Work Text:

This Bandit Minisode is called "Decisions."

The door to The Mirth and Merriment swung leisurely and Bandit Heeler, Pat Labrador, Josh Border Collie and Diesel Kelpie sauntered out in various stages of wibbly and wobbly. Pat had his arm slung around Diesel’s neck, the yellow fur on his face rosier than usual, while Bandit walked mostly straight whilst twirling his keyring on his finger. All dogs piled into Bobo, his reliable orange Jeep and fastened their seatbelts. Bandit climbed in last as the designated driver and shut the door.

“I think it’s time for a proper meal, eh?” said Bandit. “Where we goin’ to soak up our drink?”

“Nothin’ too pricey, righto?” said Pat in the back. “The ol’ wallet’s a little lighter than before.”

“Barkeep’s thankful for that,” said Diesel, poking Pat on the top of his head. “Next time, don’t make darts wagers you won’t regret.”

Pat waved Diesel’s hand away. “Says you with your lucky triple 20!”

“Guys, I’m hungry here!” said Bandit. “Back to task.”

“How about a curry?” asked Josh.

“I had curry last night, thanks to you,” said Diesel.

“Oh yeah, that’s right,” said Josh.

“I could go for chicken bucket,” said Bandit.

“Isn’t the closest chicken bucket across town?” asked Josh.

“I’ll eat a boot off the sidewalk at this point,” Bandit groaned, clutching his stomach.

Pat opened the back door. “Uh, gimme a mo’, tank needs drainin’.”

“I wouldn’t use the bar’s dunny if I were you,” said Diesel.

Pat paused, one foot hanging out over the road. “Really?”

“You remember when Stripe spilled the soup all over the kitchen?”

The dogs paused to recall the memory, then recoiled simultaneously. “Ew!”

“Yeah, not pretty,” Diesel confirmed.

Pat shut the door, and all sat in silence for a moment, trying to erase the mental picture Diesel had painted. Pat then smiled sheepishly and reached down to hold himself. “So I’m gonna need a place for us to eat or…a bush.”

Bandit threw his paws up and cried out in exasperation. “This happened last time!” he complained. “How is it that whenever we go out, we can never decide what to eat?”

Josh, Pat, and Diesel looked at Bandit, then at each other, then said, “Dunno, mate.”

Bandit rolled his eyes. “Okay, look, I’ll solve it the same way I solved it last time. There’s a chippery down the street and I know they’re open late because we’ve been before. Is everyone okay with that?”

Everyone nodded. “Yup.”

“Right,” Bandit sighed. “Let's go, then.” With that, he turned the key and Bobo roared to life.

“Hooray!” they all cheered.
