Work Text:
“It huuurts” Lloyd bemoaned in pain
“Yeah yeah, I know” Kai replied
Lloyd was laying in bed with his legs elevated and cold packs laying on his arms, it was a week into his training, with everyone thinking that it was too slow, (minus wu) and they amped it up.
By about 1000 percent if what Lloyd was feeling was right.
Arms bruised from blocking hits from the other ninja who weren’t sure how to actually control their strength just yet, and fists slightly torn from hitting one of the older spinning wooden dummy’s.
And his legs were a whole other thing, the amount of foot work and kicking and spinning as well as stretches he had done this training time made his legs feel like aching jello that would never recover.
They all got an earful when Master Wu returned and reminded them of physical limits.
Kai grimaced at Lloyd’s pains,
remembering his own when he first started ninja training, he was the last one to join from the original 4 ninja and it had showed when they sparred and trained together in the earlier days, he used his own fires heat to soothe his own muscle aches then.
“You’ll feel better in a day or two and be fine in about three”
“Three days!? But what about my training!”
“Training can wait.” Kai declared “Besides, you’ll have to wait a lot longer if you tear a muscle” he ruffled the kids hair “let’s not land you in a hospital just yet.”
Lloyd grumbled at that but didn’t argue,
he hated hospitals and all its needles and disgusting medicine along with workers who used to look at him with pity or annoyance whenever he went to the free clinic area before joining the ninja.
“Three days?”
“Three days kid, but we’ll start with stretching on the second day”
Lloyd beamed, he would become a ninja the coolest on ever! …even if it made his legs feel like they would fall off.
Kai chuckled and pulled a blanket over Lloyd and his bandages. “Get some sleep kid, you’ll heal faster that way”
Lloyd snuggled into the blanket with minimal movement to avoid stretching his limbs
“Night Kai.” and closed his eyes.
“Night kid.” Kai left the room with a feeling of fondness and an odd sense of nostalgia.
