Percy's Rainbow Baby

Summary:

Buying a rainbow unicorn onesie is not a safe endeavor (if you're Percy)

Work Text:

Percy supposes he should have seen Iris coming. He sent enough Iris messages to be on her radar. He knew she'd been less than helpful during the latest great quest…being a "pacifist". Frank wasn't to impressed. Percy was more grateful that she wasn't actively trying to kill or hinder them. (He didn't have many expectations for gods…except for now how he expected them to give him babies…)

He does think it's funny he runs into her in shopping mall buying a rainbow unicorn onesie for his little sister. (His mom was minding all the kids at present, always happy to have a pack of grandbabies surrounding her.)

That she pops up near him, iridescent eyes wide and a winsome grin of her face tells him she had been waiting for aappropriate rainbowesque moment to approach. He kind of likes she picked the unicorn onesie "moment".

They walked together and chatted, Iris had all the Olympus-related gossip and she delivered it well. (Though sometimes it seemed to involve which gods were gunning for him to be their baby daddy next...)

Percy treated them both to rainbow frozen yoghurt, which made Iris laugh, causes tiny rainbows to bounce off the nearby windows. She came home with him and spent ages talking with his mom and Paul over healthfoods and a long debate over if you could eat "too healthy".

All in all, it was a nice day.

In nine months time Iris came herself, descending via rainbow on his way home from class, causing everyone else on the street to kneel. She was gently holding a cradle woven out of irises, the colorfull array of blossoms arching up protectivelt over the treasure they held.

Iris was a little bashful when she handed Percy the cradle. She admitted she'd been feeling "closer to her old self" with him... Percy was slightly confused when Iris just nodded towards her arms. He looked down into the cradle, the familiar wonder of having another child filling him up.

His confusion didn't last long when he spotted the tiny rainbow wings on the infants back. He only shook his head in amusement. Percy felt at least slightly prepped for a flying baby thanks to Zois.

Eucalyptus Rainbow Jackson was a sweet little bundle for right now at least. (He gave her a week before she mastered her wings and gave him new gray hairs...)
