the room. Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom. Huddled around a computer, eyes glued to the screen and fingers tapping wildly on the keyboard.

Fluttershy approached them with a small smile. “Hey, girls. Aren’t you going to eat lunch?”

Scootaloo didn’t look up, her gaze fixed on the game in front of her. “We’re playing roblox! We’re in the middle of an obby Fluttershy! Its serious buisness.

“Oh, um, okay then,” Fluttershy chuckled. “Just don’t miss too much of lunch!”

Before she could turn away, she heard a familiar voice across the room. Discord was slouched in a chair with his feet kicked up on the desk, while holding what she assumed to be Spike’s tamagotchi, looking as unbothered as ever. Next to him sat Spike, who had a pile of books that nearly toppled as he stretched in his chair.

Spike noticed her first and waved her over. “Heya Fluttershy!”

Discord looked up from his book, eyes flicking to her for a brief second before his usual bored expression returned.

“Oh, hi, Spike,” Fluttershy said softly, a little surprised. She hadn’t expected to see either of them here — especially Discord, who didn’t exactly seem like the “library” type.

“What brings you here during lunch?” Spike asked, leaning forward.

“Oh, I just… needed to sign up for a club,” she explained. Her gaze drifted briefly toward Discord, who appeared to be doodling in the margins of his notebook, adding tiny, animated faces to the edges of the pages. She felt a faint curiosity stirring again, though she pushed it down.

“Oh sweet! What club did you sign up for?” Spike asked, breaking her thoughts.

“The animal shelter volunteer program,” she answered with a smile. “It’s one of my favorites. I love working with the animals, and well…. I love animals….!” she said shyly.

Discord’s eyebrow raised ever so slightly at this, but he didn’t look up. Spike, however, grinned. “No surprise there. You’re perfect for it.”

Fluttershy felt a small blush creep up her cheeks. “Thank you, Spike.”

Just then, she caught Discord’s gaze for a split second, his expression unreadable as he studied her. But as soon as their eyes met, he rolled his eyes and looked away, muttering under his breath, “Soft.”

Fluttershy’s heart sank a little at his remark, but before she could dwell on it, Spike nudged Discord playfully. “Hey, that’s not very nice. You’re not much of a tough guy yourself.”

Discord shot Spike a mock glare but let out a small chuckle. “Touché, Spike,” he said, rolling his eyes with a smirk.

Then he looked at Fluttershy again, a glimmer of challenge in his eyes. “You wouldn’t last a day in my world.”

She blinked, not sure how to respond. “Maybe not,” she said softly, “but… I think there’s a lot more to people than what they let on. Even you, Discord.

Discord’s smirk faltered for just a moment, but he quickly covered it with a scoff. “Sure, whatever you say.”

As they glanced at each other for a brief moment, Spike broke the silence awkwardly.

“So uhh the sky is uhhh…..quite blue today?”

“I guess so,” Fluttershy said giggling softly. “I think I’ll get going now, Bye!” she waved. Spike waving back, and Discord still doodling in his notebook.

But nonetheless, Fluttershy caught that brief moment, that little hint of something else, and as she left the library, she found herself wondering about it all the way back to the cafeteria. Maybe, just maybe, there was more to Discord than even he realized.

Chapter Text

Fluttershy stifled a small yawn as she made her way down the bustling halls of Canterlot High, clutching her books tightly to her chest. The first week of her junior year had already been a mix of excitement and nerves, and today felt no different — except for her morning spat with her younger brother. His usual behavior in the morning had distracted her, making her scramble out the door in a rush. She shook off the small bit of lingering frustration; there was no point in letting it get to her all day.

The morning bell rang, snapping her back to focus, and she picked up her pace toward homeroom, weaving around the crowds of students in the hall. It was nice, really, how she was beginning to feel a little more confident this year. And she had her friends, who always made things a little brighter.

Homeroom passed in a blur of announcements and light chatter, though Fluttershy found herself looking around, her eyes scanning the door every so often. Where’s Discord? she thought absently. After the events of the last few days, she was half-expecting him to come striding in late or making some kind of entrance. But as the final homeroom bell rang, he was nowhere to be seen.

She bit her lip thoughtfully, trying not to be curious. It’s just Discord. He probably skipped… or got caught doing something ridiculous. Still, a part of her felt relieved. She wasn’t quite sure why.

When the bell finally released them, she glanced at her schedule and sighed. Science class. Which meant working with Discord again, if he even bothered to show up. She could feel her stomach tighten with a hint of nervousness as she made her way to the classroom, her mind racing with thoughts of their previous interactions. But today, she told herself, she’d focus on the assignment, no matter what kind of antics he pulled.

As she slipped into her seat in the Science classroom, Fluttershy busied herself with her notebook, half-wondering if she’d end up working on the lab alone again. But a voice behind her broke her concentration.

“Mind if I join?” Discord’s voice was laced with his usual nonchalance, but she couldn’t help but notice the way he hovered a little before sitting down next to her. She blinked, caught a little off guard.

“Oh, um—of course,” she said, feeling the surprise color her voice. She wasn’t quite sure what to expect, especially when she glanced up and saw the teacher giving Discord a pointed look, one that clearly meant, No games this time.

Discord gave a dramatic eye roll, but he slouched back into his chair with a resigned look that almost seemed… cooperative. Well, almost.

“So, what’s today’s torture?” he muttered with a smirk, opening his notebook and glancing at the lab instructions as if they were written in some foreign language. Fluttershy suppressed a small smile, sensing he might actually try to help, even if he wouldn’t fully admit it.

“Um, it’s about cell structures,” she said gently, showing him the outline she’d prepared. “We just need to make a model of a plant cell and label the parts.”

“Great,” he muttered sarcastically, but then he leaned in, his eyes flicking over her notes with a little more interest than she expected. For a moment, he seemed genuinely engaged, nodding along as she explained each step, even tossing out a question here and there.

Fluttershy felt a flicker of encouragement as she explained the chloroplast’s role, surprised to see him actually nodding. “You’re actually kinda good at this stuff, huh?” he commented, sounding almost impressed.

Fluttershy blinked, a shy smile tugging at her lips. “I… I guess I just like learning,” she replied softly, touched by the small compliment.

He shrugged, a faint smirk tugging at his mouth. “You’ll probably be a famous scientist one day. And me? I’ll still be here, probably figuring out how to skip the first day of senior year… again.”

Fluttershy giggled, surprised by his dry humor and the strange, unexpected warmth she felt. Despite his relaxed attitude, she could see a hint of real interest in his eyes, like he was trying, in his own way, to take this seriously.

They worked together like this for the rest of the class, their usual distance melting into an easy back-and-forth as Discord occasionally tossed out a joke, earning a few quiet laughs from Fluttershy. She felt herself warming up to him, finding his odd sense of humor strangely charming. And as the bell rang, she glanced up at him, realizing with a start that she hadn’t even noticed the time passing.

Discord gave her a lazy salute as he slung his backpack over his shoulder. “See you next lab, partner,” he said with a playful grin, disappearing into the hallway before she could even respond.

Fluttershy packed up slowly, her mind spinning with the morning’s events. She couldn’t help but wonder if this was the beginning of a different side to Discord — one that might just be worth getting to know.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of Science class, Fluttershy began packing up her things, still replaying Discord’s last words in her head. She felt a flutter of curiosity about him, a strange mixture of confusion and excitement. Just as she stuffed her notebook into her bag, her green butterfly-patterned pencil case slipped from her grasp and tumbled to the floor.

Before she could reach down, Discord’s hand beat her to it. He picked up the case, turning it over in his hands with a bemused expression before looking at her with a smirk.

“Cute,” he said simply, handing it back to her with an amused glint in his eye.

Fluttershy’s cheeks warmed as she took it from him. “Oh… thanks,” she murmured, tucking it away quickly and feeling her heart skip a beat at the unexpected comment.

Fluttershy lingered for a moment, her pencil case in hand, a tiny smile growing on her face. Maybe, just maybe, there was more to Discord than she’d first thought.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fluttershy strolled down the hall, still thinking about the strange but nice Science class with Discord. She reached her locker and began unpacking her books, feeling an unexpected spring in her step. Just as she closed her locker, Applejack came up beside her, flashing a friendly smile.
“Mornin’, Fluttershy! How’s your day goin’ so far?” Applejack asked, leaning casually against the lockers.
“Oh hi! it’s going alright,” Fluttershy replied, glancing down the hall. She didn’t mean to be distracted, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Discord’s small, unexpected moments of kindness. She turned her focus back to Applejack, smiling gently. “How about you?”
“Same ol’, same ol’,” Applejack said with a chuckle. “What class did ya have?
“Oh I had science! ”
“Did ya meet Discord again? Hope he’s not causin’ too much trouble for ya.”
Fluttershy gave a soft laugh. “Actually… he’s been nice, surprisingly. A little bit aloof, but… he’s trying.”
Applejack chuckled. “Huh, wouldn’t’ve thought. Guess he’s got his moments.” She adjusted her hat, her voice lowering slightly. “But careful ‘round him, alright? Not everybody changes as easily as we’d like ‘em to.”
Fluttershy nodded, taking in Applejack’s words. “I understand,” she replied softly, appreciating her friend’s concern.
But as they talked, her eyes wandered just past Applejack’s shoulder. There, a little way down the hall, was Discord standing beside his locker, talking to Spike. He was animated, gesturing with his hands in a way that looked somewhere between playful and exaggerated while spike bursted out laughing. Just then, he glanced up, catching her gaze from across the hall. For a brief moment, their eyes met, a spark of something Fluttershy couldn’t quite place passing between them.
And then, just as quickly, Discord looked away, continuing his conversation with Spike as if nothing had happened.
Applejack followed Fluttershy’s gaze, her eyes narrowing slightly when she saw who she was looking at. “See what I mean?” she said in a low tone, nudging Fluttershy’s shoulder lightly. “Fella’s a bit unpredictable.”
Fluttershy gave a small, understanding nod but felt her heart give a soft flutter. Despite everything her friends warned her about, she couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something else there — something different, something worth getting to know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The day finally came to an end, and Fluttershy walked home with her little brother, Zephyr Breeze, who was lost in a rant about his “genius” ideas for new hairstyles. Just as Fluttershy tuned him out, they turned a corner near the skate park, and her eyes landed on two familiar figures.

As they turned a corner near the skate park, Fluttershy noticed two familiar figures on the pavement. Discord and Spike were zipping back and forth on skateboards, attempting tricks that, admittedly, seemed more like goofy stunts than anything skillful. Discord laughed as he sped by Spike, doing an exaggerated twirl and narrowly avoiding a fall.

Zephyr scoffed, shaking his head. “Ugh, what a bunch of weirdos,” he muttered, rolling his eyes.

“Zephyr, don’t be—” Fluttershy was about to say something when, out of nowhere, Spike lost control of his skateboard, sending it rolling too far across the sidewalk. Before she could react, it bumped into her ankle, just hard enough to catch her by surprise.

“OH MY GOD! I’m so sorry, Fluttershy!” Spike said quickly, running over with a look of genuine worry.

“It’s alright, Spike,” she replied gently, bending down to hand the skateboard back to him. “No harm done.”

Zephyr, however, was less forgiving. “Uhhhh? Maybe watch where you’re aiming next time?” he said, crossing his arms and throwing an annoyed glare at Spike and Discord.

Discord stepped forward, an amused but slightly guarded look on his face. He glanced at Fluttershy’s ankle, raising an eyebrow. “Well, we wouldn’t want any ‘accidental’ injuries,” he drawled, his tone half-sarcastic but his gaze lingering on her ankle, as if to double-check she was alright.

Then, with a sudden grin, he held out his hand. “Consider it compensation,” he said, offering her his skateboard in a gesture that felt oddly sincere. “You know, in case you’re interested in learning some real moves.”

Fluttershy blinked, taken aback but unable to help the small laugh that escaped her. “Thank you, but I think i’d fall the second I’d step on it,” she replied, her smile shy but warm.

Discord gave her a mock bow, one hand sweeping to the side as if she’d just paid him the highest of compliments. “Suit yourself, but the offer stands,” he said, eyes twinkling in a way that left Fluttershy feeling oddly flustered.

“Well, see ya later Fluttershy!” Spike waved As Discord went back to playing more tricks with the skateboard.

“Bye Spike! And uh….. Discord!” She said, pausing for a moment to think if she should include his name. Although the sound of Discord’s name almost made him turn into stone, But he still acknowledged her by giving an awkward wave.

Before they left Zephyr gave discord and spike one last stink eye, Spike frowning slightly, and well, Discord giving him the same look. Looks like they won’t be getting along.

As they turned to leave, Fluttershy felt her heart race a little. Maybe her friends — and her brother — didn’t understand him, but she was starting to see there was a lot more to Discord than he let on.

“Is your ankle okay?” Zephyr asked showing slight concern.

“I’m fine thankfully, it dosen’t hurt to much.” She said.

“Why do you know them? ….And especially Discord…. ugh.”

“Well I knew Spike from Twilight and well Discord’s my lab partner so….”

“Goodluck on failing Science, you might aswell lose all your hair in your first experiment with him!” He laughed.

Fluttershy frowned in annoyance, “You know he’s actually not bad, he tried helping me earlier in the assignment.”

“That’s probably only because the teacher told him, you do realize he’s delayed so he can’t f up his grades.” Zephyr said with slight annoyance

Fluttershy frowned as she couldn’t think of a response, why was everyone so hard towards Discord? It’s not like he’d hurt anyone’s feelings or bully them….

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As they arrived home, Fluttershy went straight for her bed and flopped down as her bunny angel hopped beside her. What a day…. The day had went by for so fast and so long all at the same time, but atleast her encounter today definitely changed her perspective on Discord. Oh god, she thought to herself. I’m thinking of him again! I can’t have a crush on him, I c-can’t! As her mind was racing with feelings of indenial and puzzles, her phone buzzed with a new message. Picking it up, she saw a text from Pinkie Pie, complete with a string of eyeball and smiley-face emojis.
Pinkie Pie [5:32 PM]: Sooooo, I saw you talking to Discord after school 👀👀! Are you two friends now or something?!?!! 🛹💥💚
Fluttershy’s cheeks flushed as she read the message. She quickly typed a reply, trying to downplay it.
Fluttershy [5:33 PM]: Oh, it was nothing! Just a quick conversation. He was just being polite. =)
Pinkie’s response came back almost instantly.
Pinkie Pie [5:33 PM]: Ooooohhh, polite, huh? Well, well, if you say so! 😏 But I saw that smile on your face, Miss Shy! We really really need to talk at lunch tomorrow! ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
Fluttershy let out a small laugh, her embarrassment melting into amusement. Leave it to Pinkie to notice everything . She set her phone down, smiling softly. Maybe her friends didn’t see what she saw, but she was starting to feel like getting to know Discord might not be such a bad idea after all.
To be continued…..
Chapter Text
Fluttershy woke up to a soft glow from her phone lighting up her bedside table beeping with so many notifs. “What in celestia….?”  She squinted, adjusting to the light, and opened the group chat.
Pinkie Pie [7:02 AM]: Fluttershyyy! Did you have a secret date with Discord??!! 💕👀 Spill the beans!
Applejack [7:03 AM]: Pinkie, come on now. It probably wasn’t like that. But I’m curious too, Shy!
Rarity [7:04 AM]: Goodness, darling, you must tell us everything during lunch! Details, please!
Oh god. Fluttershy’s cheeks grew warm, a soft blush creeping up as she typed a response.
Fluttershy [7:05 AM]: Oh, it was nothing like that! Just a quick talk ^^
Rarity [7:06 AM]: Well, make sure you share all the little details! You never know where friendships like these can lead…
Twilight [7:06 AM]: Hmmmm, idk……Discord isn’t exactly known for being approachable, just sayin’
Fluttershy [7:07]: Oh wellllll uhhh idrk 😭😭
Fluttershy sighed, amused and flustered by her friends’ messages. As she slipped her phone into her bag and headed downstairs, her brother Zephyr Breeze was slouched over his cereal at the kitchen table.
“Yer all shmiley this mornin’, shis,” he said while munching on his cereal, raising an eyebrow. “Whassup wiff that?”
Fluttershy just shook her head, laughing softly. “Nothing, Zephyr. Just… happy to go to school.” She quickly finished breakfast, feeling a bit lighter as she left for school.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As Fluttershy closed her locker, Rarity accidentally scared her in the side of the locker. She turned to see Rarity standing beside her her with a determined gleam in her eye.

“A-ah! Oh Rarity! Hi….!”

“Oh sorry darling!” Rarity exclaimed. “Now, I must know every detail of this Discord encounter. Was he charming? Nonchalant? Or just his usual crazy self?”

Fluttershy laughed nervously, clutching her books to her chest. “Rarity, really, it was nothing. And honestly we just talked because Spike was there….

“Oh, but darling,” Rarity pressed, “it sounds like you two are forming a little bond! He’s not usually one to seek anyone out.”

Before Fluttershy could answer, the bell rang, signaling the start of homeroom. She shot Rarity an apologetic smile. “I’ll tell you more at lunch?”

Rarity sighed but smiled back. “Fine, fine, But you owe me every detail!”

Fluttershy slipped into her homeroom seat, getting out her notebook and flipping to the day’s date. Just as the class was settling down, a few students began whispering, and Fluttershy looked up, only to see Discord stroll into the room — on time, for once.

Mrs. Harshwhinny, paused mid-sentence, raising an eyebrow as she noticed Discord. “Well, well,”  “Mr. Discord, how very… punctual of you. I trust this is a new habit of yours?”

Discord gave a lazy smile and shrugged. “Let’s not get carried away, Mrs. Harshwhinny…” he replied. “I thought I’d try something new… for a change.”

A few students chuckled, and Mrs. Harshwhinny shook her head, unimpressed. “One can hope.” “Now, if you’d be so kind as to take a seat without causing any disturbances.”

He scanned the room, his gaze locking on Fluttershy for a brief second before he moved to his seat, a few rows closer than usual. A few students whispered to each other, and Fluttershy found herself wondering if he’d moved closer on purpose. Trying not to think too hard about it, she buried herself in her notes.

When the bell rang, signaling the end of homeroom, Fluttershy glanced at her schedule and sighed, realizing she wouldn’t see Discord in any other classes that morning. There was a strange, soft tug of disappointment in her chest, though she brushed it off as she made her way to her next class.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At lunch, Fluttershy spotted her friends sitting at their usual table. As she approached, they all turned to her with eager, expectant faces.
“So,” Applejack started with a grin. “Pinkie here said she saw ya talkin’ to Discord at the skate park?”
Fluttershy blushed, her fingers fiddling with the strap of her bag as she took a seat. “Yes, but… it wasn’t anything special, its cause like he was with Spike and you know he was with him ” she murmured. “He just… talked to me. I was surprised he even noticed me.” her voice getting quieter
Pinkie beamed. “You two would be sooo cute together! Like, he’s all unpredictable, and you’re, well, you!”
Rarity leaned in, smiling knowingly. “You never know where things might go. Sometimes, opposites really do attract, darling.”
Twilight, ever the realist, raised an eyebrow. “I’m surprised, he's not really a straightforward guy.”
Fluttershy smiled softly, appreciating Twilight’s concern but unable to help the curiosity that was building in her mind. “I know, Twilight. It’s just… I think he’s more than that…..I guess..”
Rainbow Dash, who’d been listening quietly with a smirk, finally chimed in. “More to him, huh? Well, if anyone could dig up something good about that guy, it’d be you, Flutters. But just saying — he’s got a reputation, and it’s not exactly the friendly kind.”
Fluttershy nodded, brushing her hair back with a shy smile. “I guess so…”
Rainbow shrugged, smirking. “Hey, your call. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you if he pulls any of his usual stunts.”
As she spoke, she caught a glimpse of Discord sitting across the cafeteria with Spike and a few randoms. He was laughing about something, looking completely at ease, though he seemed to catch her gaze and quickly looked away. Spike, who witnessed their eyecontact, proceeds to whisper to Discord while smiling, but also gets punched in the arm by him. She felt a strange flutter in her chest but shook it off, focusing back on her friends’ chatter and their giggling encouragement.
:
Fluttershy’s footsteps were quiet as she entered the library, breathing in the familiar scent of books and fresh wood. Her free period had quickly become her favorite part of the day, a quiet hour where she could escape and immerse herself in animal books. She wandered through the aisles, finally finding the shelf she was looking for. Gently, she pulled out A Guide to Woodland Creatures when—
Two piercing red eyes suddenly appeared between the gap in the books.
“A-AH!” Fluttershy shrieked, stumbling back in surprise and landing on the floor with a quiet thud .
The librarian, Miss Cherilee shot a glare in their direction. “ShhH!”
From the other side of the shelf, Discord’s familiar smirk peeked out. “You SHH!” he muttered back sarcastically, just loud enough to earn another disapproving glance from the librarian. Then, without missing a beat, he looked down at Fluttershy. “You good? Sorry…about that.”
Fluttershy, still catching her breath, managed a nod. “Y-Yes, just… a little startled.” She pulled herself up with a sheepish smile. “Are you… on free period too?”
Discord’s smirk returned as he shrugged. “Not exactly. Skipping sounds a little more accurate,” he said, his tone casual but his gaze a bit wary.
“Oh.” Fluttershy looked down, smiling shyly as he picked up her book and handed it over. “Oh thank you…! I… like to spend my free time here with the animals… in books, I mean.”
“Books about animals, huh?” He leaned against the shelf, disinterested but with a hint of curiosity glinting in his eyes. “Not exactly my thing, but sounds interesting..”
Fluttershy shut her eyes tightly, you got this! Just ask him “I still have 30 minutes, d-do you just wanna uhm…uh… chill with m-me?” OH my god. Why did i say chill…
Discord paused for a few seconds before returning a chill smile “Well, if Principal Celestia dosen’t notice my disappearance, I don't see why not.”
Fluttershy smiled but still kept her cool in, this was finally her first REAL encounter with him, alone! Sure they may be lab partners but….this was different…SHE CAN’T MESS THIS UP!
They began to walk slowly down the aisle, Discord occasionally flicking his fingers across random books with disinterest while Fluttershy cradled hers. After a minute or two, he finally broke the silence.
“So,” he began, raising an eyebrow, “woodland creatures, huh? Got a thing for squirrels and chipmunks?”
Fluttershy smiled softly, nodding. “Oh, yes. They’re fascinating. Did you know squirrels can leap almost ten times their body length? And they can remember hundreds of spots where they hide food.”
Discord gave a low chuckle, shrugging. “Guess I can’t say I’ve ever kept track of a nut stash.” He leaned a little closer, his eyes mischievous. “But, hey, maybe I should. Might come in handy someday.”
She laughed lightly, clutching her book. “Well, it’s… different. Nature’s full of surprises.”
Discord rolled his eyes playfully. “Sure, if surprises mean mud, bugs, and sneaky little raccoons that knock over trash cans.” He paused, noticing her smiling. “You really get a kick out of this, don’t you?”
Fluttershy’s cheeks warmed. “I do. They’re… just so pure. And they’re all so different but find ways to get along.”
Discord gave her a sidelong look. “Hm, sounds like you’re describing high school.” He then threw her a smirk. “Or at least, what high school would be if everyone here didn’t need a personality transplant.”
Fluttershy stifled a giggle, surprised by his bluntness. “It’s not that bad,” she said gently, but then paused, thoughtfully. “But… I guess I see your point.”
Discord raised an eyebrow. “Whoa, careful there. Next thing you know, you’ll be skipping classes and breaking rules.” His tone was teasing, but he seemed genuinely amused.
Fluttershy gave him a shy smile, shaking her head. “Oh, I don’t think I’m ready for all that yet.”
They shared a quiet moment, the comfortable silence stretching between them.
“So… I’ll see you in class tomorrow?” she asked, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
Discord shrugged, his usual smirk replaced by a small smile. “Guess you will. Unless I get, you know, distracted.
 The conversation flowed in bits and pieces, Discord throwing in his signature sarcasm and Fluttershy laughing quietly, feeling oddly comfortable with him.
As they reached the end of the aisle, Discord stopped, scratching the back of his head, looking as though he was deciding something. “So… I mean, if you ever get bored with all that furry woodland friends crap, maybe you could… I dunno, text me.” He shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant but looking almost nervous.
Fluttershy’s heart skipped a beat, as she paused, she felt a smile pulling at her lips.
“Earth to Fluttershy? You there?” He asked as he waved his hand, looks she paused for a bit too long…
 “I uh! O-oh! S-sure! Of course!! I mean of course.” she said, feeling warmth spread through her cheeks as she handed him her phone accidentally showing her wallpaper with Angel bunny
“Oh sorry about that, I forgot to uhm unlock my phone.”
“Its cool, you look good…… I MEAN you and your uh bunny..thing..yea.”
Both of them were literally stone for at least a few seconds, did he just say I looked good or am i hearing things….?
They exchanged numbers in the quiet of the library, and for a brief moment, they just looked at each other before Discord quickly cleared his throat, slipping back into his usual bravado. “Alright, don’t get too excited now,” he teased, a playful smirk returning to his face.
As she watched him leave, Fluttershy couldn’t hold back her smile, clutching her book a little tighter as she felt a giddy warmth settle in.
“W-wait!” She exclaimed before he left.
“Yea? You finally see Spike get a girl?” He laughed.
“D-discord!” She couldn’t help but giggle quietly “But uh no, I just wanted to say uh…I had fun! With you today. I haven’t had a conversation with someone besides my friends.”
Discord paused for a moment before snapping back to reality. “Well, likewise, the only person I really talk to in school is Spike, you see when ya have a shitty reputation in school, no one’s approaching ya”
Fluttershy felt a gush of sadness “I-I’m…so sorry to hear that..” She frowned.
“Don’t be, I….did this to myself.” Fluttershy could see a hint of sadness in his eyes. The bell finally rang hinting the next period. “Are you gonna skip?” She asked.
“Hell yea, you?” He asked smirking.
“Uhh I’m good…” Although she did want to try skipping, but obviously, she’s Fluttershy. She’s not doing that.
“Of course.” He sighed. “Well then see ya later alligator” He waved.
“Bye Discord!” She waved back smiling at him.
As Fluttershy waved goodbye, she caught a glimpse of something she never expected: a faint blush coloring Discord’s cheeks. He quickly looked away, scratching the back of his neck as if trying to play it off. Fluttershy’s heart skipped at the sight, her own cheeks warming as she turned to leave. Stepping out of the library, she could feel a gentle happiness bubbling inside her, filling her with a quiet excitement she couldn’t quite explain.
Fluttershy practically flew into the nearest bathroom, her heart racing and a giddy smile plastered across her face. She hurried to an empty stall and quickly closed the door behind her, leaning against it as she tried to catch her breath.
“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” she whispered to herself, her cheeks still flushed. “Did that really just happen? Did he really blush?” She pressed her hands to her cheeks, feeling the warmth radiate from them. “What does this mean?!”
She took a deep breath, closing her eyes to focus. “Okay, Fluttershy. You’ve only known him for a few days, but… you like him. No, you really like him!” Her heart fluttered at the realization, and she felt a wave of excitement wash over her. “This isn’t just a crush, is it? It feels more… special.”
Her thoughts raced back to their conversation, his playful teasing, and the way he had looked at her. “He’s different. H-He’s not like the others. He’s funny, and he really cares, even if he tries to hide it…” She sighed, a dreamy smile spreading across her face. “How can I like someone so much after such a short time?.....”
Feeling exhilarated, she gave herself a little pep talk in the privacy of the stall. “You can do this, Fluttershy! Just take it slow... Get to know him better.” She peeked through the crack in the stall door, as if the universe were listening. “Maybe this could really turn into something wonderful.”
With a final deep breath, she left the stall, ready to face the rest of her day with a newfound sense of joy and possibility.
As Fluttershy makes her way down the steps from the school, she spots Spike hanging out near a bench, flipping through his phone. She’s about to walk past when he looks up and gives her a friendly wave. She returns it and decides to stop for a quick chat.
“Hey, Spike,” Fluttershy says with a gentle smile. “Waiting for Discord?”
Spike nods, looking a little resigned. “Yeah. He told me he’d be done by now, but you know him. He’s probably… distracted.”
Fluttershy giggles softly. “Yeah, that sounds like him.” After a brief pause, she hesitates but decides to ask, “Do you… talk to Discord a lot about school? Like… friends and things?”
Spike shrugs nonchalantly. “Sometimes. I mean, he doesn’t really talk about a lot of people…” He trails off, suddenly realizing he’s close to oversharing. Spike coughs and looks away awkwardly. “Anyway, uh… he just does his own thing most of the time.”
Fluttershy nods, but something about the way Spike dodged the question makes her curious. She tilts her head slightly. “So… you don’t think he’d talk about… anyone else? You know, just… casually?”
Spike fidgets, glancing around as if to make sure Discord isn’t nearby. “Well… maybe there’s one or two people. I think he notices more than he lets on.” He gives her a quick, nervous look. “Uh… Not that it means anything! Just, uh, forget I said that!”
Fluttershy’s cheeks warm, and she nods, trying to play it cool. “Of course, of course. Thanks for chatting, Spike.”
As she walks away, Fluttershy’s mind spins with possibilities. Maybe… he does notice me? she wonders, her heart fluttering with hope, though she reminds herself it could just be her imagination.
Meanwhile, Spike mutters to himself, “I am so gonna get it if he finds out I hinted at anything.”
As Fluttershy walks away, feeling a bit flustered yet happy, Discord suddenly appears from around the corner, rushing over to Spike. He glances back in the direction Fluttershy went, but she’s already out of sight.
“WHY were you talking to Fluttershy?” Discord demands, trying to sound casual but failing to hide the slight edge in his voice.
Spike raises an eyebrow, holding back a grin. “Just, you know… chatting. She was being friendly. Is that… a problem?”
Discord huffs, shoving his hands into his pockets and looking away. “No, of course not. I was just… curious.” He pauses, eyes flickering back to where Fluttershy had just been. “What did you two talk about…?”
“Nothing serious,” Spike replies with a shrug. “She just asked about school, and… well, you might’ve come up once or twice~” He watches as Discord’s expression softens a little, though Discord quickly tries to cover it.
“Oh mkay….” Discord says, kicking at a stray pebble on the sidewalk. He puts on his usual nonchalant mask, but Spike doesn’t miss the faint disappointment in his eyes.
“Too bad you missed her,” Spike teases, nudging him. “She actually seemed pretty happy talking about you.”
Discord rolls his eyes, but there’s a flicker of hope in his gaze. “Yeah, whatever- WAIT WHAT?— I mean not like it matters,” he mutters, trying to play it off. But as Spike glances over, he can see right through his friend’s cool facade.
After a beat, Discord sighs, a bit softer now. “Maybe I’ll… see her tomorrow or something.”
“Yeah,” Spike agrees, trying not to smile too obviously. “Maybe you will.”
As they head off, Discord walks in silence, his mind lingering on the thought of seeing Fluttershy again—feeling that familiar, unexpected excitement flutter in his chest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As Fluttershy sits down to dinner with her family, she tries to keep her excitement in check, but the events of the day keep replaying in her mind. She’s halfway through her meal when her phone buzzes on the table. She glances at it, and her heart skips a beat as she sees Discord’s name on the screen.

Fluttershy’s phone buzzes with a new message as she sits at the dinner table.

Discord [7:54 PM]:
“Heya. Just wanted to say thanks for today. You know, for not making me feel like a total disaster in the lab. Guess it could’ve gone worse.”

Fluttershy’s lips curl into a smile. She types back quickly.

Fluttershy [7:54 PM]:
“You’re welcome! I had fun, actually. And you did better than you think :P”

Discord [7:56 PM]:
“Oh, so I’m not a complete lost cause? Good to know.”

Fluttershy [7:58 PM]:
“Not at all! You even seemed kind of… interested this time.”

Discord [7:59 PM]:
“Don’t get too hopeful. Science isn’t exactly my thing. But… it’s bearable with you.”

“Someone’s smiling,” he remarks, a playful glint in his eye. “Anything you want to share?”

Fluttershy quickly tucks her phone under the table, her cheeks turning pink. “Oh, no! Nothing, Dad,” she says, trying to sound casual. “Just… a friend from school.”

Her dad gives her an amused look, but before he can ask anything more, she adds, “Um, may I be excused? I have some… studying to do.”

“Sure thing,” her dad replies, chuckling as she practically flies from the table.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As she enters her room, she jumps into her bed and texts back with excitement.
Fluttershy [8:05 PM]:
“Science may not be your favorite, but you’re pretty good at it when you try! : D”
Discord [8:07 PM]:
“‘When I try,’ she says... Don’t set the bar too high…”
Fluttershy [8:09 PM]:
“Maybe I’ll convince you to like it by the end of the year???”
Discord [8:10 PM]:
“LMFAO We’ll see. Anyway… what other classes are you dreading?”
Fluttershy [8:12 PM]:
“Math, for sure. And… P.E. 😔😔”
Discord [8:13 PM]:
“P.E., really? Don’t tell me you can’t handle a little running.”
Fluttershy [8:15 PM]:
“Actually I’m more of a peaceful stroll kind of person🙄”
Discord [8:15 PM]:
“Alright, when I see you running, I’ll assume there’s a stampede behind you. 💀”
Fluttershy [8:16 PM]:
She rolls her eyes at his playful teasing “You’re terrible, you know that?”
Discord [8:18 PM]:
“Hey, I’m the fun kind of terrible. Besides, I’m sure I can still outrun you, even if it’s from detention.”
They continue to banter, the conversation flowing naturally, moving from light teasing to sharing small personal stories.
Discord [9:02 PM]:
“So, what’s with the whole ‘animal whisperer’ thing? Is it true you can get any animal to like you?”
Fluttershy [9:05 PM]:
blushing, feeling flattered “Well… most of the time. I just really love animals, and I think they can sense it.”
Discord [9:05 PM]:
“Noted. Next time I’m stuck with the class hamster, I’m calling you.”
Fluttershy [9:07 PM]:
“Always here to help, what about you? Any secret talents?”
Discord [9:07 PM]:
“I have a talent for keeping people guessing. And apparently, getting detention.”
Fluttershy [9:12 PM]:
“Very impressive. But really… I think you’re interesting. Not everyone takes the time to get to know people.”
Discord [9:15 PM]:
“...Maybe not everyone is as patient as you.”
Fluttershy [9:16 PM]
“Thanks….Its getting late..good night Discord ^__^”
Discord [9:17]
“Late? Lmaoo alr then, gn. Been fun.”
Fluttershy blushes at his unexpected compliment and his teasing, For the first time in a long time, she realizes she’s made a friend who might understand her in ways no one else does.
As they finally say goodnight, Fluttershy drifts off to sleep, a soft smile still on her face.
Chapter Text
The final bell had rung, and students rushed out of the building, excited for the weekend. Spike and Discord strolled toward the school gates, discussing their plans.
“So, what’s the plan? Skatepark? Arcade? Or are we just aimlessly causing trouble again?” Spike asked excitedly while rubbing his hands together
“AHEM, first of all, I don’t cause trouble. I create entertainment .” Discord replied as he removed his earphones and stuffed them in his messenger bag.
“Ohh right, right! So that’s what detention is called nowadays!” Spike said sarcastically.
“Augh, tell me about it, thank god Celestia didn’t put me in detention today. But skatepark sounds good. Maybe we can—”
Spike suddenly smirked, his eyes flicking toward something behind Discord.
“Ooooh~ speaking of entertainment... here comes your favorite distraction TEEHEEEE!!” Spike nudged him in the elbow giggling like a clown.
Before Discord could react, Fluttershy walked past them, her soft pink hair catching the afternoon sunlight like something out of a movie (main character moment fr). For some reason, his brain decided this was the perfect time to slow down reality. The way her hair gently flowed, the way she turned her head slightly, those big, gentle teal eyes locking onto his... and then—
Fluttershy softly smiled, “...Hi, Discord!” as she walked past them.
Discord stood frozen for half a second, his mouth slightly open before he quickly waved back, a little too slow and awkward.
Discord was dazed, barely muttering, almost as if he inherited Fluttershy’s shyness “Uh… hey.”
As Fluttershy walked past, Spike turned to Discord with the smuggest grin imaginable.
“OH MY CELESTIA Dude! Your mouth was open….”
 “What? No, it wasn’t.” Discord snapping back to reality, clearing his throat
“It so was! You looked like you forgot how to function. Wanna rewind time and try again? OO like that one video game…”
“Shut UP, Spike,” Discord growled as he hid his face.
 “Shut up, Spike,” he mimicked, then nudged Discord’s side. “You know, you should just invite her to hang with us. It’s so obvious you want to. Plus maybe she’d want to too?”
 “Eh. I don’t care either way.” He says nonchalantly as he opens his phone.
What are you? A nonchalant dread-head?? That’s why you looked like a lovesick puppy just now.”
“One more word, and I’m ‘accidentally’ tripping you onto the pavement.” Discord stepped closer to him.
 “Okay, okay! But seriously, just invite her. The worst she can do is say no…..and say you’re a weirdo or something…..IM JOKING”
Discord tapped his fingers against his skateboard, debating. Spike’s stupid smug face wasn’t helping.
"Well? You gonna ask her or just stand here looking all—"
Before Spike could finish, Discord dropped his board to the ground, stepping onto it in one smooth motion. And with that, he kicked off, skating down the school hallway.
"Way to go buddy!!" Spike called after him. “They grow up so fast….”
But Discord didn’t care. His eyes locked onto the pink-haired girl walking toward her locker. He bumped through the students, dodging a group of freshmen, spinning past a teacher who didn’t even have time to react before he was gone.
"MR. DISCORD! NO SKATEBOARDS IN THE HALLS!" A teacher growled.
He barely heard it. He was already right behind Fluttershy, slowing down just enough before gliding to a stop beside her. She let out a tiny gasp, clutching her books as she turned to see him casually stepping off his board like he didn’t just break half the school rules.
"O-Oh! Discord?" She asked him with concern.
He grinned, leaning against his board. "Hey, Flutters….. Got a minute?"
"Um… sure…!" As she tried hiding the blush from hearing the nickname he gave her.
"Spike and I are heading to the skatepark. Thought you might wanna join. Y’know, if you’re not busy doing... whatever it is you do when you’re not in that uhh…..animal…shelter….thing."
Her eyes widened slightly. She hadn’t expected an invitation, much less from Discord himself. Her heart did a little flutter before she smiled softly.
"You… want me to come?"  She asked as she shyly tucked her hair behind her ear.
He shrugged, acting casual but clearly trying to be cool. "Hey, it’s a free country. You can say no. But, uh…" He glanced away, rubbing the back of his neck. "Figured you might have fun."
For a second, she hesitated. But then she saw the tiniest hint of nervousness in his expression, and for some reason, that made her decision for her.
"Okay. I’ll go..."
He blinked, like he wasn’t expecting her to actually say yes.
"Cool. Try to keep up."
Before she could reply, the teacher from earlier stormed down the hall, glaring directly at Discord.
"DISCORD! MY OFFICE. NOW." Principal Celestia shouted at the speakers.
Discord sighed dramatically, grabbing his board.
"Well. I’m in trouble. See ya at the skatepark."
And with that, he strolled off, completely unfazed, as Fluttershy giggled behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fluttershy adjusted the straps of her backpack as she and Spike walked toward the skatepark. The distant sound of wheels rolling over cement, laughter, and the occasional crash filled the air.

"You uhh ever been to a skatepark before?" Spike asked, kicking a small rock along the sidewalk.

"Not really…" Fluttershy admitted, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. " I’ve never even been on a skateboard."

"Figures," Spike smirked. "No offense, but you don’t exactly scream ‘skater girl.’"

She pouted slightly not wanting to be a total embarrassment today, “My friend rainbow does though! B-but I guess that doesn't make it any different for me.”

"Hey, you good? You seem a bit nervous...Trust me we’re gonna have fun!"

She smiled softly at his response, and he chuckled before nudging her arm. "And besides, Discord’s the best skater I know—he won’t let you fall to pieces… I think..?"

That didn’t make her feel much better, but before she could dwell on it, they arrived at the park. Discord was already there, standing on his skateboard at the top of a ramp, chatting with a couple of other skaters. He noticed them immediately, his gaze lingering on Fluttershy for a second longer than necessary before he kicked off, dropping smoothly into the bowl and landing a trick before rolling over to them.

"You’re late," he said, smirking.

"Nah, you’re just early," Spike shot back. “Wish you were this early at homeroom..”

Discord snorted before looking at Fluttershy. "Anyways, welcome to my territory! Try not to be too impressed."

Fluttershy looked around at the ramps, rails, and various skaters zooming by. "W-woah, it’s… a little overwhelming…" She laughed nervously.

"Pfft, it’s easy. You’ll be doing kickflips in no time." He reassured her as he patted her in the shoulder

She blinked and blushed with the sudden touch from him. "I-I don’t even know what that is hehe…."

" Which is exactly why we’re gonna change that."

Before she could protest, he reached behind him, grabbed an extra skateboard, and rolled it toward her. It stopped right at her feet.

"Go on. Try it."

Fluttershy hesitated, “B-but I’m gonna fall Discord!”

"Duh," Discord grinned. "That’s half the fun."

"The falling part is fun?!"

"Yeah, when it happens to other people." He laughed along with spike.

"You’re so reassuring…." she mumbled.

"Look, I’ll hold you," he said, stepping closer. "You won’t fall. I Promise."

The two made eye contact for a few seconds, she bit her lip before cautiously stepping onto the board. The moment both feet were on, the skateboard wobbled beneath her. She squeaked, arms flailing as she lost her balance.

“O-OH MY CELESTIA!” She shrieked with terror!

Before she could tip over, Discord’s hands were suddenly on her waist, steadying her.

“A-ah!” She blushed hardly as he held her.

"Easy, easy," he murmured, his grip firm but careful. "I got you."

Fluttershy swallowed, her heart hammering against her ribs. She hadn’t expected this. The warmth of his hands, the casual way he held her like it was nothing—but it definitely wasn’t nothing to her.

"O-Okay…." she managed to say.

"Let’s try again," he said, his voice surprisingly gentle. "One foot at a time, lean forward a little."

She took a deep breath and tried again, this time with Discord’s hands still on her waist, guiding her movements. And for some reason, despite her fear of falling, she felt… safe.

"See? Not so bad," Discord smirked.

"I-I guess…" she muttered, still nervous.

"You guess?" He tilted his head. "I’m literally holding you up right now. That’s an A+ performance in my book!"

"Yeah, yeah, real smooth~" Spike’s voice suddenly cut in.

Fluttershy and Discord both turned to see Spike smirking at them, arms crossed like he’d been watching for a while. The two of them blushed for a split second as they didn’t know they’re little moment was being watched by their friend.

"I hate to interrupt your little moment, " Spike said with a knowing smirk, "but I just remembered—I gotta head home!"

Fluttershy’s eyes widened slightly. "O-Oh… so soon?" she asked, trying to keep her voice casual.

"Yeah, don’t worry though, " Spike shrugged. "I’ll leave you two to it. Have fun, you lovebirds."

Fluttershy’s face turned bright red. " W-We’re not—!"

"Mhm, sure," Spike teased, already walking away.

Discord just snorted, crossing his arms as he rolled his eyes. "You’re like so annoying, Spike."

"I try," Spike shot back, giving a two-finger salute before disappearing from sight.

Fluttershy gulped. Now it was just her and Discord. Really spike? How am I gonna do this…!

There was a brief silence before he tapped the skateboard with his foot. "Alright, now that the third wheel’s gone, let’s get back to work."

She hesitated. "Um… are you sure I won’t fall?"

Discord gave her a lazy grin. "Relaaaax! I’ll catch you. Again." He smirked.

Her heart skipped a beat.

As time passed, the golden hues of the sunset painted the sky as the warm glow faded into twilight, it was already 5:30pm. The streetlights around the skatepark flickered on, Fluttershy and Discord sat on the edge of one of the ramps, their legs dangling, sneakers barely brushing the ground.

"Not bad, newbie," Discord mused, stretching his arms behind his head. " You only almost ate the floor like… five times."

Fluttershy giggled, nudging him lightly. "I think it was more than that…"

"Eh, who's counting?" he smirked.

A comfortable silence settled between them as they caught their breath. The cool evening breeze ruffled Fluttershy’s hair, making her tuck a loose strand behind her ear. She glanced at Discord, who was absentmindedly spinning one of his wheels, his red eyes reflecting the dim light. He looked... calm. Different from his usual teasing self. The thought made her stomach flutter.

"H-hey," she started softly. "Why do you like skateboarding so much?...."

Discord raised a brow at her question, then exhaled, tilting his head back as if thinking. "Dunno. Guess it’s one of the only things I actually care about. No rules, no one telling me what to do… Just me, my board," He smirked. "And Spike, I guess, but he’s annoying, so he doesn’t count."

Fluttershy chuckled, hugging her knees. "That sounds nice, though… having something that makes you feel free."

"Yeah," he murmured, then glanced at her. "What about you? What’s your thing?"

"Animals," she answered instantly, her eyes lighting up. "They just… they make me happy. I volunteer at the animal shelter after school. It’s nice taking care of something and knowing it trusts you, you know?"

Discord hummed, tilting his head. "Huh. I guess that’s true. You’re basically like some Disney princess or something."

Fluttershy blushed hard at that, looking down. " I-I wouldn’t say that…"

Discord grinned, nudging her playfully. " Oh, c’mon, you totally are. The whole ‘soft-spoken, pure-hearted animal lover’ thing? Classic princess material."

"Hehe….Stop…" she mumbled, hiding her face in her hands.

"Alright, alright," he laughed, leaning back on his elbows. Then, after a pause, he glanced at her again, his expression a little more serious. "Hey… do you ever get, like… tired of being good?"

Fluttershy blinked. "W-what do you mean?"

"Like," he sighed, "you’re always nice. You’re always polite. Doesn’t it ever get exhausting?"

She thought about it for a moment before offering him a soft smile. "Not really… I mean, sometimes people take advantage of it, and that can hurt, but… I just want to be kind. The world’s already so full of mean people. I don’t wanna be like that."

Discord studied her for a moment, then let out a chuckle, shaking his head. "You’re something else, Fluttershy."

*She blushed again, clutching her knees tighter. "I-I don’t know about that…"

"Nah, you are," he said, turning to look at the sky. "You’re different. In a good way."

Fluttershy swallowed hard. Her heart was pounding so fast she was sure he could hear it. The way he was looking at the sky, lost in thought… the way his voice softened when he said her name… It was too much. She could feel her face burning.

As the streetlights flickered brighter against the darkening sky, she realized something—this was the closest she had ever been to him. And she didn’t want to move away.

Fluttershy’s fingers lightly traced the worn edges of her sneakers as she hesitated, gathering the courage to say what was in her heart. The warmth of the moment, the quiet of the skatepark, the way Discord was sitting there—completely still, for once—made her want to say something real.

She took a breath, voice soft as a whisper carried by the breeze.

"I think… you're a good person, Discord."

His head snapped toward her so fast it was like he hadn't heard her right. "What?"

Fluttershy’s gaze stayed on the pavement, but she smiled, playing with a loose thread on her lace skirt. "I-I mean it." She finally looked up at him, her teal eyes full of warmth, of something he couldn’t quite understand. "Even if you act like you don’t care. Even if you tease and mess around. I see it."

Discord swallowed. Hard.

Fluttershy tilted her head slightly, her voice even softer, like she was saying something precious. Something just for him.

"You make people laugh when they need it. You make things fun when they’re boring. You make everything feel a little less….scary."

Discord blinked, his mouth opening slightly, but no words came out. He wasn’t sure if he could even breathe.

"You’re not as bad as you think you are," she finished with the gentlest smile.

And that’s when it happened.

Something in Discord’s chest squeezed—like his heart had just short-circuited, like he was about to combust right there on the spot. No one—no one—had ever said something like that to him before. Not in a way that felt so... real. So sincere. His whole body tensed, and he had no idea what to do with his hands, his face, himself—

"Uh—" he coughed, sitting up straight and running a hand through his hair. "Okay, well, that was… That was—" He let out an awkward laugh, shaking his head. "Geez, do you always hit people with emotional monologues out of nowhere?"

Fluttershy giggled, resting her chin on her knees. "Only when they deserve it."

And just like that, Discord was done for.

A loud buzzing sound shattered the moment like a rock through glass. Fluttershy jolted, scrambling to pull her phone out of her pocket.

"Oh no!" Her eyes widened as she saw the caller ID. "It’s my dad!"

Discord leaned back, watching her with a lazy smirk as she fumbled to answer.

"H-Hello? Yes, I— I know, I’m sorry! I lost track of time— I’m coming home right now!"

She quickly hung up, stuffing the phone back into her pocket, her face now pale with panic.

"Gotta run?" Discord teased, raising a brow.

"Y-Yeah," she breathed, brushing her hair behind her ear. "Um… Could you maybe…just stay here?"

Discord tilted his head. " Huh?"

"I just—" she fiddled with the hem of her sweater, avoiding his gaze. "I don’t want my parents asking why I was out so late with a… um, a b-boy."

A slow, teasing grin spread across Discord’s lips. "Ahh, I see… You don’t want them knowing about your rebellious bad-boy phase."

"That’s not—!" Fluttershy’s face burned, and she turned away. "I just don’t want them to get the wrong idea!"

Discord snickered but held up his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright. I’ll stay put. Wouldn’t want Daddy Dearest locking you in a tower over little ol’ me."

Fluttershy let out a breath of relief, offering him a small, grateful smile. " Thank you..Discord."

His smirk softened just a little as he leaned back against his skateboard. "Yeah, yeah. Get going, Flutters. Don’t want you turning into a pumpkin."

She hesitated for a second before giving him a quick wave, then hurried off toward home, her heart pounding the entire way.

Just as Fluttershy reached the edge of the skatepark, she slowed to a stop. Something inside her told her to turn around—so she did.

Discord was still sitting there, absentmindedly spinning one of the wheels on his skateboard. The glow of the setting sun cast a golden hue over him, making his usually sharp features look a little softer.

"Discord," she called gently.

He looked up, raising a brow. " Hmm?"

Fluttershy hesitated for a second, then smiled—soft, warm, and so genuine it made Discord sit up a little straighter.

"I had fun today," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think… I think I really like spending time with you."

For once, Discord had no comeback. His smirk twitched, his eyes widened slightly, and his grip on his skateboard tightened. A slow, creeping warmth spread across his face, but before he could react—

—Fluttershy had already turned and rushed off, leaving him sitting there, stunned, heart pounding, and completely speechless.

Discord sat there long after Fluttershy had disappeared from view, gripping his skateboard so tight his knuckles turned white. The night air was cool against his face, but his whole body felt warm—too warm. His mind replayed her words over and over again, each time hitting him harder.

"I think I really like spending time with you."

He should’ve said something back. Anything. But instead, he just sat there like an idiot, too caught off guard to react. And now she was gone.

He let out a groan, running a hand through his messy hair. Why did he always do this? Why did he always have to act so casual, like he didn’t care? Because now, sitting alone in an empty skatepark with nothing but the sound of the wind and his own heartbeat in his ears—he realized something terrifying.

He cared. He cared so much it made his chest ache.

He didn’t just want Fluttershy to like spending time with him. He wanted her to like him. He wanted her to think about him when he wasn’t around, the way he was thinking about her now. He wanted to make her smile, make her laugh, make her blush like she had today.

And worst of all?

He didn’t know how to make that happen.

With a frustrated sigh, Discord dropped his skateboard onto the pavement and rolled it back and forth under his foot. He hated how short their conversation was. He hated how nonchalant he had acted. He hated that he didn’t know what to do next.

But if there was one thing he was sure of—it was that he wasn’t going to let himself mess this up.

The days that followed felt different—lighter, warmer, like something had shifted between them.

It started small. A glance exchanged in the hallway, a lingering look before one of them turned away. Then, there were the casual moments—Fluttershy would find Discord already sitting at their lab table before she even got there, absentmindedly spinning a pen between his fingers. She caught him waiting just outside homeroom sometimes, stretching like he had all the time in the world, but his eyes always flickered toward her when she walked in.

At lunch, he didn’t just sit with random people anymore. More often than not, he ended up near her, still keeping his usual aloof attitude, but always listening, always aware of where she was. And then there was the skatepark. It had become their thing.

She kept going back after school, sometimes with Spike, sometimes alone. And every time, Discord was there. Teaching her, laughing at her wobbly attempts, catching her when she nearly fell. Their conversations grew longer, stretching into the evenings, dipping into things deeper than just school or skating. They talked about music, about dreams, about things they never really told anyone else.

And with every passing day, every shared moment, every little inside joke—Fluttershy couldn’t deny it anymore.

She was falling for him.

And Discord?

Well, he wasn’t sure what was happening to him. He just knew that, somehow, no matter where he was, his day didn’t feel complete until he had seen her.

Chapter Text

Fluttershy wasn’t sure when exactly it started, but things between her and Discord had shifted. It was subtle, yet undeniable. Every moment they spent together, every glance, every quiet word exchanged, felt like something more. It wasn’t just casual friendship anymore. There was an unspoken energy between them, a kind of pull Fluttershy wasn’t entirely sure how to handle.

The past few days had been filled with late-night texts, lingering moments in the hallway, and inside jokes only they understood. They’d been hanging out more often, sometimes just the two of them, other times with Spike awkwardly tagging along. Fluttershy had found herself looking forward to school, not just to learn, but….. to see him. She didn’t want to admit it, not even to herself, but she was starting to like him. A lot.

But of course, nothing ever stayed simple.

It was Friday, and the school's atmosphere felt lighter as the weekend approached. The sun shined through the windows, casting warm patches of light against the floor as Fluttershy made her way to her locker. She smiled to herself, remembering the way Discord had sent her a simple ‘Morning’ text earlier. It was something small, yet it made her heart skip a beat.

“You’re smiling like you won the lottery,” Applejack’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. She turned to see her friend leaning against the lockers, arms crossed. “What’s got you all giddy?”

Fluttershy’s face heated. “Oh, um… nothing. Just…uhhh thinking…..about..my next class!”

“Uh-huh,” Applejack said, clearly not buying it. Her gaze flicked behind Fluttershy, and her lips curled into a knowing smirk. “Ya sure it dosen’t have anything to do with a certain someone standing by the vending machine?”

Fluttershy turned on instinct and saw Discord standing near the vending machine, talking to Spike. As if sensing her eyes on him, he lazily glanced over, met her gaze, and smirked. It was subtle,barely even there,but it was enough to make her stomach twist in nervous excitement.

She spun back around, gripping her books tightly against her chest. “It’s nothing like that,” she mumbled.

Applejack chuckled. “Sure, sugarcube.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The last school bell rang, releasing students into the weekend. Fluttershy walked down the hallway, adjusting her bag on her shoulder, when she caught sight of Discord and Spike talking by the vending machine.
Discord was laughing at something Spike said, but the moment she stepped into view, his whole world seemed to slow down.
Her soft pink hair swayed gently as she walked. The sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted her delicate features. Then, as if she sensed his stare, she turned her head—her teal eyes locking onto his.
“Hi, Discord!” she greeted with a gentle smile, acting as if she wasn’t screaming inside, lifting her hand in a small wave.
He felt his breath hitch slightly. He barely even realized he was waving back until Spike snorted beside him.
“Oooh, you’re in deep,” Spike teased, nudging him.
Discord blinked, shaking himself out of it. “Shut up,” he muttered, but his lips betrayed him by twitching into a small grin.
“Dude, just ask her to hang out with us already.”
Discord hesitated for a second before rolling his eyes. “You know what…..Fine.”
Before fluttershy could walk any further, discord called her out “Uh hey Fluttershy!”
She jumped slightly. “Discord?”
“Hey,” he said, trying to sound nonchalant. “So… I was wondering if you wanted to come to the arcade with us?”
Fluttershy blinked. “Me?”
“No, the other quiet, animal-loving girl I know…… Yes, you.”
She hesitated, but Discord leaned forward slightly, wiggling his brows. “Come on, it’ll be fun.”
At that, Fluttershy bit her lip.”The arcade huh…..that’s new”
“You nervous I’ll beat you in all the games? HA!!” he said without thinking.
Her breath hitched, and for a second, they just stared at each other.
“Uhm….I didn’t really mean that.” He said sounding more gently.
“I know…But Okay then,” she finally whispered.
Discord smirked. “Good choice.”
Before they could leave, Rarity suddenly appeared beside her, linking arms with Fluttershy.
“Oh, darling, I’ve been looking for you! I’m hosting a little party at my place tomorrow night—nothing too wild, just some fun! You must come.”
Fluttershy blinked. “Oh, um…..”
“Everyone’s coming. Even Twilight is making an appearance,” Rarity pressed. Then, she glanced at Discord before leaning in to whisper. “And you can bring your uhm… friend if you want.”
Spike’s eyes sparkled “OMG Fluttershy we gotta go” he whispered as Discord gave him a NASTY side eye
Fluttershy’s cheeks turned pink. “I-I’ll think about it…”
“Oh pretty please??? It’ll be fun! Think about it ‘kay? Party starts at 10!”
“T-ten?!...”
With that, Rarity waved and walked off.
“Party, huh?” Discord mused. “Sounds like a nightmare.”
Fluttershy giggled softly. “It might be fun tho..”
He shrugged. “Not to mention the amount of crack that’ll be present .”
“Uhmmm….do you… wanna go with me?...”
Discord scoffed, “Well I mean I never go to those things, mostly cause I’m not invited…well, why not! Are ya gonna sneak out or something?
“I don’t know…..Do you uhm wanna…pick me up or something?”
“I mean don’t you think your dad’s gonna find out?”
With a sigh Fluttershy leaned against the wall, “Guess I gotta plan things out.”
Then, with a playful nudge, he motioned toward the parking lot. “Lets….think about that later, C’mon, let’s go.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the flashing lights and constant noise of the arcade, the world outside felt strangely quiet. The sun had long set, leaving the sky a shade of pink and purple.  Without really thinking about it, they ended up at a small park nearby. It was quieter here, just the occasional chirp of crickets and the muffled sounds of the city in the background. They found an empty bench under a big oak tree, and for a while, they just sat there, catching their breath, letting the moment settle between them.

They had spent the entire afternoon together, longer than she’d intended. Time always seemed to slip away when she was with him. He made her feel lighter, more… free.

But also confused. Terribly, terribly confused.

Discord stretched his arms behind his head, exhaling in content. “Man, today was fun.”

She nodded, biting her lip. “Yeah… it was.”

A comfortable silence settled between them, but there was something beneath it, something unspoken. She could feel it in the way he sat just a little too close, in the way his eyes lingered on her whenever she wasn’t looking.

And then,

“You’ve been acting weird lately.”

Fluttershy flinched. “I-I have?”

Discord tilted his head, studying her. “Yeah. Like… I dunno. You get all flustered around me, you avoid eye contact, and don’t think I haven’t noticed how nervous you get whenever I so much as breathe near you.” His smirk was teasing, but there was something beneath it, something searching.

She clutched the fabric of her sleeves. “I… I don’t know what you mean.”

“Liaaar~” he murmured. His voice was softer this time, almost… gentle.

Her breath hitched when he leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees, turning toward her. His crimson eyes flickered with something unreadable, something that made her chest tighten.

For a moment, he just watched her. Then, casually, as if it was nothing, he asked, “So… have you heard the rumors?”

Fluttershy blinked, confused. “Rumors?”

He let out a quiet chuckle. “About us.”

Her breath caught in her throat. “O-Oh…” She gripped the hem of her sweater. “I-um… I don’t really listen to those things.”

Discord arched a brow. “Huh. Well, apparently, people think we’re a thing.” His tone was light, but there was an edge to it. “Guess we’ve been spending too much time together.”

Fluttershy’s grip on her sleeves tightened. “Oh…”

He glanced at her, studying her reaction. Then, more carefully, he asked, “Does that bother you?”

Her stomach twisted. The way he said it—it wasn’t just curiosity. He actually wanted to know.

“I—” She swallowed hard, her mind racing. “I don’t know.”

………………………..

“Be real with me, Fluttershy,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “What the actual hell are we?”

Her heart pounded so loudly she was sure he could hear it.

What were they? Friends? More than friends? She had no idea anymore. Every time she thought she had an answer, he did something that made her question everything all over again.

“I…” she swallowed thickly, her throat suddenly dry. “I don’t know.”

He let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head. “That makes two of us…….”

Another silence. This one heavier, charged.

She could feel her pulse hammering against her skin, feel the warmth radiating off of him from how close he was. Her hands trembled slightly as she clutched them together in her lap.

“Do you…” Her voice wavered. She forced herself to look at him, really look at him. “Do you ever think about it?”

Discord blinked. His expression shifted just slightly, but it was enough for her to catch the hesitation in his eyes. “…Think about what?”

Fluttershy’s grip on her sleeves tightened. “About… us.

For a moment, he didn’t answer. He only stared at her, as if searching her face for something.

Then, after what felt like an eternity,

He scoffed “All the time.”

Her breath caught.

He said it so easily, so naturally, like it wasn’t something that should make her world tilt on its axis.

She felt dizzy. Her chest ached.

She didn’t know what she had expected, but it wasn’t that.

“…You do?” she whispered.

He exhaled through his nose, rubbing the back of his head. “I mean, how could I not?” He turned to face her fully now, and there was no teasing, no sarcasm in his voice. Just raw honesty. “You’re kinda… impossible to ignore, y’know.”

Her stomach flipped.

“But it’s weird.” He leaned back against the bench, staring up at the sky. “I don’t get it. I don’t get you. One second you’re acting normal, and the next, you look at me like…” He trailed off, then laughed humorlessly. “Like I mean something to you.”

Her entire body went rigid.

Like I mean something to you.

Her lungs felt too tight.

“…Do you?” he asked quietly, turning back to her.

The question burned in the air between them.

She wanted to answer. She needed to answer.

But the words wouldn’t come.

Her lips parted slightly, but nothing came out except a shaky breath.

She couldn’t do it.

She was terrified.

Terrified of what it meant. Of how real it would be.

So instead,

She did the only thing she could.

She looked away.

Discord watched her for a moment longer, his expression unreadable. Then, slowly, he let out a soft, bitter chuckle.

“Yeah,” he muttered. “That’s what I thought.”

And just like that, the moment was gone.

Fluttershy’s hands clenched in her lap. She felt awful. She wanted to say something, to fix whatever she had just broken—

But before she could, she felt it—hot pressure behind her eyes, a tightness in her throat.

Tears.

She quickly blinked them back, looking down at her lap, hoping he wouldn’t notice. But of course, he did.

“Fluttershy?” His voice had lost its usual teasing edge. “Are you…?”

“I’m okay,” she cut in quickly, forcing a small, shaky smile. “Really.”

He didn’t look convinced. His gaze lingered on her face, searching, eyebrows slightly furrowed. For once, he looked genuinely concerned.

But before he could say anything else—

A loud ringing shattered the silence.

Her phone buzzed violently in her pocket, making her jump. Panic flooded her veins as she fumbled for it, seeing the name flashing across the screen—

Dad.

Oh no.

She had completely lost track of time.

She quickly answered. “H-Hello?”

“Fluttershy, where are you?” Her father’s voice was stern but not quite angry,at least, not yet. “It’s late.”

“I,I know, I’m sorry! I-I’m coming home now.”

Fluttershy quickly ended the call, stuffing her phone back into her pocket. She let out a shaky breath, still trying to push down the lingering emotions in her chest.

Before she could react, Discord reached out, his fingers brushing against her cheek as he wiped away a stray tear she hadn’t even realized had fallen.

She flinched slightly at the sudden contact, then gently pushed his hand away. “I’m really fine,” she murmured, her voice soft but firm. “I… I just cry a lot. It’s nothing.”

Discord hesitated, his hand still hovering in the air for a moment before he let it drop back to his lap. His expression shifted, something unsure flickering behind his eyes. “…I didn’t mean to-”

“I know,” she said quickly, offering him a small, reassuring smile, even if it was wobbly at the edges. “It’s not you. I just… I just do this sometimes.”

He studied her for a long second, then sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Alright,” he muttered, leaning back slightly. “If you say so.”

But he didn’t look away from her.

And for some reason, that made her heart ache even more.

“Uhm…anyways I have to g-go…”

His eyes flickered with something unreadable. “…Yeah. I figured.”

She hesitated.

Something about leaving like this didn’t sit right.

She took a small step forward, biting her lip. “I,”

But before she could finish, she stopped herself.

She couldn’t.

Not now. Not yet.

So instead,

She did something reckless.

Something she never would have had the courage to do before.

She reached out. Hesitated, then gently, softly , took his hand for just a second. A fleeting touch. A whisper of warmth.

Then she pulled away.

And as she turned to leave, she said-

“…Goodnight, Discord, will…..I be seeing you tomorrow?”

“......Yea.” “…Goodnight, Fluttershy.”

And with that, she was gone.

Leaving him sitting there, staring after her, his heart pounding so hard it hurt.

He lifted his hand,the one she had touched,and let out a quiet, shaky breath.

By the time Fluttershy got home, the house was quiet except for the faint hum of the television in the living room. She carefully slipped off her shoes, trying to make as little noise as possible. If she was lucky, maybe—

“Where have you been?”

Fluttershy flinched.

Her father stood near the couch, arms crossed, his expression unreadable but tired. He had clearly been waiting for her.

“I-I lost track of time,” she admitted, shrinking under his gaze. “I was just with a…..friend.”

“A friend, huh?” The voice that interrupted wasn’t her father’s.

Fluttershy turned just in time to see Zephyr leaning against the doorframe to his room, a smug look on his face.

“Don’t you mean him ?” Zephyr said, stretching out the word mockingly. “Because I saw you, Fluttershy. At the skatepark. With Discord.”

Her breath hitched.

Her father’s eyes narrowed. “Discord?” His tone was laced with disapproval. “You mean that troublemaker? The one your teachers have warned you about?”

“He’s not a troublemaker!” Fluttershy’s voice came out more desperate than she intended.

Zephyr scoffed. “Come on, Flutters. You’re smart enough to know what people say about him. And yet, you’re always sneaking around with him. Late-night ‘study sessions’? Long walks home? Sound familiar?”

Fluttershy felt like she had been punched in the stomach.

“That’s not!-” She shook her head. “It’s not like that!”

Her dad sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “I don’t like this, Fluttershy. This isn’t you. Sneaking around, lying about where you are—”

“But I wasn’t lying!” She hated how her voice cracked, how weak she sounded.

Zephyr crossed his arms, looking far too pleased with himself. “Dad’s right. You’re acting different. It’s weird. And honestly? It’s fuckin embarrassing.”

“ZEPHYR LANGUAGE……..But dear, he’s right…”

Her chest felt tight.

She turned away. “I..I’m going to my room.”

Her father didn’t stop her.

She barely made it inside before shutting the door behind her and pressing her back against it.

Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the world around her.

Why did everything have to be so hard?

Why couldn’t they just understand ?

She slid down to the floor, hugging her knees to her chest, as silent sobs wracked her body.

She wasn’t sure how long she stayed like that.

And as silent sobs wracked her body, one thought burned in her mind,

She hated him.

She hated Zephyr for opening his mouth, for making everything worse, for twisting things into something ugly.

For making her feel ashamed of something she wasn’t even sure was wrong.

All she wanted was to be left alone.

All she wanted was…

She clenched her eyes shut, gripping her sleeves so tightly her knuckles turned white.

She didn’t even know what she wanted anymore.

Fluttershy didn’t know how long she sat there, curled up on the floor of her room, her silent sobs eventually fading into shaky breaths. The room was dark, the only light coming from the dim glow of her phone screen as it lay face-up beside her.

A soft chime broke the silence.

She blinked, sniffling as she reached for her phone. A message.

Discord: Did I do something?

She hesitated, staring at the words. Her fingers trembled as she wiped her eyes before unlocking her phone.

Discord: If I said something stupid, I… I didn’t mean to. Just tell me.

Another message followed before she could even think of a response.

Discord: Was it me? Did I make you cry?

Fluttershy sucked in a sharp breath, her heart aching at the words.

She hesitated. She could just ignore it. Pretend she had already fallen asleep.

But before she could second-guess herself, her fingers moved on their own.

Fluttershy: No, it wasn’t you. Not really.

A pause. Then—

Discord: Then what was it?

She bit her lip. She didn’t know how to explain it. Didn’t know where to start.

Instead, she typed,

Fluttershy: Its just… things at home. It’s nothing. Im okay.

The typing bubble appeared, disappeared, then reappeared again.

Discord: You dont sound okay

Her vision blurred again.

She swallowed, trying to steady her breathing.

Fluttershy: I just cry a lot, Thats all

Another long pause.

Discord: i still feel like I messed up somehow

Fluttershy: You didn’t. I promise.

She could picture him, sitting wherever he was, probably fidgeting, probably frustrated that he couldn’t do anything.

A few seconds later, his next message popped up.

Discord: Okay. But if you ever wanna talk… you know where to find me.

Her chest ached, but in a way that felt a little different this time.

A little less lonely.

She sniffled, a small, tired smile ghosting her lips.

Fluttershy: I know, cya tmrw ;0

And for the first time that night, she felt like maybe. just maybe, everything would be okay.
