Work Text:
He said goodbye to Atlas so quickly that morning. Although Atlas was a bit suspicious of Jack's behavior, he was panicking too much about his body.
Jack breathed a sigh of relief as soon as he left the house to go to work, being completely alone now.
This time the little girls were also somewhere else. At school, studying. And he wasn't afraid that something bad would happen to them.
The babysitter wasn't there either because of where the girls were, but she came less often because Jack practically took care of them by himself.
However, he was sadder when Atlas had to be away from home even after work. After all, he was a revolutionist and still fought for the good of Rapture. Regardless of Andrew Ryan and Fontaine having died.
Sofia Lamb was the one people were afraid of now, those were the rumors. Atlas is doing a lot of research on her, she's not evil, although she has suspicions and doesn't like what Atlas is doing too much. That's why it takes him longer.
He fights for a better future. Theirs and the citizens of Rapture.
Jack had been missing his words and touch lately, but for some reason, he wanted to hide the pregnancy from everyone. He did it secretly, despite agreeing with Atlas that they would plan it.
He was left alone, slightly taken aback. He sighed in embarrassment and looked at his stomach. He raised his hand and placed it on his stomach, rubbing it left and right, knowing that it was not a normal stomach ache.
But was that it? He hadn't been to the doctor at all.
He was already 6 weeks pregnant. However, he hadn't told anyone about it, not even Tenenbaum. He was afraid. Although he trusted her completely.
He didn't know what had gotten into his head, but he wanted a child. Just like Atlas.
In his mind, he injected Adam to himself to complete it and took the pregnancy plasmid before his and Atlas first intercourse, not telling the revolutionist anything at all. He wasn't sure how he would react if he told him.
But he didn't.
It hurt a little like taking any plasmid that was once new to him, but it was nothing compared to the Electro Bolt which was his first plasmid in life.
Being also uncertain and curious, he encouraged Atlas with his charm and words, and they had sex in the evening, before going to sleep.
They were supposed to wait, but then he noticed that Atlas had completely forgotten about this plan and let him drag him to bed. And when Atlas got excited, he kissed Jack everywhere he could and was so weak to cum that it was too late to back out.
It was so passionate, and Jack loved it so much that at that moment he didn't think about the baby, only about their touch, love, tenderness and that evening they spent together being so close to their warm, slightly sweaty bodies.
When two weeks had passed and he had secretly vomited, the next day he went to the store to get a pregnancy test.
He did the test. It was positive.
But he felt that he wanted to, so his fear was mixed with a feeling of happiness at that moment.
He walked to the kitchen, feeling a bit hungry, but stopped at the sudden pain in his stomach and quickly sat down on the armchair in the living room. He breathed deeply, rubbing his stomach slowly and resting his left hand on his knee, looking down.
"P-please n-no..." he moaned quietly, begging for the pain to subside. "Damn. W-where is the radio?" he asked himself, looking around the living room, wanting to hear Atlas and his soothing words.
He moved slowly in search of the radio, but he couldn't find it anywhere. However, when he found it on the cabinet in front of the entrance to the house, he sighed with relief, still feeling the pain, which was growing even more.
He quickly grabbed the radio, sitting on a wooden chair near the dresser.
He extended and adjusted the antenna to get a signal. He waited a moment. Well, maybe more than two minutes.
It seemed to him that it was nonsense, but when he heard the crackling and Atlas's voice, which could hear some range, he was very happy.
“Boyo?” Atlas answered with the radio buzzing. Now he had time for Jack, but not as long as before. “Is everything okay? Are you alright?” he asked worriedly, knowing that Jack could call in an emergency.
Before twelve was not the time for him to catch a signal so that they could talk. Jack was afraid that Atlas would not have time for him again.
“N-no! Please, Atlas, help me!” he screamed, being exposed to a stomach ache and he could not say it more quietly because of the pressing pain.
He was afraid that he would lose the baby. Atlas was also panicking at the moment.
“What's going on? Tell me boyo, and I will help you,” he replied, being so panicked, because he didn't know what was happening to him.
The radio drowned out Atlas's words a bit, but Jack heard them well, but weaker than before.
"My stomach hurts... Terribly. I'm alone, I'm so scared," he replied fearfully, rubbing his stomach with his hand, and holding the radio tightly in his left hand.
"Don't be afraid, boyo. I'll be there as soon as possible. For now, take a pill and call the doctor, okay?" he replied, feeling more worried. "I'll try to come back as soon as possible. I'll always have the radio with me, I won't hang up, I'll be with you, you can talk to me. I'll be here, I'll calm you down," he replied, wanting Jack not to panic.
Atlas's voice always calmed Jack, though, so he stayed with him.
The radio helped Jack in a way, though. When he unknowingly returned to Rapture. The radio through which Atlas spoke helped him, and above all his voice and help, when he had to traverse the underwater city on his own.
As he wanted, he didn't hang up, but grabbed the phone to call for help. He could have gone to Tenenbaum, but he didn't, so he called the doctor instead of her.
While waiting for him, he held the radio wants Atlas voice so close, who was trying to get here.
Jack was quiet mostly, but Atlas's words were reassuring and he didn't worry when Atlas's voice faded into the radio noise and he didn't say anything for a while.
He calmed down as soon as the doctor appeared at his doorstep. She asked Jack to lie down on the couch. She took his hand and he went with her and with a little problem he lay down on the couch.
The doctor had everything at hand to heal Jack. He complained of abdominal pain, so she started working on determining where the pain was.
She set up the equipment so she could examine Jack's abdominal cavity and after a thorough examination of the abdomen with an ultrasound, she found a surprising and already probable fact.
She was about to speak to Jack, who was squeezing his eyes shut and not wanting to look at it, feeling the pain growing, but Atlas suddenly rushed and opened the door.
Jack was surprised by the sound and looked towards the door, slightly surprised. He had completely forgotten that he had the radio.
He knew that if he didn't speak, Atlas would worry even more and if necessary, he would come back at any moment. Jack and the girls were always more important than his work.
However, Atlas face did not speak of anger at all. He couldn't see it. It was a worry and a fear. Before Jack could speak, Atlas came, knelt in front of him and grabbed his hand.
"I see everyone is here? So I can say that," the doctor replied, smiling.
"Is it something serious? What's wrong with Jack?" he asked, scared and a bit confused by her smile.
"Not at all. I think this news will make you both happy," she said. "The ultrasound shows that you're pregnant." She turned her gaze to Jack and smiled wider, feeling pleased.
Jack's eyes widened, but he only feigned surprise. However, it confirmed that he was pregnant.
"How? We didn't..." he asked, surprised, turning to Jack, who smiled, being so happy. Stroking his belly where he no longer felt pain because of the doctor who gave him pills.
Atlas that second, realized when it happened. Jack smiled at him so innocently now.
“In any case, the pregnancy is developing normally, but in the case of such pains, there must be no bleeding and more serious pain, which is why you need a doctor to monitor your baby's health. Also at this moment, for some time you will need pills for such pains. You have to go to the first visit and choose a doctor. That's all from me. Congratulations and I wish you good health," she replied, smiling and putting away her equipment and the papers she had written about Jack and the intervention.
Before Atlas could ask about the pregnancy, the unknown doctor left their apartment.
Atlas ignored the doctor's departure and turned to Jack, who slowly stood up, feeling better after taking the pill from the doctor.
“Boyo…” He turned to him, being a bit in a bad tone and knelt in front of him, when he had his knees spread apart and put his hands on them. “How is that possible?”
“I…” He was silent, afraid of these words. “I did it. I wanted us to try for a baby. Sorry I hid it, but I was scared.”
Atlas sighed at Jack's answer and grabbed his cheeks when he looked away from him.
“You have nothing to apologize for and nothing to be afraid of. But you could have told me, instead of doing it secretly,” he directed the words towards Jack, stroking his cheeks.
“I know, but you refused and I wanted it to finally happen. You haven't had time for us lately,” he replied sadly.
“Sorry, kid. I'll try to change it, I promise. Don't worry, I'm not mad. I'll help you and your baby.” He turned his gaze to Jack's stomach and lowered his hands to reach his stomach and massage it through the sweater.
Jack was surprised by Atlas reaction due to Atlas being a bit nervous, but not this time.
Atlas moved his hands a bit to the side, and approached Jack's stomach, resting his head and wrapping his arms around his back. Wanting to hear from Jack's belly, some sign of their future baby.
"Our baby," Jack corrected Atlas, feeling so happy now that Atlas had done this and shown his support and love.
"You're right, boyo. I will love you, love you all and support you. I dreamed of having my own family," he replied quietly, still snuggling into Jack's belly, rubbing himself a bit.
Jack smiled at Atlas's nice touch and put his hand on his hair, stroking his dark curls.
"Me too," he said, feeling the same as Atlas.
He also dreamed of a family. About love, support, and safety.
He couldn't wait for their first baby and he was very happy with this choice. He didn't regret what he had done and he loved the thought that Atlas would now be with him more often and almost everywhere.
They had to make an appointment for their first doctor's visit. And he already knew who it would be. Someone he knew very well, visiting him and especially the girls too often.
He wanted to share this news with her.
He wondered how Tenenbaum would react to this. If she would help him survive this pregnancy.
He knew he would have so much love and support. From the little girls and most of all from Atlas and Tenenbaum.
