Chapter Text

“I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.”
— Pablo Neruda, One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII

—————

Earth: Baby, where are you? I'm already here.
Mix: Just wait there, please. My cousins and I are still on our way.

—————

Mix was sitting in the passenger seat, holding his phone while replying to his boyfriend. His cousins were chatting in the back while they made their way to the golf club. Every Sunday, it had become a tradition for the cousins to hang out together. Last week, they went to the shooting range, and this time, they planned to try golf. Even though they each had their own cars, they chose to ride in a van together. After all, what’s the point of bonding if they’re in separate cars, right?

Unfortunately, they weren’t complete today. Mix’s cousin, Mark, couldn’t join because he planned to visit his grandparents on his mother’s side. But he promised to join the next outing.

The cousins are all from their father's side. Arm, the oldest, was like the “mother hen.” Maybe because he was an only child and the eldest cousin, he treated his younger cousins as siblings. If things ever got too chaotic, Arm was the one who could calm everyone down.

Mark, Mix’s cousin, was the most dependable and also an only child. The most sensible one, he was often referred to as the “last remaining brain cell” among the Chaiyahwimhon cousins.

Off, Mix's eldest brother, was the troublemaker—the primary instigator of the cousins' mischief.

Tay, another cousin, was the prankster who loved to joke around and even humiliate himself in public. Mix often wondered what was up with his P'Tay since he was definitely the quirkiest of the group.

Apo, Tay’s younger brother, was a playboy and a constant source of headaches for Arm. Sometimes, Apo’s admirers even got into fights over him, with Mix’s cousin being the reason for all the drama.

Bible, Mix’s second eldest brother, was like a mini version of Apo. They were both flirty, and they were partners in crime. If Apo was up to something, Bible was usually involved, and vice versa.

As for Mix, he is the youngest of the Chaiyahwimhon cousins. His dads, Aof and Patt, were incredibly protective of him, maybe because they still saw him as a child, even though he was already 20.

Mix had also a heart condition, which led his parents to be extra strict. Although he’d undergone surgery and had a heart transplant, it didn’t lessen his parents’ protectiveness. He’d been sheltered and homeschooled his entire life, and the only time he got to go out was when his cousins invited him along.

It was tough, especially when he wanted something, but his parents wouldn't listen. For example, he wanted to attend university for college, but his parents had already decided he’d continue homeschooling. It was exhausting and completely draining.

It didn’t help that his siblings and cousins treated him like a child. He understood that the people around him only wanted the best for him, but he couldn’t stay locked up in their mansion forever.

Mix longed for freedom—and he finally tasted that freedom when he met Earth.

The night was cold, and Mix was nervous—this was his first time sneaking out. His best friend, Khaotung, had texted him, saying he was already outside the house. Khao had invited him to hang out, but, as usual, Mix's parents hadn't allowed him to go.

He was so fed up and frustrated that he accidentally talked back to his Papa Aof, which only led to him getting grounded. But what else was new? Being grounded didn’t really matter because, in the first place, he was rarely allowed out of the house.

He felt suffocated at home and just wanted a chance to go out once in a while. He’d thought about sneaking out before but never had the courage to do it—until tonight.

His heart was pounding as he walked. He slipped into the kitchen, exited through the back door, and ran down the long path to the gate before stepping outside.

When Mix finally got out, he was greeted by Khao’s worried face. "Why did you run? This plan of yours is really making me nervous."

"Are your guards gone?" Khao asked, rubbing Mix’s back to calm him down.

"Some of them are on their day off, and only two guards are left. I think they’re somewhere around, but thankfully, I didn’t run into them. I made sure to turn off the CCTVs earlier," Mix replied, still catching his breath.

They both rode in Khao's car, the windows rolled down as per Mix's request.

"Mix, stop that. Don’t stick your head out the window," Khao reminded him as he caught Mix leaning halfway out of the car.

"Why? I just wanted to get some fresh air." Mix rolled his eyes and sat back properly, but his gaze remained fixed outside, watching the still-open shops at this hour—1 A.M.

Khao had told Mix he’d bring him to a motor racing event to watch. Khao’s friend owned the racing track, which is how he got invited. Mix had only tagged along because he wanted to go out.

When they arrived, Mix didn’t expect to be seated in the VIP section, right next to Khao and the track’s owner, First, who had introduced himself to Mix earlier. He hadn’t realized his best friend, Khaotung, was such a big time now.

He grinned teasingly at Khao, raising his eyebrows. Mix then motioned to First, who was seated on the other side of Khao, talking to one of his staff and too preoccupied to notice them.

"Don’t be weird, Mix. We’re just friends!" Mix chuckled at Khao's flustered whisper, noticing a blush on his cheeks. They grew up together, with Khao practically living at Mix’s house because he was always there to hang out. They were childhood friends and neighbors, and Khao’s dad was also friends with Mix’s dad. So he knew his best friend all too well. And First was definitely more than just a friend to Khao.

The race begins. At first, the racer with the red motorcycle leads, but just before the final lap, a green motorcycle with the number 94 at the front suddenly appears and overtakes. The crowd rises to their feet and cheered as the race ends.

First tells Khao and Mix that he’s heading down to the podium to present the trophy to the winners. He invites them to come along, but they decline, leaving him to go alone.

The three men approach the winner’s podium. Mix’s attention is immediately drawn to the winner standing in the center. From his spot, Mix can clearly see the man’s handsome face, accentuated by his tanned skin. He has sunglasses resting on his head, pushing back his hair, with a few stray strands falling free, adding to his appeal. In his left hand, he holds a green-and-black helmet, while in his right, he raises the trophy he just received.

Mix’s lips part in awe—the man’s presence is striking, captivating even as he simply stands there. He exuded an air of complete freedom, as if no weight or worry could hold him down. His posture relaxed yet confident, as though he belonged entirely to the moment. And Mix envied that; he wished he could feel that freedom as well.

After the awarding ceremony, Khao and Mix went down to say goodbye to First, as they were leaving. It was already 4 A.M., and Mix's househelps would wake up at 5 A.M., so he needed to head home quickly to avoid being seen and reported for coming home so late.

"Khao, I just need to use the restroom for a moment," Mix said, tapping Khao, who was talking to First.

"I'll go with you," Khao offered.

"No, it's fine. Just talk to First."

"Okay." Khao nodded in agreement, and Mix excused himself to First and left.

He asked the guard present where the restroom was and easily found it. After exiting the stall, he scrunched his nose at the smell of cigarette smoke. He walked to the handwashing area and saw a tanned man there who was leaning against the countertop of the hand washing area.

The upper part of the man’s racing suit was down, and Mix could clearly see the raven tattoo on his back in the mirror because he was only wearing a white racerback top. A lit cigarette was between his fingers.

Mix's eyes widened. "You're the winner, right?"

"From the race earlier. You were amazing," Mix continued, but the man just looked at him without saying a word. While washing his hands, Mix couldn’t help stealing glances at the man from time to time. He returned his gaze to his hands, scrunching his nose again. He truly disliked the smell of cigarettes, which is why his cousins who smoked never did so when he was around.

"You know smoking is bad for your health," Mix said, drying his hands with the hand dryer.

"How does my smoking concern you?" The man's tone was low and the younger felt the intensity of the man’s gaze deepening. Mix swallowed hard and looked away, feeling a lump in his throat. The man appeared dangerously mysterious.

...And Mix had always been intrigued by anything mysterious.

He met the man’s gaze and walked over until they were face to face. Mix couldn’t help but notice how much taller and bigger the man appeared, even while he was casually leaning against the countertop, while Mix stood upright.

Mix tilted his head, staring straight into the man's eyes. "I'm concerned because I'll be getting secondhand smoke, which is more dangerous."

"Could you please put out your cigarette?" he requested softly while smiling.

He saw the man raise an eyebrow, but in the end, the man let out a sigh. Mix glanced at the cigarette when the man tapped it against the countertop.

"Happy?" The man raised his right hand, holding the extinguished cigarette.

"Yes." Mix smiled and took a mint candy from his pocket. He had just gotten that candy from Khao's car. He took the man’s left hand and opened his palm. He placed the mint candy there and closed the man's hand. "Thank you so much, Phi."

After the race, Earth wanted to let off some steam, so he went to smoke in the restroom. It was his usual spot, and no one ever stopped him—until now. He looked up and saw a fair, slim young man approaching him, wearing a white cardigan over a black shirt and a saturn pendant necklace that adorned his swan-like neck.

The young man had an oval-shaped face with soft features that conveyed warmth and youthfulness. His bright, expressive eyes reflected depth, showing curiosity and a hint of interest as he looked at Earth.

Earth clenched the mint candy in his hand. "What's your name?" he asked, licking his bottom lip.

"I'm Mix." Mix extended his hand. "And yours, Phi?"

"Mix! Are you there?" Mix squeezed his eyes shut at the sound of Khao’s voice calling from outside the restroom. He retracted his hand and opened his eyes, turning back to face Earth as he sighed.

"Will you be here tomorrow?" Earth noticed the urgency in the younger man’s expression.

"I'm not sure," Mix replied, hesitantly and quietly.

"If you come to the racetrack tomorrow, I’ll tell you my name," Earth said, straightening up and tossing his cigarette into the trash can.

"Can’t you just tell me now?" Mix asked, reaching out to touch Earth’s arm. He couldn't help but notice the tattoo on the man's inner bicep, which read 'PEACE.'

Noticing where Earth’s gaze had landed, Mix quickly pulled his hand back. "I'm sorry, Phi."

Earth looked up and smirked as he saw a faint blush coloring Mix’s cheeks—a cute, thin-faced kid.

"Mix!" Khao’s voice grew closer.

"I'll tell you tomorrow," Earth said with finality, before he left the restroom.

Mix had made it home, but he couldn't shake off what had happened earlier. He sighed, regretting that he hadn’t gotten the guy’s name. He asked Khao, but all Khao knew was the man’s race name:

Raven 94.

He remembered the tattoo on the man’s back—a beautifully crafted raven encircled by a large ring, almost like a halo.

Mix tried searching for 'Raven 94' on Instagram and other social media platforms, but nothing came up. He even looked up First’s racetrack, and although some information appeared, the names of the participants seemed to be confidential.

This guy was really lowkey.

Mix smiled to himself, he would definitely be back at the racetrack tomorrow.

Chapter Text

Mix snapped out of his thoughts as he felt the van come to a stop. Once they arrived at the golf club, they headed to the reception area.

"Nah, she's interested in me," Mix heard his cousins, Apo and Bible, bantering. They were both looking at a beautiful woman who was glancing in their direction.

"No way, bro. Stop dreaming. She's looking at me," Bible teased Apo back. "Watch, I'm going over to talk to her."

Mix just shook his head at his cousins’ playboy antics. They hadn’t even left the reception area, and it seemed like his cousins were already making their moves.

"Guys," Mix called for his cousins' attention as they put their bags into the lockers, while he sat on a nearby couch.

"What's up, N'Mix?" Arm asked, noticing Mix’s serious expression. "Is something wrong?"

"Nothing, Phi. I just don't feel like playing golf today. I'd rather get a massage. They have a spa here, right?" Mix lowered his head, nervously fidgeting with his fingers.

"Want me to go with you?" Off, Mix's older brother, offered.

"No, Phi, I’d like to relax alone if that’s okay." Mix looked at his brother with hopeful eyes.

And how could Off say no to his younger brother, especially when Mix looked at him like that? He nodded and escorted Mix to the golf club's spa area before rejoining his cousins at the driving range.

—————

Mix: Phi, I'm waiting for you at the massage area.

Earth: Okay, I'm on my way.

—————

After a few minutes, Mix spotted Earth arriving in a golf cart, and he couldn't help but admire Earth’s muscular arms stretching as he steered. Earth wore a black polo shirt with a white-trimmed collar, a small embroidered logo, and paired it with light khaki pants and a woven beige belt.

When Earth pulled up, Mix quickly got into the golf cart beside him.

"Good morning, Phi," Mix greeted and gave Earth a light kiss on the cheek.

"Have you eaten breakfast?" Earth asked, one hand on the wheel and the other resting on Mix's thigh. He tugged slightly at Mix’s white shorts, trying to cover up his exposed legs.

"Yes, Phi." Mix placed his hand over Earth’s to stop him from adjusting his shorts. "And, Earth, that’s how they’re supposed to be—that’s why they’re called shorts."

"So, how many hours?" Earth sighed, finally giving up on adjusting Mix’s shorts, leaving his hand resting on Mix’s thigh and giving it a gentle squeeze. Mix’s legs looked so white and soft, and Earth couldn’t help but be drawn to them.

"About four to five hours, I think. I told the others not to bother me, so I’m sure they won’t come near the massage area. Good excuse, right?" Mix glanced at Earth, eagerly awaiting his praise.

Earth chuckled at his boyfriend’s excitement. "Yeah, sure," he said, ruffling Mix’s hair with the hand on his thigh before returning it to its resting place.

Earth parked the golf cart when they reached the parking lot. They got out and headed straight to Earth’s car, which was parked nearby.

"Where are we going, Earth?" Mix asked as he fastened his seatbelt.

"You said you wanted to play golf, right? That’s why you invited your cousins to golf today."

"Yeah, and now I feel so silly for telling them I’d rather get a massage, considering I was the one who invited them in the first place." Mix pouted, ranting a bit.

"Then we'll go to a different golf course. We can't play golf here because your siblings and cousins might see us. The equipment is already in the trunk."

Mix's eyes went wide with excitement. He turned to Earth, noticing that Earth was looking at him, smiling.

"Thank you, Phi!" Mix unbuckled his seatbelt to hug Earth.

Earth wrapped his arms around Mix as the younger one nestled his arms around Earth's neck. The older buried his face in the crook of Mix's neck, breathing in his familiar scent.

Baby scent.

Earth’s baby.

When Mix pulled away, he gave Earth a quick peck on the lips, then sat back as if nothing had happened.

Earth looked at Mix, amused. He fastened his seatbelt and started the engine. A smile never left his lips while driving. One hand held the steering wheel, while the other lightly brushed his lips. His elbow rested on the car door as he gently touched his lips.

Mix grinned, his heart racing. He felt giddy, and butterflies fluttered in his stomach. Earth always remembered everything about Mix, even the smallest details.

'To be loved is to be known.'

Mix didn’t believe that at first. The people around him loved him, even though they didn’t fully understand him. Mix loved spicy foods, a fact his parents were unaware of since they always bought him sweets instead. But he knew they loved him because they still cared for him. He adored animals, yet his cousins and siblings didn’t know this either. Still, Mix understood that they loved him in their own way. Mix felt loved by his family and friends despite them not knowing all his preferences and passions. Love can exist in various forms, transcending complete knowledge of one another.

Love stems from the heart and sincerity. You don’t have to know someone well to love them and show kindness. But when Mix met Earth, he experienced the meaning of 'to be loved is to be known.' And it feels amazing.

It’s truly heartwarming to know that someone remembers you—your words, your dreams, your favorites, and your hobbies. Especially when they make an effort to get to know you, just like Earth does.

Earth knows that Mix prefers coffee over milk, specifically iced Americano with less sugar. The former always order it for him during their late-night escapades at a 24-hour café.

Earth understands which movie brings comfort to Mix whenever he feels down. It's Coco. Mix always cries while watching it, but it has become a source of solace for him.

Even though Earth can be stingy with food, he always lets Mix try his favorite dishes because he knows Mix is curious about their flavors.

It speaks volumes when someone cares enough to truly know you. The feeling that someone understands you as well, or even better, than you know yourself is a different kind of love.

Mix recalls one time when he sneaked out in the middle of the night. Their relationship was still in its early stages at that time. As soon as he stepped out of the gate, he saw Earth’s car. He got in and was surprised to find a small throw pillow featuring Jake from Adventure Time, Mix's favorite cartoon character, resting against the seat. He had only mentioned once that he wanted a Jake throw pillow, and he couldn’t even remember when he had brought it up amidst all their conversations.

It's a small detail, but Mix deeply appreciates what his boyfriend did for him.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the golf course as Earth stood behind Mix, ready to teach him the intricacies of the game. A rush of excitement mingled with a hint of nervousness surged through Mix as he gripped the golf club tightly.

"Okay, baby, let’s start with your stance," Earth instructed, his voice calm and encouraging. He gently placed his hands on Mix's shoulders, positioning his feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. "Feet shoulder-width apart for balance. You want to feel stable."

Mix nodded, concentrating on the sensation of the ground beneath him. Earth adjusted his grip on the club, guiding Mix's hands into the correct position. "Hold the club lightly but firmly," he explained. "You want to feel in control without gripping it too tightly."

Mix couldn't help but notice how large Earth’s hand was as it enveloped his own. The veins in Earth’s hands intrigued Mix, and he admired them so much that he had even created an album dedicated to pictures of Earth's hands in his gallery. Was that weird?

He thought of his cousin Tay, who had once shown him an album full of pictures of New’s feet, Tay’s boyfriend. So, maybe it was okay for him to have an album of pictures of Earth’s hands too.

"Mix? Mix, are you listening?" Earth’s voice broke through his thoughts.

Mix blinked in surprise and turned to look at Earth behind him.

"No, you're obviously not listening," Earth said with a sigh. He ran his fingers through his hair, pushing back the shades perched atop his head, causing a few strands to fall into his eyes—one of Mix’s favorite moves from Earth.

"Sorry, Phi. I got distracted," Mix admitted, finally turning to face him.

"What are you distracted by?" Earth asked, his tone firm as he glanced in a particular direction. Mix followed his gaze and saw a group of young men, possibly around his age or slightly older, staring at them.

"No, I'm not distracted because of them," Mix shook his head.

"I’ve noticed they've been watching you for a while." Mix watched as Earth’s brows furrowed, his expression sour and seemingly upset.

Mix knew exactly how to handle a jealous Earth.

So, he wrapped his arms around Earth’s neck, feeling the older man's arms encircle his waist as he pulled him closer.

Mix looked up at Earth and gently caressed his jaw, feeling the faint stubble that had started to grow. "Are you angry?" he asked softly.

Earth didn’t respond but stared intently at Mix. Leaning up, Mix reached for his lips and pressed a chaste kiss against them. "Please don’t be angry na?"

"I really love it when I feel your stubble when I kiss you," Mix said with a smile as he felt Earth pull him closer and crouch down to kiss him.

Mix suddenly remembered his first kiss with Earth, which happened because of jealousy.

It was midnight, and Earth had a race. Mix had decided that if Earth won tonight, he would be Earth's boyfriend. Mix was sitting beside Khao, who had come with him since Earth couldn’t pick him up from home tonight due to the race. Mix had told Earth he’d come with Khao instead. The older had been courting Mix for about six months, picking him up every midnight to hang out.

Initially, Earth wanted to formally court Mix and meet his parents, but the younger had asked him to wait, explaining his situation. Mix had promised to introduce Earth to his family in time, and thankfully, Earth agreed.

Mix stood up excitedly when he saw Earth leading in the final lap. As he made his way down to greet his suitor, a group of guys blocked his path, and one of them got pushed forward in front of Mix.

"Uh… Phi, can I get your number?" the guy asked, scratching his neck awkwardly as he looked at Mix.

"Your cellphone?" Mix smiled and held out his hand.

Khao, standing beside him, nudged him and whispered, "Earth's going to kill you."

Mix rolled his eyes and ignored Khao.

The guy's friends cheered as he handed his phone to Mix, who chuckled as they playfully shoved their friend forward.

Mix entered a number into the phone and handed it back to the guy. "Call my boyfriend first and ask him for my number."

"He’s tonight’s race winner, Raven 94." Mix smiled sweetly, then grabbed Khao and walked past the group.

"Damn, Mix. I thought you were really going to give him your number. And you were seriously hot back there! If I didn’t know you, I’d have tried my luck, too," Khao said as they walked.

"You'd have gotten turned down right away."

"You're no fun."

Mix was about to reply when his phone vibrated in his pocket.

Earth: I’m at the parking lot.

Mix said goodbye to Khao, telling him Earth would give him a ride home. Khao nodded as he watched Mix walk away.

When Mix reached the parking lot, he quickly spotted Earth's motorbike. It wasn't the one he used for racing; Earth had a separate bike for daily use, which Mix had ridden on many times before. The older was leaning against his bike, still wearing his suit minus the gloves. It seemed he hadn't even had time to change in his hurry to get to the parking lot. And there was a cigarette between his fingers. The moment he saw Mix approaching, he tossed the cigarette to the ground and stamped it out.

Mix frowned at the sight. Since Earth had started courting him, he hadn't smoked—until now.

"Why are you smoking?" Mix asked, noticing Earth’s brows were furrowed, and he wasn’t meeting his gaze.

"Are you angry?" Mix asked gently when Earth didn’t respond. Closing the distance between them, Mix softly held Earth’s jaw, turning his face towards him and stroking the slight stubble along his jawline. "What's wrong, Phi?"

"I've seen guys hit on you before when I’m not around, but tonight was the first time I saw you actually entertain them." Earth’s gaze was sharp as he looked at Mix. "You even gave him your number."

"Damn, I left for just a moment, and you’ve already got guys around you."

Hearing the bitterness in Earth's tone, Mix gently stroked his jaw to calm him as he felt Earth's arms wrap around his waist.

"They asked for my number, but I gave them yours," Mix explained, meeting Earth’s eyes, noticing his expression softening. He smiled as he continued, "I told them that if they want my number, they'll have to call my boyfriend first."

"And that’s you, Earth."

Mix nearly laughed when he saw Earth's eyes widen slightly. Earth straightened and pulled Mix into a tight hug.

When he pulled back, Earth cupped Mix’s cheek, his voice soft as he asked, "Can I kiss you, baby?"

Mix felt hypnotized by the look in Earth's eyes and the way he called him that. He nodded.

Earth slowly leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips. It was a gentle, light kiss. Mix closed his eyes, his hands finding Earth's shoulders as he felt his knees go weak from the kiss.

When their lips parted, Mix noticed Earth's eyes were half-closed, still focused on his lips. Without realizing it, Mix licked his own lips.

"Damn, baby, don't lick your lips," Earth murmured before kissing him again. "You taste like strawberries."

Mix felt one of Earth's hands slide up his back from his waist, while the other gently caressed his cheek. When they finally pulled apart again, Earth pressed a few more kisses to Mix's lips, as if he couldn't get enough.

This was their first kiss, and Earth was already completely addicted.

"You're free to fly, Mix. But you'll always come back to me," Earth whispered between kisses, almost like a chant.

"You'll still end up with me," Earth said confidently.

Chapter Text

Two weeks have passed.

It's Apo's 24th birthday, and he's hosting a grand celebration at their mansion. This event is especially significant, as Apo is known for being a social butterfly. It’s also Mix’s first time attending one of his cousin's parties.

Usually, for his cousins' birthdays, they go out for a meal in the morning, and his cousins host a party in the evening, but Mix often chooses not to join since he's not really a fan of parties. However, this time he's coming along because Apo convinced him to join—just this once.

—————

Mix: Earth, I can't hang out tonight. It's P'Apo's birthday, and we're having an overnight celebration at his place. ☹️

Earth: That's okay. Maybe next time?

Mix: Yes! I'll call you tonight instead. I'm really sorry, Phi.

Earth: No worries, really. You should celebrate with your cousins. Have fun tonight.

Mix: Okayyy. I love youuuu. 💗💗

Earth: I love you, too.

—————

The next morning, Mix’s entire family went out to eat at a restaurant.

"Apo, don’t you have a partner yet? A girlfriend or boyfriend?" Mix heard his Aunt Golf, Arm's mom, ask.

"No, Auntie. None at all. I'm definitely single," Apo answered proudly as he sipped his juice.

"Oh, what can we expect from my son? I guess kids these days just want to play around and don’t take relationships seriously," said Champ, Apo’s father, holding his head as if he had a headache.

"Dad, I’m too young. I just want to enjoy my life and not be tied down in a relationship. Look at P'Tay and P'Off—they’re totally under their boyfriends' control," Apo rolled his eyes at his two cousins.

"That’s why, Mix, don’t rush into a relationship, okay? Look at what happened to your brother and cousin—they’re like crazy dogs, constantly chasing after their lovers. Pathetic." Apo advised Mix, who paused mid-bite and looked at his cousin, feeling his heart race and a pang of guilt.

Mix put down his spoon and wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Of course, Phi," he replied, masking his nervousness by taking a sip of water.

"Why don't you follow P'Arm’s example? He’s the one who keeps P'Porsch in line," Apo suggested.

"How about you try the ‘shut the hell up’ challenge? Stop dragging my Nong into your nonsense," Bible retorted, raising his fork at Apo.

"Boys, manners. We’re at the dining table," said Patt, Mix’s dad, silencing everyone at once. Then he turned to Bible, adding, "And you, Bible—don't act so innocent. You're just the same, flirting with both girls and boys left and right. You really are cousins."

"Right, Uncle, don’t you think? I don’t even know why his name is Bible when he’s not exactly holy." Apo found an ally and clung to his Uncle Patt’s arm beside him. Mix noticed Apo sneaking a glance at Bible and sticking his tongue out at him.

"You should be grateful it’s your birthday, little suck-up," Mix chuckled softly at his P'Bible’s whispered remark beside him. Yes, Apo and Bible are partners in crime, but most of the time they’re really at odds with each other. With such similar personalities, they often clash.

At 8 P.M., guests began arriving at Apo's place.

"Where's Uncle Champ?" Gun asked his boyfriend, greeting him with a quick peck on the lips as he arrived at Apo's house.

"We're in charge of the house tonight. Uncle Champ left for a trip," Off replied, taking the bag Gun handed him and slinging it over his shoulder. "Shall we head to the pool area? They're already there." He wrapped his arm around Gun’s petite waist, guiding him toward the pool.

Mix descended the grand staircase of the mansion, wearing a white scalloped-edge tank top and baby blue and white striped shorts. An elegant necklace of white pearls, with a small saturn pendant, rested just above his collarbones.

"Mix, are you heading to the pool? Let's go together." New, Tay’s boyfriend, greeted him as he reached the bottom of the stairs. It seemed he had come from the kitchen, as he was holding a bowl of ice cream.

Mix nodded and smiled.

"How’s it going? It’s been a while since we last saw each other," New said, wrapping an arm around Mix’s shoulder as they walked. "Are you free on Sunday? Let’s hang out with Gun and P'Arm. We can go for a facial."

"I'm doing fine, Phi. Yeah, I’m free next Sunday. I’ll just tell Dad that P'Arm is coming with us."

"Your skin is so soft, you really should take good care of it. Are you using the face masks I gave you?"

"Yes, Phi. Every night, just like you said."

When they arrived at the pool area, Mix looked around. The pool shimmered under the night sky, lit by vibrant LED lights in shades of deep blue, green, and purple, rippling across the water’s surface and casting a soft, enchanting glow around the area.

Lounge chairs and leather couches surrounded the pool, where guests mingled, sipping cocktails as a DJ played upbeat yet relaxed music in the background. There is also a bar counter nearby.

"Finally, you’re out of the room, Mix." Tay greeted them and pulled him toward the couch.

Everyone on the couch shifted their attention to the newcomers. Mix walked barefoot, accompanied by Tay and New. He smiled and waved as he greeted them. "Good evening."

They sat on the U-shaped couch with a table in the middle, and Mix was positioned between Gun and New. All of Mix's cousins and siblings were there except Apo, who seemed to be socializing with the guests since, well, he’s the birthday boy. Besides them, there were other men and women present.

"Hi, N'Mix." Gun cheerfully greeted him and hugged Mix.

"Good evening, P'Gun. I missed you." Mix returned the greeting and hugged Gun back.

"Orange juice?" Bible placed the juice on the table in front of his brother.

"Thank you, Phi." Mix smiled at Bible, feeling his brother ruffle his hair.

"By the way, why are you barefoot? Wait, I’ll get you slippers." Bible said as he dashed off.

"Why are you just coming out now, Mix?" Arm asked, crossing his legs while sipping on a cocktail. Porsch, who was beside him, had his head resting on Arm's shoulder.

"I just woke up, Phi." Mix reached for the orange juice on the table and took a sip.

"No drinking alcohol, okay?" Off reminded him from beside Gun.

"Leave your brother alone. He’s 20 already. You can't forbid him from everything," Gun piped up, lightly pinching his boyfriend’s thigh. He scoffed when he heard Off hiss.

"It’s okay, Phi. I don’t drink alcohol," Mix reassured Gun.

When Bible returned, he handed Mix the slippers, which Mix immediately put on. Bible then sat back in his usual spot with his friends. He grabbed a drink from the table and sipped it, his hand resting on the leg of the woman next to him.

"Hey, who’s that? I’ve never seen him before."

Bible turned to to his friend Boom. He noticed Boom was looking at Mix, who was now chatting with Gun and New.

"My brother. He's off limits," Bible immediately warned.

"Come on, you know me. We’ve been friends for a long time. Off limits to me too?" Boom asked, amused.

"That’s why he’s off limits to you—because I know you," Bible replied, shaking his head.

Their friends chuckled softly.

"Come on, Boom, stop it. Bible’s getting annoyed with you," Jes said, laughing. As much as he enjoyed the banter, he didn’t want things to escalate into a fight.

"P'Bible, is he really off-limits?" Boom asked one last time, giving Bible his best puppy eyes.

"Idiot, it doesn't suit you." Bible flicked Boom's forehead.

"Hey, guys!" Apo flopped onto the couch where his cousins were sitting.

"You stink. You smell like alcohol," Mark said, pushing Apo away.

"You're so fussy," Apo retorted. "Of course I smell like alcohol—I was drinking. It’s a party, after all. You’re drinking too, but I don’t complain about it."

"I drink in moderation. You drink until you pass out. That’s the difference between us."

Apo was about to reply when his phone rang. He excused himself and answered the call.

"Wait a minute, guys. I’ll just pick up my friend." Apo excused himself and headed inside the mansion.

"Good evening." Mix looked up from his conversation with Gun when he heard a familiar voice. He froze when he saw Earth standing there with his cousin Apo, Earth was also looking his way.

"Guys, this is Earth, my tattoo artist turned friend," Apo introduced, guiding Earth to a seat on the couch. Since the sofa was U-shaped, Mix and his cousins were on one side, and Earth and Apo sat on the opposite side, directly across from Mix with only the coffee table between them.

"Mix?" Mix broke his stare at Earth when Gun called his name.

"Huh?" he asked Gun, confused.

"I asked if you know Apo's friend. You’ve been staring at him."

"No. No, I don’t know him," Mix denied, shaking his head. He stood up. "Phi, I’ll just go to the kitchen."

He could still hear his siblings calling him, but Mix headed straight into the mansion. He went to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of cold water. As he was pouring, he nearly dropped the pitcher when strong arms suddenly wrapped around his waist from behind. Fortunately, the person behind him caught the pitcher just in time. Mix then set it down on the counter.

"Why are you here, Earth?" Mix instantly recognized who it was by the familiar scent. His hands moved to hold Earth’s arms, still wrapped around his waist. Mix leaned his head back onto Earth’s shoulder, relaxing against his boyfriend’s firm chest.

"Your cousin invited me," Earth replied. Mix could feel Earth’s warm breath on his ear. Earth's lips brushed the soft skin behind Mix's ear, sending a shiver down his spine as the older whispered, "I missed you so much, baby."

Earth glanced down at Mix in his arms, feeling a rush of longing. Oh God, how he had missed him. Seeing Mix in that thin tank top and shorts, looking so effortlessly handsome while chatting with his cousins, Earth had barely arrived before wanting to whisk Mix away from the gazes of the other men who were eyeing his boyfriend.

"I heard you’re his tattoo artist. Why didn’t I know?"

"Wanted to surprise you," Earth explained. "Apo just got his tattoo last month and invited me to his birthday right away." He placed a kiss on Mix’s pouty lips. "Don’t sulk, please. I’m sorry."

"I thought I wouldn’t see you today. I missed you, Phi." Mix stood on his tiptoes to kiss Earth’s jaw softly. He felt Earth’s arms tighten slightly around him.

"Let’s get out of here?" Earth asked, his gaze hazy as he looked into Mix’s eyes.

Mix felt hypnotized by the way Earth was staring at him. He smiled and nodded.

—————

Earth: Apo, there's an emergency at home. I'm heading out. Happy birthday again.

—————

—————

Mix: P'Off, I’m tired. Heading to my room now. Please let the others know. Enjoy the night. Love you. 💗

—————

They both smiled at each other as they got into Earth's jeep wrangler. Despite the CCTV around, Mix wasn't worried about being seen—after all, many guests were coming and going from Apo’s mansion, so he was sure he'd blend in. He just needed to be back before morning, as his Uncle Champ was arriving, and there would definitely be a search and rescue mission if he wasn’t at the mansion by then.

Mix smiled as he recognized the familiar route they were taking. They were heading to Earth’s house.

"Want to get pizza?" Earth asked, pulling over at Domino’s.

"Yes, please. Pepperoni."

Earth got out of the car and went inside the pizza place.

Mix gazed out the window, watching the passing cars, when he heard a ringtone. It was a call from 'Cousin.'

Mix immediately thought of Earth’s cousin, Janhae, whom he'd met the first time Earth introduced him to his family. And he often saw Janhae at the racetrack because her boyfriend, Sing, was also a motorcycle racer.

Mix answered the call. He usually did this when Earth wasn't around, and Earth didn’t mind if he answered calls for him. Sometimes, if Earth was busy driving and got a call, he’d ask Mix to take it.

"Hello, Earth. This is Apo. Is everything alright? I heard you had an emergency." Mix’s eyes widened when he heard his cousin Apo’s familiar voice. He checked the caller ID again and noticed it read 'Cousin from the other half.'

As much as he wanted to feel happy by the nickname, his nerves took over.

"Uh… Hello?" Mix replied hesitantly, his hand trembling as he held the phone.

"Huh? Did I call the right number? Who's this? Where's Earth?" Mix could hear the confusion in his cousin’s voice.

"Earth isn't around right now. He's busy. You can call back later. Thank you." Mix quickly replied and ended the call. Only then did he take a deep breath. He decided to turn off Earth’s phone for now, just to be safe.

"Earth, P'Apo called earlier. I got really nervous," Mix said as soon as Earth got back in the car.

"He called? Where's my phone?"

Mix immediately handed Earth his phone and took the pizza from him, placing it in the backseat. He turned back to his boyfriend and watched as Earth dialed Apo’s number.

"Hello, Apo?" Earth greeted, putting the call on speaker. He glanced at Mix, who was sitting beside him, and rested a hand on Mix’s head, gently running his fingers through his hair.

"Hey, Earth. Who answered the call earlier?" Apo asked curiously.

"Uh..." Earth glanced at Mix, biting his lower lip. "My boyfriend. Sorry, I was busy with something earlier. But yeah, everything’s fine now."

"That's good. I called earlier because I was worried. You just arrived, then left right away."

"Sorry, something really important came up," Earth replied, watching Mix, who was nervously biting his nails. Gently, he took Mix's hand to stop him, knowing it was a habit when he was anxious.

Earth and Apo chatted briefly before Earth ended the call with a quick farewell. His gaze shifted to Mix, who was staring out the window.

"Baby?" he said softly to get his attention. When Mix didn’t respond, Earth wrapped one arm around his shoulders and placed his other hand on Mix’s knee.

"P'Earth!" Mix squealed as Earth gently lifted him up onto his lap. He instinctively wrapped his arms around Earth's neck, feeling the latter's hands resting on his waist.

"What's bothering you?" Earth asked, brushing back Mix’s bangs.

"What if he recognized my voice?" Mix asked, worried.

"Don’t worry about it. You told them you were going to sleep, right? Besides, it was just a phone call—lots of people sound alike on the phone," Earth assured him with a gentle smile, rubbing Mix’s back to soothe him.

"Really?"

"Hmm. Don’t worry." Earth’s voice was soft and comforting.

Mix slowly smiled, his eyes forming little crescents. Somehow, whenever Earth reassured him, even his doubts disappeared. That’s how much he trusted Earth.

He hugged Earth and rubbed his nose against his neck, loving the older's scent, which always calmed him. He gently pressed his lips to the older’s neck and playfully bit it before snuggling back into his chest, feeling Earth’s soothing hand on his back.

They stayed like that, with Mix comfortably seated on Earth’s lap, as if it were his throne.

After a while, Mix looked up and met his lover's gaze. "Let’s go, Phi. I want to see Edin."

"And I want to go home with you."

Chapter Text

"Dad, please? Just one night. I’ll be back tomorrow, I promise," Mix pleaded, looking up at his dad, Aof, with hopeful eyes. They were seated on the sofa—Aof with his legs crossed, engrossed in the television. While he sat beside his dad, arm wrapped around his father's, his head resting on his father's shoulder in a silent, pleading gesture.

In the single chair nearby, his other dad, Patt, watched them with an amused smile.

"Please, Dad? Papa Patt already said yes. And I’ll be with Khao the whole time. We're just going shopping at the mall and then staying overnight at his condo. I just want to go out, please?" Mix added sweetly, casting his infamous puppy-dog eyes up at his Papa Aof.

"Why? Didn’t you just go out last Sunday with Arm, Gun, and New? You guys went shopping then, too. And why does it have to be overnight this time?" Aof raised an eyebrow at him, adjusting his glasses. He was referring to Mix’s last outing with his cousins and Off’s boyfriend, shortly after Apo’s birthday, which he had agreed to without much fuss.

"But, Pa, it’s different with Khao! He's my best friend, and we barely get a chance to hang out anymore. It’s getting boring here; we always just hang out at home." Mix looked over at his Papa Patt, hoping for some backup.

"Come on, Aof, let him go. Mix hardly ever gets out these days. He’ll be cooped up forever if we keep saying no," Patt said with a chuckle, getting up and joining his husband on the sofa.

Mix watched curiously as Patt whispered something to Aof, whose eyes brightened and gradually broke into a grin.

"Alright, alright. Just for tonight," Aof agreed, leaning in conspiratorially.

Mix looked even more puzzled. "Why are you two whispering? Can I join?" he asked innocently, causing his parents to stop and look at him.

"No kids allowed," Aof said with mock seriousness. "Fine, go ahead, you can stay with Khao. But just for tonight! Be back by tomorrow afternoon. Text us if you need a ride or if Khao is dropping you off."

Mix’s eyes widened with excitement. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he hugged both of his dads tightly, who hugged him back with warmth. "Thank you, dads," he beamed, a huge smile lighting up his face.

It was a cold night. The night wind blew through the open car window, gently brushing against Mix's face. Earlier that afternoon, Mix and Khao had spent hours shopping together. They didn’t go shopping because they rarely saw each other; rather, Mix was searching for the perfect anniversary gift for his boyfriend, Earth.

Today marked their second anniversary.

Mix had told his parents he’d be staying overnight at Khao’s condo, but that was just a cover. His real plan was to spend the night with his boyfriend. He knew he should probably feel guilty for lying, but all he felt was a rush of excitement at the thought of seeing Earth again and celebrating their anniversary together.

He wanted to surprise his boyfriend. Earlier, he had texted Earth saying they should just meet up tomorrow. Mix was sure Earth was annoyed because his replies had been short and curt. To make it even more convincing, Mix pretended to have completely forgotten about their anniversary.

—————

Mix: Phi, can we just meet tomorrow? I can’t today. I’m going somewhere with my cousins. Sorry, phi.

Earth: Don’t you remember anything special about today?

Mix: No?? Nothing really.

Mix: Why, Earth? What’s going on?

Earth: Nothing. Just enjoy.

Mix: Okayyyy!

Mix: I love youuuu 💗

Earth: ily.

—————

Mix couldn’t help but laugh, imagining Earth’s “ily” reply. It was so obvious he was annoyed.

Now, Mix and Khao were headed to Earth’s tattoo studio. Mix was certain Earth would be there, as the shop didn't close until 10 P.M.

"Bye, Khao! Drive safe on your way home. Thank you so much." Mix said his farewell to Khao as he got out of the car. He clutched the gift bag in his right hand while holding the bento cake with the other.

When Mix saw the car had left, he finally made his way to the tattoo studio. He stepped inside and took in the surroundings. The studio was designed with clean, simple lines, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere. Soft lighting filled the space, enhancing its relaxed vibe.

At the front was a contemporary desk setup with a laptop, a chair, and a few personal items. A large mirror leaned against one wall, with a potted plant nearby and a wall clock adding a subtle touch to the minimalist decor. To the right, there was a tattoo station with a table and a few small accessories. Small indoor plants were placed around the room, bringing in a touch of greenery and freshness, while paintings adorned the walls, featuring abstract or nature-inspired designs.

Earth wasn’t there. He was probably in the restroom. Perfect timing!

Mix walked over to Earth's desk. He placed the cake and the gift on the table, then sat down in the swivel chair to wait for his boyfriend.

Mix picked up a picture frame from the desk and examined it closely. It was a photo of himself, taken on Earth’s bed in Bangna. He was lying on his stomach, hugging a large teddy bear, his body covered by a blanket. Only his side profile was visible, though not very clearly. Next to him, Edin, Earth's cat, was sleeping.

Mix set the picture frame down on the desk when he heard the bathroom door open. He lifted his head to meet Earth's gaze. It was dark.

Earth had been in a bad mood all day. Usually, he could joke around with his clients while tattooing, but today it was different. If the client didn’t ask questions, he didn’t say a word. After finishing the tattoo, he simply gave the aftercare instructions, explained when to remove the patch, and when to come back for a touch-up.

His last client had already left for the night, and he was getting ready to close the shop. He’d just gone to the bathroom to wash his hands, rubbing them dry in frustration. Not a word from his boyfriend all day—not even a simple greeting, and it was their anniversary. Stepping out of the bathroom, he was startled to see a familiar figure sitting in his swivel chair.

When Earth’s gaze met Mix’s, his cold expression returned. He watched as Mix rose from the chair, smiling as he walked toward him. Mix looked radiant, a stark contrast to Earth’s gloomy aura.

Mix’s eyes turned into crescents as he smiled, his cheeks slightly pink, his hair moving with each step. Earth forced himself not to smile back. He should be mad.

Don’t give in, Earth. Don’t be weak.

...But oh God, Earth was not your strongest soldier.

"Hi, Phi!" Mix greeted, hugging Earth tightly.

The older man sighed, hugging him back.

Mix rose on his toes to plant a soft kiss on Earth’s neck. "Are you mad?"

So, what now, Earth Pirapat, are you going to let him off the hook again just because he’s being sweet?

Obviously, yes. It didn’t matter if Mix forgot their anniversary; what mattered was that he was here, holding him close.

Earth lifted Mix into his arms as Mix wrapped his arms around Earth’s neck.

"I missed you, handsome," Mix said, reaching up to kiss Earth’s sharp jawline. He grinned as he saw Earth’s jaw clench slightly and noticed his Adam’s apple bob after the kiss.

Earth walked toward his desk and couldn’t help but smile a little when he noticed the cake and paper bag set there.

"There it is. You finally smiled," Mix whispered, gently poking Earth’s cheek and giggling.

Earth cleared a spot on the desk and carefully set Mix down on it. Standing between Mix’s legs, his arms rested on the desk on either side of him, effectively trapping the smaller man.

Mix took the bento cake from the side, carefully removing it from the box, and held it up in front of Earth. "Happy anniversary, Earth!"

Earth's gaze fell to the cake, and a smile crept onto his face as he read the words written in icing: 'Same time next year?'

"Happy anniversary, baby," Earth whispered, leaning in to brush his lips against Mix's. "Yeah. Same time next year—and many more years to come."

Earth set the cake aside without breaking the kiss as he felt Mix's hands rest on his shoulders, drawing him closer. Earth placed his hand on the back of Mix's neck, deepening the kiss between them. They kissed passionately, an unmistakable hunger and longing evident in each movement of their interlocking lips. The room filled with the soft sounds of their kisses and their rapid breathing.

A soft gasp escaped Mix's lips as Earth gently bit down, parting them slightly. Earth's tongue slipped inside, exploring eagerly as if seeking something. Their tongues intertwined, their shared breath warm, and their movements grew fervent, each kiss filled with desire.

When their lips parted, there was still a strand of saliva left on Mix's lips. He then licked his lips while staring directly into Earth's.

Earth clenched his jaw as he gazed at Mix's teary eyes. The younger's cupid's bow lips were flushed and glistening in the light. His cheeks and ears were bright red.

Mix looked absolutely ravishing.

So ethereal... and for his eyes only.

Exclusively for Earth.

Mix leaned in to kiss Earth again, longing for more, and the latter indulged him. Earth's kiss traveled down to Mix's jaw, leaving small, tender kisses. Then it moved to Mix's ear.

Mix moaned as he felt Earth suck the tip of his earlobe. He tilted his head back and tightened his grip on the latter's shoulder.

After sucking on Mix's earlobe, Earth licked it before lowering his lips to the younger's neck. He kissed Mix's Adam's apple and lightly sucked it, then focused on the side of the younger's neck.

Mix exhaled deeply, his eyes closed as he felt the intense pleasure building within him.

He suddenly blinked when Earth stopped kissing his neck. Their eyes met. "Why did you stop?" Mix asked, confused.

"No making love until we're married, right? If I keep going, I might lose control," Earth said sternly.

"Then don't hold back."

Earth let out a quiet laugh when he heard Mix say that with his innocent, teary, bambi-like eyes adding to the charm. But his words were saying something else.

Earth didn't reply. Instead, he buried his face in Mix's neck, inhaling his scent while trying to calm himself.

They stayed in that position until Mix broke the silence. "Does it hurt to get a tattoo?"

"It depends on a person’s pain tolerance and the placement of the tattoo," Earth explained.

"You have so many tattoos, you must have been in so much pain."

Earth chuckled at the tone in Mix's voice, sensing a hint of sadness. It almost seemed like Mix was the one who was hurt, even though it was Earth who had gotten the tattoos.

"Hmm. The side ribs hurt. When it's close to the bone, it really hurts."

"What about on the finger?" Mix asked. "Like, the ring finger? Does it hurt?"

Earth pulled his head away from Mix's neck and faced him. "If it's near the knuckles, it hurts."

Mix cupped Earth's face with both hands and stared directly into his eyes. He had made up his mind. "Phi, let's get a finger band tattoo."

Earth's eyes widened slightly, and he was at a loss for words. "Huh?"

"I said let's get a finger band tattoo," Mix repeated, his lips curving into a smile.

"Then I'm going to introduce you to my parents."

Earth was completely stunned when he heard that. He briefly looked away, and when his gaze returned to Mix, he saw that Mix was already crying.

He cupped Mix’s face and leaned in, their foreheads touching, the tips of their noses brushing together. They closed their eyes as their lips met.

As they pulled away from the kiss, Earth smiled and gently stroked Mix’s cheek and the latter leaned into his touch, closing his eyes.

"Alright. Let’s do that. Together." Earth’s eyes were soft as he gazed at Mix, feeling the warmth build up and a tear falling down.

"You got me hooked, Mix. And I won’t be able to escape." Earth moved closer to Mix to kiss him again. "You won’t be able to escape me either. In my mind, we’re already cat parents. That can’t not happen, Edin will be mad."

Earth reached for his drawer, opening it to retrieve a small box. He handed it to Mix with a soft smile. Mix, taken aback, accepted the gift and carefully opened it. Inside was a necklace with a pendant, but not just any pendant. It was a globe, encircled by a ring, reminiscent of the way Earth and Mix were—two souls intertwined, an earth with saturn surrounding it.

With a smile, Mix gently caressed the necklace before handing it to Earth. "Put it on me," he said, his voice tender.

Earth gladly took the necklace, carefully placing it around Mix’s neck. His eyes sparkled with admiration as he did so. "You look absolutely gorgeous. Damn. I’m so lucky you chose me."

Mix chuckled softly, his voice filled with warmth. "I’m just as lucky, Earth. Always my Raven 94 ." His words lingered in the air, a quiet promise of a love that would never fade.

Earth crouched down, and Mix instinctively closed his eyes as he felt the warmth of Earth’s lips gently press against his forehead.

Chapter Text

Mix carefully scanned the surroundings, ensuring no guards were patrolling before slipping out of their kitchen. He sprinted down the long path leading to the gate, quickly unlocking and stepping outside before securing it behind him.

"I'm really nervous about your plan, Mix," Khao greeted him anxiously. "What if your Pa catches us sneaking out? And why did you have to answer back to him. You know he wouldn’t allow you to go tonight because you just recovered from being sick. It’s understandable."

"Let’s just go, Khao. Please?" Mix dismissed the topic as he took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm despite his own nerves.

It had been a long time since he last snuck out—ever since his relationship with Earth became official to his parents two years ago.

On their anniversary, Earth had tattooed a thin red line around both their ring fingers like the red string of fate. That night, Mix stayed over at Earth’s place, and the following morning, Earth accompanied him back home.

Introducing Earth to his family hadn’t been easy. His Papa Aof exploded with anger upon learning the truth. To Mix's surprise, his Papa Patt had long known about his secret trips to watch Earth’s races but kept it from his husband to avoid conflict. The revelation only fueled Papa Aof’s fury.

Mix had feared his parents would forbid their relationship, but instead, they simply expressed their initial disapproval before ultimately embracing Earth wholeheartedly.

"We accept him because you love him," Papa Aof had said, pulling Mix into a hug. "And we will love whoever you love. That’s how much we care for you, Mix."

The warmth of those words stayed with Mix, filling his heart with gratitude. He couldn't help but think of all the unnecessary secrecy. If only he had introduced Earth sooner, they wouldn’t have had to hide their love for so long. But none of that mattered anymore—what counted was the present.

He smiled at Earth, who stood across the room watching the exchange. Earth’s smile widened in response, and in that moment, everything felt right. They had faced their challenges and come through them together.

That memory remained vivid, etched into Mix’s heart like a precious keepsake.

"Mix, stop sticking your head out the window!" Khao’s scolding jolted him from his reverie, prompting him to sit back properly. His old habit of peeking out windows hadn’t faded even after all this time.

Staring out at the passing night, Mix couldn’t shake the nagging feeling in his chest. Why was he unusually anxious tonight? Maybe it was just the thrill of sneaking out again after so long.

Nothing bad was going to happen, right?

Upon arriving at the racetrack, Khao and Mix settled into their seats in the VIP section. Moments before the race was set to begin, Mix felt Khao tap his arm. Turning toward his friend, he followed Khao's gaze and froze in shock—his parents were walking toward them, accompanied by his siblings and cousins.

Mix sat motionless, stunned by the unexpected sight. He barely registered their approach until they were right beside him. Several seats in the VIP area were vacant, including those next to Mix. His parents took those seats, with his siblings and cousins settling directly behind them. Anxiety gripped Mix as his heart pounded wildly. The uneasy feeling he had earlier now made sense—something unexpected was bound to happen.

Unable to tear his eyes away from his parents, Mix nervously whispered to his father, "Pa, what are you doing here?"

"Shh, the race is about to start," his father replied curtly, without even glancing at him. Frustrated but left with no choice, Mix redirected his attention to the track.

His gaze found Earth immediately. Clad in a sleek black and green racing suit, helmet secured, Earth was already astride his bike, waiting for the starting signal. Mix exhaled deeply, forcing himself to focus, though his mind still churned with thoughts about his parents' sudden appearance and their discovery of his secret trip to the race.

As the race progressed, Mix fought to keep his focus. It was a close battle, but during the final lap, he leapt to his feet in exhilaration as the monitor flashed Earth's victory. Overcome with joy, Mix couldn't contain himself and hugged Khao tightly.

Aof watched his youngest son’s joyful face, his heart swelling with pride. Mix looked so alive, so free. The happiness radiating from him was undeniable. Turning to his husband Patt, Aof took his hand, returning the smile Patt offered.

"We can’t keep him locked up forever to protect him," Patt said softly, his voice steady with understanding. "He’s happiest when he’s free."

A gentle squeeze of Aof's hand followed as Patt continued, "There's someone else willing to protect our son now—without caging him." He gestured toward the track, where Earth was approaching the winner’s podium, his expression triumphant yet grounded.

Mix, unable to contain his excitement, turned to his parents, gratitude written all over his face. Before he could speak, both Aof and Patt nodded knowingly, silently giving their blessing.

"Thank you, Dads!" Mix exclaimed, hugging them both tightly before making his way toward Earth. His steps were confident, familiar—this was their tradition. Every time Earth claimed victory, Mix stood by his side as he received his trophy.

But this time, something felt different.

As the two faced each other on the winner's podium, Mix's brow furrowed in confusion when Earth unexpectedly knelt in front of him, setting his trophy aside. The world seemed to slow as Earth reached into his racing suit and pulled out a small red box.

Mix's breath caught in his throat, his eyes widening as their gazes locked. Tears welled up, spilling freely down his cheeks when Earth opened the box to reveal a gleaming ring.

"Mix... baby," Earth began, his voice unwavering despite the intensity of the moment. "In front of your family, your friends, and everyone here, I want the world to know how I feel about you. Let's be free together."

He took a breath, eyes never leaving Mix’s. "Baby, will you marry me?"

Mix couldn’t form the words through the flood of emotions. Instead, he nodded fervently, extending his hand to Earth. The red tattoo on Mix’s finger glinted under the light. With care, Earth slipped the ring onto his finger, sealing their promise of forever.

Rising to his feet, Earth pulled Mix into an embrace, holding him tightly as Mix leaned against his chest, sobbing softly. They stood there wrapped in each other’s arms, the roar of the crowd fading into the background.

Earth pressed a gentle kiss to Mix’s forehead, trailing his lips softly down to capture Mix’s in a tender kiss—light, sincere, and filled with love. When they parted, matching smiles graced their faces.

Turning to the cheering audience, Earth raised Mix’s hand high, the ring glinting proudly. It was no longer just a race victory—it was the start of a beautiful new chapter. In that moment, nothing else mattered.

Their souls entwined, unbroken, and free. Hooked in love’s eternity.

“I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.”
— Pablo Neruda, One Hundred Love Sonnets: XVII
