Chapter Text

It was a peaceful day in Beach City and homeworld gems were learning how to live on earth in the newly built Little Homeworld. The gems were busy teaching their classes but a 16 year old Steven was back at the beach house writing down schedules and activities for Little Homeworld students.
'I can't believe we're finally done with all this! Not only we can finally heal all the corrupted gems. The diamonds are no longer evil; they're on our side and we finally finished building Little Homeworld three weeks ago and it already seems to be a success! I just need to finish writing the schedules and activities and I'll go down to Little Homeworld to hand them out to everyone.' Steven thought as he continued to write. Until he heard something outside screamed and yelled "What in the sky?!"
He heard another voice yelling "There's like 20 or 30 of them!" Steven started to get concerned and his writing started to slow down and proceeded to listen more of what was going on. The third voice didn't yell but they were confused "Uhh I know I haven't been on Homeworld since my corruption but when did Homeworld ship's look bulky and black and dark purple colored?"
That was the last straw for Steven and he stopped writing and bolted out the front door and looked up at the sky to see around 30 spaceships in the sky.
"Those are not Homeworld ships..." he said in complete shock and one of the ships, one that was bigger than the others, touched down in front of the beach house.

Chapter Text

This was definitely the mother ship.
The ship in question looked more technical and futuristic than any Homeworld ship's Steven ever saw.
Steven ran down the stairs and stopped a few feet away from the ship with his shield ready. He can feel his mouth becoming dry and wondering what's gonna happen next. When the gem arrives to where the ship is they already have their weapons at the ready.
"Remember everyone who ever or whatever is in that ship we need to protect everyone here." Garnet says and Pearl grunts in agreement.
"Yeah whatever they are we'll send them right back from where they came from!" Amethyst said.
But before all four of them knew it the ship shot out a laser making a line between Steven and the ship.
When Pearl tried to make the first attack, a giant transparent light purple wall grew from out of the line; the rest of the lines grew a giant light purple wall so high that the Crystal Gems couldn't see the top of it.
Immediately the Crystal Gems started to attack the wall in hopes of breaking it down.
Pearl tried to piercing with her trident Garnet tried to break it with her gauntlet Amethyst tried to break it with her whip and Steven tried to break it with his bubble boxing gloves.
Nothing happened.
Steven continued punching the wall with obvious nothing is gonna happen but with the adrenaline going through his body he can't stop now or acknowledge that the wall is obviously indestructible.
Stevens' mind was racing with questions. Questions like 'Why is this happening? Who are they? Are they going to attack us?' All his questions came to halt as he heard a soft hissing sound coming from behind him.
He turned around to see that the window hatch to the spaceship was opening and letting purple smoke leak out.
The creature slowly exited the ship wearing a dark purple cloak with what looks like gemstone but it was clear and had active lavender colored fire inside it which made Steven even more nervous and scared.
'Are they gem hunters or collectors? Are they gonna shatter the gems and keep them as trophies?! Oh Stars!' Steven fearfully thought to himself

Chapter Text

The cloaked figure turned their head towards Steven which made Steven's heart stop beating for a second before starting again.
The figure slowly made its way towards him stopped a few feet away from the hybrid.
In this distance Steven was able to get a good look of what he's up against he still saw their face due to the cloak's hood over their head but he noticed their feet and saw that they were reptilian like.
'They are definitely not a gem...' he thought and he saw what shoes they were wearing they were wearing fancy sandals. They kind of look like White Diamond high heels except there were gemstones on the strap...wait what?!
Steven can feel his stomach starting to churn. Yes, he knew people on earth do wear gemstones as jewelry but he can't help but feel sick to his stomach. Those gemstones probably used to be beings and he had to admit it's pretty hard to tell which gemstone has been grown by Homeworld and which one was naturally grown on earth.
The silence between both of them was deafening until the creature said something in an alien language Steven couldn't understand.
"Uhm I can't underst-stand you sorry. D-do you speak English?" Steven asked nervously.
"I do now." The creature said with surprise, Steven.
The creature's voice was feminine soft and had a British accent.
"D-did you immediately learn E-english just from hearing my v-voice?" Steven asked.
"Now I have a question for you. Are you Steven Universe?" The creature asked, completely ignoring Steven's question.
Steven suddenly felt a sense of déjà vu. This is just like how he and the Crystal Gems first met Spinel. He wondered if he said yes, it would end exactly the same way. Until his thoughts were interrupted by a soft laugh coming from the creature.
"I'm just kidding, I know exactly who Steven Quartz Universe, age 16 the defender and healer of the Crystal Gems and the son of Greg Universe and Pink Diamond and who previously thought it was Rose Quartz."

What the creature said made Steven freeze and sent shivers down his spine. How... How did this creature know about his life?
He was about to ask the creature the exact question but the creature was already talking.
" look I just wanna do something to you and tell you something so just calm down and let me-"
Pow!
Steven punched the creature across the face with his bubble glove before realizing what he did but the creature was still standing and turned their head back towards Steven.
"Nice punch." The creature said as they rubbed the side that was punched. "But my knights and sister can punch way harder than that." The creature said with a slight chuckle which caught Steven off guard and offered him a bit for some reason he couldn't understand.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to do that! It was just so much adrenaline going through me, and my head kept yelling at me to fight back multiple times a-and..." Steven tried to apologize and explain himself but the creature brought their hand (that was also reptilian) up causing him to stop talking.
"Stop, it's ok you were just defending yourself but I really want to get these two things out of the way so I sadly got to do this." The creature said with a slight sad tone in their voice.
Steven gave the creature a confused look; he had no clue what they were talking about until he suddenly felt his gem burning and something being sucked out of him.
He looked down and noticed a purple misty line going through his shirt. Steven quickly pulled up his shirt to see the misty line was attached to his gem and a pink glowing substance was being sucked out.
Steven immediately panicked and lifted up his shirt to see that his once pink gem was now a lifeless gray color now.
"What is this?! What's your gem doing to me?!"
Steven yelled at the creature.
"I told you I had two things I have to do with you and I know you're still panicking. So to prevent you from punching me again I've not taken away your powers. But don't worry your gem is still very much alive. I know how it is basically, a second heart to you." The creature said calmly as if they're trying to calm down Steven.
It wasn't in fact it made the teen panicked worse.
"What?! But I want to keep my powers!" He yelled as he tried to grip the misty line but it obviously went through his hand. He tried to move further away from the creature in hopes the line would break, but it didn't; it just seemed to stretch.
Steven got in front of the creature and attempted to grab their gemstone but the creature quickly grabbed his wrist. He tried to grab it with his other arm but the same thing happened and the creature kept Steven in place. He struggled to get away from the creature with tears appearing in the corner of his eyes and he noticed that the creature's clear gemstone turned completely pink.
"Ah, that should be all your powers." The creature said as they let go of the teens arms.
Steven crawled backwards away from the creature and tried to summon his bubble gloves but nothing happened he tried to summon his shield nothing happened he tried to summon his bubble.

Nothing happened.

Chapter Text

'Wh-what the hell? My powers are all gone, they took them. I'm completely defenseless.' Steven thought as tears ran down his face.
"Now that I have your powers there will be no more distractions of what I'm going to do and say to you." The creature said as they slowly made their way towards Steven."
Steven quickly got back on his feet and ran towards the wall where the gems were.
"Guys!"
"Steven!" All three of them said at the same time as they noticed tears streaming down his face.
"What happened? Did that monster hurt you? Are you okay?!" Each one of them asked.
" No I'm not hurt but I'm not ok! They took my power with their gem! I'm completely defenseless!" He exclaimed.
"WHAT?!?" All three of them yelled and started to attack the wall, harder and faster and Peridot started to use her metal powers and her robonoids
to break the wall. Lapis used the ocean water to form a giant hand and started to punch the wall with everything it had and Bismuth shapes shifted both her hands into hammers and started to pound the wall. Even the Homeworld gems joined in to break the wall. But no matter what they did.
The wall just won't break.
Steven was so focused on everyone trying and failing to break the wall that he didn't notice that the creature was inches in front of him.
When he finally turned around he nearly jumped out his skin and suddenly his entire world was silent, the only thing he could hear with his racing heartbeat.
The creature looked at both sides of the wall and noticed how hard everyone was trying to break the wall to save Steven.
"Wow, your family must really love you to the point where they tried to break down a wall for you, even though the wall is completely indestructible. I'm sure when they see what I'm doing to you they'll calm down."
That just made Steven started to shake in fear and more tears and a bit of snot run down his face
'Oh stars, what are they going to do to me and what do they mean when my family sees you doing to me they'll calm down?!' Steven yelled in his mind.
"Now let's get this out of the way. I always wanted to do this to you when I first laid eyes on you."
The creature said as they walked closer to Steven and started to reach out their arms.
Steven closed his eyes and brace themselves for whatever's gonna happen while still shaking in fear.
Until he felt the creature's arms wrapped around him tightly but not too tight that It would hurt him.
"Wait what?" Steven questioned out loud as he opened his eyes.
The creature was hugging him, not squeezing him to death just hugging him.
The creature's soft laugh slowly turned up loud bubbly chuckles.
"I'm so glad I finally got to meet you in person!" The creature said while chuckling and they lifted Steven up off his feet and gently swung him back and forth.
Steven usually loves hugs but this creature came down from earth with 30 other spaceships, made an indestructible wall separating him from his family, took his powers and scared him half to death.
The creature finally put Steven down and stopped hugging him.
"I guess I should introduce myself since there's no need for you to introduce yourself because I already know you. Hi my name is..."
"SAGE!"

Chapter Text

The creature now called sage introduced was interrupted by a voice that Steven was obviously not familiar with but Steven noticed that Sage let out an annoyed sigh and turned their head towards the voice Steven did as well.
The voice in question belonged to a blue eyed dragon-like being who had brownish orange short hair tied up in a messy bun and she was wearing black glasses and she was wearing a brown cloak, but her hood was down. And she also has a clear gemstone in her chest but instead of purple fire like Sage's gemstone she had blue fire inside the gemstone.
"Sage..." the dragon said while narrowing her eyes at Sage.
"Hi Hazel." Sage said sheepishly while waving her arm at Hazel
"What are you doing?! I gave you a three part plan. It should have taken you five minutes to finish but you were gone for almost 25 minutes! The plan isn't even that hard. It was supposed to go like this step:1 find this Steven guy. Step:2 tell him we mean no harm so these gems won't attack us. Step:3 tell him why we are here. How did you mess all that up and why is the wall up?!" Hazel yelled at Sage but seems to not bother them.
"I was about to tell him we mean no harm and why we're here but you rudely interrupted me and as for the wall I..uhhh." Sage tried to explain the reason why the wall is up.
"You accidentally put up the wall didn't you?" Hazel said in an unimpressed tone.
"What?! No! I just uh uh... yes that's what happened." Sage admitted, failing to come up with an excuse.
Hazel facepalmed and sighed.
"Do you at least know how to deactivate the wall?" Hazel asked.
Sage looked to the side while rubbing her arm nervously.
"Uhh no. I don't even know what button I accidentally pushed to activate the wall." Sage admitted to Hazel.
Hazel sighed in annoyance again
"Of course you don't know and take your hood down there's no reason for it to be up." Hazel said.
"Aww but it makes me look mysterious." Sage said while pouting.
"Sage." Hazel said while crossing her arms.
"Ok ok fine!" Sage said as they lowered their hood revealing that Sage is also a dragon-like being with green eyes, medium long brown hair and middle long light purple horns.
"Are you happy now Hazel?" Sage said as she crossed her arms. Hazel replied with a soft sigh until her eyes focused on the confused teen boy who stayed silent throughout their conversation and started to walk towards him

Chapter Text

"Greetings Steven was it? My name is Hazel and that's my eldest sister Sage. As you can see we are both a species of reptilian-like beings with the capability of flight and ability to breathe fire called Shihab Draconis." Hazel explained.
It was silent for a few seconds until Steven broke the silence.
"So...your species is space dragons?" Steven questioned which made Sage smile.
"Yeah, like space dragons! See Hazel more people would understand what we are by saying we're space dragons instead of that smart way you describe our species!"
Hazel sighed again in annoyance. "Yes we're simple terms we're space dragons. Anyway the reason we're here is because..." Hazel said until she was interrupted by the Crystal Gems trying again to break the wall and yelling with Pearl being the loudest.
Hazel rolled her eyes. "By any chance you can calm them down or is there somewhere quiet we can talk?" Hazel asked Steven.
Steven immediately nodded "Yeah ok." Steven said as he walked over to the side where the gems are.
"Guys guys stop please! They're not going to hurt me, they're friendly, they said to themselves please calm down." Steven said, trying to calm down the gems.
"Steven, how do you expect us to calm down when those-those things stolen your powers?!" Pearl yelled while trying to break the wall with her triden.
"Yeah dude I'm gonna have to agree with P over here. When two random aliens arrive in a giant ship with a hundred more behind them, put up this stupid wall, steal your powers and say they're not gonna hurt you? Nah man I'm calling bullshit on that!" Amethyst said while hitting the wall with her whip.
"Amethyst language!" Pearl scolded the purple gem for swearing.
"Amethyst has a point, Steven. It makes no sense that these beings came to earth claiming that they are peaceful and also take your gem powers. They could be after ours,little Homeworld and Homeworld's gem powers." Garnet said while she slammed her gauntlets against the wall.

"Hey! For your information I was going to give him back his powers when we were finished talking to him! I mean, you can properly have a conversation with someone when they're trying to attack you, you know!" Sage said while sticking her tongue out at the gems.
"Plus if we wanted to hurt and or kill Steven he would already be a scratched up bloody,broken,unrecognizable, pile by now!" Sage said with a smile completely ignoring Steven and the gems were horrified looks on their faces. As if Haze read Steven's mind she starts to speak up, stopping Sage from talking more.
"What my dear eldest sister is trying to say is that we really don't mean any harm upon Steven,the three of you and your entire planet, including Homeworld. And we absolutely promise Sage will give back Steven's gem powers when we're done talking to him. We just need somewhere quiet so we can get this out of the way please." Hazel said in a begging tone obviously wanting all this to be over.
The gems looked at each other silent and nodded as they unsummoned their weapons which made Hazel smile softly.

Chapter Text

When everyone left for Little Homeworld Steven turned to the dragon sisters with a small smile on his face. “Well shall we go inside?” Steven said as he walked up the stairs with the dragon sisters following behind him.
When all three of them were inside the beach house Sage closed the door behind her and walked next to her sister.
All three of them silently stared at each other. The beach house was so quiet you can hear a pin drop.
“Uhhhm… you know you two don’t have to stand there, you both can just sit on the couch if you want.” Steven suggested nervously trying to break the silence and the tension. The two dragon sisters walked over to the couch and sat down when Sage propped her feet up on the table. Hazel signed at her older sister’s rudeness “Get your feet off the table, that's rude and we don’t live here.” Hazel whispered harshly to Sage.
“Mmmm…no thank you.” Sage said while she was pretending to think about it and crossing her legs and putting her hands behind her head.
Hazel sighed again “Get your feet off the table!” Hazel said angrily as she roughly pushed Sage’s legs off the table making Sage angrily glare at her little sister and making Steven even more nervous.

“Hey hey! It’s ok that Sage’s feet are on the table. I mean Amethyst and sometimes Garnet put their feet on the table and it doesn’t bother me at the slightest! Well Pearl on the other hand…” Steven said to the sisters while mumbling the last part to himself.
Sage put her feet back on the table while sticking her tongue out at her sister and Hazel rolled her eyes.
“Well do you guys want anything to eat or drink?” Steven offered being the kind guy he is.
“We got water,juice,milk,soda I think we got some protein shakes.” Steven started to list the drinks they had until he was interrupted by Hazel.
“No no we don’t want anything to eat or drink thank you.” Hazel said until Sage whimpered “But I wanted some juice.” Which made Steven walk towards the fridge and pull out a green juice box that had a pineapple on it and he walked back to the dragon sisters and handed Sage the juice box.
“Thanks man!” Sage said as she started to drink from the juice box. Hazel pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration “Ok then… now that you’ve got your juice, can you please explain to Steven why we’re here?” Hazel said, struggling to keep in her anger and frustration while her right eye twitches.

Sage loudly and obnoxiously drinks her juice through the straw, clearly bored of the whole ordeal and stopped drinking her juice. “Why do I have to explain why we’re here?” Sage said as she continued to drink her juice.

The sentence alone broke Hazel.

“BECAUSE YOU ASKED NO BEGGED ME TO TELL HIM WHY WE’RE HERE! THIS IS WHY I DON’T GIVE YOU IMPORTANT TASKS!!!” Hazel screamed at the top of her lungs and her hair bristling up like an angry cat’s shocking and frightening Steven. But what also shocked Steven is the Sage did not react or look at her screaming little sister. She’s just calmly drinking her juice like nothing is happening.
How is she staying so calm?
“Ohh now I remember! I must have accidentally forgot! Thanks Hazelnut!” Sage said with a smile as she petted her fuming little sister’s head.
“Please stop calling me by that name.” Hazel said with a sigh as her hair started to go down.

Sage looked at Steven with a small smile “Sorry you have to see that. This happens all the time but it’s ok.” Sage said in a bubbly tone.

This shocked Steven even more.

“What do you mean this happens all the time?! And why were you so calm when your sister was yelling at you? S-she was yelling directly in your ear and you acted like nothing was happening! What the hell?!” Steven yelled while gripping his head in distress.
Sage laughed at the poor distress teen “Ha-ha! Steven there’s nothing to worry about. We're siblings. We fight and yell at each other all the time!” Sage said.
“And isn’t Amethyst your big sister don’t you guys fight and argue sometimes?” Hazel added a with quizzical look on her face.
Hazel was right Steven did see Amethyst as his big sister. Though they rarely argue and the only fight he can remember them having was when he was 14 at the Sky Arena where they battled out to see who was the ‘worst gem’ but thankfully it all worked out in the end.

Chapter Text

“Well I think it’s finally time to explain why we’re here!” Sage said with a grin.
“Finally!” Hazel said but Sage ignored her.
“You see Steven, we came from a planet at the edge of the universe called Dracor Nebula.” Sage began to explain and Hazel pulled out a device from our cloak pocket and pressed the button which projected a large grayish purple planet with blue stars on both sides of the planet that’s shaped like dragon wings.
“Whoa it’s amazing…” Steven said in awe of the sight of the planet as his eyes shifted into stars. Which made both of the dragon sisters smile.

“Ha-ha yeah her planet is amazing. Well, it was amazing…” Sage said sadly as she looked down at the floor.
“ ‘Used to be’? What happened to the planet? Did It get invaded and taken over by a dictator?” Steven asked, wondering what happened.

“Well you see, five years ago Hazel and a few other brainiac-uh scientists discovered something interesting outside of our solar system. Hazel?” Sage called her sister who pressed the button again on the device, which showed the entire solar system. Steven was even more amazed until he noticed something was at the edge of the solar system. It was round,black and large and like it was swirling.

It was a black hole.

“Is that?” Steven asked, hoping it isn’t what he thinks it is.
“Yes, that is a black hole that was discovered in our solar system.” Sage said in a grim tone which sent shivers down Steven’s spine.
“At first me and the other scientists thought it was nothing but that was our downfall. For one of us realized that the black hole was moving closer and it was sucking up other planets and it was getting close to our planet.” Hazel said in a sad and disappointed tone.
“What?! If you and the scientists knew about the black hole and that it was sucking up other planets and getting closer and closer to your home planet then why didn’t you tell someone so everyone would evacuate the planet sooner or try to figure out a way to stop the black hole?!” Steven exclaimed, wanting to know more.

“We did tried to tell everyone! Well… we did tell the five leaders of the planet but…they didn’t believe us. And no matter how many times we’ve shown evidence of the black hole or a scientist confirmed it they kept dismissing us. So when the black hole got close enough to suck up our Moons we knew the five leaders couldn’t ignore it now. But it turns out the four of the leaders were well aware of the black hole and stole two of the spaceships.” Hazel stopped expecting as she was still in shock at what the four remaining leaders did.
“When the fifth leader announced that we’re evacuating the planet because of the black hole. Everyone headed to the space shipyard, but once we got there, all the ships were destroyed. There was a note on one of the damaged ships from one of the leaders.”
Sage explained as Hazel pressed the button on the device again that showed a note but Steven didn’t understand what the note said.

“What does the note say?” Steven asked one of the sisters.
Sage took a deep breath before she started to read the note.
“‘To whoever finds this note and the damage ship is with a heavy heart that I Celeste the third leader has destroyed the remaining spaceships for I and the other two leaders knew about the black hole's existence before the scientist just told us except for the fifth leader. Why we didn’t listen and evacuated the planet sooner is unknown even to us. Maybe it was out of denial, ignorance, or just stupidity.
When we saw that the black hole was getting even closer and more dangerous, instead of agreeing to evacuate the planet we decided to save ourselves.
We knew if we evacuated the planet we would be forced to take responsibility for our actions and choices for not doing it sooner, but we cannot do that.
We just weren’t brave enough…
So I wish you and everyone good luck and may the star goddess shine her warm light upon you.’”

Sage finished reading with tears streaming down her face. Hazel noticed this and went to comfort her crying older sister and gave her a comforting hug.
Steven couldn’t believe what he heard on the note. How can the four remaining leaders just abandon their people just like that? I mean yes Steven knew that his own mom abandoned Spinal in the garden for 6000 years masking it as a game as the poor gem waited for someone who will never ever return.
But those four leaders,their decisions, the note this made Steven mad no not mad furious. So furious that he didn’t even notice that his complexion started glowing pink but the dragon sisters definitely noticed.
“How? How can they do to their own people?” Steven said as he put his hands on the table.
“They knew that there was a black hole in their solar system and they said and did nothing. They knew staying closer and still did nothing and said nothing.” Steven thought as he started to grip the front of the table tight. While the dragon sisters watched in silence.
“I mean I can understand that my own mom abandoned Spinal because she wanted to prove to Yellow and Blue that she was ready for her own planet and colony. But what the four leaders did was leave their own people to die because they didn’t want to take responsibility and all they have to say is good luck?!” Steven started to yell as his anger kept building up, his grip tightened on the table forming small cracks and his body turned more glowing pink.

“Those…those…” Steven said try to find the correct words to call the four leaders until he found it.

“Those BASTARDS!!!” Steven yelled, ripping two pieces of the table he was gripping clean off surprising both of the dragon sisters.
When Steven looked at the two sisters who were still in shock at what they just saw and he looked at the table then his hands that he was still holding the broken pieces of the table.
Surprised Steven dropped the two broken table pieces and his complexion returned to normal but inside his head was a whirlwind of panicked questions.
‘What was that?! Why was I turning pink?! Is this a new power?! A-are Sage and Hazel scared of me now? They haven’t said anything.’ Steven thought in fear as he looked at the dragon sisters.
